Starting point is 00:00:02 President Trump ruffles feathers at NATO, and a Manhattan high-rise is evacuated after a partial collapse. I'm Daily Wire, Executive Editor John Bickley, with Georgia Howe. It's Tuesday, July 7th. This is evening one. President Trump met with the president of Turkey ahead of the annual NATO summit, where he considered selling them fighter jets despite congressional opposition. Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce has the latest. Turkish President Erdogan has reportedly long had his sights on American F-35s, but has faced consistent opposition from Congress. Despite Turkey's NATO membership,
Starting point is 00:00:36 many view the nation as an unstable ally with an independent foreign policy and have been wary of certain arms deals. However, President Trump took a new position while speaking at the NATO conference this morning in the Turkish capital. Trump heaped praise on Erdogan as a leader and ally. Commenting on the F-35 sale, Trump stated it was certainly something we will consider. While the statement was far short of any kind of commitment, it could signal a significant change in the U.S. Turkish relationship. Meanwhile, Ukraine's President Zelensky argued again for NATO membership, citing Ukraine's battlefield experience and advanced drone capabilities.
Starting point is 00:01:10 He urged allies to provide more air defense systems and called for Europe to develop its own anti-ballistic missile capability. This comes as Russia continues missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. It also follows President Trump's own criticism of European nations for their lack of defense spending and weak responses to global conflicts. Never before seen footage was played in court today in the Tyler Robinson case. Daily Wire Reporter's Act Jewel has more. Prosecutors played security footage that appeared to show Robinson walking with what authorities described as a, quote,
Starting point is 00:01:42 limp just minutes before the shooting. Reports have previously indicated that Robinson appeared to walk with a stiff right leg or with an unusual gait, which some have suggested could indicate he was concealing a rifle under his clothing. The prosecution reportedly played surveillance footage to establish that Robinson was, on campus four separate times on September 10, 2025, the day Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was killed. Robinson is facing the death penalty for the fatal shooting. Opposition leader, Marine Lepin, will now be able to run to be the next president of France. A Paris Appeals court cleared the way for her candidacy today when it ruled on her appeal of a past embezzlement
Starting point is 00:02:22 conviction. Lepin was convicted of using funds meant for EU members to conduct business for her political party, the right-wing national rally. She was then banned from running for political office for five years. While she maintains her innocence, the appeals court upheld the conviction, but it also reduced her campaign ban enough to allow her to run for president in 27. Le Pen says she plans to appeal again this time to France's highest appeals court. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians could be deported from the U.S. after the Trump administration secured authority to end temporary protections. Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Tehr has the story. The Supreme Court ruled last month that courts cannot review the federal government's decisions

Starting point is 00:04:25 Nigel Farage resigned from his seat in Britain's parliament today and immediately announced he'll run again in a special election, framing the contest as, quote, the people versus the establishment. The resignation comes as the reform UK leader faces mounting scrutiny over his finances. He's also under investigation over allegations that he failed to disclose millions of pounds in gifts and other benefits before entering parliament. Farage denies any wrongdoing and says voters in his Clacton district should judge his actions. The move does not end the parliamentary investigations, which could resume if he's reelected. President Trump is praising Walmart after their big price cuts. Trump posted on Truth Social saying, quote, great news. I have just been informed that one of the biggest, best and smartest
Starting point is 00:05:10 retailers in America, Walmart, will be lowering prices by a lot at my administration's request to celebrate our great country's 250th birthday. Walmart announced after Trump's statement that the price per pound of beef would be cut by around 12 percent. The cost of cherries would reduce by about half, and corn on the cob would be about 25 cents a piece instead of 68 cents. Walmart announced the prices on ice cream, potato chips, disposable plates, and soda would also be coming down. A high-rise in Midtown Manhattan was evacuated this morning
Starting point is 00:05:41 after support beams began buckling, causing multiple floors to partially collapse. Daily Wire Lifestyle reporter Lauren Bear has more. Surrounding streets and buildings have been evacuated at the direction of New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani, with workers being sent to shore up the precarious structure. NYPD and FDNY officials created a, quote, frozen zone from East 40th to 45th streets, barring all walking and vehicular traffic,
Starting point is 00:06:08 setting fear of falling debris. Construction workers at the 38-story building noticed two support beams giving way on the 21st and 22nd floors, but were able to make it out safely and report the emergency to authorities. The building was undergoing an office-to-residential conversion, adding 11 floors on top of the existing 22 to create 1,600 new apartments. The project had previously been cited for 22 construction violations since renovations began in 2024.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Belgium taunted the U.S. team and President Trump with a two-word message following the World Cup elimination. Overturned this. That was in reference to their win last night when Belgium knocked the U.S. out of the World Cup with the 4-1 victory. Their parting shot referenced the controversy surrounding Follarin Balagan. After FIFA reversed Balagin's one-match ban in a decision that President Trump advocated for, Belgium's Soccer Federation questioned the ruling and said it had not received an explanation from FIFA. Following the win, Belgium's official team account posted a photo of Romilu Lukaku with a caption, overturn this, adding insult to injury as the U.S. team exits the tournament.
