It's Monday,
June 30th,
and this is evening wire.
In Idaho, two firefighters were killed and one injured in what appears to have been a premeditated shooting ambush.
Daily Wire's senior editor, Caput Phillips, says more.
The alleged gunman was found dead with a firearm nearby.
Authorities say he likely started a brushfire on the nearby Canfield Mountain to lure first responders into a deadly trap.
Sheriff Robert Norris called the shooting a, quote, total ambush and says the investigation is still going on.
We do believe that he started it, and it was totally intentional what he did.
we don't believe that he's the one that made the 911 call.
But, you know, that could change.
The FBI, DHS, and state officials are all monitoring the case closely.
In a harrowing radio call released,
a trapped firefighter at the scene warned dispatchers
that law enforcement was needed
and described the blaze as an intentional trap.
We need law enforcement up here.
We could possibly get two, the two wounded out.
I'm ten down behind Battalion One's rig.
It's clear to me.
at this fire was that intentionally to draw us in.
Trade talks between the U.S. and Canada are back on.
Daily Wire Deputy Managing editor, Tim Rice has the latest.
The move comes as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney agrees to end attacks that President
Trump says unfairly targets American tech giants like Google, Amazon, and Meta.
In a joint statement, the leaders said talks will resume immediately and that they're aiming
to have a new trade deal by July 21st.
Canada's finance ministry confirmed will cancel the collection of the
digital services tax and move to repeal the law entirely.
Trump has threatened new tariffs if no deal is reached, calling Canada a very difficult country
to trade with.
The Senate is rounding third base on President Trump's big, beautiful bill, but must first withstand
a marathon voterrama of amendment votes.
The sweeping legislation aims to make Trump's 2017 tax cuts permanent and overhaul Medicaid,
but it's also drawing sharp criticism, even from the Republican side of the aisle.
Democrats warned the bill will balloon the deficit, citing a $3.3 trillion cost estimate.
Here's Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Well, my amendment simply says, if people's health care costs go up, the billionaire tax cuts vanish.
Republicans, you can tell in the speeches already, are on the defensive.
Republicans say it boosts growth and cracks down on fraud.
Majority Leader John Thune combated Schumer's comments about tax cuts for billionaires.
By the way, billionaires next year will pay the same tax rate they're paying this year.
The people are going to get hit with a tax increase if we don't do something.
Are those families making less than $400,000 a year?
We're going to see their child tax credit cut in half, their standard deduction, cut in half.
Their rates go back up to what they were 2017.
Senators Rand Paul and Tom Tillis opposed the bill, voicing concerns over Medicaid cuts in rising debt.
A final vote is expected after hours of debate.
Department of Justice is pressing charges against more than 300 people, including doctors,
nurses, and pharmacists for defrauding the U.S. government out of billions of dollars.
The charges come at the conclusion of a collaboration between 50 federal districts and 12 states
that exposed various fraud schemes. The schemes already cost taxpayers nearly $3 billion
and would have ended up costing more than $14 billion. One standout case, Operation Gold Rush,
exposed international networks that used over one million stolen identities to submit more than
$10 billion worth of fraudulent Medicare claims.
A Ukrainian F-16 pilot died in a crash this weekend while fending off the largest Russian
aerial attack since the start of the war. President Vladimir Zelenskyy honored the pilot with
the nation's highest posthumous title, Hero of Ukraine, and asked for additional support from the
West. Specifically, Ukraine says it may be at risk of running out of supplies for its American-made
Patriot missile systems. When President Trump met with Zelensky at the NATO summit last week,
Trump did not rule out sending additional missiles to Ukraine. Iran's top cleric has issued a fatwa
ordering Muslims to kill President Trump and anyone else who threatens Iran's supreme leader.
A fatwa is often declared to crack down on dissidents within Iran, but some fear it could incite
violence internationally. The decree comes as Tehran acknowledged that last week's Israeli strike
on the country's notorious Evan Brisen killed dozens of people.
including a top prosecutor of political dissidents.
The United Nations nuclear body warns that Iran could start enriching fuel again in a matter of months.
In an interview with CBS on Sunday, the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grassey,
stated that the American strikes had not completely destroyed Iran's nuclear facilities.
Frankly speaking, one cannot claim that everything has disappeared and there is nothing there.
It is clear that there has been severe damage, but it's not total damage.
first of all. And secondly, Iran has the capacities there, industrial and technological capacities.
So if they so wish, they will be able to start doing this again.
The statement mirrors a preliminary assessment that leaked from the Pentagon last week.
But subsequent reports have backed up President Trump's claim that the strikes obliterated
the facilities and significantly delayed Iran's nuclear ambitions.
The DOJ hit the city of L.A. with a lawsuit over the city's sanctuary policies,
hindering immigration enforcement. The so-called sanctuary city forbids local law enforcement from
sharing information and resources with federal immigration authorities. These policies have not
halted enforcement altogether, though. On Friday, Customs and Border Protection Officers raided a
Los Angeles residence that has been used to harbor Iranian illegal aliens with ties to terrorism.
Two individuals were arrested in the raid. Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin had this to say
about the arrest. These are two individuals who not only have terrorist slings, but also are involved
in a human smuggling, human trafficking operation. We likely think surrounding terrorism, but further than
this, this has been a priority since day one of this administration to get these extremists,
to get these known and suspected terrorists out of this country. The State Department has revoked
the visas for a British rap duo who led a series of chance calling for the killing of Israeli
soldiers at a festival over the weekend.
Death, death, death to the IDF, death, death to the IDF.
Daily Wire reporter Amanda Press, Jacamo has more.
The performance was broadcast on the BBC, and the chance have drawn criticism from the festival
and review from British police.
A senior state department official told the Daily Wire that it was already looking at revocation
of the RAPDU's visas ahead of a planned multi-city tour through the U.S. this fall.
A senior state official told the Daily Wire, quotes,
Under the Trump administration, the U.S. government will not issue visas to any foreigner who supports terrorists.
A Trump administration investigation found that Harvard discriminated against Jewish students.
Daily Wire reporter, Marade Alorty has the details.
A task force found the university in violent violation of the Civil Rights Act.
Antisemitic images were circulated across campus and many Jewish students felt physically unsafe.
A letter to Harvard said the government will end all federal funding to the university if it does not
institute adequate changes immediately. The letter said Harvard did not dispute the government's
findings. A Harvard spokesperson told the Daily Wire, anti-Semitism is unacceptable and a serious problem.
The spokesperson said the university disagrees with the government's findings and is committed to
helping Jewish students. Self-described Democratic socialist and New York mayoral candidate,
Zoran Mondani, is refusing to condemn calls to globalize the intifada.
Mamdani dodged multiple chances to condemn the phrase in recent interviews.
Do you condemn that phrase, globalize the intifada?
That's not language that I use.
The language that I use and the language that I will continue to use to lead the city is that,
which speaks clearly to my intent, which is an intent grounded in a belief in universal human rights.
And ultimately, that's what is the foundation of so much of my politics,
the belief that freedom and justice and safety are things that to have meaning have to be applied to all people.
That includes Israelis and Palestinians' life.
But do you actually condemn it?
I think that's the question and the outstanding issue that a number of people,
both of the Jewish faith and beyond, have.
Do you condemn that phase, globalize the Intifado,
which a lot of people hear is a call to violence against Jews?
President Trump strongly criticized Mondani and told him to behave if he becomes mayor.
Here's Trump talking to Fox's Maria Bartaromo.
Let's say this.
If he does get in, I'm going to be president,
then he's going to have to do the right thing,
know, they're not getting any money.
He's got to do the right thing.
The jury began deliberating the fate of Sean Diddy Combs today.
The judge took more than an hour to explain the jury instructions.
The instructions included explanations of each charge of racketeering, sex trafficking,
and transportation for prostitution.
A trial attorney told CNN that the closing arguments were a tale of two different stories.
From the prosecution standpoint, they told a story of Diddy as someone who used
power, violence, and fear to get what he wanted. And from the defense standpoint, their position was
this case was about love. This case was about jealousy. This case was about infidelity. And this case was
about money. Ultimately, it's going to be up to the jury to determine whether or not which side
that they believe. A man jumped from a cruise ship to rescue his daughter on Sunday. A five-year-old girl fell overboard on a
Disney Dream Cruise and her father jumped in to rescue her. The heroic dad treaded water for 20 minutes
before a boat from the cruise ship rescued the two of them. The cruise line commended the crew for
their swift response. A passenger told CBS News the situation happened quickly.
The ship was moving quickly. So quickly, it's crazy how quickly the people became tiny dots in the
sea and then you lost sight of them. The captain slowed the ship, turned it around. And then they
to deploy a tendership with people on there to go get them.
And we saw them rescue the dad and daughter.
