House Republicans have subpoenaed Special Counsel Robert Her for any transcripts and recordings he may have from interviews with President Biden. This comes after the release of Heur's report on the president's mishandling of classified documents, in which Her recommended against charging Biden because he could present to jurors as a, quote,
Starting point is 00:00:42 elderly man with a poor memory. GOP House leaders requested the materials related to Biden's October 2020 interview be turned over to Congress earlier this month and set a deadline of February 19th. That deadline was not met, but the Justice Department said it was working to gather and process responsive documents. The subpoena reportedly compels the DOJ to hand over all documents and communications, including audio and video recordings related to hers interview with Biden. The top four congressional leaders met with President Biden at the White House today. The goal was to hammer out an agreement on a foreign aid package and avoid a partial government shutdown this week.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Daily Wire senior editor Cabot Phillips says the latest. Senate leaders Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries all favor the $95 million dollar foreign. an aid bill passed by Congress. What Speaker Mike Johnson and many House Republicans want border security first, if the deal cannot be made, the departments of agriculture, energy, transportation, veterans affairs, and housing and urban development, as well as a number of other programs, will shut down non-essential work at midnight eastern time Saturday. Funding for the rest of the government, defense, state, homeland security, and justice departments
Starting point is 00:01:54 expires the following week on March 8th. The president and congressional Democrats have stressed the critical need for legislation in both of these areas. Congress's responsibility from the government. We've got to get about doing it's shut down. It would damage the economy significantly. And I think we all agree to that. And we need to buy-partial solutions.
Starting point is 00:02:13 So, uh, Meanwhile, in a post-meeting press conference, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his belief that America's needs should come first. He stressed that the biggest concern for the American people is the crisis at the southern border. The first priority of the country is our border in making sure it's secure.
Starting point is 00:02:31 I believe the president can take executive authority right now today to change that. And I told him that again today in person, as I've said to him many times publicly and privately over the last several weeks. It's time for action. It is a catastrophe and it must stop. And we will get the government funded and we'll keep working on that. A senior Hamas official is throwing cold water on the following comments made by President Biden. Well, I hope by the beginning of the weekend, I mean the end of the weekend. At least my national security advisor tells me that we're close. We're close. It's not done yet. And my hope is by next Monday we'll have a ceasefire. The Hamas official accused the U.S. of leaking
Starting point is 00:03:12 proposals for a fighting pause with the intent to pressure the terror group into a deal that would not end the fighting permanently or lead to the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more. Biden's comments come after he appeared last night on late night with Seth Myers. Qatar has mediated talks between Israel and Hamas this week. Meanwhile, other ceasefire negotiations with U.S., Israeli, Qatari, and Egyptian officials took place in Paris. Administration officials and Arab diplomats say negotiators are racing to reach a deal on the release of hostages and aid to Gaza. They also hope to keep unrest down during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, set to begin in March. As a negotiator in Qatar tells NBC, there has been progress, but there are

Fulton County Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade's former divorce attorney testified today in the hearing pertaining to the romantic relationship between Wade and District Attorney Fannie Willis. The presiding judge who's overseeing the Georgia election interference case against former President Trump will allow some communication between Wade and his former attorney to be used.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Here's attorney Terrence Bradley being asked what he learned from Wade regarding him and Willis meeting at an office together. I do recall that he would go down to the office or had been down to the office, but I can't tell you in what capacity or when or any of that. No. Mr. Wade told you that they had sex with the office, that, correct? I don't recall him saying that, no. You don't recall it? No.
Starting point is 00:05:04 So it's possible he did say that. Defendants in the election interference case have alleged that Willis and Wade have enjoyed big financial gains off of this case due to their personal relationship. As a result, the judge has said the relationship could possibly disqualify the Fulton County AG from further prosecuting the case against Trump and his co-defendants. Arrest warrants and affidavits published Tuesday shed more light on the death of Georgia nursing student Lake and Riley. The suspect, Jose Antonio Ibarra, is accused of kidnapping Riley between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and, and quote, disfiguring her skull with an object. The Athens-Clarc County coroner's office confirmed the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The documents also allege that Ibarra dragged Riley from the intramural fields to a, quote, secluded area and prevented her from making a 911 call. New York Mayor Eric Adams is now calling for an end to one key part of the city's sanctuary
Starting point is 00:06:00 laws. Prompted by a rash of violent attacks committed by illegal immigrants, the mayor now says he wants to be able to turn those who commit felonies over to ICE. This is a major reversal for the mayor who has supported the city's sanctuary status. He made the remarks Monday night at a town hall meeting. We need to modify the sanctuary city law that if you commit a felony, a violent act, We should be able to turn you over the ice and have you deported. It is a right to live in this city, and you should be not committing crimes in our city of doing so. Right now, we don't have the authority to do so. Those are your drive home updates this afternoon.
