Starting point is 00:00:00 When you live a life that you give service and you pour into others, what happens is when you have endeavors or you do different things, those people that you poured into are going to be your biggest supporters because they know what you've given to them. The greatest gift is to give. So if I was to give you a gift, Chip, and today, and you were like, no, no, no, you're stealing that opportunity for me to feel what it feels like to give, to fully give.
Starting point is 00:00:27 In the long run, they might not like you, but they're going to respect you for owning who you are. No significant success is just going to come to us. I believe that we have to go get it and make it happen. It allows us to not just leave a legacy. It allows us to live a legacy by our day-to-day actions. You're listening to More Style, a podcast to help you transform your image

He shaped legacies, coached greatness, and now he's here to help you own your image and tell your story. Let's go. Welcome back to More Style. Style speaks before you do. I'm your host, Celeste Moore, and today I'm sitting down with a man who redefined success from the inside to the out. Chip Baker is a transformational speaker, best-selling author of 26 books, and the creator of Success Chronicles. His message? Live, learn, serve, inspire. Go get it.
Starting point is 00:01:35 And today we're going to unpack what that really means, not just for your career, but how you show up. Welcome, Chip. Celeste, thank you so much for having me. I'm so excited. It's an honor and a privilege to be here with you. been looking forward to this so let's go get it the honor is all mine i met you a couple months ago and just like your energy is just beautiful you literally walk into a room and people notice you you've got this energy yeah that's really i can't really put the words on on it um but i love
Starting point is 00:02:11 to just dive in and go go ask these burning desire questions about getting wanting to get to know you So thank you so much for the kind words. That's awesome. I just feel very fortunate, you know, to have to have been in that space. And it's always great when you're in spaces like that. You're always going to connect with great people. Right. But the icing on the cake is when you have great people doing great things in that space. And I think that's a true testament of, you know, David and things that he has going on. So I'm grateful to be here. Definitely. I appreciate him for bringing us all together. Yeah, for sure. You know, but like attracts like. And I think I was drawn to you for a reason.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Well, let's go. All right. You know, you talk a lot about legacy. As a fourth generation educator, how has your family's legacy influenced your approach to personal development and the importance of self-presentation? Oh, man, my family has been everything to me. You know, when you say fourth generation, that means that to me that there's been some people that have come before me that have shown me the way. Right. And so what I've strived to do in my life is just watch how they operated, how they gave service, how they took care of people, how they understood that it's bigger than them. It's about what they can do to help others.
Starting point is 00:03:39 and then seeing how in living in that manner, the big man is always seeing fit to take care of us. And so that showed me that that's the way to be. And so I've just strived to do things to make them proud. And I've seen that play out in my life where great things have happened as well because of that. And so really, I'm just striving to take those amazing things that I've been blessed and fortunate to learn
Starting point is 00:04:07 from the people that have come before me and actually just, you know, put it put it to work in my life. And it's been pretty cool. Yeah. So who who is your biggest supporter? Oh, man, we could that could be a whole podcast. So I think, you know, we talked about family, of course, family is where it starts. But the cool thing is when you live a life that you give service and you pour into others, what happens is when you have endeavors or you do different things, those people that you poured into are going to be your biggest supporters because they know what you've given to them. And for me, really, that's what it's been. I've been in education for a long time, long time teacher, former coach. And when I started my journey with
Starting point is 00:05:00 the podcast, YouTube channel, and even now with the books, I'm telling you like the people that go the hardest for me and support are people that I've poured into when they were students of mine or coworkers that I worked with that we were in the trenches together and we went through some stuff, you know? And so I'm just grateful to have been in situations to where I knew that it was bigger than me it was about giving service and helping others and i didn't do it to say hey down the road like they're gonna do something for me because i do something for them like it's not that way it's because you're supposed to you're supposed to help people and then the byproduct of that now man those people that i've poured into really wholeheartedly support me and i'm grateful
Starting point is 00:05:50 for that. That's so amazing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like to build those human connections and to see on the flip side, you, you gave in service because, because of your heart and because that's who you are as a, as a human, but then to see them really turn around and support you because you've made such an impact in their life. And that is truly like just transformational and no doubt. Absolutely beautiful. That's like what life's about. No doubt. That's the, I think that's the accurate word, transformational. Yeah. I think when people ask me, what do I do? Because it's quite complicated and it's not complicated, but there's a lot of layers and really it's transformation. It's what I'm creating. I'm helping you go from this individual being that
Starting point is 00:06:42 you are now to something even greater, something even bigger than you could have seen. And I know that's what you've done over your career with education and coaching and strive to for sure you know it's that's just a beautiful thing I love your story of having four generations of educators too like who did you you know I I was listening to a podcast you did and I heard him ask you so is there going to be a fifth generation educator so answer that question for me if you well yeah i will so so my son is funny uh my son actually just graduated this week from high school congratulations and uh you know uh you know i joke with him about you know because he jokes with me because that's my thing like i take pride in being a fourth generation educator so when people
Starting point is 00:07:35 introduce me or i say it i say well he's a fourth generation is it like he makes fun right and so i'm like it's okay man you're gonna be the fifth generation he's like no I'm not going to be a teacher and coach. I want to make money. Right. But but I joke around. I call him 5G, 5G, you know, but but really the cool thing is he's caught the service bug as well. Right. So he understands all of those things that I explained about it being bigger than me, giving service, helping others. He's been able to see throughout his life. He's been able to see how that works. Like I was able to see how it works. And so now what's really cool is he's receiving some benefits from the service that I've put in from others. Like just prime example, you know, there's a guy that I coach a long time ago. I developed a relationship with him. One of my best players stayed in contact, you know, done some life things together. Fast forward, he became a manager at this really nice restaurant in Houston. He was able to help my son get his first job, you know. And so just like the full circle of giving service. When I when I met that kid in fifth grade, I didn't meet him to say, hey, he's going to give my son later his first job because I didn't know that. But what I did know was it's important to give service and look out for others. And so he's seeing the fruits of the labor, if you will, of the seeds that were sold.
Starting point is 00:09:11 He's he's reaping the harvest of those fruits. And so, you know, he sees that it's important to give service. But he still says he's not going to be 5G, but we'll see. Maybe in some aspect, right? Yeah, yeah. He'll definitely be giving service, but I think eventually he will. He loves it too much. I think eventually he will choose to do that. That's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:09:33 My grandparents were service-driven people. And I learned something. This was actually from David Welter. I just saw him speak a couple months ago. And he talks about his mom because his mom was the epitome of service. She literally was a second grade teacher. He was from a family of six. They had no money.
Starting point is 00:09:51 They were living on food stamps. And his mom would still go buy pencils for her students at the grocery store. And yeah. And there's this thing that he couldn't figure out growing up that why do all the people that give, they don't make money? And everybody said, you know, they're like waiting. What? What? What's the answer?
Starting point is 00:10:13 What's the ticket? he said because to be able to be fully in and to give you also have to receive come on that hit me so hard because i thought about my grandparents who also one income seven kids you know and i thought wow if i only and that was a lesson for myself if i only because who doesn't love to give But when you don't allow, the greatest gift is to give. So if I was to give you a gift, Chip, and today, and you were like, no, no, no, it's okay, it's okay. You're stealing that opportunity for me to feel what it feels like to give, to fully give. That's good.
Starting point is 00:10:55 So I love that story of you and your life because it really, truly hits home in so many different. Man, when you shared that with me, it gave me chills because I have a couple stories that are similar in my family as well. Just growing up, single parent mom, there were times where we didn't have, but I was able to see my mom still give service to others. And I didn't quite understand all that at the time as a kid. but as I grew and matured I understood I I saw that that's the way to be because we're gonna be all right when we do that yeah and and even before that when I was a little kid I remember uh being at this church service we actually I think we were in Austin when we did this um so um we were at this service and I was with my mom I was a young guy couldn't be older than like nine
Starting point is 00:11:50 or 10 and this lady comes up to my mom like she sees my mom and she's excited right and she hugs my mom and she's smiling you can tell like my mom really doesn't know who she is she's like you know okay you know uh and she and she says to my mom i loved your grandmother which is my great-grandmother and um and you know oh thank you you know she's a great lady thank you and she paused and she said like no you don't understand I loved your grandmother and so she went on to tell this story and I'm sitting there just watching it all right and uh she goes on to tell this story where um when she was growing up and she was a kid and they were really poor and she couldn't afford even the personal hygiene thing she needed to go to school so she would
Starting point is 00:12:37 miss school and she said and your grandmother she cared about me enough to ask me like you know baby why you why you missing school like we need to here so you can get your lesson and learn right um and she you know finally told her that she didn't have it and she she paused like i see like this tear come down her eye right and she said um she bought me the things i needed so i could come to school she bought me a coat so i wouldn't be cold and i could go to school and that is the reason why i decided to become a teacher that's what the lady was telling my mom and that's why i do what i do because your grandmother made a difference in my life and just to watch that those feelings of how it was given the excitement how it was received from my mother you know and
Starting point is 00:13:28 for me to to see that man that that scarred me in a good way right that that's like that was one of the first instances as a kid that I was really able to see how it makes a difference to give service. It makes a difference to look out for others and take care of people. And so that I'll never forget that ever. Right. And so I've strived to do that in my life. Yeah, that's beautiful story. We never know the impact we're going to have on another human when we just when we think we may just be giving a simple, doing a simple act even. So that's a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing that. That's the little chip when he started everything, right? That was the start of it all right there.
Starting point is 00:14:19 So in your view, how does personal style and appearance contribute to one's definition of success? I think it makes a huge difference. I think it shows that what you're doing is important to you. It shows that it means something to you. And it's funny that you asked me that because like as a teacher coach, like I always I love dressing up. I've always dressed up, you know, and I didn't sometimes I didn't have to. Sometimes at jobs, we didn't have to wear ties and I would or I always make sure my shirts are ironed you know like like those kind of things and there's been a few times where I've had some students say to me like coach thank you for always dressing up that's pretty cool because that shows us that this means that we mean something to you because it's important for
Starting point is 00:15:08 you to to do that and so I believe that and I also have seen that it's shown to others that like it does mean something to me and I think I believe that I've gotten opportunities because of that right because i'm it shows that i'm a professional it shows that that what i do means something to me i'm not just showing up here like i'm showing up here with a purpose a hundred percent yeah yeah i'm so glad you shared that about your students because it truly does show respect to the other person for sure you know i i maybe i say this story too much so sorry people but you're gonna have to hear it again i'd love this so much because Grant Cordom, you know, he's a suit guy. He's even ties and he shows up and, you know, he's
Starting point is 00:15:59 big energy, but he was interviewing Kevin Hart one day and he was like, well, I can't just show up in a three piece suit. Kevin's a hoodie guy. So he was interviewing him and he really thought about this. So he's like, I got to respect. This is another example of respect, but I need to take down a notch so that we're able to communicate we're able to relate to one another it's called mirroring and so he brought it down to like a mock turtleneck and for grant that was like cash okay he was like that was that was his he was still a little level up of kevin but kevin was able to relate to him they're able to have those deep conversations and connect so i think it's really important but he still was like okay i respect him enough that i'm not trying to
Starting point is 00:16:47 not only show him up, but if someone, like if a guy walks in a three-piece suit and he's talking to a bunch of kids in board shorts, you know, it's gotta be in the right situation. But I love that story where they're like, yeah, coach, you know, thank you. Cause it does, it shows that you respect them and you respect yourself. It makes a difference. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Okay. So how do you encourage individuals to express their authentic selves through their personal style while pursuing success i just think um just hearing you ask that question i think that deals with identity right and so i'm big on pouring into others i'm big on reminding others that you know the big man has given us all special a special talent or traits right like i don't care
Starting point is 00:17:40 who you are like my my gift is different than your gift you know your gift is different than anybody else's gift right but it's our job to tap into what that gift is and give it to the max right and so uh i believe that within that journey of figuring that out that's where the identity piece comes in and so um i think it's beauty in the journey of learning yourself as well because you see like what you like what you don't like i'm pretty good at this i blew that right don't do that anymore right yeah like and you learn all of those things and then there comes a point in your life to where you mature and you are you are wholeheartedly okay with the person that you are yeah because you you figure out hey like i mean that's that's
Starting point is 00:18:33 who i am like i'm you know i'm i'm okay with who i am it's got me the success so far uh so let's just keep doing that yeah and i love that you say that because authenticity it's like being who you are loving who you are giving all of who you are and the fact that you talk about that coach about that speak about that i'm not sure where you're bringing that in i feel like it's probably in everything that you do it is um it allows those especially as children or middle school teenage whatever we're all struggling to figure out where we fit in who we are yes and the faster we can learn that it's okay to be who we are and then embrace that in the long run everyone's gonna to, they might not like you, but they're going to respect you for owning who you are. And I think
Starting point is 00:19:24 that's the difficult part. Like we all want to assimilate. Let's be like the cool kids. Let's be like the good athlete and all the things. And we can just say, yeah, God gave me a different talent than he gave you. And that's great because if they were, everyone was like me, you know, hey, I'm the same. If they were like me, they'd be in trouble. They don't want to do that. We definitely don't want to go there. So that's like fun. It's, and that's, I started a nonprofit and it's for girls, young girls to really help identify like the things that they, who they are and embrace those.
Starting point is 00:19:59 And cause I'm, if I had some of those things that I know now, and I know we don't, we're not going to all know it at a young age, but if I could show them, it's okay to be introverted or extroverted or like this color, be bright and, you know, not everybody's that way and own it, then like you just have a little bit more backbone going into the world. And, you know, as I heard you talk about all of that, I think the word that comes up for me is consistency, right? It allows you to be consistent. And you think about the people that we trust the most in our life are the people that are
Starting point is 00:20:37 consistent. Yeah. Because you know what you're going to get from them. good or bad true good or bad like like you know you know what you're gonna get from and the consistency counts and so i believe that when we when we own who we are yeah it allows us to get to that identity piece and to the consistency sooner right and so now just just do you yeah yeah yeah i love that i just love that you're you you're just like a beautiful human so Thank you so much. Seriously. And look at, okay, guys, these are just three of his 26 books. This is his latest one. Talk to me about this book. Yeah. The, the, the go get it book. Go get it. And that is my thing. Like, I believe that no significant success is just going to come to us.
Starting point is 00:21:32 I believe that we have to go get it and make it happen right and when we when we take the step to go get it take the proper actions to go get it what happens is we we surprise ourself with the success that we achieve and so really it's just uh and I think that it allows us to ah that's good it allows us to not just leave a legacy it allows us to live a legacy by our day-to-day actions and it just all starts with us like going to get it each day striving to go make great things happen each day i heard um i don't know i i can never as a icky guy to get one percent one percent better better every day yeah yeah so that kind of reminds me of the the philosophy about that book um but this is such a journey for you.
Starting point is 00:22:28 What has it been like to be an author of 26 books or what has really, what has been the underlying, I guess, ideal of service that you're looking to do with these books? I don't, maybe that's not the best question, but yeah, tell me a little bit more about that.
Starting point is 00:22:45 I understand what you're saying. I think there's two things that come up for me as I hear you ask that. I think the first thing for me is it's, It all blows me away. Right. Because like like where I'm from, small community, central Texas, raised with a single parent mom. I didn't grow up around people that wrote books. I didn't know authors growing up. Right. But like for me, you know, when you open up the books, Celeste, you know, you look here like on this second or third page and you see in the book it has like an ISBN number. That means that it's a real book. Like a real book. That's a ISBN number. That's real. Right. And so I just think for me, I am still in the phase of just being surprised about it all and being grateful for it all. um but but also uh not being satisfied with that either right so so humble and hungry
Starting point is 00:23:56 right and i spell hungry a little different not h-u-n-g-r-y i spell it with like four o's it's pronounced yeah yeah so humble and hungry because it shows me just humble because it shows me uh that great things are possible um but hungry because it also shows me that great things are possible right and i want to continue to do more and be the example and be of service and then you know the purpose behind the drive of doing the books is really just to be of service like you said i want to be a resource to help others i want i want people that are where i'm from or kids that grew up like me or or people that are wondering or trying to find their path to know that it's possible right like if i if i can trust me i'm telling you you can too like if i can do
Starting point is 00:24:55 this like a real like a real book we looked at like yeah like if like if i can do that yeah i promise you whatever it is you want to achieve in your life anyone like you're capable of doing that you just have to put the work in yeah yeah and i think for you i'm sure there was a purpose behind this and i feel you can do anything if you have purpose yeah and sometimes we don't know what that is because i think for a long time i was like i know what i like to do i know what makes me feel good but i couldn't quite define the purpose outside of being a mom because i knew that was like it's probably my sole purpose but what was like who take her out of the equation who am i yeah and why am i on this earth what do i like what am i to give other individuals right and so
Starting point is 00:25:51 really owning that in the last couple years yeah you know uh in your 40s is like shit yeah i thought this would happen a lot faster but it's like and then i heard this thing where you were just taking And, like, everything's on the right timeline, too. You were just preparing for this. Yeah, you're just on the scenic tour. Exactly. The detour, right? And I think that that's the cool thing about our life journey.
Starting point is 00:26:23 You know, the beauty in that journey is, you know, we want to see those people that we look up to and admire and take bits and pieces from what they do. Oh, that's pretty neat. I ought to try that. That's pretty cool. I love how that I love how that makes me feel when they do that for me. Right. You know, like take all of those things, but then also tap into the things that feel good to us. Like you talked about, you know, I love this is my passion. Like I love doing those things. And what happens, I think, when you put all of that together, right, it makes you who you are. But then the good and the good part of that, Celeste, comes when you figure out that those things that you've had, that you've those things that you've grown through. Come on. Right. Those things that you've grown through, the things that you've learned from that, you can take those and help others. like that's where it gets really good uh when you see that the struggle the hard the trying to
Starting point is 00:27:25 figure it out the the lessons the stumbling like all of those things that you've grown through wait so i can take i can take all of that and use that and write like there's some people in the world that are going through the same things that i had to go through all right there's some people like yeah some people that's gonna see the things that you had to go through share with them to help them live more efficiently and effectively. A hundred percent. Yeah. I just started that last year.
Starting point is 00:27:54 It's taken me a minute. And that's when the speaking started. And I only started to speak, guys, because I was terrified of getting on a stage and speaking in front of people. I can podcast for three years and I can talk all day long to have good communication. But it didn't matter who was sitting in the audience.
Starting point is 00:28:14 If it was my family, best friends, I was just terrified. So I was like, all right, I'm going to get through this obstacle. I'm going to see if it's possible. And I did it and I was like, okay, I'm still alive. But you know, the most surprising was the story. The few stories that I added to the speech and that people came up to me, not just women, because it wasn't just about my experience with my daughter or being a sole parent or it wasn't just about, you know, needing money in a couple of days and finding out a way to get it and, you know, all the things. But I connected with so many individuals that I was like, oh, maybe this is what people talk about when they speak, because
Starting point is 00:28:56 you're sharing stories that you're allowing others to be part of and understand that they're not alone or, oh, my God, look at her. She looks so perfect. She looks so put together. She must had a great life like I never knew that like it was it's just this like deeply connecting with people that I could have never seen before I started that speaking journey and that's what ignites the fire within you because you see that other people can use what you have yeah and so like you know truthfully I'll just tell you like like really I'm an introvert like you know just hearing you talk about that it's the same for me like like outside of this outside of me speaking Like I'm really like real low key to myself, really quiet guy. But my passion allows me to come alive. Right. Like I know like prime example is this interview. I know that without a shadow of a doubt, there's going to be someone that watches this interview that had doubts about something in their life.
Starting point is 00:29:59 right and and I'm here to assure you like where I come from if you want to write a book you can write a book right so if you're that person let me tell you you can write a book if you want to work on your style and be better at your style let me assure you you can work on your style and be better at your style and so we are the examples of that because we've done that we're not perfect we've had to grow through a lot like there's been lots of ups lots of downs right and so uh You know, like like my passion in knowing that there's people that can use our experience to be motivation and encouragement to them. That that is what really drives me and allows me to get out, get over, get over yourself. You know, like, like, oh, I'm 10, you know, I'm shy, bro. Cut it out.
Starting point is 00:30:47 Yeah. Like like speak from your heart. Share your story. Give them what you got. There's a whole lot of people that need it. It's not about you. It's bigger than you. And so I think, man, when we can allow ourself to do that, that's when it gets good right there. Wouldn't that be cool if all of us lived a little bit more in service every day? Can you imagine? Instead of being, like, I think we should all be selfish. I do.
Starting point is 00:31:15 I think that there's a whole, at least in my family, it wasn't cool to be selfish. Like, that made you look not in a good way. You're not a good person. Right. But I believe you should be because I think you should own where you need to be mentally, what's good for you, all the things. But if we could just live 1% more, not even asking that much, 1% more in service every day, like how many things could we actually change and actually just our voice let alone? And that just made me think of that when you were telling that story. And there's a balance to all of that, too. Right. You know, like you talked about, I think I think it's important for us to strive to be the best version of ourselves. Right. And that's not in a selfish manner. I say that because when you are the best version of yourself, it allows you to be able to give the best version of yourself to others. A hundred percent. You know? Yeah. No one tells you that when you're growing up. Nobody tells you that. Hey, that's the, that's the cheat code right there. So I just gave you
Starting point is 00:32:22 the cheat code. That's the cheat code. Okay. So overcoming some of your challenges in life, can you share a time when your personal image or style played a role in overcoming a professional or personal challenge i'll use this example um so there's a thing like when i was coaching we didn't do this in football but like with the basketball athletes you know they made them wear ties on game days all right um they all wore ties and you know at first they complained i don't want But then once everybody, oh, you look so nice, you know, man, that tie, that's a different tie. What you had on last week, that looks really nice, you know. And so I love to see when you dress up, you know.
Starting point is 00:33:12 And so it builds a confidence within you and makes you feel better about yourself again, because like we talked about early in the interview, it takes effort to do that. Yeah. Right. You don't just show up and have a nice ironed dress shirt. Right. Right. You don't just show up and have nice, clean clothes, blazers, suit. You don't just show up to do those things. You don't just go to any place and find slacks or nice dress shoes. And like it takes effort to do those things. And so behind the effort in doing that builds confidence within you because, you know, the work that you put into it. And really, I think that's a transferable skill that it relates to everything in life.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Like in life, if you want great things to happen for you, you got to put some work in. You have to be intentional or you have to make sure that like you're on purpose with a purpose. You have to make sure that like you lay your clothes out. You know, you have to make sure that you plan your your fit. Right. Like you have to plan all of those things. You don't just show up in anything and expect greatness to happen. Like it takes work to to to to dress up and do those things. And those are transferable skills that apply to life to help you be successful in life.
Starting point is 00:34:40 True. Yeah. It's those action steps, guys. no doubt and no matter what and you're right that does that's across all boards um yeah you know i do also have a daughter that you're she's just graduate not 29 since her last day yeah same age and um you know she has very good intentions with some things i love my daughter i'm not throwing her under the bus but it's almost like the i'm like it's the actions that you need it's those actions then make them the needle move right she's a she's great at talking she's great at like i was thinking that but what about implementing that into actionable stuff so yeah that's just a little and actions speak louder than words yes they sure do yeah like walk the talk
Starting point is 00:35:32 you know so uh is your son uh prepping for college or he is he is he is prepping um i had to take a deep breath on that one so let's just i heard that going to the going to the next phase i'm excited to see him put into actions what what has been instilled in him he's a great guy you know like like all of us you know there's always work and everything we're all we're all of work in progress oh yes there's some things that he can improve on but there's a whole lot of things that he does amazing and i'm super proud of that guy for them i'm grateful for the the good dude that he is that's amazing so exciting this time in their lives oh my gosh but it's it's a big transition for me i mean i only have one so yeah for me it's yeah same same
Starting point is 00:36:24 for me yeah so like like it's only one like it's no we don't get any redos let's try i messed up with this on him let's try it with this and i'll be better on this no bro it's this one right and and and what's crazy is um that's the mentality i i took when when when raising him as well only have one i'm not messing it up right can't go back like i'm not i'm gonna be intentional uh with the decisions that i make to be present right as his father like that's important to me yeah right you know no you know i'm gonna be there you know where i'm at i'm consistent you know right you know the expectations right and so that consistency that presence um i have no regrets on any of the decisions that i've made to put myself in position to be there to be present
Starting point is 00:37:16 because accolades, accomplishments, none of that is more important to me than me being there for him to raise him the right way. And I stand on that, right? And so I've had to make some decisions career-wise to make sure, no, I don't want to do that because I want to be dad, right? I'm going to be dad. I only have one. There's no redo.
Starting point is 00:37:42 I can't go back. And so that's why getting him to graduation is so pivotal, if you will, because it's all been intentional from my end. Yeah, I get it. Yeah. I understand. It was only me. So like 100%. So I knew that I wanted to be a present parent as well because I was from a big family.
Starting point is 00:38:12 And my parents, hey, they did the best they could. They were trying to make money, put food on the table. But I knew that having, I think the pressure was even tenfold knowing from birth that I was going to be the only person taking care of her. And so I was like, okay, so how can I provide emotionally, be there physically? I mean, want her to know she's just encompassed in love and that consistency, right? We have to make adjustments in our life to be able to provide that. Or sacrifices is the word. Adjustments that are sacrifices. I like the word adjustments. I had such a dialogue in my head, you know, that maybe I saw you like I said, like, yeah, that's the word. Okay. I have like a couple more and then we can be done. All right. So go get it mindset. Your mantra is live, learn, serve, inspire, go get it. How does personal style fit in this philosophy and how can it empower individuals to take action? We just talked about that, didn't we?
Starting point is 00:39:20 So live, learn, serve, inspire, go get it. That's my tagline. But really, those are words that define me and my journey. And so I believe that, you know, when you're looking at style, when you're looking at living a certain way, when you're looking at striving to make a positive impact, you have to live in a certain manner. You have to not have limits on yourself. Understand that if you limit yourself, you limit yourself. Right. And so we want to live a life that we live. Don't be afraid to live and experience. And then when we live, what happens is we learn. We learn so many things about the world.
Starting point is 00:40:09 But the big deal is we learn so much about ourselves. All right. And then once we learn those lessons, the blessings and the lessons, if you will, it's important for us to serve. And like we talked about in the interview, take the things that we've learned and use that to help others in your serving. Right. And what happens is when we are consistent and we show up each day and make those adjustments slash sacrifices, and we make those adjustments slash sacrifices people see the things the trials and tribulations that we are continuing to work through to be consistent and what happens is it's inspiring to others because they know and they see the journey right so we have to live it lets us learn so many things we have to serve and while we're serving it's inspiring to others right and
Starting point is 00:41:10 And so the culmination of all of that is we have to make sure we go get it and make it happen in order to do that whole cycle, if you will. Yeah, that truly is a cycle. No, yes. I mean, in anything that you're doing, like pick something style, live, learn, serve, inspire, go get it. Pick something career, live, learn, serve, inspire, go get it. Pick something. a kid is graduating now it's going to be a different life live learn serve inspire go get it and so it's a cycle but you know as you grow you just continue to work the cycle yeah that's such a beautiful message i'm so glad you bring that to every part of your life to every part of your business and i'm imagining raising your son so what's next for you chip i think what's next for me is really just all of the things that i've talked about in the interview right just
Starting point is 00:42:07 continuing to push myself to be the best version of myself uh finding ways to to learn and grow um you know and not be complacent where i am let me go back be grateful for where i am i'll be thankful for it be in the moment and be present uh and really enjoy the opportunities and the experiences and the things that come along with from the work that I've put in. But I want to strive for bigger and better. So continuing to write books, continuing to speak, lots of leadership development coming, team, team building, team bonding, doing some things with some some things with some companies, developing leadership. So looking for this summer, we'll be doing lots of traveling to do some of that professional development,
Starting point is 00:43:01 convocations and education world, books, more speaking and just striving to be the best version of myself in all ways so that I can give that to others. I love that. Where can people find you? Yeah. So all of my social media is at Chip Baker TSC, except for X and X is Chip Baker 19. And so I'm on all platforms. I don't want to be any excuse for them not to get this positive inspiration and motivation. But even though, like I said, I'm even on Tiki Toki, but no dancing on Tiki Tok. Oh, come on. We got to see the real Chip. No dancing. I don't know if they're ready for that, Celeste. I don't know if they're ready for that. But on all social media platforms and just striving to share positivity and do my part to make our world a better place. Yeah. Starting point is 00:44:03 Go follow Chip. He has got a beautiful message. And thanks again for being on the show. Yeah, thank you so much for having me. It's been a pleasure. I've been looking forward to this. Yeah, same here. It's been a few months in the making, but we made it happen. Go get it. Go get it.
