Starting point is 00:04:33 I didn't tell you. When my dad turned 72 weeks ago, I called him. The conversation lasted about six minutes because he was outside the restaurant about to go in for the birthday dinner. What do you think we talked about for four of those six minutes on his urging? I'm going to guess the breasts of a female fighter. It was all Dakota dish, all the time and I was like all right dad I know I follow her too we don't have to go down this road

All right. Shout out to all our Bonji
Starting point is 00:05:26 Brazilian fans out there. Let's turn the corner and get right into this show with topic numero uno for our Spanish fans. Hey, it's Canelo Crawford or Crawford Canelo fallout time. A little hangover from last weekend's super fight. We're talking ratings and we're talking
Starting point is 00:05:43 the future here. So after rewatching last Saturday's Crawford Canelo fight multiple times, I'm curious, is whether LTE's opinion of this fight has changed from the scoring to the performances of either boxer. And considering Canello reportedly holds a rematch clause and podcaster Bill Simmons of all people on Monday said on his podcast that a second fight is coming, although no one else has seemed to corroborate that report. LT, let's start right here. Is a Crawford-Kinello rematch warranted from any of the following standpoints,
Starting point is 00:06:16 competition, ratings, or even fan demand in your eyes? Warranted. Warranted's an interesting use of the word. I would say warranted, no. But the reality is plenty of rematches get made in boxing that are not warranted.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Some get made because they are, but if this one were to be made, it would not be because it's warranted. I mean, listen, you know, there are lots of people and everyone's got their own biases and there's lots of different perspectives. And when I was watching in real time i thought you know kind of tie goes to the runner right if a round is close the judges are just going to give it to canelo actually there's something to be said for that if if we
Starting point is 00:06:54 with that scoring 115 and 113 if bud doesn't really turn it on late he doesn't win that fight but of course he did and so it didn't matter but what i'm trying to make is upon my rewatch and upon my review bc for whatever that is worth bro this was not that close i mean the the reason why you can say it is close is what you what you might mean by that is bud didn't really beat canello up and if canela was ever able to really surge there wasn't enough ground between them for bud to necessarily you know um deny that but that never happened like bud dude dude's game plan in this fight was perfect i mean truly perfect how do we take away canello's weapons and then keep ourselves defensively safe so we don't have to take big
Starting point is 00:07:44 shots any more than might be required and they did it they did it like super well like dude Canelo was figured out in this fight quickly quickly but it was competitive it was close in a scoring standpoint maybe not visually it's close on the scores
Starting point is 00:08:00 but BC here's the difference Canello got figured out quickly and Canello never had an answer for bud there's a hit he had a couple of good rounds where he was able to land a little bit more, but he could never sustain it. He couldn't like what, this is what I'm trying to point out.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Like what did what did Bud do? Bud did a bunch of things. Partly he'd had, you know, lead foot dominance or lead foot position because sometimes it was inside, sometimes it was outside, but he took away the jab. We've talked about this already. He took away the jab of Canello, which forced Canello to go to those wide hooks where he had to step wide. So he's off balance throwing hooks to the outside and Bud ate him up on the inside.
Starting point is 00:08:39 He forced Canello to go wide and make these long leaps. by taking away his jab, and then he had an answer for every one of those things. What is the equivalent in this fight that Canello did that to Bud? It doesn't exist. The only real adjustment Canello made was with his jab completely gone, was going to the lead right hand in the middle rounds and finding a home for it. But, you know, the problem was but adjusted out of that as well. Yeah, quickly.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Yeah, Bud was one step ahead. All right, real quick, I scored at 8-4 in the stadium. Rewatch, I had at 8-4 for Crawford. I just switched a couple of those very close rounds. in either direction. Same score in the end. I know you've watched it multiple times. You've got a highly appreciated review of this fight
Starting point is 00:09:22 in terms of the style and the technique of Bud on your YouTube channel. Did your score change? 9-3. I can give, I mean, I think round five is probably Canelo's best. There was a couple of the ones you could throw in there for sure. But that's about it, dude. Like this, but, bud, you know, again,
Starting point is 00:09:39 Bud didn't beat Canello up. That didn't happen. And this was not, you know, and I'm not saying that anyone doesn't know, but this was nothing like the Errol Spence fight in that sense. But in terms of like a game of chess, not that close, not that close. And so for that reason, is there a ton of fan demand? I mean, to answer the question you asked at the beginning, is it warranted no? However, BC, I think you'd probably agree with this. In the end, what matters is what Canella will do, partly because you mentioned that he has that rematch clause,
Starting point is 00:10:08 or he could just come out and try and make the public case for it. I want another crack at it. I want to do it again. Blah, blah, blah. He could make an argument for it, in which case, it'll happen. And it'll probably do at least decently well at the box office. But if you're a Canelo fan, what are you hanging on to as a sign that this was something he could do better in the second time? Honestly, I think Bud routes him even worse the second time.
Starting point is 00:10:29 And the other part, too, BC is if Canello now he had, I mean, not that the belts were ever a real impediment because the sanctioning body's never made him and forced the mandatories all that much. But now that there's no belts and he's older, he just made it. ton of money, right? Just fight Jake Paul. I mean, I don't even want the Jake Paul fight. I'd rather than fight Shiraz. I think I could make some fun matchups and Bealey if he gets past Lester Martinez in the rematch.
Starting point is 00:10:54 But we'll see what happens. I agree. I think ultimately we'll get into the ratings in a second. I think it could have been actually promoted better the first time. I think the profile of this fight actually got raised because the fight was so entertaining and because of Bud's historic performance. So if they go in that direction, if they all, Offer Crawford, something closer to the A-side money that Canello received.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I wonder if we do see it again if Netflix believes that the ratings were worth it a second time. Let's quickly hear from Terrence Crawford, who Monday night was brought in on Monday night football at Allegiance Stadium. Turk Al-Sheek also made an appearance there signing Tom Brady for this touch butt in the Park Football League. We got coming up for $75 million. Here's Terrence Crawford with ESPN Mexico when he's asked directly about a rematch. A rematch, Canelo Crawford, do you think it'll happen? Do you think it'll happen? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:45 We shall see. What would have to happen? I don't know. You know, right now I'm, you know, talking with my team, and, you know, I'm only two days fresh off of a fight. I'm just going to go home, relax. I got a birthday in two weeks and just going to enjoy my victory for now. Yeah, I think what he's kind of saying is if you show me the money, if you want to do this really big a second time, I'd be down for it. Let's see if the competitor in Canelo believes that he can win it.
Starting point is 00:12:14 He thought after that BVol loss that he could win it. He wanted to run it back right away. We'll find out. Quick look at the punch stats of that fight, just to further tell the story of who won this. 165 to 132, Bud had the overall advantage. You see the more attempts. But LT, you know that we always talk about that 40% power punches landed. If you landed at least 40%, you've probably won the fight. First of all, to show you. show how high level this fight was Canello landed just shy of 50% of his power punches. But dude,
Starting point is 00:12:45 56% from Bud? Holy shit, man, right? Dude. Good Lord. Again, up three. I don't care. They can call it two. It's up three weight classes. That kind of accuracy on your power. Dude, that's just, it's unheard of. It's on our, we're pretty
Starting point is 00:13:01 close to goddamn unheard of. It's just a level of, again, it wasn't domination in the sense of punishment. No. But it was domination in the sense of a game of strategic chess in boxing. That it was, and you can see that the stats speak to that reality. All right, let's talk about the impact and the results we've heard statistically about the event. Netflix reporting that this was, quote, the most viewed men's championship boxing match of the century. Now, there's certainly some qualifiers in there, but let's
Starting point is 00:13:31 look at the raw numbers in this tweet. We know that the gate is the third highest in boxing history. The attendance of over 70,000 was the most in Las Vegas boxing history, also in a Legion Stadium record. We knew about the purses of both gentlemen, equaling 200 million overall. But, Luke, the numbers everybody are focusing on are this. 25 million concurrent viewers during the main event, which is compared to 65 million for Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. 41 million viewers worldwide overall, half of those were in the United States compared to
Starting point is 00:14:05 $108 million for Tyson Paul. If you want to compare that to Taylor Serrano 3, which was the third Netflix card, that did 6 million views overall. I know there's been some in the media, front office sports had a story about this, a couple other places that some people are accusing Netflix of counting these numbers in a very not shameful, but maybe slightly disingenuous way. But that argument aside, because we're both not experts on how these numbers are collected. Is it fair to call this fight a success looking at those numbers or is it too early in the streaming era and kind of impossible to compare this fight or these three Netflix cards to, let's say, Mayweather Packia out, which set a pay-per-viewed North American record, but we have no idea with illegal streaming and the numbers from the countries around the world, how many people actually watch this?
Starting point is 00:14:59 When you hear $41 million for Canello Crawford, given all the money in the pop and circumstance, do you call this a success for Netflix, Turkey, and TKO? You said the concurrent number was $25 million? Yes. So to me, that's all you really need to hear. I mean, look, for example, right? So Canello, sorry am I saying, Mayweather Packia, we were there.
Starting point is 00:15:22 You know, that was at the MGM Grand. It was a very small venue, but the charging of the tickets was extraordinary. This was the stadium. you know imagine what mayweather packia would have been at a stadium because they would have sold it out and it would have been extraordinary they didn't do that they they kept it at the casino or you know like for example pick anything else at at um team mobile team mobile is also an arena it's not a stadium so i think that that gate is amazing but you know you could make the argument hey well okay but they're at a stadium like that makes it a little bit different in terms of just you know what is even economically possible given the scale of how big the audience is um that's true and yes could they could netflix have fudged some of their numbers that maybe as well. Do 25 million concurrent understand something? That's a, that's a, that's a, you know, I mean, obviously big time NFL games,
Starting point is 00:16:10 particularly playoffs can do upwards of 40 million and the Super Bowl upwards of 100. You know, it's not that. But 25 million is, you know, certainly in the ballpark and I think it even a decent range of an NFL game. And if you're not for the United States, you might not appreciate this. The NFL is the most popular sport here, or football. American football by a country mile. Dude, if you can put on a fight that can draw $50 million at the gate and you can do numbers
Starting point is 00:16:37 on par with an NFL game, how is that anything other than a success? We used to talk for years. That's way bigger than an NFL game, Luke. This is on par with like big NFL playoff games in history. Well, I've seen NFL playoff games do upwards of $40 million. So it's not that. But, but yeah, but this is what I'm talking about. Like this is, this is a good rating for the NFL.
Starting point is 00:16:57 This is a good rating for the NFL. $25 million concurrent is a good rating for the NFL. How is that anything other than a success? There are questions to be asked. Are there bigger matchups you could put on that would do bigger numbers, potentially even Tank versus Jake? Yes, that's there. You can have some questions about was this fight promoted as fully or as interestingly
Starting point is 00:17:14 as it needed to be? And I think there are some criticisms you could make. I don't think we talked about it on Fight Week that the promotion felt all the way there and then halfway there. It was weird feeling. It was, you know, they were clearly doing something, but it didn't feel like Mayweather Pacquiao and it didn't feel. feel like even Mayweather-Kinello, to be honest with you, in terms of how the promotion went.
Starting point is 00:17:32 But nevertheless, look at the numbers. Do 25 million concurrent on Netflix is a guaranteed winner. I would be shocked if they look at that and think anything other than chiching. I don't have a problem with it, and I seriously doubt Netflix does either. Yeah, I mean, it's hard to quote it the way that Netflix did. What did I have as the quote? The most viewed men's championship boxing match of the century. Because, again, the really big pay-per-views, the Mayweather McGregors, the Mayweather-Packiaws,
Starting point is 00:17:57 the Mayweather Canellos, the Mayweather de La Jolla's. I don't know if all four of those which stood over two million North American buys, you just don't know how many people were actually watching that worldwide. But to say that we're in an era when there's enough money behind the scenes from Turkey and Netflix to not have to put a fight like this on pay-per-view, to literally have three-fourths of our country having access to it, yeah, it feels like a big win. It's not going to do Tyson-Paul numbers because it's not Mike Tyson. and it's not the circus element of a middle-aged man.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Let's close here. We did debate potential Crawford next opponents, whether it's a Canelo rematch, whether it's retirement, whether it's go down the middleweight to try to get a title in a sixth weight class. We seem to skip over the idea of Crawford versus Benavides. I want to get your take on whether we should skip over that
Starting point is 00:18:46 or whether if David can come down to 68, that is a thing that could happen. Now, Beaumack was asked after the fight, and he's like, no, absolutely not. I found this interesting clip of Crawford before the fight talking with the Pound-for-Pound show, Suhudo and Usman, explaining why in his eyes it would never be realistic. Would you ever entertain a fight with their Benavides? You know. I got to understand.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I got to ask you, bro, because I can't, you know? My thing is, Benavides is a big dude. Not to say I won't fight him. I fought his brother. His brother was big when I fought him. The only reason why I entertained Canelo is because he's not a big dude. He might be thick, but he's not a big dude. Benevita is like six foot something.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Then he'll come in, 190, 100, probably. You know what I mean? You never know. That's a big dude. And he's skilled. I might as well go to heavyweight if I fight Benavita. Yeah. I understand what you're looking at.
Starting point is 00:19:43 You're like, you know what? You just size them up. You just size them up, especially when you're going into a bigger weight class like that, you size them up and you see your advantages. Now, look, that was before the fight. I'm not asking you if he will fight him or if he should because it's Bud's decision. He's made so much history that if he wants to retire, no one's going to blink an eye. But you watched what he did to Canello multiple times now.
Starting point is 00:20:05 At 168 pounds, do you think he could beat David Benavitas if enough money was put on the table for that fight to be possible? No, I think David Benavitas eventually marches him down. Again, there's a big question if he can even make it to 68 and whether or not that's even a good idea. let's just assume that he could. I just think that, dude, David Benavides is a wall. He's taking punchers from much, punches, excuse me, from much bigger guys and just marches them down. And, you know, listen, maybe Bud could make it close.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Maybe Bud could last the full 12. He doesn't get stopped. I could believe that. Again, he's got pretty good, really good defense. But just the offensive firepower of David Benavides, I just think is way too much at this point. So, you know, listen, you could make the argument. Oh, is Bud cherry picking who he wanted to fight at 68?
Starting point is 00:20:51 I mean, yeah, in a sense, he is, right? Like, I mean, he picked the guy with all the belts, but the guy with all the belts happen to be just the right kind of size for this thing to be possible. But you can see that like a 68 campaign falls apart pretty quickly. Now, if he holds onto the belts, well, then the sanctioning bodies have to force what they have to force. But, you know, Benavides doesn't have anything at 68 and in more business at 68.
Starting point is 00:21:10 So there's no mandatory forcing him in that direction either. So, no, I don't think it's a necessary thing. Not to mention that the guy, the bigger man that Crawford just beat it, was shaming. endlessly ducking better viz. So, yeah, there you go. Now to fully close on this category about Canello, our boy, Oscar De La Jolla chimed in on Clapback Thursday. We're not going to play the whole thing. We're not going to watch the whole thing. Are we like four minutes?
Starting point is 00:21:34 He dunks on everybody from Canello to Dana White. But here's the specific Canello part. You knew Oscar was going to chime in. It's time for the only segment in boxing. That gives you the facts and makes you laugh. It's Clapback Thursdays. Got it. It makes me horny. Yeah, baby. To tell you, I told you so. I told you!
Starting point is 00:21:56 I predicted the Conello Crawford fight like a goddamn fortune teller. You're the Oracle? Conello's feet were cemented on the canvas as he was hitting air. What the fuck was that? Props to Crawford. Thank you. He came up three weight classes and fought a beautiful fight. Good job.
Starting point is 00:22:14 What a great performance. Did you get what she was looking for? Like taking candy from a baby. My candy! He just played with Canelo, made him look silly. And before you start with your shade about Conello being old, just know that Crawford is older. I'm too old.
Starting point is 00:22:30 That's not an excuse here. Look, I promoted Conello's entire career. Put some fucking respect on it. And it was a huge fluff. How do you like them, man? The only real fighters he's faced were Mayweather, Bebole, and Crawford, and they all toyed with him. Even Mayweather knew Crawford was going to school him.
Starting point is 00:22:50 He put $50,000 on Crawford to win. Look pretty salty there. Is there any truth seeds in what Oskar is saying? A little bit. A little bit, a little bit. I mean, definitely the feat being planted. We knew that, you know, he's been being a little bit older. But, you know, I mean, there's fair criticisms to make of Canelo and we've made them.
Starting point is 00:23:11 But Oscar's just dunking on a rival or a former friend or a former business partner or whatever you want to say. Like, there's no way to, again, the argument. arguments are what they are, but he's just filled with personal animus, and we should be very clear about that. I mean, this is shameless. I'm not, you don't believe me. Like, like I got upset when Turkey dunked on Tim Zoo there, which I felt was over the top. This is another category because it's Oscar, because he's always in a shameless other category. All right, Canello Crawford DeBeth, but let's go to topic number two. I don't really want to talk about this, but a lot of people are. So let's just get through it. Ilya, or Toporia, as Connor McGregor would say. continues to try to be Terrence Crawford's next boxing opponent. And Luke, considering Tuporia as the pound for pound king in MMA and UFC's biggest star, I don't think he's anywhere near the fame that Connor McGregor was when he started a campaign for Floyd Mayweather in 2016.
Starting point is 00:24:07 That was also before this crossover circus boxing bonanza bubble was launched. So shouldn't Ilya, I don't know, be better than the constant. shameless whoring he's doing attempting to lure Terrence Crawford into a boxing match? Yeah, he seems oblivious to a lot of things. It's quite remarkable. I
Starting point is 00:24:34 mean, I sort of get why MMA fighters would do it. Like there's this financial component right, where you're like, oh, if you get this fight, how big would it be? Okay, there's that. And then there's the component of a lot of them are completely delusional about what their skill set is and how
Starting point is 00:24:50 good it is relative to you know top boxer so they think oh i could really do i could i could do something in there you know so there's a bit of delusion in the financials yeah all right come come on this is this is why i try to explain to people and i mean you know we're not it's not july 2023 anymore and we're not at 147 but when bud destroyed and i truly i mean he hasn't fought since when when bud destroyed spence spence had never been knocked down was undefeated and was on the pound for pound list like the notion that the dude just think about this do you think teporea could survive against spence because i don't i don't think that i think spence would light his ass up and look what bud did to him like what the fuck are we talking about you know dana often poohs these things and sometimes
Starting point is 00:25:36 in a way where it's like okay but you know listen just be real are there certain is there a certain market for freak show fights there always has been and there always will be is there a market for crossover fights once in a while. Of course. You know, Tyson Fury versus Francis Inganu, I think we all got a little something out of that. It can happen. It ain't happening with Bud Crawford. I mean, let's just, what a complete waste of everyone's time. Lalienda just fought at 145 like a minute ago. Crawford just beat the best 68 pounder not named Benavitas in the world. Well, I guess Benavitas ain't at 68 anymore. But like, what are we doing here, bra? Come on. Have some self-respect. You know, like everyone was like, oh, we hate Tupori. We find
Starting point is 00:26:17 him annoying i'm starting to understand i'm starting i'm starting to get hip hop horns yes please it's like it's like you know again you i i mean if you cover the fight game long enough you live through all of this dude you remember all those weeks and it didn't last that long but it definitely was an attempt by kamar usman to be like oh yeah i'm going to get that canello fight you know what i mean and Jorge masvedal was looking for that canello fight like you know this is one of those things now that just kind of pops up every now and again uh and it's it it just stays dumb it stays dumb like i don't know what dude just fight islam just fight islam you don't have to do anything else just
Starting point is 00:27:00 fight it worry about islam's got something worried about him or whoever they got next right hey how about just fight like three times because you're at the point where you're about to be a global phenomenon become that first before you you start doing this all right we remember the back and forth between them here is bud crawford on monday is Ariel Hawani show, responding to that. I'm not worried about that guy at all. To be honest, I never even seen his dude fight. I didn't even know who he was.
Starting point is 00:27:27 When he's seen me at the UFC, he came up and shook my hand. I said, what's up to me? He didn't even know who he was. I see him online talking about here, knock me out. Well, if you wanted to fight me, you had an opportunity to tell me like, hey, man, I want to fight you. What's up? That's fate.
Starting point is 00:27:43 I'm not going to go hide behind, you know, the keyboard and call I knocked this dude out this and that I and this I definitely think he's trying to cloud chase I think he'll definitely get in the ring for the right check that's what we all do it for it but at the same time I don't know what the fuck is that
Starting point is 00:28:01 oh no what do you think of this way you know I will ain't even nothing to talk about you have interest in fighting him for what what money what money would I get out of fighting him tell me how much I'm gonna get out of fighting him
Starting point is 00:28:16 Floyd made a lot, obviously, to fight Connor. He's not nowhere near on the level of Connor McGregor. Let's be real, stop it. Don't ever compare him to Connor. Connor was here. He's here. Like I said, I don't know this guy. I never seen this guy fight.
Starting point is 00:28:34 And I watch a lot of MMA. You know what I mean? Maybe, you know what I mean? I'm slipping. Maybe he's a good fighter. You know what I mean? I don't know. But I honestly never seen this guy fight for sure.
Starting point is 00:28:45 I've seen Connor McGregor fight. A lot of times. It's not in the money. I think he's right, Luke, on the money. I mean, Bud just made between 40 and 50 million against Canelo. If they do a rematch, you got to believe he's going to get upwards of 75, 80, most likely, right? Because he won the first fight. If he does any fight with Turkey right now, he's probably going to get way more than even a Netflix freak show, Teporia Bud fight.
Starting point is 00:29:09 Let's just stop talking about it. Here's Teporia's reaction to that interview. Oh, God, I can't read it. Where are my glasses? Luke, can you read that shit? Yeah. You say you're an MMA fan, but you don't even know who I am. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:29:22 The first time we met, you told me good luck this week with your fight. Your memory fails you. And soon your chin will. Oh, God. Soon your chin will too. I'll represent the entire M.M.A. community pound for pound number one in real fights versus the pound for pound buck. Dude, this whole thing where like MMA is a real fight.
Starting point is 00:29:37 If it's a real fight, then why are the referees and rules, motherfucker? Like, just get the fuck out of here with this shit. Luckily for Dana, the best thing he's, said last week was this right here one last one for you dana you're now officially promoting boxing shows we have ufc lightweight champion ilia tipporia saying he's going to knock out terence crawford can we expect some crossover boxing matches like you did with mayweather mcgregor moving forward i certainly hope not that was awesome that that's my attitude too i certainly hope not yeah there is one more thing to say about this fight however and it was said
Starting point is 00:30:21 by shakur stevenson who was also on ariel hawani show this week and i think it was up to the level where we got to bring in quervo here for a little bit of shots fired and this shots fired Brought to you by Cuervo. Now is a good time to enjoy the tequila that invented tequila. Here's Shakur talking about Bud versus Toporia, but not just in boxing.
Starting point is 00:30:49 I've kind of seen a picture of Bud dabbing him up before Bud was going to his workout or leaving his workout. I think them guys got to leave Bud alone. I think Bud Crawford is just different. In a boxing ring with him, bro, you're not going to last more than one round, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:31:05 You bet off saying UFC, like, But it's a guy that I wouldn't be surprised if he gets in the UFC and beat the shit out of some guys, too, because he got a great wrestling background. I don't see him wrestling, real wrestlers, like real wrestlers on some everyday shit. Because Bud looked bigger than that guy. He got longer arms. I wouldn't be surprised. Come fight night.
Starting point is 00:31:25 If they do an MMA fight, if Bud doesn't knock him out of sleep or choked him to death, I just wouldn't be surprised. Wow. All right. Slow your roll a bit, Shakur, but I did kind of like the he'll beat you. you out boxing and MMA. Yeah, I'll tell you this. If there is a guy who could do, I mean, it's too late now, obviously, but if there's a guy who's got the profile to do MMA from boxing, it's Bud Crawford. I mean, we've all known that who's got a wrestling background, phenomenal
Starting point is 00:31:48 athlete, but more than that, a master strategist, you know, he's just, he's a special character. But, like, dude, what are we doing? Like, there are interesting fights for bud in boxing, and there's plenty of interesting fights for Ilya and MMA. That's good enough for me, B.C. It's good enough for me. Yeah, I'm with you. And if you want more of Quervo and Morning Combat, well, get ready. UFC 320 is right around the corner. How about Friday, October 3rd? One day before UFC 320, your boys in MK morning combat will be given you a pregame preview live from New York City.
Starting point is 00:32:19 And guess who our third man will be, Luke? Well, the answer is, are we going to get lye? Or the question is, rather, are we going to get lice? Yes, yes, we will. But I think it'll be worth it when Jed Mishue, the second, makes his return to the studio. Let's go. All right. booked ready to go. Let's get fired up right there. Thank you, Cuervo. No more talking about
Starting point is 00:32:42 La Leenda. Let's go to topic number three. Hey, this could be a continuation of fights that people don't want. It's up to your decision on there. Let's talk Jake Paul versus Gervante Tank Davis. Now, most valuable promotions withdrew their request for permits with the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission this week for the aforementioned crossover circus exhibition match after Chairman Rick Thompson told USA Today that MVP was, quote, attempting to promote something they should not have been. Instead, MVP announced that the Friday, November 14th next Netflix fight will now take place in Miami at the Kasea Center. And there are even more rumors out there that the promotion might be trying to actually get this commissioned as an actual
Starting point is 00:33:27 fight and not an exhibition, one that would count for real on both records. Luke, considering the state of Georgia's decision, is this a bad idea, a really bad idea to continue on with this fight? Or should we wake up that maybe this fight brings the opportunity for some circus fun for as long as it lasts provided nobody gets hurt? I'll say this. I understand why the Georgia Athletic Commission doesn't want any part of this. They don't see it as a reasonable ask by a promoter. They don't see it as a worthwhile exercise of the sport. And they don't want to be in charge of this kind of a thing.
Starting point is 00:34:13 And I understand and respect that. You know, BC, you and I live, I mean, there's been many examples of such, but this is what they call commission shopping where, you know, you go to a commission and they say no. So you're just like, well, screw it. I'm just going to go to a place that, you know, doesn't regulate at the same kind of level. and that would be Texas or Florida. Sure enough, they ended up in Florida. In that sense, it's not surprising. For example, when Pachial Margarito was made, they tried to do it in New York, and New York was like, yeah, we're not licensing Margarito. So they just took it to Jerry's world in Texas. I mean, that's exactly what happened, because they wouldn't license them due to an eye injury, and they just took them to Texas. Like, this kind of thing happens all the time. So, you know, there's precedent for this. And, you know, BC, am I really expecting some kind of disaster in this? fight like when i say disaster i mean i'm not a question of is the fight good or bad but rather like am i expecting some kind of god forbid medical emergency or some kind of you know um otherwise
Starting point is 00:35:14 disreputable thing other than the fact that this is an insane mismatch both in skill on one end and size on the other no but i can understand why georgia would say look there's an insane mismatch on skill on one end and size on the other especially if you want on the professional record we don't want any part of this but we live in a federal system so you can just take your show to a place that doesn't have those concerns and that's exactly what we got this could have been tachi palace's gift from dana but i guess they didn't make that phone call it's coming no no no no no don't the the show at tachi palace is like that dad that went out for cigarettes and then never came back you know what i mean between them. Jake Paul weighed 199.4 pounds in his victory over Chavez, Jr. back in June. Tank Davis weighed 133.8
Starting point is 00:36:07 pounds in his March draw with Lamont Roach Jr. The size difference is also wide, but you wouldn't know it by the new poster. Let's take a look at it. GTA style, Luke, they're the same height. Look at that. First of all, first of all, that doesn't even look like Tank. BC, by the way,
Starting point is 00:36:23 the guy I'm about to say got signed by top rank yesterday. DC's own Scooter Davis. He looks like Scooter Davis in this pick. He kind of does. It looks like random create an African American fighter on a video game. Yeah. I mean, they've got tanks tattoos. They got that part, but the rest of it, I'm not so sure. The Nikisa Badarian would give an interview to ESPN in response to Georgia's decision. He would say, quote, unfortunately, we made the decision to withdraw the event from Georgia after several interviews conducted by Commissioner Rick Thompson, who seems to have a personal
Starting point is 00:36:55 agenda publicly misrepresenting the facts and undermining what was set to be a massive event for Atlanta featuring multiple world championship outs and the launch of efforts to revitalize world class boxing in Georgia and quote early world class boxing I mean I grant BC I grant it would have been an economic boon for the city I don't deny that I don't deny that but world class boxing Nikisa, what in the fuck are you talking about? Well, brunch boxing has reported that the undercard will be largely filled with PBC fighters, so we know that a lot of PBC fighters could use dates, so maybe there's some good that will come there.
Starting point is 00:37:36 Early offshore odds are Jake Paul plus 195, Tank Davis minus 280. Bro, the question about this fight is, could Jervante really lose this fight? And the answer is yes. Yes, he could. Not because he's on... Do you think that if they make it a real fight, that will act in a non-exhibition, that will actually make them fight at 100%.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Well, here's the problem. I think Dervantes kind of checked out. So what you have to ask yourself is, does he care about losing if the check is massive, right? Let's, I'm going to make something up. I don't know what it is, B.C., but I'm going to make up that he gets 50 million from this. If he gets 50 million from this, like,
Starting point is 00:38:19 does he care? I don't know if he cares anymore. Jervante gave his first statement this week related to this fight. Here's the little call out here. Quote, Jake Paul has been cherry picking in the sport of boxing for a while now, but he picked the wrong opponent this time. He better start losing some weight, chasing some chickens, and pray that helps him some on fight night.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Thank you to Netflix for giving the opportunity to whoop this clown, end quote. I want to play a quick clip from a guy who has been making the rise lately in the boxing talking headspace. they call him two-tone the superstar and luke you kind of you love this guy no i'm i'm i'm a big showbiz uh fan showbiz the adult but i've been i started following uh two-tone because he's hilarious i got to say i align with his take right here um after after we get a big fight like terence bud crawford and um sewell canelo alvarez on the highest level on netflix It's boxing just seems like ill.
Starting point is 00:39:22 It seems like nasty. It seems disgusting. It's not even something that we want to go ahead and talk about, something that we don't even want to go ahead and pay attention to. If you want to keep it real, you want to keep it 100. I say that respectfully. But in closing this fight is musty at the highest level. Look, he would go on to say it's empty calories after that steak dinner we had there with.
Starting point is 00:39:48 Bro, but here's the problem. But here's the problem. it's like yeah first of all i agree like you go from like the genius of bud crawford to jake paul you know it's like i mean it's hard to think of a bigger downgrade but the the reality is that fight's not made for two-tone the superstar you know what i mean it's not made for showbiz the adult it's not made for brian campbell and it sure as fuck isn't made for me it's made for donks it's made for the public at large it's made for the people who don't watch boxing and well oh i'll oh jake paul's fighting this other dude and maybe they've heard of them maybe
Starting point is 00:40:24 they haven't but it's like that that's that's the appeal like it's not made for us and so once you understand it like yeah they're making big fights in boxing and they're using a relevant figure in gervante this is all for a completely different audience and that's kind of why it sucks for us as two tones famous sound drop would say my mama mama musty energy luke i agree yeah there we go he always plays that chila killease drop too yeah yeah guys also All right, let's go to topic number four, the road to UFC Vancouver on October 18th. Oh, boy, we got a flat tire there. We got to update a new main event.
Starting point is 00:41:01 And oh, by the way, this UFC Vancouver Road 2 breakdown brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC. Get unlimited data that won't slow you down. Shout out to our friends of Total Wireless. Luke, the main event of what is a loaded UFC Fight Night Vancouver card on October 18th. It took a disappointing hit when Anthony Fluffy Hernandez pulled out of the main event against Rainier de Ritter with an injury. Rival, at least a rival of Fluffy, Brendan Allen, will replace him against RDR in the main event.
Starting point is 00:41:33 Remember, this was an unofficial semi-final that Dana set up after Nasrida, or before Nasr Dene and Mavav defeated Kyle Boholio. The best performance of the two fights would get the first shot at Hamzat Chimayev. So, Luke, does this opponent downgrade in your eyes actually? remove the opportunity for RDR to secure that first shot at Tchamayev, thus kind of automatically elevating Imov to the top spot. If you're Nasredini Mavov, you have to like this development because A, you already won, convincingly, not like spectacularly, but definitely convincingly. And the biggest threat to that being upset was probably, we think, Fluffy Hernandez, just based
Starting point is 00:42:16 on the style in which he fights and the things he can do. Now, we didn't know that, but that was a guess. And that fight now being essentially off. I mean, I know there's a replacement in Brendan Allen, but that particular fight being off can only boost his chances. However, what I would say is one of the things that's made RDR special, particularly on the come-up, and I mean, to an extent you've seen UFC 2, is his capacity for surprise and for his own kind of spectacular ways to advance a fight or finish a fight. He's very, very good about doing that. And so, for example, bc and we make up something if he were to finish brendan allen you know not super quickly but you know within the first two rounds or something three rounds at most and do it in the same way he beat
Starting point is 00:43:00 vatali big dash which is like this inverted triangle that he got kind of out of nowhere i think from like side control i forget i have to go back and look at exactly how we got it but like an inverted triangle which was like this completely out of nowhere you know snatching something up like that I think he could advance his interest. He's on a hot streak. He says yes. He didn't finish Robert Whitaker, but he's finishing a bunch of guys,
Starting point is 00:43:24 blah, blah, blah. The problem that he runs into is even if he does that, you still might be able to argue, okay, fine, RDR's win was spectacular, and I would rather see him fight Hamzot. But then Imovov could even just respond, okay, but who has a better resume for this? Who has a better contendorship resume to merit the title shot?
Starting point is 00:43:45 and he's got a very, very good one. So I think the chances that it's going to be Imovov to get the title shot have gone up exponentially in no small part because even with a win, RDR is still kind of up against it. However, however, I still do believe that if RDR does RDR things, he's got a real shot at it. I firmly, firmly believe that. It really just depends on what you're going to get. But B.C. Brendan Allen likes to take it to the ground and fades over the course of time.
Starting point is 00:44:12 It's a five-round main event. there's a RDR's got a shot here he really still does I mean I think the thing that would help RDR the most there's two things one he's kind of fell into being a company man this year because he just keeps fighting every two months it seems like two if he gets a you know spectacular submission win I think people believe and maybe the UFC matchmakers do that he would have a better chance of beaten Shemayev than imov did imov previously wasn't looked at as a marketable guy I'm not saying now suddenly he is. I think seeing him in Paris with the crowd going nuts certainly helped, but who knows if they would put that fight in Paris. I just, it just feels disappointing
Starting point is 00:44:51 based upon I like the unique nature of this sort of unofficial semi-finals that they created. So it's just, it had a playoff feel. This loses that playoff feel. Now, the 29-year-old Brendan Allen had that seven-fight win streak a year ago, but that snapped in September of last year when he lost the first of back-to-back decisions, the first against him of Av, the second against Anthony Fluffy Hernandez in their rematch. He did bounce back in July of this year to take a three-round decision from Marvin Vittori.
Starting point is 00:45:20 So that's where we're at with that. The early... Let me say this real quickly, if I can, B.C. Here's what I would argue for fans. Is this a downgrade in both stakes and, frankly, as a fight? Yes. There's just no argument.
Starting point is 00:45:37 it's a downgrade if for no other reason even if you're a big fan of brendan allen he's coming in on short notice you know i mean it's not even necessarily about it the world we're just trying to we're trying to we're trying to shit on brendan allen like he he also is coming in in less than ideal circumstances for his own case but i'm how is this going to be a bad fight like like brendan allen brings the fight sometimes he makes mistakes but he likes to advance the attack and rdr loves to fight guys like that i have a very hard time seeing how this fight such sucks, a very hard time. Yeah, I'm not saying I'm going that far by any means. I'm just saying that this card in Vancouver, which is still strong, that was a nice, you know, sort of crown on top
Starting point is 00:46:18 it takes a hit. You're still going to get Kevin Holland, Mike Malat. You're still going to get Cheeto Vera versus Amin Zahabi. Manon Faroe against Jasmine, Jazz DeViscius. There's a couple other matchups and names on that undercard worth caring about. I like when they load up fight nights. I really do. It's sort of that old school quarterly UFC on Fox feel. Uh, early odds for this new main event, um, not Jermaine de Ritter. That'd be Jermaine Durand to me. How about RDR minus 175, Brendan Allen plus 140? Look, that's a little surprising considering the run RDRs on, right?
Starting point is 00:46:51 Yeah, that is a little surprising. I'm a little surprised by that. At the same time, dude, you know, listen, Brendan Allen has some limits, some known limits, but he's got some abilities too, you know, and he pursues the fight. and I respect that kind of a fighting style. He's got very good grappling. So the thing that makes me, like, I think that these odds are a little off
Starting point is 00:47:15 is because it's five rounds and he's coming in on short notice, what happens if the fight goes long? But for as long as he's got energy, that's a competitive fight. I do believe that. RDR 4 and O in the 10 months since he joined the UFC
Starting point is 00:47:27 with stoppage wins over GM3, Kevin Holland, and Boe Nickel before that breakthrough split decision win over former champion Robert Whitaker in July. One more thing I wanted to bring up here. We got a statement from Fluffy Hernandez regarding the pullout on Instagram. As you've all probably seen, unfortunately, I had to pull out of my upcoming fight due to injury. I want to sincerely apologize to the UFC to my opponent and to everyone who's looking forward to.
Starting point is 00:47:51 He thanks Brendan Allen for stepping in. He says right now my focus is I'm getting healthy so I can come back stronger. Luke, I couldn't confirm this, but a lot of critical people on Twitter are saying this is Fluffy's sixth pullout in the last four. years. That almost sounds like you in college after you finally joined that frat and girls would talk to you. Is that bad luck or just completely unacceptable behavior? Without knowing the circumstances, it's hard to say. I think that many pullouts might ask some questions about how you're maintaining your body. At the same time, it might ask some questions about how you train. At the same time, it might ask some questions about not everyone has the same level of durability and you know there
Starting point is 00:48:37 might be some questions about long-term potential to even do this if that is true anybody but i would need to verify the circumstances of this people say shit on the internet like he's pulled out blah blah blah and then you look at it's like well you know sort of yes no i mean not great certainly but but not fatal yet you know all right i'll say this real quick it is on his topology he has pulled out a six in the last two years but two years good ward all right well chris kris curtis pulled out of their fight so we're not going to fault him for that he did pull out of his roman coppelov fight uh ikram alisgarov pulled out against him so that also wasn't his fault uh roman delides hernandez got injured uh michel pareda just as bout rescheduled and r d rdr he got injured so
Starting point is 00:49:23 like most of them weren't even his fault i don't blame that's what i mean like dude it's probably some questions to be asked about how he's doing his stuff, but I'm not, I'm not ready to sound the alarm just yet. You know what I mean? Also, to have note the September 28th UFC Perth Fight Night Card, which has, of course, a main event of Carlos Oldberg, and Dominic Reyes lost its co-main event when the junior taffa, Ebo, Aslan, light heavyweight bout was pulled due to injury. Jimmy Crew versus Ivan Erslan is now your co-feature. Luke, this card kind of sucks the horn, right? Kind of? Main event has a little bit of value. I tell you what, bro. If Reyes comes back and beats Oldberg, that's one of the more miraculous career turnarounds I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:50:07 So you've got to do it first, but that would, I tell you what, on that level alone, I am keenly interested in how that fight goes. Win or lose black jag is going to bang after. I'll tell you that much. Shout out to all of Long Island Luke's relatives there on that, on that massive island of Australia. Thank you very much. According to Dana White,
Starting point is 00:51:59 this will air live and free on CBS. And as we stand right now, I'm starting to get the feeling like maybe this could be more than just a novelty event, maybe similar to the sphere. This could be a chance to be seriously one of the most unique and potentially memorable cards in UFC's history
Starting point is 00:52:18 if they do it right. First, let's hear Dana White, who was on the Logan Paul impulsive podcast, giving us some of the, the new details about what this card can look like. I mean, even people in other countries would want to say, and the way that we're doing this thing, like, let's say
Starting point is 00:52:34 this is goofy, but this is the octagon, right? We're building this arch, almost like the St. Louis arch, like this, and the lighting grid will go above the octagon. So when we shoot this fight, right, this whole backdrop will be the White House. And then when the cameras move over and fights this way, It's all the Washington Monument, the monument on this side.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Then there's a park that's sort of connected to the White House and we'll have 85,000 people there with big screens. And we're going to do concerts. We're going to do UFC X there. We're going to take over D.C. the whole week. Wow. We're buying an island. Luke, they're going to take over your city. 85,000 people.
Starting point is 00:53:19 I got to believe that's the Elypsies Park. But let me just ask you this straight up what I touched on earlier. we look back at the sphere card while it did have title fights i could think we look at it look at it more as a one time only unique gimmick do you think considering this will be live and free on cbs and considering the political sort of you know USA pride attached to it politics aside i'm not here to talk about jimmy kimball do you think this could end up being one of the most unique and memorable cards in the company's history i mean again we don't have to have it now and i'm not going to have it now there is an angle of politics here that does have to be interrogated and explored. I'll put it aside,
Starting point is 00:53:58 but I just want to say for a further conversation, we're going to have to have one. In terms of the show itself, could this be one of the most unique ones? I mean, there's a couple things here, right? First of all, like, they've already changed some of what they've said. They said they were going to have 22,000 people in the White House lawn, and we were all, and you and I are on the show where I was like, there's just not, like, again, if you go to the, if you go down to the Capital One arena, there's multiple points of entry and multiple points of exit. Like, that doesn't work. So of course, they've now brought that number down to, I think they said 5,000. I suspect it'll be
Starting point is 00:54:26 a little bit lower than that by the time the fights themselves happen. But that's an interesting idea that they have about the White House on one side and then the Washington money on the other. But the part that he's talking about is the ellipses which figures prominently into January 6, by the way, B.C., but putting that aside for just a second, you do have the space
Starting point is 00:54:42 to put many, much more than 85,000. I'm not sure where that number comes from, but could you do it, yes, you could vary. It's the entire national mall is essentially right over there. You could easily easily do it again it depends how they set it up and whatnot so to answer the question you know if they hold if that vision that he just laid out actually ends up you know more or less being true does this stand to be a historically you know different and relevant card partly it also depends on
Starting point is 00:55:11 who's going to be in that card bc but i'm guessing that they're going to do their best to stack it or you know whatever but like to answer the question does it have that capacity again there's a political angle that we won't explore today but to answer that part of the question yes Yes, it absolutely does. It's just, you know, between now and June, a lot of factors could end up changing what we actually get in the end. And I will say also, it's like, oh, I'm buying an island. And it's like they did have a place to put shows, but it wasn't as cool as like they made it sound. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:55:39 And I liked the sphere show, but a lot of people were not exactly sold on it, you know? So I, you know what I, I appreciate when they do things differently. and I appreciate when they go and they try and they like they think about how can we make this bigger. And that clearly seems to be applying here. I guess I'm just going to say, let's just see what the final product looks like. But it definitely sounds to me ambitious in a historically relevant way. Yeah, I mean, look, even though it won't be on July 4th because there's so many other things going on that day in terms of celebration, it's for the 250th anniversary of this country.
Starting point is 00:56:15 So to some degree that does cut through the political divide that does linger over this. but another discussion for another day. But back to the point you said about who will they put on this fight card? How much will they load it up? Here's Dana on the same podcast talking about the two names we keep hearing, John Jones and Connor McGregor. Dude, what's going on with that fight? Well, John Jones, since, you know, retiring and then coming back has made it clear
Starting point is 00:56:43 I want to do this and, you know, he sent me a text, apologize, and all that stuff. but I need people that I can seriously rely on for this one. You know, and people talk shit about Connor. I'm telling you, I've been in the fucking trenches with Connor. Connor is a guy that has fought injured. Connor is a guy that a fighter has fallen out and we slid in a stylistically bad matchup for him. He doesn't care.
Starting point is 00:57:14 He literally will fight anybody. But does he care enough to actually make a fight? right now. Like, does he, is he actually, when's the last time he fought? He and I have been talking nonstop. And he's like, I'm dead serious. I want this. You know, I'm training. I'm, I'm back in the pool. I'm doing all the shit. So we'll see. Luke, he was largely talking about 2015 Connor right there. Uh, 20. Yeah. I'm going to say, been a while. I know. The most recent Connor did pull out of a international fight week made event with a broken toe and is, I think close to passing both Lou Gehrig.
Starting point is 00:57:48 and Cal Ripkin for consecutive days deep in the bag. But with all that said, and you heard what he said about John Jones right there, I want to ask you, because it is the nation's 250th birthday. We want big fights, but don't we want Americans in big fights? I mean, does this kind of almost lean into John Jones's favor that like, Kayla Harrison's the only American champion? I suspect her and Amanda could be on this card and would deserve to be, but not in the main event.
Starting point is 00:58:17 And even though we kind of are talking at, you know, Conner versus Nate 3 would kind of be the perfect crossover casual nostalgic fight to maybe put as the co-main event. But don't you kind of need an American fighter fighting for a championship in the main event? And if that's the case, like isn't Jones Aspernel maybe your only choice? I would say the most important consideration is not having fighters in the White House who have been held liable for sexual assault. That's probably a bigger issue to me. But if we're going to talk about what the move. off of July 4th does, in my opinion, it frees you up to not necessarily. I mean, yes, you might want to have more Americans than not, or some prominently featured Americans than not, but it
Starting point is 00:58:58 doesn't require it. At the end of the day, if you're not on July 4th, you have a little bit of latitude to move this stuff around in ways that are interesting to you. And more to the point that Dana White makes, if you're going to do something this ambitious, dude, how the hell can anybody rely on John Jones to do anything ever? You know what I mean? It just seems absurd to think that you can rely on a person like this he just can he cannot i mean sometimes he can get out of his own way but he cannot reliably get out of his own way so in this particular case in terms of what dana's priorities are for the kinds of like the profile of a fighter in terms of the reliability i completely understand his position dude they went through the ringer with john and he left
Starting point is 00:59:37 them dry more than a few times like why would you ever count on a person like that i got it but i I almost feel like they can reverse psychology, use him, you know, to be the guy they actually need for this main event if they want an American in one of the biggest title fight you can make. John Jones on the main event of this card seems like a horrifically bad idea. I got you. I almost, like I said, make him earn at first, make him headline the first Paramount card. But we can argue that another day. If it ends up being Iliu versus Islam, because that's the best fight you can make, I'm not going to go, hey, we need an American. but here quickly is John Jones at the MTV VMA Red Carper.
Starting point is 01:00:15 Hold on. Hold on. Okay, you know what? Play this clip. I have something for it. First and foremost, are you retired? I am not retired. I'm actively training five days a week, and I'm in the UFC's drug testing. Great. And what's the status of the fight at the White House? I don't really know. It's kind of out of my control right now. I'm training for the event. I'll be ready for the event. That's my goal. That's my intention. But ultimately, it's up to the boss. so I don't know if it's this one I don't think it's this one I think it's a different one from the same event although it might be this one but he did an interview with his own publicist and they put it out like it was a real interview because he you know he's trying to astro turf the question so he can get the answers that he wants out there I it kind of I've heard people say that like he wasn't mob that's a celebrity there and it kind of why would he be yeah I mean damn he he was pretty high in terms of when he had the comeback fight beating gone and even beating stepe even though it was lame the way it played out him doing the
Starting point is 01:01:17 dance in front of trump i'm not saying that was my favorite moment ever but like people were giving him his flowers but boy did he soil himself and how he behaved since then i don't know what they're going to do but there is one man who still believes luke that not only he could be in a major fight at the white house that it might come against connor mcgregor here's the face of ufc's black history month tribute, Michael Chandler. Dana said they're not going to start matchmaking until next year, but like, where's your head at in terms of your return to action? You know, I think, you know, obviously that's, that's a fight that I want.
Starting point is 01:01:49 I want the White House. You know, first and foremost, I want the White House. Ideally, if I, if it becomes Connor, that would be awesome. You know, obviously, we, we have some animosity or some unfinished business. Once again, I just said, there's not really animosity. I got respect for him. He's got respect for me, but we do have an unfinished business. And he has, you know, expressed interest, you know, when he put out that meme of me and him, I guess you could call it a meme, it was AI, you know, it was me and him, you know, he's called me out on Twitter and said we have unfinished business. And we do. We have unfinished business. We would be the only fighters not to fight after the ultimate fighter who were in the same weight class. And Connor and I, it makes sense. I did my job. I signed on the dotted line. I've still never pulled out of a fight, never missed weight. There was important thing about this White House car.
Starting point is 01:02:37 and whether I am a shoe in for it or not, when you're building a card of this magnitude, it's not necessarily even about putting on the best fight. It's about putting on the best fights that are the most reliable, which fighters and which matchups, which marquee contests are going to happen on the White House lawn that have an almost virtual certainty of actually happening. In this crazy sport, there are no guarantees, but I'm about as sure as a guarantee as you possibly could be. you like I said never missed weight never pull out of a fight and if I can walk to the octagon
Starting point is 01:03:11 if I can physically make it to the octagon I'm showing up that cage that octagon door is closing and I'm putting on a show for the fans I think we're closer now than we ever have been I've always said if you're a betting man don't put money on him necessarily coming back but now this changes things a lot in my heart of hearts I think I'm fighting conne mcgregor at the white house and that sure does make a ton of sense for a multitude of reasons God why are we acting like connor's a sure thing these days good lord It's like, do we, do we not remember he pulled out with a toe injury that, like, I mean, he was like, what Dana, to your point, BC, what Dana White said, like, oh, you know,
Starting point is 01:03:42 Conner's fought injured and all stuff. That's true. Like, he's taking on fights and there were unenviable, short notice, he's messed up, blah, blah, blah. He definitely did those things 10 years ago. Like, he pulled out from a toe injury that I'm not saying I would have fought or something like that. No, I'm not that kind of a person, but I've definitely seen other fighters fight with injuries like that. I don't know why we're saying he's so reliable either. But like the other problem is he's got nothing else going on.
Starting point is 01:04:10 So maybe he would do it, you know. Yeah, I wonder if we'll see Chandler at the top. I don't think it'll be at the top of that card, but I think we'll see him on that card. I think he deserves that even with the losses that he's piled up of late. Hey, we'll see what happens. Nine months to go right there. Those are your five topics for this Friday. We transition now to the fan segments to close here.
Starting point is 01:04:28 And of course, you already know you can reach out to the show using our email address morning combat at gmail.com. Tell Mikey that you said hi and please, please don't show him pictures of your package. We're going to start off with a segment where, wow, that's gross, where we give you the opportunity to call us out and put us on the stand and subpoena our penwas. This one's called Dead Raw. Ben Raw. All right.
Starting point is 01:04:58 This one comes to you from, comes to us from a few different people, Henry, Brandon, and Andrew. not sure which one actually wrote this. Is it Henry? Anyway, he says, Konichiwa, bitches. Luke is not only dead wrong, but he flat out lied during Monday's MK at one hour and 33 minutes when he claimed to not know anything about Japanese anime and said he never even saw a movie before. The truth is just last year he was hyped up about Hayo Mizaki films and multiple times talked about them in his tweets and where he declared his love for them. I attached a couple of
Starting point is 01:05:36 Luke's tweets here as proof that in reality, he is a real anime-loving otaku. Sayonara and stay honest. This is the samurai way. It is true that there is one creator whose movies I've seen
Starting point is 01:05:51 that are incredible. That's true. I discovered what discovered? I stumbled upon them in my own way last year and they were amazing. That is true. But like, I don't You lied, though, on air. You lied on air. You were like, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:06:06 I don't touch that shit. I mean, I guess I did, but I mean, lying means like you knowingly told something you didn't think was true. Yeah, that's a lie. It is anime, but in my mind, I don't consider it that way. I mean, I know that it is, but like, it's like, if you, it's like, do you like heavy metal if you only like one heavy metal band? I don't know. I don't know how that works. If you only like Metallica and you don't like any other band, nothing, nothing even close, are you a head?
Starting point is 01:06:31 are you a heavy metal fan or are you a Metallica fan? Oh, we got qualifiers here, Luke. You're coping right now. I'll say that, listen, that kind of style of animation is considered anime, and so for that reason, I will take the L, but there's literally nothing else in the anime universe that interests me. Nothing, zero. Okay, you can't say that you like cannibal corpse and then be like,
Starting point is 01:06:51 I don't like abortion rock, it's not my thing. Yeah, it's like, how can you say you like Metallica, but you don't like Megadeth? Yeah, it's like, how can I drive a- in that shit, really? How can I drive a? Subaru and claim I'm straight, Luke, but it's a true fact, right? It definitely is, all right? I only say that because Luke peppers me with Instagram DMs dunking on my Subaru ownership.
Starting point is 01:07:12 Every day. Yeah. Fine car. All right. Our second and final, uh, dead wrong comes from somebody named E who says at 43 minutes and 12 seconds of the UFC Paris recap episode, BC is talking about how Benoit, Saint Denis can build from his win against Hoofie. He mentions that at 32 years old, he's in the middle of his prime. That's dead wrong, BC. Although BSD has looked 35 since he debuted in the UFC in his early 20s,
Starting point is 01:07:42 he is only 29 years old as of today. I take that. He does look older, though. He does. He definitely does, but that's an L for sure. All right. I'm not going to get my BVDs in a bunch over BSD. He's 29, and that's the way it is.
Starting point is 01:07:55 That's your dead wrong for the week. Our final segment allows you the opportunity. to send in your artwork, pictures of Saul's wife, wearing our new clothes, or anything else you got. We call this one fan subs. You've got mail. Viewers. Is that where this is going? This is ridiculous. This is great. Oh, wow. Okay. Let's go over to Wes, Wes says, while all us old farts pine for the UFC boom period, do we long for the ultimate fighter era fashion?
Starting point is 01:10:08 Let's take a look. Here I've got an Ed Hardy inspired front yard gym design as well as the affliction inspired factory town MMA design next as upload. Oh, that front yard gym one is amazing. That is really good. It looks like Guns and Roses there. You'll see the bedazzled blue jean dad 2000s d-bag sporting the shirt. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:10:34 Blowouts and man buns. Watch out ladies. No serious ladies. Cover your drinks. Where would these fellas go? Hooters, of course, sitting for five hours and leaving a $2 tip. BC eating his third pile of wings. Luke double fisting.
Starting point is 01:10:50 What I only assume is Mickey's finest malt beverage. Salude. It's Wes. Luke, this is AI brilliance right here. If you look at the TVs, it's three. three different fights and one of the persons has a rash guard and one person has no opponent. That is on, can we start from the beginning again? Look at this. So first we got this, uh, design of factory town MMA, badass medieval. I like it.
Starting point is 01:11:13 Then we go over to front yard gym. Look at Axel Rose's skull there in the middle. That's great. Bro, look at these gym, tan, and laundry douchebags. We are, the bedazzled jeans. Oh my God, those jeans on the right are so awful. Remember that area? have cargo pants? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:30 RIP to the late Stuart Scott. He used to wear bedazzled jeans just like that on the right at ESPN all the time, all the damn time. Incredible. Wow. All right. Let's go to UK's finest danger mouse who says, hi, BC, Danger Mouse here. You guys have kept asking me for fan subs.

They know us better than we do or our lives. So true. Let's hear from Lazybed. This is the final one. He says, gentlemen, what a shock it was to turn on my local news this afternoon and see a familiar face giving the tail end of a breaking story. Great to see L.T. broadening his field of work and
