It's Friday, September 30th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
Oklahoma Children's Hospital will stop offering some gender identity-related medical services
after the state threatened to pull millions of dollars in funding.
The hospital was poised to lose 39.4 million in American Rescue Plan funds
thanks to a bill that requires the hospital to stop offering so-called gender-affirming medical treatments for children
in order to keep the funding.
The FDA proposed new regulations this week for which foods can have labels that say a food is healthy.
The proposal would allow food manufacturers to label products healthy if they contain certain amounts of food from food groups recommended by dietary guidelines,
and if they limit amounts of potentially harmful elements like saturated fat and sugars.
At the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health this week,
the Biden administration said it's raised $8 billion from the public and price.
sector to help end U.S. hunger by 2030.

A new Defense Department report found that China is exploiting federal programs to steal technology.
The report states that China, not the U.S., is the ultimate beneficiary of Department
of Defense and other U.S. government research investments, according to U.S. Senator Joni Ernst.
Ernst said Wednesday that American companies receiving taxpayer funding from the DOD
and other agencies to develop technology,
are recruited by China to continue their work
at institutions associated with the People's Liberation Army.
Shares of biogen stocks soared this week
after the drug maker and its Japanese partner
said their Alzheimer's drugs slowed the rate of cognitive decline
of patients in a late-stage study.
The Queen of Denmark has taken royal titles away from four of her grandchildren.
In a statement, the Palace said the Queen, quote,
wishes to create the framework for four grandchildren
to be able to shape their own lives to a much greater extent without being limited by the special
considerations and duties of the Royal House of Denmark.
An international study released in the British Medical Journal found that COVID-19 vaccinations
do have an effect on the schedule of women's menstrual cycles.
And NBA superstar Kyrie Irving says that he gave up a $100 million contract extension
because he refused to get the COVID vaccine.
I gave up four years, a hundred-something million deciding to be unvaccinated.
And that was the decision.
It was contract, get vaccinated or be unvaccinated,
and there's a level uncertainty of your future,
whether you're going to be in this league,
whether you're going to be on this team.
So I had to deal with that real life circumstance
of losing my job for this decision.
