We talked to the Attorney General of one of those states. I think that it's surprising to everybody that he's now so unwilling to talk. His diary is going to do a lot of talking for him, and I'll be looking closely at that. Wildfires continue to rage in Washington, while more details emerge about the arrest of an arson. suspect. They witness, the citizen, very good citizen, he noticed the male was bending down near some grass. And an armed man is arrested outside of Trump golf course ahead of the

The stock market continues to break records as the S&P 500 touched a new high,

Starting point is 00:02:30 and the Dow surged before close on Tuesday. The spike is being driven in part by earnings releases from major tech firms and reassurance from Treasury Secretary Scott Besant. Joining us now is Steve Moore, former economic advisor to President Trump. Steve, thanks for coming on. Thank you. So we're coming off a huge day of trading yesterday. How much of what we're seeing in stocks is due to earning calls with companies like Palantir and SpaceX, and then how much of that growth is being driven by investor confidence

Starting point is 00:03:00 in the actual U.S. economy itself? Well, a little bit of both. I mean, as my friend Larry Kedla would say, earnings are the mother's milk of the stock market. So obviously, when earnings are good, the stock market goes up. And the investors liked what they saw with respect to these earnings numbers

Starting point is 00:03:16 that were reported in the last couple of days. But there's also just a sense of confidence in the Trump policies. You know, obviously Iran has not gone nearly like we would have hoped, but you look at the other indicators on the U.S. economy. really showing great improvement. We've got a manufacturing boom going on in this country.

Starting point is 00:03:34 We have a technological boom. AI is here, and it's already leading to amazing productivity improvements. Construction. We're building stuff all over, whether it's public infrastructure, whether it's data centers, whether it is factories. They're being built here in the United States. And then let's not forget, we had the Trump tax cut. That's something that every single Democrat voted against,

Starting point is 00:03:56 but it is money in people's pockets. It's reduced. cost of investing here in the United States, and it's been like a magnet. So all of those things explain this economy, which, you know, look, people are still angry about food prices and gas prices, but so much of the other things that are going on are very positive. Now, we've been reporting on fears about the AI bubble, and now what is your perspective on this? Are you wary of, you know, the speed that these stock valuations have been rising? Well, first of all, let me say I'm not a very good stock picker, so maybe I'm not the best

Starting point is 00:04:28 first than to ask that question. But of course, you know, you look at these, many of these companies have these valuations worth many multiple billions of dollars, in some cases trillions of dollars, and yet they don't have, some of them don't even have earnings yet. So a lot of this is based on what people are predicting the future. But then on the other hand, I'm an economist, so I have two hands, right? On the other hand, look at what happened with people who invested in Google or people invested in Apple or people invested in Vindia, as my wife did early on. And we've made a great fortune off of that. So I think there is something to be said getting in on these companies early. Now, another major factor has been the price of oil, which tends to move along

Starting point is 00:05:11 with news coming out of the Strait of Hermuz. Scott Bessent has said the administration could be close to a deal. There's been a lot of back and forth on that recently, of course. How should the average American investor be looking at the situation with Iran? I mean, I think with skepticism, because everything we've been told for the last couple of months seems not to have happened. So I think people should have a skeptical eye. Eventually, this situation will get resolved. It's a shame, you know, I'm 66 years old for most of my life. You know, we've been very vulnerable to disruptions in supply in the Middle East. And they are not a reliable. source. Thank God we have a president who's doing drill baby drill and producing as much oil and gas

Starting point is 00:05:57 here at home. You know, the United States today is the number one producer of oil and gas in the world, thanks to Trump and also the fracking revolution, but also we are a net exporter of oil and gas. For the first time in 50 years, we're actually producing more oil and gas than we consume. So this has been a triumphant Trump energy policy. Now you've mentioned one major thing here as a final question, you know, energy looks like a very positive for you going forward. Anything else that you feel gives you a lot of confidence about the economy in the coming months and years? Yeah, I think that the fact that we're doing so much investing in this country, I think that we're just as the United States dominated the Internet age for the last 20 years,

Starting point is 00:06:40 you know, nine of the top 10 technology companies in the world are here in the U.S. of A. we have to make sure that we dominate the next phase of robotics and artificial intelligence, and we're in a good position to do that. So, of course, we need to buy – I know it's controversial, but we need to build data centers, but we should only build the data centers and the communities that want them. A major battle there that we've also reported on. I know. And I don't think that's out of the news cycle just yet.

Starting point is 00:09:23 The resolution is expected to pass, and Paul says he plans to refer Fauci directly to the Justice Department for prosecution. Meanwhile, three states, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana are now actively investigating Fauci. Joining us now is the Attorney General of one of those states, Louisiana, Liz Merle. Attorney General, thank you so much for coming on. Great to be with you, John. So your state has already helped lead a significant lawsuit against the government that involved COVID, that was similar to the case that Daily Wire brought, in fact. Now, you have this new investigation. Let's start with this testimony from last week. From a prosecutor's perspective, what did you make of Fauci invoking the fifth more than a hundred times?

Starting point is 00:10:05 And how does this all connect to your investigation? I guess I don't think it was surprising. I mean, I think he's worried. as he should be, that states may come after him for violations of state law, and that is something that the president is unable to pardon him for. In Louisiana, we sued the federal government with Missouri over stifling speech and coercing big tech platforms to press only the government's viewpoint and narrative on vaccines and on COVID-related topics, among other things. And, you know, they kept saying they weren't trying to coerce the government.

Starting point is 00:10:43 anybody. They weren't threatening big tech, and everything they said was true. And in the course of that lawsuit, we deposed Dr. Fauci. So that has really been the focal point of my inquiry at this point, is to go back and look at his deposition and see what he said at the time now that we know that he kept a diary. So the diary is key here. Can you unpack that more for us? So when you are subjected to being deposed or you have to answer requests in a lawsuit, you answer those requests under oath, under penalty of perjury. And so we deposed him. And he, in almost every question we asked him at the time, as I recall, he had very poor recall.

Starting point is 00:11:27 He said he couldn't recall a million times, almost as many times as he took the fifth in the Senate hearing. And he said he couldn't recall details when we deposed him. Well, it turns out he was keeping a diary. I mean, he knew what he ate for breakfast every day in his diary, and he apparently recorded everything that happened every day. I don't believe that he disclosed that. Obviously, we would have deposed him on all of those details had we had access to that information at the time, and we didn't.

Starting point is 00:11:54 And so that is something that I'm going to have to be taking a close look at. Now, you mentioned Joe Biden's pardon, this unprecedented preemptive pardon. Your argument is that this does not prevent states from taking legal action. Can you explain that for us? That's right. I have to assume that is why Dr. Fauci is taking the fifth. now because he had broad, he was very broadly pardoned by President Biden. We, you know, I think a lot of us, many, many of us in this country have questions about

Starting point is 00:12:24 why he's taking the fifth and why he won't answer questions clearly and succinctly. You know, I think that it's surprising to everybody that he's now so unwilling to talk. His diary is going to do a lot of talking for him. Is this ultimately about holding one individual to a account, or is this about establishing that, you know, federal officials can't evade state law generally? Children got, were sick. I mean, my own son developed myocarditis from the Pfizer vaccine, and that was because they were not giving out clear, transparent information, and they were hiding information about the studies and the failure of those studies to actually evaluate the impact

Starting point is 00:13:05 or to give out information about what the impact was on young adult men. So, you know, I think Dr. Fauci needs to be held accountable for the statements that he withheld and the information he withheld from the American public for his own political purposes. But our capacity to hold him accountable for that is tricky. And I think we've got to really look at making sure this can never happen again in our government. Well, I hate to hear that you were so personally impacted by this. And then here at the Daily Wire, we faced potentially closing our doors if we had not when our lawsuit against the Biden administration over that mandate to require vaccines of our employees. And then you guys, we've appreciated personally your lawsuit on free speech that affected us directly.

Starting point is 00:13:52 Attorney General, thank you so much for coming on. Thank you for having me. An arson arrest has been made in relation to the wildfires spreading rampant across Washington affecting tens of thousands of people. Daily Wire reporter and host of That So Criminal, Lyndon Blake, joins us now with more. So Lyndon, what do we know about this individual who was just arrested? Yes, interesting that this fire in Washington is starting to kind of mimic what we saw in the palisades or one of the fires were started by an arsidus. That's what authorities are saying is happening.

Starting point is 00:14:22 They say the suspect in Washington is 37-year-old Aaron Farras Farrinacci, and he is just a suspect in one of the many fires that is burning across the state. And right now, Aaron is currently being held on a million-dollar bond. Witnesses are saying they saw a man looking at the trees, and then shortly after smoke started a piece. hearing. And authorities are saying that Farinacci was located less than a mile from that fire scene, and when he was arrested, he reportedly had waterproof matches on him and a butane lighter. An interesting thing about this arsonist suspect, though, is he was charged with first-degree murder

Starting point is 00:14:56 back in 2010 for killing his father down in Arizona. Now, those charges were later dismissed following a grand jury indictment, but in 2012, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault. So a disturbed individual, it sounds like, what do we know about the fires themselves? Yeah, so I mentioned there's a lot of fires. Upwards of 20 active fires burning across Washington State right now. The fires have burned more than 260,000 acres, and there's even wildfires in Oregon that have burned 2 million acres, shattering the state's previous wildfire record as a region faces its worst fire season in more than 30 years. And the images are just harrowing to look at. you're seeing just flames everywhere. Homes destroyed. Nearly 65,000 people have been evacuated

Starting point is 00:15:43 from their homes in the Spokane area. There's no injuries or deaths at this time, but officials say the scale of the fires means it'll take some time to fully assess the damage there. And the fires, like I mentioned, assumed so many acres, but more than 8,000 acres have zero percent containment since they started Saturday, and authorities are racing to make progress before the conditions worsen. I mentioned those images. There's plenty of video out there now showing the fire that is just towering over trees and neighborhoods. You can see the airplanes they're trying to get through and drop that retardant on the fast-moving flames to kind of stop it and contain it. Footage also showed homes that were left in ruins after the fire whist through. And you have to remember the terrain here

Starting point is 00:16:27 in Washington State, the Pacific Northwest, so many trees and the fire just been able to rip through. About 1,100 firefighters were assigned to just the Spokane area alone on Monday, while more than 29,000 wildfire personnel were deployed nationwide with resources heavily concentrated across Washington State, moving into Oregon, and then in Idaho. And you said some of these fires zero percent contained at this point. Yeah, so the fires are named individually, and again, there's upwards of 20 right now, but the fire that the arsonist started, that Old Trails fire, it has currently burned more than 3,000 acres, and it's 0% contained.

Starting point is 00:17:05 The Autumn Lane fire, zero percent contained. This fire, the little giant fire that's burned nearly 60,000 acres, it is still 0% contained. So while some of the fires are starting to get contained, I'm talking low numbers, 5%, maybe 17%.

Starting point is 00:17:21 A lot are still at zero, and that's what firefighters are trying to just make some headway as we move throughout the week. Very serious situation. Lyndon, thanks for reporting. Thanks, guys. Other stories we're tracking,

Starting point is 00:17:33 the results are in for a high-stakes primary in Michigan yesterday. Far-left candidate Abdul El-Sayed has won the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. El-S.id, who's endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America, ended up defeating the more establishment Democrat Haley Stevens. This sets up a November contest against Republican Mike Rogers. And authorities arrested a man outside of Trump's Southern California golf course, allegedly monitoring security planning ahead of the president's schedule visit on Tuesday. Officials announced Tuesday that 38-year-old Janine John Telley was arrested Sunday

Starting point is 00:18:09 outside of Trump National Golf Club in Ranchos Palis Verdes. In a search of his home, FBI agents found an illegally modified rifle, a 45-caliber pistol, ammunition, and body armor. Officials also uncovered a notebook containing what they described as concerning statements. The Secret Service is investigating if the suspect posed a threat to the president.
