Starting point is 00:00:02 Members of the G7 nations meet in Italy pledging to support Ukraine and align against Russia while Russian Navy ships dock in Cuba. We, of course, take it seriously, but these exercises don't pose a threat to the United States. I'm Daily Wire, editor-in-chief John Vickley. It's June 15th, and this is a Saturday edition of Morning Wire. The makers of Ozympic and Manjaro could face tens of thousands of lawsuits from patients who say they've been injured by the drugs. About 1.7% of the entire United States is prescribed or taking OZMPIC right now. My prediction is this will be one of the largest lawsuits in the history of the United States.
Starting point is 00:00:49 And several states are aggressively prosecuting people accused of damaging pride murals painted on the road. Thanks for waking up with Morning Wire. Stay tuned. Starting point is 00:01:26 That's wired to 989898 today. Heads of state from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the U.S. gathered in Puglia, Italy this week. The annual G7 summit's priorities included aid, Ukraine, trade concerns with China, the rise of AI, and other important topics. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce is here to talk about what happened at the summit. Hey, Tim. So a lot took place there.
Starting point is 00:01:55 What do we need to know? Hey, John. For President Biden, two major priorities have been more pressure on Russia and aid to Ukraine. G7 leaders agreed and approved in principle to fund Ukraine's defense with the interest acquired from frozen Russian assets. Not all details have been decided, but the shape of the deal. looks like it will include a loan from the U.S. to Ukraine funded by profits generated by Russian assets in Europe. The goal is to generate at least another $50 billion a year for Ukraine
Starting point is 00:02:23 this way. On the summit itself, this was one of the weakest meetings between the G7 leaders in years. Almost all of them, with the exception of Italy's conservative leader, Georgia Maloney, are in trouble politically back home. We've reported about Biden's struggles in the polls, of course, but a resurgence of the right wing in Europe and Canada has undercut support for many current leaders. The odds that we see several new faces at next year's summit is high. Right. We've discussed how economics and immigration have really fueled skepticism about this current ruling class in Europe. Now, Ukraine's president, Vladimir Zelensky, also attended the summit. What did he do while there? Right. Zolensky was on hand to sign security agreements with
Starting point is 00:03:04 Japan and the U.S. In the case of the U.S., Biden and Zelensky signed a 10-year security agreement, which will supply Kiev with a wide range of military assistance. Biden touted his new steps for Ukraine and against Russia at a press conference Thursday. We've taken three major steps at the G7 that collectively show Putin we cannot wait us out. He cannot divide us. And we'll be with Ukraine until they prevail in this war. First is the bilateral security agreement just signed. Second, historic agreement provide $50 billion in value from Russian sovereign assets to Ukraine.
Starting point is 00:03:40 And third, an agreement to ensure our sanctions efforts disrupt third countries that are supplying Russia's war efforts. Zelensky touted it as a major step toward NATO membership. I am grateful that the philosophy of our security agreement is, in fact, the philosophy of the alliance recognizes that our security agreement is a breach to Ukraine's membership in NATO. The agreement also includes promises from Ukraine for reforms and better oversight of the use of U.S. weapons in the war with Russia. This agreement comes alongside news that the U.S. will provide Ukraine with another Patriot missile system and that it's taken another major restriction off Ukraine's use of U.S. weapons by approving their use by the Azov Battalion. The Azov Battalion has ties with neo-Nazism and is alleged to have committed human rights abuses in eastern Ukraine. The U.S. State Department vetted the battalion and said it found no evidence of gross violations of human rights.
Starting point is 00:04:41 As for Russia, how is it responded to all this? In line with how it's reacted to most steps taken to help Ukraine, Moscow's response was threatening, but vague. A spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday, an attempt to seize income from Russian assets would elicit a very painful response. Moscow also had some strong words about the U.S. decision to drop its weapons ban for the Azov Battalion. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov accused the U.S. of being so anti-Russian it was even prepared to flirt with neo-Nazis. And then, of course, a group of Russian Navy vessels sailed into port in Havana, Cuba this week, and they show force about 90 miles from Florida's coast. A tense time between Washington and Moscow for sure. Tim, thanks for joining us.

The makers of popular weight loss drugs could be facing mountains of lawsuits from people claiming the miracle products have caused life-threatening side effects. OZMPIC, Wagovi, and Monjaro have all been blasted recently by patients who say they've suffered crippling complications. Here to discuss the potential backlash is DalyWire Senior Editor Ash Short. Hey, Ash. So what can you tell us about these lawsuits? So numerous people have publicly claimed they suffered debilitating health problems after taking one of those three drugs, which all help with weight loss, though OZMPIC is specifically for managing type 2 diabetes.
Starting point is 00:06:34 But it's become extremely popular for off-label use for weight loss. One woman told the Daily Mail that she took Manjaro and suffered a life-threatening stomach paralysis and doesn't think she'll ever eat solid food again. She's joined a class action lawsuit against Eli Lilly, the drug company behind Manjaro, and Nova Nordisk, the manufacturer of Azimpec. Now, there are dozens of these suits so far, correct? Right, and we may soon be in the hundreds, even thousands. So the first lawsuit that was related to stomach paralysis was filed last August.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Then in February of this year, a multi-districted, case, meaning lawsuits from multiple districts combined into one, was organized against OZempic and Pennsylvania. It combined at least 55 lawsuits from the area, claiming OZempic and the other drugs caused severe gastrointestinal injuries. The number of included lawsuits has since ballooned to 101. Now, the law firm of Robert Pearson Associates even estimated that the number of lawsuits could grow to over 10,000. So are all the allegations related to the stomach paralysis condition or are people experiencing other side effects? There's a host of problems people are claiming. In addition to stomach paralysis, people have
Starting point is 00:07:45 claimed they suffered intestinal blockages. One woman has said she had to have her gallbladder removed because of complications from a Zembek. Another said she had to go to the hospital five times before being diagnosed with gastroporesis. And another woman said Zembek caused her to vomit so much she tore a hole in her esophagus. Now I'd imagine cases like this get complicated quickly. What are the challenges these suits face in court? Well, for one, drug makers have a near endless supply of money to fight lawsuits. But the people alleging life-threatening issues with the drug have to prove that not only did they suffer these issues, which is easy to prove with medical records, but that those issues were caused after they took the drug properly and weren't warned about such potential side effects.
Starting point is 00:08:28 The big key here is whether they took the drug properly. Drugs like this include very specific instructions. and if they aren't followed, patients could suffer. Back in November, there was a story about a woman who started taking a Zempec to lose weight to fit into a specific dress before her daughter's wedding. That woman started suffering gastrointestinal side effects and should have stopped taking the drug, but she kept going because she wanted to lose weight, and she eventually died.
Starting point is 00:08:53 If the patients behind the lawsuit similarly mistook the drug, they may not have a case. We've really seen these drugs take the world by storm, so these lawsuits may prove very significant down the road. Ash, thanks for reporting. You're welcome. As Pride Month continue, several people are facing criminal charges for allegedly defacing pride flags painted on the street, which LGBT activists call a hate crime and critics say
Starting point is 00:09:20 is an overreaction. Daily Wire investigative reporter Marade Alorty is here with the details. So, Marade, tell us about these accusations. Someone leaves tire marks on Pride flag paint and they're criminally charged. Hi, John. Correct. So there are a few recent incidents. like this. In some instances, streets painted in pride flag colors have been vandalized directly with graffiti, arson, or more paint, but critics of the charges are arguing that simply leaving
Starting point is 00:09:46 tire marks or scooter skid marks on the street should not necessarily be prosecuted and does not constitute a hate crime. In early February, a Florida man was accused of deliberately doing multiple burnouts with his pickup truck in a Delray beach intersection that was painted in LGBT colors. The incident was caught on surveillance video, which was released by police and shows a pickup truck with an American flag attached to the back, leaving tire marks on the intersection's pride paint while making a hard left after dark. In response, authorities launched a week-long search for the driver until Dylan Prueur 19 surrendered himself.
Starting point is 00:10:28 He was charged with felony criminal mischief, damaged a property over $1,000 and misdemeanor reckless driving. He was released on a $5,250 bond. The Delray Beach Police Department said witnesses saw him, quote, intentionally doing multiple burnouts over the LGBT Pride crosswalk. The police said the, quote, reckless action caused significant damage to the streetscape painting, which serves as a symbol of unity and inclusivity for the LGBTQ community. The Palm Beach County Human Rights Council declared the suspect's actions should be considered a hate crime. All right. So they're calling for steeper charges. Right. And this is not
Starting point is 00:11:02 the only incident like this, correct? Right. It's not. Earlier this month, three teenagers were arrested and charged with a felony for leaving scooter marks on the Pride flag painting. on a street in Spokane. Prosecutors demanded a $15,000 bond for the teens, again, for scooter marks. Police used surveillance footage from the intersection to find the suspects. One of the suspect was charged with malicious mischief
Starting point is 00:11:25 with a hate crime bias. He was accused of shouting a profanity and a gay slur at a passerby. The teens rented their scooters from Lyme Scooters, which said it is, quote, taking immediate action against the perpetrators. Lyme Scooters said their company condemns these vile acts in no uncertain terms
Starting point is 00:11:41 and that it is disturbing to see the hate taking place in Spokane. The company also said it was instituting a no-ride zone around the mural to protect it from any future vandalism attempts, which means the scooters will shut down if driven over the street's pride paint. A local Spokane outlet also reported that more youths left scooter skid marks on the streets pride colors the next day. The youngsters also left marks on other parts of the street, the outlet reported. By the way, a new Washington state law that makes it a hate crime to deface public instillars. with the intent of intimidating a protected group went into effect on June 6th. So a lot of accusations flying around in Spokane.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Any other places we're seeing criminal charges over this? Yes, there are a few others. In Bend, Oregon, several vehicles reportedly burned their tires out on a Pride crosswalk, which police said could be classified as speed racing, which is a traffic violation as well as potentially even reckless driving. In St. Petersburg, Florida, residents complained about tire marks on their Pride-painted intersection as well. One local there who organizes a local LGBT conference called the police over the tire marks and said, quote, I'm having a hard time believing that it's not intentional.
Starting point is 00:12:51 So as you said, a lot of accusations going around and we're seeing that it's pretty controversial to level hate crime charges against people just for leaving tire marks on the street. As many have noted, far more serious crimes like activists defacing national monuments as we recently saw in D.C. often go unpunished. Right. Lots of claims of a two-tiered justice system based on ideology here. Right, thanks for reporting. Thanks, John. Hey, thank you for listening this morning.
