A suspect ramms a vehicle into one of the nation's largest synagogues.
Iran's new supreme leader issues a statement amid injury speculations, and Senate Democrats
once again vote against funding DHS.
I'm Daily Wire, Executive Editor John Bickley with Georgia Howl.
It's Thursday, March 12. This is Eden Wire.
One of the nation's largest synagogues, which also functions as a preschool, came under attack today.
Daily Wire reporters, Actual, has the latest.
An attacker rammed a vehicle into Temple Israel's synagogues.
in West Bloomfield, Michigan, outside of Detroit and opened fire.
A law enforcement source confirmed to the Daily Wire that the shooter was armed with a rifle
and was killed by armed security in a shootout.
The vehicle which the attacker drove through the doors of the building was loaded with explosives
and caught on fire according to multiple reports.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said one security guard was injured after he was hit by the attacker's vehicle,
but he's expected to recover.
No one else in the synagogue was injured.
The synagogue, which also houses a preschool, is the largest reform congregation in the U.S.
The preschool confirmed to parents that all of the students were safe and accounted for.
This is a developing story, so check dailywire.com for updates.
In another violent incident, a gunman opened fire this morning inside Constant Hall at Old Dominion University in Virginia.
Daily Wire reporter Breckis Stoll has the details.
One person is confirmed that two others have been hospitalized but are in stable condition
and the suspected gunman is also dead after the shooting this morning.
Police said all three victims were affiliated with the university,
and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll said two of them were Army personnel.
NBC reports the suspect is identified as Muhammad Baylor Jalo,
a former Virginia National Guardsman,
who pleaded guilty in 2016 to attempting to provide material support to ISIS,
received an 11-year sentence,
and was released from federal prison in December 2024.
University officials issued an alert saying the shooting,
had been neutralized and later sent in all-clear and suspended classes for the rest of the day.
Police said they have found no sign of any broader threat beyond the incident itself.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt is demanding that ABC News immediately retract its report
claiming that Iran is planning a drone attack on California, reporting that we also cited in our
morning episode. She tweeted today, quote, this post and story should be immediately retracted
by ABC News for providing false information to intentional.
alarm the American people. They wrote this based on one email that was sent to local law enforcement
in California about a single unverified tip. The email even states the tip was based on unverified
intelligence. To be clear, no such threat from Iran to our homeland exists and never did.
Iran's new Supreme Leader Mostobah Khomeini released his first public statement today since
taking power. Daily Wire Foreign Affairs reporter Cassia Akiva has more. In written remarks read aloud on
state media, Khomeini said the straight of Hormuz must remain closed as a way to pressure the
United States and its allies, while also warning that the U.S. military bases in the Middle East
should shut down immediately or face attack. Kamani also said in no uncertain terms, quote,
Iran will not refrain from avenging the blood of its martyrs. President Trump responded by saying
he was disappointed and told Fox News, quote, I don't believe he can live in peace.
oil prices briefly climbed above $100 a barrel earlier today after a series of new attacks on seven
freight ships in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz.
The most severe strikes hit two tankers in Iraqi waters, killing at least one crew member and
setting both ships on fire, while additional vessels near the UAE and in the strait also reported
damage from projectiles or fragments.
Brent Crude later pulled back to about 9650 a barrel, but the attacks have only intensified
concerns about safe passage through one of the world's most critical oil routes, where roughly
one-fifth of global oil moves.
President Trump says U.S. intelligence is monitoring, suspected Iranian terrorists, and he didn't mince
words about who was to blame for many of the threats.
Have you been briefed about how many Iran's sleeper cells there could be inside the U.S.
right now?
I have been, and a lot of people came in through Biden with this stupid open border.
but we know where most of them are.
We've got our eye on all of them, I think.
The man who killed Lake and Riley
requested a new trial and was denied.
Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Tear has more.
A judge smacked down the request this week,
meaning Jose Ibaro will continue serving
his sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Ibarra was convicted of multiple crimes,
including murder, kidnapping,
and aggravated assault related to Riley's death.
Lake and Riley was a nursing student in Georgia.
Her death in 2021 at the hands of Ibara of Venezuelan National
became a lightning rod in the national immigration discussion.
The Lake and Riley Act passed in her honor,
mandates that DHS detain illegal immigrants
who are accused of certain crimes, including violent crimes.

The Senate voted today on whether to end the DHS shutdown now in its 27th day.
Daily Wire political reporter Cameron Arcan has more.
Senate Democrats voted again today against funding the Department of Homeland Security.
This comes as part of the party's protest against ICE activity under the Trump administration,
particularly in Minneapolis.
However, Americans are feeling the squeeze particularly at the airport.
TSA, which is under DHS, is also defunded, leading to long lines for travelers and missed
paychecks for agents. The Denver International Airport has taken to social media, asking the public
to donate toward grocery store and gas gift cards for TSA employees working without pay.
The Virginia General Assembly has now passed legislation regulating how public schools may teach
about the events of January 6th, 2021. Daily Wire Senior Editor, Joel Needler, has the latest.
If the bill becomes law, it would mandate that Virginia public schools teaching the events of January 6th
may not portray the events as, quote, a peaceful protest.
It also bars teacher from presenting as credible any statement suggesting that there was widespread
election fraud that could have changed the results of the 2020 presidential election
and that the events must be described as, quote, an unprecedented violent attack on United States
Democratic institutions for the purpose of overturning the results of the 2020 presidential
election. This has alarmed many as the Supreme Court has repeatedly struck down attempts to compel
speech. The bill passed both the state Senate and the House, and Governor Abigail Spanberger is expected
to sign it into law. President Trump responded to Spain after it refused to allow the U.S.
to use joint military bases for operations in Iran. Speaking to reporters outside Marine One yesterday,
the president threatened economic consequences. We may cut off trade with Spain. I don't know what
Spain's doing. They've been very bad to NATO. They get protected. They don't want to pay their fair
share, and they've been that way for many years. The Spanish government under Prime Minister
Pedro Sanchez has distanced itself from the U.S.-Israeli coalition and has permanently withdrawn its
ambassador to Israel. Spanish foreign minister Jose Manuel Auberes has said that the country's
position has not changed one iota. Federal income tax now has a new foe, congressional Democrats.
A fraction of Democrats in Congress have proposed a new plan to drastically cut federal income taxes. The
plan spearheaded by Senators Corey Booker and Chris Van Hollen would eliminate income tax on individuals
making less than $46,000 per year and married couples making under $92,000. The plan would also more than
double the standard deduction for individuals and married couples. While the plan has received some
tentative bipartisan support, it's also attracted backlash from within the Democrat Party. Democrat strategists
and members of Congress have expressed their concern over lightening the tax base, instead preferring
to use government programs to address specific issues.
Republican Senator Josh Holly has introduced a bill to ban the use of Miffa Pristone for abortion
nationwide. The abortion pill now accounts for the majority of abortions in the U.S.
and has led to higher total numbers than before Roe was reversed. In a hearing organized by
Holly, a woman named Elizabeth Gillette spoke about her ongoing psychological trauma that
resulted from seeing her deceased baby. She said she was not warned about this by her medical
provider who prescribed the at-home abortion pill.
That was so different from the double period and the extra clotting that they told me that I would
experience. And in that moment, I had to decide if I was going to throw my child in the trash
or flush my child down the toilet. And I chose to flush him into a septic tank.
And instead of relief, I got horrible nightmares that started, where I would see people
dying and people being murdered. I would hear infants crying in the trash cans when I walked by them.
I would hear infants crying in the toilet.
I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, which I still suffer from this day.
And the Pentagon raised some eyebrows this week with the release of a record-breaking budget from last September.
The $93 billion budget was the largest single month spend in Pentagon history,
including millions of dollars on ribby steaks, lobster tails, and king crab legs.
Many of War Secretary Pete Higgseth's detractors in Congress and the media blasted Hegseth for supposedly ordering
the food for himself, but it was actually purchased for American troops, and Congress were the ones
who allocated the money. For decades, serve and turf meals have traditionally been served to
troops on long deployments and before dangerous missions. The particularly high dollar amount is a result
of previous months coming in under budget and the leftover funds being spent at the end of the
fiscal year. All right, those are your drive home updates to learn more about these stories. Go to
Dailywire.com, and in case you missed it earlier today, we covered some major stories, including Iran
desperately fighting to block the Strait of Hormuz, L.A. getting exposed as a breeding ground for
hospice fraud, and the Save America Act splitting Capitol Hill down party lines. Thanks for tuning in.
We'll be back tomorrow morning with another full edition of Morning Wire.
