You finished it yesterday.
It's so good it's addictive it's
i mean it's got the the twists and turns of a tiger king but without like an exotic man and
his three husbands it was fantastic piece of art we'll get to it later okay very good with that in
mind we got a lot to get to huge fight card over the weekend so let's get to topic number one bc
we will go to you first on this one over the weekend weekend, Kamaru Usman defends his UFC welterweight title by defeating Jorge
Masvidal via unanimous decision.
50-45 on two of the judges' scorecards, 149-46.
Either of those, I guess, is acceptable to me.
But that's not the issue, BC.
The issue is fans are upset.
They're mad. Not so much at the score,
but at the fight and what they had seemed to be promised in the way that Kamaru fought.
Do you understand the fans' frustration? You know, I do from the standpoint of any fight fan,
when they put money down on the table for a pay-per-view, they want to fight. They want a
back and forth war. They want the equivalent of a street fight or a schoolyard fight in the midst of a competitive
environment in the cage or ring but in this case i think they got it wrong because you have to know
what you're getting into when you're purchasing this look jory mazavid also stole the show on the
build to this fight right he doubled the interest he got you to open up your wallet for the promise of him
counteracting a predictable and one-way style with his reckless you know uh not reckless but you know
explosive sort of ability to counter and knock people out we didn't end up getting that but
that's not kamaru usman's fault per se look what was rounds three through five boring as balls? Yes, but A, we knew that had the potential.
B, it had to go that way for Kamaru Usman to dominate.
So he, in a lot of ways, was really smart.
But rounds one and two were a different story.
I'm not saying they were fight of the year contenders,
but you saw Jorge Masvidal through two-plus rounds
stuff seven of eight takedowns,
do something that
we kind of said he would have to do to make this a fun fight.
We also saw a first round in which he landed some stuff.
And what we saw in between that was an evolved Kamaru Usman.
Uh, you know, he's not a complete well-rounded fighter, but he's already a pop pound for
pound top 10 guy who is getting better every single fight.
And you saw firsthand the Trevor Whitman
experience having a positive effect on him. So I want to say a couple of things about the
negativity right now. A, we pick and choose which quote unquote boring fighters we willingly accept
and which ones we take shots at. I know Habib is more inclined to go for the finish when he takes you down.
But Habib has a quote-unquote boring style if you're uninitiated.
But we love him.
We support him.
GSP, second half of his title reign, he had a boring style.
But we love George.
We supported him.
Floyd Mayweather, if you didn't appreciate the art of the defense,
he had a boring pay-per-view style.
Yet you either loved or you
hated them and you kept buying i know kamara usman's corny let's be honest he's a corny dude
he's also a really good fighter so i think the hate is a bit misplaced here and if we're gonna
have that hate about this main event not living up to expectations and let's not lie it didn't
i don't think it ruined saturday's card saturday's card was entertaining for me but it didn't hit
that home run you got a point at jorge masvidal to a certain degree. He doubled down on himself with a short training camp to take
the big swing and take that big chance. And I know he was crediting himself afterwards for saving his
cardio at times and fighting through like a dog and trying to have big moments, but he also sort
of let himself get held against the face so he can save that cardio. If you're going to double down and be the street gangster turned possible champion
and take this kind of chance, you also have to double down and take chances,
which I don't think he did in this fight.
I'm not going to sit here and damn him for it.
A fight is going to be what it is.
You pay the money, however it plays out, you're going to see it.
But if you're sitting here and I got about 4 you know, 4,000 tweets coming at me going,
F your analysis, Usman's boring.
Well, your guy Masvidal didn't necessarily deliver what was promised on his end either.
Instead, he just talked so much about give me a full training camp and it will be different.
You don't always get that second chance, though.
This was his double down moment.
Credit to him for having the balls.
But you didn't see him, Luke, go for broke and try to take a five round fight and maybe make it a two round fight
you saw a guy who in some degree was happy to go the distance so i'm gonna i don't know that i
would disagree with any of that but i'm gonna add maybe a slightly different way of looking at it
i'm gonna say let's assume that there is blame everywhere to go. How would you assign the blame?
So one way I would say is, it's nobody's fault.
By that I mean, I just don't know if Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman are always going
to make a good fight.
We always talk about it.
Styles make fights.
Sometimes styles break fights too.
So for example, Jorge Masvidal has the advantage on the feet.
That's going to force Kamaru Usman to do what he wants to do anyway, but it's going to really make it a strong priority to wrestle. But the reality is that
Jorge Masvidal, while not as good in the clincher wrestling department as Kamaru, he's hard to
overwhelm. Demian Maia couldn't overwhelm him. Lorenz Larkin couldn't overwhelm him. Ben Henderson
couldn't overwhelm him. And I could go on down the list. Those guys might have won, but they won
kind of by the skin of their teeth a little bit.
And so the reality is, yes,
maybe if Jorge had a bigger camp directly focused on Kamaru,
things would be different.
But also, if Kamaru had a camp directly focused on Jorge Masvidal,
maybe they wouldn't be.
I'm just simply saying they don't necessarily pair up
in the best way to get all action all the time.
Okay, so that's nobody's fault.
If I had to blame Kumaru for something, there is a criticism about him that he gets into
these moments where he could do more and simply doesn't elect to, right?
Where we're not taking on necessarily a whole lot more risk and he just kind of stalled
the fight out.
When he was doing all of that foot stomping, I didn't mind it at first,
but if at first it doesn't succeed,
maybe don't try again, try something else.
Maybe level change, maybe try and open up a little bit.
Easier said than done for my very comfortable chair here,
but just the same, it's like,
is he maximizing every opportunity for action
to push it forward in maybe the ways that he could be, I'm at least
somewhat sympathetic to that argument. However, I got to say something here. We keep blaming Jorge
for this. We're blaming Kamaru for this. We're saying maybe it just is what it is. Dude, UFC,
I can't believe they keep pulling this trick and people keep falling for it. Ladies and gentlemen,
understand something here. If you are Kamaru Usman, right?
You don't have a whole lot of popularity outside of the title.
So if you lose that title, you go from hero to zero immediately.
Your pay gets cut substantially.
Your place on cards get cut substantially.
All the things that give you leverage gets cut substantially, right?
If you lose the fight, you also get half of your pay.
So let me get this straight.
You have to get your full pay.
You have to win.
And if you don't keep that title, everything that makes you Cinderella,
and then if you lose it, turns you back into, well, in this case, your ride anyway, the pumpkin.
Really, that's what we're going to do?
And we're going to say that all of the blame goes on these two guys
when they are incentivized heavily to fight this way?
Sorry, you've got to spread the blame around.
I'm willing to point the finger, BC, at all the various players,
but the way in which UFC structures their contracts
and makes that title such a make or break for someone's career,
they have to take a look in the mirror here too
that's fair it's very fair point the stink finger at the UFC in some ways I just look at Kamaru as
somebody you mentioned rightfully you know the risk isn't worth it in that case could we get on
him for not going for more finishes yes but I don't see him as a guy who's boasting that he was
more than he is yes he's got the chip on his shoulder.
He thinks he doesn't get the critical attention he deserves. But if you fight in a defensive,
negative, or passive style, you have a limit on how big of a star you can be, on how big of money you can demand and pay-per-view that you can drive. And I don't necessarily see him
trying to brag about something he isn't. At the end of the day, if you think his style is boring,
don't pay for it. And the UFC won't put him in pay-per-view main events. It kind of happened to Demetrius Johnson in that way, right? People didn't deem him with their checkbook as worth
watching for better or worse. And I think they were wrong on that, but he ended up main eventing
fight night. So that's sort of what happens in that end. I do want to say one other thing.
I think people missed how much he did
evolve in this fight though. And you got to mention like so much pressure on Jorge. How about the
pressure on Usman for the short notice and all that? And he was very honest at the press conference
afterwards talking about the, you know, the last 24 hours was hell. He couldn't sleep for three
days leading into that. It was just, you know, a mind boggle. He improved in such slight ways.
And I'm no professor salt and pepper right i don't
claim to have i don't claim to have my own show in my room with a big tv and a you know big beard
and really bad music taste and about you know schools getting shot up and stuff but i could see
those those variations and to hear jorge be as humble as he was afterwards and just say look
camaro was better than i thought he was in a lot of these little subtle areas which prevented me from doing what I thought I could you kind of have to tip your hat
to a guy who is getting better every fight and may end up evolving into more of the type of fighter
we want him to be even if there wasn't enough reward on the table as you mentioned to try to
be that guy on Saturday night he's getting better he. He's really good. You know, it is what it is.
Yeah, I mean, on the one hand, when fans are like,
but they talked all that smack, I'm like,
yeah, Chef Boyardee says that this pasta is the best you'll have in your life.
Maybe don't buy into all the marketing, number one.
But okay.
It's pretty damn good, though.
Out of the can, pretty damn good. Listen, I'm not above Chef Boyardee.
I'm just saying it ain't as good as the real thing over in Venice.
But the point I'm trying to make here is beyond just the marketing,
the one thing I'll get on Kamaru about is he's like,
oh, well, you hear it from Colby Covington,
Jorge Masvidal is a journeyman.
Really?
He looks like a lot more than a journeyman to me.
He looks like somebody who gave you a lot of problems.
So I think that finally putting some respect on Kamaru Usman's name is important,
but Jorge Masvidal is just the same.
Very quickly, because Jay wants us to move on, BC.
No, no, no.
Jay can pound sand and get sand, because this is the topic of the week.
Let me ask the question then.
Where does Jorge Masvidal go next?
Does he fight Colby Covington, or does he fight Leon Edwards?
It looks like Gilbert Burns is probably going to get the title shot
against Kumar, which, by the way, I do think will be action-packed.
But go ahead.
This is the best question.
I was going to spit it on you, but you hit me.
In the post-fight press conference, it was surprising to hear mods vidal talk about
his lust for the title for really the first time right he was an opportunist before then
16 17 years in the business we heard the the war cry he wanted the money now he wants the the fame
and the pride to go with that which is great i think both of those fights you mentioned are
perfect he wanted nothing to do with covington, but that's a great fight. Both just lost to the champion. You have built-in
crap going on there. And then you obviously have Leon Edwards, who's so deserving. And oh,
by the way, got punched backstage in 2019 by Masvidal. So both would make great fights,
but I think it's fair to ask if you're the UFC and you're looking at risk reward stock,
you know, you look at fighters as stocks right
it's fair to question which direction they'll go with Jorge moving forward or really Luke which
direction they should now logic will tell you if Kamaru stays on being the champion over the next
two years and if you look at it it's going to be hard right now in that top 10 to pick any
welterweight to beat him for how good he is it's more than likely Jorge ends up getting a
second chance at the title it just makes sense financially Kamaru just beat him somewhat easily
you're right five to nothing on two of the judges scorecards that he's going to probably get back
there but the road to getting back there is it smart to put him right back in against top
contenders or is it smart to pick and choose with the real money you can make, which is the Diaz
brother, Conor McGregor type route?
I mean, it's one thing to hear Jorge say the direction he now wants to go.
But Luke, let's not forget he is 35 and the window isn't wide open, even though his level
of fame just sort of took off.
And let's also not forget the light bulb diminished just a bit, Luke.
When you're that hot coming into a fight
like this and you have people like me predicting you're going to win because of your momentum and
the quote-unquote magic and all that and you have that performance it takes a little bit of that
that you know superman element out of it so it is sort of worth a debate which direction does he go
next those two names that
we mentioned they would make a lot of sense yeah he wants to follow the Diaz model he wants to be
somebody's b-side and get the shine from their a-side because that's the way to make the most
amount of money problem is unless he gets Diaz and even then I'm not sure Diaz is an a-side at
this point anymore for for Jorge or Connor okay he would be that. Those might scratch that itch, but Diaz
may be still doable. Conor, I don't think he's going to want any part of that anytime soon,
because there's just not a ton of incentive given some of the options that he has. And if you look
at the other fights that make sense for Jorge, given his title aspirations, he will absolutely
be the A-side. And those are tough-ass fights. Colby Covington's going to be hard to beat. And
I got news for folks. Leon Edwards is nobody's pushover.
He is a very difficult guy to beat.
So those should be kind of interesting.
Now, it takes us to point number two, BC.
Okay, this one had people hot under the collar.
I even saw Damian Lillard tweeting about it.
All right.
Alexander Volkanovsky defeats max holloway via split decision 48 47 twice 47 48 the other way
for max holloway bc let's start the conversation i think where it has to be started number one
how did you score it and then as a second their follow-up is it a robbery i guess it would depend
on your score i scored three rounds to do for Max Holloway.
I thought this was ultimate vindication for him as the still 28-year-old all-time great.
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt on making an adjustment before we talk about
his bad quarantine haircut and the whole Zoom crap.
I think he was playing all of us, and I think I got a little vindication for being his number
one follower there.
He didn't win the fight, though.
No, not a robbery.
A close fight.
I almost side with Dana in a way, who was just sort of like, look, you know, it's your
responsibility if you leave it to the judge's hands.
I don't side in that sort of barbaric way of it's either knockout or you could get screwed.
I'm just saying in a fight that close and that brilliant, by the way, let's give them
the credit now for 10 rounds of high speed chess that's entertaining and that is skill at the highest level.
It's hard to stand out and leave no doubt when it's that competitive.
They weren't able to leave no doubt.
Now, the problem here is your eyes tell you that Max won because the two rounds that he no doubt won, one and two, he won so widely. there were knockdowns involved that if you're scoring on the pride system or you're scoring on the at home a couple drinks deep system without thinking of the math that comes into play you're
obviously like oh my god max won that fight it just so happens in a competitive third round
i thought he had done enough i'm here to certainly give the respect for volkanovski for making
championship adjustments to keep that fight close i just don't think he either did enough
or won more rounds at the end of the day. So I think the spinoff conversation, which we have
often, is about the scoring system and the fact that MMA is still using essentially a boxing 10-9
must system. We do see more 10-8s when it's one-sided and dominant, and those first two rounds
were one-sided for Max. They weren't dominant, though, from the standpoint of damage, save for those two knockdowns,
which really put the capstone on each round.
So, Luke, I will spin this back to you and say, is it time if we're going to stay in
the boxing scoring structure to be a little bit more like boxing and score a point for
clean knockdowns?
Because in that case, Max would have won this fight,
and you would have been able to reward the fact that he run those first two rounds much wider
than Volkanovski edged the last three.
I think it's a fair question.
There's always trouble in play, and it's not like this doesn't happen in boxing, by the way,
where one guy gets a knockdown and looks more dominant but didn't win enough rounds.
But something may have to be done for fights exactly like this well the truth is none of us know exactly what the right
answer is other than what we have currently is just profoundly inadequate let's start the
conversation here how did i score it same as you three rounds to two four max holloway i think that
is what a lot of observers had. Again, what's sort
of getting lost here a little bit, BC, and I think you would agree, hell of a job by Alexander
Volkanovsky to take the things away that Max was doing really well in rounds one and two,
and then to win rounds four and five the way he did three seems to be the swing round. Again,
I don't think he did enough to win three rounds, but I want to make sure I say this because I
think it's getting lost. That was very hard to do on Volkanovski's part, even though I think that should have
been Max Holloway's night.
So where do we go from here?
Listen, man, is the right answer to give a 10-8 to somebody like Max if they can drop
a guy in two consecutive rounds?
Maybe.
I'm certainly not here to say no.
Here's what I am going to say.
I once asked Jeff Blatnick,
rest in peace, one of the pioneers of the sport and one of the people who helped come up with
some of the rules and the concepts around scoring in MMA, and obviously a highly decorated
international class wrestler himself prior to all of that, UFC commentator as well.
And I'd asked him, should you give points for things like punches or takedowns? And he said, no. And the reason why his argument was because it would take away sort of the open
ended creativity of a fight is more than the sum of its parts. And I think that that is very
trenchant, correct analysis. So if that is true, why are we still using a system of points with these individual frames designed around this idea that a fight is actually only the sum of its parts?
To me, it is totally incongruous if we're not going to score takedowns with individual points.
If we're not going to score uppercuts with individual points, why are we assigning numeracy and numeric value to these individual rounds?
It, to me, does not make sense i know that what folks think is that we should just keep the system that we have and add specificity
to it and maybe i'm wrong and maybe that's worth an experiment i am willing to say let's at least
try to see if that works but here's my hunch bc if you score that fight under pride or one rules i
have a very hard time believing that you come up any other way than Max Holloway winning
because he dominantly won the first two.
Not 10-8, but dominantly.
And then the last three are kind of a wash, maybe round five clear to Volkanovski.
If that's the case, you would easily come up with Max Holloway there.
We keep thinking, well, what we need with this system is more and
more and more and more and more specificity. My hunch is it's exactly the opposite. The reason
you don't want to assign point values to takedowns or punches or kicks is the same reason you don't
want to assign point values to individual rounds. It corrupts the whole thing and it gives you this
deeply unsatisfying response
because here is where we're going to end up again, BC. I looked it up. There was one guy who has
gotten a little bit of questions around him. His name is Mark Collette. He was the judge
that gave it 48, 47, one of the ones that gave it 48, 47 max, but he also scored the fight
for Andrade over Nama Yunus, which was a little bit eyebrow raising as well. Now, as far as I can
tell, this is the first UFC title fight he has judged.
He might have been in other ones, but they never went ultimately to the scorecards.
Wait, is he the one that scored it for Max?
I want to interrupt you for a point.
No, he scored it for, let's see, he scored it for Volkanovski.
I just want to say, the guy that scored it for Max gave Max round five
and gave round three to Volkanovski,
which didn't seem to make a ton of sense either.
Yeah, that doesn't make a lot of sense.
But okay, but just sticking with this point, so how much experience does Mark Collette have?
Based on what I see over in MMA decisions, hundreds, hundreds of fights.
Many UFC main events, including obviously ones that have gone five rounds.
He's a jiu-jitsu black belt.
He has competitive experience himself.
BC, at some point, the community has got to wake up to this.
I don't know if Mark Collette is a great judge,
but he seems to be at best okay, right?
Or at worst, rather, okay.
A bad system is going to make good or okay judges bad.
We have a bad system is going to make good or okay judges bad we have a bad system you cannot get optimal
responses in a bad system and it is time for the ufc to try some experimentation maybe yours maybe
my idea i don't care but what we have is broken and it's never going to be fixed just leaving it
the way that it is i agree with a lot of what you said in fact the
same black line that was drawn on you was drawn on me and now it's drawn me in because my my
adjustment to the current system still kind of leaves potential evolutionary problems and you're
still doing again a 10-9 boxing system in five minute rounds with much more disciplines so i
guess the answer because everybody is constantly
referencing if this was pride then why don't we just do the damn pride rules or keep the round
structure as it is so you can allow for the break but have the judges score the fight as a whole at
the end of the fight rather than round by round uh if because you want the right person to win
and the spinoff conversation from what happened, Luke,
is Max did everything we wanted him to do against a great fighter,
and now he's in a I don't know where he goes next situation.
Obviously, he's not going downhill.
He's 28 years old.
He just showed you that he could be the best featherweight in the world.
But we don't, you know, it's going to take a long road back
to be in a spot where you would think the UFC would want to give him a trilogy and we both have questions about
his potential ceiling at 155 should he want to move up into the deepest pool in history so now
you kind of leave him in a crappy spot because of this judging and you know situation certainly do
very quickly where do you think Max goes does he stay at 145 or does he jump up to lightweight? Because of his demeanor, which is, you know, his tweets were great and you
shouted them out for that. Nobody, you know, this side of Conor McGregor deals with losses with a
better attitude than Max. It is what it is, all that stuff. I think he stays in the division. I
think he looks for the best possible fight you can make. An Ortega rematch would be awesome. Him
against the damn zombie. I mean, Zabi, everybody up and down, you can make uh an Ortega rematch would be awesome him against
the damn zombie I mean Zabi everybody up and down you can make great fights and I think he just
stays on course and goes after the title and this is where the debate needs to be had should the UFC
consider giving him that third chance in a situation in a trilogy where you almost never
see the person who lost the first two get the third opportunity unless there is just overwhelming corruption at stake.
How many wins do you think would be justified for him to get that?
Two? Two big wins in the top five?
Two. That fight was, honestly, you guys know what I said last week.
I thought for sure Volkanovski was going to shine here.
And again, I think late to have the adjustments that he did,
it's just going to get lost in all of this. I get it because it's really about Max.
I thought it was pretty impressive. But for Max to do what he did early in that fight
was epic. It was really special. And so to me, if you wanted to give him a third fight right away,
I know that's unheard of, but this is frankly an unprecedented situation to a degree.
I wouldn't mind it at all. Let it breathe a little bit, maybe wait six months, That's unheard of. But this is, frankly, an unprecedented situation to a degree.
I wouldn't mind it at all.
Let it breathe a little bit.
Maybe wait six months.
But my chances are, because they've got to keep this machine churning,
they probably won't.
So two.
Two wins.
Zabit, you know, a Yair, something like that.
If he can get those wins, you put him right back in there.
I'm going to counter you quickly and say you can't do next.
You have to respect that Volkanovsky won in the eyes of the judges and let him move on and he wants to face the best in line he doesn't even want sahudo which is great you know and so who knows trying to get in every
conversation right now luke i just want to remind him you're the guy that retired okay so you know
you don't have much leverage right now all right that takes us now to point three the third
of the three title fights of the first certainly in the chronological order,
on Saturday night. Peter Jan, Piotr Jan, is your new UFC bantamweight champion. BC, one more time in the championship questions. Go first. In one year's time, assuming he stays
active, assuming he fights top contenders, in one year's time so july 13th 2021 is peter yan the bantamweight champion
great question the fact that i don't know without a shadow of the doubt is what makes this division
so great right now because i didn't think al jermaine sterling member of this show at times
was as great as the performance he showed against cory sanhagen and that's why you need the best to
face the best and that's why you need you best to face the best, and that's why
you need, you know, shout out to Aldo for pouring out the jug for us, you don't need old guy names
in this spot when you have this deep of a roster of prime guys right now, I don't know what Jan
Sterling is going to look like, I do know it's the fight that needs to happen next, and I do know
that because of this performance on Saturday night, I'm going to slightly favor
Peter Jan, Peyote, Peyote, however you want to look at it right now. Because Luke, if he wasn't
as good as he is across all the board, a great veteran like Jose Aldo was going to solve him.
And the fact that we actually got to see Aldo hurt Jan and see Jan remain patient, show a great
chin, stick to his game plan and show you so many facets of his game,
yet still sticking to his brand of being an absolute savage,
of hunting you down and finishing you.
This was obviously a breakout performance.
He is who he thought he was,
and I now need to see him against the very best in order.
I love when you've got a lot of old names
in the division. You got Frankie Edgar, you got Mr. Faber, you got Cruz, you know, Dillashaw is
coming back. You got a lot of options here. Can they just fight each other though for now? Can
we find out who actually is the best of the best? And again, Henry Cejudo, I saw your tweets, bro,
you pulled out. Okay. Like Luke in college, many. You pulled out. Let's let Aljo in there right now.
In fact, I almost don't even feel great about putting the belt on Peotre Jan right now.
I almost look at that as an interim belt.
Until we see him against Aljo, that's going to define who is your real UFC Bantamweight
champion.
And one year from now, Luke, I got no idea.
Our guy Sanhagen may slide right back in those DMs and steal it by then.
Yeah, I mean, here's what he would have to do.
Let's say in a year's time, he'll get three more fights.
That means he would have to beat some kind of combination of Aljamain Sterling, Marlon Marais, maybe Cody Garbrandt.
Maybe, as you mentioned, Cody Sanhagen.
Maybe, God, who else is in that division at the top there if I'm not even thinking about
Marlon Marais Marlon Marais Pedro Munoz could move up I mean there's a lot of different ways
that that could go so is he the champion in a year I don't think it's crazy to think that he
could be I think it's crazy to offer a degree of certainty about it because in the Sterling
matchup Sterling's gonna have a hard time taking him down or finding the back.
He had excellent scrambling skills
in this fight and every other one.
John Dotson had trouble taking him down.
I mean, he is incredibly good
at making that difficult.
But on the other hand,
Aljamain Sterling can fight from the outside.
He can stick and move.
Maybe that's going to be an opportunity for him.
Hard to do over five rounds,
but certainly possible.
Marlon Marais has all kinds of tricks himself.
Power puncher, power striker.
Not the best cardio if he's getting backed up,
but still a force to be reckoned with.
And then maybe the punching power of Cody Garbrandt.
The patience is there.
Maybe it's Corey Sandhagen,
and he gets up there and shows that his trickery and sleight of hand is what it is.
Here's what I know.
If he does end up beating three of those top names that I mentioned in one year's time, of course,
he'll be the champion. A lot more than that. That will be absolutely incredible as an athletic
achievement. 27 years old to do that from 27 to 28, beating those kinds of names. At that point,
I think you could fully declare outright best
bantamweight ever probably somewhere along those lines and certainly this would be the Peter Yan
era but I don't want to put the cart before the horse BC that is a lot of work to do as you
mentioned TJ Dillashaw comes back how will he look with his time off way too many unknowns so let's
focus the conversation a little bit on Aldo. Can we talk about that
stoppage for just a second with Leon Roberts? I know everyone wants to kill Leon Roberts for this,
and I'm not here to say that that fight shouldn't have been stopped earlier. It should have.
But I noticed something, man. When Glover Teixeira fought Anthony Smith, I noticed that
every time the referee in that case, which was Jason Herzog,
said to Anthony Smith to move, he did. And yet, here he is losing teeth, taking a beating,
round after round, round after round. You're like, Jesus, man, what are you waiting for here?
Because here's what I think. This is my theory, BC. What do you make of this?
Maybe 10 years ago, guys weren't quite playing it up this way, but now they are.
Guys have gotten better in fights about waiting for the referee to give instructions,
fight back or move, and then doing it.
And they do it long enough.
All that ends up happening is they just prolong their beating.
But by the letter of the law, they're sort of meeting the intelligent defense standard.
Referee asked for action they
provide it just enough to stop the fight and the problem as you can see bc is you can do that for
a minute on end and get your ass whipped take unnecessary damage with no hope of getting a
victory but you meet the intelligent defense standard is it time to question whether or not
the intelligent defense standard is enough yeah yeah, yeah, hell yeah, because it's not enough.
You got your ass beat for a full minute.
You're leaking blood all over the floor.
I am with the idea of when it's a title fight or when a veteran,
and obviously, although it does fit this description,
when you have a veteran known for wanting to and willing to going out on their shield,
you do give them a little bit
extra right we always reference Brock Lesnar Shane Carwin and the great Josh Rosenthal for
allowing that to go on Brock rolling around but Brock was also trying to throw back trying to do
different things the problem with what you stated out Luke is Jose Aldo's not trying remotely to
throw a strike or improve his positioning he's doing the minimal amount of movement to not get the fight stopped
or not to willingly put himself in a spot where he has to quit.
So, no, when you're watching a guy that we all love and adore
get the piss beat out of him, stop the damn fight already, okay?
Why are we even having this debate, Luke?
Next topic.
Should be a mercy stoppage kind of consideration in MMA.
We don't have enough of them, and that was ugly to watch at the end there.
Hey, how about his corner?
Throw the damn towel, all right?
Yeah, I was going to say, Andre Pineras was giving him great advice between rounds.
I was like, wow, that's really great corner work.
And then this happens, and I'm just watching in horror like, Jesus, man.
I mean, Rocky could have saved Apollo against Drago.
We all know this, right?
He lived and died with that in his brain.
All right, it takes us now to, you know, it felt like a title fight,
except it was only three rounds.
Rose Namajunas defeating Jessica Andrade via split decision,
which to me was a little bit weird.
But okay, she gets it done.
And so now the question, BC, is how would she do against Wiley Zhang?
I have to tell you, first things first,
while I thought the split decision
nod, yes, it went to Rose, but that it was a split decision at all versus unanimous,
I did not agree with it. However, I will say that if you thought that the first meeting between Rose
and Jessica and the way it ended was a little flukish, maybe you would reconsider that. Yes,
there was no big slams in this fight, but that
Jessica Andrade is a legitimate threat to Rose in a number of different ways. I think that part
was proven to be true. So what does that mean for a potential Rose and Wiley Zhang fight? I have to
say, I cannot wait to see this. My hunch is that maybe Wiley Zhang is just underrated in a way that we haven't quite
fully internalized. She has beaten Ioana Njacek. She beat Jessica quite quickly, although Rose
had beaten Ioana a little bit earlier in some ways than the current champ has. Nonetheless,
I love everything about this matchup, the different experiences, the different nationalities. There'll be a lack of trash talk, the different body types,
the different kinds of games all in play there and for something that would just set women's MMA
apart. I mean, this is the weight class that's going to showcase just what women's MMA is all
about. We already saw it with Wiley Zhang and Ioana and Jacek you
might get that and more with Rose I don't want to oversell something before we see it to know
exactly what it might look like but I'm just saying BC hold on I'm just saying how would it go what
would look like I don't know and it's for those reasons that I cannot wait to see it. Cotton candy sweet and to go let me see that
tootsie roll Luke right now that is among the best four or five fights you can make in this sport.
I said it last week and I know I did see some people on Twitter go hey well you know you saw
the damage Rose took on maybe uh maybe Whaley can send her to hell there I mean obviously anything
can happen but I don't think that changes my expectations for how great of a fight that can be because styles do make fights. You just laid out how
Rose had beaten Ioana twice, including dominantly before she even ever stepped in against Whaley.
And Rose had like a stupid amount of questions to answer for us. Like I said, for somebody who
was favored betting wise and had people like us favoring Rose, she had an absurd amount of
questions to answer,
and I actually like that it wasn't easy,
that, in fact, it was insanely hard,
that that third round was hell on earth for Rose Namajunas
because this wasn't a washed Andrade.
This was an Andrade who improved on her recent performances
as a former champion who actually added some head movement in there
and really put it on in that round three.
And to see Rose go through that with a smile on her face,
she was dancing at times, this is what she needed to know at 28,
that she's still the good, she's still potentially the best fighter
in this division and one of the best in the world.
I don't know if you can favor her over Weili.
It's going to be depending upon your opinion.
But style-wise, she has the potential to do things to zhong that yoana
couldn't that other people can't because of that length and then you mix together the incredible
technique and movement with the power and she does have one punch power you know maybe not to knock
out everyone but to certainly affect the fight in a big way uh that's going to be hellacious and if
that fight goes on the ground and we see a lot of variations over five rounds it can be an absolute classic shout out to rose equal shout out to andrage
didn't think she deserved the split decision either but she made that fight fun and uh a 10-8
round wouldn't have been out of the question for battering rose the way that she did uh shout out
to women's straw weights 115 luke never never never disappoints you never certainly doesn't
never and i would just add like never yeah and i would just add what i hear you i would say never
i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm going to add on top of that the thing that you had mentioned which is
really worth highlighting here she won based on her skills yes but that she is now in the
competitive mindset and the sort of internal
piece and the understanding of her purpose and what she wants to do and the clarity, the sense
of it all, that's going to get you the best Rose Namajunas available. Is that the one to beat Wiley
Zhang? I don't know, but she's going to be able to maximize her chances and her opportunities
against her. And that is going to give us something, I think, quite special down the road.
All right, one more of these, BC.
We go now to point number five.
Amanda Hibas opening the card against Paige Van Zandt.
Boy, she made short work of her winning via first-round armbar.
So let's just ask a question because Dana White was prompted
at the Post-Life Press Conference about Paige.
And he said, yeah, she should probably seek free agency.
I mean, we already kind of knew she was on the way out.
That was the absolute nail in the coffin right there.
So the question would be, what organization outside of the UFC is the best fit?
You might be able to say one, but I just don't believe in that organization.
I like their scoring criteria.
People who are kickboxing enthusiasts tell me that they do some really interesting and
very valuable things in that regard.
I take all of that seriously, and they've got real talent.
They've got the names that we know, and they've got some names that you often don't know,
and they provide a pretty valuable service for that East Asian community.
Okay, fair enough.
But on the other hand, they've been hemorrhaging money for a very long time.
They brag about things happening in their organization that literally aren't happening.
Their leader, Chachri Sitya Tong, seems to me a less than credible character.
Would you buy a used car from Chachri?
Yeah, I mean, and then when you drive it off the lot,
all the wheels come off and then the car explodes like someone... But then you'd get a press release, though,
about how that car is changing the game, Luke.
Yeah, it's full of honor and respect, the card.
So I'm going to say,
I think it makes a lot more sense for her to end up with Bellator.
I think Scott Coker knows how to make situations like this work
where somebody has some ability, but they're not really even close to the best in their weight class but people want to
see them compete that's really what he can deliver here and of course i don't mean to say that scott
coker bellator only do that no but can they make use of that i mean this is the thing about the ufc
at some point if you can't fight at a high, they don't really know what to do with you. Other organizations, and in particular Bellator and Scott, do.
People like Paige.
They want to see her.
But they want to see her in fights that make sense for her.
I think Bellator is probably the best landing place.
Yeah, she doesn't make sense in a PFL tournament, right, to find out how great she is within her own weight class.
She makes sense where she can help elevate the brand that she goes to.
And that certainly, if it's Bellator, that makes sense. sense obviously that could open the door for pro wrestling if she wants to
try that out but Luke let's be really honest about a lot of things this went as destructively bad as
it could have gone from the idea of let me keep my brand strong if not freshen it up on the way out
uh she was such a absurdly heavy underdog that in weird way, I was sort of cheering for her as she was going to the cage.
You know, you see her in tears sort of taking stock of the moment
where you really wanted to see her, if she was going to lose,
and most likely she was, to at least, you know, go out on her shield,
have some type of moment where you're like, all right, you know,
the Paige Van Zandt experiment didn't go as it could have,
as we thought of, whatever.
But shout out to her for finishing
strong no luke she got her ass kicked by somebody from a lower division now this somebody is amanda
hebas who's fantastic and actually even though she wants to go back down to 115 where there's
killers we could have a conversation about which division is better for her potential title path
down the road which is very soon by the way because she looks that great. On a whole, though, Luke, the PVZ experiment was a massive failure.
I'm sorry.
It was.
She's five and four in the octagon overall.
She's lost three out of her last four and something like four out of her last six.
You saw when she finally stepped up in class.
It just didn't happen.
So I'm not here to damn her for that because there was injuries.
There's questions of commitment there was the whole let me try to you know flirt with fame before maybe my star was ready for it or my game was ready for it but this could not have been a
worse flat tire to see the end of the the page journey within the octagon uh i felt bad but
when dana piled on with those comments i wasn wasn't offended. I mean, he's right.
He's right, Luke.
Yeah, well, sort of.
I mean, I love the sleight of hand that he pulls, and people don't call him on it.
Let me see if I get this straight.
You said, remember, because he compared it to Curtis Blades.
Curtis Blades' problem was not that he's not elite because he's beating elite heavyweights in main events.
It was that he's not marketable and then that's the problem
now you get someone who's marketable and now the issue is that they're not elite it's heads i win
tails you lose every time with these considerations look you got to go well you got to factor in
fighter pay though luke that's what he's pissed at he's pissed when you talk shit she talks shit
about fighter pay the fighters the fighters are underpaid it doesn't matter if you're elite
like curtis blades they'll they'll kill you for that or you can be marketable but maybe not elite The fighters are underpaid. It doesn't matter if you're elite like Curtis Blades.
They'll kill you for that.
Or you can be marketable, but maybe not elite,
and they'll kill you for that too.
You can't win.
And the fighters' arguments about whether they're underpaid are just totally airtight.
There's no debate about it anymore.
It's just a question of do they have the leverage to fix it.
But okay, here's the point, though.
And BC, you would agree with this.
This is going to sound like a crazy comparison.
I'm not saying it's one for one apples to apples but like kimbo slice is the most popular
fighter in bellator history right because was he the best one no that's patricio freda he's the
best fighter in bellator history the champ champ over there but the truth is dude people like who
they like and they want to see people they like in situations that they care about bellator is a
great place for
that to happen if coker's interested it's a very easy sell you were gonna say uh sorry i had a
little audio glitch there uh i don't know what i was gonna say but uh we're live still right jay
hey jay's got a morning combat shirt on today shout out for that i saw that i saw that very
quickly obviously the ufc loves amanda he. What's the next best fight for her and her skill set go for it but uh that is a longer path to the title be
honest she's maybe one win away at straw i mean a flyweight if she wanted to go after shevchenko
right now either way luke that name would work for me marina if she's staying there but what a
performance and what a win after the fight how many tweets did you see of people like straight
up falling in love with with her uh humbleness
her goofiness her you know everything about the whole you know brazilian product that she put out
there of broken english and joy and all that you know i mean i wasn't sophie b hawking her
and dropping a damn i wish i was your lover but i want to know her now you know what i'm saying
this is a big win yeah i interviewed her before the fights and she is just completely pleasant
she's the nicest mma fighter i think i've ever interviewed and that's saying something because there's some
roxanne moda fairies out there there's some steven wonderboy thompson's out there and they'll give a
man a run for her money when it comes to being nice but she is just incredible plus bc 26 years
old judo black belt jujitsu black belt she can strike she trains hard uh it is she speaks english right i mean
there's a lot to like if you're the ufc there i think hot too luke you sometimes you got to be
honest with yourself i'll let you have that thing to say tisha torres would be a good next fight too
i don't think they're too far apart so um she's got some ways to go at straw weight they're not
too far apart they're very far apart don't be trying to put more l's on tisha's resume she
lost like five in a row before that one.
I'm just saying they're not there in the rankings.
They're kind of close together.
With that in mind, BC,
it's time to get to where the folks get to ask us questions.
It's time for DMs from donks.
There's the animation.
Blah, blah, blah.
All right, BC, let's go first to this from at dip 3886
before the fight when usman said that he would go toe-to-toe with maz at all
did any of you expect him to literally do it okay i didn't expect him to go colby i didn't expect
him to do that i did think though though that Usman wouldn't have been as
evolved and comfortable with one training camp with Trevor Whitman to show you certain wrinkles.
And I did think if Masvidal stuffed some takedowns, which oh by the way he did,
that you would see a little bit more aggressive, if not quasi-reckless Usman, if they were
exchanging and he was having some success,
you know, particularly later in the fight too. If Masvidal started to gas, which I thought Masvidal
was going to gas a lot more, Luke, because I thought he was going to go for broke a lot more.
So I was, you know, expecting a scenario where he goes, I got a tired guy in front of me.
I'm up on the cards. I could really stamp this home that I'm a future star let me go for that knockout let
me not do what's smart i'm going to give him credit for playing it safe because it was in that
mold where he could have been knocked out so no not in the traditional sense of let's put it on
the table no yeah i mean maybe in spurts but the thing is like with fighting colby you know you can
take it can maybe hit you with a good shot, or you can take enough damage over time,
where it, over time, accumulates into something kind of bad.
Dude, with Jorge, it goes bad to worse fast.
You just don't have a lot of time,
if you're on the losing end of things,
to make an adjustment.
Did I expect him to, for minutes on end,
strike with him?
No.
Fuck no.
Why would you do that?
The last three guys that did that, it didn't go too well for no. Like, why would you do that? The last three guys that did
that, it didn't go too well for them. You'd be stupid to do that. And Kamaru is many things,
but stupid is not one of them. So no, I didn't expect in that particular sense.
All right. At Kaz1386, BC, why is a draw not more common in important fights that are too close to call?
Why not call it a draw and then just run it back?
That's interesting.
I mean, you can't, they say, why not just call it a draw?
The reason is because you score round by round and you put your scores in after the round.
So there's no like, you know, at the end, hey, I know I scored it this way, but Max
really looked like he should have won.
There's none of that.
But in this scenario, a draw would have been so much better, Luke,
because even though it looked like by our eyes that Max should have won,
more people whose opinions mattered thought Volkanovski had won more rounds,
yet in the end, no one really did enough to win that fight without question.
So yes, a draw would have been perfect.
But this brings us to what we mentioned about the
idea of pride rules which is let's score at the end who should have won maybe this was that perfect
kind of fight if you were doing pride judging rules where we don't want numbers and scores from
you we want names you have three options it's either max it's alex or it's even that could
have been a fight where you know two of those three go you know what that's an even fight i need to see this again i am not against that at all but no the
spirit of that question luke is wrong you can't just uh do that why do we see more draws in boxing
because they're 12 rounds the math makes sense also just to add here i don't know what the judges
in this case were told ahead of time in terms of
their judging, but I do know that
there are many commissions, including some of the
bigger ones, that tell their judges
yes, we're not going to say you can't score
an individual fight
or a round, a particular
10-10 or something like that.
We're not saying you can't. We just don't really
want you to. They heavily incentivize
just find a winner. 10-9 one way or the other. Just don't give a 10-10. So they're just pretty
rare. They're pretty rare. You'll see 9-9s, BC, because X will beat Y up, but then do the old
three stooges bit, get a point deducted, and so you'll get a 9-9 in that sense. But they just very
rarely encourage judges to give out 10 tens because they say you know draws
aren't satisfying i don't know man it's a lot more satisfying than a decision that
puts us in the position that we're in now would have been a lot more satisfying i think for max
yeah anyone who said that a draw is like kissing your sister must have grown up in West Virginia, you know? Yeah. All right. So, at JTivo writes, Venom were announced as the new UFC apparel partners, apart from
the shoes.
Do you believe, BC, they will do a better job at fighter promotion and unique designs
and ideas due to be fundamentally linked to MMA and need to be in, quote, good with the
athletes?
Sure. to MMA and need to be in quote good with the athletes uh sure you know when you're a company that's proven in this space yeah they also don't though have the do they have the track record or
reach of a Reebok I don't know but you know at the end of the day I don't really care Luke as
long as the stuff looks okay and as long as the fighters are getting a larger slice of the pie
which you know the press release said they would,
then cool, right?
To me, it's a moot point.
I know some people love getting all up on the apparel,
like whatever, whatever, dude.
Here's the only thing I would add to this
is in the boxing side,
they actually have a Lomachenko sponsorship,
an exclusive one,
and they have something called the Loma line,
and it's like both athleisure
and then also all of his training stuff.
You know, if there's the right opportunity
for a UFC fighter to get that,
I think that'd be kind of cool, you know,
to have their own rash guard,
their own mouthpiece and wraps and gloves
and joggers and hoodies and all that other stuff.
I could see you, Luke.
I could see you lounging around the house in D.C.
in your Israel Adesanya-like sweatpants because there are commenters on this show
that believe you have a, not a bone to pick,
a bone to pull with the fellas at City Kickbox.
And they think you're on the payroll, Luke.
Maybe I do, but did you see the UFC 4 trailer?
So they had Masvidal out in the backyard stuff,
obviously as a callback to his
origins in the fight game.
And then they had this like, Moy-Baran
stuff for
Adesanya with all the Cobras
in the chamber. It's like, let me get this straight.
If Adesanya keeps winning, you can't
do a stylebender line? I mean, you have to be
creatively bankrupt to not do something like that. Now, Lomachenko's a bit of a safe bet in terms of how winning you can't do a style bender line i mean you have to be creatively bankrupt
to not do something like that now lomachenko is a bit of a safe bet in terms of how much you can
rely on him to win it's boxing and of course he's a you know beyond a special case but nevertheless
it's like dude man you know this is the one problem with reebok i've purchased some of their
stuff not the usc fight kits but like just regular sort of reebok training gear it's nice it's good but it's
just no it is good i mean i'm wearing a reebok phil brooks uh you know article of clothing right
now it fits great you know but i mean here's my point it's just lettering with two stars it's
boring as shit they need somebody that can add up the you know add the creative input a lot of
venom stuff if you ask me is a little bit garish but they know the combat sports space and I think
they'll probably do a better job than Reebok I can't where's affliction when we need them right
where's tap out it's an expression of combat known worldwide Luke I know WWE owns it now but
can we just go back to like black t-shirts with with like dripped paint all over it and guys
you know snorting coke and wearing them to fights real tight. Can we just go back to that, Luke? Nothing was better than the days when MMA fans looked like juggalos.
All right.
At Mila...
They still do, by the way.
You don't cover fights anymore.
They kind of still do.
Keep going, Luke.
At Mila Seduardo.
Milast Eduardo.
What do you think is Dana's hesitation, BC?
That's a good question, actually.
To outright say Aljo is next up for
Jan like he did for Burns obviously for yeah easy question easy easy answer here two words for you
Henry Cejudo right big business okay uh yeah dude obviously well I mean look like you know Jan um
against Aljo is like a hardcore fan's wet dream in a lot of ways a lot of these matchups are
but why did Jose Aldo get that fight, right, for business purposes?
If Henry Cejudo comes back and faces the guy who's been sleeping in his bed,
you know, like to UFC, obviously there'd have to be some kind of promise
from Henry Cejudo that you would continue to campaign at 35
if you win your championship back.
You know, to me, without question, that's why.
And Luke, let's be honest also about something that we thought was true
and then actually got confirmed this week when UFC COO Lawrence Epstein
did a bunch of media interviews in Abu Dhabi and basically said,
oh yeah, by the way, those really nice people in Abu Dhabi
that Dana can't stop praising,
they gave us a gorgeous site fee for coming here.
They paid our travel accommodations, food, and our COVID testing. So when you hear Dana White
in that media scrum go, yeah, I'm thinking about even buying a house out here because we're going
to be doing a lot of business here. We are so far removed from the days when Henry Cejudo retired
because there'd be no live gates for at
least nine to 12 months, Luke. Now we got that rich people offering us money to come there.
The game has changed. That's why Henry Cejudo's twigger fingers are fast again. And that's why
Dana won't commit on that. And by the way, Luke, did you listen to Dana on the post-right press
conference? I know he's 50. I know he's getting a little old.
You know, he admits he can't hear.
He looked washed.
He just had no, I mean, it was a long week.
It's probably, you know, 10 in the morning there.
He's probably been up all night.
But sometimes I fear for that man.
He runs ragged, you know?
He certainly does.
To your point, though, by the way, about the extra money, you know,
you have to wonder if that's how they're able to get Masvidal, right?
Burns falls out.
Luke, there's no wonder.
Giant site fee.
That's how they got him, bro.
There ain't no financial concerns anymore.
How much do you think the site fee was?
$10 million?
I'd say more than that.
$20 million? $30 million? $50 million?
From what we know.
Now, look, I'm not trying to generically group uae with their neighbor saudi arabia and say same everything but when we know the the stupid amount of money saudi gave wwe to
come and then when we know that they gave anthony joshua 80 million dollars to come there and face
ruiz i don't think there's a limit luke on what they could have gotten. Yeah, you could sort of say Gulf Arab oil states.
Yeah, they have big money.
You're right, that could do it.
To answer the question about Aljo,
there's also this.
I mean, Aljo is literally, we love him so much.
He's the only fighter we've ever had on this show.
That's it.
He's the only one we've ever allowed to come on the show
because we like him. He's a only one we've ever allowed to come on the show because we
like him. He's a great analyst. We believe
in his upside. But there's also a reality
that he hasn't quite turned that corner yet
in terms of his popularity. I think the
casual audience just doesn't know
who he is. Now, he beats Peter
Yanni, gets on his way, but maybe
they're holding out. Henry Cejudo seems like
a decent choice, or a theory
anyway, holding out for some other kind of option like a decent choice uh or a theory anyway holding out
for some other kind of option face if all joe faces maraish next that'd be that'd be like
that'd make me cry i mean the guy destroyed san hagan you could have we did argue that fight
should have had an interim belt on it it was that big of a fight right and and you know if you if
he's got to now go through another killer come on the guy's the guy's paid his dues put him in there all right uh and then last but not least at little cameron with two n's
asks with both andraja's and aldo's corners telling him that they were decisively winning
their fights early on do mma corners overstate their fighter success as a strategy or do they
actually believe what they're saying it It's hard to parse sometimes,
but never take away from the fact that it is often strategy, which is, um, you might be like,
well, if you're down, wouldn't you want to tell them that they're down so that they fight with
more urgency? Almost like your coach acts as your open scoring. Sure. But they might know their
fighter and they might tell them if they're behind,
they might know that they get nervous. And when they get nervous, they don't perform up to potential. Rather, when they tell them they're doing well, it keeps them calm and calm is smooth,
smooth is fast. And so that kind of a thing. So are they blind to their fighter's chances?
Probably to an extent that's true, but never, ever separate that you see a lot of this.
That is, when you ask him afterwards, like, yeah, of course I knew he was down.
You think I'm blind?
I'm just telling him that so that I can get the best out of him, and that's how I do it.
I tell them fibs, basically.
Yeah, why did Coach Edmund tell Ronda after Holly kicked her ass for five minutes that she was winning?
Look, you're looking great.
Head movement, you know they know their fighters uh break down better than anybody because they see them in the
in the darkest moments in training when they're when they're breaking right when they're pushed
to the limit so i got no problem with that and by the way andraja's corner did hedge it by saying
you know hey you know you look like you're ahead but it could have gone you know it could be the
other way too so whatever i mean look it's like there's certain moments all right if hulk
hogan drops the n-word in pillow talk and it makes it out to the world let's fry him but there are
certain moments when the words you use aren't aren't you know aren't necessarily what you feel
okay is this a way to cover up for all the racist jokes you tell off the air oh wow how first how
dare you how dare you okay no i'm teasing. He doesn't do that.
Not often.
Just sometimes.
All right.
With that in mind, with that in mind, BC, it is time for you to steer the show.
It's time for your little segment where we look at dongs.
Yeah, play the animation.
Okay?
It's time.
Let's go.
This is what you wait for all week.
We search the globe high and low, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and combat sports and
beyond.
It is Have You Seen This Shit? shit and last week we had a birthday edition some people still claiming
was our biggest and best ever luke this week is going to win you over i got great shit you're
ready for it you're ready for it i'm ready i'm ready all right ufc 251 hey big knockout on the
undercard we didn't talk about jerry prozachka sending vulcan Oztemir to hell. But how about this weird Johnny Walker Kato bullshit he pulled out?
You down with this?
Yeah, he's a talent.
I'm not the biggest fan.
I'm not the biggest fan of acting like a donk, but he's got some real ability.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, he's done some things outside of UFC.
It was a strong breakthrough performance.
But I think everybody for the first five minutes was like, who's this asshole?
But hey, big win.
Shout out to that. Did you notice he had three different haircuts the sides were shaved less than the top but the back was shaved not as much as the sides
so he had like a reverse mullet slash a high and tight from the abnormaris playbook when you have
different like ecosystems going on in different parts of your head, Luke, you're in it.
Okay?
I'm down with that.
Okay?
All right?
Chicks still dig that.
Thank you.
Let's move on here.
Hey, top-ranked boxing over the weekend from the bubble in Las Vegas, Corey Champion and Peter Cortez double knockdown!
And by the way, for MMA fans who don't know, as long as your glove touches the mat in boxing,
it's a knockdown.
Bop, bop.
Dude, this top rank.
This is the best that top rank boxing has gotten.
These fights have been dreadful, dude.
I was going to say, one of them went on to knock out the other,
but no one cares, so I didn't look it up.
But this was pretty cool because our guy, Bernardo Osuna,
was doing a live hit with SportsCenter
as this was going on over his shoulder.
So it was a fun little moment there.
But yeah.
All right.
Hey, let's move on here.
Hey, Luke, I'm serious.
This might be the greatest MMA KO of all time.
This guy going six combination mortal combat shit here.
What is this?
What organization?
Who is that?
That is vicious.
Is this like Ares FC, that African joint?
Do you know how many times you have to hit the controller to make that work, Luke?
You got to have like the R1, the T1.
You got to have like eight arms.
Bro, and this guy falls like a mannequin.
I mean, we've seen a lot of great shit on this show and this type of content.
This is tremendous.
Whoever that guy is.
This guy gets knocked out.
That posture is how I sleep on airplanes.
You know what I'm talking about?
Like this, like when you're in your chair, like.
Oh, I mean, that guy was out on his feet
and there was some like Ray Mercer, Tommy Morrison
extra shots thrown on there.
So, wow.
Shout out. Yes, indeed. Hey hey let's go to the bus stop luke can you keep abuelo in order here
i think he tries trying to steal the grocery bags of this fine lady and he gets sent to hell
indirectly look look hammer shots look at fedor right there fedor's mom ground and pound luke
fedor's mom with the old bag and...
I mean, what's this guy doing?
Bro, that is...
Oh, look at this.
Just swatting the flies off this turd.
Amazing.
Luke, if your live-in abuela had the young lady with her and they got in trouble...
But you know what?
This lady looks like Eastern Europe somewhere. Oh, it is. It is. Yeah, they got jackets on and they got you know what this lady looks like this looks like eastern europe somewhere oh it is it is yeah they got jackets on and shit you know this is some mother
russia shit right here i mean shout out to them here but bro i like how she doesn't even hesitate
she would go old world savage if she needed to right and because your dc's a crazy place did i
ever tell you about the taxi ride i had in New York City where this dude went crazy?
This is a true story.
I actually told half of this story on my live chat, but I'll finish the other part, which I didn't tell.
There was this bar I used to go to in New York City.
It was constantly fights there.
It's called the Village Idiot.
I don't know if it's still around.
I remember one time I got picked up by this dude.
I don't know where he was from, but he was dark complexion, man.
And this guy was leaving Village Idiot drunk and was walked in front of my taxi cab driver and then like you know hammer fisted the hood of the car and my taxi cab driver got out and like got in his face shouting
match gets back in and yells at the guys he's driving off don't fuck with me motherfucker i'll motherfucker. I'll stab you. I'm third world. One of the all-time greatest cab rides I've ever had.
That's a great quote. In fact, when we launched 2.0 of the MK merch, we should get that as a
quote on the chest there. Yes. Wow. All right, let's move on. Hey, Luke, weightlifting fails
are right in your wheelhouse. Check out the deadlift follies on this guy.
He's jacked.
He's focused.
And he might be on queer street here, Luke.
What's going on?
Explain to me what's happening here.
He locked out his knees, which you're supposed to,
but he held his breath too long,
and he did a rear naked choke on himself, basically.
Oh, my gosh.
Because you're holding you're
holding your breath see that and to me if you're doing a one rep max some people say not to do it
but if i get dizzy at the top of a one rep max i actually let out a little bit of air because you
have to hold in air to brace against the belt and it looks like he just keeps it got dizzy drops the
weight and then he did the old fish dance.
This is embarrassing, right?
I mean, this is bad.
This does not look good.
Well, I saw a guy do this at Gold's, and then he went ass over tea kettle,
and I had to call over a guy to help him, and then he left the gym in shame.
So I've seen worse, believe me.
I love Jay, the producer, sitting in the back with that red tank top,
looking at his Instagram likes, you know, just like, yeah, nothing to see here.
Yeah, that's how Jay, this is Jay, basically,
this is his MK, this is what he does during the show.
The show's blown up, the audio isn't synced, you know,
I mean, yeah, all right, hey, let's move on.
Hey, you know friend of the program, UFC Bantamweight,
Brian Boom Kelleher?
Yeah.
Check out his doppelganger here,
going all Florida man party trick on us with the double
nipple ass titties ass and titties god god check out the areolas on that guy wow that's gonna hurt
luke that is fucking gross are them are them white claws what is he drinking there? That's, yeah. Boy, that is, yeah, my man needs psychological counseling here.
He does look like our guy, though, right?
He kind of looks like him.
He does, but then he's drinking, like, the Bud Light challenge to white claw.
You know?
In fact, I don't know if I've ever seen this guy and Boom Kelleher in the same room.
Can we advance the footage here?
Are you, by the way, are you a White Claw guy or no?
No.
No, hell no.
No.
Right?
That's him.
Luke, that's him.
Yeah, but you know what?
Brian Kelleher is smart enough not to drive things through his nipples and then hang White Claw from him.
Or is he?
No, no.
He's a great guy.
Love that guy.
Former MMA beat panelist.
That's right.
Shout out to that.
Hey, Luke, let's flash back a
little remember when we were kids and and a young shaquille o'neal on the magic used to just break
the shit out of backboards look remember him on inside stuff with ahmad rashad just i mean what's
your favorite one when he when he broke the backboard on duane shinses's head do we have
that one jay by the way everybody hates ahmad rash, so this might be the best one.
This one's great against the Nets here, rookie year.
Dwayne Chintz is his mullet under the rim,
and Shaq's just like, get out of the way.
Just a one-man wrecking crew.
I mean, he's just savage, and then he broke the whole support against the Suns that game.
I think we got that one, too.
Where is this headed?
Well, Shaq is 48 now and pretty fat,
but he was filming a reality show with Gronk,
and they went one-on-one, and Luke, he still got it.
Check this out.
Yeah.
Dude.
He just pulled that shit right off.
Dude, Shaq is just a fucking...
He is from a different dimension, this man.
I mean, imagine he pulls up at a local park
and just pulls the whole thing down
and gets back in his car and drives away.
Did you ever see the Howard Stern episode
where he talked about Little Shack
and no, I don't mean his children?
Oh, no.
I'm sure it was a long conversation.
Sorry, yes.
He said it's so big
that he has seen
women run out of the room screaming when they look at it we got to get an interview with shack i know
all the smoke is probably first in line for that but we got to get an interview with shack and ask
him just that hey uh speaking of breaking back boards luke you know our friend jay jay coming in
oh they interviewed him last week all right well i don't think they asked that because we asked the hard-hitting questions.
If we did an interview with Shaq, I would only want to talk about his dong.
That is on brand for MK.
But you know Instagram drinking legend Ronnie Deutsch, our boy?
Yes.
He has a tribute to Shaq while he wears that Antonio Cromartie t-shirt.
We drink the beer.
We've got the cigarette.
This guy, by the way, if you're not following him on Instagram,
he knows how to party up there in New Hampshire.
This guy's living.
Wait, but does it really count as a Cromartie jersey
if you're not dunking on one of his 75,000 kids?
Yeah, he did make a joke in that on his Instagram.
But, hey, that's impressive pulling that down.
This guy, I've got to talk to this guy.
He probably slays.
I mean, he's got some
he's got some um intangible skills look if we have the next time we do a drinking show like
in person whatever the hell that is we got to get this guy on the show man we need we need this guy
this guy's a future star and i hope barstool doesn't steal him from us all right he is a
future star in the making here uh let's go on to more party tricks luke this has happened to a lot
of us in our college days right you go to hit the bong and it's go on to more party tricks. Luke, this has happened to a lot of us in our college days, right?
You go to hit the bong and it's
deep and you're in that moment and you're like,
man, did I go too far? Did I take too
much in? Am I going to get KO'd
here? You're kind of
stumbling and no one's really
looking at you and you're wearing your dad's
shirt and yeah,
that is not...
Oh God, it's over.
Wave it off.
Leon Roberts, jump in.
It's over.
You know, they say you can't OD on marijuana, but you can get pretty close.
Yeah, yeah, you can shut down a few of your internal organs if you get...
This is how I want to end every one of my days.
Yes, yes.
You know, I once worked at a nursing home.
I found a bag of purple haze in the drain at the end of the day
when we were done mopping the floors, Luke.
The guy looked at me.
I picked up.
He goes, I would try that.
And I did.
It was the best ever.
Best ever, Luke.
Found it in a drawer.
I had a moving company move some of my stuff once
when they came up and they packed all my stuff.
And then when I unpacked it, I had a box with the word bong on it and sure enough they had wrapped my bong in there
and I found out who the two guys were who moved me and I gave them another tip after that because
they took such good care with labeling and with the bubble wrap wow nice nice work you know tip
to tip there I like that all right all right if they would hung around all night, you would have given them another tip.
Hey, let's play a game, Luke.
We always play fun games here.
Let's play rate that golf swing.
One to ten.
Ten being the best.
All right.
Whoa, whoa.
I jumped the gun.
Check out this first.
Look at this cow getting revenge for all the gas station beef I've eaten, Luke.
What in the fuck are we watching?
I don't know, but he's about the third world them
bitches right there you see that
he's like oh you got beef rollers on that and that gas station dude shouts to the girl
and who makes the leap off of the one look she almost falls but she doesn't actually
look at this they got the hell out of there. I mean, were they tipping cows?
What are they doing here?
She jumps.
She nearly falls.
Sticks the landing and keeps going.
Very impressive.
That is great.
All right.
Let's play the golf game.
Luke, I need you to rate me here.
One to ten on the golfs.
Are you a golfer, by the way?
I go to the driving range.
That's it.
All right.
Here's six foot nine Tyson Fury, your boxing heavyweight champion. What do you think, Luke? You know what? Not half bad. I'll give the driving range. That's it. All right. Here's 6'9", Tyson Fury, your boxing heavyweight champion.
What do you think, Luke?
You know what?
Not half bad.
I'll give him an eight.
Yeah, seven and a half.
Seven.
Okay.
Okay.
Let's move on here.
Here's Sylvester Stallone's 22-year-old daughter, Sistine, Luke.
Oh, God.
Was she jailbait?
She was 19 when this video was shot. But that is present.
So you can, you know, it's okay.
Her name is Sistine, like the chapel?
Like the chapel.
Then this is a pretty pristine shot here.
Luke, I'm going to give this video a few shots.
But the first shot I'm going to give her is maybe like a seven, right?
That's pretty good.
Shoeless, you know, in a dress.
Yeah, she's shoeless. I'mless let's do that right yeah all right all right let's bring on the legend here the the hall of famer rate this
guy's swing luke is this charles this is sir charles yes this this this fat bastard is about
to just break his back dude what is wrong with this idiot?
By the way, we have not played with this video at all.
It's still going, Luke.
It's still going.
I like how he has two strokes and actual heart attacks in the middle of the fucking swing.
Watch.
He pulls it back.
Here we go.
Watch this.
He pulls it back.
All right. Everything's fine. Watch this. He pulls it back. All right.
Everything's fine.
He kind of strokes out right here.
And then he has another one.
And then he's reaching for his life alert button to hit it because he's falling and he can't get up.
And then he takes a step back.
Watch this.
Bah.
Yeah.
It's the equivalent of you practicing the rhythm method when you're 17 with a magazine
right to prepare for the future oh yeah i mean this is you know i mean this is mclovin
trying to figure out what to do with a model like all right i'm gonna give him a zero thank you
that's the worst swing ever let's move on though check out this random asian guy
this might he might be revolutionary here on this swing here the fuck is he doing that's how you get lift right there i'm gonna give him a nine luke that's badass
yeah but i need to see how far he hit it jay thinks it looks like ichiro hitting a baseball
this guy's gotta be great in bed too look at this man i mean this yeah all right hey let's go on
from here check out mitch kumstein this is how i mean this yeah all right hey let's go on from here check out
mitch kumstein this is how i golf luke all right check out the black socks uh the the hands far
apart you know no idea where you're going with it and watch out earth because i'm coming for you uh
yeah all right dude i want to just want to point out with the black socks here and a shirt with
like the collar popped unbuttoned,
this is what your boy looks like when he's walking the dogs at night.
That's me on all public golf courses my entire life.
That's why I don't do it anymore.
Dude, what is...
This is, I mean, it's like CM Punk's UFC career right here.
Yeah, Spalding, get your foot off the boat.
Indeed.
Let's close it out with Crappy Gilmore.
Wait, wait, wait.
Look at the guy in the back room.
The back?
Wait, go back.
Go back.
Jay, go back.
Jay, go back.
Jay, go back.
Go back.
Go back to the other one.
Jay, there's gold.
Jay, there's gold there.
Look at the guy.
Oh, this guy, Fox.
He is great.
Look at that.
Just flossing. Oh, there's as. He is great. Look at that. Just flossing.
Oh, there's a nice bonus Easter egg there.
That was great.
All right.
That's what I'm going to do to your toothbrush the first time I visit your house.
All right.
Hey, let's close with Crappy Gilmore here.
The three-step drive.
I mean, it's an interesting concept if you can pull it off.
You know what I mean?
Do you watch 90 Day Fiance?
No, but a lot of people.
Jonathan Coachman doing podcasts about it?
Yeah.
So this guy looks like Big Ed from 90 Day Fiance.
Just no neck.
Just fat as Christ.
I love the friends.
The friends are making that.
That is great.
All right.
This is, no, no.
This guy is me and my career attempts, and his friends are my family.
Let's go on to music.
Look at this Phil Spector lookalike with a very interesting guitar, Luke.
It's made by a company called Epstein.
Oh, God.
Did you see that documentary on Netflix? oh yeah hey they they arrested galane
people are about to go down i mean people did go down before yeah people went down on but yeah
they're about to go down luke i don't know if you can play this without getting arrested but
it's an interesting concept right yeah that's that's a little too creepy for your boy i bet you a cannibal corpse has has has uh yeah yeah yeah
they've rocked that axe all right uh luke long live the silver surfer this is how i used to
arrive at the morning combat studio in new jersey which we'll never see again by the way but check
out this old legend right here dude what is this kung fu master doing i'll have what he's having that is tremendous
yeah dude this guy is uh i don't know what is he wearing like uh he's like a mix between a kung fu
master and the dude from back to the future doc yes doc hey by the way did you ever see the
documentary about back to the future called back in time no i don't watch crap it was poorly directed but it's pretty good though it's on hulu
all right uh we're gonna close with this luke uh happy birthday yesterday to the legend julio
cesar chavez senior 58 years old and look at him working the bag, baby. Wow. Still got it. Still got it, Luke. Pretty good.
Still got it.
He's literally still better than anyone who's ever hit a heavy bag at a Gold's gym.
Pretty much, yeah.
Pretty much.
I think he could probably.
I mean, they don't have a senior division in boxing for a reason, but he's looking pretty good right here.
Hey, remember he used to have a son that fought?
Remember that guy?
What was his name?
I don't know. He chavez jr uh he still posts videos on instagram once in a
while jade can you play it uh what the what is happening here luke what is um what is yeah
um is this really him that's really him green hair and everything luke that's um
that's stylish poor scene what do you think's in that bag yeah two different kinds of hit in
the bag there all right i mean ketamine and yeah i got one more for you on the way out. Check out producer Jay on vacation at the Louvre going tip on tip MK style.
Your thoughts?
Did he follow this up by doing the lame tourist thing at the leaning tower of
peace,
a pizza where he just like pushes it up,
you know,
he did.
Yes.
All right.
And literally he did.
Jay is every American idiot.
You know, luckily for us,
the American passport is now worthless
and we can't go anywhere.
But, you know, when Jay could,
he made a mockery of Americans everywhere.
Thank you, Jay.
You know, you got to give Jay credit
for his shameless pursuit of fame.
He's come so close so many times, Luke.
He had that boy band, No Escape.
He's got documentaries.
Yet this show is what's going to make him.
This show right here.
The one about dongs.
This show.
Probably.
Probably his best shot.
Last shot, really, anyway.
Yeah, yeah.
All right.
He had a good run there.
Oh, that's the shit of the week, Luke.
I hope you saw it.
All right.
I did.
I certainly did.
Great job, my friend, as always. Time for odds and ends bc what do you have for
odds and ends uh ufc4 is the new video game really you know uh released uh coming up but it was
debuted over the weekend in terms of unveiling it as you mentioned masvidal adesanya on the cover
but the big reveal that had been teased before anth Joshua and Tyson Fury as playable characters now this
isn't abnormal they've had Mike Tyson Bruce Lee in the past it's a fun little add-on I think you
can order early and get that or whatever but I'm wondering Luke if there's something deeper there
we do know that Dana has teased this Zufa boxing idea forever that hasn't gotten off the ground we
know that he loves him some Tyson Fury and we know that that is the fight to make aj versus fury once they get through all their
mandatories i wonder if this is his way of of buttering up close to them and and with the
hope and idea that eventually he could put that fight on pay-per-view and have some role in it
i'm spitballing here but you know that controversial dude who Fury rolls with, right?
The gangster?
Yeah.
Doesn't he operate in the UAE?
I'm wondering if they all showed up
at the same Eyes Wide Shut party without pants,
and this is like a slow play toward something bigger,
but it's interesting.
Are you going to play the game?
I'm going to buy...
Okay, so people got on me for a mention
i made where i was keeping my kids on the ps3 humble level i help them buy a an xbox one so i
we we've upped our game luke okay i just downloaded uh mortal combat which we can have a discussion
on another show it's freaking incredible but i think i'm gonna buy ufc3 and work my way in
why did you buy an
xbox one when the new xbox is coming out in like a matter of months because i've been making my
kids play ps3 for as long as they've been able to speak luke okay all right we you know things
happen in in in waves in increments all right uh okay is that it for your can i play you can i play
you in in uh in mortal combat I don't know how that works.
I play off my PC.
I don't know enough about gaming to tell you if we can or not.
I'm assuming we can, but maybe not.
We'll get a nerd to figure that out.
Yeah, we'll get one of our nerds to figure that out.
Also, Luke, I wanted to shout out this.
I know everyone on Twitter and Facebook is talking about the play Hamilton
that's now a movie on Disney+, and I didn't want to buy into the hype and i
didn't want to watch it but my wife forced us as a family the other night and even though my kids
only made it like 15 minutes and they were out um and even though it's long as balls that's freaking
fantastic luke there's sometimes culture is so good that it can't even be lost on simpletons like me
um top to bottom it's freaking fantastic and luke um it was very reminiscent of like the first time
you listen to the album rumors by fleetwood mac you're like i know everybody and their mother
owns that it sold 46 billion copies and i know half the kids i went to high school with were
conceived to that album but it really can't be that good right a bunch of husbands and wives divorcing each other. And then you listen to it
and you're like, you know, all right, this is okay. I know that song. That's pretty good. And
then by the end, you're like, this is freaking brilliant. I kind of went through that hamster
wheel on good old Hamilton there and that a-hole Aaron Burr, you know, well done. Do you watch that
yet? Hamilton is hip hop for lame people who don't like hip hop.
So no, I've not seen it and I'm not going to see it.
I went into the Kennedy Center and I saw the Book of Mormon there, which was done by the
South Park guys.
And I remember going and I really enjoyed it.
If you've not seen it, it's good.
It's great.
It's very funny.
It's fine.
It's worth your time. But there were people in there beside themselves laughing
when it's not even as good as the South Park movie.
And if you watch South Park, it's just,
I'm not going to say run-of-the-mill South Park,
but it's standard South Park.
And so the lesson I took there was,
there were people who are patrons of the Kennedy Center
here in the capital of Los Estados Unidos
who are not used to South Park, but delivered through a mechanism that they can enjoy and commonly appreciate, which is musicals.
It's South Park for people who don't like South Park.
Hamilton.
You just dropped a doogie on Hamilton.
What's your beef?
Are you trying to say that you're so evolved?
I'm Alexander Hamilton, and I'm here to say i want to free slaves in a major
way it's like who the fuck could like this shit if you at all like hip-hop it's just not possible
so i like hip-hop you know to a degree but um is that what you like you like hip-hop
luke it's freaking brilliant in every, from performance to how it was written to the mixture of history that not everyone loves
with a hip rapping paper applied to it.
You're really just going to crap on it
as stuff for white people to watch at home?
Yes.
Hamilton is something for people
who the most they can get down with rap
is either Queen Latifah or Jurassic 5,
and they drink a Red Bull for pep.
Did you see it?
Did you watch it, though?
That is the extent of their ability
to get into that art form.
But did you watch it?
Because I just laid out my inhibitions coming in.
I didn't want to watch that crap.
I've never eaten a shit sandwich.
I'm fairly confident I don't need to.
You know what I'm saying?
It's just not for me. Oh, Luke, you might have stumbled into a bad take here you may have this
may be the listen i understand i understand that there are plenty of uh late i'm not saying i'm not
lame in my own way i am but if you actually like hip-hop as an art form listening to hamilton is
fucking painful it is legitimately painful.
Long excerpts that I've seen have done nothing
but make my rear end
itch and my stomach want to
vomit. First of all,
break into a hemp-infused Kalo
so you can chill the hell out. Jay, can you break this
tiebreaker? I'm sure you and your
kids have sat down and watched
this. Jay, when you were
watching Hamilton in a room
that had an AC unit in the window,
like a fucking redneck, what did you think?
Jay, can we get a one-word verdict, Jay?
All right, okay, but let me frame this.
Jay just shat on it, too,
but everything Jay watches, including The Last Dance, he refuses himself
to enjoy it because he critiques
the directing. So come on.
All of y'all get out of here, okay?
I didn't watch it for the wrap, by the way.
Every time.
Look at this
doofus. Look at him.
That male body proves
three children, alright? Thank you.
Okay? Jay is proof you should
get a license before you can procreate i mean look at this zero unbelievable but luke seriously
you've listened to rumors by the end of it you're like this is a masterful piece of production this
is incredible i'm down with flitwood mac but dude'm just telling you, I've seen long excerpts of Hamilton.
It is painful for me to watch.
Legitimately painful.
I cannot take it. I think you're trying to be so hard right now that you backed yourself
into a corner you can't get out.
I'm a 40-year-old, soon-to-be 41-year-old white dad.
Nothing I like is cool, and I understand that.
I'm just telling you, I don't know how you can actually
like, for me, I'm
listening to Crime Pays by
Freddie Gibbs.
Listening to Hamilton is like
it's not possible.
It's just the worst shit ever.
I'm going to listen to your bullshit cannibal
corpse and be like, man, this is
for kids, man. I want the real stuff
that's going to make me blow my brain out.
You know, no, get out of here, Luke.
You can listen to Aborted and Gore Guts.
That might be more your thing.
I mean, come on.
I mean, yeah.
I was going to do, for my odds and ends, Yuri Prohodchka, but we kind of already covered
him.
So let me get to the other piece of news that I found interesting.
Jared Gordon, I think, fights either Wednesday or Saturday.
I'm not sure.
But here's the deal, BC.
I'm sure you saw this.
His entire team tested positive for COVID.
He had nobody.
So you know what?
Two men stood out and said, we got you, player.
Number one, Paul Felder, who I think is managed by the same guy, Brian Butler.
And then number two, don't forget he's already there because Dan Ige is taking on Calvin Cater on Wednesday.
Eric Nixick from Extreme Couture said, I got you, player. Don't forget he's already there because Dan Ige is taking on Calvin Cater on Wednesday.
Eric Nixick from Extreme Couture said, I got you, player.
Shouts to Paul Felder.
Shouts to Eric Nixick on short notice, helping a guy out inside the MMA community who needs a hand. And you know what?
I don't like taking sides in MMA fights when I'm covering them,
but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to see Jared Gordon get his hand raised.
And amazing that those two guys are so generous
with their time. Paul Felder, by the way, commentating
that card, leaving the booth,
cornering, and then
going back to the booth. That's badass. Amazing.
That's pretty badass there. I thought you were going to say
Clay Travis elected to jump in,
but no. No. He's too
busy telling every epidemiologist
that their expertise is not wanted here.
Hey, Luke, can you update our bet?
When are we going to see full arenas?
Because New Zealand's doing a lot of interesting...
Not anytime soon.
Well, Australia just announced
they're going to do that Jeff Horn-Tim Zoo Jr. fight
in front of a crowd.
Yeah, but the bet was not Australia.
I mean, the bet was here.ralia i mean the bet was here
all right give me a date give me a date right now you don't have to you know i'm not gonna put you
i'm not gonna hold you to this date okay so we're saying we're saying we're saying okay i think you
and i both would agree it's gonna be much more likely to be outdoors than indoors right okay
indoors indoors is gonna be a problem for a while. So $20,000.
Oh, by the way, I don't know if you saw this.
The Ravens Stadium, M&T Bank Stadium, it seats like 70,000 plus.
They're going to arrange it for outdoor seating.
And they paired it down to 14,000, right?
Which is a shitload of people they're giving up.
But that's how they get it to socially distance and blah, blah, blah.
So when will we see M&T Bank Stadium filled with 14,000 people?
The bet was more full arenas.
Not compromised.
You sit on this half and I'll sit on that half.
You mean like 70,000 people?
Yeah.
That was my bet.
I don't even know.
I wouldn't want to make that
claim 14 000 like mgm grand filled right or you know indoors man that's gonna be hard dude
that's just gonna be a really hard thing to do i'm not saying i'm confident in our bed anymore
things are changing rapidly luke yeah thank you yeah they certainly are so we'll see but but by
the way it wasn't officially confirmed uh bellator might have a show indoors, Mohegan Sun, July 24th.
So be on the lookout for that as well.
We're waiting for some confirmation, I think.
Okay.
Yeah, we're waiting for a big announcement on the future of fight sports.
You know, with our brother.
BC, we should say something real quickly.
We saw the ad roll at the beginning of the show.
You finished it.
I finished it.
Five-part series.
Two episodes have aired.
Although, if you would like to go binge it on the app you can outcry on showtime sundays 10 p.m eastern time so you just finished it what
did you make did i oversell that that was a really good show no and look we you know we we will
support our our the people who pay us in in in public side stuff but uh will we go above and
beyond luke will we will we really i'll go above and beyond, Luke? Will we? Will we really? I'll go above and beyond
for this one. This is freaking fantastic.
Compelling as shit.
Obviously, it's a real story, so that adds a lot
of elements to it. There are so many twists
and turns that you just, you know,
you don't see them coming, and I think the film
does a, the series does an incredible job
at leaving
you to be the judge throughout most of it.
You know, there's a lot of moments where
you question what you believe coming in and then it changes and all that and uh that's the sign of
great documentarianism but i think just overall the real story uh you know after it's done airing
luke i'd like to do you know a breakdown with you because there's a lot of unanswered questions at
the end of that film that uh that are very interesting i'll say this who did you find to be the most impressed i'm gonna leave it open-ended who did you find once the series was
over to be the most impressive person in terms of ability or character not name maybe you think
it's greg let's let's take him out of the equation from all yeah because greg's character is
incredible um well lawyer greg kelly's lawyer the southern jafela that guy's like i'll look
luke if i ever get not the first lawyer the second lawyer oh yeah yeah yeah the first lawyer's got
got some some skeletons yeah oh that the second lawyer is a freaking genius he's and he's
well the girlfriend is the right so the second lawyer or the girlfriend slash i don't want to give it away significant
others what i'll leave it as she her level of commitment dude that's uh she is down for the
cause man there are plenty of heroes and villains in this film and the best part is you never really
know who's which for for good stretches of it even that guy another hero is that advocate and i was
waiting for him to turn at some point, too.
He seemed a little too much of a busybody.
I will say that the new district attorney was another guy who I was like, you know what?
I can trust this guy.
The Texas Ranger, too.
I mean, he's the least trustworthy Texas Ranger since Josh Hamilton at a party, you know?
With that in mind, BC, we have to get going.
Well, hold on, hold on, hold on.
Gabry, kind of sneaky hot, too. I don't know if we're allowed to say that
out loud, but yeah. Nah, not my type.
You know me. I like it when they speak four
languages and throw drinks in my face.
And beat people up at bus stops.
Got it. Yes. If you can't hammer fist
with a purse, I don't know what you can do.
If you can't get third world on my ass, yes.
I got you. It's such a great quote, dude. I'll'll never forget it uh with that in mind if you want some merch from the
mk store and why wouldn't you you can go to store.show s-h-o.com plenty of mk merch up there
hoodies sweatshirts shirts hats tumblers we should get flasks uh we should get shot glasses you know something that uh ronnie
deutsch could use bc what do you think yeah we should you and i should commandeer a meeting
with the people that run this place uh i think i think merch launch 2.0 is going to be even better
and the first one was great by the way love the colors love the feel everything fits great too
so i'm fired up about that um i'm not looking for mk condoms or anything weird like that all right
joe exotic can sell his own stuff like that.
Let's step up our game a little. It's going to be
fantastic. A little creativity would be nice.
I would like a sweatshirt that says
it's Monday on the arm.
It says, be it as it may over
here or whatever Luke's other catchphrases
are. My catchphrases are like
be that as it may or
in any event is another one I always say.
If I might, BC. If I might, BC.
If I might, BC.
Yeah.
How about just a shirt that says BC 5,000 times on it?
That would be a good Luke shirt.
Yeah.
