Hey, this is Daily Wire, editor-in-chief John Bickley with Georgia Howl. It's Thursday, May 18th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. Three current and former members of the FBI testified in the House on Thursday and accused the Bureau of wrongfully retaliating against them.

Garrett O'Boy, Steve Friend, and Marcus Allen told lawmakers that the FBI suspended their security clearances and froze their pay over questions about the Bureau's January 6th investigation. O'Boyle and Allen are still employed by the Bureau, but they've been without pay and barred from working for about a year. They say they've been forced to rely on charity and their retirement savings to stay afloat. Here's O'Boyle. All I wanted to do was serve my country by stopping bad guys and protecting the innocent. To my chagrin, bad guys have begun running parts of the government, making it difficult to continue to serve this nation and protect the innocent. But I, for one, will never stop trying. Starting point is 00:01:29 In news reported first by the Daily Wire today, former Biden nuclear energy official Sam Brinton was arrested Wednesday as a fugitive of justice. This comes months after Britain was fired amid allegations of stealing luggage and women's clothing from airports. Daily Wire investigative reporter Luke Roziak, who broke the story, was at Brinton's court appearance today. He spoke to us moments after the proceeding. Brinton was arrested last night at his home in Rockville, Maryland.
Starting point is 00:01:57 A neighbor told me that four on Mark Police cars, went to his house about 10 p.m. and pulled him out. I just got out of Montgomery County Maryland courtroom where a judge ordered him extradited to Arlington, Virginia to face charges of grand larceny related to alleged luggage theft out of Dulles Airport in connection with those fugitive from justice charges. Nemah Momeni, a 38-year-old man accused of stabbing cash app founder Bob Lee to death back in April pleaded not guilty Thursday. Momeni's mother and sister were present in the San Francisco courtroom when the plea was entered. Momeni's attorney argued her client should be released on bail, but the judge refused bail, saying Momeni is a threat to the community.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Montana has become the first state to completely ban TikTok after Republican Governor Greg Gianforte signed a bill into law on Wednesday. Senate Bill 419 is passed the house. The law prohibits app stores from making Tick-Ton-Fortezte. TikTok available for download in the state. It comes as state lawmakers accused China of breaching user security. Here's Republican State Representative Brandon Ler. TikTok is a national security threat. Starting point is 00:03:14 the Chinese Communist Party is unacceptable. TikTok is owned by ByteDance, a Chinese company, and it's been accused of allowing the communist country access to data on Americans' phones. Twitter owner Elon Musk is warned. warning that U.S. policymakers should take China's threats of taking over Taiwan seriously. Musk made the remarks during an interview with CNBC's David Faber. Musk was asked if he was concerned about the growing belligerence between China and the U.S. The official policy of China is Taiwan should be integrated.
Starting point is 00:03:45 One does not need to read between the lines. One can simply read the lines. So I think there's some inevitability to the situation. That would not be good for Tesla conceivably or for any company. in the world, frankly. Yes, for any company in the world. The Chinese economy and the rest of the global economy are like conjoint twins. It would be like trying to separate conjoint twins.
Starting point is 00:04:06 That's the severity of the situation. And Ukraine is claiming that it thwarted 29 out of 30 air strikes sent by Russia early Thursday, leaving one person dead. However, the Russian government denies those claims and says that it successfully hit key Ukrainian weapons and ammunition depots. Those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
