Another series of Russian airstrikes hit several Ukrainian energy facilities, a sign of coming struggle should the airstrikes continue to target power and gas infrastructure. Meanwhile, the United Nations announced that an extension to a deal ensuring grain and fertilizer experts would continue amid the ongoing war. Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kerry Lake has still not conceded, despite multiple outlets calling the race for her Democrat opponent, Katie Hobbs.
Starting point is 00:00:37 In a video post Thursday, Lake told supporters that she's still in this fight. When we called for Katie Hobbs to recuse herself over a year ago, they ridiculed us. It turns out we were right. The Fox was guarding the henhouse. Facebook still has no plans to reinstate former President Trump's account, despite his announcement that he will seek a second term in the White House. Trump was booted from the platform following the events of January 6th, Though he may not have to wait too long to be back on the site as the former president's suspension is set to be reconsidered in January. Twitter owner Elon Musk signaled that the social media platform will soon allow users to post messages with more than 280 characters.
Starting point is 00:01:16 In a tweet Thursday, Musk said, quote, the ability to do long tweets is coming soon. Target has joined a growing list of large retailers blaming an increase in shoplifting for losses and profits. shrink the industry term for items stolen off the shelves, along with higher freight costs and markdown rates, Target says, have resulted in a drop in its gross margin rate from 28 to 25 percent in the third quarter year over year. Starbucks baristas at more than 100 U.S. stores were on strike Thursday in their largest demonstration since the beginning of a campaign to unionize company stores last year. The walkout coincided with the annual Red Cup Day, when the company gives out free, reusable cups to customer. who order a holiday drink. That day is historically one of the chain's busiest years. Former Full House star Candice Cameron Burr has come under fire from the left for her support of traditional marriage.
Starting point is 00:02:10 In her new network, the Great American Family Network founded with a former Hallmark CEO, the actress told the Wall Street Journal that they planned to, quote, keep traditional marriage at the core. Critics have decried the comment as anti-LGB. And after a string of conservative victories for school board positions across the country, the Berkeley County School District in South Carolina fired the district superintendent and lawyer and banned the school from teaching critical race theory. It also established a committee empowered to remove books

The United Kingdom's finance minister, Jeremy Hunt, introduced 25 billion pounds in tax increases and 30 billion pounds in government spending cutbacks as the country's economy continues to struggle. Government leaders hope the policy can help the nation avoid a recession. Colleges have begun putting out their new COVID guidance for the coming school year.
