President Trump issues a warning to treasonous leakers. Anthony Fauci is held in contempt and an unreleased Nicholas Cage film is stolen from Netflix HQ. I'm Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley with Georgia Howl. It's Thursday, August 6th. This is Evening Wire.
Starting point is 00:00:50 President Trump has a warning for leakers who told numerous media outlets that the U.S. was running out of munitions. Daily Wire, Foreign Affairs reporter Cassia Kiva, has the latest. President Trump says officials leaking information about U.S. military munitions are, quote, being hunted down, warning his administration will seek long prison sentences while insisting America's weapon stockpiles remain strong in defense production is ramping up. Meanwhile, Iran's lead negotiator and parliament speaker, Mohamed Bogger Ghalibov, mocked Trump's approach to talks as, quote, feeder diplomacy, accusing Trump of, quote, using bullying, broken promises, and fake news as leverage. Also, Iranian officials say they're nearing an agreement with Oman
Starting point is 00:01:30 on a commercial shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz. but insist that the waterway will not fully reopen until the U.S. ends its naval blockade on Iran. The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted today to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce says the details. In a party-line vote, the committee approved a contempt resolution against Fauci after he invoked the Fifth Amendment more than a hundred times in last week's Senate testimony. Instead of pushing the resolution forward to a full Senate vote where it would likely be filibustered, the committee will recommend it directly to the Justice Department.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Republicans took the step against Fauci because they argue the Fifth Amendment no longer covers Fauci's official actions during the pandemic after he was granted a wide-ranging pardon by former President Biden. George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley says the law here is complex. The law behind this controversy is rather murky. People may be surprised that the cases in this area are relatively sparse. And so what Fauci is saying is that I'm really not protected without the privilege because there may be questions in ongoing state investigations or new questions that would put me at risk. What the committee is saying is that you have this sweeping pardon going back to 2014.
Starting point is 00:02:50 And Chairman Paul specifically framed his final set of questions as only addressing matters with, in the confines of that pardon. So that's gonna put into sharp relief for the court whether he truly has a right to invoke the privilege. We reported yesterday on Democrats boycotting a Senate hearing on the Muslim Brotherhood. In that hearing, we learned of its ties to Hamas and its operations in the US through care,
Starting point is 00:03:17 or the Council on American Islamic Relations. Senator Ted Cruz, who chaired the meeting, explained the connection on Fox News. If you look at the Muslim Brotherhood, they actually wrote their strategy in America, in something that became known as the explanatory memorandum. They put it in writing in 2004. The explanatory memorandum explains that the Muslim Brotherhood
Starting point is 00:03:38 is engaged in what they called a, quote, civilizational jihadist process. And specifically, they said their objective was, quote, a grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers. During the hearing, experts testified that CARE is part of a larger Muslim Brotherhood network in the U.S. with overlapping leadership, shared ideology, and sustained reach into education, politics, and non-profit advocacy.
Starting point is 00:04:14 And that network was revealed nearly two decades ago in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation case, the largest terror financing case in American history. ranchers and sheriffs in South Texas are pushing back on the Trump administration's plan to build a portion of the border wall along the Rio Grande, arguing the terrain already does the job. The new barriers are part of a $2.6 billion customs and border protection contract announced this June, but residents of Valverde and Terrell counties are pointing out that the proposed barrier runs along cliffs that drop hundreds of feet into the river. A Valverde rancher told the daily wire the plan, quote, makes absolutely no sense. and the county sheriff called it an expense taxpayers shouldn't have to carry. The Terrell County Sheriff, a former Border Patrol agent, says drones and cameras would be far more effective to surveil the treacherous terrain.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Tucker Carlson is fueling talk of a breakaway political party meant to challenge Trump-era MAGA, but will it split the party? Daily Wire reporter Drew Berkmeyer has more. Over the weekend, Carlson hosted Trump critics, including Marjorie Taylor Green, Thomas Massey, and Joe Kent at his main cabin with Green, declaring on social media that Trump had, quote, betrayed his America First promises, and that, quote, the movement has begun. Carlson followed up by unveiling a 10-point policy platform on a show, though this mainly consisted of buzzwords like Honest and United. The eclectic group also urged him to run for president
Starting point is 00:05:39 in 2008, though Carlson denied any interest. Reactions seemingly split the right with figures like Megan McCain and Laura Lumer calling the group Turncoats, while Alex Jones and Mike Flynn cheered them on. The White House simply brushed the group off as irrelevant. A Yankees fan is suing for $10 million after a thrown bat struck her in the head. 37-year-old Stephanie DeLuke claimed she suffered a traumatic brain injury at Yankee Stadium when Cleveland Guardian star Jose Ramirez accidentally lost hold of his bat mid-swing. The bat flew over protective netting down the first baseline, striking her arms and head. DeLuke says this caused significant injuries that have prevented her from performing her professional duties
Starting point is 00:06:19 as a health care executive. Whatever the nature of her injuries to Luke will likely have a difficult legal path ahead, as courts have traditionally applied a century-old baseball rule, which does not hold teams liable for foul balls or errant bats. Fans are also cautioned
Starting point is 00:06:34 when purchasing tickets and prior to every game of the possibility of flying objects entering the stands. The Daily Wires made some big news in Hollywood today. It's just released the trailer for one of its biggest films yet
Starting point is 00:06:48 Run, Hide, Fight, Infidels, and it's already generating plenty of controversy. So here's the premise. Terrorists take over a college campus and attempt to enforce Sharia law on the students there in response a security guard, a group of armed students, and a Delta Force veteran step in to defend their community and their freedom. The film stars Jonathan Majors and it's produced by Dallas Sonia. The movie packs a punch. A lot of things explode. The bad guys lose. The good guys win and the film makes no apologies for any of it. on Hyde Fight, Infidel's streams exclusively on the Daily Wire starting September 16th.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Miss North Carolina, Brittany Bolton House was stripped of her title just weeks after winning the crown. This followed a review of resurfaced social media posts that organizers said violated the organization's standards. Miss USA CEO Tom Broder said the decision comes after reviewing a pattern of conduct over an extended period and that the organization does not tolerate racism, homophobia, or transphobia. The posts have not been made public, but Bolton House has allegedly apologized to the organization. Despite her apology, first runner-up, Mila Hadley, will now represent North Carolina at the Miss USA competition later this month. The Canadian woman who attacked a pro-Trump teenager has received deportation orders. Associate producer Wyatt Harms has the story.
Starting point is 00:08:13 33-year-old Caitlin Tracy was arrested last month following her assault of a young girl on the Jersey Shore for wearing mega clothing. Upon her arrest, it was a discovered that Tracy was a Canadian citizen and had illegally overstayed her visa. Tracy's husband, an American citizen, issued a public plea for legal assistance, but their online fundraiser was pulled down due to policies against raising money for individuals accused of violent crimes. A subsequent fundraiser received less than half of their $10,000 goal. Earlier this week, Tracy pleaded guilty to the charges against her and ultimately received deportation orders.
Starting point is 00:08:47 An encrypted Nicholas Cage movie has been stolen from the Netflix hard drive, and only Nicholas Cage will be able to get it back. This is actually a serious story as the World War II era film cost $45 million to produce and had been in production for seven years. The film's producer Simon Afram and his company Opt Fortitude are suing Netflix for at least $105 million for allowing the theft to occur. They claim that the value of their film, Fortitude, will suffer due to the likelihood of pirate cost. copies making their way to the internet. Netflix says it has investigated the theft and has offered to monitor piracy sites, but disputes that the security lapse is their fault since the film was delivered without industry standard security safeguards.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Netflix is also alleging this is a hostile attempt to extort money over the incident. And Jason Ardey, the University of Cambridge's youngest black professor when he was appointed in 2023, has resigned after the university opened an investigation into false claims in his professional resume. The inquiry follows a devastating plagiarism review, which found examples from his thesis paper were, quote, identical or near identical to an earlier paper written by another researcher. Investigations are now ongoing into other sensational claims that he's made about his personal biography, including that he ran 600 miles and six days for charity, that he beat a brain tumor, that he was unable to speak until age 11 and was illiterate until 18, that he ran 30 marathons and 35 days
Starting point is 00:10:16 with a broken leg and that he raised millions for charity. After the plagiarism scandal broke, Arde also made a string of uncorroborated claims about racial attacks, including that a masked man with a knife attacked him on campus twice, and that a pighead was delivered to his parents' house. There's no evidence for any of these claims. Ardei has begun to walk back some of his biographical claims, but maintains that the scrutiny is rooted in racism and abelism.
