Hi everyone, I'm Peter Andre.
And I'm Emily Andre.
Welcome to At Home with the Andres.
You stole my line.
I thought it said Peter twice.
You said Peter thrice.
That's what you need to pause.
I'll go back.
I'll go back.
Sorry, can we pause there?
I'm Peter Andre.
And I'm Emily Andre.
I can't get this right.
Okay, one more time.
This is it.
Join us for At Home with the Andres.
Listen, wherever you get your podcasts.
Or watch on Spotify and YouTube.
Keep watching.
You had to add that bit in.
I know.
Because I'm trying to redeem.
myself. Hi, it's Paloma Faith. My podcast, Mad, Sad and Bad is back for season four. I'm sitting down
with some amazing people, including Letitia Wright. When I'm really fearful of something, I just run towards
it. Judy Love. I'm celibate. Out of choice. Yeah, I could get it any day. Grace Campbell,
here we have Anita, who's a dog psychic. Tell Eddie, start barking when I'm... She said you're too
noisy. And plenty more. Mad, sad and bad with me, Paloma Faith. Listen now, wherever you get your
podcast. Hey guys, I'm Carl Radke. Welcome to More Life. Today's episode, we've got Meredith Marks. She is
from the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. She's a philanthropist. She's a DJ. She's a boutique owner.
She's also a caviar mogul. We've known each other because of Bravo for the last about five, six years.
But we dive in even deeper today and talk about her marriage, her family, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
Lots of good stuff. I'm excited to dive in here in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Well, Meredith Marks. Welcome to Marks. Welcome to Marks.
more life. Thank you. I'm happy to be here. You look amazing and you're well deserving of the
nomination for tonight's page six virtual reality awards for most fashionable, best dressed.
Style icon, I believe is what they called it. Even more substantial. Well, I will be there tonight
with you and I will be rooting for you. Amazing. Well, we will have fun. It's going to be good. I love our
little Bravo get-togethers. It's always like a little mini reunion. It is. But thanks for coming here today.
It's great to see you in Brooklyn. As you know, this podcast is called More.
So you may not know this, but back in season two of Summerhouse, I showed up to a dinner,
really, really intoxicated and got to a huge argument.
And at that time, Drake, the rapper, had an album that I loved called More Life.
And at the dinner, I drunkenly was just yelling at people, like, More Life!
And it became something that people remembered me for from TV.
And I've turned it in kind of a mantra to take advantage of life and live life to the fullest.
So I'm curious for you, is there something that you kind of say out loud to Seth, their
Brooks or Chloe?
or to the housewives or a mantra that you kind of live by.
Well, I mean, I think the one that I'm probably most known for would be I'm disengaging.
Of course.
I was going to say that, but I wanted you to.
Yeah, that would definitely be it.
How long, like, have been using the disengage for a long time?
I mean, a long time, a long time.
Because I just, there's, you know, and I think also going through like couples therapy with Seth,
that definitely kind of cemented it for me because it's not about avoiding conflict.
It's about knowing that it's too heated to get a good resolution and outcome and that it's time to step away and revisit it at a later date when tensions are a bit lower.
It's a bit contrary to housewives.
Well, I appreciate the couples therapy thing because I, you know, not to get too much about me, but, you know, I did do some couples therapy with Lindsay.
And we learned some of those things because, you know, her and I would get these, we just couldn't get off of a topic of a fight and finding ways to like, you know, just disengage.
And there was little tricks and things we learned in therapy, which I appreciate.
But did it surprise you that that term became such a big thing for you?
Well, like when this.
Yeah, I mean, here's the thing.
I, before I went on Housewives, I had not watched.
And so when I found out that we were doing Housewives, I was like, okay, well, I don't
know what our group's going to be like.
And I hear they're all very different.
So I watched one episode from every city.
So I didn't really know, like, that Disengaging really wasn't.
wasn't supposed to be what you were doing, you know, because I didn't understand. Like, I saw
episodes, but I never saw a full season of any thing. So I was a little bit lost. But it ended up,
you know what? At the end of the day, it's like, it's not about what you're supposed to be doing.
It's about being true to yourself. And that is being true to myself. So I'm kind of glad I didn't
watch it in advance, you know? You didn't have, you were coming in with just a free mind. I mean,
I didn't watch Bravo really at all either, which I think, in a weird way, helped.
agree because I don't, I think, you know, we're human. And I'm not saying it's intentional, but we are
shaped by the things that we see. And, you know, if you know that something worked for somebody,
it may not even be conscious, you start to emulate things that you think have a good outcome.
Totally. Which is why I still watch very limited parts. I like to watch a little bit so that I can
be supportive of everybody and kind of like know who everybody is. But I don't really want to watch
too much because I want to be true to myself.
I love that.
I mean, it's actually been a big debate about cast members watching their seasons.
And it came up something with our reunion this past May where a couple of our cast members,
there was a lot going on and they didn't really watch.
But then at the reunion, they were like using that as a reason like they couldn't, oh, I didn't
watch.
It's like.
Yeah, I can't use that as an excuse.
Yeah.
And I think it's kind of, I mean, I hate to say it.
I think it is your job to watch because we know what happens when we're there.
and sure, great, you can talk about that part without watching,
but you don't know what happens when you're not there,
and that does round out the full picture.
And so if I don't know what somebody said about me when I wasn't there
or said about my situation or anything else, I can't really do my job.
Exactly.
That's, I think, the part about our shows that was unique at the beginning was,
you know, you were in the moment there at the party or whatever,
and then maybe someone's in the kitchen and they're talking about you,
but you were in the backyard talking to Seth,
and you're now eight months later seeing what they were saying.
Yeah, I mean, that is the reality.
Yeah.
If you're unaware of it, I don't know how you really do what you need to do at the end of the day
because it has been aired to the world, like many countries, and you can't ignore that, you know.
Can't.
Well, now, so congratulations on all your success with The Real Housewives.
It's been probably my favorite franchise to watch.
You know, I've gotten to know you and Heather and, and, you know,
some of the other ladies. But it's been, you guys have delivered beyond belief with great story and
just the banter and the- We're all nuts. And I love it. And I love it. So for those that, you know,
maybe know you from the housewife world, but prior to getting to the housewives, I'm curious
if you can kind of just share with us a little bit, like, talk to me a little bit about kind of
your business career and then. I mean, what I think is interesting with life is that like it's
twists and turns and we can do a million and one different things. I feel you lived a million lives.
I do too. I do too, you know. And I think that it's important, especially for people who are younger, to know that they can do that, you know, when they come out of college and they make a choice of where they're going career-wise, they're not locked in. I think like a lot of young people get very scared that they have to make this big choice and like that's it. And it's not it. You know, I started with undergrad and I was like a communications major. And then in my junior year, I took a criminal justice class. And I was like, this is amazing.
I love this. It's so interesting. I think I'm going to go to law school. And I applied and went to Northwestern. And halfway through my first year at Northwestern, I was like, I like the law and theory, but this is not what I want to do. I don't want to practice. I find it very interesting in theory. Then I was like, okay, well, I'll apply to the business school. So I did that. And I did the joint degree. And I had a few kids, got married. And you were still all doing this in Chicago.
All in Chicago, was in real estate development. I mean, I've done a lot.
You've a pretty impressive business career, I think.
Yeah, you know, I'm like, there's something that's just, I can't stop.
Because I mean, you have the Caviar brand. You've got your DJ career, which has been,
I want to talk about that too, which has been fun to see and unexpected.
But, you know, you have your family. You have your own personal things. You have the show.
Like, how do you have energy for all this?
I am a very restless human being.
So when you're moving, it's...
I don't, I'm not, like, I don't really sit around and have a lot of downtime.
That's just not how I'm wired.
I'm like up and going and moving.
I will say I see a difference.
Like, I can't quite do as much as I used to.
I'm getting a little bit.
Slowing down slightly.
Even though I had a facelift, you know, I might not look it.
No, you don't look a day or something.
But I do see that I can't.
quite go at the pace I was going at. Like I was, I was crazy. I mean, I literally did not need much
sleep and didn't, I just kept going. You kind of mind me myself a little. I'm a little more chill.
When you're sitting still and like not doing a lot, do you then get a little more overthinking?
Yes, I start like, my brain doesn't like shut off, you know. You do better with multiple balls in
the air. I do. And I've learned, you know, as I've gotten older, I've learned how to navigate that better.
Like I sleep a lot now, you know.
I mean, not a lot.
I'm not like a 10 hour a night person or anything.
But I do sleep like seven hours a night now, you know.
And I used to be asleep for like four or five because I would wake up because I was thinking,
thinking, thinking.
And so I've learned how to like self-soothe.
I love this.
This is good.
We love a self-suit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's important to take, I mean, have that balance.
And it seems like, I mean, you've been able to juggle all of these things and balance.
I mean, I'm sure you have your days, obviously.
But balancing these businesses, your family and to show.
You seem to kind of hold it all together pretty damn well.
Yeah, I've also learned to let go of the things I can't control.
That's a very big deal.
Write that down, people. Yeah, no, it's a very big deal because we can spiral.
And when you have no control, like, you're just going to keep spiraling because you can't change it.
So you've just got to let it go.
I love that.
I feel like that's something I have.
Half of the reason I do this podcast is I'm getting myself some therapy from all the people
that I have on because that's stuff that I need to remind myself.
I had a question here which I really wanted to ask you, but is there anything about like joining
Real Housewives that you could not have predicted that has now happened for you?
Yeah, there's a lot.
But first time I want to tell you, I love the string.
The founder's favorite.
The founder's favorite.
I love it.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Cheers to the founder.
Cheers to the founder.
Honestly, between the podcast, work, exercise, and trying to actually have a life,
I'm always looking for little ways to save time.
I'm the guy eating breakfast on the way to the meeting.
delivery for everything, auto ship on all the household stuff.

All right, everyone's been talking about gut health lately, and for good reason.
Healthy gut, stronger immunity, better energy.
The easiest way I've found to actually support mine, Brodo Bone Broth.
This podcast is sponsored by Broto, this simplest nutrition upgrade you can make.

Launched by James Beard Award-winning chef Marco Canora out of his New York City restaurant 11 years ago.
Signature Heart Bone Broth from the...
Sampler Pack is my go-to.
It's rich, it's savory, straight-up restaurant quality.
And fun fact, Brodo literally means broth in Italian.
And honestly, people have been asking why my skin's been looking brighter lately.
It's Broto.

Can I call some of you out for a second?
If you're still holding onto that one basic that's gone see-through, pill it's the collar, then through the wash, 200 times, it's time.
That's the thing I fixed this year with Quince and I'm not going back.
Here's what won me over.
Quince is all about fewer, better pieces, premium materials built to last.
the stuff you actually reach for day after day.
Their tailor chinos and premium denim start around $60 with the fit and fabric you'd expect from a luxury designer label.
And the reason it's not designer prices, everything's 50 to 80% less than similar brands
because they work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middleman.
So you're paying for the quality, not the markup.
I've been rocking the Quince Henley Waffle, super comfortable, really, really high quality.
honestly, I've watched it three or four times and it still is holding up really well.
And honestly, it's not just the clothes at this point.
It's become my go-to for hotel quality betting, travel stuff, all of it.

Radkey. We talk a lot on this show about taking care of yourself and doing the inner work,
and part of that is knowing where to go when you're struggling. So I want to put something on your
radar. No CD. That's no CD. Here's the deal. A lot of people are living with OCD and don't even
realize that's what's going on. The intrusive thoughts, the mental loops, the things you feel like
you have to do just to make the discomfort quiet down. And it's not a quirk or a personality thing.
It's a serious, genuinely debilitating condition, and for a long time, real help was hard to find.
And that's what no CD fixes.
They provide specialized treatment for OCD, connecting you with licensed therapists who are actually trained in treating it,
which matters way more than people realize.
With the right support, those intrusive thoughts can start to hold less power over you,
and you learn to manage your symptoms so you can get back to living the life you want.
If you're struggling with OCD or intrusive thoughts, that won't let up.
please don't sit with it alone.

Your show certainly went very viral, I would say.
And then even with, I forget her name,
but you had a cast member that also had some crazy stuff off.
Your shows had like these crazy spikes.
We had a lot.
But is there something that maybe you never predicted that?
A lot that I wouldn't have predicted.
I mean, you know, I started this.
Like I said, I didn't really have much of a clue of what I was getting involved.
What did you think you were getting into?
Not what it is at all.
I thought it was kind of just like, I don't know.
I just sort of thought it was like a little more like, you know, following you.
I didn't really get it.
You know, you just don't know what it is.
Did you do camera work at all or TV stuff in any shape?
Like a little bit.
I had modeled a little.
And so, you know, we had little things that I had done like that.
but nothing of any significance.
It was a small part of my life, really, because the kids were modeling,
and it was fun to do it with them, you know, more than anything.
And as we saw, I like to be with my kids.
I don't smother them.
No, we love your relationship with your kids.
And I love Seth, as well.
And I remember this.
We were with each other on New Year's Eve last year with Jen Geiser.
Yes, yes.
That was fun.
That was a great night.
I love watching, you know, you and Brooks and your relationship.
It's just a beautiful thing.
Now that you are a Broadway moment, like what is something?
that's shaped all of this bravoness and being a mom.
Like, how is that change being a mom with being on housewives?
I mean, the thing is, is answering both of those questions.
I didn't know what I was getting into.
And I think that what I realized in doing it, you know,
I think everybody goes on on these shows and you have a reason for doing it.
And maybe it's to promote your business or maybe it's to be the next big star or whatever it is.
And I sort of had to find that for myself in this very strange way.
You know, you look at, for me, I look at the show and I see so, I found it's like kind of like,
what is the meaning of life?
What is our purpose?
Why are we here?
What are we doing?
And the platform that I've been given is a gift because I feel like I have the ability
to shape the way people see things and maybe just leave this world slightly better than I came
into it. And in that same vein, it forces me to look at myself as a mother, as a wife, how I
communicate as a friend, you know, how people receive my communication, how they interpret it,
and what they do with it and how I react to it. And so it's really quite interesting. And I had
no idea of any of that when I started the process. I just was like, this opportunity came along
and I should see what it's about.
And that's kind of like where I went into it, you know.
And I didn't know how significant it really is.
And what a gift we have been given.
Absolutely.
No, it is absolutely a gift.
And I think I love how you talk about it in that way.
But it's interesting, like using, I mean,
do you think you've seen yourself in some episodes in the past
and been able to use that to try to grow or change or be a better mom or friend?
Is that kind of?
Yes, I think.
And I love that you said that because that's kind of how I...
Yes, I think it really...
Relationships are built on communication.
And, you know, we all think we're very good at that.
But sometimes we fail.
Oh, I learned a lot about how bad I am in communication from our show.
And that's the thing, is trying to learn from it, trying to do better and trying to find, like, self-improvement and growth.
And that's what I think is interesting for the audience to watch, too.
Like, who wants to watch someone that just keeps doing...
the same thing over and over again and doesn't have any self-awareness or self-growth.
I mean, you hear me nodding and shaking because that's something I really believe in is,
you know, if you're watching yourself back and not evolving or changing or growing, it says a lot
about you.
I think the growth and really taking back what you see and also maybe what your castmates say
in the reunion and the even audience at times. I think it does help, you know, it's a mirror
into your life that sometimes you need. I completely agree.
But I didn't know it early on. It was hard for me to take what I
was watching back early on. Was there an adjustment period for you when?
Well, it's like we're saying, it's all a growth and learning process. And yes, I think it's,
I think the beginning is really difficult. I think it's really hard to watch back things that
you didn't think were coming out the way that they did, you know, or you didn't think you were
doing something that you were doing, or you didn't think it would be received the way that it was,
or the audience is ripping you to shreds because they just don't like you.
Sure.
You know, or whatever it may be.
It takes a while to kind of like adjust.
You never really, do you ever get comfortable with it?
I will say that after last year with everything that went on with these false accusations
against me and how far it went, I kind of really let things go.
You know, I said, okay, we're at.
a point now where this has gone so far that, you know, if you're believing this, you have to be
really quite unintelligent. And I just don't care what those people think. So I kind of got to a
point finally where I let go and I think you'll see like this year as we start to move in further
into the episodes, you'll see that I kind of just didn't really care that much and was having
fun, you know, and I didn't really, if they wanted to say whatever, I could laugh most of it off.
There are certain things that I'm not going to laugh off.
Sure.
And there are certain times where I am going to make someone be accountable
if they refuse to do it on their own.
Sure.
I think the accusation stuff is something.
I mean, I've dealt with that at times with our show,
just where I've been open about my sobriety.
And I think that's a really tough spot, especially on camera.
And I think sometimes it comes from a place of love and concern
or wherever it might be.
But those topics, accusations of whether it's drugs or cheating or whatever
it might be, it's hard. And I've personally dealt with that on our shows. And for, I get why,
but when it's that publicized and that big, it was really hard. I mean, I know for you that,
but the way you've navigated it, I have a lot of respect for it. It's kind of like,
honestly, if you're crazy enough to believe all of this, go ahead. Yeah, and like, who cares?
You know what I mean? You know your truth and you know where you are. Exactly. And the people who
know me and love me, they know my truth. And by the way, if they don't,
then that's fine too.
Like, whatever.
I don't really, I just don't care.
Yeah, I love that.
I think throughout this season as it unfolds,
I would imagine seeing how your energy is around.
If you were really defensive and, you know,
trying to fight back,
then I think it might call more than question those accusations.
I think it's really hard, though, to get there.
And I think that our natural instinct is to be super defensive.
And that is something you learn very quickly with reality TV
is that when you get defensive,
that makes people think it's true,
even though all you're doing is you're like, wait a second, these people are lying about me and I want to tell the truth and done, you know, and the more adamant you get about it, the more they think it's actually true, which is so crazy.
It's crazy. I want to ask you about something too. I mean, you've, you know, Seth's been on a lot. You know, you've had Chloe, you've had Brooks. You've had your family really involved with your, you know, with your show. And for my, you know, with Summerhouse, I've had my mom on. I've had other friends. And sometimes when they're like, they're not like the main character. They're there to support me. They're there to support you. But then audience.
or cast also can have opinions about your family or your loved ones.
How do you navigate those, that world?
Because they're not necessarily being paid.
You know, you're the focal point.
But then your family has to deal with a lot of the opinions and feedback.
And that's where it gets really tricky and difficult.
And I mean, look, I've been pretty upfront from day one that that's how you get to me.
And so they all know it.
It's not like it's any secret.
But isn't there a level of like some of the family should be off limits?
It's two degree.
I mean, I don't know.
I guess if it's like things that are true and you're talking about them, that's another
story.
Sure.
But these ridiculous false accusations, you know, like when Brahman was like saying Seth was
on a date in New York when he was at a dinner with four businessmen and I have text
messages from her own husband confirming that and she's refusing to tell the truth about my husband
who's not a cast member and complaining left right and center that people
talk about her husband in marriage. Like, yeah, you get annoyed. Like there comes a breaking point
with all that stuff where you're like, you got to come clean here. And that was why I was
reacted to Whitney the way I did just now, you know, where if she came to me and said,
Meredith, I was projecting my own issues on to you. I lied on stage about you filing lawsuits.
That's not an opinion. She's saying her saying, these things are my opinions. It's fact or fiction
if I filed a lawsuit and it's public record and it didn't happen, you know.
So it's like if you can come out and honestly say, I'm sorry that I did these things and be accountable,
that's very different than this.
I'm sorry, let's move forward.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, I don't hate you even though every action I've shown you for the last seven years points to me
hating you and gaslighting you to think I was doing things out of kindness and love when, in fact,
my truth came out because I was wasted on a stage.
for the fourth time, that was not the first time she did it, it was the fourth time she did it.
She had been warned to stop.
And she just, instead of stopping, told people they couldn't use her phones or video in there.
And obviously, someone did anyway.
Wow.
So I don't know.
It might have been the 10th time.
I mean, but it's the fourth time I was aware.
Wow.
You guys have a lot going on over there.
So, I mean, that's the thing.
It's like that is hard.
It is hard when you feel like you are not getting honest answers, when you feel like someone
is just relentlessly coming after your husband or your children for no reason other than probably
just to conceal what's going on in their own lives or it's a projection of what's going on in
their own lives. Start a fire over here so they're not looking at fire over there.
Exactly.
And there's some, you break it down, I think, in a way that I really relate to. I mean, I definitely
see, you know, those behaviors and actions a lot of times, you know, the projection, it's coming
from somewhere else inside and her own thing or whatever else might be. But that, I've learned a lot
about myself and other people through this whole experience, which it's been fascinating.
I saw recently, you know, you and Brooks caught up during the reunion, which I thought was awesome,
just loving that little moment. Talk to me about, like, supporting Brooks in his current,
and I love seeing NextGen, and it's done incredibly well. So I'm curious how, like, just,
you're not even in his show, but you're certainly supporting him and trying to be helpful.
Yeah.
They're a great group, you know. It's Bravo's youngest cast ever.
They're a wild bunch.
And that's, it's a lot. Like, they are young.
You know, they're...
I think we forget that.
I mean, even, you know, we've had Ava on, who's a friend, and she's, I think, 25, 26.
Yes.
Brooks is, what, 24, 25?
27.
27.
It's young.
And the rest of the gang, I think, is around that...
Yeah, they're all, other than Charlie, they're all in their 20s.
And it took me a lot of grow up, too, so...
Yeah.
And so, that's the one thing I do, like, sort of say and ask everyone to remember.
And I'm not saying this just about Brooks.
I'm saying it about all of them.
They're young.
They're learning.
Imagine yourself.
in your 20s being on TV.
Like, you are going to make mistakes,
and it is going to be everywhere.
But they are really a great group.
I have loved being a part of NextGen.
I've loved all of them.
I feel like they're my kids, you know.
It's cool to see that even...
Not everybody.
For the most part.
Yeah, it's been cool to see Seth, too, also.
And I, you know, I DM with Seth, and we've texted,
and he's very motivational.
And as a male in the world of Bravo,
it's been nice to talk to Seth at times,
just because he has a...
a male energy that I appreciate.
But, you know, I guess like the advice you,
or do you give advice to the other cast besides?
Yeah, I have at times.
I have at times more, less in the second season,
more so in their first when they were all kind of like freaking out a little bit,
trying to understand what they got themselves involved in and whatever else.
But now it's like they've got it, you know.
They really do.
I mean, they're going to make mistakes.
They are young.
Like, it is going to happen.
but I think like they are pretty comfortable and get what they're doing now and yeah they're
doing they're doing great but it's been fun to see them because you know we were rooting for them
obviously and like seeing a younger generation and it's kind of the future of Bravo it's incredible
like we will have decades with these kids you know and they're not kids they're not kids I know
we call them kids but it's kind of how we talk a lot on this show about taking care of yourself
and doing the inner work and part of that is knowing where to go when you're struggling so I want to
something on your radar. No CD. That's no CD. Here's the deal. A lot of people are living with
OCD and don't even realize that's what's going on. The intrusive thoughts, the mental loops,
the things you feel like you have to do just to make the discomfort quiet down. And it's not a
quirk or a personality thing. It's a serious, genuinely debilitating condition and for a long
time, real help was hard to find. And that's what no CD fixes. They provide specialized
treatment for OCD, connecting you with licensed therapists who are actually trained in treating it,
which matters way more than people realize. With the right support, those intrusive thoughts can start
to hold less power over you, and you learn to manage your symptoms so you can get back to living
the life you want. If you're struggling with OCD or intrusive thoughts that won't let up, please
don't sit with it alone. You can book a free 15-minute call to get started. Head to nocd.com to learn more
and start treatment. You're listening to a quick ad. You know what else?
As well, selling your car on Carvana.
Just put in your vehicle information and we'll give you an offer.
Done.
No hassle, no negotiation, no guy from an online listing lowballing you.
Which means by the time I'm done explaining this, you could have basically done it.
Still haven't started?
Hey, better late than never.
Sell your car today on Carvana.
Pickup fees may apply.
Well, I kind of want to get into the Salt Lake City a little bit more too.
And I know not to get dark, but I know Mary, obviously, you know, and Robert, RIP and every really difficult thing that she's gone through.
And even the friends and the cast.
And I've, you know, lost my brother to an overdose.
So I really relate to what Maryhood had been going through.
And I, you know, had seen those scenes.
I'm curious who you can just talk about just, like, showing up for friends going through incredibly difficult times regardless of cameras.
And kind of that sisterhood that you guys have.
And my heart goes out to Mary and her family.
It was incredibly sad.
but I'm curious how that all, you know, how for you and showing up for her and the family.
Well, first, I'm sorry for your loss.
Thank you.
It's very tough.
And, you know, for Mary, we're going to see how she navigates everything as the, you know, season unfold.
And it's quite impressive.
It's very, for me, it was a very inspirational time because, you know, she just picked herself up.
She put it together, you know, and had a level of strength that I think is quite unusual.
And I just, you know, no parent should ever go through that.
And to go through it and have it be on worldwide television on top of it.
And maybe in some ways that maybe gave her some piece to it in a weird way,
because I think like there's this acknowledgement of he shared his story with other people.
and the hope is that he helps other people,
and I'm sure that that is the case.
So that may have, in a weird way, almost helped her
and also gave her something else to think about,
which obviously is positive during a difficult time.
But she's incredible.
Like, I mean, you guys are going to see how beautiful it really is.
Like, she really, it's a very difficult, tough, upsetting situation
that I think, and I, you know, again, like we don't see everything,
so I guess it's going to depend on how it all unfolds for the viewers.
But I think she somehow almost made it positive and inspirational, and it's incredible.
I love that.
I mean, so well said, and thank you for kind of talking something about that.
Because I, yeah, I just relate to a lot of that experience of, you know,
losing someone and then still filming after that and trying to show up with your best self
and look strong and love hearing how Mary, you know,
know, seemingly resilient and showing up and still trying to power through.
But what you said about being at peace, there was an element of my brother.
I got their phone call while we were filming Summerhouse.
So it's an episode of television as well, which is insane.
But to your point about the help that my brother's story is put out there and the inspiration, it is helping people.
And I know for a fact, Mary and Robert and that story will continue to perforate through Bravo and through social.
And it's going to help people.
As horrible and sad as it is.
the people that watch their shows.
It gave them a lot of peace and solace for their own personal stuff too.
And at some level doesn't that make you think there's like,
and I know this is a tough thing to say,
but there's a purpose to it all.
Absolutely.
You know what I mean?
Absolutely.
It's not just that story, that help that lives on forever.
Exactly.
I think there's a bigger energy behind it all.
And that's the way I've reconciled some of my brother's passing with the bravo of it all
is that ultimately it is helping other people.
And my brother's story is still carrying on through Summer House and through Bravo and now with Robert.
Because I was watching and rooting for him.
But when you saw that, it was just devastating to read.
But hearing that Mary is turning it into something positive and inspirational, it just shows her character, but also the women that rallied around her.
It's hard to.
She's incredible.
So, well, thank you for talking about that.
I, you know, wanted to kind of just learn a little bit more.
And, you know, showing up for each other.
I feel like you, you know, you women have really come together outside of Mary's difficulties with other.
things in the show.
Like, did you expect that to be the case with, you know,
when you're fighting sometimes and then having to like move all that aside and just
remember your humans and you have history?
Like, what's that been like showing up for your friends on this show during drama
or conflict?
I think that, you know, I think it depends on what it is exactly.
You know, I mean, I think that a mother losing her child, if you can't put something
aside to show up for somebody for that, there's something severely wrong with you.
like that's just beyond. But, you know, if you're talking about something that's more normal day-to-day stuff,
I think that you're going to be supportive of everybody, but obviously more supportive of somebody that
you're getting along with. Like, no matter how I feel about any of the women that are currently on
the cast, have been in the past, or whatever else, I am cheering for them. You know, I want them all to
succeed. I want them to do well. In fact, I want everyone around me to do well. Like I don't,
I'm just, that's just not my thing. I don't hate people. I don't wish ill upon them. That's just
not my way I operate. I want people to do well in life. I think, you know, it's not like,
if they do well, it's going to make me do any wires, you know. There's, there's plenty of
positivity for everybody. There's enough to go around. So even the ones who I don't get along with or
who I think are not nice to me or whatever else, I still want them to succeed. I want them to do well.
I want them to find whatever it is that will make them happy. I love that. It's good energy to put out there.
Yeah, well, because usually when you're mean to somebody else, you're not real happy within.
You know, people who are happy within, don't try to destroy other people. No, you nailed it. I'm loving this conversation, Meredith.
I feel like you've got a similar kind of mindset of some stuff that I really relate to. And I appreciate just everything.
you're saying. So you've been on, how many seasons now, Housewives are you in? Is this season six or
seven? Seven. Seven. So is there something you wish you could have told season one, Meredith?
Oh my gosh. So much. Or what would you go back and say to season one, Meredith, if you could? Is there
anything? I would have told myself to even let things go more than I think I do already. You know,
there's just so much of this stuff is just nonsensical, you know, and if it's, you know, and if it's,
eating you up and getting to you, it's not good.
You know, like say what you need to say, get it off your chest and move on.
You know, that's the best way to deal with it.
And you just have to let go.
When something like, you know, we talked about some of the accusations and stuff,
but like the deeply personal stories that kind of get brought to light,
I've always felt like with our shows, the things you don't want to talk about is exactly
what you got to talk about.
And the things you really want to talk about and promote, it's like they don't care.
Would you agree with that?
Yeah, because that's what's interesting.
At the end of the day, if you want, like, we all can sit and talk about how fabulous we are and this, that, and the other.
But what people want to see is struggles.
They want to see conflict and resolution.
They want to see overcoming the struggle.
They want, you know, they don't want it to be negative.
I mean, maybe some do.
I don't know.
But they, you know, just smooth sailing is kind of boring to walk, you know.
And so people want to see what you're going through.
And that's where the tension can be sometimes in those uncomfortable things that you're afraid to face.
I mean, would you say that, like, the show has forced you to sometimes have tough conversations with yourself and your family?
And if you hadn't done the show, you wouldn't have had to have those conversations?
100%.
I mean, the funny thing is, is I actually attribute my marital success to housewives and COVID combined.
You know, Seth and I, we were separated.
Which I didn't actually know.
I know that was maybe on the first season.
I maybe missed that part.
Because just seeing your relationship that I saw publicly and on social,
it's just such beautiful marriage and loved watching you guys and your dynamic.
And then hearing about, but I just, it's an incredible story to see because I think you hear about couples, obviously, that maybe try that or maybe there's success.
But I'm curious, you can just shed a little more light on the.
Yeah.
I mean, we were like, I mean, I thought we were getting divorced.
So did he.
And he was going to, he filed, right?
Oh, yeah.
Wow.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, we were like pretty much done.
And how are you been married at that point?
At that point, like 23 years-ish.
Which is a long time.
We just celebrated our 30th.
Congratulations on 30th.
So, yeah.
But we had been, we had some difficult times.
We had been separated on and off for quite some time.
And Seth, I think, originally wasn't even going to film.
And then he, I don't know why, I decided that he was.
would and process kind of taught us to communicate again. It's just it's very strange and very hard
to explain. And then, you know, so we had been going through the couples therapy and then you're
actually like seeing the communication, you know, like in real life. And you're watching how you're
engaging with each other and how you're dealing with each other. And on top of it, you know,
sometimes you might have a producer who says to you,
oh, were you bothered by bloody blah?
And yeah, I was bothered by bloody blah,
but I had my kids there and I wasn't going to say it.
And then I forgot about it.
And is it festering inside me and whatever?
Yeah, of course.
But I didn't address it because I've got 8,000 other things going on around me.
And so sometimes having that person just asked you the question,
which could have just been a friend, you know, or whatever.
I mean, but, you know, your friends aren't privy to.
to all of that all the time.
Totally.
You're like, oh, we do need to talk about that.
We do need to work through that.
And suddenly we have that.
And then we've got, you know, we went into lockdown and COVID.
And you're thinking about, well, what's important in life and everything else?
And then we were under attack, you know, by a lot of the women.
And they were trying to destroy our marriage.
And the more they wanted to destroy it, the more we were fighting for it.
You need you stronger.
So it was just, it was very strange.
But it's a really, I just thank you for sharing that because it's just a fascinating story
to hear.
And I love, you know, hearing like when couples are really trying to work through things and it shows,
you know, if you're committed and wanted really work through and communicate, there are,
look at you guys now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You would never have known about those, you know, bumps in the road.
Just looking at what it seems like your relationship has been and the beautiful marriage
you guys out.
I think we would have divorced if I had a, like if we hadn't gone through this whole.
process. I really do. I appreciate you saying that because I would say to people a lot, I don't think
I would have gotten sober had I not been on Bravo. Really? To your point about seeing yourself sometimes
on a Saturday night drinking, partying, yelling at people, getting into a fight, I was like,
that's how I am. Like I didn't really realize. Oh, that's so interesting. And then, you know,
I also had friends that were concerned, but a big portion of seeing myself drunk was like scary to me.
Right, because there's no denial when you're seeing it in front of your face, whereas if it's just a
drunken night you hear about really like oh they're exaggerating or whatever i forgot about it it was fleeting
and carl said some stupid shit whatever move on but here with our shows you got reminded of it but i'd see
you could see the pain inside of me i mean i was just drunk and sad and depressed and acting crazy
and treating people poorly but it was a big portion of what really informed like i don't want to be
like that you know and i think having that mirror was something i never expected to be so helpful
but i love that you know revelation with you and set that the show and we're
crazy way kind of challenged and forced those communications and coming together to deal with all the
other stuff that you were going through. So it's really powerful story. That's so interesting. I didn't
know that about your sobriety. Yeah. I mean, a big reason. That's amazing. I mean, there's some
moments from seasons in the past that they occasionally, I've actually told this before, during Christmas on
Bravo's Instagram, they play like, you know, happy holidays and they use old clips from Housewives of like,
oh, Christmas episode. There's a Christmas thing from Summer House where I'm,
I'm chugging a fireball bottle and I'm singing the partridge in a pear tree song,
but inserting the names of the girls in our cast.
I'm like, and I'm really drunk, like embarrassingly drunk, sweaty.
You're like, okay, can we get rid of this clip?
Like, guys, get this out of here.
But I'm reminded even visually just seeing myself drunk, and it's just not, I'm not proud of that.
And it's been, you know, reflecting on it, it's actually been a real big reason why I was like,
that's not who I want to be.
You know, so I'm really, I appreciate.
what you've, you know.
That's probably good that you see the clip once.
So you're a good little reminder.
Exactly.
It's the good little reminder.
You're like, don't say that.
Exactly.
Well, I want to get in some fun stuff because I don't think, I mean, did you, you're a DJ.
Yes.
I love it.
I saw you perform.
Actually, we were at, I think it was an Amazon party.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You were there.
Kyle a DJed, you DJed.
It was epic.
Yeah, that was fun.
But did you ever think, you know, when you got involved at the Housewives,
have your jewelry brand and all these other businesses,
that you would then have time for DJ.
No, I didn't think.
If you had told me 25 years ago that I would even live in Utah,
I would have looked at you like you had six heads, okay?
Like my life, everything is just an adventure.
None of it is where I thought I was ever heading.
I mean, I love music.
I always love music.
But, like, DJing started just me, like, having a little bit of fun.
And then I was asked to do West Hollywood Pride,
and it sort of exploded from there.
So that's what kind of started was.
I was just having fun.
Like, I didn't really think about it as anything above and beyond that, you know.
And now I'm having a lot of fun on stage with a lot of people.
But you're doing, like, cool shows.
You're partnered with really great organizations.
You've done pride and you're doing cool venues.
Yeah.
And we're donating back a portion of all ticket sales to Glad, which we did last year too.
That's a very important thing to me being philanthropic and, like I said, leaving this world a little bit better than I came into it.
I love it. I have a great time. It gives me life and energy.
It keeps you up. And to your point, like, I don't love, like, just going out and drinking at night and whatever. This is more fun for me. You know, you're like making the party. You know what I'm saying? So I'd rather be DJing, to be honest and, like, out somewhere. It's just more fun.
And you're right in the next. Well, I have a fun question for you. Who would be your, if you're going to be DJing Coachella next year? Meredith Marks, Sahara, Tent, Maine,
stage or whatever it might be, who's going to open for you, but they have to be from the Bravo
DJ family.
Oh.
Oh.
There's any other Bravo friends of ours that DJ also that you'd want to open for you.
I mean, I'd probably have Maddie Reese because she brought me on Southern Hospitality,
and I loved the story and the messaging she had for that.
And I'm not knocking any of the others because I love all of them.
Don't misunderstand.
We love Maddie.
Oh, screw you, Meredith.
Maddie's been on the pod.
She's DJed actually at softbar.
But she was, you know, she brought this whole story about like empowering female DJs.
And I just think that's really cool.
And to me, this is like a way that I can kind of would be able to give back to empower her like she did for me.
I love that.
And Maddie's, I mean, she's killing.
And her sober story is amazing.
Yeah.
You know, she got sober really young.
Yeah.
She shared a lot about on More Life.
And we had her come in and do a DJ set for a run club that we had.
So we'll have to.
Oh, that's amazing.
We'll get in touch with your social or your booking.
manager, maybe get Meredith here for a run club.
Love it.
Yes.
And maybe me and Maddie together.
Yes.
That would be fun.
Maybe a Bravo con next year.
Oh, I love that.
Are you going to be at Charleston fan fest?
No.
They didn't ask me.
They sent me to Australia instead.
Oh, you got to go to the cooler place.
I'm still trying to go to that.
No one gets to go everywhere, unfortunately.
When you told Seth about your DJ career, what was his first reaction?
He's super supportive, you know, and he loves it just as much.
He comes out.
out to, he doesn't come to all of my shows because he can't. It's like, it's a lot. But he tries to at least
come on the weekends and he loves it. Like, he has the best time. He, he has as much fun as I do.
I have just a few more questions for you. Well, two questions. What is giving you more life
right now? Second question, what is the song that is giving you more life right now?
So giving me more life right now would probably be DJing in general. The song, and are we talking
about something like just any song under the sun?
Any song on the sun?
Right now I would have to say when I have been playing like a prayer remix that I have like
as a tribute to Mary and it's really beautiful and I get kind of emotional every time I do it
and she loves that I obviously sent it to her and made sure she was happy with it before I did
it. But just because it has so much meaning and depth to it, that would definitely be the one out of
great. We'll have to put that in the show notes for that. I'm a big music fan too. So I, you know, Kyle
Cook is my resident Bravo bestie DJ, but I love music. I actually send him song suggestions
all the time. Oh, I love that. Because I try to give them new tracks. Well, Kyle could come open to
with Matt. We'll get Kyle. I know. I like them all. Like I said, but I do like the messaging.
of course, you know, that Maddie had surrounding it.
And, you know, I hate to, like, pick with the Bravo people
because I love all of them.
No, totally.
I mean, Dorenda D.
And they're all great.
Yeah, you got a whole, you know.
We got a whole slew of.
I love Durinda.
You know, that's the whole thing.
We need, like, one big, like a Bravo, like, warehouse night where it's like you,
Dorenda, Kyle, Maddie.
Oh, that would be fun.
But it's, like, ravey, like, vibes.
That would actually be really fun.
I'm going to pitch it to the, to the folks at that.
a bravo i love that idea that's actually a genius thing they would sell out they would definitely sell
out i would love that so in five years from now are you still going to be djing caviar housewise
you're still going to be doing all this is there anything you haven't done that you still want to do
oh there's plenty every day new things come up every day i mean i want to continue to talk to you
i really just love your story and everything you've been sharing on the show and just the motherhood
You're really impressive.
Thank you.
So, thank you for coming to More Life.
No, this was so much fun.
Thank you for having me.
You're one of, I think this is what,
my second housewife on?
Yeah, you're number two.
Who was number one?
Derinda came on.
I love Durinda, she's great.
She was with me in Australia.
She's so fun.
We had a lot of fun.
But you now are officially number two,
housewife on the More Life podcast.
So thank you.
That's fabulous.
I'm actually glad because I've gotten to know you
and I really appreciate everything you do.
So thank you.
