President Trump warns Iran again about possible.
strikes, Kentucky's governor calls for transparency around Mitch McConnell's health scare, and Ford recalls
over 100,000 vehicles. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley. It's Wednesday,
July 8th, and this is Evening Wire. President Trump gave Iran a warning today before new strikes
begin. Daily Wire Foreign Affairs reporter Cassia Kiva has listed. President Trump departed the NATO
summit in Turkey on Wednesday after declaring that the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran
is effectively over in warning that additional U.S. strikes could be coming.
The comments followed a major American operation targeting more than 80 Iranian military sites
after Tehran attacked commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran responded with missile attacks targeting U.S. installations in Bahrain and Kuwait.
Here's how Trump explained why he believes negotiations with Iran have broken down.
I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum. They're sick people. They're led by sick people.
and if they had a nuclear weapon, they'd use it, just a waste of time dealing with them.
They're liars.
If I make a deal with him, we have a deal.
They go outside, talk to the press.
They say, we never even talked about it.
There's something wrong with them.
They're cuckoo.
As far as I'm concerned, it's over.
President Trump threatened to cut off trade with Spain on Wednesday.
He complained about Madrid's refusal to agree to new NATO targets for defense spending.
Here's the president at a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey.
Spain is a wasted cause. We don't want to do any trade business with Spain anymore, by the way. I'd like you to cut it up.
Spain is a terrible partner in NATO. They don't participate. They don't pay. I don't want anything to do with Spain. Cut off all trade with Spain, please.
Madrid further frustrated Trump when it refused to allow the U.S. military to use Spanish bases for attacks on Iran.
After Trump's comments, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanch has told reporters that Spain has met its NATO commitment.
and that the U.S. Spain relationship is, quote, very positive.
Kentucky Governor Andy Bashir is calling for more transparency about the health of Mitch McConnell.
The senator has been hospitalized since June 14th without any public explanation of his condition
or a timeline for his return.
The governor said in a statement that continued silence has fueled wild speculation and was,
quote, not fair to the senator or Kentuckians.
Rumors continue circulating online, leaping between irreversible comas,
incapacitation and even a cover-up death.
All that despite several Republican lawmakers
saying they've spoken with him by phone.
Congressional Republicans call for a federal civil rights investigation
into the treatment of Caitlin Clark.
Daily Wire, D.C. Bureau Chief Tim Rice has the story.
Republican Study Committee Chairman August Fluger
and a dozen of his colleagues urged WNBA Commissioner Kathy Englebert
to address the repeated mistreatment of Clark by other players in the league.
The letter notes that Clark has made the WNBA more popular.
than ever, all while being subjected to potentially racially motivated attacks on the court.
The signatories suggest that should the WNBA fail to address this problem, the situation could
warrant investigation by the Departments of Justice and Labor, as well as the Federal Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission. Your fans deserve better, the letter reads, and so do the young girls
who look to the WNBA as a model for excellence, sportsmanship, and opportunity.
attorneys for Carmelo Anthony filed an appeal yesterday asking a Texas court to overturn his murder conviction
and grant a new trial in the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf.
Daily Wire Associate producer Garrett Van Team has more.
Carmelo Anthony was sentenced last month to 35 years in prison for murdering Metcalf at a high school track meet.
Anthony's new legal team argues that the court violated his rights by limiting public access to the trial
and only giving him less than an hour to decide whether to testify.
In a separate filing, attorneys for Anthony pointed to post-trial interviews from Judge
John Roach as evidence of potential bias and pushed for his removal from post-trial proceedings.
Prosecutors have dismissed both appeals, saying the jury heard extensive evidence and came back
with a unanimous verdict.

Graham Platner will step aside as Maine's Democratic nominee for Senate on one condition.
He gets to choose his replacement.
That's according to the New York Post, although Plattner's campaign is denied the report.
But while Plattner has so far refused to step aside, some Maine politicians are already
maneuvering to take his place.
Former Maine State Senate President Troy Jackson has filed paperwork to run, but his campaign
is already threatened by scandal.
Jackson was accused this week of assault by a left-wing activist group called Progressive
victory. The group posted on social media, quote, Troy Jackson, in a heated disagreement, struck
a female colleague with a bottle he threw at her. The group added that it was not an isolated
incident. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered an investigation into a South Texas hospital group
over reports that it was advertising birth tourism packages for foreign nationals. In a letter to the
Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Abbott highlights reports that the hospital took out
billboards in Mexico, advertising, quote, birth packages in South Texas. The reports allege that the
hospital intended to profit from foreign nationals seeking U.S. citizenship for their children.
Abbott blasted birth tourism in his letter as an illegal practice that exploits the extraordinary
hospitality that the U.S. and Texas offered to millions of foreign travelers each year.
The federal government is attempting to rein in student loans for junk degrees. Daily Wire
Reporter's Actual has the details.
As of July 1st, students will no longer be able to obtain loans for degree programs that fail to put students on the path to financial success.
The change is part of the big, beautiful bill, and the exclusion applies to degree programs whose graduates repeatedly earn less than the average wage of peers with just a high school diploma.
If a program's graduates earn less than high school graduates for two out of any three consecutive years, the program will become ineligible for loans.
The change is expected to affect about 2% of all degree programs or 40,000 students each year.
The Trump administration is deporting a Kuwaiti man after revoking his green card over social media posts.
And then he praised Hamas, called America, quote, the enemy and wished death on President Trump.
As first reported by the Daily Wire, Marco Rubio terminated Tariq Akio Dari's legal status,
leaving him in federal custody pending removal.
State Department officials told us that foreign nationals who support terrorist organizations
or advocate violence against the U.S. should not expect to remain in the country.
A California teacher is facing an investigation after publicly insinuating that she married
a Gaza man to help him obtain U.S. citizenship. Daily Wire reporter Drew Berkmeyer has the details.
Laura Pinho, a Los Angeles dance teacher, an activist with the leftist group Code Pink,
made the following statement while on a Zoom call in reference to her marriage to Abu
Amra on April 5th.
You know, I have power as an American citizen.
I have a passport that I was just born with.
And how can I live in this world if I don't make every effort to equalize the playing field
on whatever way that I can?
The marriage took place via Zoom, facilitated by laws in Utah that allow for remote marriage.
The man involved, Abu Amra, remains in Gaza at this time, and it is unclear if the
newlyweds have ever met in person.
Laura Pino continues to live in a home with her ex and their two.
children, though the pair claimed to sleep in separate rooms. For his part, Pino's ex says that he was not
aware of her new marriage, but that he was concerned about a recent anti-Israel radicalization.
And Ford is recalling more than 110,000 Mustangs after federal regulators discovered two
separate defects they say could raise the risk of a crash. Nearly 68,000 Mustangs have windshield
wipers that in cold weather can lock onto their fastest setting while simultaneously disabling the
washing, creating serious visibility problems for the driver.
Another 43,000 Mock-E Electric Mustangs, which aren't real Mustangs guys, also carry a defective
rear component that can kill the car's battery or potentially let a parked car roll, even if the
parking brake is set. Ford said that dealerships will repair all these models free of charge.
This latest recall comes just a week after Ford pulled back more than 741,000 SUVs over
transmission issues.
