The Pentagon is stepping up its war on drug cartels, with a potentially pivotal role for Puerto Rico to play. Defense Secretary Pete Hagseth made an unannounced visits the island today as the U.S. ways launching counter-narcotics flights and even deploying fighter jets from Puerto Rico. The move follows last week's strike in the Caribbean that President Trump said killed 11 narco-terrorists aboard a smuggling vessel from Venezuela. The U.S. has already amassed at least
Starting point is 00:00:46 eight warships in the region. Officials say more strikes are possible with Vice President J.D. Vance, calling it the highest use of America's military. The Supreme Court has cleared the way for President Trump to continue immigration raids in California. Daily Wire Washington editor Tim Rice has more. In a six to three decision, justice has allowed federal agents to keep using their current profiling process, which allows them to consider race and ethnicity when detaining a suspect for possible deportation. The ruling overturns a block from a lower court judge who claimed the practice likely violated constitutional protections against unreasonable searches.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Justice Sonia Sotomayor dissented sharply, warning that the policy makes Latinos and low-wage jobs fair game. But Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote that ethnicity can be a relevant factor when combined with others. The court's decision strengthens Trump's push for record deportations, even as protests and lawsuits mount in Los Angeles. A man in Alabama is potentially facing the death penalty after he allegedly killed a beloved Auburn veterinary professor. Police say 59-year-old Dr. Julie Garde Schnelli was stabbed while outwalking her dog in a nearby park on Saturday. Her body was later found in a wooded area. Authorities arrested a 28-year-old suspect the next morning, charging him with two counts of
Starting point is 00:02:02 capital murder during a robbery and kidnapping, which carried the possibility of execution. Schnelly was remembered as a bright light by Auburn colleagues and students. She leaves behind her husband, children, and a grieving university community. After widespread outrage GoFundMe has pulled down fundraisers for the ex-convict seen on a video stabbing a Ukrainian refugee on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina. Daily Wire reporter Megan Basham reports. The GoFundMe legal defense pages for the suspect DeC Carlos Brown Jr., who had been arrested at least 14 times before taking out a knife and stabbing Irina Zerutska to death prompted severe backlash against the platform. One of the pages said it was raising money for Brown's legal fees in order to, quote, fight against the racism

Another page portrayed him as the true victim, saying he was, quote, failed categorically by the judicial system and the mental health services of North Carolina, and as such, is not entirely to blame for what happened. Meanwhile, the mayor of Charlotte Democrat Violiles has released a statement blaming the horrific attack on a lack of social safety nets and claiming that there was no way to, quote, arrest our way out of issues such as homelessness and mental health. The mayor went on to make clear that she is, quote, not villainizing those who struggle with their mental health or those who are unhoused. New York City mayoral frontrunner Zoran Mom Dani laid out a pitch for keeping the big

Starting point is 00:04:09 As we covered this morning, Mamdani is leading the race in almost every poll. Two Palestinian gunmen opened fire on a crowded city bus in Jerusalem this morning, killing six. The men reportedly boarded the bus and began shooting indiscriminately. At least 21 people were injured with several in critical or serious condition. A soldier and several civilians returned fire killing the two terrorists. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the scene shortly after the attack, where he praised the heroic response and declared, quote, we are in an intense war against terror on several fronts. President Trump has issued an ultimatum to Hamas, release the remaining hostages or suffer the consequences.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Trump issued the threat in a post on truth social over the weekend. The president said that his post would be the last warning to the terror group to release the hostages. He declared, quote, everyone wants the hostages home. Everyone wants the war to end. The Israelis have accepted my terms. It's time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting.
Starting point is 00:05:10 This is my last warning. There will not be another one. The pressure from the White House comes as Israel has ramped up military operations. operations in the enclave. A federal appeals court today upheld the $83 million defamation damages ruling against President Trump. Daily Wire senior editor, Joel Needler, has more. A federal jury in Manhattan held the president liable for defaming writer E. Gene Carroll, claiming he damaged her reputation. This came after a civil jury found Trump liable for sexually assaulting Carol in the 1990s and awarded her $5 million. A spokesman for Trump's legal team said,

The president will reportedly ask the Supreme Court to consider his case. Tensions inside the Trump administration boiled over last week. As Treasury Secretary Scott Besant reportedly threatened to punch federal housing finance chief Bill Pulte during a heated exchange, sources say Bessent exploded after learning Pulte had criticized him to President Trump. The feud highlights divisions over housing finance and the Federal Reserve, with Bessent urging caution on firing Jerome Powell, while Pulte is pushing for a Fed shakeup. It's not the first dust up for Bessent. He reportedly

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said that those involved in the Biden-Otipin scandal must face accountability after the release of a startling report. According to Axios, new records revealed that people within the Biden administration were concerned with the autopen being used to sign thousands of pardons just days before the former president left office. One of those granted clemency in the final days of Biden's first term was a murderer. Comer said the new information shed light on a, quote, historic scandal with massive repercussions. He added that the House Oversight Committee is finishing up its investigation into Biden's

Cracker barrel employees are revealing more unsettling information about the chain. According to the New York Post, the restaurant initiated a variety of cost-saving measures earlier this year, like serving reheated, day-old biscuits and meatloaf. The revelations about the downgraded food quality come just weeks after the brand weathered an embarrassing rebranding blunder.
Starting point is 00:07:34 Fortunately, the negative publicity prompted the restaurant giant to scrap the cost-saving measures and bring back fresh-cooked menu items as a way to lure back customers. A 10-year-old Phillies fan found himself at the center of a viral feud over a home-run ball that landed in the stands on Friday. Video footage shows the boy's father Drew felt well scrambled to retrieve the ball after it landed in an empty seat. After gifting the ball to his son Lincoln, the pair was verbally accosted by a middle-aged female Phillies fan demanding that they give her the ball. The female fan who has not been publicly identified claimed that she was the rightful owner of the ball because she was sitting closest to the empty seat where it landed.
