The first and likely only presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris takes place tonight, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
I think this is make or break for Kamala Harris.
Who's poised for a big night on the big stage?
I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley.
It's Tuesday, September 10th, and this is Morning Wire.
Kamala Harris finally adds a policy page to her campaign website, a first since becoming the nominee 50 days ago.
I think it's worth pointing out that she hasn't actually changed her positions on anything,
according to her own speaking.
And residents in a small Ohio city say massive influx of Haitian migrants are overwhelming city resources
and creating dangerous situations for citizens.
This is about people being given the privilege of coming here from another country and having
no respect for our people living their life here the way they did in Haiti, angry, stealing,
polluting, living in filth, and acting like animals.
Thanks for waking up with Morning Wire.
Stay tuned. We have the news you need to know.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will square off on the debate stage in Philadelphia tonight, looking to take control of the race as the final campaign sprint kicks off.
Here with the latest on what to expect from each candidate is Daily Wire senior editor, Cabot Phillips.
So, Cabot, you're going to be at the debate tonight.
What's at stake for both candidates?
Well, at the outset, you could argue there is more at risk tonight for Harris.
At this point, everyone in the country has already seen Trump on a debate stage or sparring with
reporters in one of his many contentious interviews.
We've just not seen the same from Harris.
She's only held one sit-down interview the entire race.
And many Americans will see her speaking off script for the very first time.
Her debate performances in the 2020 race were universally panned.
And the risk for Harris is that the immature campaign is that the immature campaign is,
campaign and the media have cultivated. One of this quick-witted, formidable former prosecutor
does not match up with what we ultimately see tonight. She undoubtedly had the momentum since
becoming the nominee last month, so in many ways, she just has more to lose this evening.
On that note, Morning Wire spoke with Trisha McLaughlin, a GOP strategist and former senior
official in the Trump administration. Donald Trump is now seen as the change agent in the election.
The majority of Americans see him as that change candidate that she's so desperately purported
herself to be when in reality she's been the incumbent for 3.5 years. Now, as we mentioned yesterday,
the Harris campaign is opting for highly choreographed debate prep sessions. They've constructed
a replica stage with lights, podiums. They've even got a staffer dressed as former president
Trump. But Trump has been holding more informal policy refreshers as they're calling them.
While Harris wants to get under his skin with mention of his personal life and indictments,
Trump reportedly wants to draw a policy contrast between his four years and Harris' four years.
Here's McLaughlin to that point.
On almost every issue, Donald Trump wins with double digits from the economy, inflation, immigration, foreign policy.
But she's very much going to set landmines as far as these character assassinations, these personal attacks.
When he starts feeling like he's backed up against a wall, he really starts punching.
and that can lead for him to get in some unnecessary territory.
So we've talked about Harris.
What can we expect to see from Trump?
So from the folks I've talked to in Trump world,
early and often he is going to do all he can to tie Kamala Harris to Joe Biden,
which is not exactly a heavy lift given the fact that she is the sitting vice president
in his administration.
So when Harris says, I'll lower prices on day one,
or I'll secure the border immediately if I win,
expect to hear Trump say, why haven't you done it already? You are already in power.
I'm also hearing Trump will press Harris to say, in her own words, whether she supports many of
the far-left positions that she's endorsed throughout her career. Remember, the Harris campaign
has told reporters she no longer supports Medicare for all, decriminalizing illegal border crossings,
a ban on fracking, et cetera. But she's yet to actually say that for herself. The Trump campaign
says that she is still just as far left as ever, but is trying to appear more moderate. They want to
really put her on the spot tonight. So it is going to be a wild high stakes evening. If election
day is the Super Bowl, think of this as the conference finals. Well, you managed to get your football
analogy in. Love it. It is only fitting. Cabot, thanks for reporting. Anytime. And just a reminder,
Cabot is going to be hosting a live episode of Election Wire tonight from Philadelphia. So listeners
can tune in on YouTube or DailyWire.com. And that's going to be at 7.30 p.m. Eastern.

On Sunday, just two days out from the debate, Kamala Harris posted a 4,500 word policy platform on her campaign website.
DailyWire Deputy Managing Editor Tim is here with a closer look at that platform.
Hey Tim, so we've all been waiting for Harris to unveil some policy specifics.
She's finally released them.
What she landed on here.
Yeah, good morning, John.
Well, much like the rest of her campaign, Harris's platform has a lot of progressive policy proposals dressed up in
moderate sounding language. The platform's titled A New Way Forward, and it cites Harris' belief
that the country's success is tied to the strength of the middle class and pledges to create an
opportunity economy. But despite these promises to move forward and towards the center,
Harris is largely doubling down on the same progressive policies she's embraced in the past.
So what kind of policies are those? Some are pretty standard democratic policies, like expanding
access to abortion and cracking down on guns. Others are things the Biden-Harris administration has
implemented. Harris is pledging to extend Medicare's price caps on prescription drugs to all Americans.
She's also pledging to implement the first ever federal ban on corporate price gouging on food
and groceries. Remember that since launching her campaign, Harris has pledged to harness the
full force of the federal government to fight inflation while trying to ignore the fact that inflation
has skyrocketed on her watch. Harris also says that she'll make health care a right for all Americans,
but stopped short of endorsing Medicare for all, which she did during her 2020 presidential campaign.
This all sounds like attempts to draw the progressive vote.
Is Harris proposing anything intended for the middle class?
A lot of free stuff mostly.
We've got a $25,000 credit for first-time homebuyers and a $50,000 tax deduction for startup firms.
Harris has also pledged to, quote,
build three million more rental units and homes that are affordable to end the national housing supply crisis.
in her first term. It's not clear from the campaign website how Harris proposes to pay for any of this,
although she insists that she's going to cut middle-class taxes on top of everything else.
All right, so major subsidies while also somehow lowering taxes. What about the border crisis
that's really exploded with her and Biden's administration? Well, Harris is pledging to secure
the border and fix our broken immigration system, a clear attempt to rob Trump of perhaps his biggest
advantage. That is if voters will buy it coming from her. This is obviously Trump's defining issue,
and he's been hammering Harris for overseeing
record-breaking illegal immigration as Biden's borders are.
This is one of several policies Harris has lifted from Trump,
along with fighting inflation and eliminating taxes on tips.
It's unclear if Harris will be able to sway voters with this shift to the middle,
which may come off as an opportunistic flip-flop.
Meet the press host, Kristen Welker,
asked Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders about this on Sunday,
and the response went viral.
She has previously supported Medicare for all now.
She does not.
She's previously supported a ban
on fracking now she does not.
These, Senator, are ideas that you have campaigned on.
Do you think that she is abandoning her progressive ideals?
No, I don't think she's abandoning her ideals.
I think she's trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election.
Well, this platform she's finally released end up helping or hurting Harris.
It's hard to say.
On the one hand, it's going to be harder for Trump to attack Harris for being evasive on policy.
and there's a chance some of the 28% of voters who say they wanted to learn more about Harris
may like what they see. But on the other hand, now that she's released the platform,
Harris can't merely rest on rhetoric about coming together and helping all Americans.
And some of her more radical proposals could add to the 47% of voters who already think
Harris is too liberal.
The devil is really in the details here. Tim, thanks for reporting.
Thanks for having me.
Residents of Springfield, Ohio, are voicing their outrage after a sudden influx of Haitian
migrants have overwhelmed services, worsened the housing crisis, and sparked numerous social issues.
Here to discuss is Daily Wire reporter Amanda Presta Giacomo. Hey Amanda. So the border crisis is affecting
all parts of the country these days, even this relatively small city in Ohio. We briefly
touched on this Monday, but give us some background on what's going on there. So it's estimated that
some 20,000 Haitian migrants have moved into Springfield over the last few years. For some context,
Springfield only had a population of about 58,000 people.
And of course, that influx is going to have an effect on jobs, services, housing, and other issues.
So an influx of about a third of the population.
Why Springfield?
Why are so many Haitians moving specifically there?
Yeah, it's sort of twofold.
So first, the Biden administration in June gave 300,000 Haitian's temporary legal status until at least February of 2026.
This allows these migrants to remain and work in the U.S. until then, and possibly,
possibly beyond. That was awarded to any Haitian in the U.S. who was here before or on June 3rd.
The increase is also due to the administration launching a controversial border app, CBP1, and this allows migrants to apply for asylum right on their phones.
Additionally, Biden began allowing up to 30,000 migrants per month from Haiti and some other countries to fly directly into the U.S. for two years if they have financial sponsors.
Now, as for Springfield specifically, city manager Brian Heck said they attracted migrants because of their affordable housing and job openings.
Some residents have said they've seen buses full of Haitian immigrants being dropped off at gas stations and laundromats.
And now there are a host of problems sparked by this influx.
That's right.
We're hearing a lot from Springfield residents who are speaking out at city commission meetings.
Here's one woman speaking about her dire situation.
It is so unsafe.
If I have men that cannot speak English in my front yard screaming at me, throwing mattresses in my front yard, throwing trash in my front yard.
Look at me. I weigh 95 pounds. I couldn't defend myself if I had to. My husband is elderly. I don't understand what you expect of us as citizens.
Our city services are overwhelmed and understaffed. If we're protecting them, who's protecting me?
Another huge issue, as this resident mentioned, is the drain on services and resources.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars are being spent on translators.
Citizens are seeing three-fold increases in health care wait times.
Schools are overwhelmed with students.
And some working people can't get the assistance they need.
Here's one citizen talking about that.
I have a 20-year-old granddaughter who works two jobs pay city tax and federal and state and all the other stuff.
She's pregnant.
it took us four months to get Medicaid for that young lady and she couldn't have any of her tests done.
We have just brought too many daggone people to come in here and be able to apply for free stuff.
And here we are working, paying those taxes every week for what?
So she can't get any help?
This influx has also worsened the housing crisis.
So much so that American citizens in Springfield are actually being displaced from their homes.
A New York Times report outlined how Haitian migrants who are generally on government assistance, taxpayer money,
they're paying sometimes $3,000 a month in rent.
This has pushed out citizens who just can't afford to pay that much.
And finally, there's a huge clash in cultures playing out.
Here's what one resident had to say.
These are not civilized people.
Opening containers in our grocery stores, helping themselves to what's inside and throwing the rest onto the shelves and floors,
pulling off of the highway to publicly clean and gut the road can.
stealing animals from farmers and leaving their severed heads at the side of an old school where children play,
relieving themselves in public, making some barbaric stew out of the birds that live in our park.
This is insanity and it has to stop.
A number of residents also voiced their concerns about Haitians on the road.
These Haitians are running into trash cans.
They're running into buildings.
They flipping cars in the middle of the street.
This driving issue is major.
Springfield residents' anger really boiled over last August when a Haitian migrant crossed over the center dividing line and crashed into a full school bus.
He killed an 11-year-old boy and sent more than 20 children to the hospital.
That migrant did not have a valid driver's license, and he's now facing nine years behind bars for involuntary manslaughter.
A truly horrifying incident.
Things seem to be spiraling there in Springfield.
Let's help officials take action before it gets worse.
Amanda, thanks for reporting.
You're welcome.
Thanks for waking up with us.
We'll be back later this afternoon with more news you need to know.
