bfa.com slash newprosmedia. Hey guys, are you ready for some money rehab?
Wall Street has been completely upended by an unlikely player, GameStop.
And should I have a 401k? You don't do it?
No, I never do.
You think the whole world revolves around you and your money.
Well, it doesn't.
Charge for wasting our time.
I will take a check.
Like an old school check.
You recognize her from anchoring on CNN, CNBC, and Bloomberg.
The only financial expert you don't need a dictionary to understand.
Nicole Lappin.
Is the stimulus check all run out or just not doing it for you?
Are you looking to make a little extra cash?
I mean, who isn't?
That's how money rehabber Danny has been feeling.
And he called me with this question.
Hey, Nicole. It's Danny. I've been trying to find a way to make a little extra money on the side.
I tried some dog walking and a couple of other different things, but it was surprisingly hard
to find work with that. I also have a full-time job, so I don't have a ton of time for like a
full-time side hustle, but I was wondering, what can I do to make a little extra money?
like a full-time side hustle, but I was wondering, what can I do to make a little extra money?
Danny, Danny boy. Yes, Danny, I love that you're looking to add in some other streams of income.
Get after it, sir. I love a side hustle. I really, really do, but they tend to come with a few startup costs, and they're often time-intensive and
labor-intensive. So if you don't feel like you have a lot of time for a side hustle and you
don't want to incubate a new business or try to test out if your hobby can become a jobby and you
just want money, here are five strange ways that you can do that. Number one, rent your tent.
We know that we can list our places on Airbnb, right?
But you can also rent out a plot of land, a big backyard if you have one, a basement,
a yurt, or even a tent.
I read about someone who made $1,600 a month renting out a tent and camping gear.
who made $1,600 a month renting out a tent and camping gear.
You can also rent out your car using apps like Truro or Getaround, or even rent out your parking spot using Spot Hero or Pavement.
You'll get cash for your parking spot,
which could actually be a lot if you live near a stadium, let's say,
or in a transportation hub.
Number two, get your grant on.
There are tons of grants out there for freelancers,
contract workers, gig economy workers. If you want to cast a wide net, I would check out some
of the grant aggregators like grants.gov or grantspace.org. I would try to be as specific
as possible there. There is a grant for every little niche, and the more specific you are about
yours, the less competition. There are also specialized grants, too, if you just want to
cut to the chase. Like, if you're a musician, head to Grammy.com. You don't need one in order to go
there. If you're a writer, check out Penn.org. If you're a comedian, check out ComedyGivesBack.com.

you got for your birthday that smell like Febreze? Sell them already. There are tons of online
retailers, of course, that make it really easy to sell your stuff. You know the basic ones,
but there is Depop or The RealReal or Tradesy for selling clothes, Facebook Marketplace or LetGo
for selling furniture, and honestly, there's no harm in good old eBay. Just before you decide
to post anything, watch out for fees. Lots of these companies will take a ginormous cut of your sale,
so be sure to read the fine print, especially if you are consigning something or selling a
high-end item. You can negotiate those fees or your cut. I have done this before, and the worst
thing they can say is no. But often, if they really want that thing, they'll hook it up.
But often if they really want that thing, they'll hook it up.
Number four, sell your stuff.
You can sell what mama gave you, your hair, if you cut long pretty locks off, blood plasma,
even your eggs or sperm.
Really.
I did a whole piece on the economics of sperm banks. It is fascinating.
It is also the only bank where you
don't get your deposit back, but I'm... For us ladies, we can also sell our eggs for anywhere
between $4,000 and $8,000. There are companies that you can go to in order to sell your eggs,
but I would start by reaching out to a fertility clinic at your local hospital if you are interested
in doing it. I feel much better about you being in their hands. Same goes with sperm banks. Talk
to your doctor about what recommendations they have on where the best place is to do the deed.
But I will tell you from freezing my own eggs, it is really, really taxing on your body. There are weeks of shots. It is not a fun or
pleasurable experience like the boys have it. Although you will have some kids potentially,
so details. But yeah, I mean, it's true. You could potentially have some kids that will
reach out to you after doing their 23andMe down the road. So just be prepared for that. Number five,
be part of a clinical trial. You could make big money by participating in a research trial.
Of course, there are some clinical trials that are a little invasive, so I don't expect you to
say yes to everything and you shouldn't. But every so often, there's a golden opportunity
where you can make thousands of dollars in a clinical study just for sleeping. True story, you do that anyway. You might as well
get paid for it. There's not one great website for finding clinical trials. Maybe you could
create one if you want a super duper side hustle for extra money. But the best way to find a study
is to just Google clinical trials in insert your city.
I'd highly recommend only signing up for studies run by hospitals, universities, or research institutions that you know and trust.
I did this while I was in college to make extra money.
It was back in the day when they put up the flyers on the bulletin boards and there were those little dangly pieces of paper with phone numbers on it. They were mostly really easy. I filled out
a bunch of surveys or watched different things and gave my recommendations. There was one kind
of weird time where they put a cap on my head and put gel inside, but I think I'm doing just fine.
I mean, you could also do beta testing. I just sent my new book out to a group of beta testers
to get their feedback and their notes.
They did it so super fast and they got paid.
So DM me if you wanna be involved in my next book
because I have a lot more coming.
For today's tip, you can take straight to the bank.
Get your Marie Kondo on.
Do a little inventory of what you
have, your backyard, your old clothes, your notes from class in college, your sperm, maybe, and think
about what you can sell for some extra money today. Money Rehab is a production of iHeartMedia.
