I'm Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley with Georgia Howl.
It's Thursday, August 1st, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and former U.S.
Paul Whelan have been released by Russia in a prisoner swap with the U.S.
Daily Wire senior editor, Cabot Phillips, has more.
Three Americans detained in Russia have been released following the largest East-West prisoner swap of the post-Soviet era.
The agreement reached Thursday morning, included 24 total prisoners and seven countries, including the U.S., Poland, Germany, Slovenia, and Norway.
Included among the 16th set free from Russia are dissidents, journalists, human rights advocates, and other political prisoners.
The three Americans released were Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gerskovich,
journalist and radio broadcaster Al-Sou Khrmashva and retired Marine Paul Whalen.
For their part, the Russians received eight men, including a number of suspected spies and one convicted
murderer. Here's President Biden speaking at a White House ceremony with family members of those set free.
Russian authorities arrested them, convicted them in show trials, and sentenced them the long prison terms
with absolutely no legitimate reason whatsoever, none. And now their brutal ordeal is over.
and they're free.
The mastermind behind the 9-11 attacks will be spared the death penalty.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and two of his co-conspirators have been given a plea deal by the Biden-Harris
Department of Justice.
The three men agreed to plead guilty to all charges stemming from the murder of all 2,976 victims.
Families of those victims have made clear that they believe the men should face the death penalty
for perpetrating the most deadly terror attack on U.S. soil in American history.
I am very disappointed that a plea deal was given today to Khalik Sheikh Mohammed down in
Guantanamo Bay.
All three terrorists have been held in Guantanamo Bay prison since their arrest.
Allies of former President Trump are courting young voters, especially men, and spending $20 million to do it.
Here with more as Daily Wire reporter, Zach Jewell.
The NELC Boys, hosts of the popular Full Send podcast, will announce a voter registration and get-out-the-vote effort on Friday's episode featuring Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance.
The multimillion dollar effort will focus on the battleground states of Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada, and will partner with both entertainers and athletes, many from the UFC and MMA.
A pre-fight event in Las Vegas on September 14th will require proof of voter registration, with more events scheduled for.
for Scottsdale, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.
The formal presidential nomination for Kamala Harris is underway, as Democratic Party
delegates began virtual voting earlier today. Democrats have long planned to nominate their candidate
online ahead of the Democratic National Convention. Harris is expected to make her vice-presidential
nomination soon as she'll begin campaigning with her nominee on Tuesday in Philadelphia.

A teenager has been charged after a stabbing spree in England that killed three young girls.
Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.
A 17-year-old boy reportedly stabbed 11 children and two adults at a dance class.
In addition to the three tragic deaths, five of those children and both.
adults are still in critical condition. Police have not declared a motive yet and sparked controversy
after saying the attack was not terror-related. Earlier this week, rioters outraged by the attack
took to the streets, burning cars, and even attacking a mosque. Here's what that sounded like.
53 cops were injured and 111 rioters were arrested. Officials said the violence
stemmed from misinformation surrounding the suspect's identity. A trial for the stabbing
suspect is tentatively set for January next year.
Democrats are attempting to undo the Supreme Court's presidential immunity ruling.
Senator Chuck Schumer has introduced legislation called the No Kings Act,
declaring that presidents do not have immunity from criminal actions taken in the line of duty.
Schumer and fellow Democrats sponsored the bill after President Biden announced his plan for Supreme Court term limits,
an ethics code, and a constitutional amendment limiting presidential immunity.
The Act is unlikely to pass both houses of Congress.
The Biden administration is looking to reform airlines' family seating policies.
The administration proposed a new rule today that would automatically seat kids next to a parent without extra fees.
The Department of Transportation was directed by Congress earlier this year to draft a regulation requiring carriers to have a family seating policy.
The rule will not take effect for months as it goes through public comment and final approval stages.
And Boar's Head, the popular deli meat product is recalling 7 million pounds of cold cuts and ready-to-eat meat products due to Listeria contamination.
Two people have died and more than 30 have become sick across 13 states due to the exposure.
The recall notice on the USDA website says a liverwurst sample in Maryland tested positive for Listeria.
The sell-by dates ranged from July 29th to October 17th.
