Call for the assassination of Donald Trump, D.C. has a food truck mafia problem,
and the Democratic Socialists notch another major win.
I'm Georgia Howe. John's out on vacation this week.
It's Wednesday, July 1st, and this is Evening Wire.
Powerful Iranian clerics have called for the assassination of President Trump.
Daly Wire Foreign Affairs reporter Cassie Akiva has the details.
Iran's clerical leadership is openly threatening President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu. Members of the Assembly of Experts, the powerful body that selects and oversees
Iran's supreme leader, declared over the weekend in a statement that anyone who gains access to
either of the two leaders should, quote, send them to hell. The threat was issued alongside a warning
that negotiators must not cross Supreme Leader Machabha Khomeini's red lines, including any restrictions
on Iran's nuclear program. The clerics also demanded sanctions relief, the release of frozen assets,
and the withdrawal of American forces from the region,
even as U.S. and Iranian officials continue talks.
While President Trump is displeased about the Supreme Court's ruling on birthright citizenship,
he's already planning a workaround.
Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce has more.
In a sarcastic post on Tuesday,
President Trump congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping for a, quote,
massive birthright citizenship win in the Supreme Court.
The court on Tuesday ruled in favor of an expansive view of citizenship
that includes the children of illegal aliens and temporary immigrants,
as long as the child, is born on U.S. soil.
The court also ruled that its definition is protected under the 14th Amendment,
which would require another constitutional amendment to change.
But Trump said Tuesday that the problem can be fixed through legislation.
He also ordered officials at the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security
to crack down on so-called birth tourism.
President Trump celebrated what he called a big win on truth social yesterday
over the Supreme Court ruling on women's sports.
The ruling upheld laws in Idaho and West Virginia
that restrict sports based on biological sex,
with Justice Brett Kavanaugh writing that Title IX permits those restrictions.
The decision marks a major victory for one of Trump's signature campaign promises
after he signed an executive order earlier this year
aimed at keeping transgender athletes out of women's sports.
In related news, the YMCA removed references to gender identity
and diversity, equity, and inclusion from its national website.
The move came after the Daily Wire reported on an American Parents Coalition campaign.
Daily Wire reporter Meg Brock has the details.
The campaign urged families to examine local YMCA transgender policies before sending children to camp,
as many of them still allow boys who identify as girls to stay in female cabins and use shared female bathrooms.
Some camps also state they would keep a child's asserted gender identity secret from their parents.
The advocacy group says removing the language from the national website,
not change the underlying local policies and is calling on the YMCA to end them entirely.
President Trump announced the first ever Republican midterm convention on Tuesday.
It's set to take place in Dallas on the 9th and 10th of September.
The president hyped the event as truly historic and said it will be held to, quote,
celebrate the great American comeback.
The event will take place just weeks before midterms and those could determine the course of the rest of Trump's second term in office.
The convention will tout the president's record and his plan to build, quote,
the foundation for the next 250 years of American greatness.

Everybody knows someone right now who's talking about weight loss injections,
and to be fair, the results can be dramatic.
They work by helping regulate blood sugar and reducing appetite.
But a lot of people are also hesitant about weekly injections,
especially once they start hearing about some of the side effects that can come with them.
That's why more people, including some here at the Daily Wire,
have been looking into Lean from Brickhouse Nutrition.
Lean is a doctor-developed weight loss supplement,
and several people around the Daily Wire team who've tried it
have talked about how helpful it's been for controlling cravings and staying more consistent with
healthier eating habits. The ingredients in Lean are backed by research showing that can help lower blood sugar,
convert stored fat into energy, and reduce those constant hunger cravings that make dieting difficult.
And this is important. Lean is not really aimed at somebody trying to lose two or three pounds before a
vacation. The doctors at Brickhouse Nutrition specifically created it for people who've been struggling
to lose 10 pounds or more and are looking for a realistic option that fits into everyday life.
Let's get you started with 20% off and free rush shipping so you can add lean to your healthy diet
and exercise plan. Visit takeleen.com and enter Wire for your discount. That's promo code wire

Wire reporter Drew Berkmeyer has more. Local legislators in D.C. passed the street vendor
advancement amendment act in 2023 to criminalizing unlicensed street vending, including food
trucks, which means that illegal vendors no longer face criminal prosecution for operating
there without the proper permits and licenses. The problem has gotten so pervasive that the U.S.
Park Police told the Washingtonian that many of the illegal operations amount to organized crime.
New evidence shows that many of the unlicensed vendors have no record of paying taxes and
often violate safety regulations relating to propane tanks and refrigeration.
Police also noted that a vast majority of assaults and violent incidents around the mall
are related to unlicensed vendors engaging in territory disputes. In light of the outcomes,
the city council is now considering bills that would recriminalize unlicensed vending.
Democratic socialist Mayla Keros defeated longtime representative Diana de Kott in Colorado's Democratic
primary, continuing the far left's recent primary winning streak.
Endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders, Kuros supports abolishing ICE, free college, publicly owned housing,
and a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
She's heavily favored to win the Deep Blue District in November.
Tune in tomorrow for an in-depth look at that race.
On Wednesday, President Trump celebrated the inaugural flight of the new Air Force One,
calling the Qatari-gifted Boeing 747-8, quote, the greatest commercial plane ever built.
The aircraft, which replaces the 36-year-old Boeing 747-200 that served U.S. presidents for more than
three decades, has been extensively modified with secure communications and presidential security systems.
Trump praised the jet as beautiful and said it is something Americans should be proud of,
while pushing back on bipartisan criticism over the decision to accept an aircraft from Qatar.
It was very little relative to what it would cost if we did it a different way.
So this was a gift from a country that's created us very well.
They were an ally of us over in the Middle East guitar.
Frankly, we couldn't build a plane like this because we wouldn't be willing to spend the kind of money necessary.
And the emir, Damim, who's a great gentleman,
And he said, no, no, I'd like to make a contribution to the country.
So it was very nice.
The luxury aircraft reportedly valued at around $400 million
will serve alongside two Boeing-built VC-25Bs that are still undergoing modifications.
Cases of a rare tick-borne virus are seeing a record rise.
Daily Wireculture reporter Lauren Baer has the story.
Powison virus was first identified in Canada in 1958 and has remained.
extremely rare. The virus has spread through bites from woodchuck and deer ticks. Unlike the more
commonly transmitted Lyme disease, which is normally only transmitted if a tick remains attached
for at least 36 hours, Powison virus needs only 15 minutes. In 2015, there were only seven total
reported cases. Last year, there were 76, causing alarm among health officials. A majority of cases
were in the upper Midwest states of Wisconsin and Minnesota, with a handful of others in the northeast.
Powison virus can be fatal and there are currently no treatments.
And Princess Kate reportedly became the first royal in history to complete the UK's notoriously grueling National Three Peaks Challenge.
The challenge entails climbing the three highest peaks across Scotland, England and Wales all within 24 hours.
Kate, who is 44, took on the challenge to raise money and awareness for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity,
which is tied to the hospital where she herself was treated for cancer in 2024.
I'm so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills.
But more importantly, it's to give something back to support the Wilma's and cancer charity,
an organization very dear to me, who do extraordinary work, supporting those living with and beyond the disease.
She was met at the finish line by Prince William, their children, her parents, and her brother.
