The question was, what frustrates you most about clothing choices this year? And let me tell you, the answers revealed some real pain points that will be breaking down today. So what are your biggest frustrations? Let's start looking at the results of the poll. Here's how my audience responded. The lack of time for outfits was only 5%. Unsure
Starting point is 00:01:44 of what suits my body was 40%. Refreshing professional style, that was 15%. And finding quality on a budget was 40%. So it's clear that the majority of you are struggling with two major areas. Understanding how to dress for your body and finding quality options without breaking the bank. And honestly, they're my concerns that I hear all the time in my consulting work. But let's not overlook the other responses. Refreshing your professional style is essential to staying relevant. And even if the lack of time wasn't the top of the votes, I know many of you can relate to this challenge of balancing wardrobe planning with busy schedules. Before we dive into the solutions, let's talk about why suiting is a vital piece of your professional wardrobe. A well-tailored
Starting point is 00:02:37 suit is more than just clothing. It's a statement. It tells the world that I'm confident. I'm competent and I'm here to lead. Whether you're speaking on stage, negotiating in a boardroom, or networking with high-level executives, a suit helps you command attention and build trust. Here's the thing. The wrong suit can do the opposite. Ill-fitted jackets, outdated cuts, or poor choices can send messages that you're out of touch or you're not detail-oriented. And for entrepreneurs and professionals, that is not the impression you wanna leave.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Now let's dive deeper into the frustrations from the poll and how they relate to suiting. Frustration one, unsure what suits my body is 40%. This is a big one, guys. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck because they don't know what styles best suit their body type. They don't know what cuts flatter their unique body shape.
Starting point is 00:03:38 First one is we need to identify your body shape. You need to learn whether you're a triangle, inverted triangle, rectangle, hourglass, oval. Each shape has specific styles that enhance your proportions. For example, let's take hourglass. Look for tailored cinch blazers that highlight your waist. Do you have a rectangle body like me? structured shoulders and a double-breasted jacket can add dimension, but keep in mind, only if you're not top-heavy. Focus on tailoring, no matter your shape. Tailoring is your best
Starting point is 00:04:14 friend. Get to know a tailor. They will save you so much time and energy. A well-fitted suit can make you feel confident and feel unstoppable. Let's talk about color and patterns. Use colors strategically. For instance, darker core colors are slimming and well, subtle patterns like pin stripes add sophistication without overwhelming. The frustration number two that I want to talk about is how do I find quality on a budget? That was 40%. So clearly there is an issue going on out there and one that I like to talk about because quality has become more and more important because it is becoming less and less in clothing. So what do I mean by that?
Starting point is 00:05:05 The quality of fabric has diminished. Fabric is the most expensive piece when creating a suit. So a lot of name brands and not name brands have added cheaper material to a wool, for example, that makes it break down and it is not good quality. So one of the solutions is invest in the staples. Splurge on one or two high-quality suits in versatile colors that are your darker core colors, like navy or charcoal.
Starting point is 00:05:35 These will form the backbone of your professional wardrobe. Another solution is to shop smart. Look for designer resale, like shops or outlets. You can find incredible deals on premium brands without paying full price. Tailor off the rack pieces. That is the third solution. Even an affordable suit can look custom made with a few adjustments from a skilled tailor. There is no suit off the rack that perfectly fits anybody.
Starting point is 00:06:05 It could have a longer or shorter length in the arms, the pants, the waist, and it's okay. I always recommend going a size up if you're between sizes because if you go too small, it can't be tailored. There's no fabric. But if you go up in a size, you have more fabric to wiggle around and create that custom look. Here's frustration number three, refreshing your professional style. Feeling stuck in a rut is frustrating, especially when you want your image to evolve with your career. So here's a solution. Let's add some modern touches.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Incorporate trendy elements like accessories, like bold ties or colorful pocket squares, or even statement heels. Another solution is layering. Experiment with layering to add dimension to suits. This truly adds interest to the eye. A turtleneck under a blazer, for example, can be sleek and it's a contemporary look. The third solution, working with an image consultant. This is where I come in. I'll help you align your wardrobe with your current brands and goals, ensuring you look modern but aligning with who you are authentically. Now, the last one is lack of time to get outfits. Even though the lack of time
Starting point is 00:07:23 didn't score that high on this poll, it's worth mentioning because I know how you feel. Dedicate 30 minutes a week to planning your outfits. Trust me, it's a small habit that can truly save you time. It can make a huge difference. So start going in and think of the things that you have to do or you get to do. Are you meeting with investors?
Starting point is 00:07:44 or you have important meetings? Do you have any recordings or Zoom calls or a stage event? Start thinking about what that week looks like. If you don't know where to start, I can help you curate a capsule wardrobe. This literally takes the guesswork out of getting dressed. Creating capsule wardrobes are combining core pieces like jackets and pants and skirts,
Starting point is 00:08:08 mixing and matching different shirts, different pants, you've got different looks, and accessories also create a different look. This can be very helpful to save time. Remember, your wardrobe is an investment in your personal and professional success. Suits in particular are powerful tools for building credibility, confidence, and success.
