MMA Fighting - UFC Edmonton Post-Fight Show: Reaction To Mike Malott's Brutal Knockout Of Joaquin Buckley

Episode Date: October 18, 2026

Mike Malott delivered in a big way for his home country as he picked up the biggest win, and biggest highlight of his UFC career with a stunning second-round knockout of Joaquin Buckley in the main ev...ent of UFC Edmonton. After the win, is "Proper" a perennial top-10 welterweight moving forward, or is he a legit title threat? Following the UFC's most recent Fight Night event, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Jed Meshew react to Malott's fifth straight win, discuss who he could face next, and where Buckley goes following his third straight loss. Additionally, topics include Jasmine Jasudavicius' huge upset win against Erin Blanchfield in the co-main event, why Blanchfield's UFC title hopes may be gone forever, other standout moments from the finish-heavy event, and much more. Starting point is 00:01:39 All right, everybody. Those are the victory horns. And they sound for Canada's own proper Mike Milott. Gets it done. Knocks out Joachim Buckley with a, looks like it was supposed to be a body kick. but Buckley just leaned so far forward that Malat's knee just landed right across his freaking face knocked his mouthpiece out
Starting point is 00:02:17 and Buckley went down for the con he was out face first on the mat for a couple seconds and now Mike Malott five straight wins top 10 fighter making waves making moves and no call-up the proper Mike Malott way but that's okay but welcome to the post-fight show I am Mike Heck and this card is over.
Starting point is 00:02:41 It tied the modern UFC record for most knockouts, I believe, on a card. 12 out of the 13 fights were finished. And we're already seeing the, if you're watching the UFC post show, we're already seeing the promotional victory lap. A lot of people sleeping on this card. Don't you worry, everybody. For those of you kind of feel like we do, it's like, yeah, there's worse things we could have done tonight.
Starting point is 00:03:03 UFC 333 is coming up on Saturday. And that is the type of shit. that I am looking forward to. But joining me. And I was going to say maybe to shine some light on this, but apparently it won't be that kind of a program for this young man. Mr. No Gray area, or should I say, Mr. Dark Place, as he told me before the program began, the one and only Jen Mishu.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Jed, what are we, how are we doing? I'm in the darkness, Mike. I made a promise many years ago that I wouldn't imbibeye particular beverages on air, so this is not filled with anything. But rest assured, the moment this show is over, I'll be taking the edge off of a truly terrible day for your boys. Yeah, it was really, everything that has happened to me today has been quite poor. And we capped it off with a very fun knockout. Got to give my props.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Even, you know, whether he meant to throw the knee or not, I don't really care. He meant to throw the strike and it knocked him out and that sick. But as a man who was like, oh, I'm feeling pretty. So I'll see about Joaquin Buckley. Uh, to just be like, nope, that didn't work out at all, which was, I think I've got like four fights on this entire card right. Just haven't had a good day, Mike, but tomorrow's a new one. And it's coming up fast.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Hopefully things will be better. Yeah. How did I do? I started up real bad. I was eight for 13 or I was, yeah, eight for 13. That's got to be better than me. Yeah, I was eight and five. I'll take it.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Four fights. So he's lost two, one four, lost one, one four lost two. I'll take it. Yeah. I'll take it.
Starting point is 00:04:48 A.K. went four of 13. Jeez. That was tough. I mean, that's got to be what I did. Yeah. You thought you did.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Yeah, maybe five for you, but yeah. It was terrible. I misread everything. We'll talk about the co-main event, but I, look,
Starting point is 00:05:06 I lost all of, All of the money I invested many years ago in buying Aaron Blanchfield stock, just gobbling up as much stock as I could. It's like I bought crypto. I bought Bitcoin at 100K and then it cratered. And I've had to, I'm giving my Aaron Blanchild. Do you want some Aaron Blanchfield stock? I have piles of it. And I don't want it around because it's worthless.
Starting point is 00:05:33 It is worthless stock that's just filling up my closets right now. attracting pests basically. It's just been a tough day. Had one of those awful rounds of golf in the morning, Mike. You know that round? I know those rounds where you're like, wow, I'm playing really well. And then nothing, you get zero good bounces and somehow you score quite poorly. Had that happened, so quite frustrated, it took me two hours to get home because they closed I-20 for reasons known only to the state of Georgia.
Starting point is 00:06:06 and then, like, had to immediately dive into this card. And a lot of finishes, so we had that going for us. But the climb is dead. The climb died twice in one weekend. We love when that happens, Mike. It's great. It's been a tough day. And also, of course, the Georgia Bulldogs had,
Starting point is 00:06:24 I genuinely believe, the worst performance of Kirby Smart's tenure at UGA. So I'm in a dark place. But Mike Malat's not. He's in the top 10 now. Mike? Your brother and Mike is a top 10 UFC welterweight. So I'm not like, I'm not like a huge college well fan, but like the one team I do like have a sort of vested interest in is Notre Dame. And they like were getting dummied.
Starting point is 00:06:53 And now they came all the way back to the lead. And now they're losing again with like two under two minutes to go. So down 2824. I just, I just saw that they were losing. So it's like, how did Notre Dame pull ahead? And it was like, I don't, whatever. So it's been a wacky, a wacky college football day. So Jed, let me ask you, there's not a lot of story coming out of this event.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Yes, there were a bunch of finishes, but it was a lot of like, we had, it was, it was again, one of those events where it was just like mediocre stakes. Yeah, we got a lot of finishes, a lot of squash matchmaking that, that panned out. But there were some interesting things. How will you remember this event? We're going to be over this one in 48 hours because we're going to be over. to be on to 333, which is one of the best lineups they have put together this year from top to bottom without question.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Two incredible title fights. Very little complain about there. What will you remember more? The co-main event finish and what you saw from Jasmine and what you saw from Aaron or the main event, just because it was the knockout, what you saw from Mike, what you saw from Joaquin. How will you remember this event, say, tomorrow? I think most people will pick the main event.
Starting point is 00:08:04 And I think that's fair, right? Because, like, this is, this is Mike Mott's first, like, great win. And, like, great is maybe even stretching it. It's walking Buckley. And I'm, it's certainly not a bad win. It's a good win. Great is maybe stretching it. But, like, this is the, what's the Mike Mollat highlight?
Starting point is 00:08:24 For a guy who has finishes, too, it's not like he doesn't have finishes, but it's just, like, he feels pretty forgettable because his finishes are coming over, you know, Chuck Buffalo. right but this one there's no doubt about it right like it's the main event uh against a top 10 guy who oh you know i picked to win a guy who's at or near his physical prime right it's not like gilbert burns was like yeah man you're he's cooked he's washed and it's tough first round but that's a that's a epic highlight real knockout and so like this is the kind of performance in a main event big spot crowd loves you etc that gets you that people will remember So I think most people will remember that the most.
Starting point is 00:09:07 I am going to remember this as the night that Aaron Blanchfield died because she is dead in my eyes. Like I, it is hard for me to overstate how, how much my opinion of her dropped in this fight. It is like, she gave me the ick as like a fighter in a way that is, I have very, very rarely felt. It was just like, oh, you, nothing good can happen for you in the sport. Got it.
Starting point is 00:09:37 And considering I had so much invested at her, it's pretty tough. But, you know, I say all the time, Mike, progress isn't linear in this sport. And when she was 23 and looked like a world beater, I was like, if she just keeps getting better, she didn't. Arguably, she's gotten worse. She certainly hasn't really improved much. And it was, that's the one that's going to be for me. but that's more of a personal attachment. I think most people will take Mike Malott
Starting point is 00:10:04 will be the big story here. Yeah, I mean, and the event in a big way. It was shaping up to be a really bad night for Canada. They got a few in there. 0 for 5. And then Tanner Bozer comes through. The hero. Yeah, the hero they all needed.
Starting point is 00:10:20 Ernest good. Block bad. Tanner Bozer. Tanner Bozer comes through. Paul Felder doing the interview. He's just kind of rubbing his hands right through the shoulder hair of Tanner Bowers. there while asking them the questions and then things started to pick up a little bit for team
Starting point is 00:10:34 Canada but let me ask you this you obviously won't be on onto the next one tomorrow a k will be reunited once again we united Mike malat was asked who do you want next and mike tells paulthal there at least he's staying he's staying consistent you know that's not my jam you know that's not how i like to do business i just want somebody in the top 10 maybe somebody in the top five. Your matchmaking here, Mike Malott versus Blank, fill it in. I do respect that Mike
Starting point is 00:11:06 Malott has a bit and he's going to stick to it. It's not my style. I'm not going to do it. But I think that that's not helping you, especially at this stage of your career, right? Because you, even the being like, yeah, you know, like I'm Canadian,
Starting point is 00:11:22 Canadian, I'll take whoever. Hopefully it's in the top 10, but it'd be better if it's top five like what if you just said what you wanted man it's not a crime to be like what i'd like is to fight a top five opponent and if they happen to be available jack delam madalena would be great because to me i think that's the matchup i'd go with and go with jdm i don't think jadium booked i don't look at like i was doing on to the next one but it feels right like he just beat a top 10 guy there are there's the litany of former champions but oosman won't fight him i i assume leon edwards is retired because he doesn't seem interested in
Starting point is 00:11:55 fighting. I don't know. Ballal's coaching or whatever. I don't know what ball is doing any fighting anybody either. So Jack, sure. Book Jack versus Mike Malott. And if he wins that, then you can get Mike Malon a title shot, right? Like he beat a, he won't be next in line and it would depend on how things go. But depending on how the rest of the waterway shakes out, you book him against Jack,
Starting point is 00:12:18 see what happens. Yeah, I think Jack or Balal, somebody who once held the belt, I think is, is where we got to go here with him. I'm totally in agreement with that. And then Buckley is just, yeah, man, he's just going to be a guy in the division kind of hanging on the top 15. Maybe that's who. I'm not even sure about that one. You think he's, maybe they booed him here after that? I don't think they, I don't think they boot him, but this now raises some questions for me about Buckley.
Starting point is 00:12:50 One, let us never forget one of my favorite. favorite MMA quotes of all time from the great Gilbert Burns who's like if I can't beat Mike a lot I should probably retire. I mean that's true for more than Gilbert Burns right so like transitive property walking Buckley should perhaps consider hanging up genuinely one of my favorite things has ever been said in the sport but is this three losses in a row now right that's always tough and this is this is a bad one not in that he lost to a bad opponent, but he got
Starting point is 00:13:28 knocked out. And so you always wonder kind of what does that do for for Berkeley? I don't think he's getting let go. He'll get to fight again and maybe it's a ranked guy. Maybe it's just like, hey, we want to put another up-and-coming Walterway
Starting point is 00:13:44 and give him a crack at getting into the top 15, right? Some contender series guy. So maybe it's something like that, but how does he respond? Because if you lose four, that's it. Your career's done. Basically, no fighter overcomes four losses in a row to have like a meaningful and productive career after that. It happens extremely rarely. So I'm fully on concern watch for Buckley because, again, he's lost a good opposition.
Starting point is 00:14:09 But three in a row is tough. And then for this to be the way, that often portends a precipitous downfall. How about we do we keep around for another one. we do walking buckley versus roberto soldich next that is tough for solditch i think that's what i said for solditch after that he fought because i was like i think buckley's going to win and i think i wanted him to fight buckley so i don't hate that at all
Starting point is 00:14:43 but uh that that feels like you might be putting buckley out to pasture with it i don't i mean it's kind of where he's that right now right i mean it's kind of to be a guy who's like outside of the top 15 that's trying to make a move like i'm trying to think like an or by just lost so he can't really do that do you give him jeremiah wells does anybody really care do the kevin holl and rematch just for funzies i wouldn't mind that Kevin's booked i know he's fighting euros meditch next but after that fight i just don't i don't know what's ever happened yeah i mean i think i think solditch is a good call
Starting point is 00:15:22 I think that's tough, but I do think Soldich is a good call. Jacoby Smith is an option. Oh, that's also fine. Either of those two dudes who are outside the top 15, but their next fight should be a ranked guy. Fine with all that. Either of those is good.
Starting point is 00:15:37 We shall see. Yeah, kind of going back to the co-main event, to me, I'm kind of with you. Like, the biggest story for me is like... I was not alone in people being like out, out on it. Yeah. because I mean, this is a great, this is Mike Blot's best win by a mile. Without question, it's his best win.
Starting point is 00:15:58 And my eyes are a little bit open. But again, like he is, he is in a very tough division, which he is right about. I totally disagree with him and Paul Feldar that it's the best division in the sport. That's just unequivocally incorrect. It is a very good division. It is up there. Did he call it best? Do you say most exciting?
Starting point is 00:16:18 The best. Mike said it's the best and most difficult division in the sport and then Paul Felder said into the live microphone interviewing him is that I agree with you this is the best and deepest division in the sport and I'm like I don't agree it's not true it's up there different things
Starting point is 00:16:34 I think it's the best top five in the sport because the top five at Walter Wayne's sick yeah but yeah I mean it's but anyways in Toronto every arrival is a state and nothing says it better than this.

Starting point is 00:17:13 Canadian New Vehicle Total Registrations for calendar year 2025 for the Cadillac definition of luxury. To me, I'm with you. Aaron Blanchfield, like, I, on it, midway through the second round, I hit in our Slack channel, I was like, yeah, she's never fighting for the belt. She should just, honestly, she should just go to PFL. She should just be like, I want to go to PFL. She can go fight to Cota Dichiva, and she might actually win that fight. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:39 She would be, she might go out there. She could probably go beat Jenna Bishop right now. She would have a pretty good run with MVPFL because. Yeah, they're looking for a couple of stars. And Aaron's not one of them, honestly. She just doesn't have that charisma. But she is good enough to compete there. The UFC is never going to push her to the belt now.
Starting point is 00:18:01 There's just no chance. And she just got run over tonight by Jasmine Jazz DeVizzias. You could have scored both of those first two rounds, 10-8s if you wanted to. I thought the second one should have been a 10-8. For sure, I wouldn't have hated the first one being a 10-8, since Aaron did literally nothing for five minutes, but get just battered and trying to defend really tough position. She was tagging her on the feet.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Oh. Is that what happened? Yeah. That's an inside joke. It was very funny to me. I'll be one better, Mike. She should retire from mixed martial arts. Wow.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I think she has like, she got a degree from somewhere in like journalism or media. I don't know, go work for a TV station because it's like I can't. It is hard for me to overstate how much I'm like that's the worst. It's one of the worst performances I've ever seen. Like just from a fighter who I had expectations from and who I thought had potential. And like that first round she looked, she did not look like she knew what she was like she was in a fist fight. She looked slow.
Starting point is 00:19:11 She looked lazy. She had zero tactical awareness. of what was going on. And then I was like, okay, maybe, you know, had a long way off. Maybe she wakes up. And then the second round, she does look a little like,
Starting point is 00:19:24 okay, she's energized. And then the moment they come in contact with each other, she just lost her mind. Like, she gave up a good wizard. Like, she just got her, I can't say what the phrase I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:19:37 She just got her butt whooped on the floor in the first round. And freaking jazz divishis has a body lock on her. she's got a strong whizzer that she could have used to defend herself. And she gave that up to like try and hit this like reach over can toss. Like what do you do? Like that is that's basic shit. That's just really bad. And she's a BJ black boat.
Starting point is 00:20:01 She should know better. I am super confident that when they watch the tapes, like what? They're going to what the hell were you doing? You just got your ass kicked on the ground. Why aren't you just trying? And you're winning every moment of the standup. It ain't pretty.
Starting point is 00:20:15 You're obviously winning in one phase. Why are you indulging in another? There was no urgency when she was on the ground to explode and get up. She, every piece of it was bad. She looked like she has regressed technically and tactically. And it became very evident to me. And this has been evident to some people. People have come out and hit me with it.
Starting point is 00:20:38 And that's fair. Right. And it was certainly evident a little bit earlier on. But I don't want to speak for others. myself like the Tylas Santos fight was like okay when she can't just out physical somebody she has real like structural problems to her game that was evident like we we knew that but the idea was she's also 23 she will figure out ways around this she will get better and then this one's like this girl is stronger than me and I have she had nothing she had nothing for that it's like how we've been doing this before like you got you got nothing it's just like how How, I don't know, like, it is the biggest ick to have watched that fight. Because again, I was super high on her. There's so much footage of me being like, she's going to be the champ.
Starting point is 00:21:24 She's going to get it. This division's old and crappy. And I, like one of my biggest misses of all time because she ain't got it. It's not, she's not going to not be a champ. She's never going to fight for the title. It is. So. Not in the UFC.
Starting point is 00:21:39 This is not going to happen. Go do something else. Don't take the head trauma. She, she also just does. is not a fighter. Like, it's pretty clear that, like,
Starting point is 00:21:46 she's an athlete who is good at grappling. Obviously, she should be DJ Blackpelt. Though she didn't look like she knew how to grapple in this fight. But Justice, she's a very good fighter.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Like, you got to give her her props, certainly. But, like, why take the head trauma for not that much money, you know, you can do,
Starting point is 00:22:03 go be an accountant. Like, I don't know. It was really, really bad. Yeah, Jasmine is just a dog, man.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Like, she just, she out-dogged her early. And Aaron was like, like, I can't, I can't be a dog like this. I just can't. And then Jasmine, Jasmine in the third round, like, gave her a chance. Stayed on her feet. It was not afraid of one thing.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Even though Aaron was out striking her, even though we were getting hematomas on Jasmine's head, she was just like, I don't give a shit. You can't hurt me. I'll let you hit me a thousand times. And then she's just like, eh, I'm done with this. And she took her right back down and ended the round on top. As soon as they tied up Blanchfield had no urgency. There was no point where Blentrelin's like, oh, she's grab. me, this is a problem. And then it wasn't like, she was just slow in every facet of the game.
Starting point is 00:22:50 It's like, oh, she's moving to the back. Okay. Like, oh, she's still, every piece of it was so bad. When she hit the reach back and they're in that weird, I don't know what to call that position, but like, if Aaron could physically turn her body, she's on top side control. Yeah. But because of the grip that Jazzavicious has, this is just like a full fight to who's going to hold this and win this out.
Starting point is 00:23:13 And for Aaron, the big key is like, Jasmine can't do anything as long as her legs aren't getting involved. I just have to block this leg and I keep working to turn. And I have gravity and I'm on top. And then she just immediately was like, oh, your legs are free. And Jasmine was like, oh, dope. I've got your back now.
Starting point is 00:23:30 Like, it was, again, she is a significantly better grappler than me. She is a BJJ black belt. And I am dead certain that she will go watch this and be like, I don't know what I was doing anytime we were. because it looked so bad from her. So once upon a time, Jed, people were giving up on McKenzie Dern like this and you wouldn't. You didn't. No, I'm out, man.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Dern. I stayed on Dern. I never gave up on Dern. You never gave up on her, even when other people did. I tried to. There were times when me and Chehen were like, we should, we should quit. And then we were both like, but she did get mount on Jan Jan Han. So I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:16 But we're out. We're totally out. It's it. No way back in. It's over. It's not you. It's me. Nope.
Starting point is 00:24:25 It's not me. It's you. Okay. It's done. Well, what a run. Hit the video montage of Jed's takes about Aaron Blanchfield being champion. Look, I've missed many times as well. This is one of a really, really bad ones.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Yeah. Like really, really bad ones. It wasn't alone. Other people were here with me. but yeah i thought she'd she'd get there at some point especially when she broke in in in her early 20s and was showing off some really good shit like she was out there getting some big finishes over some super tough girls real early in her career but this thing evolves and if you don't evolve with it you're just going to get left behind but freaking jazz and jazz devious man unbelievable
Starting point is 00:25:05 honestly like i i watch her fight and see what she did tonight and i'm just like blown away by it this to somebody who I was like literally interviewing. Great performance. I was, I was interviewing her like before her first pro fight. I was pitched by her old manager when she was like 29 and was like just going from Ami to pro. And like, you got to talk to her. She's from Canada.
Starting point is 00:25:29 She's got a crazy personality. She is like, she's like the woman BJ Penn. He goes not like with skill wise, but like she just hit a pad once and everyone was like, oh. that's not normal. She was dating like an MMA coach and she went on a seminar and like the seminar ended and she just started
Starting point is 00:25:48 hitting pads and hitting the bag and everyone was just like oh something's that's not normal. That someone can just literally do this and everyone stops and looks at someone punching things for the very first time. And this is like in her late 20s, early 30s.
Starting point is 00:26:04 And now she could be fighting for a UFC title eight years later without ever training any MMA discipline until she was like 30 years old that's fucking crazy I don't think that's happening but it's very
Starting point is 00:26:19 again I full props to Jasmine I did not think she was going to win this fight and she looked very good not just won it looked very good in winning it she didn't look good in a way that I'd take I would think a single thing would change if she rematch to Tommy Silva but we also like
Starting point is 00:26:37 she just got sparked by Menall Like, I don't, I don't think she's next up. It wouldn't be impossible, but I just don't think she's the next call. I think she'd get a very good chance of this. And here's why, because of something we found out earlier today. While watching this card, UFC 336 is where? The dot, T. Dot. In Toronto.
Starting point is 00:27:02 In Canada. If Natty Ice is ready to go in January, guess who's getting that phone call? That would be a very unfortunate. for Canada because she will lose. Look, if Aaron Blanchfield is tuning you up on the feet, Natty's going to hang a lot of numbers on you. Probably not going to finish you, but she can hang a lot of numbers.
Starting point is 00:27:25 So. Oh, man. So if they give it to it, like, if they give it to it won't be insane, it will be like a little like, eh, but it won't be crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Just give it to her. Like, like if it's not, like, if Valentin is not coming back to, one, to this division. or two isn't coming back to like the summer or something like just give it to jasmine throw
Starting point is 00:27:45 give her a shot man like who cares it's fresher than the alexa groso fight in a perfect world what i would do it's pretty obvious is valentina would fight in talia if she's not going to 135 and then we do jasmine versus grasso like that fight's friggin fun as shit too but if it's between jasmine and groso i'm giving it to jasmine i'm giving it to her that fight a little further apart This is a great win. The men on wins. But that first fight was not that long ago between Nadi Ice and Grasso. And it was,
Starting point is 00:28:18 it was a tough watch. It was a very tough watch. But we'll see how it plays out. Toronto might give rid of the advantage. Yeah. No kidding. A good one for Christian Perez. What a nasty knockout of Kyle Nelson.
Starting point is 00:28:33 Kyle Nelson was wrestling the referee for longer than the actual fight took, which is, I mean, you got hit real hard if that's the case. So pretty nasty. That was a, I mean, before the main event, that was, I think, the CO that I was like, ooh, the most about it. That one looked pretty gnarly.
Starting point is 00:28:50 For sure. Do we have bonuses yet? That's a question I was wondering. I'm sure we do. I mean, Dana, I believe, did a scrum already, so. We do. I have the bonuses in front. Do you want to guess?
Starting point is 00:29:02 Is there a fight of the night? There is no fight of the night. Okay. So we're going all performance bonuses. Ooh. I mean, there's 12 to choose from. Mike Malat's definitely getting one of them is the easiest thing you could ever possibly say. That's correct.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Malat Perez. Incorrect. You've already missed on your second guess. Perez didn't get one? Did not get one. What the frig? Okay. Mark Andre Barrio?
Starting point is 00:29:31 Did get one. Yes. Nalo. Correct. Oh, boy. I hope they gave it. did they give it to Caitlin Serminara? Sure didn't, which is.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Aglier? Did they give it Tyler? They did. Also, I saw, I saw the clip where Dana looked at that man's name who he clearly did not know and was like, we're just going to call him Joel because he didn't want to say his last name. Wow. Which is terrific because that man fought tonight and Dana was like, I don't, nope, just going to call him Joel. That was my favorite fight of the whole night right there. I had a It's so much fun watching that fight It was a fun time
Starting point is 00:30:15 A big hulking heavyweight Javid Mahjab taking on You know Typical UFC debutante heavyweight You bring in To maybe get squash It was the meme came to life
Starting point is 00:30:28 We're like I don't know if you ever saw this one But this meme would pop up On message board to things Would be a picture of Daniel Cormier Like look in his fattest And it's not a body shaming But it's like
Starting point is 00:30:39 They're trying to make a point It's like DC like shirtless and looking like DC and it's like Larry Wheels. Like how do I explain to people that the guy on the left would absolutely murder the guy on the right? That was this fight. Like how do I explain to people that freaking Joel Faglier would beat Javid Muju? Like well, that's M.M.A. for you, bud. Javid knocked him down like 17 times in the first round. He just couldn't get him out of there.
Starting point is 00:31:09 And then the first, the round edge, Georgia stand up. George is tough right there. Wrigin' Jill just walks gingerly just walks back to his stool like nothing's wrong. And the horns are honest to goodness Bart Simpson or Homer Simpson. Javad's like hitting him and like trying to finish him and the horn sounds. And he immediately just like falls and collapses. He's just hands on his knees, bends over. And I was just like, oh my God.
Starting point is 00:31:35 I was like, Joel could do the funniest thing right now. And then he went out and did it. I'm glad he got a bonus, man. I'm glad he got a bonus. Good for him. Timmy Kwamba, pretty nasty stuff. Didn't get a bonus. I mean, he'll get an extra 25K. Good win over Louis Jorgaine.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Jordan is, uh, if he didn't fight again in the O.C, I don't think that'd be a crime. Yeah. Again, one of those situations where it's just like, eh, maybe you weren't ready for this kid. Good win for Nalo. Tanner Bozier might be the MVP of this actual event. Also, on the Nalo thing, Nate Landreier should not fight again.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Yeah, I think we're done with this. I think if somebody needs to sit him down. But yeah, that's, I think it's a good run. Yeah, been in some wars. It's not like he's 32. He's up there. Bozer the MVP of the card, though. I think Bozzer is the MVP of the card.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Yeah, 100%. He saved Canada. He definitely did. That crowd was on fire. for him. So, uh, Nick Galante really made the, the sadness come out. He just kind of quieted everybody. There's not a sound in that arena after that freaking face. That's such a weird. That's such a weird booking because Guanty was, I think Guanty was the biggest favorite on the car and like was very obviously going to run through LeBlanc. Um, like why booked this in Canada?
Starting point is 00:33:01 It's just like, I don't, I don't know. That was weird. I like, I like Galante coming off contender series. Yeah, he's a nasty ass scrappler, man. Really good. One of those really strong lifts a lot. Dude, he's a middle-weight John Brody. He's the same dude. Yeah, he's very great.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Trains with him. Very much just feels like Sean Brady to me. I mentioned Joel or Joel. Caitlin Cermanagh is back. Not only is that. First finish in her UFC career. First finish in a decade, Jedmishu. She just runs over McKenzie Stiller.
Starting point is 00:33:37 And this is one of those fights where I turned it over to you where I actually in our in our little in our feeding frenzy I watched the first 15 seconds of McKenzie Stiller throwing punches and at least trying to. And I actually my the thing I typed out was like if CERM can't get a finish in this fight, then it like physically is impossible for her to do it. And then luckily she went out there and did it because she was just so much better like Stiller is just not good. probably should not have taken this fight. I don't know why what we're doing here, but Jed, we live in a world. Death Taxes.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Serminare by TKO. Are we changing the narrative forever here? I've genuinely only two thoughts about this fight. And the first one is that people out here telling me, Mike, they're out here telling me, oh, no, UC hasn't changed anything. No, it's just fights.
Starting point is 00:34:32 It's getting better. Oh, my gosh. Buddy Kalin-Serminar is getting, TKOs matchmaking's changed, right? Like that's changed. And the second thought is that this is actually the perfect encapsulation of my night. I had very few bets on this card. And one of them was Kaelin Sermin R by decision. Because in the last, she hasn't won a fight not by decision in over a decade. And she has never want to fight by anything other than decision in the UFC. And so I was like I've I've ridden this train a million times sign up.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Kalyn Sermin R by decision. First round TKO. That's the kind of day I had, Mike, when that shit's happening to me. God, like, come on. Like, surely somebody in the back can be like, Serminar got a TKO. All right, we might be going too far with some of these bookings. We might need to dial it back.
Starting point is 00:35:33 The Sermin R is getting a TKO. what are we doing here? To be fair, this is not the original booking. They're supposed to give her Jamie Lynn Horth, who probably would have beat her for being honest. But hey, look, what a moment. Two and a half years away. Good for her.
Starting point is 00:35:50 New mom. She goes out there and gets a finish. And she's like, hey, it's blonde fighter 2.0. I'm just like, okay, where are you going with this? She's going to sit there and just call for a title shot. And I was going to lose my ship. But she was like, no, this is a really good warm up fight. And I was like, nailed it.
Starting point is 00:36:06 No notes. Perfectly honest with what this was. This is a warm. This is a tune up fight. And it's very rare that you get tune up fights, especially somebody in her position who has had like, you know, multiple fights in the UFC and it's been doing it for so long. The weirdest fight booking on the card was Stephen Costlo versus Chad and Ellinger,
Starting point is 00:36:24 in Eliger, excuse me, with Kozlo not fighting for like four and a half years or four years or something, ends in a rear naked choke late. And then we started the card back-to-back Camor's Jed, including Chelsea Chandler and much of Codagh. Yeah. Hope most of Crodin's okay, because that was nasty. That was a real bad one. Like, I had some seem like something pop there.
Starting point is 00:36:49 So tough for her. But, you know, this is one of those were like early on. I was actually a lot more interested. The Siung-Yu Kumoro was like, ooh, Camaro was kind of fun. A fight wasn't amazing. but he was mainly to young you was just seemed way better than
Starting point is 00:37:05 Cody and then he gets to Camaro's like oh good for him because that fight had been boring but then if you find a way to get a finish in the third round like good you're stepping it up and then the Chandler Camaro was quite good right like that was that fight was pretty decent for the round
Starting point is 00:37:21 it was and then she finished it and it's gnarly and then we started really flagging for like things that I just cared about and then Tanner Bozer saved Canada that was big and important and then the rest of it happened so it wasn't a bad Saturday
Starting point is 00:37:41 especially if you weren't having the worst time of your life like I was about every other thing but yeah this is what we thought it was we got two significant things that happened tonight and some other cool things you know some other chaos maybe this is where we look back and say the Christian Perez run began here. He's he's got some talent. But I think a lot of this is destined to be lost in the
Starting point is 00:38:07 shuffle as 333 is here functionally. Oh yeah. We're done with this by tomorrow. And that's just the nature of the beast. And it's the go home show for a big event with stakes and things that people care about up and down the card. That's just what happens. Some card has to go before it. And it just happened to be this one and just going to be a huge super busy week with so much going on next week that this is just going to get super lost in the shuffle. So but again, if, you know, weather's cooling off, autumn air is flowing and you just like, I just want to lay down, throw a blanket on, eat some popcorn and watching fistfights. You didn't have a, you didn't have a terrible night tonight. You really didn't have a bad night tonight. So can I tell
Starting point is 00:38:53 you a quote from Dana White? There are a couple of them out there, but there's only one that I want to talk about that I've seen. He's speaking with reporters. Somebody asked him about Farid Basharad, who was obviously a big topic of conversation for us this week. And Dana, quote, this is per Jedi Goodman's clip. If you're 16 and 0 with seven wins in the UFC and you don't get re-signed, there's definitely a reason.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Yeah, that sounds correct. Feels like we all know what's going on. So good to have him comment on it, though, I guess. Yes. We got to make room for, we got to make room for some of these other fighters. You know, we got to, we got to make room for whoever Anthony Wintz going to fight next or. Joel, that dude's a hero. So sign him.
Starting point is 00:39:43 Apparently, Tanner Bozer called for Anthony Wint. I don't know if we'll get it, but. Oh, did he? Apparently. That's what the chat said. That's an excellent call out if he did that. That's a great call out. I would pick Tanner Bozier in that fight.
Starting point is 00:39:58 I would pick him to win. I will not pick him to win. I won't be shocked if he does, but I won't be picking him to win. Yeah, he's that that is like, I mean, you want to talk about that's not just a step up. That is like going from one continent to another.
Starting point is 00:40:14 I mean, literally fighting the worst dudes you can possibly find to a guy who like, beat the shit out of like a decent heavyweight, a guy who was ranked not that long ago. I mean, that is a monument. Tanner Bros. is a professional fighter, and Anthony Wood has yet to really fight one of those.
Starting point is 00:40:34 That's true. Exactly. Exactly. And I also, I already kind of hate Anthony. Not for anything he's done, but because he broke my contender series scouting reports. Because, like, my original score on him was quite low. It's like,
Starting point is 00:40:48 he's probably a three star. But then he already had several fights. I was like, he's very stupid to put him as a three star because they're just going to keep doing this. And he's, he's on the full blown Josh Hokit path. So like, I got to bump him up. I was like, but I don't think he's good.
Starting point is 00:41:05 So. I mean, he will be. It's, I mean, there's room to grow there. Look, I thought Aaron Blancher would be good. So no one take anything that I've ever said to heart because I don't know a thing. Because Anne Blanchold's not good. But see, Aaron Blanchold started this game when she was eight years old. Anthony went, tried a bunch of different things and landed on the,
Starting point is 00:41:27 She hasn't been doing this as long, or at least Anthony hasn't. So maybe there's a difference here. I mean, Anthony Wynch is very athletic and I, Aaron Winfield is not. That's a big difference. The only, like, if she could find a way to make 115, maybe she could get something going, but like, she's just dead to me.
Starting point is 00:41:53 I just don't think she's got it. All right. It's such a shame. I was telling you in Slash, like Fatima Klein needs to get away before the poison latches onto her. Fatima's fun and interesting and I have such high hopes for her. Get out of that gym.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Go somewhere because I don't want the same fate to befall you. That's very interesting. It's tough. Let's go to the peeps. Super Chats gets to the front of the line. Let's fire through. We're not going to be here very long. I don't know what this means.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Buckley got Peter Griffin. I don't know what that means. But Killers, if you could explain. It's probably something I should know, like immediately, but yeah, a little more context, please. I'm not suit. Like, I've watched plenty of family guy, but I don't have that deep in knowledge of it. Left lane, last show for the season starts. What's both your picks for NBA Finals matchup, champ MVP rookie the year?
Starting point is 00:42:49 Jesus Christ. Much your dismay, okay, so you'll be winning once again. I'm not going to draw this. win. I will I don't watch the NBA so this is all the most casual shooting from the hip. I'll
Starting point is 00:43:05 go Spurs because I think Wemby's too good to not eventually win a final so sure. I'll also pick him for MVP for the similar reasons. You put a firearm to my temple and I couldn't tell you a single rookie playing in the NBA this year.
Starting point is 00:43:21 So John Davidson a genuine could not tell you who is the rookie in the NBA this year. And then Spurs, sure, Knicks, why not? Wrong. Spurs, Celtics, Celtics champ, MVP, Jason Tatum, let's go.
Starting point is 00:43:44 I love that. Just go full over. Of course. What else am I going to do? I love anybody but the Knicks, for the love of God, if anybody but the Knicks can win the championship, it's a good year. like it's a terrific year
Starting point is 00:43:57 that's the case so no thoughts on that just don't doesn't rate to me at all but Wimby's a Martian so he'll probably win a title at some point so I'm gonna pick him the painting dead
Starting point is 00:44:12 did anyone have flashbacks when Alja got caoed by Maro Maraise that was actually extremely similar yeah exactly Marius threw a kick ended up being in need of the face extremely similar
Starting point is 00:44:25 the Aljo on was the Buckley one was scary the Algera one was like way scary that was a super big Buckley didn't Buckley face planted after like a minute
Starting point is 00:44:34 and then he ate a follow-up shot that looked like it was pretty gnarly uh yeah I do think the Algerone seemed a little scarier but they were both quite rad
Starting point is 00:44:45 if you want to see a nasty knockout um go to M.A. Fightings social media Jimmy Rivera They had a cop versus criminal fight at BKFC Newark tonight. Jimmy Rivera killed a man. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:45:06 Go watch his knockout. It was a tree fall, faceplant, timber, nasty ass knockout. Okay. Really good. Go check that out. How about this? Scott McCray. Blanchville is a straw weight that just can't make 115.
Starting point is 00:45:21 She's too small for 125. She can't make 115. then she ain't a straw weight. I feel like she should be able to make $1.15, but I'm not in charge of her diet or whatever. She's not big for this weight class. But she hasn't been doing it. Maybe this will be a loss that she says,
Starting point is 00:45:43 I need to move up or I need to get a dietician and really like focus and get it down. And if she does, I'll be tempted to be like, I could be invested. and then I'll just look, I'll rewatch four minutes of this fight. I'm like, nope, never again. Tia Hernandez,
Starting point is 00:46:02 today was rough to stay awake for, but I did it. So did we. We all did it together. Nice. Great teamwork right there. L.O., can they rant about how Megan leaving the panel were gloating that Jasmine
Starting point is 00:46:13 was the only winner that needed the judges? I don't have to rant. I don't. It just doesn't mean anything to me. It's one of those things were like, the first time it was it's like a little annoying it's just like if if this if
Starting point is 00:46:27 if you think that chaos are indicative of quality then okay you are entitled to that opinion you can like what you like but it will not change my thoughts on tonight and if they want to gloat about it
Starting point is 00:46:39 go for it you know if chaos is the only thing that matters then you're saying that this card and UFC Serbia and UFC 332 were all better than UFC 331 and you're just wrong like you're just wrong about that you just are um you need stakes need things that matter we would like it's fun to talk about stuff past the event like and you're not just you're just not going to get that with these cards they're just flash in the pans they're
Starting point is 00:47:08 over and done with and they're literally forgotten about forgotten about even though it's fun it's good short-term stuff it's okay we don't need to go down this rabbit hole I've done this a billion things Do we learn anything about Caitlin Serminire? She defeated a 115er who was going up on short notice. And we should probably also point out a 115er who probably shouldn't be in the UFC. Like, come on. We learned that after a two-year layoff, she's still solid, right? Like, are she still solid, you know?
Starting point is 00:47:40 Yeah. Like, based on how, like, the atrocity that was Aaron Blanchfield, I'm not a hundred percent that Cermanagh wouldn't have beaten her tonight. You know, like it's feeling that she's still here. She's still viable. And after a two-year layoff, that's not always the case. So, good on her. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:04 What else we got? Wait, what? Oh, okay. Amen's a hobby. All right. What about it? I feel for Aaron. She finished Tracy, but Tong got the title shot off the same win, but not as
Starting point is 00:48:18 good timing wasn't on her side. I mean, I don't, I think that would have gone quite poorly for her based on tonight. So. Yeah. But again. Then she would have at least said she fought for a title, which now she'll never do. But yeah. The problem is, it doesn't matter. Like, you're in the UFC and like you could win fights. And I even said this on morning combat. I was like, if you could put Jasmine's personality in Aaron Blanchfield, she would have already fought for the belt.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Aaron just, she's vanilla ice cream. Like, you'll eat it. And it's fine. And I won't stand for this slander. People say this all the time. Vanilla is a wonderful ice cream flavor. It's fine. I don't, I don't understand how people have decided that vanilla is bad. I love vanilla ice cream. Vanilla ice cream is unbelievably good. It's the best ice cream. It's good.
Starting point is 00:49:02 It's not your first choice. Absolutely. It's the best ice cream. If you're like, hmm, there's there's vanilla and then there's like cookies and cream. There's mint chocolate chip. There's moose tracks. You're not picking vanilla. You're just not. I'm taking vanilla every time. I, he's slander against
Starting point is 00:49:18 vanilla ice cream. It's not even a slander. It is one of the great ills perpetrated in American culture. It's fine. Everybody likes it. That vanilla has come to mean generic and bland and uninteresting is so deeply
Starting point is 00:49:34 wrong to me because it is so good. And it's not vanilla is like a hard to buy, it's not hard to buy because nothing is. It's like an expensive spice. It is a great ice cream and I will not tan for this vanilla slander.
Starting point is 00:49:50 Dude, even vanilla, even ice cream makers think vanilla is not the best. In fact, they make like four different vanillas and still regular vanilla is not the first. That's right. Vanilla has French vanilla. You can have French vanilla natural, you know, all sorts of vanilla because no one picks regular vanilla. Wonderful flavor. No one picks regular vanilla. They just don't.
Starting point is 00:50:10 They'll pick something else. They'll pick French vanilla. I pick it every time. I will take it almost, you know, variety is the spice of life. so you always want to mix it. But vanilla is the best ice cream by far. And it's a slander. It's not slander.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Aaron Blanchfield is not nearly as good as vanilla ice cream. Neally as good as vanilla ice cream. Oh, my God. That's great. Oh, my gosh. Man, what a day. I'm here fighting about vanilla ice cream. The dogs have the worst performance they've ever had
Starting point is 00:50:50 from my adult life. I see vanilla bean. I mean, there's, even that's better. Yeah, I need to rant about Georgia so I can go some poison off my chest. I know most of you won't care and that's fine. Mike, I don't know to what extent you are aware that this happened, but I need you to understand how upset I am and not in the ways I'm traditionally upset with UGA football, which are almost exclusively related to Mike Bobo.
Starting point is 00:51:19 Straight up, Mike Bobo has been quite good this year. He has not been the, he still, no, no OC is perfect. He still absolutely does some things that I find objectionable. He has not been even like a remotely significant problem. Kirby Smart just gave up on this game before it even happened in a way that it's like so disheartening because it doesn't matter. And like, especially on the advent of the 24 game thing that got announced this week, it was like 24 game. It's like, okay, well, games just don't mean.
Starting point is 00:51:53 matter then if we're doing this this many entries into the college football playoffs i hate that is awful it already is bad now like i already feel this some way but i never felt it more than i did today or it's just like kirby smart is usually furious on the sideline when we're winning by 20 right like we were losing to unranked alburn at home and looked bad wasn't like they looked out of their minds It's like we just looked like we were sleepwalking. And he wasn't like fired up and screaming and yelling at people. I was like, what's happening? And then all the stories come out where like all week long Kirby is,
Starting point is 00:52:29 Kirby talked about like, you know, we're mentally beat up and we're, we're tired. We've, you know, it's been, it's been hard. We got a lot of people. It's like, it is week seven. And three of our four games were cupcakes. If you're mentally beat up through four weeks of real football, that's a coaching. problem. That's your job is to be like, hey man, you got
Starting point is 00:52:52 to lock in, it doesn't matter. And we super weren't. Like, in my life, I don't remember Nick Saban ever talking about a week seven game being like, we're just really beat up, it's tough. Like, we played nobody you for three of the first seven, like
Starting point is 00:53:08 six games. It was such a disheartening loss that nobody cared. It felt like nobody cared. Gunner Stockton, who probably is the other person I'd blame for this loss, though. Not trying to harp on him. He played quite poorly, though.
Starting point is 00:53:23 His post-fight interview was just like, he was smiling the whole time. I'm like, I'm sure he feels some type of way. But it's just like, come on. You lose at home to Auburn, the oldest rivalry in this house. And you lose at home to not a good football team and nobody gives a shit. Oh, it's like, is one of the, like, genuine saddest moments of my sports fandom in the last, like, five years. You feel better? A little bit.
Starting point is 00:53:50 I feel a lot more because normally my anger is very justified and it's very angry because Mike Bobo is bad. That is not what happened at all here. We looked asleep and apparently nobody was like put a foot somewhere to get people to wake up. And, you know, it's just, it's very, very difficult to deal with that one. Sorry, it's such a bad day. But you know what, Chad, all day's good, bad. Happy, sad. They all come to an end.
Starting point is 00:54:22 And then we get to go to sleep and then we get to do it again tomorrow. But then I have to watch the Colts play tomorrow. And I got to tell you, that's not really improving my mood much lately. Brentford lost this morning, too. I forgot to even mention that. We got two red cards. One of them was garbage. And we lost Liverpool at home.
Starting point is 00:54:41 This is a terrible day. And Notre Dame has lost. Did they end up losing? 2824. Number eight. BYU. A couple of crazy games. Sweet then.
Starting point is 00:54:52 Yeah, what a wild. What a wild college. The Miami FSU game was insane. Yep. Crazy. Texas. Texas game is wild. I mean, just so much.
Starting point is 00:55:01 I didn't end up watching much of that. So much happening. I was in a car for two and a half hours. No, yeah. For a 45 minute drive. Ugh. I hate when that happens. But guys, AK and I will be here tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:55:15 On to the next one. Well, not here, but we'll be on the broadcast airways. And then it's UFC 333 week. It's RIA 14 week. Big live show on Wednesday. Lots of programming this week. It's going to be awesome. I cannot wait for 33.
Starting point is 00:55:30 It's a fantastic card. Top to bottom. Every fight is freaking great, including literally the curtain jerker. Very much excited. Very much looking forward to it. We appreciate you joining us. Vanilla ice cream is fine,
Starting point is 00:55:43 but not the best. We're out of here. Love y'all. Unless Aaron Blancho is watching. and I do not. I don't know why it's this previous show, but oh well. Why not? Life is pain.
Starting point is 00:55:57 We make Chevrolet vehicles, but what you do with them makes them so much more. You make them mobile offices, your kids' personal taxi, a concert shuttle, your hockey equipment locker, your recording studio. We make a Chevrolet,
