MMA Fighting - UFC Rio Post-Fight Show | Reaction To Charles Oliveira Destroying Mateusz Gamrot, Max Holloway Callout
Episode Date: October 12, 2025Charles Oliveira made it look easy against Mateusz Gamrot in the main event of UFC Rio, delivering a pillar-to-post performance en route to a second-round submission victory to get back in the win col...umn. After the fight, Oliveira called for a BMF title fight against Max Holloway, and the MMA community seems to agree. Following a wild Fight Night card on Saturday night in Brazil, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee react to the event, Oliveira's performance, and callout of Holloway for a second meeting in the octagon. Additionally, they discuss Deiveson Figueiredo's decision win over Montel Jackson in the co-main event, if the title hopes for Gamrot and Jackson are officially gone, strange referee moments throughout the event — including the controversial first round in the Joel Alvarez decision win over Vicente Luque — and much more. You're listening to the Vox Media Podcast Network.
There you have it, folks.
The victory drums.
They beat and they sound.
For one, Charles Dubranks, Olivera, the former UFC lightweight champion of the world
goes out there and just mops up.
Matush Gamrod.
This fight was not competitive, even for a second.
I mean, maybe for a second, Gamrock gets a takedown and we're thinking,
oh, maybe things might happen.
And then Oliver just dragged him through the mud.
Round two, Oliver started beating him up on the feet,
started bullying him around, didn't give Gamrod any respect on the feet.
And then he takes Gamrod down in route to a rear naked choke submission.
Round two, Charles Olivera, gets it done to cap off a fun roller coaster ride,
a weird ass event, just a strange event for a number.
of reasons and we'll touch on all of those reasons throughout tonight's post-fight show,
but I am Mike Hack and joining me to react to all the craziness.
Once again, you get the best friends, the one and only Alexander Cayley,
AKA, how are we doing?
Are you having a wonderful Saturday evening?
Mike, I am my best friend.
What happened?
I thought we said after our kind of morose preview show, we were going to have some more colors
here.
What's going on?
You're still got sort of a funereal vibe going on.
It's gray.
the light is off. It looks, yeah, yeah, it looks a bit block on.
Gray is still kind of, kind of dreary. Where's the yellow? We could have known a yellow and green thing.
Guys, we didn't see guys, guys, we let you real with you. Like, we don't coordinate for the show.
You know, if magic happens, magic happens sometimes. I'm just a little confused now, Mike.
I thought we'd be in a good vibe. We went on a high note. I don't know how people felt about the whole card.
I think it was like a pretty, pretty sturdy, like well-paced 12-fight card. I don't feel it dragged at any point.
But it definitely wasn't like a home run. I don't think, and a home run ending, huge.
Huge ending. Clutch, clutch hit at the end by Charles Oliver. Everyone's gone home happy.
But I'm just, you know, throughout the night, there was definitely moments. We were a little,
some eyebrow raising moments and not always necessarily for positive things.
Yeah, I think that's a great way to describe it. And, you know, I'm not really that colorful because
literally in five hours, an Uber is coming to pick me up and drive me to the airport so I could
fly back to South Carolina. So it's, it's kind of a weird night. And I want to be comfortable for
this drive. And I have a feeling I'm basically.
just going to wake up, brush my teeth, and hop in the Uber and go to the airport.
So we're going with the lighter grays compared to the black.
But what a weird final three fights, AK.
I mean, and it's not like the Oliver fight was weird.
It was just such a poetic ending.
But we got the Joel Alvarez, Vicente Lucque fight, which was just an absolute disaster,
from the refereeing to Michael Bisbing on color commentary,
to Joel Alvarez in the third round
doing absolutely nothing.
It was one of the weirdest fights of the year.
Then we go to the co-made event.
We are waiting for this moment,
AKA you and I have been the drivers,
the co-conductors of the Montel Jackson train.
For nearly a decade,
we've been saying,
this guy is really good,
and if he can just get in there and fight,
he's going to fight for a belt.
He has a chance to become a world champion,
and he gets the opportunity
to fight Davis of Figurato.
and does nothing.
I mean, truly does nothing.
And Davidson Figurato is no longer nutty, Davidson Figurato.
He is no longer Randy Johnson with the mullet and the mustache throwing a buck 10 on the outside.
No, no, no, no.
He's now short hair, clean-shaven, Greg Maddox, painting the corners at 80 miles an hour,
just getting people out, getting 14 win seasons.
that's the figure we're getting now.
And then Charles Oliver just goes out there,
it just beats the holy hell out of Batush Gamrod.
So, AK, this was a very top heavy event.
We were looking forward to all three of these fights.
Your reaction to how these three fights played out from start to finish.
Oh, man.
Well, we're talking about Mantell Jackson.
Let's just talk about him right now.
You know, we have to have the usual caveat guys.
We're doing some backseat driving here,
and backseat judging, coaching, whatever you want to go, backseat cornering, right?
Of course, everything's easier said than done, right?
You know, we want to get full credit to Davidson Figurato for his performance, like,
one of the best fighters of this generation, two-time UFC champion.
And like, it's been a pretty good bantamweight, right?
His losses are to Piotr-Jon, Corey Sanhagen.
So it's not like his losing streak was like, oh, my gosh, this guy can't compete at 135.
He lost the two of the five best band weights in the world.
But I would like to think we can all agree that we definitely didn't see the best
version of Montel Jackson that we could have.
I don't know, Mike, if we're giving off too much of, oh, I'm not angry.
I'm just disappointed vibe, you know, because, I mean, listen, Montel's a grown man.
Do you hear it?
I hear it.
Whoa, that was weird.
I'm sorry.
I heard a sound in the back.
It's outside, yeah.
Okay, okay.
All good.
All good.
All good.
But I think we do have to be, like, honest and sort of critical about Montel's performance.
Like, right from the beginning, he got taken down because, you know, he's, I don't want to get
too technical here, but it's not my specialty.
He stepped in, throws a one, two, doesn't quite land, puts him right into
range of a figgy takedown.
And that happened again in round two as well.
And it clearly made him very gun-shy, made him afraid to throw.
Now, why his team, one, was not prepared, like super prepared for that possibility,
because that's, like, the most logical counter that figure-Aida would have is to wait for
Montel Jackson to close in and then take him down.
And two, how did they not work more on sort of establishing that jab and things that
Montel could do at range?
Because Montel had an enormous reach advantage to go to this.
I think it was like eight inches, some of that?
Like crazy, crazy reach advantage.
And again, easier said than done, right?
I'm sitting on my butt saying that that, that he should have done this, should have done that.
But we all saw the fight guys.
We all saw the fight.
We've all seen Montel fight before.
I think that's more importantly what I'm saying.
I think that's, we know Montel's good.
Montel's a great fighter.
He's a great fighter.
And Mike and I've been saying for a long time, like just he needs to get healthy and get these opportunities.
Sure enough, gets a top ten guy, fights for the second time in a year for the first time in a long, long, long time.
And, you know, it just wasn't his night.
It just wasn't his night.
And it looks like going forward to maybe, maybe it'll be, it'll be that way going
forward so uh really just just tough to see really like montel i still think is a very good fighter still
thinks there's plenty of wins to be had in the octagon is there ever going to be that run of run of
wins that takes into a title shot just seems really unlikely now seems really unlikely i try to be
positive and we try to really make sure that the front page headlines for these events are
like really talking about the great moment that happened that solidified the card and yes what charles
Oliver did and getting the
raucous ovation and all of that and the crowd
the hero's welcome and the heroes moment
him getting the finish and jumping into the crowd
like I will remember that
but come tomorrow when I get text about this card
oh what was UFC real like
is going to be the funeral
of championship hopes
for Montel Jackson
and Matush Gamrod
like it's over
we're gonna we just we saw two very good
fighters who are never fighting for
a UFC belt. And that's just the way that it is. Montel Jackson and this division is not
even going to be a top 10 guy because he's just not going to get the fights anymore because they've
given him two chances now, AK. They've given him two opportunities to show up and have a big moment.
One was against Brett Johns and then this one. And this was obviously a bigger fight than the Brett one.
And both fights were like exactly the same. He just didn't throw. He just tried not to lose.
And it was just like really frustrating to watch because there were moments like the end of the second
round, Montel's like landing jabs.
He's starting to pick things up a little bit,
starting to get after it a little bit more.
And then round three just does nothing.
And it was just so tough to watch, man.
It really was.
I don't know, Mike.
Yeah, I don't know.
Again, we're not in there.
You know, we're not in there.
I joked on Twitter that like, oh, well,
that wasn't exactly like a Yuri Parasca-esque, you know,
final round for Montel.
But again, this is what we see more after than not.
Yuri Parasca has spoiled us.
We all think, well, if a guy knows he's down on the cards
or isn't sure if he's,
I wasn't sure he's up.
I don't know what Montel's corner said.
It was one one going into the third.
Was it on all three score cards?
I actually didn't look at the official cards after.
Well, it was 29, all three scores were 29, 28s, all of them.
Right.
That's right.
And one went to Montel and one went to McGee.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And listen, like I said, I'm sure we're all at home thinking, man, Montel just
press forward and go for a finish.
But again, he'd been taking down once, been taken down twice.
He wasn't winning all the exchanges either.
Like you said, Mike, he was picking things up.
Maybe he got felt Figgie's power one too many times.
I don't know.
Maybe the moment just got to him.
Those 15 minutes, I bet they probably flew by in his mind.
I bet if you're Montel in there, those 15 minutes just like ticked away in like a flash.
And before you knew it, you were on the losing end of a split decision.
So yeah, it was hard to watch, man.
It was hard to watch again as a fan of Montel.
And not to take away from what Figgie did.
Seeing guys like Figgie, who we know are great champions still perform at this level.
Like you said, like using their off speed stuff, you know, not having that fastball anymore.
It's a pleasure to watch.
I was probably too focused on, you know, our sort of pre-fight narrative, Mike, that we had talked about a lot of like,
maybe this is the time Montel makes the jump.
And he was a huge favorite going to the fight.
Well, he was not the biggest favorite, but he was one of the bigger favorites.
Yeah, minus 3.30.
Look it, depending where you look, at least minus 300 or above, three to one favorite to win this fight.
That's pretty crazy.
And it's hard to see it go down the way it did.
Again, I hope he can bounce back and, you know, keep winning fights.
But the matchmakers are going to be very, very.
hesitant to put him up against a top 10 guy for a long time.
Yeah.
And that's why I said on the preview show, if you're going to bet on that fight,
you bet on Figgy.
Like those lines are crazy.
And Montel has been in these spots before.
So it's tough, man.
Like the guy's super talented.
He's probably going to bounce back and fight like a top 35 guy next.
He's going to nuke him.
And then we're going to be like, oh, where is this dude?
And then he's going to probably nuke the next guy.
And then we're going to give him a shot against like the 14th ranked dude.
and yeah, it's just tough, man.
He was pissed.
And by the way, I'm looking at the cards right now.
Fabio Alves had it 1919.
Right.
He was the guy who scored it for Montel eventually.
Yes, he scored round three for Montel.
Yes.
All three judges gave Montel the third round.
Oh, okay.
So Jaron Philel and Clemens Werner both had Figuette up 2-0.
So, yeah, Montel didn't need a finish if he was going to win the fight.
Dang.
Who knew?
Who knew?
but in Matush Gamrott, you knew
it's one of those main events
where we were just like, okay,
two minutes in, we knew
that he had no chance of putting him this fight.
He gets the takedown,
Oliver immediately takes the back,
and we're just like, okay,
Gamrots are now going to have to throw hands of this man
if he's got to win,
and he's going to have to knock him out.
And Olivera just,
the disrespect, I guess,
that Charles Oliverer showed Matush
Gamrod on the feet in round two.
He's literally walking towards him like Davidson Figurato used to walk at Joseph Benavitas, what he would fight him?
His hands are down.
He's like, go ahead and hit me.
I dare you to.
And then he was just crack him.
And then eventually he took him down.
The fight was over.
Like Charles Oliver is great.
And the big story coming out of this is AK, what do we always say?
What has been our mantra here at M.A.
fighting since like UFC 280.
Do the thing.
Just go out and do the thing.
And what does Charles Oliver do?
he does the damn thing he gets on the mic michael bisming does the who do you want to fight next
brings over his coach puts him over this guy right here is the reason i performed so well he believed
in me the confidence he gave me put me in this position and then bisman follows up and says
what else do you need to accomplish charles and then charles olivera in english says hunter campbell
max holloway bmf title and i'm like bro you couldn't have nailed this anymore i just tweeted this
And it's not like he looked at my tweet.
Like this has been the fight to make for like four years now.
But now we have it.
He has the BMF title.
We never got the first one.
And now it is here.
Any other matchmaking,
AK,
would be promotional malpractice.
Would it not?
No,
has to be done.
Has to be done.
We've all wanted to see this rematch.
I think even before the BMF belt existed.
But now,
you know,
a credit to what Nate Diaz for inventing the damn thing.
It gives you that extra like kind of just lock it in,
you know,
for the matchmakers,
right if there's any hesitation in their part we're like oh well we don't know what this means because
these guys are veterans and what does this mean for the title picture like this is why the bmf title
was invented it was almost to take these elite guys who we love who are sort of like have either had
the title or fought for the title and like they're they're kind of in that contender limbo guess
what there's this very fun prop you invented guys you guys you guys have heard me call titles props
before sometimes i mean that as a compliment okay and i mean that as a compliment with the bmf belt
this is what it is for is to give a fight a little extra juice it is to essentially like you know
not everyone can fight for it right it is it is to establish that these are guys that fans acknowledge
as the bmfs of this era the max holloways the justin gaitis the charles olivares right but regardless
of all the other accolades they have this is one thing that sets them apart that like no amount of
wins can can get for you right like you could be maga man ankylai and go 14 fights unbeaten you're not a
BMF. That's not how it works. You can be Moussar of Loya, undefeated in your career. There's no one,
no one calling Mubovovov of Loya of a BMF. But guys like Charles, gods like Max, guys like
like Hachiaz, all these guys are talking about Hohrhe Mazz and Naitiaz and all that. They're
BMS. That's what's so great about it. So I don't know when this fight's going to happen.
I hope we see it in the first quarter of 2026, health permitting. I think it'd be a great way
to start off the UFC year. You have that in January, February, something like that.
It would be just be amazing. But I'm willing to wait. I got to wait until next summer. I'll wait till
next summer i don't know what it takes they would want to try and save for ufc white house
might be a little too far for me mike i don't know what do you think what do you think
do you think they hold off june next june eight months a long time i don't know man but it makes
sense it does make sense though for the white house card this fight makes sense for the white house
card i think so right hawaii right back holloylea rep in hawaii right they go they want they need
American they need American champions right on the car at this old point they want to have
some American champions on there we don't have any except for Kayla really and and then the
BMF title with with Max right you do this like February March that's what I want I hope
I hope they're not going to save this they're not going to save this for the whiteout I am very
scared I'm saying this now I probably said it before that the UFC White House plans are going
to potentially screw up a lot of the first half of 2026 because I feel like there's big
fights that they should just give us and they may have they may hold off to stack that card.
I don't know.
And I hope I'm wrong.
I really hope I'm wrong.
Yeah, I mean, I don't think they need that.
I don't think they need it.
It'd be cool, but I don't think they need it.
You can put this fight made events any pay-per-view.
Like, without question.
Yes.
This is a main event.
This is a pay-per-view main event fight.
Or at least in the Paramount era, it's a numbered event main event.
It's gigantic.
It's a huge, huge fight.
Two super popular guys.
you can do this.
This is,
this is, I was going to say this is a back pocket fight,
but this is a whenever you need it,
call me,
they'll be there kind of fight.
So if you need a made event for February or March or,
well,
not February,
because that's going to be in Australia.
So that ain't going to happen.
But like March and Vegas,
works for me.
Miami, you know they're going back in the spring.
Like,
that's a sick mate of it from Miami.
Max Holloway versus Charles Oliver,
that'd be awesome.
So, yeah,
you just have to make it.
You just have to make it.
it. Charles Oliver wants it. Give the man what he wants. Max Holloway seems to want it. He's talking a little
shit apparently on his kickstream saying like, I'm already the king of Rio. This fight will
happen under my terms. It's not going to happen in Brazil. So he's talked a little bit of shit,
stir on the pot a little bit. And look, Max technically has a win over Charles Olivera. But it's
not the fight we've gotten. Now it's time for the fight. We deserve. We deserve this fight. All of you who
we're here with us deserve this fight.
Anyone who will watch this after the fact deserves this fight.
We have suffered through so many shitty apex cards in order to get to this fight.
We deserve it.
And we're going to get it.
Hopefully it gets done.
We have eaten our veggies, Mike.
We've eaten our veggies, Mike.
We have eaten our veggies.
Let's get to the main course.
Yeah, let's get to the main course.
We talked about figurado's win.

Do we...
I know we're getting questions about Joel Alvers
versus Fessensei Lucke.
First of all, that was like one of the satisfieds ever.
Vicente Luque, he's just kind of done, man.
And we kind of knew this is going to happen.
I wouldn't have hated it at the corner just threw in the towel.
Apparently what was said on the broadcast is not like 100% really what was said.
Henry Hoops, like, you're ready to go?
And they were like on the broadcast.
They were like, yeah, Vicente's like, of course I'm ready to go.
But apparently what he said was like, I can't see out of my eye.
And they were like, good, go get him.
And it was like, what is happening right now?
And then Joel Alvers decided to do absolutely nothing.
And it was super weird because Joel Alvarez, AK, did something he's never done before.
He has gone to a decision for the first time in his career.
And on top of that, he should have gotten a friggin TKO in round one.
Because he threw the strike.
It was legal.
Vicente Luque went down.
He's like, I'm hurt.
I can't fight, whatever.
and it should have been a TKO.
It should have been a TKO.
And what happened was
the referee, not only did he say like,
hey, the shot was legal.
Not only did he not stop the fight.
He gave Vicente Lucke like two and a half minutes to recover.
And then John Gooden and Michael Bisping are arguing on the broadcast.
They're arguing on the broadcast.
Like this is an episode of Melrose place.
And John Gooden is a saying.
He forget Trump getting the Nobel Peace prize.
John Goodidge should get it for not like just screaming at Michael Bisbing who's just like he's
good and saying something.
And Bisbee's like, no, but he does this and Gooden's like, no, that's what I'm saying.
And this was like, no, you're not.
Let me talk, John.
And I was losing my freaking shit, AK.
I was losing my mind.
So your thoughts on all of this, the broadcast weirdness, the nonstoppage, the non-TKO,
the referee allowing Vicente Lucay to recover for like, oh,
those three minutes after a legal strike.
It was super weird.
That fight just like cannot have gone worse.
For the crowd, for Luka, I would say even.
Not so much for Joe Oliver's.
I think Joe Alvarez comes out of this.
Okay, I know there's a lot of people to be disappointed that, yes, he didn't finish,
first time ever in his career that he hasn't want to fight with a knockout or submission.
But he dominated, clear win, no question who the better fighter was.
I do think there was an element of
of him not wanting to hurt
Luque more.
I don't mean to disrespect Luque like that
by just saying like, oh, this guy could have went away
anytime he wanted.
Like, you know, Luque was doing something
sort of defensively on the ground, like staying alive.
I get it.
I really believe if Alvarez wanted to just turn it up
and just like totally smash
Luke's brains in with like ground pound,
I think he could have done it.
I think out of respect, I think he was dominating so much.
I think he was aware of how badly Luquea was hurt
and couldn't see out of his friggin' eye.
he was like, I'm just going to take the win.
I'm going to take the win and, you know, keep this run going and have a good,
a good Walterweight debut.
Lukie's been fighting, if I'm doing my math right, since he wasn't even 17 years old
when he made his pro debut 16 years ago.
16 years ago, I think I'm right.
There's just so much mileage on this man.
And I said this in my predictions.
I think we talked about on the show.
Like, he's one of those guys who like, because, again, like I said,
he's been funny since he was 17.
We look at his age.
We go every year, it's like, well, Luke is only 31.
Oh, he's only 32.
He's only 33.
Like, he still has a lot of years left.
No, he's like 40, 41, 42 with the fight years.
And again, and people are going to point to this problem.
I hate it.
And I go like, well, Luca, oh, Luca didn't get finished.
Like, he should keep going on.
And I'm not saying Luca needs to retire.
I don't want to do that.
But it is really sad right now to see him essentially reached this gatekeeper role.
And a gatekeeper role where, like, I don't think he's, you.
even believable as a gatekeeper anymore.
Like, I just think we all knew Joel Alvarez was going to win this,
just how was it going to happen?
And we somehow got this really depressing result.
I almost, it getting properly called a finish mic off the punch to the eye
would have really been the best way.
Because, like, we would have gotten our first round finish from Alvarez.
The fans wouldn't have been happy.
I get it.
But they certainly weren't happy with how it played out.
I would say this was even worse.
And Luka would live to fight another day with hopefully minimal damage outside of whatever
happened to his eye, right?
Hopefully it's just swelling and bruising and things.
and nothing broken.
But it didn't turn out that way.
We got 15 minutes of a really, really just one-sided beatdown of Vicentee Luka,
a very popular fighter.
And yeah, this, thank goodness, we'll say it again, thank goodness for Charles because this one left.
And Figuilla win, the fight wasn't exciting, but at least the fans liked it.
They kind of like that Figuilla won.
Thank goodness the last few fights had those results they did because, boy, that Luka fight,
that Luka lost, I just left a bad taste in a lot of people.
people's mouths. Yeah. The elbows, like he could have just elbowed Luca and the ribs.
Right. I think so. Right. And just didn't. So you're probably right. It was just like,
all right, I've already destroyed this man. I just ted aided him around too. Like this fight should
be over. His corner should have stopped this fight or the referee or the dog. Someone should have
frigging stopped it. Somebody should have stopped it. But nobody did. And I think he had a hard.
And although that doesn't win in the court of public opinion,
doesn't win in the court of excitement.
Yeah, he had a heart.
And I guess sometimes it's a good thing in this crazy sport of ours.
So we do a bonuses.
We're not going to make a big guessing game out of this.
Obviously, Charles Oliveira gets a bonus.
His 21st, most in UFC history.
This dude just rack it up over a million bonuses.
It's freaking sick.
Let me say a few more records here.
Shout out to guys like Mike Bond and Michael Carroll.
You've tracked of this stuff.
21 bonuses now.
I'm going to have to go off my own notes here.
Now he has 14 wins at Lightway.
I think he trailing only like Donald Seroni.
Oh no, sorry.
He surpassed.
He was tied with Soroni.
He's now in sole possession of third place.
Excuse me.
By the only Benile Daryush and Jim Miller.
That's crazy.
I think he's also now also holds the spot for third most UFC wins, period.
because remember he had all those lightweight wins.
This was win number 24.
He's actually tied with Neil Magny now, I think.
This is crazy, man.
I'm reading these numbers live and started just doing the math on my notes.
He extended his submission record.
You guys knew we had that.
A stoppage record.
This guy's just the best, man.
He's the best.
So he's so fun.
Give him the BMF title fight.
Enough is enough.
Vitor Petrino gets a performance bonus.
Yes.
While my Montel Jackson take apparently did not age well,
It did not age more.
It did not age more poorly than the Carolina Kovacovich has a chance to be Julia
Pallastry today because Jesus Christ, that was not the case.
And Julia Pallastry gets herself a performance bonus, good for her.
And the other bonus goes to, of course, be a mosquito who probably is the MVP of this card
to carry us through up until Charles Olivera.
Dude, she beat the shit of Reed Alex Giva.
that was nasty.
And for the first time,
AK,
and I'm sorry to say this into a live microphone.
I'm not going to say I'm excited about women's band-in-weight,
but I'm like,
you know,
I'm a little more okay with this.
I'm a little more okay with this
because she's fun and she's a killer,
and she's going to be a problem for a lot of women in this division.
And since I'm a mad of just terrible takes,
I'm going to make one right now.
be a mosquito is going to fight for a belt within 18 months.
My goodness me.
Tristan Gordetz was DMing me.
He's in the comments right now.
He's very excited, Mike, with what you just said.
First, let me say, Mike, you made a huge mistake with how you phrased that.
You said, your exact wording was, I'm not going to say I'm excited about women's bantamweight again.
I can now clip that perfectly.
If you just said, I'm not excited.
Thank you.
Thank you, Mike.
People.
Use the AI.
It's very easy.
Let's fix that.
Let's get that clip out there of Mike saying, I'm excited about women's bantampton weight again.
Big mistake, my best.
A rookie mistake for someone who's been on air for so long.
Yeah, no, no, no.
She looked great.
She looked great.
Came in with a ton of hype, of course.
She's won every single freaking medal and championship that you can win in Brazilian jutsu guys.
Look at her Wikipedia page.
She's gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold,
tournament champion, whatever.
And she looked good.
You know, she's taking the right pass.
She looked good.
Went through LFA.
Got some good wins in there.
Six and known the UFC.
You guys know me.
I'm Mr. Buzzkill.
I'm going to be like, let's just kind of like, they're going to have to push her now because,
again, she looked good.
So it's not like she's a like super young prospect that they can just feed cans the whole time.
She's very likely going to get a top 15 ban to wait in her next fight, whatever that means.
But please, can we temper our expectations?
She beat a fighter who I believe was on a two-fight losing streak.
I think that was the third straight loss for Alexeva.
And very likely, sorry, Alexaba will probably not be on the UFC roster much longer.
So again, she beat someone who's not even going to be on the roster.
for soon. Her other wins. I really have to look these up. I mean, listen, they're, in fairness,
they're against opponents she should be facing with similar levels of M.A experience. So I'm not going to,
I'm not going to like crap on that. That's how matchmaking should work. I'm not saying,
oh, that she should be in there with like someone who's like, you know, 10 and 4 in her second
you of MMA fight. Like that's silly to say. I'm not going to say that. But I will just help you
just tamper your expectations. If not a long road to the top of the Bantamweight division, I get it.
but let's see her face like I just say somewhat more difficult opponent next before we get crazy about it.
But yeah, she has all the tools, all the tools to fight for a title sooner rather than later.
All right, let's see.
Georgina Ramos.
Oh, wow.
She made her NBA debut on the Anderson Silva Chale Sun and Boxing card.
Damn.
Isn't that freaking?
I did not know that.
And she got a rear dig a choke in round one.
Then she fought her next several fights for LFA,
Chanel Butler, Fernando Araujo, who was two and four.
The Hope Chase, one was a weird one because it was like a DQ illegal kick type thing.
So Conce was a win, but not in like your typical form.
And then she fought Sierra Dinwoodle, who's four and oh just like her.
And she obliterated her and became the Women's Van Amity Champion over there.
So look, there's just not a lot going on.
I'm very curious to see how they matchmake for her.
Because it's not like being mesquite is like 22.
She's in her 30s.
So like the door is somewhat closing a little bit.
And do you just fly here?
Do you just throw in there with like Macy Chesa on like right away?
That this is where Macy Chasas is fallen.
That's a very difficult opponent for BIA.
It is.
Okay.
But do you just say like effort?
Let's see.
Like are you, let's look.
I can't believe we're doing this.
We should tell people, Mike, we should, we should, I don't want to break people's hearts.
You will not be with me.
You will not be with me and on to the next one on Sunday.
So, so yeah, we can do a little ought knowing, frankly, right now.
Okay.
Yeah. Let's take a gander.
Okay. Daria Zell.
Guys, we're looking at the UFC's top of team rankings right now.
Zelesiakova.
I'd be fine with that.
Yes, on Edwards.
Yep, I'd be fine with that.
Dude.
No.
Misha?
Do you hear Misha?
No.
She cannot beat Misha right now.
Really?
I will say that right now.
I know, I know, I'm sure, it's such an overused term now, but I know if I'm going to say Misha's washed.
She just has so much more experience.
She has so much more experience in actual MMA.
I don't know, man.
Against Yana?
But I don't think Yana Santos is bad.
You got to keep that mind.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But you're saying she was just very bad against Yanna.
That's what you're saying.
Misha.
Yeah.
It's led her to question whether she should fight again.
I just, ah, the experience, I,
MMA is just such a different game.
I know Bia has looked very solid in MMA so far.
Myra Boehina Silva?
Is she coming back to Bantamate?
What's going on with her?
I mean, she's ranked number 10.
Oh my God, she is.
Goodness me.
Yeah, I don't know, man.
I'm kind of not going higher than 1514.
I think we've got it.
I think it's Zelas Nikova or Jocelyn Edwards.
I think that's it.
And I think Jocelyn's booked.
I mean, I could be crazy.
I mean, you know, I should know these things.
No, she's not.
If you really want to, if you really want to send,
you know who you put her in there with.
You put her in there with Priscilla Kachara.
Oh, God.
Yeah, she's perfect.
That's, that's where you go.
It's not ranked, but that's, that's where you go.
Oh, God.
Dude.
You know what?
You've done it.
That's it.
That's what she's for.
It's Priscilla Kachua.
She is the most valuable women's fighter on the roster for this exact reason.
There we go.
Because she will be there to get absolutely annihilated and she'll look tremendous doing it.
That's it.
That's it.
That's the pick.
You're welcome, matchmakers.
I just want to make sure they don't.
I know Bia was at American Top Dean.
I don't think Priscilla Kachura has been an American top.
Okay.
And even so, they would probably still.
Sure.
They'd probably still make that fight.
American talk to you'd be like, come on.
Just do it.
It's okay.
Yeah, that's the fight.
And do it soon.
Like, this is something we need to just do right away.
Throw it at MSG, do it in December.
That fight.
B&E's fight again for the end of the year.
If we can make it happen.
You know what's better than the one big thing?
Two big things.
Exactly.
The new iPhone 17 Pro on TELUS is five-year rate plan price lock.
Yep, it's the most powerful iPhone ever, plus more pieces.
of mind with your bill over five years. This is big. Get the new iPhone 17 Pro at tellus.com
slash iPhone 17 Pro on select plans conditions and exclusions apply. What other things? Oh, do we
I think we'll get questions about all this stuff, but there are some other like really cool
moments. We'll run down like sort of the the rest of the results, so to speak. Yes. Because some things
will be remembered and others certainly will not. Well, like this was this was a weird night for
multiple reasons.
It was.
We've only gotten some of them.
The whole main card actually was kind of memorable for like so many weird things outside
of fighting.
Mario Pinto.
Can we talk about Mario Pinto?
Promo of the year.
That was, I feel so stupid.
I was dying.
It was so incredible.
I feel so stupid because for people, any of people who didn't see, he did this whole bit.
He's from Portugal.
He trains out of London, England.
But I completely forgotten all this.
I don't watch the contender series consistently.
So I think I only watched this fight.
Like I went back and watched this fight.
I don't know if I watched his post-fight scrum.
But he did this whole bit with bisming after where he's like, oh, I don't speak English, brother.
Then he's, you know, he's a Portuguese.
He speaks Portuguese.
Did a lot of big Portuguese promo.
And then joked like, oh, I've been practicing my English, so I want to cut a little thing.
And then went out of very long, like extra like 90 seconds, thinking his team in perfect English.
With a British accent, I think he was raised in London.
So it was just hilarious.
And for people like me who are dumb who don't keep up with him in the Contender Series.
He's like, I was totally fooled.
I totally fooled at first.
And I thought that was great.
The performance is great.
I know there's a lot.
I always joke about not mixing the martial arts, but technically he did it.
Technically, he did the right thing.
He did not try and strike with Juntaxitini's really.
He only used, like, wrestling and grappling and won the fight.
So that was a huge moment for him.
And there was a lot of hype for him coming out of Contender series.
And I thought this was a great showcase for him, that he's not just a, that he is versatile
and, like, not just a guy with some real power in his hands.
He's a real heavyweight power.
But, you know, one was some guile here and then just made us all laugh after.
How come Khan awfully didn't get a bonus, A.K., because in today's modern M&A, he did everything right.
He truly did everything right to win a fight because he was about to get his leg ripped off.
And they just, like, egregiously cheated.
I mean, so obviously and egregiously cheated, grabbing the fence over and over again.
Then there's one real fence grab, and he was trying to really sink it in.
And then Khan just was like, all right, bet.
I'm going to reverse position and get to finish myself.
And then he gets booed out of the building.
Mark Goddard is sitting there just watching it.
Watching it happen.
He's just like, good job, guys.
And no penalty, no stoppage of the action.
Not even a, hey, don't grab the fence.
None of that.
None of that.
One of the cameras got a beautiful shot.
If you guys watch it, go back and watch it.
One of the ringside cameras is literally on the section of the cage.
So this is, there's a camera that got this view.
this view right here of Khan Offley's hand
gripping the cage
if there was like any sort of replay review
he would have just been caught dead to rights
like if there was a replay review
like yeah you grab the freaking cage
I mean Khan needed this
you know he was 0 and 2 02
he lost the ultimate fighter finale
and then lost to I think Nymov
you know tough opponent tough opponent but
this would have this would have been it for him
I think if he hadn't won and I was a little
surprised like Ricardo I know he can grapple
but he's shown a lot of stuff in the feet too
I actually really and grappling is one of
of con's like big strengths so I really thought
Ricardo was going to come out and he's still a lot of flying stuff.
He still does.
And I thought he's going to do some flying stuff.
I thought that's what this matchup was designed for because Khan,
respectfully, not like the most athletic guy.
But no,
I wanted to do jujitsu and didn't work out because,
yeah, Khan cheated his ass off.
And congrats con for doing it.
You ain't got caught.
That's W.
I don't blame.
Again, when I say these things,
when I say like the cheating and stuff,
I don't blame the fighters at all.
Not one bit.
Every single fighter should do this.
every single fighter should grab the fence.
They,
because they will not be called ever.
And if they do, it's just like,
hey, don't grab the fence and they'll just let it happen.
And then, Jesus Christ,
that wasn't even like the weirdest moment of the main card,
okay,
because,
uh,
no,
excuse me,
this is the featured prelim.
Handgate.
We have Derek Midder 2.0 in Lucas Almeada.
Everybody's,
God,
all the rumor in you,
and you,
know, it's, it's just insane.
Dude fights with a legit broken hand.
You could see it.
People had close-ups.
Even Michael Aswell was like, yeah, man, I saw something was wrong.
Everybody flooded my DMs, say this dude had a broken hand.
And then the fight happens, and not a solitary right hand was thrown.
Not a single one as Michael Aswell is just beating the holy shit out of this dude.
Tough scenes, man.
tough scenes.
The Brazilian Commission is,
yeah,
Brazilian commission is going to take a little bit of a beating for this one.
Yeah, we saw like, we, Mike, we see this happen sometimes.
People speculate the way in.
A lot of it's like staff infection.
People go like, oh, this look, I looked like a mark or something.
Like they're worried about staff.
We've seen this happen a lot.
That one's like a bit harder because I always feel like people trained to get weird marks over their bodies all the time.
So I think I always saw people like, man, don't judge on this picture.
don't judge on this whatever 15 second clip with the guy stepped me to the scale we don't know what's going on
this hand injury was clear as effing day everyone was talking about this was reading everyone uh i think
he mentioned like everyone just knew everyone down in in rio knew that this that this hand was actually
injured um uh so people were posting the line some line movement i think he went from like a minor underdog
i think he was like plus 120 or almost like a pickum plus 120 something like that plus 130 maybe
and i think by the time the fight rolled around it was almost double it was like plus 250 underdog some of that
So this was really bad.
This is coming off of the Anka Lai of controversy.
People's, I think Cormier came out and said, like, yeah, yeah, oh, we knew this guy
had a busted up rib.
Like, this is, this is wild stuff, man.
And I always tell people like, I don't bet on M.A for the little sharp for a reason, maybe
a couple bucks here and there.
But this stuff is like shady as hell.
And I don't know if the consumer needs to be protected.
I don't know if the fans be protected.
Of course, the fighter, why is the fighter being allowed to step in there with the broken
right hand?
Let's protect this guy.
Because he got beaten up real bad.
I mean, he got, he got pummeled, man.
I mean, and more than one.
And it was a late stoppage.
So, like, this was just awful, awful week for, for Lucas Almeida.
That was Herzog, wasn't it?
I think so, yeah.
What is, I said they're watching Jason Herzog watch this happen.
I'm like, what the fuck else do you need to see for you to stop this fight?
The refereeing was, was horrific tonight.
This might have been, this might have been the worst night of refereeing of 2025.
Like, I just can't believe that this is the norm.
and it's like acceptable.
It's absolutely insane.
Jafel Filio, nasty Camor over Clayton Carpenter.
That was really nice.
I'd be a little pissed if I was him for not getting a bonus.
Patrino's not goes to ask you.
Go ahead.
Yeah, I feel like a palestri.
Oh, wait, so you're saying you think she did deserve.
You did deserve.
Oh, yeah.
I would have given it to it.
Oh, okay, okay.
Usually I'd just give another bonus.
Like, yeah, I don't want to give a fifth bonus or whatever.
Even Lacerda.
We couldn't give a Lacerda, a fucking bonus for, excuse my language guy.
I don't know why I lost it there for a second.
I'm so sorry.
We'll bleep that out.
We'll bleep that out in that when we post this on the podcast.
No, we won't.
Absolutely won't.
No, we definitely won't.
For submitting a guy who gave it eight pounds overweight.
I know it wasn't the most exciting submission.
It was like a really like he was on his back.
He was actually taking a little bit of ground and pound.
And then suddenly boom, like tap out of nowhere.
There's a little bit of confusion.
Like, whoa, what happened?
He tapped.
Lacerna was saying he thinks he might have broken his arm.
But you got a kid.
There's a guy 50 Gs for even agreeing to this fight.
Like I know he got half.
half of Olivera's purse, but I mean, how much could that be?
Simon Olivares coming off, is on a contender series contract.
That was like, yeah, dude.
That was crazy.
Yeah.
And by the way, the Jafel Filio fight, someone just mentioned this in the chat.
Let me pull it up.
Mr. Maya, the referee, dude, tap twice.
Like a clear tap.
And then like 20 seconds later, he tapped again.
And they let it go on.
Dude's poor arm, getting ripped out of its socket, dude.
Like, it's just crazy.
Great point.
At least this area, I got 5K of the first.
That's too real.
That's too real.
That's too real, lazy.
Oh, my God, dude.
That's wild.
That's hilarious, honestly, to see that.
What else happened?
I lost the whole damn screen.
I'm pulling it back out.
Hang tight.
The results from good old,
MAPFinding.com.
Great website.
Petrito, we talked about that knockout,
B. a Mosquito, awesome performance.
Lucas Rocha,
gets the win over Stuart Nicoli.
That's the one fight that was just like a normal fight
that we're probably just not going to talk about again.
And it was good.
It was a great performance by Lucas Rocha, by the way.
Like great performance.
We just won't,
just with all the other weirdness and stuff that happened.
Like, it's just going to be kind of be swept away.
But good for him.
I hope we look back on this as like a run
because that's very, very talented guy, very talented,
very talented flyweight fighter.
So, but yeah, it wasn't weird.
It was pretty clear cut.
Everything else around it was just chaos.
Yes.
All right.
Let's take some questions from the peeps.
Probably be here for like 10 minutes or so if we get out of here.
Lies you to Mike,
you're on the beat,
and we're so back.
You have to be.
If you have any hope for this division,
you have to, like, be on,
because it's not like they haven't tried to add people
to the Bantaway division over the last couple years.
Like we said, we got Nora Connolly,
we got Zolaazzozniakova,
we got, oh my gosh, I know,
I don't forget.
Eileen Prez kind of interesting, right?
She kind of brought some life.
She's been doing good.
She's been doing good.
But none of these are names that we were like,
oh, man, I can't wait to see this person there with Kayla
or Mananune has come back and point this person
or whoever else there's at the top.
Like, we're like,
we're just kind of happy that they had names it.
But Bia is legitimately has a lot of hype, has what I always like to say.
Like I love to see fighters with an A plus skill.
I think like having one A plus skill can take you so far.
And there's no question on the ground in this division.
I don't think there's anyone that can handle her.
And that's awesome.
I want to pull up this tweet that I saw earlier.
And Jed would be really mad at this tweet.
I saw this.
Jamie P.
Oh, boy.
Share apps.
This is what she tweeted out at 541.
via who is who they told you McKenzie Dern was she's really that bitch okay that's
that's not you that's that's not me that's the tweet that's the tweet I was like ooh that is
damn probably not like terribly wrong but who knows man we'll see might be a UFC world
champion like it could happen so what a time RS 40 interesting question
which career would you have preferred Charles or BJ such a good question such a good question I
I know everyone's going to say Charles.
You know what, RS, let me throw a poll right now.
Let me throw a poll right now.
That's such a great question.
Let me tell a poll.
I'm already predicting, of course, heavily leading towards Do Bronx.
I mean, he just won.
BJ at this moment, the last few years, hasn't been the best.
So let me fill those up real quick.
Mike Wallam, what's your first sort of like, you know, we'll dive deeper.
What immediately was the first thing you thought?
Bolivara.
It's Oliver.
Yeah, it's Olivera.
I mean, the downfall we thought like could have.
been there and who knows like what I think you would have probably beat fazeve too i think you probably
would have won this fight but it was a little scarier the taporia knockout made us feel bad and
bj's kind of that one fighter that started making us feel bad when every time he was booked it was
just like used to be wow that's the best fighter in the world to wow i don't want to see this guy fight
ever again and then tony ferguson became that guy and he got to win and then charles oliver gets
just obliterated by Iliate Tuporia, real, real bad.
And we thought this, like, this could be it.
Like, this is the fall of the cliff.
And then he just runs over Gamrod.
Like, I feel like BJ had a, at one point, he was the best fighter on planet Earth.
And I don't know if we ever really got to that point where Olivera was the best fighter on planet Earth.
But it got to, at least for me, the way I view Charles Olivera, it took him getting colded by Iliate topor.
for me to take him out of my pound for pound rankings altogether.
Like, that's a long time and a lot of losses this guy's had.
And I still kept him in my top 20 pound for pound because of the strength of schedule,
because of the wins, because of all the accolades, what he did as champion.
Like, his resume is so insane.
It's so insane.
And what BJ accomplished was,
impressive and incredible. But if we really look at the
resumes, if we really look at the wins, I think Charles
is better, man. I think he's got a better resume than BJ Penn overall.
Right now, I mean, you have to, you have to include
the end of BJ's career in this. And right now, it's
got to be Chuckie. And I want to just keep it in cage.
Again, the stuff that is happening. Yeah, I've done the same thing. Of course.
It's, it's just in cage is real bad. When you're talking about this,
the end of B.D. Because all the other stuff, you guys know what's gone on his personal life.
Like, it's just, it's just a tragedy, right? It's not, it's not funny. Like, I know it sounds absurd.
I'm sure people have read the stories. Like, oh, this is like, he just lost his damn mind.
Like, it's sad, man. It's a real sad story. So we're going to put that aside. We're just on
this, you know, brutal, windlass streak you had. We talk about, like, BJ's career ending in such a bad way.
I almost wish you had, like, a Jed Michue here, you know, huge BJ guy. I'm a huge BJ guy,
too, but Jed's up there. Even like a New York Rick, I think would be a great. New York Creek's a huge
big guy. But I will, I will be here.
hear in their spirit to sort of try and argue the BJ side because, I mean, Mike, you said it
right there. There was a time BJ was considered maybe pound for pound, the greatest fighter
in the world, right? There is a mythos around BJ which, which again, Charles would just never
have, but it's a different era. There's a different level of coverage, right? We have, we have so
much coverage, so much footage of Olivera, so much high definition footage of Charles Olivera.
BJ's, a lot of BJ's career. It's all on camera, but it's just like, it feels like it happened
in that time when, you know, frankly, the.
the eyes of the world were not exactly on the UFC,
but perhaps it's a nice way to put it.
He was part of the boom period, for sure.
But there's weird stuff in there, like a fight with Leotamachita.
Right? There's weird stuff.
Rumble at the Rock, the legendary Rumble at the Rock, right?
And this is stuff that you mentioned to people now, like,
again, it's mythical.
It almost doesn't feel, it doesn't feel real anymore.
And Charles doesn't have that.
But that's the power of myth-making, right?
That doesn't mean that Charles' accomplishments art is great.
We just looking back, you know, we can look back.
at BJ's career in such a
huge, huge, maybe outsized way.
Maybe I'm, again, romanticizing it too much.
So that, like for me, would be the argument for BJ
is, like you said, at one point, maybe the best
has an influence on MMA that probably, you know,
Charles will never match, right?
And then again, that doesn't mean BJ is better
because I would also say Hoys Gracie has a bigger influence
than, you know, so-and-so fighters will ever match.
But, I mean, there's a lot of fighters, I would say,
who are actually better MMA fighters than Hoys Gracie.
So more influence,
I was going to say more beloved at his peak, Mike, but I don't know if that's true.
Because Charles has reached this point.
Like you said, we love superstars.
We love seeing people rise to the top.
But we love resilience too, right?
Mike, we love those guys, like you said, who even at the twilight stages of their careers
can still deliver those incredible moments.
And BJ lost that so badly and so quickly.
and it was so painful to watch him near the end.
And we're not having that experience with Charles yet.
I hope we never do.
I hope if the losses start to come, he walks away at the right time.
But right now, we're just in the thick of it.
It's a beautiful experience.
And I said this on Twitter, just watching the man grapple.
If you're a sports fan at all, watching the man grapple is just one of life's free pleasures.
It is absolutely incredible to watch.
So I'm making a case for BJ.
Of course, I would probably pick Charles Oliver, but, you know, recancy bias and all that.
Yeah, I mean, just kind of look at the run, really.
Yeah, the Machita fight happened.
Then he beats Henzo Gracie.
And then he's back in the UFC.
And he loses to George St. Pierre.
It's a pretty good loss, right?
Gets finished by Matt Hughes, that he submits Jen's Pulver.
And then he fights Joe Stevenson for the vacant lightweight title.
And he beat the hell out of George's not even close.
Yeah.
Joe Stevenson.
was like one of the one of the dudes off the ultimate fighter that was like all right this guy is
probably going to be a world champion at some point and bj treated him like a child wasn't
close unbelievable wasn't close uh the finish against sean shirk was unbelievable the flying knee
she's so sick dude and then he goes up to welterweight and tries to win his second belt and
gets finished by george sapierre in the rematch and then we're thinking okay maybe maybe he's done
and then he goes out there and just treats Kenny Florian
like he's like a college level bench player.
And this is when Kenny Florea was out like finishing dudes in a minute,
just having incredible performances.
And then the Diego Sanchez win.
We're like, and this is not like, again,
if we're taking like the out of the cage stuff out of it.
this was this was like really good Diego Sanchez this was this was like you cannot kill this guy
and do you remember the narrative going in was yes Diego was the underdog but they're like oh
Diego has like endless cardio BJ was always criticized for like oh he doesn't look like a guy who
takes care of himself if it goes to the fourth or fifth round what's going to happen and they thought
like oh Diego's a perfect guy Diego's not stock he's going to wear him out he has a chance no
yeah didn't happen that was just like one way trafficking uh and then the frankie had your fight
happens the first one. And it was the first bet I ever placed on an MMA fight. I bet on Frankie
Edgar and won the bet. It didn't deserve it because BJ DeV Penn 100% won that fight. And then
the rematch happened and Frankie beat BJ very convincingly in Boston, Massachusetts. I was in the
building for that. And then BJ beats, like I say this with respect, the ghost of Matt Hughes
finishes him in like 20 seconds. And then it's just no wins again. That was the last.
last win. That's crazy. That's crazy to think. His last one was the kind of weird trilogy about with Hughes. So strange.
Draw with Fitch, loses to Diaz, loses to Rory, gets finished by Frankie, gets finished by Yair,
loses a decision to Dennis Siever. That's when we're like, all right, no more. We have to be done with this.
And then he beat, that he has to go in there with Ryan Hall, okay. He went in there with the legend Ryan Hall.
And this is the one fight that I think all of us unanimously were like, okay, if Beech is going to
fight like this is I'm okay with this because Ryan Hall might might stretch him a little bit he's not
gonna like knock him out and boy he didn't just did Ryan Hall things he'll hooked him one and then
the Clay Gweed a fight and then that was it so yeah man at the end if you look at this Charles
olivera has more bonuses than BJ Penn as UFC wins and it's almost double yeah and BJ Penn is a
sub 500 UFC fighter now 12 13 1 it's tough it's tough case to
But when you were going over those highs, though, Mike, I was like, can I change my answer to BJ?
You're going over those highs?
I was like, yeah, I remember.
Like, what a time, man, what a time.
But yeah, if we are talking about career, which, of course, I think longevity has to be a factor.
I guess I'll tell you right now that, Mike, the poll is very heavily.
DeBronx, 89% Charles Olivera.
So, you know.
Charles was never pounded by like DJ.
But, right.
He was in our top, I believe in our ranking, he made top five.
I think he's probably like top three.
before the Islam fight.
Was he top three?
I don't know.
We had a long stretch here with like Kamaru, Izzy,
Francis was in there.
I'd have to go back and look.
I don't know if he made top three.
But I think I had him three for a while just because he was the division he was in.
Definitely not in a combo for one though like BJ was in his day.
But it was a different time.
Very different era, very different era.
Yeah.
Trevor's a big BJ guy.
Get it.
Yeah, good.
But I know what he's saying.
Ha ha.
Good job.
Thanks, Devin.
That means multiple things.
Does it?
Blue Jays?
Yes.
Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays.
Yeah,
the Charles is never pumped.
Again,
different errors.
Yeah.
All that.
Lightweight now is much different than lightweight then.
So,
yeah.
Let's go to Ross Safari.
Did you see the pre-fight package of Volodin,
absolutely colding a teenager in youth Russian karate with a rolling thunder kick?
Never seen that before.
What is going on?
You know who else has never seen that before?
Me, because I never saw that.
Wow.
Maybe I'll have to look for it.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Send us the clip on Twitter, man.
Yeah, we'll take.
I'm sorry, I'm totally lost on what this referring to.
But thank you guys. Thank you for that.
Lazy bed. Apparently, I've missed many via mosquito tidbits, but this is the last one.
With this victory, she became the first Guinness World Record holder to compete and win in the UFC.
What?
How about that?
What? I assume she's the Guinness World Record holder for like most medals won or something?
Hold on. Hold on.
Lazy bet.
Lazy bet's a bit of a funny character.
I don't know if he's just trolling us.
But most individual gold medals won.
I believe by a female, maybe not even.
I should know.
Guy wrote about this.
Guillermo Cruz, the Brazilian Beeskis has been on site, by the way,
all in his city of Rio, which he owns.
He's the real king of Rio.
Oh, Mike, we didn't even shout it to Guy, by the man.
So read all the key stuff.
Yeah, watch the video he's getting for us.
Like, did we not, did we even talk about the retirement?
Oh, yes, Jose Aldo.
Like, I mean, he was retired.
He retired after the Zhappi fight.
Like, he was retired.
But we always say this stuff.
We're like, man, we said it was Anderson Silva.
Like, oh, man, how much does it suck that someone so didn't get their moment to like really retire in front of a crowd and lay their gloves down?
And, oh, he gave it.
They gave his moment that that was so cool.
I mean, it's probably not a long trip for him.
That's probably, oh, yeah.
I mean, Jose's here.
Let's just do it.
But, damn.
I feel like on I say this all time and I don't want to be like a jerk every single time that happens.
But I it's just not maybe maybe your taste are different.
I am not a fan of Michael Viz being on Colorado commentary.
I'm just not.
However, I will say this.
I don't like how he handled the John Gooden thing.
Even if you thought he was right.
I thought it was just like super unprofessional to be like basically say like shut the
fuck up and let me talk on the broadcast.
It was just super uncomfortable.
And you just can't do that. You can't do that.
Save that for the podcast. Do that shit.
Bring John on. You guys can work it out there.
Just don't do that.
Having said that, I actually thought Bisbing with Gooden for a while, like wasn't bad.
He wasn't bad.
Now, anytime you talk about rules and things like that, Bisming has no clue what's going on.
To me, the moment Michael Bisming really fell off the cliff tonight was when Josea
Caldo came out and got his retirement moment.
You want to know why?
Because there's only one person who's probably going to feel the sting of that.
And it's Michael Bisbing.
Because he never got that.
He never got it.
He goes out and gets obliterated by Kelvin Gastilum.
He calls it a career, right?
And they're in like London or Manchester like a month later.
And Bisbing's there.
And we were all saying like, man, they should just brought Bisbing out to his music.
Have him come out to blur.
Do the song too.
have the moment, drop the gloves in the cage, and he never got that moment.
And he's been talking about like, ah, it would have been cool that.
But now he has to sit there while doing color commentary and watch Jose Aldo after retiring
in Canada, five months prior, come out and get the moment in front of his whole crowd.
And even Mike said, like, man, it would have been cool if I got that moment.
And you could tell like, it's like, golly, how come I never got that?
But yeah, I just, I don't love Bisman on color, man.
Like, I think he's fine on the desk.
Put him on desk.
He's got some takes.
Then you can start fired off takes and do that stuff.
But like, it's tough, man.
It's tough.
Although the two-man booths with Bisbing, I actually liked better.
He's not arguing with people for airtime.
But, yeah, tough sense.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, you know, listen, he's in the moment.
He probably felt exactly what you're thinking, Mike.
And just had to comment.
He's on a live mic.
He's on a live mic.
He's on a live mic.
But at that point, he's been doing commentary for what, four or five hours at that point.
But it was, it really, outside of that, really a lovely moment.
You know, really a lovely moment.
I hope the UFC thinks about doing more stuff like this when it's possible.
I love that.
Like I said, I know they did today because it's convenient.
He's there and they're doing a show and, you know, what a celebration of a Brazilian
and May that tried to have tonight.
Brazilians, I think, oh, I'm so stupid.
I did the math earlier and I totally forgot the number.
It was a winning record for Brazilians versus the world today.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
So 7 and 5, not counting Lacerda, 7.
07.0.
There are both Brazilians.
Yeah, 7 and 5.
Really, this should be 7 and 4.
We should also not count the fight where one fighter didn't have two functioning hands,
I think would also be.
But either way, still, still they came out on top.
7 and 4, 7 and 3, something like that.
So 7 wins for the Brazilians out of 11 fights that were Brazilian versus,
Brazilian versus not
Brazil. So there you go. Not too bad.
Could have been better. Could have been better. It wasn't like a
dominant night, but that's fine.
It wasn't Perth. It wasn't New Zealand. That's for sure.
We will leave you
with this one stat.
Charles Olivero is now tied for the
most finishes in UFC Pride Strike Force
WEC history with Mirko
Krocop.
Isn't that crazy?
Sorry, I'm saying again? Sorry, sorry. I was a
flying for the most Charles Olivera with this finish tied Miracle Crow Cop for the most finishes
in the combination of UFC Pride Strike Force and WEC man we got old school to do that up to
talk to crocob talks of BJ jeez Louise what a great stat that's a social post on mba fighting
dot com I believe that has Blaine Henry written all over it. Blaine if yeah terrific
Gitterd graphic yeah that's terrific graphic damn fun night fun night for us and all the Charles
fans man yes
AK will be back tomorrow.
He's going to do on to the next one.
He's going to run it solo because I'll be traveling back home to South Carolina.
Got to go pick up the dog.
He's missing me like crazy.
But yeah, that's happening.
Another cool thing happening tomorrow.
I'm dropping, we're dropping the, I believe we're dropping the Yuri Barhajka interview,
which I'm very excited about.
I got to talk to the man, the myth, the legend for about 20 minutes.
And it's everything you hoped it would be in more.
because he's Yuri Parashka.
Dude's an absolute, he's just so fun.
Can we get Montel training with him?
Montel Jackson, you know what?
If he trains as Yuri Prasca,
I think he can turn things around, Mike.
Whatever it takes.
Go to the Czech Republic.
Go live in the Czech Republic for the next year.
Learn from Yuri.
Whatever weird shit, Yeri is doing,
you do it too, all right?
You sit in the darkness for three days
and you'd like it, Montel Jackson, okay?
And maybe we can get you in that title back.
Montel, if I don't see a beautiful,
video of you swimming under frozen ice for three and a half minutes or longer, we're going to have
some problems. We're going to have some problems. Go find Yuri, seek him out and make it happen.
Because Yuri is an absolute madman. And hearing him talk about the fight with Khalil Roundtree is one of
my favorite things I've ever done in the history of covering the sport. That will be dropping,
I believe, tomorrow. I also talked to Gable Stephson earlier this week before his DBX debut. So that was
very interesting. So that'll be coming this week.
Jet will be back this week. We'll have
all hands on deck next week. It's an
exciting time here for us at M.A.fighting.com.
Have a great night, everybody. Thank you
for watching for A.K. I am Mike Heck.
We are out of here. And again,
UFC execs, if you do not give
us Max Oliver versus Charles Olivera, too,
I'm being very mad at you.
Tisks, tisks. Good night, everybody.
