Starting point is 00:00:02 I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley. It's Friday, April 7th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. Police in Colorado have arrested a transgender individual for allegedly planning a mass shooting at schools and churches in the Colorado Springs area. The individual was arrested on March 31st, just days after a person identifying as transgender killed six people at a private Christian school in Nashville. However, news of the arrest in Colorado wasn't. announced until yesterday. The 19-year-old individual was a former student at one of the schools targeted. Officials in that school district had the following reaction to the news.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Thanking the individuals who heard something, saw something, and said something, because today or next week could be incredibly different if that individual did not take the courage and have the fortitude to speak up. Department of Defense agents coordinating with the local FBI in Boston reportedly wrongfully detained a guest at Revere Hotel during a training exercise on Tuesday. Agents were given inaccurate information and quote, were mistakenly sent to the wrong room and detained an individual, not the intended role player. That's according to an FBI Boston spokesperson.
Starting point is 00:01:17 The Bureau says, thankfully, nobody was injured. A report released by the state of Maryland details the sexual abuse of children by the priests in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. It claimed that 600 children were abused, by more than 150 priests from 1964 to 2004. One deacon admitted to molesting as many as 100 children. Here's Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown. What we learned is that the incontrovertible history, uncovered by this investigation is one of pervasive, pernicious,
Starting point is 00:01:51 and persistent abuse by priests and other archdiocese personnel. It's also a history. of repeated cover-up of that abuse by the Catholic Church hierarchy. China is flexing their muscles following a meeting between Taiwan's president and U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Here with more is Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce. On Thursday, Taiwan's defense ministry said three Chinese warships sailed through the Taiwan Strait. The ministry also detected a Chinese anti-submarine helicopter in its air defense identification zone. The forceful display came after Beijing promised resolute and forceful measures to defend its national sovereignty and said the U.S. was taking a wrong and dangerous road.
Starting point is 00:02:37 In a dramatic session, the Tennessee House of Representatives voted to expel two of three lawmakers. The three Democrats helped to lead a takeover and protest of the state capital after the Covenant School shooting. The GOP-led House did not get enough votes to oust the third lawmaker, Gloria Johnson of Knoxville. I'm concerned about the House floor following the process and procedures that are laid out that you should follow and not having a protest, as it was described over here, on the House floor. If I'm expelled from here, I'll be back out there with the people every week demanding that you act. Each of you have an obligation to stop turning the people's house into your own club. The Biden administration proposed a change to the Title IX rules on Thursday that would not allow a state to categorically ban transgender athletes. Here's Heritage Senior Legal Scholar Sarah Partial Perry.
Starting point is 00:03:29 Specifically, no categorical bans are allowed for transgender athletes based on their participation according to gender identity. What it does do, however, is allow certain considerations like bodily injury, rules of competition or theories of fairness come into account, which ultimately makes every school administrator a de facto lawyer.
