President Trump signs an order to pay TSA.
Two China-linked individuals are accused of planting an explosive at a U.S. military base,
and the post office hikes its prices on packages.
I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire, Executive Editor John Bickley.
It's Friday, March 27th, and this is Evening Wire.
President Trump has officially stepped in to get TSA agents paid,
signing an executive order to address what he called an unprecedented emergency.
In a new memorandum Thursday, the president noted that more than 60,000 TSA employees have been working without pay,
while incredibly long lines continue to delay airports nationwide.
The move comes as lawmakers remain in a legislative tug of war over DHS funding.
For now, the administration says the goal is clear, get agents paid and keep the nation's air travel system moving.
Meanwhile, overnight, the Senate struck an early morning deal on legislation with the same goal.
but it's already hitting some major speed bumps.
Daily Wire political reporter Cameron Arcan has the latest.
The bill funds most DHS operations except for ICE and parts of Border Patrol,
which is setting up the next fight in Washington.
Trump told Fox News today that the Senate deal, quote, wasn't good,
it wasn't appropriate, and called on the Senate and the filibuster,
and House Speaker Mike Johnson wants a temporary funding solution to May 22nd instead.
In addition to these possible changes, Tennessee Republican Representative Andy O'G
goals suggested that the House attach a voter ID provision to the bill, a response to the
sentence and ability to pass Trump's favored Save America Act. The problem for the House is
that the Senate left for a two-week Easter recess right after the vote, which means that any
changes made in the House could drag out the shutdown even longer. The FBI says it's responding
to a cyber threat targeting Director Cash Patel's personal information. Officials confirmed
that malicious actors attempted to access Patel's personal email, but say the data in
is historical and does not include government information.
An Iran-linked group known as the Handala hack team has claimed responsibility.
The U.S. State Department is now offering a $10 million reward for information leading to those
behind the group.
The FBI says it's taken steps to mitigate risks and is continuing to track those responsible.
An 83-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran who was shoved onto subway tracks in Manhattan earlier this month
has died from his injuries, and the illegal immigrant suspect has now been charged with second-degree
murder. Daily Wire reporter's actual reports.
Richard Williams, a grandfather was attacked on March 8th at an Upper East Side Station.
After Williams died of his injuries, prosecutors upgraded the charges against the suspect,
34-year-old Byron Hernandez, from assault to second-degree murder.
Police say Hernandez pushed Williams and a 30-year-old man onto the tracks.
Bystanders managed to pull both victims back onto the platform before a train.
arrived. While the second victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Williams
hit his head on the tracks, an injury that proved fatal. The medical examiner has since ruled
Williams' death a homicide. Hernandez fled the scene but was later taken into custody at a homeless
shelter. No motive has yet been given. DHS says Hernandez is a, quote, serial criminal
with a lengthy rap sheet of at least 15 prior charges, including aggravated assault,
weapons, possession, and domestic violence. He'd been deported four times after first entering
the country illegally in 2008. A Democratic House seat could be on the line. Lawmakers on the House
Ethics Committee found Florida Democrat Sheila Churfellis McCormick guilty today of 25 ethics charges.
The vote follows a combative, televised hearing Thursday on allegations that she illegally funneled millions
of dollars into her campaign. The Justice Department charged her in November with stealing five million
in FEMA funds that were mistakenly sent to her family's health care company. She is denied
all wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty. She now faces potential expulsion from Congress.
An explosive device was found at a U.S. military base and the suspects are linked to China.
Daily Wire's senior editor, Virginia Cruda, has the story. A brother and sister are facing federal
charges for allegations surrounding an explosive device found at the McDill Air Force Base in Florida.
The indictments come after a suspicious package was placed at the base's visitor center on March 16th.
Anne Mary Zhang, 27, is in custody.
Her 20-year-old brother, Alan, is in China.
Alan Jang allegedly failed to detonate the IED on March 10th.
A Florida U.S. Attorney's Office says the device was found days later and safely disassembled.
The office also alleges that Ann Zhang knew about her brother's plans to cause damage to the military base
and helped with efforts for him to avoid apprehension, trial, and punishment.
Prosecutors also alleged that she tried to damage a 2010 Mercedes-Benz to leave.
limited as evidence against her brother.

The Post Office is implementing its first ever fuel surcharge on packages. At least until January
of next year, packages sent through the Post Office will cost 8% more than usual. Fuel surcharges
are a common practice among other carriers like UPS and FedEx during periods of
high fuel costs, but this is the first time the Post Office has resorted to it.
Rising fuel costs have compounded the Post Office's pre-existing financial struggles.
Morning Wire reported last week that Amazon, the Post Office's biggest customer,
will soon be taking their business elsewhere.
Postmaster General David Steiner recently stated that the Post Office could be out of money
within a year.
Dethrone Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro's attempt to dismiss federal charges has been met
with a brutal reality check.
Daily Wire's senior editor, Joel Needler, explains.
Maduro appeared in court in Manhattan yesterday for the first time since his arraignment in January.
During the hearing, Maduro's defense argued that the case brought against him by the U.S. government should be tossed,
since the Trump administration is not allowing the Venezuelan government to cover his and his wife's legal fees.
Maduro is being represented by Barry J. Pollock, one of the nation's leading trial lawyers who represented Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
Because of U.S. sanctions on Venezuela, Maduro's attorneys would need special.
permission to receive money for Maduro's legal fees, but so far the Trump administration is
refusing. Maturro's legal team claims the administration is violating Maduro's rights to counsel,
but U.S. District Attorney Alvin Hellerstein declined to dismiss the case and said the defense team's
argument was, quote, based on hypotheticals. A secret service agent assigned to protect former
first lady Jill Biden was injured by accidentally shooting himself in the leg at Philadelphia
International Airport. Emergency responders were on scene and the agent's condition
has not yet been publicly confirmed.
The incident occurred as Jill Biden was being escorted through the airport.
The Secret Service says it's gathering more information
and will release details as the investigation continues.
When he had less than a month left in office,
President Biden hosted a so-called speed dating event for trans activists.
Daily Wire investigative reporter Meg Brock has more.
The event called Our Family Values,
building the evidence base for child well-being,
brought together transgender activists, government officials,
and major progressive philanthropists.
The goal?
To match leaders of so-called family acceptance child welfare programs
with major funders of the LGBTQ movement.
Records show that the event aimed to expand child welfare programs
that re-educate non-affirming parents
to accept their child's LGBTQI-plus identity.
Follow-up emails indicate the meeting was successful
and that donors were interested in funding the family acceptance programs.
Parents across the country have had their children taken away
by child welfare services for affirming their child's
sex. By contrast, President Trump called for federal action to protect the rights of parents to
affirm the true sex of a gender-confused child, including in this year's State of the Union.
But surely we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents' arms
and transition them to a new gender against the parents will. We must ban it, and we must ban it
immediately. The Treasury Department said Thursday that new $100 bills printed starting in June
will carry President Donald Trump's signature.
Daily Wire Lifestyle reporter Lauren Baer has the latest.
This edition will mark the first time a sitting president's name will appear on U.S. paper currency.
The redesign, tied to the 250th anniversary of American Independence, will also remove the U.S.
Treasurer's signature for the first time since federal paper money debuted in 1861.
Treasury officials said the overall look of the bill will stay the same, aside from the
signature change, and the new notes could take several.
weeks to reach banks, while older bills bearing the signatures of Janet Yellen and former treasurer
Lynn Malerba remain in production. The current treasurer, Brandon Beach, issued a statement of support for
this move, calling Trump the architect of a quote, golden age economic revival.
Amid the rising trend of assaults on ice officers, New Jersey Governor Mikey Sherrill has banned
federal agents from covering their faces. The governor signed a new law on Wednesday that
restricts law enforcement's ability to use face coverings and requires officers to identify
themselves before making arrests. Cheryl defended the move as an effort to improve trust in law
enforcement and protect New Jersey residents. I can't believe we have to say this, but in the
United States of America, we're not going to tolerate masked roving militias pretending to be well-trained
law enforcement agents. DHS has rebuffed previous state rules to unmask ICE agents, calling
similar law in Washington state, irresponsible, reckless, and dangerous.
Researchers in Germany have successfully reanimated previously frozen mouse brain tissue.
Preserving mammalian tissue has long alluded scientists because ice crystals tend to destroy
microstructures. The scientists involved successfully froze a slice of hippocampus,
the section of the brain associated with memory, then thawed it and found it retained functional
neural connections. They caution were still a ways off from freezing whole organs for
storage, but that remains a long-term goal.
And the term blowfish is getting a new meaning as cocaine-fueled sharks become a rising
problem in the Caribbean.
Scientists say they've discovered traces of cocaine, caffeine, and painkillers in sharks
swimming off the Bahamas, highlighting a growing pollution problem in the world's oceans.
Experts say the contamination likely comes from wastewater runoff, partying tourists, and even
drug trafficking debris ending up in the ocean.
It's still unclear how the drugs are affecting the behavior of these sharks.
