Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur, pitching to investors,
or a C-suite looking to take the charge, your style is your secret weapon.
In today's episode, I'm sharing five proven style secrets
that will not only slim your silhouette, amplify your confidence,
and elevate your professional presence.
From the perfect fit to color psychology,
these tips will help you command presence
in any room that you walk in.
Let's dive in.
You're listening to More Style,

and transform your influence.
If you don't know me, my name is Celeste Moore.
I'm your certified image professional.
And I'm here to help entrepreneurs, C-suites, celebrities
help discover and master their own unique style
so that they can truly command presence in any room that they walk in.
Did you know that research shows that in less than three seconds,
we're making judgments about someone else
from 55% of the way that they are presenting themselves,
38% is tone or body language,
and 7% is actually what we say.
So that is a huge number to keep in mind that 55% is the way that we look.
What else does your style say about you?
This isn't about hiding flaws. It's about showcasing your best self and building a
lasting impression through your personal brand. Today, I'm going over the five proven style
secrets. The first one is monochromatic dressing. Colors fit and more, so stay tuned.
I want to jump right into monochromatic dressing. What is monochromatic dressing? If you don't know,
it is dressing head to toe in the same color. Take, for example, blue. There's different shades
of blue. This doesn't have to be the exact color, but very similar. It can be all different shades
of dark blue, medium blue, powder blue, green blue. You get the picture. Monochromatic dressing
lengthens and slims all at the same time. The eye is drawn from up and down in a vertical aspect,
which is naturally slimming. When we see the vertical lines of a silhouette, it's lengthening
and slimming all at the same time. But a key element here is to add dimension when wearing
monochromatic colors because it adds interesting features. It's not boring. Adding dimension is key
here. Let's talk about why texture is key. Combining fabrics such as silk, leather, wool adds depth and
sophistication to monochromatic looks. Let's talk about color palette suggestions when wearing
monochromatic dressing. Cool tones such as navy or gray, charcoal gray, add a sleek and modern vibe.
They're also great for business. Neutral tones such as beige or creams are often polished and
a more approachable look. But remember, keep in mind, when wearing lighter colors, that's going
to bring everything forward. So if you're looking to slim, I would stay with the medium to darker
tones. If you're looking to lengthen, then it's okay to wear these. Bold tones, such as deep
emerald, red, they make a bold statement. Naturally, black will be slimming because it's a receding
color. But you can also use colors such as navy, mahogany, burgundy, deep forest green, charcoal,
and even chocolate brown. If you've had your 4x4 color analysis, then you'll understand that
wearing your darker core colors are going to be best for a monochromatic look. A little added tip
here, monochromatic outfits photograph really well. They make them ideal for professional photos
or brand shoes, even social media profiles. The number two secret is transformative shoes that
lengthen and lift. For women, the power of nude or neutral colors that match the skin
tone to create a seamless look and a seamless line. For men, sleek pointed dress shoes elongate the
foot and enhance proportions. Okay, here's a practical tip. Pair your shoes with a tailored
pant that either hits just above the ankle or the pant hits right at the top of the shoe so there's
no break. This actually elongates the leg and creates a beautiful silhouette. I'm going to put
a do not do if you're looking to lengthen. Do not wear a square front toe. This actually chops off
the look of the end of your body and shortens you. And so if you're looking to lengthen,
Imagine the seam you want to keep at a point or at best a round, but not a square toe.
The secret three is colors, contour, and hair.
Choosing colors that complement your undertone are paramount.
For warm undertones, choose rusts or browns or peaches or deep olives.
For cool undertones, stick to jewel tones like sapphires and emeralds and burgundy.
But also, there's going to be soft roses and baby blues and soft pinks for those summers.
I want to focus on what I call the viral V effect.
The reason why color analysis is so important is because we have the vital V.
It's literally from the waist up and you want to bring your elbows in at your waist
and you bring your arms out here.
in this space, you want to create your vital V. This is where it's paramount that you wear
the right colors for your hair, your eyes, your undertone, and your personality, guys. Don't
forget that's vital. It's crucial for online meetings, right? On stage and video calls. Don't
forget. When you wear the right colors from the waist up, you're actually looking more vibrant,
more young you're naturally bringing colors to your face you're brightening the eyes you're
adding lip color without wearing makeup and adding a color to the cheek without wearing makeup because
that what is happening is that color is bouncing and reflecting off of your skin and it's either
creating a positive outcome or a negative outcome when you wear the wrong colors you will wash
yourself out. You will enhance blemishes or fine lines or even strip your lip of color or your eyes
will not shine as bright as they would with the right color. So it's vital to wear the right colors
at the vital V. Hair is a game changer. I have a client who for years wore warm, warm blonde when
she was a cool undertone. And she could never figure out why this warm blonde didn't work for
her. She tried all different blondes and it just didn't work out. If she went too light of a blonde,
it washed her skin out. And if she went too warm of a blonde, it just didn't work. And so finally,
when she came to me and actually had her 4x4 color analysis done, we discovered that she was in a
cool undertone. And so immediately I went over a palette I have of hair color based on your
undertone, your eyes, your skin color. And it literally took five years off by changing her
hair color to a cool medium brown. It was amazing. People kept asking, why do you look so young and
vibrant. Why do your eyes, like, did you have work done? And she was like, no, I just have my colors
done. Guys, it can literally be like a facelift. Also for women, here's some volume tricks. You can
tease your hair with root textured spray or make a bun higher on top of your head, but just make
sure you know your face shape before you're adding any volume to the top. For guys, the short-sighted
look with more hair on top is obviously going to create more volume. But again,
make sure based on your face shape that you can wear that type of hair. Let's talk about contouring
basics for people that wear makeup. Use a bronzer under the cheekbones and at the jawline to create
a slimming effect. But remember, if you're warm undertone, you can wear bronzer. If you're a cool
undertone, you wear contour, which is a cooler brown. And a lot of people don't know this,
And I see this mistake happening over and over, especially on YouTube when everybody's giving makeup tutorials.
It's great you guys know how to apply makeup, but you're not considering the depth of the color.
Is it warm or is it cool?
And when you add warm on a cool undertone, it's going to look off.
It's going to look like you truly have makeup on.
So keep that in mind.
Make sure you know your undertone.
It's so important, not just with your clothing, but with makeup.
because we want a slimming effect.
We do not want a distraction.
Also highlight the top of your cheekbones
for a more refreshed slimming look.
Secret number four, the perfect fit is non-negotiable.
Why is custom tailoring so worth the investment,
especially for professional wardrobes?
Let me give you the answer.
Because when you have a perfect fit,
you are going to look more professional, more credible.
You will build that trust.
Imagine someone walks into your office and they have too big of a suit.
It looks funny, right?
It looks like maybe they lost weight.
Maybe they were in their dad's suit.
It just doesn't fit.
Also, we have the opposite.
When someone's trying to fit in a suit maybe that they fit in 10 years ago and they've
gained 10 to 20 pounds, it looks silly and it looks unprofessional.
You look like you're squeezing into something and a button's going to pop off.
When you have a perfect fit, it will take years off of you.
It will slim you because it will truly show your line and your silhouette of your body.
It creates a polished professional appearance.
Here are a few dressing hacks for specific challenges.
I like to use the one where it could be a guy or a girl and you have more of an oval
shaped body, right?
So that middle part of your body is the biggest and the roundest.
We want to try to camouflage that with clothing items so that we look more proportionate and
balanced.
So always add a jacket under a shirt, but make sure you're not wearing clothes that
are too big because when you have these type of challenges when you're dressing, we tend
to add more fabric for bulk.
Like we go a size up.
In essence, that's harming you.
When you add more bulk or texture to anything, you're creating extra layers and that looks like
weight. So the monochromatic look is a beautiful way to slim the eye from up to down. Wear a darker
core color and wear a jacket that covers and lays open, don't close the jacket, so that you're
creating an illusion of more of a symmetrical look. If you're short-waisted, avoid wide belts
and opt for high-waisted pants that elongate the torso.
If you're tall, avoid overly short jackets
that disrupt the vertical line of the outfit.
Secret number five,
dressing for your body type for confidence.
We all have a horizontal and vertical lines in our body.
Horizontal are typical that we all think of.
Triangle, inverted triangle, horizontal,
hourglass, diamond shape, oval shape.
Those are horizontal.
We also have vertical body type. That is, you're either a balanced body, or you have a short torso,
long legs, or you have long torso and short legs. Why does that matter? Because when we're dressing
for our body type, like I said, we want to create a balanced proportion. Because when we're not
balanced, guys, people are looking at us, they're distracted, and we don't want people to be
distracted when we're speaking to them. Whether you're meeting investors, whether you're on stage,
whether you're behind a screen on a Zoom call, we want to keep distractions to a minimum. We want
people to hear our message. Remember, 55% is the way that we look. So that 7% of what we actually
say is so important that we deliver that message. And this all helps. Vertical lines are great to
lengthen the body and create a slimming balance. Do be careful though with women that wear stretchy
fabrics with a vertical line because we all have beautiful curves on our body. And when they
actually go over our curves, they're creating a non-vertical line. They're creating more like
squiggly lines. And that can actually be very distracting. So keep away from stretchy fabrics
if you're looking to slim.
This defeats the purpose of the eye moving up and down
versus diagonally.
Just make sure in a professional setting
you're wearing non-stretchy clothes, that's all.
Or stay away from vertical lines
and stick with beautiful solids.
Horizontal stripes can work in specific areas
and for specific body types.
Specifically for a triangle-shaped body
because what we're doing is we're creating
a proportion here.
So if a triangle is like this, then we want to bring elongate right here.
So we're adding proportion.
We're creating a balance.
This is also good for diamond-shaped bodies.
But really, in essence, you want to stay away from horizontal lines if you're looking to slim.
Let's talk about skirts and pants.
For example, A-line skirts are great for triangle-shaped bodies.
You're, again, creating a balanced proportion.
Keep in mind when you're wearing skirts, make sure to wear your skirt either two inches above your
knee if you have shorter legs. If you have longer legs, wear two inches below the knee in a
professional setting. Slim trousers or a classic trouser are great for rectangle-shaped bodies.
It helps define the legs. Wearing more of a wide leg pant is great for a triangle body.
also rectangle bodies can wear it as well because imagine a rectangle and it has a little bit of
flare at the bottom you're creating more of that hourglass figure and that's typically the figure
we're trying to create for a woman's body we're creating a trapezoid for a man's body let's talk
about some necklines let's talk about a v-neckline when i would recommend someone to wear a v-neckline
is if they have a large chest,
whether you're a guy or a woman,
because creating a V is bringing the I down.
And typically, if you want to make anything smaller again,
wear a darker color on the place that you want to recede.
Also, avoid crewnecks if you have a short neck.
This is just going to add to that.
Also, minimize crewnecks if you have a rounder face.
Anything that's round in your body and you add roundness
will round adds pounds.
