Starting point is 00:02:26 sprinter butt butt is cute it has potential okay it can work towards greatness you know i don't know if we can get a free trip anywhere but you know that's not that big somebody might see me at shake shot and be like i'll give you a couple extra fries so a couple of them excuse me i'm gonna pay for her fries yeah yeah yeah shorty from the back and then they see me from the front And I'd be like, actually, you have to pay for everything. No, that's not true. You got the skin. I'm haggard this week.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Fuck, man. This day job is wearing me out. Yeah, well, you look radiant, friend. Really? That's because I'm wearing makeup. I went to Sephora and I literally just want to, I want a Molotov cocktail that place, that whole business. Because it's just like, why are you, everything is overpriced.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Everything. Literally. What did you go in there to pick up? um i had to pick up some more primer i needed to pick up um you know like a lip color and how much money you spent over a hundred dollars on a primer and a lipstick oh you go in there for two things and then you're walking out like why do i have all these stuff that's your add flaring no i i go in i'm like i'm coming in to get this one thing and then i walk out i don't even have that i'll have a bunch of samples yeah oh i racked up on the stand i was talking to that woman the whole time
Starting point is 00:03:45 i was like yeah yeah girl what you trying to do today you trying to work yeah i'm gonna need a sample of this this go to two-face now yeah and then going over to bobby brown two-face what la mercier you got a you got a eyeshadow sample oh man oh i got some creams and whatnot samples mass samples and she looked at me the whole time like are you buying anything are you putting things in the basket to get samples and then put it back i was like where do you think i was raised Harlem you're right do they work on commission at Sephora I don't know because they always ask if you were helped by anybody and I always say no I'm like no I came in here I did this myself uh pay me run me my money yeah I think so I'm not for sure but this shit is a scam and it's
Starting point is 00:04:27 just another way for like women to put their confidence into you know makeup we walk in there and you just like oh I just need to get this thing for my eyebrows and then all of a sudden you're like well i do look a little tight underneath my eyes i guess i can get a mask the lighting in there and the lighting is like like it makes you look good but also it makes you look bad like it's a weird like tv lighting or something in there then a bitch will pull up and be like well have you had this anti-aging cream and it's like wait hold on i look old what are you trying to say well you know you're preventative you see all this time that you were wasting at sephora you could have been trying to meet that deadline yeah okay not today i didn't go to sephora today
Starting point is 00:05:09 i went this past weekend but yeah well whatevs anyway it's fine how friend you're great is that what your expertise was for the week no my expertise was uh stunting on these hoes stunting on these hoes at sephora with $900 no no no not a sephora i was coming out of the building uber pulled up this just happened and then i ran into somebody who i used to fuck a long time ago and he saw me getting into the course and it looked like I'm doing well hold on hold on if it was a Honda Accord
Starting point is 00:05:40 it don't look like you're doing well what kind of car was it no it was for some reason it was an Escalade oh they were like he saw he she they he they saw you walk by and they were like oh she banging a basketball player I know it was so beautiful an Escalade
Starting point is 00:05:55 an Escalade or a Lincoln or one of them like bigger navigator A Yukon or something like that. Denali or something. Denali, yeah. And it was a pool. So I was like, look at God. So he thought.
Starting point is 00:06:08 You had to get in the back or you got in the front? No, there was nobody in there. So it just looked like I had an Uber X. And where was he going? The train. And I was like, wow, blessed. And I was like, I'm doing great. Did he have a lot of layers on?
Starting point is 00:06:19 Because it's hot today. So he might have been sweating. I don't know what. All I know is like, ha, you look terrible without me. That's all I could see. Great. Let's clap for that. You deserve that, friend.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Thank you. Marie, what about you? What were your expertise? I mean, I guess technically I'm also stunting on these hoes. Okay. In like an unemployed way. Okay. You know, back to my roots, my third world country roots.
Starting point is 00:06:44 I got these, I don't know. I feel like these braids have changed me, friend. I've hit so many people in the face. Okay. Just flicking them over my shoulder, you know, per use. Yeah. And the range is very long. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:58 You see this? It is. It's like a Beyonce ponytail. It really is. It's not the same quality hair. No. This is synthetic. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Not even adjacent. Wow. Okay. Her lemonade braids might have been this hair. Okay. She didn't use human hair for the lemonade braids. Nah. That was for sure synthetic.
Starting point is 00:07:14 But it was like a well-bred synthetic hair. Honestly, Sydney, you are a crappy support dog. Okay. I'm so sorry. Do we have a gun sound to play? what's that over there um anyway i don't know i'm getting ready to go to uh europe uh for i don't know how much time um i'm buying a one-way ticket and uh we're gonna see what happens i'm going in june okay i think did you get the tickets i did not get the tickets but i've been looking at them
Starting point is 00:07:55 i'm on this new app it's called hopper yeah not sure if y'all are on board with it but it tells you like just what the like what the prices will be and if the tickets will be more expensive or cheaper like it's like it's like buy them now or it's like wait till July 3rd or like it's super convenient so maybe July no I'm going in
Starting point is 00:08:14 June why because you trying to get your money together for July no I mean I probably already have my money together it's just like they not just they not gonna let me in June since Ferris Bueller days off it I've never seen that movie but I feel like you could do that just put like a bunch of pillows under a blanket on the couch and they're gonna be like there's
Starting point is 00:08:35 sydney sleeping again oh my god he called me again this week four times uh yeah so pillows under a quilt friend no bitch they're not gonna come for a week they already come for a week and my sister comes for a week and i'm alone for like a couple weeks but listen sis i could spend the whole summer so you're saying the whole month i might honestly record episodes out there uh we gonna producer andrew asking real questions record a million episodes before i go yeah i'll be in france recording my parts i'll be like well just like real uh like responses like oh yeah oh how many hours does it take to get there i don't know nine with a layover fuck because i was like oh maybe I'll come
Starting point is 00:09:18 for like three days and they're like actually after all the layovers you do there will be three days I'm seeing flights the shortest that I've seen is nine hours
Starting point is 00:09:26 and then I'm seeing as many as like a whole day but that flight probably cost like eight dollars friend you could do that I'm gonna talk to them
Starting point is 00:09:35 and see what they say yeah try to come for a week and they'll be like uh do you know you just started I'm like what's up I can't get a week off
Starting point is 00:09:43 be like my period is coming for a long time in June I can't be here for this week I booked something over there. I can't show you the contract, but. Contract is none of their business.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Speaking of none of their business, our guest today, you know I'm going to mess up your last name, sis. But I'm excited to have her here because her expertise is something that other people have tried to claim. And we've been like, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. We have somebody for that already. So kind. I know. We're so kind. We're actually really nice people, sis.
Starting point is 00:10:13 I know. You are a comedian. And are you also an actress? Yeah, a little bit. A little bit. She's an actress. She's in the Handmaid's Tales. Yes.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Not the show, but they had their own spinoff of it. I love how people mix it up, though. It's nice. They're like, wow, Hulu? I'm like, yeah, it was crazy. She's on Hulu right now. She is our Sex and the City expert. It's Melissa Stokowski.
Starting point is 00:10:40 That was perfect. Oh, my God. Wow. An expert in saying my name. That was beautiful. Nobody, my family can't say my name. That was incredible. Where are you from?
Starting point is 00:10:49 I grew up in Metro Detroit. You're from Detroit? Yeah. Wow. Now you got like a lot more money energy. You don't look like. Oh, really? I mean, not suburbs, I guess.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Detroit, are you sure? Yeah, suburbs. You know how some people like. I say Metro Detroit so people understand. The outskirts, bitch. That's not Detroit. Shut up. So sis, you from Michigan.
Starting point is 00:11:09 I'm from Michigan. So say that. I say Metro Detroit. Well, people are, you know, it's a little different. There's Michigan that's like lakes and farms, and I wasn't in that. You got lake farm energy, sis. Thank you so much. You grew up on some acreage.
Starting point is 00:11:21 You trying to be humble. That's what you're trying. Like, well, I'm not Michigan wealthy. I'm not old money. I'm Detroit metro, which is like more money than the niggas who actually live in Detroit. She grew up on a farm. Yeah. I grew up on a farm.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Yeah. Yeah, for sure. And Pittsburgh. I was kind of born there, and I moved here from there. Pittsburgh? Oh, you moved to New York from Pittsburgh? I did. Oh.
Starting point is 00:11:43 We had a guest from Pittsburgh, or who lived in Pittsburgh, remember? Our sugar daddy, stalker, stalker expert. Okay, cool, cool, cool. Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh feels very, like, dry and, like, dirty and, like, rusted cars. Like, is that what Pittsburgh is? There's some of that, for sure. It's been updated, I would say.
Starting point is 00:12:04 There's been a lot of, yeah. Yeah, I would say so. I mean, there's, like, a lot of universities there. There's stuff that keeps it going. But, yeah, it's definitely a little bit. Sydney, are you smelling your outfits right now? Because I saw that. And the listeners.
Starting point is 00:12:16 I missed that. Sorry, my girlfriend got me on this fucking crystal ass shit. And it's just, I stink. It's disgusting. It's so gross. I have to carry this on me. Let me see. What is it?
Starting point is 00:12:25 That looks like shoe polish. I have to carry it. It's not real deodorant. I don't do a roller. Lavender. Yeah, remember roller deodorant? I haven't seen one of these in years. It's just stupid.
Starting point is 00:12:34 It's like, give me cancer. It's fine. No aluminum, paraben. Did you say give you cancer? Give it to me. It's fine. It's fine. I'm sure you smell fine.
Starting point is 00:12:42 I have to put this on every hour. And now I understand why people who were smelling that we knew. Yeah, because you were shading. Okay, Sydney, my how the tables have turned? Yeah. Because you were shading some of our funkiest friends? Shut the fuck up. Okay, Melissa, keep it going.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Keep it going. Melissa, are you dating? I am dating. Oh. I have a recent, I hadn't committed to anything in like four years. Right, because why would you? Why would I do that? You're young, you're cute, you still got your body and everything.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Oh, God. And then, yeah, I got I got trapped in something. Wow. Trapped. So he's a white man. Trapped in the closet. Oh, wait. No, we're not doing our Kelly song.
Starting point is 00:13:21 We're not. Wow. So sorry. You can't. Yeah. OK, so let's talk about the first time you do you remember the first what's the first Sex in the City episode that pops into anybody's head in the studio? The first thing that pops into my mind is when Miranda dated Blair Underwood and he
Starting point is 00:13:39 got her that i love you cookie yeah oh my god that's the first thing that season yeah garbage the first is that she's eating cake out of the trash that might be a different episode but that's something i that always stays in my mind a lot of food things yeah she did they kind of gave her like all of the weird obsessive storylines like she's obsessed with eating something or like something with her cat like she always has a weird thing remember when she got braces yes i do yeah they were they were giving this redhead the works i know they were like you read your redhead oh you're gonna have a hard time on this show she wasn't they made her dye her hair red yeah what color is her hair she's blonde and they were like we can't have three blonde chicks we need
Starting point is 00:14:20 two so she did diversity she's a diversity higher friend wow that's trash um that's why she lost the election she ran for office here in new york and she lost because people were like miranda well i think honestly that gave her more credibility people were like she's a lawyer she lives in brooklyn you know neither of those things are true uh but she regardless she also got the worst dudes i feel like steve and yeah didn't she date is the turtle oh no that was samantha do you remember the turtle yeah but she it was just like she was making her own money and so the people that she picked it was more about like what's accessible like i work late hours okay nah steve the bartender yeah that's
Starting point is 00:15:06 accessible there's no way steve was contributing to the rent or the mortgage in brooklyn he had no money and it was inconvenient because she had to be up early and he came in late so that actually was a really inconvenient right well that was inconvenient but finding him was very convenient and then he had the nerve to cheat on her steve this man terrible terrible yeah but But, you know, yeah, Steve, bad guy, good heart. But people be cheating. So, like, and Miranda is naggy and annoying and red hair. She is naggy and annoying and red hair.
Starting point is 00:15:38 And your wrists are thick. No. She has thick wrists? She has thick wrists. Somebody pull up a picture of Miranda's wrists right now. I feel like. If you have thick wrists, you should be lucky somebody's with you. Is that like cankles on your arms?
Starting point is 00:15:52 Yeah, yeah. That's exactly what it is. You're an idiot, dude. The first Sex and the City episode I remember is when Carrie was cheating with Big, and Big was with Natasha, and she got caught. Oh, and she fell down the stairs? Yeah, and I was like, bitch, you are so dumb. In the house?
Starting point is 00:16:11 In the house. You're going to his house. Your shoe is disheveled. I mean, not disheveled, but you know what I mean. It was like a clog. She had a mule on? It was a mule. She had a mule on.
Starting point is 00:16:21 She had a mule. like you are you're not running down any stairs in anybody's mule it's a slip-on no also
Starting point is 00:16:28 Big had money we all just assumed Natasha didn't have a job right right yeah so why are you just in her house
Starting point is 00:16:37 like she not gonna come home to like freshen back up because they said that she was in the Hamptons that weekend she was gone it was Hamptons and she did like
Starting point is 00:16:44 volunteer stuff yeah yeah that's what rich people do rich people work that was all Charlotte's life so why would you think yes exactly she was like
Starting point is 00:16:50 I'm volunteering because I can't get a job But I just would never assume that somebody was not coming back to the crib. For sure. Especially if they don't have a job. Right. Well, let's talk about some acceptable cheating shoes. I feel like a Converse is a sturdy.
Starting point is 00:17:06 If I'm cheating with somebody, you can run out in a flat Converse. No, you need a memory foam. I feel like a Skechers is a great shoe for cheating. No. It doesn't look good. It doesn't look good, but it gives you that, that you need to sprint. a shape up you might twist an ankle
Starting point is 00:17:22 or something in a shape up no I'm going to say a nice Reebok something quiet low to the ground okay good arch support
Starting point is 00:17:30 maybe a new balance to cheat a new balance but what if Toms Toms no Toms are too flat
Starting point is 00:17:37 yeah you're going to lose your arches but what about a shoe like what about an actual heel if you need to dash there's some cool heels
Starting point is 00:17:45 I think I think a platform is always the best yes well if we want to get specific a jeffrey campbell platform if you're saying that the front toe is rounded very easy to walk in still inconvenient but if you have money and air max is a good cheating shoe melissa got them all right now yeah yeah i would i would cheat in these for sure no they're kind of they
Starting point is 00:18:05 feel like very uh doofy air max wow they're they're not slim no they're not slim well you know maybe a kid a kid's or a good you know you just slip them on you don't even have to lace them up i feel like a nine-year-old in kids i mean because you're so useful you were so little both of you you're not true about to pop off for you she was like yeah she was definitely about to say that how tall are you i'm five two okay see sis you're in the presence of giants we're both five four i never feel how tall i am i feel like i'm the same height as everyone andrew i feel like we're the same height you sit down but you could get your ass knocked back down no look how hot she got the chair like puffed all the way up yeah yeah i like a high chair i'll see you sis
Starting point is 00:18:48 okay uh i i wanted to just like get right into uh how much we all hate carrie yeah yeah she when you watch the show the first time like when you watched it the first time you're like oh cool they're in have you guys both watched it like start to finish no i have yeah it's kind of a very unemployed what was this not now since the show came when did the show come on the air like 99 yeah it was just the 20 year anniversary so it's 98 20 year anniversary already it's starting yeah isn't that wild yeah get out get um what did you ask me oh yeah uh i've watched it all it's kind of weird to see her arch and lack of arch throughout the show like she really doesn't like there's parts where you're like oh did she just get smarter and better oh no never mind i
Starting point is 00:19:37 couldn't help but wonder yeah girl it's rough she never backed up her hard drive that's why i would never have her to be the lead of my friend group. I can't help you. When did you wonder ass bitch? Are you fucking Stevie Wonder? Like what the hell? No. Isn't she lovely? I don't want to. Did you say the leader of your friend group? Who is the leader
Starting point is 00:19:56 of your friend group right now? It's a lead singer? Well Marie you're a bully so therefore like you stand a little bit further in the front. Wow. But it's not because you're the leader. But the wording is wrong. But she is. She's the lead of the show. Right. But you don't have
Starting point is 00:20:12 a leader of your friend group. And the lead should have been Samantha. Samantha was the most interesting. Well, that's part of the reason they're still fighting right now. She was by far the most successful when the show started. She was the least hard or the least ready to commit to being on the show.
Starting point is 00:20:27 And she did all of the comedy was her. Like, pretty much all of the moments that you remember. Samantha. But they didn't want to give a ho the lead. But Carrie was also technically a hoe also. They all are. It was
Starting point is 00:20:43 all of them dating a bunch of people and she was sleeping with Big while he was married. Karen was one of them hippie hoes. Very like urban outfit or free-flowing bitches. They didn't look at it as being a hoe. Samantha would be giving head in an office
Starting point is 00:21:00 and then get caught. She did. But I love that. And then have somebody come in her eye, like just real reckless. Just like, Smith Jared. I freaking love me some And then she'll just rub the semen into her eyes and be like, oh, this is Asian. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:21:19 Yeah. But they had her living in a studio. Remember she lived in a studio apartment? No, I don't remember. Well, her meatpacking place. Meatpacking, yes. Which all of the interiors of their apartments are kind of, oh, also one thing we said, I do the bus tour, which is how I'm not just like a freak for the listeners.
Starting point is 00:21:34 So what does that mean that you do the bus tour? I do the Sex and the City. So I pick up a bunch of usually Australian and European people at the plaza. We go all around where the show was filmed. And then I bring them back to Midtown so they can go back to Times Square. Okay. So what are some of the places that you guys visit? You visit Carrie's apartment.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Carrie's apartment. Which is not where people think it is. Right. All the interiors were at Silver Cup in Queens. Yuck. They all live there. Yeah. So all like anytime.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Like do you remember the egg throwing episode where there's the drag queens on the ground doing eggs at Samantha's? Meatpacking district. Meatpacking. Yeah. so that was all filmed on Gansabor yes
Starting point is 00:22:09 but Samantha's in Queens so they kind of like threw eggs at the window on set and threw an egg on her so you notice you never see them together they did a lot of like
Starting point is 00:22:18 weird come on behind the scenes little tricks yeah that's incredible and then where else I'm sure you guys go to like Magnolia Bakery
Starting point is 00:22:25 we do yeah that's right by Carrie's apartment so we go there we go to O'Neal's in Soho which was Steve and Aiden's bar
Starting point is 00:22:31 Scout I never knew the name of Steve's bar Steve and Aiden had a bar yeah called scout the carpenter yeah the carpenter wait i had a question about the so cafeteria is not the place where they would eat that's kind of a crazy thing they did film a cafeteria but then sometimes they would just use a set and then the menus would be cafe cafe
Starting point is 00:22:52 which was a place in soho that's now closed oh look at us learning things you're incredible Melissa who are you are you a Carrie are you a Samantha are you a Miranda I mean I feel unfortunate on my worst days a Carrie for sure codependent needy selfish
Starting point is 00:23:15 you know the best a Miranda Samantha combo I would say and then they didn't really did they get along Miranda and Samantha that's something we were just talking about that we never really
Starting point is 00:23:28 talk about on the tour. I don't think they shot anything like just the two of them. They never hang out and there was a lot of tension between them when Miranda had a baby. And Samantha was just kind of a dick about it. Like she was like alright get in the cab. Like oh thank god she's gone. Because Miranda was a little bit of a prude.
Starting point is 00:23:45 So whenever Samantha would say anything she'd be like pick up your labia. That was more Charlotte. Miranda wasn't a prude. She just wasn't good with like affection okay so maybe i'm a little bit of a miranda yeah intimacy she had intimacy she's not great with that and she's more just like cut and dry like thick skinned really kind of like down
Starting point is 00:24:06 to business you would feel like the two of them would get along in theory they would but we never see them hanging out miranda's mother died and samantha was not good at expressing like i'm sorry for you um so samantha finally cried at the funeral oh wow and like i'm sorry it really that's a good emotional pull this is how i feel about the show there's so many moments where you're just like oh my absolutely not like this okay so what's some of those absolutely for me one of the absolutely not moments was when aiden proposed and she was like i'm just gonna wear the ring on necklace on the necklace if i was aiden i would have beat her ass i would have thrown the dog for sure any a carpenter i'm like this is a perfect time to throw a hammer at her
Starting point is 00:24:49 Okay, hit her with a two by four. Yeah. I mean, when you push someone into marrying you, that's what's going to happen. But did he push her? Kind of. He asked and she said yes. I think I'm kind of a non-Aiden.
Starting point is 00:25:03 I don't like any of the guys on the show, really, except for who Charlotte ends up with, who is Harry. But he's not cute, though. That's trying to show you, bitch. It's not about, look. Charlotte, they didn't really develop a story. He's going to be sweaty and he has back hair and that's what you get.
Starting point is 00:25:18 That's the dude that's going to go all out for you. Well, because she was married to the other dude first. And it's the best sex, Trey. I don't want sweaty, fat, hairy sex. That's the best sex. Take a pick. That was her best sex. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Whoa. Yeah. Was it? Trey is actually a very fun character. He's very cringy, but Kyle MacLachlan does a very good job with it. You know the actual people's names, too? I can't. The Mother Bunny?
Starting point is 00:25:40 It is my job. Oh, Bunny. I loved Bunny. I loved Bunny. So funny. She's definitely how- When Bunny catches them fucking. Do you remember that?
Starting point is 00:25:48 Yeah. Wait, no. When did she catch them? When they were like in the bushes or something? No, in his apartment. She just walked in. She had no boundaries whatsoever. She got the key.
Starting point is 00:25:58 Charlotte, she's like, the McDougals don't do. She's like, bitch, this is our family home, bitch. Yeah, I'm rolling up in. But then remember they got divorced and she didn't want her to get anything. Anything. That was kind of a crazy episode where Charlotte literally negotiates her contract so she gets a million dollars when she gets divorced which is and the apartment and then carrie bullies her into giving her her engagement ring so carrie can buy her apartment from aiden let's talk let's talk
Starting point is 00:26:26 about okay so aiden bought the apartment for her right for them for them but he also knocked a wall down yeah so what happened to that wall like after they broke up that's a great question it kind of just was back carrie was a bum she was a writer she was a columnist okay and she is paying 600 800 900 for some shoes her life is not realistic she should have had three roommates but she's a quintessential uh example of what the fuck new york is it's smokes and mirrors this is like oh we look like we got it all together but it's like we don't and there's no how do you have that place She should have had a part time job on the show Like there's no way
Starting point is 00:27:09 She should have been walking dogs or something She doesn't take public transportation ever We see her get on the train one time We saw her get on the train In the movie when she went to see Miranda On New Year's Eve For sure but also the beginning of season 6A
Starting point is 00:27:24 She just runs down the stairs to go to Wall Street To ring the bell But that's the only time With the slip ons again The footwear is probably the least realistic part of the show. Her financial situation and what she's walking around in. That's ridiculous. Well, that's why she got robbed in Soho. Remember that?
Starting point is 00:27:41 Yeah, sure do. The dude was like, give me the monoblonics. The only neighborhood where a robber knows the designer of the shoes that he's about to steal. But honestly, these are my favorite shoes. Again, another reason why she wouldn't have been the lead in my friendship or my friend group
Starting point is 00:27:57 is her face. It was hard. It was fucking hard. She looked older than everybody. I'm not being on no age or shit, but it's like and we need to get in the club, we not going to Carrie. For sure. I'm going to hit Samantha.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Samantha knows people and she talks well. And she got that low cut halter shit. She got clavicle showing. And she talks about the beauty treatments. Remember the one episode where she gets a chemical peel and just go to Carrie's book. She wore like a beekeeper thing. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:28:26 She openly talks about Botox. I do like that about the character. She's the fun one. She's the one I'm like, yes, I'm calling you for everything. The show could have just been Samantha and her dusty ass friends. So the real issue is Sarah Jessica and Kim Cattrall, they have real beef. What's the real beef?
Starting point is 00:28:49 Supposedly, it really came to a head the episode where they go to Atlantic City. On the train? No, they take the bus. Richard flies them, actually, and then they go back on the bus. Richard, remember? Dusty ass Richard. Richard, perfect penis. Rich ass, perfect penis Richard. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:04 So supposedly when they all went out to New Jersey, the three girls, excluding Kim Cattrall, got a place to stay. Kim Cattrall was married at the time and she was like, my husband's coming. He ended up not coming. So they stayed together and she stayed by herself and they like didn't invite her to come stay.
Starting point is 00:29:18 This is the story. Okay. And so it really just caused a lot of tension and that's kind of when supposedly they stopped speaking. I think that's season four. No, they were not friends long. Or three. no there was tension before but supposedly that's when things really came to a head
Starting point is 00:29:34 but you can't tell at all in that episode no Samantha's a great actress yeah they really they seem like their best friend for sure for sure but I mean from the beginning like she had already been in mannequin she had like tons of roles before and they came in was kind of like no she's the lead and she was like also I'm doing all of the leg work comedically she's doing the majority of the sex scenes Sarah Jessica Parker had it written into her contract she was never going to show her tits. She was the only one who had that written in. Even now, I think if you do HBO Live. We saw Miranda's tits. You wouldn't see Charlotte's boobs?
Starting point is 00:30:04 Yes, we did, actually. Well, Sarah Jessica Parker had a good manager. She sure did. And good lawyers, too. Okay. Yeah, her contract was insane. She got to keep all of the clothes and shoes that they were given. Good for her. Are you serious? Wait, all of it? I mean, some of it was ugly.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Anything they were given. Anything they were lent. I had to go back. The most expensive thing she wore, do you remember in Paris when Petrovsky like stands her up $30,000 Versace yeah which they had a real
Starting point is 00:30:32 argument about that they were like well how would she pack that like how would this dress even get here like and they were like it doesn't matter I'm gonna bring a dress
Starting point is 00:30:39 like that to France too yeah you should yeah it's gonna be just like that yeah $3,000 anybody have $3,000 $30,000
Starting point is 00:30:47 those are Versace $30,000 I thought you said $3,000 yeah $3,000 I'm thinking of Armani exchange yeah so she yeah how would she pack that yeah they just kind of were like it doesn't matter yeah
Starting point is 00:31:01 but also in i would just assume that she would buy shit there too totally she could have been shopping there but they were like the bigger the dress the bigger you know the devastation and the moment they did that with the wedding too in the first movie yeah i started with that dress charlotte's dress remember her like she has that little like shuffle her legs are like that mermaid dress yeah so that's a zach posen and that was going to be carrie's dress they originally picked that and they were like we don't like that much so they dyed that one black I mean I like the one that she had on when Big
Starting point is 00:31:28 stood her up first of all can we talk about it he called her and she knew something was wrong but she's like I'm having a good time with my girls she's known something was wrong for 10 years something had been wrong she knew for 10 years
Starting point is 00:31:44 she pushed that shit so hard and it was like girl you can't get nobody else in New York City And I know that is the most the biggest flaw in sex in a city is like settle. But in in Carrie's case, if she settles, she's going to be with like a millionaire. And like, that's not New York. Right, right. Well, I think that's not the settling.
Starting point is 00:32:05 I think if she settled, she would be with Aiden. Big is kind of like chasing this unavailable thing, which is one of her characters. She needed to help pay her bills. OK, she was going to write the books forever. But Aiden kind of had money. No, Aiden had money. right how did how did he have money he was just building rocking furniture yeah i mean but he had enough money to buy her place no but i think big i think being with big is oh yeah it's a new level
Starting point is 00:32:30 still because he never had her as like his first interest it was always like okay i guess i'll go to you yeah and then when he finally is like sure but it was like all on his terms she's settling because oh well now he wants to settle down i guess i'm gonna be with him but it's just like He didn't even propose, though. Do you remember how it happened? They went to that like auction or whatever. And that girl was like, it's so sad. It was all out of fear.
Starting point is 00:32:57 Yeah. And then she was like, you know, I'm thinking about selling my place. And he was like, why? Yeah. And she was like, well, let's get married. He does not do it for me. Did she say that? No, he was.
Starting point is 00:33:09 She said if something were to happen, I would have nothing. Like if, you know, I sold my place. So you sound like a gold digger. That's what it sounds like. Yeah, essentially. Also, when she sold her place, didn't it belong to like Charlotte, technically? Low key, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:26 It wasn't even her apartment. Charlotte, if I was Charlotte, I would have put up like, so we're selling my place now? Yeah. Excuse me, is this my place? Yeah, for sure. But she definitely settled.
Starting point is 00:33:39 I see what Sydney's saying and I see what you're saying too, but like she could have, she dated like a- Settled for like not your ideal treatment by somebody yeah right because he was still gonna be and he'd been married a bunch of times like i don't want to be with somebody who'd be married 18 times who got that much baggage also let's talk about it idris elba got married recently he's been married three times so who'd he marry
Starting point is 00:34:00 some model she black belts so you know we stand i support we approve yeah um i think if you're in the spotlight like that though you're gonna get married maybe a few times really yeah because it's just like people are in your business and if you're marrying uh i don't know a civilian or somebody who's not another celebrity they're not gonna be here for that shit all the time yeah like you have no privacy everything is out you're gonna be on instagram live monday through friday yeah that's true but also you could just not get married i would i would oprah it oprah's like yeah i'm not getting my billion dollars she's like yeah but it comes down to the thing about if
Starting point is 00:34:44 I don't have anything and that's what marriage entails it's like you're putting your funds together we have money now we also have debt now this is our debt that's why whoever marries me you're welcome what's mine is yours
Starting point is 00:34:59 we owe $20,000 to US Bank you owe $20,000 to US Bank no I did at one point I did a really good job I went to Europe for like a month and you spent $20,000 Oh, you bought a little baby Versace situation? No, it wasn't 20.
Starting point is 00:35:16 But, you know, don't lie to me. It was close. Where did you go in Europe? My cousin studied abroad and married her study abroad boyfriend in France. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:35:27 I feel like that's, you know, she should have been more of a hoe. I know. I know. That's definite. She lives in France? So she lives there. Yeah, she's a French lady.
Starting point is 00:35:35 That's amazing. When you go on these tours, like, do you have people who are just like fanatics that know everything that try to one-up you on the information.
Starting point is 00:35:43 Yes. You say something and they're like, actually? Episode four, season six. Yeah. And that is when
Starting point is 00:35:49 being a comedian does come in comics. Someone's like, okay, nerd or whatever and just like, you know, kind of shut them up. But what kind of things
Starting point is 00:35:55 do people try to like question you on or challenge you on? There was one guy who was very specific about, do you remember the article that they read where they see Big and Natasha
Starting point is 00:36:06 and they're actually, they're at Cipriani in Soho And they open the newspaper and they find it And he's like Ashley they're not married yet And I was just kind of in it and I was like oh yeah Maybe that was an engagement announcement and I like corrected myself And later I was like no I was Completely right like they have the wedding details
Starting point is 00:36:21 About you know the song That you know she walked down the aisle to and all this stuff I was like no shut the fuck up and you know So I kind of got him back I can see the guy on the bus that's like um actually Exactly I low key think the show ruined New York City
Starting point is 00:36:36 That is a common opinion A lot of people flocked here because of that. Tourism went up the roof, skyrocketed. And then all the places that they went to, now they're like, oh, well, we're popping now. This was in Sex and the City. Budokan? Totally.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Have you been to Budokan? That's one of the stops. Oh, my God, baby. It's so expensive for, you know, Budokan. Wait, what did they do? Was there an engagement party at Budokan? That's exactly what it was. And actually, the New Year's scene was filmed there as well,
Starting point is 00:37:06 where Stanford and Anthony get together. It's not Indian. It's Asian, though. It's Asian fusion. Asian fusion. That's what they say. That means it's white people cooking. But it's just trendy.
Starting point is 00:37:16 It's just trendy. It's Asian fusion, and I went there, and there was these little lollipop chicken skewer things. Like $20-something dollars for them. It's only four. I was like, what? But how did the chicken taste? It was cool.
Starting point is 00:37:34 I didn't pay. so anytime I don't eat then I don't have to pull my money out I'm like this is great this is the best beautiful
Starting point is 00:37:42 it had a peanut sauce on it yeah it was I hate peanut sauce I don't really do peanut sauce either I don't like it that's not for me either I'm not really a pad thai
Starting point is 00:37:51 no I don't like a pad thai I'm here for like a basil fried rice or like a pineapple fried rice love that and a patsy oo patsy oo
Starting point is 00:37:58 is that drunken noodles close to drunken noodles kind of patsy oo it's like sweeter that's good diabetes noodles Exactly
Starting point is 00:38:06 I love that Sex in the City Ruin New York And do you talk about that On the tour Yeah I do Especially the meatpacking district Because that was like
Starting point is 00:38:14 A very cool area And one of the worst episodes As far as like Where the obvious difference In political correctness Because they say the word Tranny a lot in that episode They do
Starting point is 00:38:25 It's really fucked up Carrie does like a voice Of some sort at the end Like two It's crazy Girlfriend You know this It's crazy
Starting point is 00:38:34 Oh, is that when they end up on the roof? On the rooftop, yeah. Oh, you know it, girlfriend. It is rough. It is rough. It is rough. She must want to rip her eyeballs out. Yeah, but she had on little booty shorts and a cute little look.
Starting point is 00:38:46 She does look good. But a lot of her outfits, because she's known for her fashion, but a lot of the outfits, when you look at the pictures now, they're not good. They're just expensive. She had a belt literally just around her bare midriff. And then a skirt. she had like a cute
Starting point is 00:39:01 like body so it just worked which is part of the reason they casted her yeah she and Patricia Field were like friends before so they had like
Starting point is 00:39:08 a lot of ideas and often times they were trying to like rope that in but then it became so much a part of the show and sometimes how they funded the show
Starting point is 00:39:16 like being given stuff I mean product placement was a huge part of it too oh the movie was just product placement remember that ugly ass Louis Vuitton
Starting point is 00:39:23 they gave Jennifer what's her face Hudson I know it was like sis that is the ugliest person absolutely not I'm going to be caught dead.
Starting point is 00:39:31 And what is that? Denim on denim on denim? Yeah. It looks like Destiny's Child, House of Derry on. Derry all wrong. Do it all wrong. Wait, who had all the denim on? It wasn't the bag.
Starting point is 00:39:40 The bag was like a jean. I thought the bag was like Louis Vuitton with the cherries on it. No. No. I thought it was the cherries. It was like a jean with like the lighter denim as the LVs. It's nasty. It's ugly.
Starting point is 00:39:52 And, you know, let's drag Sex and the City for what it is. I mean, the fact that they didn't have a single black friend. more black more asian more latin it was just every time they had a black or latin or asian person it was specifically placed for a certain episode and then you never see them again storyline too you never see them again completely right completely because i mentioned blair underwood up top but i think oh and then samantha dated a black dude at one point and it's kind of a weird fucked up storyline with that where it's like his family doesn't want that and it's just kind of like a mess because you're white everything's so toned it's really yeah
Starting point is 00:40:28 I mean even during that time during that those years what was it early 2000s nah they would be like oh you got you a nice white woman I'm so good for you I was like his sister don't even look militant like that stop it you see her curl pattern
Starting point is 00:40:44 she look partially white her father was Scottish come on now cause you're white but you're dabs we're cousins you be at the cookouts with me so that and then carrie never dated a black dude and which is fine but she also never dated like an asian dude or like a latin dude um and then miranda i feel like would end up with somebody like just based on the
Starting point is 00:41:09 circle she ran yeah my theory about what should have happened with miranda is this was a good place to show a you know different type of family where steve maybe ends up with debbie who was very hot liked his mom a lot and she was dating the doctor for the knicks that was a great who played the doctor oh that was blair yeah and i don't like him so i didn't i was happy to see him but i thought that was a good i haven't liked him since set it off that's fair that movie with jada pinkett where he was like or i i also hated him in um i just hate him in everything that he does that movie with senna lathan when she like takes her weave out and he's like i like you better with your hair straight it was like shut up Blair Underwood wait he was in that movie yeah
Starting point is 00:41:52 something Napoli ever happened no no something new something new she was dating that white dude from that show um they had Samantha hook up with everybody and um she was gay for a minute she was pansexual she was a lot I was like damn girl they got her doing everything I was like she's versatile though okay and they were also not cool about her being bi at all Carrie is supposed to be a sex columnist and is the prudest i mean the one party she goes to where she you know kisses women for five seconds she's freaking out about it i think she says at one point that bisexuality is a one-way stop to gay town or something it's like a really fucked up like yeah but that made sense around that time though who were the writers on the show like where do they work women i mean
Starting point is 00:42:39 do you remember the movie um he's just not that into you or the book he's just not that into you Sure. That was some of the writers. And then it was Michael Patrick King and Darren Star. Okay, yes, because I remember those names. Yeah. So Darren Star is younger now with Hilary Duff, who four people watch that show. But it's still on, though.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Because it's on, like, TV. It's on TV Land. TV Land. I'm sure more people would watch it if it was on a different network. Isn't TV Land just Nick at Night rebranded? I have no idea. It's under the Paramount umbrella now. Really?
Starting point is 00:43:08 Mm-hmm. But I feel like... Good for them. Good for Hilary Duff. I feel like that's the channel that, like, Bewitched and stuff used to come on. Yeah. Ain't nobody watching that shit. I do.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Exactly. No one's watching it. Yeah. And yet here she is, just younger. Okay. Let's talk about this. They were all up in arms because, you know, they wanted to do another Sex and the City movie.
Starting point is 00:43:26 And they were like, Kim Cattrall was like, no, because she got beefed. But also it was just like, what's y'all old hoes going to do now that we want to see? Right. Because didn't we end the last movie at Kim's 50th birthday party? That was not even the most recent movie she turned 50. Okay. That was the first one. The second one, she's older than that.
Starting point is 00:43:44 I mean, that's one thing I do want to see. I do want to see dating at that point. Yeah, I want to see hot flashes. I would watch it for all of that. The rumor was that at the beginning of the third movie script that they had written, Big dies. And Carrie is getting over. Yeah, honestly, I think that'd be cathartic for a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:44:03 But then it's just her. He died of a heart attack? Yeah, exactly. He was awful. He should. you know he eats terribly he does drinks a lot of wine
Starting point is 00:44:13 but then I think it was the whole thing was like her getting over it and then it was like kind of another movie based around Big even if he wasn't in it was supposedly
Starting point is 00:44:21 what they said because Kim Kim Cattrall Kim Cattrall's like I want to see that storyline she's like I don't need the money she's still getting her residuals from TBS
Starting point is 00:44:29 she's making some interesting choices is she on Broadway right now no she's in like some CBS show they made like another kind of like modern day fairy tale
Starting point is 00:44:38 type of movie or show series on cbs she was on and then there's something else where i think she's like playing a grandma or something yo i bet you um cynthia and what's the other charlotte what's charlotte's real name kristin davis i bet they was mad as fuck they was like you don't want to get this money yeah yeah yo if i was kristin davis i would have pulled up on game control like totally i don't give a fuck about this problem get over it i need this money yes yeah but i feel like um charlotte kristin is it kirsten kirsten kristin davis i feel like kristin davis has money though
Starting point is 00:45:14 she played charlotte so well she's fine felt like she came from okay yes she's fine but you can get more money let's go there's millions of dollars they're missing out on they're still getting paid for the show though yeah but it's on tv literally all the time i can get more are you telling me that i should have won more money yeah is that what you're saying marie i'm saying that you could but if i was kim and you text me that mess i'd be like sis you sound poor i'd be like oh honey you sound poor and then i would hang up on you that being said they did throw two gay friends on the show like they had like gay accessories yeah yeah but they weren't attractive no i mean mario canton's cute
Starting point is 00:46:00 sure he's cute but stanford's boyfriend is cute do you remember marcus yeah they would always have Come with like the gay hoes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He was like a go-go boy or something, right? Like a pool boy. Well, he was.
Starting point is 00:46:12 And then he was like a cabaret star. But then he digs around and finds out that he was like in porn. Which is fine. I know. Which is fine. Do you know how many gay people have texted me that they matched with a porn star and they're excited about it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:26 For sure. He should have been excited about it. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it. At the time, they tried to make it kind of a storyline. Like, what does he do? I wouldn't date a porn star. But like, you know. You know.
Starting point is 00:46:34 lots of people too you know they got skills and stuff absolutely or whatever yeah I feel like they did the gays terrible on the show
Starting point is 00:46:41 yeah and then to have them like get together I mean that is the one redeeming quality of the second film I feel like is the opening
Starting point is 00:46:49 wedding scene I don't know if you guys saw the second film I did Carrie had a tuxedo on yeah I love that when you get married
Starting point is 00:46:55 I'm wearing a tuxedo I could definitely see that and a mask well that's crazy because I'm going to be wearing a tuxedo so who won't wear a tuxedo so you're just going to
Starting point is 00:47:02 look like a third a throuple sis wasn't Liza Minnelli in the second movie yes she was at the wedding it was it is a wild
Starting point is 00:47:12 opening scene yeah but the whole rest of the movie is problematic as fuck it is awful I don't even remember the second movie that's so good
Starting point is 00:47:21 oh they went to Dubai so good they go to Dubai at the end there's like these ladies and they're like come with us and they're like
Starting point is 00:47:28 look at their shoes and they take off yeah exactly it's crazy like oh All women are the same. We're all, you know, consumer driven. Look at us.
Starting point is 00:47:36 That was kind of the weird, like, quote unquote, feminist quality of the show was, of course, it was groundbreaking. It was showing like a different way of life, being single in your 30s, you know, not necessarily having to be married, whatever, but also completely fell into, you know, a capitalist world where it's like, oh, you can have your money and also your own money. Buy the shoes. But you touched on it before. That's what the movies were.
Starting point is 00:47:58 It was just a giant commercial for all of like the clothes that they were being sent. And Patricia Field was just like, remember she had like a photo shoot and it was like all the different dresses for Vogue. Yes. And it was like amazing you picked up on that. Right. And if you watch the later seasons, you'll notice how many more times Carrie changes clothes in an episode because they were just getting so much shit. They were like, how can we feasibly have her change clothes this many times? It was a big ass show.
Starting point is 00:48:21 It was definitely iconic and I get it. But it's just at the same time. It's just like when I when I read or not read, but just listen to the writing, I'm like oblivious white women that I mean, for sure. And it's just like for sure that is white men and white men. No, but weren't the most of the writers women? Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, I thought you meant the male characters.
Starting point is 00:48:42 No, no, no. I'm talking about the writer's room. Oh, yeah. There were men as well. They can live in this world. Yes, completely live in this world where all of these money, all these women are successful except Carrie. But then she's like, yeah. And she makes her money off of her friends kind of
Starting point is 00:48:57 So it's kind of like a weird I think that's an accurate assessment And like it did a lot of good For culture at the time I think like whenever I watch it through that I mean putting women's sexuality At the forefront some anti-slut Shaming type of stuff
Starting point is 00:49:12 If you're in Ohio And you're like you know right after college You married your high school boyfriend Whatever and you moved across the street from your parents Exactly and then you see like this whole other world and this different way of living you know it's like new york city no i'd be like bitch you drink mountain dew absolutely not this is not your life completely i get it completely yes but people people who live in the midwest and wherever they would watch the show and they would come to new
Starting point is 00:49:38 york thinking that's what new york was people still do that they still they think that part of my job is to explain that it's not right and show them some of the ways that it is but like they think that they can just throw a stiletto on and walk to the train it's like says you don't have you don't know that between takes they were putting on uggs yeah yeah and you don't definitely want to get too dressed up at night taking the train like that's not a look right for sure because you because those people who live in all those different places and then come to new york thinking that sex in the city is real they they realize real quick that cabs are too expensive to be just jumping in and out of all they look foolish as hell they look like the people who
Starting point is 00:50:15 be on the path that come here to try to party on the weekend yeah you ain't got no coat you wear I need stupid shoes. And you're taking the path home. And you're taking the path home. And you're going to be fucking scared as fuck. Taking the path straight back to New Jersey. Taking the path right back. Yeah, it's sad.
Starting point is 00:50:30 I will say, too, just as far as, you know, making a show, this was groundbreaking the way it filmed, too, because everything has been done on sets. Most shows that take place in New York do not film here. They're on sets. They do all these, you know, kind of dumb things. Like, you know, there's a couple spots where I point out on the tour, Will and Grace, you know, they'll show a building and then cut to L.A.
Starting point is 00:50:48 this was good for New York and that it allowed other shows to then film here because of like tax laws that were changed. There's a lot of people employed. Yeah, they broke down a lot of barriers as far as filming in the city and like bringing a lot of locations light, which was good and bad. Like you said, it kind of ruined a lot of spots. Yeah, but if
Starting point is 00:51:04 they blow up as soon as it was on the show. If I own Budokan or I own cafeteria or I own any of those places that they ate, then I'm like well look at me. And when it first started, they were like why would we shut down our business for a day so your dumb show can film here
Starting point is 00:51:18 and you know it changed immediately and people were like yes yes yes we'll shut down for the week you have to take your time after they saw
Starting point is 00:51:25 how many like fans and shit they have they're like oh for sure this is actually helping me well it's weird because it was like
Starting point is 00:51:31 HBO at the time was like nothing it was like you know boxing matches and porn like the Sopranos hadn't even started yet yes boxing matches
Starting point is 00:51:38 I had a cable box yeah that we would like what's that yeah what's that show that was like real sex stories Yeah, real sex.
Starting point is 00:51:47 Real sex. Yeah. I wonder if that started. I think that started after Sex and the City. I don't know. I never looked that up. It was a good time. I miss that New York, man.
Starting point is 00:51:56 Everything is getting shut down left and right. I know. I've gone through so many places where I'm just sad. Because I'm like, yo. Like the fact that, what's that place called? The coffee shop is gone. Coffee shop. In Union Square.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Which was, do you know what episode was filmed there? No, tell us. Two scenes in one episode when she goes on a date with Jon Bon Jovi. right before that twister scene in her apartment I don't even remember that she meets him in therapy
Starting point is 00:52:20 and then she's like why are you in therapy and he's like oh I fuck someone and I lose interest and she's like oh good
Starting point is 00:52:26 I picked the wrong guys and then you know they're together and then the sports night scene was filmed there too where they walk in and there's all these dudes
Starting point is 00:52:33 and they're all watching sports and Samantha meets that guy who will like only fuck her when his team wins so she became a fan so she was like I love sports
Starting point is 00:52:41 she's like the next the next love the next oh my god Remember the episode where the guy was, like, calling Charlotte a whore? Yeah. Every time he came. And he was, like, black.
Starting point is 00:52:51 I don't remember it. He's like, you stupid, dumb, cunty whore. And she'd be like, what? Don't hurt my feelings. Yeah. You're shit. I fucked you in the ass. Like, just dumb.
Starting point is 00:53:00 You're a dumb whore. You're a dumb whore. Charlotte banged some frogs, huh? Yes. Yes, she did. But, I mean, at the end of the day, she had the best life after everybody else. I mean, she had a miscarriage and whatnot, and that sucked. Wow.
Starting point is 00:53:14 she did but a miscarriage and like and then everything else i'm like but then she had a baby didn't she did after they adopted a baby she had right they adopted the baby and the baby was end of the first movie or no she had a baby and the baby was colicky in the second movie is that what the second movie exactly yeah it's pretty much she has a hot nanny and she's annoyed by her kids oh i don't even remember the nudie the second movie was so bad it was unnecessary that i was like you guys are so desperate and lazy and you can't do both yeah either either you're desperate and you're gonna put some shit together or you lazy and you're like y'all need this y'all thirsty yeah and i think that's the reason kim cattrall won't do it there were like fundamental
Starting point is 00:53:54 character things like she says multiple times in the series like i'll never do karaoke and they have a big fucking karaoke scene with samantha it was just like dumb stuff but i but i say that i say i'll never do karaoke but every time i do do it i'm like this is good but i'm never gonna Everyone goes back on it. I hate karaoke. Everyone goes back. We've enjoyed good times doing karaoke before, though. We've had some good times, but every time I see people who are, like, really into it,
Starting point is 00:54:17 I'm like, go home. Carolina. Carolina goes on first dates to karaoke. I know. I know. I don't know you, and I'm singing with you? I respect that. Well, she is good.
Starting point is 00:54:27 So? She is very good at it. I don't want to hear a cover song with you as the cup. No. But that being said, Carolina has a really good voice. there are some songs i'll never tell her this but there are some songs that i know and carolina does it i'm like i would listen to that on spotify we're gonna tell her not to listen to this episode exactly tell her i know she's like yeah carolina stop it carolina i we did karaoke together once
Starting point is 00:54:55 we were i think we were singing the boy is mine or something like some type of i would love to duet and you know i'm just you know karaoke singing she started ad-libbing she's hitting all these weird vocal fries I was like Carolina I will never sing with you again she's like like sick I was like girl I'm never like this is embarrassing women who like karaoke there's a lot going on yep they need some help it's like you can you can go in a shower and do all that for sure why do you want to be in front of like if you do stand up sometimes I feel like oddly selfish if I like go out and do karaoke I'm like I do shit like this just go do a show Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:55:36 Go do a show. Take your ass home. I agree. You don't have to do a show. You don't have to do karaoke. Just go home. Yeah. Or just do it and live your life.
Starting point is 00:55:43 Kim Cattrall did it, you know. If Samantha could do karaoke, you could do karaoke. You can do karaoke. Yeah, whatever. Okay. How old, like what was the age difference between all of them? Because if Kim is 50, how old was Carrie when that happened? I mean, there's almost a 10-year age difference.
Starting point is 00:56:00 because when the show ended Samantha's I think in her mid 40s and Carrie's in like her mid to late 30s or late 30s I would say
Starting point is 00:56:11 no offense them hoes look old from junk like their first season them curls oh they look all of them dry
Starting point is 00:56:19 wet and wild haggard everybody literally I was like y'all look better older the first step as a pilot
Starting point is 00:56:26 is she does look rough Sarah Jessica had a had a perm or something it was it was the curls were not great tragic yeah she would have like some blue eyeliner in the like under eye i'm like sis in the under eye i was like what are we doing and they used to do talking head stuff remember they would talk to camera that is yeah yes and it was like the hook is this and the next thing they're like please never we can't we can't do this yeah it was but like the talk to the camera thing is like an h i feel like it's an
Starting point is 00:56:55 hbo thing it is well the person who stopped that was sarah jessica parker ferris bueller's day off sure her husband Matthew Broderick who was Ferris Bueller she was like he's the only one who can pull that off I'm not doing this anymore
Starting point is 00:57:05 so it was like her choice to not do that you know what she's the problem she's the it's not Kim Carrie Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker
Starting point is 00:57:13 is the problem you think so yeah because she because Kim was the bigger star when we came they came into it
Starting point is 00:57:20 but then Carrie Bradshaw was this huge thing that everybody knew and recognized and I feel like she turned into a dick because of it
Starting point is 00:57:28 probably and she was also producer and writer on the show. So she had a lot more power. And writer, that means she was moving commas. She was like, actually, the comma should go there. She wasn't in the writing room. Yeah, but Kim probably felt some type of way and was like, I'm not happy for you, bitch.
Starting point is 00:57:42 I'm not. Yeah. 100%. 100%. And I mean, that's the crazy thing about this industry is that any little thing, you could be humbled as fuck just because you thought you were in one place in your career and then all of a sudden it's like, actually, you're going to be playing
Starting point is 00:57:57 somebody's mother now. It's like, what? yeah it's like a mom I'm in my mid to late 30s I mean yeah it was did we learn anything from the show did we like anything it's weird it feels like it's teaching you things but you're like this is not the right lesson it's weird I don't know it's like yes and no I think that it does a good job of like demonstrating the patterns of damaged people yeah I mean it was entertaining too. They were parts of the show that were really good. And it's good to zone out too, you know. There's a lot
Starting point is 00:58:33 of people come on the tour like, this got me through my divorce. Shut up, wow. Okay, god fuck. This got me through my divorce. Hilarious. What's his name? Jaroski? Alexander Petrovsky. When he smacked the shit out of her.
Starting point is 00:58:48 I was like, oh, Sex and the City, y'all going in. I don't even remember him hitting her. I was like, y'all doing domestic abuse now? He slapped her. yes he had like paint on his hand it was crazy i was like did he just jackson pollock her face no that was in paris yeah is that when big came yes and then they like laugh about it it's very weird like big finds her and they end up like on the floor at the hotel and he's like you got slapped and then they have a laugh it's fucking bizarre i mean honestly i would i would laugh
Starting point is 00:59:17 about something like that too yeah it's just a friend or a significant other she's remember when you got smacked your face all red meanwhile she was dripped in like chanel or you said lauren and it's just like you letting some nigga just smack the shit out of you and thirty thousand dollars with her clothes his work clothes and his painter coveralls yeah i mean i don't know if that's what he had on but he had crocs on she he open-handed he had the mario batali crocs I just want to let y'all know We are not laughing about domestic abuse We're laughing about domestic abuse
Starting point is 00:59:52 Happening to Carrie We want to make it really specific And how realistic is it that she moved To Paris for him It happens She was too old for that But everyone around her Is getting married and wiped up
Starting point is 01:00:10 And settling down and she's alone I think that was literally just them showing how scared she was to be alone. That is some settling BS right there. Yes, for sure. Gave up her entire, quit her job. But she didn't really have a lot going on. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:00:24 She had, at that time, had already written some books. People, like, she had gotten, like, advances and stuff. Like, people knew who she was. She was working at Vogue, and they were like, do you really need to be here? I guess. She was not a necessity at Vogue. I liked her editor at Vogue.
Starting point is 01:00:37 Yes, Eden. Then he hit on her. Oh, that one, yeah. That's sexual assault. That was fucked up. He pulled his pants down. Who was that? I was talking about the lady.
Starting point is 01:00:46 Oh, the lady, yeah. Who was that? Eden is great. He also worked at Vogue. That was going to be her mentor, and then she switched over to Eden. But wasn't it a famous person that played him? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:55 Wasn't it like Matthew McConaughey or something? No. He's older. No. Matthew McConaughey was in it. Or no. Yes, he was in it. I feel like he was.
Starting point is 01:01:03 He's in the LA episodes. Ah. As Matthew McConaughey. As Matthew McConaughey. And they originally casted Alec Baldwin in that role. Oh, he would have been perfect. Which is so weird, yeah. But he would have been perfect.
Starting point is 01:01:12 He a grumpy old fucking terrible man. Mr. Baldwin. Can we do like an honorary character that we didn't really chat about? Jared. I really fuck with Jared because he was down for Samantha the whole time. Oh, Smith Jared? Smith Jared the whole time. But ain't no nigga with no abs going to be sticking around.
Starting point is 01:01:30 You got cancer too, bitch? Your hair coming out? Ain't no way he not pulling no stunts. Bye. You don't think he going to be gay a little bit on the weekends? Come on now. Oh, for sure he was totally gay. Come on now.
Starting point is 01:01:41 Smith Jared? Absolutely. Remember when he bought her that ringer with that ugly-ass ring that she wanted? She's like, I wanted to buy it for myself. Shut up. Shut up, girl. Yeah, that is real rough. He paid like $50,000 or $60,000 for that ring.
Starting point is 01:01:56 At an auction, right? Right. She was like, $50,000. And I'm like, dude, you could have just gave me that money. Right, mind you, Carrie's standing there trying to figure out how she's going to pay her bills. I know. She's like, you spent $50,000? I did like the differences in their financial situations, like when it was shown.
Starting point is 01:02:13 Yeah. That was fun. And like when Carrie's laptop breaks and she's like at the tech service spot and she's like, yeah, I have $200 in savings. And it's like, cool. Like be somewhat realistic. If anybody listening to this right now is, if anybody listening to this episode right now is in their 40s and only has $200 in their savings, since you did it wrong, you did it
Starting point is 01:02:35 wrong. You're living wrong. Yeah. Sydney? Marie you just got hot off a show you got coins now Sydney even before I did the show I had more than $200 saved
Starting point is 01:02:46 you need a rainy day fund are you good with saving money I'm not great with saving money but I'm not but like if you had an emergency and you needed I don't know a thousand dollars yes I could come up with a thousand dollars Sydney
Starting point is 01:03:01 I'll figure it out that's more than $200 saved she was exaggerating Andrew he said his parents Andrew how about you Andrew to mama and to papa
Starting point is 01:03:12 Andrew's calling his mom he's like hi mom we need $2,000 okay before we wrap this up you know you obviously
Starting point is 01:03:20 you are the expert of this because this is your job but um if you were I better be if you were able to meet Carrie in real life
Starting point is 01:03:28 the character what's three things you would say to her oh my god that's great you've been thinking about that for a long time look at me
Starting point is 01:03:33 doing my job okay so you made that deadline okay that is a great question I would tell her to stop fucking around with both of these dudes whoever she's obsessed with I mean I guess it depends on what time
Starting point is 01:03:47 I'm meeting her what season nah she was bad in all the seasons you're saying you can't have two men at the same damn time is that what you're saying I'm just saying both of those dudes are not good I would tell her to go to therapy for sure handle some of that
Starting point is 01:04:03 that was missing she didn't have a therapist but for one episode did miranda have a therapist i feel like one of them was in therapy she was for one episode and it was dr g and it was the most healthy she's ever been for that two seconds that she decided i couldn't help but wonder yeah and i would tell her to stop saying i couldn't help but wonder for sure i say stop get all of that out of your vocabulary but i couldn't help but wonder is is their version of the low and order dun dun I couldn't help but wonder and you're like oh okay they about to go to somebody's house
Starting point is 01:04:37 yeah you know something's coming Sydney what would you say to Carrie Bradshaw um girl them shoes nah you didn't need all them damn shoes all them shoes and some of them were ugly a lot of them were ugly
Starting point is 01:04:52 and that's another thing that I hate about the show y'all don't even know what fashion is like the stuff that y'all throwing on her cause she's skinny it's like not all skinny is great I'm not going to sit here for the skinny slander I mean there was a couple times I was like is she alright
Starting point is 01:05:08 Carrie's frail You're 37 Well and she was pregnant in some of the season So you can't tell if someone is pregnant All of season 5 There's only 8 episodes but they show her It's the only time you see her stomach And she doesn't have ads and she's fully pregnant
Starting point is 01:05:25 I thought she had a surrogate For the kids Her second kids she did but the first one she had during the show and Cynthia Nixon was pregnant that same season. Cynthia Nixon got well Cynthia Nixon was married to a dude then left him and is with women
Starting point is 01:05:40 got gay? Got gay. America's got gay Merch! Got gay Oh my god! Got gay! We're doing this fucking merch Marie Merch! On the back of the jackets Got gay. And then the two other things it's like I don't know I really can't tell if
Starting point is 01:05:55 Sarah Jessica Parker is not Carrie or Carrie's Sarah Jessica I feel like they're too close together I can't tell I don't know if you act in this Sarah Jessica Parker can't really dress that well
Starting point is 01:06:05 in real life and she'll try to throw on some Carrie type things and you're like sis you need to call Patricia Field that ain't delicious have you seen her shoe line
Starting point is 01:06:13 yeah which also you can go to the store I've met her at the store before she will just she'll be there she works there yeah
Starting point is 01:06:19 where is the store Foot Locker Midtown did you say she's putting on shoes like Foot Locker wow she got a striped blouse on. He's working there.
Starting point is 01:06:30 Horizontal lines though. There's one downtown. Yo, that's the shadiest thing you said all day, Melissa. Thank you for saving it for the very end. You're like, uh, San Francisco partner put on a shoe on my foot, so. She did, yeah. She just like us. But are her shoes cute? In my mind, her shoes are like, they're like
Starting point is 01:06:46 little Macy's shoes or something. They're a step up from Macy's I would say, but they're not a big price tag. I mean, it's out of my range, but you know. Let me tell. Yeah. There's one in Midtown there's one in Financial District
Starting point is 01:07:00 oh two locations and they're both called are they called Sarah Jessica Parker yeah SGP Collection last thing I would say to her
Starting point is 01:07:06 she got a lot of nerve SGP Collection she thinks she's Michael Kors I would do that that's cute SBW SBW Collection
Starting point is 01:07:15 the SBWs I'd be like oh I see you got them SBWs on you just got out of jail Sydney if you had a shoe collection it'd be
Starting point is 01:07:23 SBWs it'd be the shoes that the prisoners wore ew ew that's merch right there the SBWs remember when Steph Curry had the sneaker line
Starting point is 01:07:32 the SBWs would look like that the resort SBWs that would be an espadrille with like a skinny heel yeah yeah yeah last thing I'm like Carrie get you some brown friends sis yikes
Starting point is 01:07:48 for sure that's too many seasons of you just not like getting the variety of people you couldn't help but wonder what the black people were doing you would have not a single colored friend a brown friend a cool like Indian friend
Starting point is 01:08:03 J-Lo was hot during that time you didn't have a J-Lo mind you even Will and Grace has put J-Lo on yeah right she's done episodes of that show I don't know so let's end by saying who which characters we think we are most like I feel like I'm a mix
Starting point is 01:08:20 of Miranda and Renda cause like intimacy issues not that they're issues and Samantha because she was like the meanest or the most honest of all the people in the group yeah and then maybe like a tiny bit Carrie because like I'd be doing dumb stuff too totally
Starting point is 01:08:35 I always say that I am Kristen Johnson who plays Lexi in the episode where it's the later season and she falls out the window oh my god the party girl why is everyone fun anymore she fell out the window
Starting point is 01:08:52 she was doing coke in the bathroom I'm so bored I can die And then she falls out the window and dies. I love that. So you're her as a whore? That's what I say. Wow. They didn't print that in out when they interviewed us.
Starting point is 01:09:04 I'm a mix of Miranda and Steve. No, no, no. A mix of... And Steve. I'm a Steve. I'm Samantha and Steve. Because I be bumming it, but I'm also a boss bitch, you know? Totally.
Starting point is 01:09:18 Like, I'm going to have my shit together. I'll possibly have cancer. Who knows? And then Steve, because I love a couch. Sydney, if you get cancer, I'm not shaving my braids for you. I know you're not. I'm not even going to ask such a thing. I'll wear like a bald cap.
Starting point is 01:09:33 I'll wear straight back cornrows with a do-rag. No. A flesh colored do-rag. Marie would be flicking her hair in front of me like, ooh, girl, so great, right? Girl, my edges are hurting me today. They're so heavy. Yeah, just the growth. You're a nightmare.
Starting point is 01:09:48 Steve and Samantha. Yes, that's what I did. I love your friend. Melissa, you're an outstanding. you really really educated us uh we had really good chats where can people catch you what can they come see you on the tour yeah yes i love that i mean on location tours is how you book the tour we have a podcast about sex in the city not to steal from no audience it is called speaking of carrie oh speaking of you speaking of carrie you couldn't call it i couldn't help but wonder i feel
