and the first tanker of Russian diesel is heading this way. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley. It's Friday, October 23rd, and this is Evening Wire. Two former FBI officials have been charged for allegedly lying to Congress during a probe into Biden family corruption. The Justice Department has charged Nikki Flores and Bradley Benevides with one count each of making a false statement. Both were previously top intelligence specialists in the Bureau's D.C. office. The charges relate to statements the agents made to the House Judiciary Committee back in 2023. At the time lawmakers were probing the FBI's handling of Biden family corruption and Hunter Biden's infamous laptop. DC U.S. Attorney Janine Piro said in a statement that the alleged false statements were, quote,

about their roles on the foreign influence task force during the 2020 election. First Lady Melania Trump has brokered a localized ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine to allow humanitarian aid and civilian evacuations in the embattled Ukraine. The Ukrainian city of Oleshki. Contributor Tim Pierce has the latest. The White House announced Thursday that both sides agreed to halt military operations in the city, beginning October 29th, opening a window to deliver food, medicine, and clean water to residents and evacuate those who wish to leave. Melania Trump said she worked directly with Russian and Ukrainian leadership to negotiate the terms,

warning that the city's remaining residents, largely elderly with about 50 children, face dire conditions amid regular attacks, mined roads, and limited electricity. The First Lady said civilian teams from both countries will assess residence needs and coordinate evacuations to destinations of their choosing. She credited a communications channel established during previous efforts to reunite Ukrainian and Russian children with helping launch the negotiations. New reports say that Ilan Omar is not actually the embattled Congresswoman's real name. Fox Digital reports that her real name is Ilan Nur-Said Elmi.

That's according to two sources familiar with the ongoing investigation into her. asked what that would mean if proven in court that she's in fact lived under an alias this whole time, a former Minnesota federal immigration judge told the outlet that every form she's ever filled out could, quote, be called into question. Meanwhile, President Trump has weighed in on the scandal, mocking Omar for the alleged fake name and her answer during an interview with MS Now this week. Here's Trump. When asked whether or not she married her brother today, they asked her, did you marry your brother? she said, not to my knowledge.

That's one of the worst answers I think I've ever heard. You know, I've heard some bad political answers. I could go over a lot of them, but that would be about the worst. Not to my knowledge, I don't think so. Did you have children with your brother? I'm not sure. And here's the moment from that now infamous MS Now interview. You were not related to him at all.

An illegal immigrant from Mexico allegedly took a sledgehammer to the famous Iwojima monument outside of the Marine Corps base in Quantico late Wednesday, knocking the head clean off one of the Marines in the famous flag-raising scene. Daily Wire Lifestyle reporter Lauren Baer has the details. Prince William County cops caught the 29-year-old suspect mid-swing at about 10, 15 p.m., pounding away at the limestone memorial with a sledgehammer. One Marine statue was left headless. a second lost the bayonet from a rifle, and a third had his helmet and face gouged.

Police say the damage will run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Federal sources say the suspect entered the U.S. as a child back in December 1999 and received protection under Obama's DACA program in 2014. He had it renewed for a decade, most recently under Biden, in 2024. But that protection ran out in August when the Trump administration did not renew it. An official told the press, quote, this criminal illegal alien's dream is over. Maldonado Soriano disrespected our brave service members

and defaced a beautiful monument that honored their sacrifice. The Kremlin says the first tanker of Russian diesel is heading to the U.S. just two weeks after Trump's new deal with Putin. A Kremlin spokesman said, quote, the first oil tanker has sailed off to customers and regular supplies will continue. Russia's Interfax News Agency reported earlier this week that the first shipment would contain about 40,000 tons of diesel.

That's around 300,000 barrels. The tanker is reportedly heading to New York and is expected to arrive on November 7th. The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into former Homeland Security advisor Corey Lewandowski over claims he improperly profited from his position at the department. The investigation follows an Inspector General probe with his conduct during the tenure of former Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noam. That probe initially focused on the awarding of a roughly $220 million advertising contract featuring Noam. The inquiry expanded after reporting that Lewandowski allegedly sought compensation from a company seeking government business.

President Trump appeared to concede defeat this week in a key U.S. Senate race. Associate producer Garrett Van Team has a story. At a rally in Greenville, North Carolina, Tuesday, the president predicted that Republican Michael Wattley, who he handpicked for the open Senate seat, would lose to former Democrat Governor Roy Cooper. Trump said of Cooper while discussing his record on violent crime and public safety, quote, he's going to become your senator, and it's crazy. It was the clear a sign yet that the seat held by retiring Republican Tom Tillis could be slipping out of reach for the GOP. Polls show Cooper leading Wattley by about 10 points, and Wattley's campaign hasn't aired

a TV ad since October 7th. The Supreme Court blocked the use of student IDs for voter identification in New Hampshire. The High Court sided Thursday with New Hampshire officials allowing them to reject student IDs in these midterms. The issue comes down to timing. The court ruled that a lower court judge had intervened too close to an election by ruling that officials had to allow student IDs as a valid form of identification. Issuing such a ruling this close can cause voter confusion, the majority said. And LeBron James is getting heat from President Trump for his behavior during the national anthem. While the WNBA is coming under the spotlight for players disrespecting the star-spangled banner,

the NBA star managed to get himself into headlines too by practicing his golf swing as the anthem played ahead of his game against the calves this week.
