Ever wonder which fabrics can keep you looking elegant and comfortable on that next business
trip of yours? Well, in today's episode, I'm going to break down the top three fabrics that
every man and woman should have in their wardrobe if you travel for business. Plus,
what to look for when purchasing these fabrics to make sure you're getting your money's worth.
You're listening to More Style, a podcast to help you transform your image and transform
your influence. If you don't know who I am, my name is Celeste Moore, and I'm a certified
image consultant. And for the last 18 years, I've been helping entrepreneurs and C-suites
discover and master their own unique style. Now let's dive into those top three fabrics.
Number one is wool. Wool is a natural fiber, which means it's a breathable fabric. Now,
one cool thing about wool is that it's body regulating. So what does that mean? When you're
in cool weather and you wear wool, it'll keep you warm. And when you're in warm weather,
it will keep you cool. So ideally, this is also great for making suits. When you make suits out
of a very fine woven wool, it's called super 100s. This allows a slight sheen and a very good quality
suit that you'll want to wear whether it's in a sport coat or a full suit to your next event
or meeting. Now there's all different types of wool made into different items that you can wear.
So that's a really great way to mix and match items in your wardrobe for traveling.
There's thicker wools that you'll want to keep when you're going to cooler weather,
and there's thinner wools like such as merino wool.
The one thing you want to look out for, though, is that it's 100% wool.
So I'm going to pick up this item right here in my wardrobe, and it is a thin wool shirt.
It's also 100% wool.
And how do I know that?
I look at the tag 100% wool. Wool is also very durable and it does not wrinkle. So this would
be my first fabric. The second fabric is cashmere. Cashmere is also a natural fiber. So it is going
to be breathable. There are all different types of cashmere. There are well-made ones and there's
not so well-made ones. And that just really means how it is put together. Is it a thicker pile or a
thinner pile. Thicker piles usually are more weighted. This right here is a thicker pile
cashmere sweater. How do you tell? You hold the item in your hand, and if it feels heavier,
then it's a thicker pile. Also, another way to tell if this is a good quality piece is this is
a little trick I'm going to tell everybody here, and this is all image consultants know this.
This is called the hand. So the hand is the feel of the fabric. Is it soft? If I scrunch it up like
this, does it keep its shape? If it does, that's well made. If you rub it together like this and
it starts to pill or look disformed, that is also not well made. And you don't want to spend your
money on items like that because cashmere is expensive, but you also want to make sure you're
getting a quality piece. Cashmere is also really great for layering. So for those cold airplane
rides or that meeting room that could be icy cold, layer a nice cashmere item over a shirt or a dress.
The third fabric I'm going to talk about is microfiber. Microfiber is man-made but is the
exception to the rule with all man-made fabrics because it is soft to the touch, it is a lightweight
fabric. It's very easily to clean. It's also allows you to breathe. And usually with man-made
fabrics, it does not allow you to breathe. So microfiber is fantastic with this. It's great
to make with suits. If you're traveling to any warm, hot, humid climate, this is an excellent
choice for you. Make sure that when you're purchasing microfiber that you feel the weight
of the item. Make sure that it's light and it's soft. And just make sure that you're getting the
best quality of item that you're purchasing. Now, remember, when you're purchasing these items,
make sure that what time of year is it and where are you traveling to? If you thought this was
