Hey everyone, it's Alden.
And Seth.
Here for the second and final week of this year's Max Fun Drive.
Happy Max Fun Drive, everyone.
We are here to remind you to support, to upgrade your membership if you can, to boost your membership with a one-time gift.
And as we promised, this week we're back to tell you about the stuff you can get if you support us on Max Fun.
Capital S stuff.
There's been a week of space between last week's episode and now.
That's true.
Ourselves are back.
The Zima coin has landed on the third side.
Exactly.
There's no more hard sell about how we can't make the show without support
and how that support would mean more than ever before,
which is true because it's a time when it's harder to fund art and media.
No, no, no, no.
We're not going to tug at your heartstrings to get you to loosen the purse strings.
We would never.
Right.
So if you're like, oh, I love the show, sure, it'll feel great to support and you need the help.
But, like, what's in it for me?
Yeah.
Buckle up.
It's a lot.
That's right.
It's a lot of stuff.
Perhaps most immediately the thing you can get is kudos,
appreciation from us live during an end-of-drive live stream
where several of us from the show will be there to entertain you
with fun and games and goofs and appreciation this Friday,
May 1st, 2026, 9 p.m. Eastern, live on our YouTube channel.
Link in the show notes, please join us.
And next we have bonus content.
Bonus content.
Lots of it.
Yeah, including a brand.
new bonus episode where old Durf calls Pleck and the rest of the crew of the Bargerian Jade,
remember them and demands that they provide blurbs for his memoir. It's super fun. If you've missed
the OG crew like we have, here's a chance to hang out with them. It's live right now. Yeah, so that new
bonus episode is already in Max Funn's Boko feed, along with more than a dozen past exclusive
bonus episodes we've made. That includes lots of live episodes that have never been in the public
feed. There's a sleep tape, sound effects breakdowns. There's just like an incredible trove of
of extra stuff. Yeah. And you'll also get an invitation to the Mission to Zix Discord, which is a
great place to hang out. We're there all the time. I'm there, maybe too much. And your family
definitely tells me that. And it's also where we source content for the show, like our name suggestions
for NPCs and place names and Mission to D6, ideas for other one-off episodes. And, you know, we also
just source content for our lives.
Yeah.
Which some people call conversation with friends.
That's true.
So you get that at five dollars.
Can me I source content for my life.
Tell me what is up.
I think I made a friend today.
So that, you get all of that at $5 a month.
That's right.
The entry level tier and you get all of that stuff.
All the bonus, all the sourcing.
But at, yeah, that stuff.
The friendship for robots.
At higher levels, there's even more stuff.
That's right.
And most years, as you might know, Max Funn offers enamel pins for every show on the network.
This year is no different, except it's a little different.
The pins are dangly.
Well, that's a weird thing to say.
I think you're saying they're keychains.
Yes, the pins are keychains.
And our keychain this year for the Young Old Durf Chronicles references a hilarious line that I'm sure every single one of you remembers,
as long as you've heard the next episode,
episode five that we haven't released yet.
But trust me, oh boy, when you hear it, you will laugh.
This line might be so powerful that it's already a catchphrase
despite having not been publicly spoken.
Should we reveal what that is so that then when they get to it in the episode,
it'll be like, oh, my gosh, I get it.
Yeah.
Sure, yeah.
So the keychain for the Young Old Durf Chronicles is a car shaped like a shark,
and it says, Kark Keys.
Yeah.
It's the keys to your kark.
Yeah.
So we should pause for everyone to laugh, right?
Yeah.
Be laughing right now?
Okay, yeah, take your talk.
Get up off the, stop ROFing on the.
L?
Stop.
Stop.
Stop.
Stop.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Stop it.
Stop it.
Okay.
Trust us.
Stop your F-A off.
You're just going to have to trust us.
But it should be, it should be,
this is the only way to get the Kark Kee's keychain, and it's the only time to get this Kark Kee's keychain.
If you join Maximum Fund at the $10 a month level, choose Mission to Zix as one of your supported shows, and choose our keychain as your gift.
That's right. And you can choose one of the other 41 keychains if you want.
Can we promise that the slogan on that keychain will have as much cultural relevance in the long term as Kark Kays? No.
But they're still good.
You're going to be proud to have your keys on that for, I mean, decades.
I think it's going to be evergreen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's really powerful and cool.
Yeah.
And then at higher levels, you can get even more stuff.
Yeah, a visor, a bag, a water bottle, a custom metal MaxFun member card.
Very useful.
Yeah.
You can even get a MaxFunn HQ access pass.
Whoa.
What?
Yeah.
Great.
Yeah.
You can even actually, the thing I've.
very excited about and is honestly
sort of on brand for the Young Old Dirt Chronicles
you can get a custom
mixtape and branded Max Fun
cassette player. They make those
still. Amazing. They made them
for us now. Walkmans.
Walkman. Walkerman.
Lowercase Wackman.
And if you get it, you could write
Young Old Durf Chronicles on it.
Yeah, sure. You should. Or
Kark. You just write Kark on it.
And then it would be devoid of all meaning.
Now, Seth.
Yes.
Let's tell everybody how exactly you get that stuff.
Okay, so the fastest way to support our show at the $5 level is a simple link,
maximum fund.org slash join Zix.
And there's also a link to support at higher levels and also support other shows, et cetera,
and that's the main MaxFundrive link, which is maximum fund.org slash join.
You can choose Mission of Zix when you go there, so that's maximum fund.org slash join Zix
or just slash join.
Yes. We'll put both those links in the show notes for this episode.
Yeah. Get that stuff.
Yes, be selfish and stuffish.
Get space-ish. Get more stuff.
Yeah. Yeah. Stick that stuff in the space, you self.
Yeah. Your space or someone else's.
But, you know, here's the thing. The truth of the matter is that not everyone can afford to support maximum fun.
We know that, and we love that. It's important that we make the show that we make free forever for any.
who can't pay. That's part of why we do what we do. It's part of why Max Fund does what they do.
But the only way that that works for us to make it free for the people who aren't in a position
to pay is that people like you who like the show and wanted to stick around for you and
everybody else, if you that can and wants to chips in. If that describes you, if it describes anything,
I was a little bit rambly, but if that successfully describes a person that might be.
be you, we sincerely hope that you will support the show. Yeah, it's one of the great paradoxes
of the universe, if not at least podcasting, is that it is free, but can only be free if some people
choose for it not to be free for them. Yeah, I mean, freedom isn't free. Oh, no. Oh, no. What am I?
Right. Freedom is fries. Right? Yeah. Yeah. And I know we promised not to tug on
heartstrings, but that was in retrospect a lie. We can't, we can't make this show. We've never
been able to make this show without the help of listeners. It's the only way we've made it. And the
only way we can continue to make it and the way that the glorious Max Fun podcast network survives.
And a little bit of ice water to throw. Is that, is that what the kids say? If you're,
if you're going to share like a hard truth.
Ice water
Let me throw some ice water
Hmm
I mean I know what you're trying to say
So that means we're both old I think
Um
The this year's Max Fun Drive
For whatever reason
Is going a little slowly
That's the truth of the matter
There's a goal of 16,000
New boosting or upgrading members
And at the current rate
The goal shan't be met
This is the second week.
This is the final week.
So basically we're saying that there's not these magical other people who are just going to sign up and do this.
We're actually talking to you.
If you are someone who can afford this and likes the show, we're really counting on you.
To join if you haven't yet, to upgrade your membership if you can or to boost with a one-time gift.
Yeah.
And, you know, it should be mentioned that this goal of the 16,000 new and upgrading members,
that's not just like a big number that would be.
great for us to hit. That is a number that allows Max Fun to continue what they're doing to support
shows like ours, but it also means that they're able to seek out new talent and start new shows
and float new shows as they get up and running into a place where you can hear them and support them.
Yeah. And just to pull over for a little bit to give you a personal anecdote related to this.
Pull over the kark. We just pull over the kark for a second. I was recorded.
recently an ad read for a company that allows you to check out your monthly expenses.
I won't name any names, but it made me realize how many of my own expenses every month go
towards networks and services making content that honestly I don't really like very much or haven't
watched in months or years. It's crazy the amount of money that I spend already on entertainment
that I am not connected to.
That's a really good point, Alden.
So honestly, if we can present a challenge,
let's say you're someone who's listening right now
and it was like, oh, I can't,
I actually can't afford to chip in right now.
Or even if you're someone who's like,
oh, I really want to do that and I can afford it,
we would posit that you could look into your recurring charges,
find something you don't use at all,
and redirect that money to max fund,
and have no negative impact on your life or wallet.
Yeah.
If you have any way of saying,
hey, here's $5 that I spend on
some multi-billion-dollar entertainment conglomerate,
most content of which I'm not digging at the moment,
think about it.
That $5 could go directly towards a company and creators
who you know, who you like,
whose content you enjoy,
and whose livelihood and ability to make this stuff you like
is directly connected to that.
exact $5 that you are sending to us and to the great people at maximum fund.
Yeah. Wow, we crack the code.
Yeah, all we have to do is shame people for their spending, make an oblique reference to an ex-sponsor of the show, and dangle a Kark keys keychain in front of them.
Well, look, hey, we just hit 16,000 new and boosting subscribers.
Seriously though, everyone, we really want to thank you for the last year of your support.
We know it's not easy.
We feel your support every time we release something, every time we talk to you on Discord,
and we hope you feel it when you listen to our show.
You may have noticed in the last year that making and producing and releasing the young old Derve Chronicles
has not been without its own hurdles.
And we assure you we're putting all of that support that you're giving us into making the show.
as good and as quickly as we can. And we're really enjoying all of the extra things that we've
been doing, the one-shots mission to D6. This difficult and outside the box production process
of young old DIRF Chronicles has led to a lot of really amazing silver linings for us,
connecting with our listeners in different ways, challenging ourselves to come up with different
and interesting things to release for you. Yeah, I think it's never, when the,
years of making this show, it's never lost on us and never will be lost on us, how amazing
it is, that the people who truly love the thing we're making can come together and fund it.
So thank you.
Yeah, thank you.
And thanks to Max Fun for being a great network, doing good work for good reasons, and doing it
with us.
Yes.
A worker-owned cooperative of creator-owned shows, that's not, that doesn't exist anywhere else.
It really doesn't.
It really does it.
So maximum fun.org slash join Zix or maximum fun.org slash join.
Yeah.
Happy MaxFund Drive.
Thanks for listening.
Thanks, y'all.
Bye.
Bye.
Oh, and don't forget to join us for our live stream on our YouTube channel this Friday, May 1st, 9 p.m.
