Podcast Network.
Thursday, March 28th, 2024, and it is indeed a heck of a morning.
We are live on the MAA Fighting Twitter space.
If you hear the show in its entirety shortly thereafter on the MMA Fighting Podcasting Network,
what's going on everybody?
I am Mike Kack.
Hope you're all having a fantastic week.
And things picked up a little bit last night, which I'm sure we're going to discuss.
UFC. CEO Dana White made some announcements.
and I'm sure there's a million questions about those announcements.
So I'll let you guys get to that point and we'll go from there.
But a few things real quick, right off the bat, before we get rolling.
The big thing is something that I have been trying to put together and make into a thing for the last three or so years.
We finally released the first episode of Swing Rounds.
very excited.
Platinum Mike Perry,
the first fighter
turned golfer
on the MFA fighting
YouTube channel.
Go check that out.
We did a nine hole
scramble.
It is so ridiculously fun.
And I know
some people
who like maybe see
golf content on YouTube
or whatever you think,
you know,
it sounds cool,
but I don't know
if I have like an hour
and 30 minutes
to watch two guys
play nine holes of golf.
Don't you worry
by,
friends, we knocked it down, edited it down to a nice, tight, fast-moving 18 minutes.
18 minutes is all you need to watch me and Mike Perry play some golf.
And it is everything you would expect it to be.
We have some conversations, some really good conversations.
Mike is hilarious.
It's a good time.
So make sure you check that out.
Very proud of it.
Shout out to Casey Lydon for putting the vision in place.
and kind of taking my vision and sort of my ADHD around this vision and making it happen.
Shout out to Jed Bishu for joining me in this venture to film.
Shout out to Connor Birch, G.C. for putting together those end graphics in the intro.
It was a lot of fun.
It took a while to put together and, you know, turn it into a thing.
But we got it done.
And it dropped a little earlier this morning, so go check that out.
It's a lot of fun.
And I want to do more of those.
I would like to do a lot more of those,
but we need people to check it out.
Let's make it a thing.
Something you don't see.
So I want to do something fun.
I want to do something where the fighters could let their guards down.
It's not just a sit-down interview.
We're not just on Zoom.
We're doing something in a different, unique, and fun way.
So we want to make this a thing,
but it's up to you to help us make it a thing.
Go check it out. It's a lot of fun.
All right.
I'm not going to talk any, I mean, I'm going to talk more, but I'm not going to waste any more time.
We're going to get right into it because I'm sure everything I would react to.
You're going to ask me about anyways.
So let's get into it.
There's fights announced.
There's fights being reported.
There are fights that have been kind of switched around according to initial reports.
And I have some insight on a lot of that stuff.
So we can touch on whatever the hell you want.
Flate MMA, you were first.
Let's go.
Can you hear me, Mike?
Yes, sir.
Well, I guess the only thing to talk about is the fight announcements.
I'm excited, as many people are.
I just obviously wanted to get your thoughts on the fights as well,
if maybe it's too early, but like your early liens.
For me, the Chamaier-Wittaker fight is obviously the highlight of the five fight announcements
and the most intriguing one, I guess, stylistically, especially
being a five-rounder which we haven't seen humzat in before and i guess to me it only goes really
i mean it could go more than one of these two ways but it's an early finish for arms up more likely
a submission in the first if he can just take rob down and have his way or we see that same kind of
hums up that showed up against usman who had a great first round and then sort of you know i'm not going
to say gassed out but just wasn't able to fight with the same effectiveness and if that that
does occur in a five-round fight.
I don't like his chances to win past the first round.
So early prediction, I'm actually gone with Whitaker by a later round's finish
or just by a dominant decision following a tough first round is my prediction,
but I'm not set in stone on that.
But I think the other ones, and one of the more interesting ones too,
given that one of these guys was actually booked,
is, of course, the Pavlovich and Volkov fight.
I know you said you've got insight into some of the stuff if you could give us a bit of clarity on that
because obviously Elmada versus Volkov was booked for 302, which is what I actually asked about a couple days ago on the show.
And now we've got Pavlovich R. Spolkov, and I've got to say, I like to fight a lot more, to be honest.
I'm picking Pavlovich.
I like Pavlovich a lot, and I hope he wins.
But it is still a pretty tough matchup in my opinion.
And the only other thing to add to it, apart from the few other fights, which are good fun.
I'm taking Johnny Walker, I'm taking
gas to them and I'm taking
Shara, but apart from that,
I won't spend too much time on those.
Just for this one, I guess this means one
thing and one thing only.
Cyril Garne versus Marchant-Tobor
coming to a UFC finite in Paris
near you soon. What do you reckon about that?
And yeah, what are your thoughts on the fights?
Thanks.
So, yes, a lot to impact there.
Dana White,
around
a little after midnight eastern time.
announces a bunch of fights for Saudi Arabia.
And this is more like it.
Because that March card, as you saw it play out at the apex,
was it was not good.
It was not good.
And everything Ariel talked about in regard to that March card being postponed was true.
So let's just start there.
But this is more like it.
We got Hamzaa Tchaimae versus Robert Whitaker in the main event, June 22nd,
It's going to air on ABC, which is a very big deal.
I'm also happy because this is going to be an early card more than likely,
which I like a lot.
We got Pavovich Volkov.
We have Kelvin Gasolm versus Daniel Rodriguez,
Johnny Walker versus Volk at Ozedamir,
and then Shara Bullitt versus Ehor, Potiaria,
which is just chef's kiss matchmaking.
Because someone's getting ice from,
real quick in that fight, and I'm very excited for it.
So first five cards of the books, tremendous.
Curious to see what else gets added to it.
But man, Hamzaa Jamiya versus Robert Whitaker is fucking money.
That fight is great.
That's going to answer so many questions.
Dana didn't say it's a number one contender fight,
which is obviously way more interesting if you're...
I know a lot of people, like a lot of the DMs that I got last night were like,
oh, you know, I love the fight, but what if Whitaker wins?
Why are we doing this?
It's not more content to fight.
Like, Whitaker's gotten so many shots at the belt.
He just got knocked up by DDP last year.
He's already lost to Izzy twice.
Why are we doing this again?
I have been on record when it comes to Robert Whitaker.
And I know Jed has given me a lot of shit for this.
And I think other members of the staff have also given me a lot of shit for this.
I want to see Robert Whitaker fight Israel-Azani again.
I would like to see it a third time,
especially after seeing how close that second fight was.
And honestly, after seeing how Whitaker performed against Paul Costa,
I wouldn't mind seeing Whitaker fight DDP again.
So I'm okay with, like, I'm okay with this.
And obviously, if Hamzat wins,
Hamzaat versus DDP or Hamzaa versus ZZ is great.
It's great.
So, yeah, I love it.
I love it.
This is the best fight you can make at 185.
I know a lot of people thought we'd get Hamzaa versus Paul
Costa. I actually was one of those people
that thought we might get that, but
this is way better in terms
of matchmaking. Now, Hamzaa versus Costa,
things would get spicy, things would get really weird.
The build to it would be
kind of what the UFC is
desiring in 2024.
This is, this is a little bit different.
This is a little bit different. Whitaker has
a ton of respect for Hamzat.
Amzot has very publicly
has a lot of respect for Robert Whitaker
as well. I absolutely love the fight.
it's super good
super super
super good
there's some other things
I think Hamsat was opened up
as the favorite
I'm trying to actually find the betting lines
I couldn't find them
but I think it was like minus 180
or something like that but I'll double check
I'm sure somebody else saw it
so let's talk about
the Pavlovich
Alexander Volkov booking
speaking of DMs
I got
a whole bunch of them being like,
you fuckers are in your fake news
and all this shit because
we had reported and we had confirmed
multiple sources by the way
and I told you on Tuesday
that if we were going to play the likely
not likely game
because we didn't fully confirm
the fight
across the board until a couple hours
after heck of the morning
I said
this was likely
this fight was likely
and I will tell you
this, that fight was 100%
a thing. That was legit.
It was going to happen at UFC 302.
I fucked up on Tuesday because I thought
for some reason it was at 301 because
that kind of made more sense with Jailton fighting in
Brazil and that car needs a whole
bunch of help.
But June 1st, 302
was
when that fight's going to happen.
So I saw this and immediately
in our Slack channels
because it was one of those things.
Normally I'd be out like a light at this time.
But I'm one of those people when there's like a big project that's about to drop.
I have a really hard time sleeping.
So I think I took like maybe an hour little snooze and that I woke up and saw all this
news a couple of minutes after it was announced.
And we started talking about the Volkov, Jailton, Sergey Pavlovich situation.
I reached out to a member of Jelton-Almatis team.
He told me he was 100% a thing.
We also talked at our Slack channel that perhaps maybe.
because Dana is on this sort of crusade against the MMA media
and wants to stick it to the media being like,
see, those guys are fucking liars and all this shit.
Maybe this is a spite move.
Like, honestly, these are discussions we have to have right now
because of some of the things that Dana has said,
even though he's wrong about absolutely all of them
when it comes to us reporting news and other members of the media
because he likes to lump everybody all into one thing.
this was 100% of thing.
We confirmed it from multiple sources
on both sides of the table.
What I was told was, and there's another thought of my mind
that, you know what, maybe this fight was announced
before Almeida's side even knew about it.
And when I reached out to this member of Almeida's team,
the initial response that I got
made it seem like that might have been the case,
but I have to follow up, wanted to make sure.
and I was told that
Almeida's team got the call
maybe four or five hours
before Dana made the announcement
that they were going to make a switch.
So the UFC reached out to Almeida's team
and said, we're switching things up.
He's not fighting Volkov anymore.
They want to boost the Saudi cards
or putting Volkov in Saudi.
He's going to remain on the card
opponent TBD.
I've heard a couple of names being thrown out there,
nothing solid enough to report here,
but it appears Jelton-Ur made it will still fight at 302.
Just he's not fighting Alexander Volkov anymore.
And for anybody who thinks that we printed up fake news
and we didn't confirm this, you're wrong.
Even the great Marcel Dorf basically tweeted everything that I was told
that it was 100% legit.
This was the fight they were going with.
And the UFC made a switch and it happened yesterday.
Yesterday was the switch.
Al-Madis team was contacted,
and they were told,
hey, you're not fighting Volkov anymore.
You're going to fight somebody else,
but you're still going to fight a 3-0-2.
So that's the latest on that.
So there you go.
So it was 100% of real fight.
UFC just decided to make a last-minute switch,
and here we are.
But yeah, that Saudi car looks pretty damn good.
CV, go ahead.
Hey, Mike.
Heck of a morning.
Yeah, I just want you to talk about
the state of the middleweight's top contenders.
Obviously, we got Chimeyev and Whitaker announced last night.
Probably going to be a number one contender fight.
But where does that leave like Sean Shirkland and Jared Cannoneer?
Do you think they're going to run it back?
And we also saw the EFC announced that they're going back to Australia sometime in August
and any insights on what could be a potential.
main event there.
I highly doubt we'll see Volcanowski
fight there, but maybe they
do the Izzy DDP
fight there. And
yeah. Thank you, sir.
Stay in the
Middleweight division. I don't think
God, and I know I don't stand
alone on this.
And I'm not saying this to disrespect to either guy.
I don't think there's a person on planet
Earth, except maybe Sean
Strickland who wants to see Sean Strickland fight
Jared Kennedy again. I don't
want to see that fight. We've seen it before. It was a close fight, but it was not all that
thrilling or compelling. It was everything that at the time in Sean Strickland's career before
he really started taking off, it was everything all MMA fans thought when a Sean Strickland
Apex main event was happening. That's what that fight was. And I don't think anybody wants to see
that again. So if I had to take a guess, and this is, I just, I have to say this, and it's
fucking annoys me that I have to say this.
No insight on this whatsoever.
I have not talked to anybody about it.
I will reach out to some folks later on about it.
My hunch, and again, this is not a report.
This is me knowing nothing,
is that they'll do Sean Strickland versus Paul O'Costa.
That's what I think they'll do.
I think that makes a lot more sense.
I think it's a sellable fight.
It puts Sean Strickland in his sort of,
universe. Paul Costa
likes to kind of flirt with that
universe as well. I think the build of that
fight will be great. I would love to see that
on International Flight Week. That'd be fun as hell.
That'd be fun as hell.
You could throw that on,
that could be a good
five, you can make that like,
I'm trying to think, like,
because I'm trying to feel,
to try to feel out how these
pay-per-view cards are going to fill up.
Do they do Islam?
Because a lot of people thought Islam might just
fighting Saudi Arabia.
Do they do Islam, Dustin, June 1st in Newark?
That'd be fun as hell.
That'd be fun as hell.
Pretty damn good co-made event.
You do five rounds, Sean Strickland versus Paul Costa?
That's a fucking great one-two punch right there.
That's going to make up for what 301 looks like right now.
That's for sure.
And then that leads into International Fight Week.
Golly.
That's fun.
Where that leaves Canaanere, I don't know.
As I talked about on the show, I think the best hope for Jared Canonier was to get the Homzot fight.
It didn't happen.
So I kind of think, I'm not going to say he's screwed, but let me kind of take a look at where we're at here.
Maybe you do Canaanernery Ustman.
That's not bad.
That's a pretty good fight.
Roman DeLie is booked.
There's Hermanson.
Brennan and Chris Curtis are about to fight.
So maybe the winner of that gets, especially if Brandon Allen wins,
do Brennan Allen versus Cannonair.
That fight makes a lot of sense.
That fight's happening next Saturday.
So the timelines could line up.
That's probably where we're at.
Yes, UFC is going to Perth.
It was announced another announcement last night.
It is happening August 17th, UFC 305.
I know this was being reported before.
I want to make sure, I want to credit this individual.
Let me just, let me find it real quick.
Benny P on Bendaman 2001.
Shout out to him.
He first reported this back March 5th,
saying UFC 305 will be in Perth.
No clue what the main event will be,
but that's the current plan for 305 at this moment,
and he was absolutely right.
So shout out to him for getting it right.
It was confirmed last night.
I also saw some reports.
Israel-Azani versus
Drick as 2 plus C being discussed to headline this card.
Of course I saw this, and of course I reached out to some folks.
It's, I don't know.
I don't know.
If I, again, no insight, things could change very quickly.
If I had to guess right this second, if we're playing the likely, unlikely,
game, I would say
if the bar is in the middle and likely is to the left and
unlikely is to the right, I would say
slightly unlikely based on the conversations I've had.
One source that I reached out to said that they had heard
nothing about it. A conversation has not been
started in regards to that fight. We reached out to other
sources as well. Some other sources
said very preliminary stages of discussions.
I think Perth is a bad place for that fight.
Honestly, like, I understand it makes sense, but here's two things we have to realize.
One, why the fuck would Drickus Duplice after winning the belt and getting ready to fight this guy
and being offered to fight Izzy at UFC 300?
why would he go to Australia to fight Israel-Az-Aid?
Why would he do that?
It doesn't make any...
Like, if I'm, if I'm DDP, I'm like, no, fuck that.
I'm not doing that.
I'm the champion.
Why should I go anywhere near where this guy trains or lives or all that stuff?
Why would I do that?
At this point, just do it in Vegas.
Like, I think it's better in Vegas, honestly, that it is in Australia.
We have to remember, like, is he's not from Australia?
He's from New Zealand.
He trains in New Zealand.
And New Zealand and Australia,
they're not like buds.
And you saw it.
Sean Strickland was a fucking superstar in Australia,
fighting Israel outside.
Izzy was getting booed in Australia.
So I don't even like it for Izzy there,
if we're being honest.
Could that happen?
Sure.
My hunched, as if right the second.
Again,
some insight but not a ton
I would venture to guess
that Volcanovsky-Tuporia
or Tuporia Volkadovsky 2
would probably be the main event.
I could be wrong
but again
this is super early. This is August we're talking about here.
So we don't know,
we don't even know what's headlining
main eventing the June paper views yet.
Like the UFC hasn't announced any
those things. We don't even, we don't know what's happening in July yet. August is a long way away.
It's five months away. So everything could change rapidly. But as of right now, after seeing those
reports, of course, we reached out and the way the report stated that it's being discussed. And I guess
that's true, uh, based on some of the conversation we had, but conversations I have personally had,
uh, I've been told literally nothing has been brought to one side's attention. And,
And then I started thinking about it and realized I was like, I just think Perth is like a shitty place for that fight.
Volk fighting in Perth makes way more sense to me because Volk is a superstar over there.
Izzy is not.
As you saw with the Sean Strickland fight.
But we'll see how it goes.
I'm saying slightly unlikely, but again, that can change very, very quickly.
conversations could be had, money could get right.
So that's where I'm at right now with that.
I kind of think Volk it would be a little too soon for Volk,
but six months, it's a longer time frame than the Islam one.
And if you want to get Volk at his best,
him fighting in Perth would be at him at his best,
in my personal opinion.
So we'll see how it all plays out, but good for Perth.
There's going to be a number of paper views in Perth.
Moving forward, I think they just signed a new agreement for the next few years.
So Perth will be a UFC destination for the foreseeable future, which is cool.

Tote, go ahead. Hi buddy.
It's been a while
but I've had some sickness going on
but that's all good.
So first day I want to say great Mike Perry video
I really dig the
the passionate but not anger-ridden
side of Mike Perry
that has come out since he joined Peak
I really, really dig that.
So it was nice to see him in that way as you were walking around the course.
So I want to know how did the back nine go?
And I mean, that must have been fun as well with the cameras off, so it was more free in the talk.
And yeah, with jet playing as well.
And I just wonder who's next up on the docket.
Docket. Is it D.C.? Who are we going for next? Thank you, Mike.
I would love for it to be D.C. I have discussed this idea with some others.
As you guys know, we did shoot one with Chris Wyden back in December, I think it was. Maybe it was in November.
Yeah, I think it was like right, I don't remember. It was either like mid to late November or early December.
And it was it was it was a different kind of thing.
I got to tell you, just based on the experience.
Mike Perry is like if I could do these videos with Mike Perry every single time, I would do it.
Not just because of the content.
Because Mike's just such a personality and he's just fun as fun as hell.
But he is also like on the ball.
I brought this.
I reached out to Mike Perry's team.
And I was like, you mind if I reach out to Mike and see if he wants to do this?
And they were like, yeah, please do it.
Reach out to Mike within 15 minutes.
He was like, fuck yeah, let's go.
And he was like, what are you thinking?
And I was like, not this week, not next week, but the week after.
Wednesday would be a great day.
Within 20 minutes, Mike Perry had texted me and said, we have the first tee time on this date, this exact date.
I was getting follow-up text from Mike
like every other week.
Hey, we're still playing, right?
We're still doing this.
We're still doing this.
And I would like, let him know, like, how it was going to go
and all this stuff.
And he was like, bet, we're in.
He shows up to the course.
Everything's locked and loaded.
Showed up by himself.
We played.
It was the best.
And Mike was just on the ball.
When I played with Chris,
Chris didn't, and I love Chris Wyman,
it was a lot of fun playing golf with him as well.
he's actually, he's, he's pretty damn good.
But he showed up with like a couple of his buddies.
And he didn't even think I was playing, even though I clearly stated to him like, hey, we're, you know, this is what I'm thinking.
This is what my plan is.
This is how we're going to do it.
He's like, all right, cool.
And then it turned out that like it wasn't like that at all.
We ended up playing like a two on two, like best ball match.
And we tried to film as much as we could, but it was just so.
there's so much happening
that if we released it
I think people would have dug it because Chris is funny
as hell
but it was just so confusing to watch
because there's just so much happening
and I learned a lot from that one that we didn't release
because then I was like okay
if we're going to do this we have to do it this way
where it's like a scramble
or it's like if we have multiple people
it's got to be like a two on two scramble
so everyone can be together
it's easy to shoot
It's just way better than having four people hit four different shots,
trying to follow where everybody is and all of that.
Also, when I shot the Wyden one, it was just me out there,
trying to shoot myself and three other people.
It was impossible.
And it just, the content wasn't great.
Outside of Chris just being funny and telling jokes and talking shit to people,
that was fun.
But the overall process of the golf wasn't great.
So I would love to redo it with Wyatman.
I've talked to Wonderboy about doing it.
John Anick would like to do it down the road.
Obviously, I have a great relationship with him.
Honestly, like, I'm down to clown, man.
I'm down to clown.
I would love to shoot one when I'm in Vegas in a couple of weeks,
like the morning of UFC 300.
That would be awesome.
I don't know if we're going to be able to make it happen,
but I would love that.
So if D.C. wants to do it.
I think Gainty would be fun because I know he plays
and he's pretty damn good.
It would be fun.
So, yeah, if you're a fighter out there or if there's a certain fighter you want to see as a part of it,
let's try to make it happen.
I think it would be great with pretty much anybody.
But Mike was the best.
Back nine was fun.
I won.
Jed played really well, too.
He came out the gates, humming.
I think I parted the first hole.
I hit a, like, just the shittiest team shot on two.
pulled it left as like a baseball swing.
So I was behind this tree with the second shot and I pull out my 50 degree and I put
it right over the tree, right on the front of the green, and I had like a 40-footer for
Bertie and nailed it.
Just nailed it.
And it was just a dagger to everybody.
But it was a lot of fun.
It was a lot of fun.
Jed played great.
Mike's game improved.
And we just had a lot of fun.
We had a lot of fun.
It was very similar to what you saw on the video.
except Jed played two.
It was a little more loosey-goosey.
Perhaps a adult beverage or two was consumed on the back nine.
But it was a lot of fun.
So I hope to be able to do more of those.
But again, it's only 18 minutes, guys, for nine holes.
Tried the tracers, which is fun.
I got to learn to get better with that.
But, yeah, I want to do more of those.
DC would be great.
A guy like Wonderboy would be great.
Wyman loved to do it with him all over again.
or widened to Wonderboy at the same time.
That would be a lot of fun too.
So, yeah,
I think you'll see fighters in a whole different way.
Matt, go ahead.
To deal with Mike Perry.
Thank you for the quality content on that.
Then I want to say something about this week's Atlantic City card.
I know that everybody's just saying it's almost like a normal apex card.
But when you take the storylines out of it,
it's going to be a pretty good card.
for violence, to be perfectly honest. And that's what I'm about. I just love the violence.
And I think in the grand scheme of things, I really do think that it's going to be a pretty good
card. I mean, I know that everybody keeps talking about Lucay and Buckley, but I mean,
Ruzabov versus Dumas, if you kind of take out Dumas's outside extracurricular activities,
there should be a pretty decent fight for the most part. I mean, Bill Algeo and Kyle Nelson,
I mean, there are some good fights on here that I don't think are going to be like just complete horrible decisions.
I think it's actually going to be a quality bite card that I'm really looking forward to, to be perfectly honest.
That's fair.
Again, and I try to be as positive as I realistically can be with a lot of these cards.
And even the apex card two weeks ago, what did I say the entire time?
I kept saying, look, there are no stakes at all in any of these fights, like none, including the main event between marching Tiber and Taitu Ivasa.
No stakes whatsoever outside of Kintui Vasa avoid a four-fight losing streak.
That's it.
The rest of the fights had nothing on the line.
No stakes, nothing.
And these are cards where I judge them on a whole different set of boxing.
is like, unlike what I'm looking for, which is partly one of the obviously aspects is like,
are they going to be good fights?
Two, what are the storylines and mistakes?
And three, is this a card that has the potential to be talked about past Sunday?
And those last two apex cards, Rose, yes, we could still kind of talk about Rose because
she's Rose.
And we had the bite moment.
but outside of that over these last few apex cards we did we have not spent a second on any of them
and this one there's at least some stakes here the main event's a good one
with blanchefield and fioro we almost got luke versus sean brady and i know they
got dealt some bad luck it's a like this is a very this is what an apex card should look
like this is what every apex card should look like this card right here
But we don't get that.
We don't get that.
I'll tell you what dings this card too.
And it's just the truth, guys,
especially on the East Coast.
10 p.m. main card for this is trash.
It's just trash.
This should be a 1 p.m. prelim, 4 p.m. main card,
if there ever was one,
no later than 4 p.m. prelim, 7 p.m. main card.
Six fights, 10 p.m. Eastern, is
fucking brutal.
It's just brutal.
And I understand, like, the European fans like, oh,
cut the shit, stop being a baby.
We have to wake up at blah, blah, blah,
a.m. every day. And that's great. You're used to it.
But come on, man.
Like, this should have been earlier in the day.
Six-fight main card is too much.
And you're right.
There are good. Like, there's going to be,
there's going to be some finishes on this one.
I think if you sit down and watch it,
I don't think you're going to have a bad time watching it.
but storylines outside of the main event like what are we going to even be talking about
unless like somehow chris wydman went like we'll talk about the wideman fight win or lose
either wybin's going to get this incredible win he's going to get this big ovation and he's
going to announce that he's back baby and he's off the schneide or bruno sylva's just going to
ice him in the first three minutes and we're and we're going to be talking about is chris
why I've been done. So there have been worse cards. No doubt about it. I love the Verna
Jandro Jandro Jandrova Lupi Godin S fight. That should be on the main card, in my opinion.
We got Nate the train. That's always fun. Cheetah and Jokawani versus Rees-Makee should not be
in the main card. Like, come on now. It should not be a main card fight. I understand why
it's there because it's probably going to get finished real fast. But come on. Jangerobo
Godinez should be on the main card here.
They just should.
14 fights.
It's fine.
It's fine.
I don't think you're going to have a horrible time watching it.
But
for a roadshow card, this is
this thing great.
But at least they're out of the apex.
At least the ambiance will be different and it'll feel
better hearing
actual people react.
to things that are happening outside of the dozens and dozens of people in the echoey apex.
So at least the ambiance of this car will be much better.
Monsef, go ahead.
It's not going through.
Monsef try again.
Bounce out, bounce back in.
I think your connection's a little choppy.
Guy to four course, sports.
Hey, Mike.
So I'm excited about the announcements that Dana White made yesterday, yesterday night, about what's it called,
the Hamzaab versus Whitaker and Pavlovich versus Volkov.
The fight that I'm actually more interested is
what happens with Sergei Pavlovich.
I feel like he has, this is going to be an interesting test for him
because I don't think he's faced anybody of the statute of Volkov
or maybe, or, and the fact that he's very rangy,
I'm actually very interested to see how, what's the call,
Palajarage does just because we've seen somebody that when he when he
fought somebody of Tom Aspinall, I thought it was going to be a 50-50 type of
fight but I want to, but the way that he got knocked down, I want to see how he
bounces from it just because I feel like Pavlovich could get himself back into
a title mix because we all know that John Jones is not going to be sticking around for
a while and Aspinall is going to be the king of the heavyweights.
You know, it's just a matter of time before he univized both belts.
but the second question that I have is
I guess it's more than likely that
June 1st is going to be Islam versus
Dustin Porre just because I can't see them putting any other card
any of the fight outside of Leon versus Balaw
unless they really don't want Leon to
headline back in the UK
but I don't know I think I feel like
if Islam versus Dustin
unless they move that to international fight week
if they don't have a comment
versus Chandler.
That's what I got for you.
Thanks, Mike.
Yeah, we'll see what happens.
We'll see how that all plays out.
Yeah, I mean, look, Volkov-Favich is a better fight than the Al-Meda fight.
I'm just going to come out and say it.
Just going to come out and say it.
This is a better fight.
This is a more interesting matchup to me.
The story of Al-Meda bouncing back from the loss to Blades is obviously a story,
but in terms of what we could see action-wise, God, I mean, dude, that fight's fun as hell.
that fight's fun as hell either Pavlovich's going to knock Volkov out quick or Volkov's going to weather the storm and probably get them down and submit them.
One of those two things is going to happen.
So fun-ass fight.
Like to switch up.
Like to shift.
It's good stuff.
It's good stuff.
Let's go to Ethan.
Ethan, do we have you?
Yes, sir.
All right.
So I got a comment and then two quick.
questions. As far as my comment goes, I was re-listening to a heck of a morning from Tuesday.
And a guy brought up an interesting point about Dana not really being the same guy anymore.
And this is just something I want to give Dana props for. He actually, in the interview he did
with Camaro and Henry Suhudo was talking about how, like, nowadays, he really isn't that involved
in matchmaking. And he really gave a shout out to like Hunter, Sean and Mick. So I just wanted
to say, like, that was interesting to see my two questions. As far as, uh,
UFC 300 goes. This was a question asked on the MMA hour.
They asked, what are the top five fights you're most excited for?
So I want to hear what you think about that.
And then are you surprised that they went with Whitaker versus Shemaya?
Because I feel like that's probably the toughest fight for him at middleweight right now.
So yeah, just want your thoughts on that.
Yeah.
Yeah, guys, I've been telling you for a while when it comes to Dana.
Like, even the fighters, though, like Dana is obviously the face of the company,
but Hunter Campbell runs the business.
He's the guy.
He's the one who puts the contracts together.
He's the one that does the deals.
He's the one doing the negotiations.
It's him.
He's the guy.
Dana's just the face behind it.
That's just what it's been.
That's just what it's been for a long time.
But Dana is obviously very pivotal to the brand.
One, because of his relationships with celebrities and all of that.
He's able to broker sponsorship deals that I don't think like Hunter and some of the other people can can broker.
I think having Dana involved in that is huge.
I think Dana being involved in the TV deal and the negotiations and all that stuff is huge.
There's value to all of that.
And as I said on Tuesday, if Dana stepped down as CEO of the UFC and just focused on PowerSlapp and his other ventures,
outside of him not going to the post-fight press conferences after paper views,
I don't think anybody would even notice.
Nobody would notice a thing.
The machine would run the same way.
It runs on its own right now.
They are just so well-oiled and they're on fire right now.
They're just on fire.
And Dana deserves all the credit in the world for getting them to this position.
1,000%.
But as you see now,
with the style of interviews that Dana's doing,
his hate quote unquote for the media and all that,
which, God, that whole Sage Steel thing was rough to listen to.
It really was rough.
Data is about promoting Dana right now.
Dana White is a brand.
And Dana White realizes that Dana White is a brand.
And he is doing everything he can to promote Dana White the brand.
And that's fine.
That does give a little bit of shine to the brand.
the UFC and his other ventures.
But man, the way he views the media, that Sage Steel interview was fucking painful.
The Joe Rogan thing was funny.
But even like listening to Sage who like, I've always had a lot of respect for Sage, especially
when she looks at her from a journalism perspective.
But just her reaction to like everything Dana was saying about the media was just, was wild
to me.
Oh, you mean a, like front office sports doing a puff piece about power slap.
That's like journalism because they checked back with Dana about certain things.
Like, no shit.
That's what you're supposed to do.
That's what you're supposed to do.
That interview must have been shot like two months ago.
Because he basically was like, hey, on the way here to do this interview,
We had a fight falling apart, and I went on my Instagram story
and posted a screenshot of a text message exchange that I had with the fighter.
That interview was done the day Dustin Porreier put his feet in the sand and said,
no, not fighting this dude.
I'm not fighting Benoit Santadie.
And then I got resolved on one of the greatest days of the history of the company
and the history of me covering MMA.
That was one of my favorite days of all time because the media won on that day,
and it was glorious.
And even to date his best efforts
trying to shit on the media,
he was wrong the whole time.
It was incredible.
It was so good.
But I digress.
Yeah, that interview was tough to listen to.
But yeah, Hunter and the matchmakers are the guys right now.
Dane is the face.
He's the one that he's kind of the glue.
But Hunter is the guy who runs the business right now.
1,000%.
You ask any fighter, any manager?
It's Hunter. Hunter's the one making the phone calls.
Hunter's the one making the calls.
The Jelton-Al-Made his team last night saying,
hey, we're switching things up.
Or the matchmakers are making those phone calls.
Dana making those phone calls.
Just isn't.
And that's fine.
Look, I'm not dogging the man.
He's won the race by a mile.
He is kicking the shit out of everybody.
This isn't even NFL, XFL.
This is like, this is NFL to like eight-year-old flag football.
right now. They're so far ahead of everybody else. And no one's going to touch them. Despite when
Don Davis wants you to believe, no one is going to touch them. And this whole settling of the lawsuit
thing, that's it. That's it. Nothing's ever going to change. They have not only won. It's like Mario
Cart where like if you're playing with somebody who sucks at Mario Kart and you win the race
and you have to wait for the other guy to finish,
but your screen, you've lapped the other dude three times,
even though you're not even pressing a button,
that's what the UFC is to everybody right now.
No one's even close to them.
So data can just do whatever he wants,
and that's great for him.
Good for him.
But yeah, that interview is rough.
Top five, 300 fights I'm looking forward to.
Jesus Christ, man.
I mean, obviously, Gachi Holloway is number one,
because that's like my
that's like my everything
Pereira Jamal Hill number two
Oliver Seruque in number three
Jesus
Calvin Cater Al Jemaine Sterling
number four
I'm very intrigued by that one
I do like Zhang versus Jan
but I kind of have a feeling
how that's going to go
I understand the historical aspect of that fight
but I'll go Davis and Figurato
Cody Garbram
that's what I'm going on with
boarding for flight 246 to Toronto
is delayed 50
minutes.
Ugh, what?
Sounds like Ojo time.
Play Ojo? Great idea.

Hey, Mike, can you hear me?
Yes, sir.
You caught me in the middle of a job,
but glad I was able to connect on time.
Just real quick, I just wanted your thoughts on the Saudi Arabia card.
It looks like five fights were announced, excuse me.
Hamsat, Whitaker, Sergey Pavlovich, Bolkov, and so on.
So I just wanted your thoughts on how excited you are for those fights because I'm pretty hype.
I know they're going to add more clearly because there's only five fights that I've seen announced.
But what would you rate that card on a five-star scale so far?
That's it, Mike.
On a five-star scale.
Let's see.
I think there's more on that card as well.
Let's see.
Where are we at?
June 22nd.
what else are we missing here that didn't get announced
uh nazrat hackparas Jared gordon is also on that card
it's dude it's good card it's gonna be on ABC main event's fucking great
Pavlovich volkov's great Walker Ozdemer's great
Shara Bullets fighting
Kelvin Gassum Drod's good fight
I'd love to see Mahamu Kaya versus
Brennan Royva on that card I think that would make a lot of sense
and on and on we go I think it's been good
Early day card.
It's going to be at ABC, which is a big deal.
The week before International Fight Week,
it's got to be good.
It's going to be good.
I like it a lot.
And I think I'm going to continue to like it.
But, dude, Whitaker Shamaic, have such a good fight.
It's ridiculous.
As well, I got ahead.
So, Mark, Kirk of Morning, a few questions.
Firstly, you know,
who do you think is going to win the Robert Whitaker-Hamsa fight?
and how do you see either side getting the job done.
I also just want your thoughts on, you know, really the setup for the UK card
because I think they have the potential to really make an actual good card this time,
unlike what they weren't able to do with the 286.
So I think they did a fantastic job with the fight night card that they hosted two years back at Oat Arena.
So I'm hoping we can get some actual good fights.
and among that
I've heard
reports of rumors about Arnold Allen
and Gigature kids
are having a fight
I think around that time
so do you definitely see
that fight for example
happening on the fight night
as a headliner or being part of the UK
card and I just want to also
it's more of a it's not really
question but it's just to discuss
about something I wish the
UFC did
you know do remember back in
around like 2016.
I think mostly for U.S.C. 200 and a few other fights.
There used to be those videos where you'd have Joe Rogan or like John Anick and like, you know,
two of the main headlining fighters kind of have their back and forward and discussion.
You know, they kind of follow that same format that boxing kind of currently does
and where they have a little face off on the, you know, table and discuss about their differences.
I'm just wondering, is there any reason why the U.S.
never continued with that?
In my opinion, that was probably one of the best things they could have done.
It seemed really cool at the time.
And even until now, I think it helps, you know, not only go to the sport in many ways,
but it helps for, you know, both casual and hardcore fans to kind of relate
and connect with those fighters, you know.
And I just think, like, there's a lot of things that UFC could really, really do if they wanted to,
to put the sport up in quite many ways if they won, but they just can.
cannot seem to do it because I think it's one, there's no interest to, you know, comes down to both sides like Dana.
He's not as interested.
He used to be before.
The fighters don't have that, you know, energetic or inagorous personality to carry forward unless they really do connect with the general audience.
And, you know, it's just like I look at the fact that some of the promos we get with the trailers.
Not a lot of effort goes into it.
It seems like something, well, anyone can really.
do if that makes sense.
But yeah, I've just wondered with those particular
videos, I remember the one with John Jones
and D.C. I was just wondering, why did they
never continue that? Because that seemed like a really cool
idea, and I was thinking they should bring
that back for the UFC 300, my opinion, at the very
least. That's all I have, have a great day.
Thanks, man.
What if you're just my, I don't know.
I got to watch tape.
Get into it.
But the first person
you brought this up, I think it was left lane.
kind of nailed it the way I see the fight going.
Either Shemai is just going to smash Whitaker in the first round,
tackle him, just overwhelm him on the ground,
and then submit him,
or Whitaker's just going to weather the storm
and just do Robert Whitaker things down the stretch
and either get a late finish or win a decision.
So I have to look into it a little bit more.
I actually think there's a lot of people that react to,
reacted to this, we're like, oh, this is a shitty matcher for Hamzot.
I actually don't think it's that terrible.
Like, stylistically, just because of the experience that Rob has in these big fights,
especially the five-rounders, there's obviously something to that.
But in terms of guys that Hamzat Shemayev, who probably, like, honestly, like,
I talked about it heading into the card I covered in Jacksonville when Hamza thought
Gilbert Burns.
Like, Hamzat's a big dude, but compared to, like, a lot of the other middleweights,
he's actually not that big.
And you kind of saw it more in the, in the Kamar Usman fight.
And I feel like in terms of guys with physicality and size and strength,
Whitaker being a former welterweight himself, I actually think, like, from a physicality
perspective. I think this is about as good
as it gets for
him. But again,
the longer this fight goes, the more
favors Robertiker, so I have to look
into a little bit more. UK,
I think it's going to be good. I didn't think
286 is that bad.
Dude, we got
a huge rematch
between Leon Edwards and Kamar Usman for that
card. You got Justin Gagetchi
Raphael Fiziv on that card. That fight
ruled, and we knew it was going to rule.
That is like, right there,
that's fine. Yes, we had Gunner Nelson, Brian Barber Raina on there, but it is what it is. Jennifer
Mai, Casey O'Neill, Martin Vittier, Roman DeLizzee was fun. It's just a lot of local flare.
Mahiaf was on the card. LaRone Murphy was on the card. CLD was on the card. Jay Cadley on the
card. Joanne Wood on the card. Like it was, this is fine. This is fine. This was what?
This was two weeks after John Jones came back. Colby showed up at the Wayans. Like, there was a lot,
going on with that card.
I didn't think it was that bad.
Justin Gagetje-Raphael-Fiziv was the best.
That fight was awesome.
That was one of the best fights in the year last year.
But yeah, this card should be good.
You got to do, I think you do Leon Ballol,
and I think you do Aspinall Blades.
I think that's what you do.
Where this leaves Cyril God, I have no fucking idea.
I have no idea, but I've already talked it nausea about how badly
Cyril Gond has fucked things up
since he beat
Sergeus Spivak. Now he's just
going to get passed over for like every single opportunity
at this point it appears
just
lack of promotion 101
across the board.
And then
I'm trying to think of the other point.
The UFC putting in the promotional
packages together doing the face-to-face
they don't need to. They don't need to.
They don't have to do any of that stuff.
They are so
ahead, everything is just on fire.
And it's not like they need to build stars right now.
They don't need to do shit.
Look at what they're bringing to Atlantic City.
It ain't going to be a cello, but they don't give a shit.
They're making so much money.
It doesn't matter.
Look at, you want an example of like where the UFC is right now?
Did you see Media Day yesterday?
Did you see the screenshots that went out there?
They misspelled on the banners, the promotional banner.
sitting behind the fighters at Media Day,
they misspelled one half of the main event?
Who the fuck is Aaron Blanche Eald?
Who is that?
Fucking Aaron Blanchfield is sitting there
doing her Media Day scrum
and her name is misspelled across the whole banner.
It was insane.
So they're not going to do that.
Why would they?
Why would they?
Plus, they don't want...
There's only certain, like, fighters you can do that with,
like rivalries like John Jones and Daniel Cormier come along every so often.
Like what's maybe you do with Connor Nate if they ever rebooked that?
Like that would make sense for that.
But there's just no other rivalry that comes close to that right now that you could possibly put together here.
You can do with Anick.
I think Rogan being a part of that made it like really, really special.
But I don't know if like, does Joe Rogan have time to like fly out and do one of those?
I don't think so.
And also they just don't need to do it.
they just don't need to they're the stars the ufc those three letters they are the stars right now
so we would like to see them do more they just don't have to they just do not have to uh we'll do
we'll do j stat we'll go to yaya that we got to go j stat go ahead uh yes hello mike heck of the morning
um what is next for MVP in your opinion like how would you book him and also i have share a bullet
knocking out the whatever that other guy calls itself, Eeyore.
But yeah, that'd be all.
Wait, say that one more time?
Sorry.
How would you book MVP next?
And I have Sherer Bullitt winning his, well,
went in his fight by a headcake knockout.
And that'd be all.
Thank you.
Oh, yeah, dude.
We know this match.
Why this matchmaking is happening.
This is a highlight real.
It's a highlight real matchmaking.
It's exactly what it is.
I want to build something up for Shar.
They see something with him.
I think everybody sees something with him.
And even if Ehor somehow gets it done,
like it's going to be a rumble.
It's going to be a rumble.
Who should MVP fight next?
Who should MVP fight next?
I think the winner of the co-main event on Saturday.
Jeff Neal's a good one.
I don't mind that.
I know everybody likes Stephen Thompson fight.
First of all, I don't think they're going to fight each other.
they have a relationship.
Plus, I agree with both Stephen Thompson and MVP,
that fight is not going to be fun to watch.
But, dude, my MVP versus Vicente Lucke is fun as hell to me.
And even if Buckley gets a win,
MVP versus Joaquin Buckley's fun.
So, yeah, I would go that route.
I know we called for Ian Gary.
I know Ariel loves that fight.
I completely agree with Ian Gary right now.
I will say this, though,
for Ian and what he needs right now,
I think, in,
the court of public opinion,
I actually think him fighting MVP
would do better for him
because he gets away from the bullshit a little bit.
MVP's not going to, he's going to be pretty respectful.
I don't think the build will be as cringy.
But I kind of feel like you have to do the Colby fight.
And if they don't do Colby, then
maybe you entertain MVP.
I don't know.
But MVP's got options right now.
Him and Luke A's fun.
Him and Jeff Neal's fun.
I think those are the ones.
I think those are the ones.
But if you're eating Gary, you keep saying what you've been saying.
MVP's ranked way below me.
I want the Colby fight.
Even though the builds of that, it's going to be horrible.
Just the worst.
Just the fucking worst.
But I think that fight, considering where this division is and where it's going,
I think that's the fight you have to make.
But we'll see.
Yeah, yeah, take us home, my man.
What's going on, Big Mike?
How you doing, man?
Good, how are you?
Good.
Good.
This UFC Saudi Arabia card already looks stacked, and the fact that it's a fight night is just wild.
But besides that, I know this interview just, I think they just posted it on Power Pound with Camaro and Sohudo.
But George St. Pierre was a guest on there, and he was talking about how he almost boxed Oscar de Aloia a few years back.
But Dana White didn't allow him to.
and he said it didn't happen because, you know,
because Daniel White hates Oswaldo,
and that he still had ties with the UFC,
and then when he asked Dana for permission,
you know, he just said, F that guy.
So just wondering, like, what you felt about that.
Appreciate you, man.
Thanks, man.
I don't think that's new, though.
I don't think that's new.
I think GSP's told a similar story before,
if not that exact story.
But it doesn't surprise me.
It doesn't surprise me.
Why?
Like there are certain things the UFC will allow fighters to do.
And by the way, I am not saying this to be like, I don't want this.
And again, I think I'm pretty fair at the UFC.
When they do good things, I say they do good things.
When they do bad things, I say they do bad things.
When Dana does something good, I say he does something good.
When he does something bad or says something bad, he does something bad.
If we are to believe George St. Pierre, and I think I do.
I don't blame Dana White at all for saying fuck that.
I really don't.
That's just the world we live in, guys.
When you are under contract with somebody,
the UFC could do you a solid,
but they don't want to do something that is A,
either going to piss them off,
or B, somehow affect their bottom line,
or take a certain fighter who is a big star
and then lend them to,
you know, Oscar Delahoy as someone who is publicly shit on the company and it's CEO.
So I don't blame Dana for this at all if this is to be true.
And I believe GSP if we're being honest.
And I'm fine with it.
I'm fine with it.
But I don't think that's, I don't think that anything, any of that's new.
I think GSP has talked about this before.
But there are certain things like they don't mind doing.
Like they're letting Jorge Bosodal box Nate Diaz, which think about,
June 1st.
If they do Islam
Machachov versus
Dustin Pori is the main event
on June 1st
for UFC 302,
that fuck,
no one's fucking
buying Mazdal Diaz.
Nobody.
Nobody.
They don't care.
And plus,
like, if you make
Mazadol happy,
who's a big star,
and you make Nate Diaz happy,
who is a big star,
you could still bring them back
and make big fights
with them at some point,
whether it's against each other
or other people.
I know a lot of people feel
skill for skill, all that age.
People think they're quote unquote washed, understand whatever,
but they're fucking superstars.
And you never heard to have a superstar on a card.
So I'm sure the UFC wants to do Connor versus Nate three in the UFC.
I'm sure it would break their fucking souls to watch those two guys fight outside of the UFC.
So there you go.
But no, I don't blame Dane at all for that.
But if the GSP was going to go box anybody else,
I think the UFC would probably let him do it.
Viking, go ahead, real quick.
So I heard about,
I heard you were saying about UFC 300 card
that most probably the result will be,
there will be a lot of decisions on that card.
So I just want to introduce MMA to my friend.
He's a casual.
So should I go for it or not?
Thanks a good.
Well, I mean, I don't think I actually said that it would go to a lot of decisions.
But the thing you risk when you have three types.
I think you're talking about what I defended Bo Nicol being on the main card,
saying, you know, wise bow on the main card.
this fighter should be on this main card, whatever.
I like Bo Nicol being on the main card
because that fight is not getting out of the first round.
No matter what happens.
If Cody lands the miracle punch that knocks Bo Nicol out
or Bo Nickel tackles him,
that fight is done in like three minutes.
And when you have three five rounders on a card,
there is a real potential that we could get three 25-minute fights.
That's a lot.
That is a lot.
And as good as these matchups are on paper, if we start getting into that territory,
it can be a slog to go through three consecutive 25-minute fights.
Gachi Holloway could certainly see going 25.
It's going to be fun as hell, but I could certainly see it going 25.
Then we have Zhang and Jan could certainly see that going 25.
I think John is going to win dominantly.
No disrespect.
I just think there's – I don't think there's anybody.
at 115 who could beat Zhang Wei Li right now.
I think Yan is an interesting test,
and she's absolutely earned her opportunity.
But Zhang is just on a different level right now.
But that probably goes 25.
Because for the most part,
Jan has been pretty durable in there.
Yes, Carla Sparza beat that ass,
but that was like Carlo was on.
That was like her greatest performance ever,
and she had a big chip on her shoulder.
and I think Yon just had kind of an off night as well,
not taking anything away from Carl.
She looked fantastic,
and I think Carl wins that fight.
The way Carla fought that night,
Jan had her absolute best.
I still think Carl wins that fight.
But, and then for somehow, Pereira Hill goes 25 minutes.
Like, we're ending the car, like super late,
and we're like, man, those last three fights took forever.
It's just the way that it is.
So, yes, I do think if you're going to introduce a fan
to the sport. I do think 300 is the way to do it. I really do. It is the best, to me,
it is the greatest card ever that the UFC has ever assembled on paper. Is it going to do
the most buys ever? Is it going to get the most attention? Is it going to be Connor versus
Habib? No, it's not. But again, it's because the UFC is the star right now. They are the
star. But every single fight is good. Every fucking fight. Every fight. Every fight is awesome.
and there's story and there's meaning,
there's significance, all of it.
Every fight is good.
From the first fight to the last,
every fight you can't miss.
It's awesome.
It's awesome.
All right, I got to go.
I appreciate you all.
Thank you very much.
Nichols, I see you there.
Hop in tomorrow.
You jump the line.
We do a BTL today.
1230, about an hour from right now.

and then data dropped the announcement last night about all this shit so jett and i are going to
answer your questions for about an hour so casey will jump in as well we'll talk about that
and some of the other things that maybe we touched on here maybe we didn't touch on but either
