It's Wednesday, September 25th,
and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
Top military leaders in Israel have told Israeli soldiers
to prepare for a possible entry into Lebanon
with the mission to destroy
Hezbollah's infrastructure. This comes as tensions rise between Israel and the terrorist group,
which has been launching strikes against Israel for a year. Israel has called up two reservist
brigades and launched strikes on Hezbollah targets, prompting more attacks from the terror group.
The Israeli military is reinforcing its northern border as the conflict escalates.
The House passed a funding bill today to prevent a government shut down before next week's
deadline. The bill removes a Republican proposal requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote
after Speaker Johnson cut a deal with House Democrats. The bill now heads to the Senate where
leadership has said they aim to finalize it before the October 1st deadline. The bill would fund
the government through December 20th and includes $231 million for the Secret Service. Lawmakers
hope to avoid a shutdown before the upcoming recess. The House Oversight Committee has opened an
investigation into the Biden-Harris administration for allegedly using taxpayer resources to pay
for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's travel. Zelensky is being accused of interfering in the U.S.
election after appearing to campaign for Harris in Pennsylvania with Governor Josh Shapiro.
We still count on continuing support. We are thankful to President Biden, bipartisan support,
and thanks to such plums and such workers, officers, soldiers, surgeons for such such soldiers.
What did you stay with us? Thank you, Governor.
Committee Chair James Comer sent letters to the White House, Pentagon, and DOJ,
questioning if the administration sought to use Zelensky's visit to benefit Harris's campaign.
The committee is requesting documents related to the issue by October 2nd.
Ryan Routh has been charged with attempting to assassinate former President Trump.
Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the latest.
A grand jury in Florida charged Routh with attempted assassination, along with four
other offenses, including possession of a firearm and assaulting a federal officer.
Prosecutors say Ralph, armed with a rifle, was hiding near Trump's West Palm Beach
Golf Course on September 15th when Secret Service spotted him and opened fire.
Ralph fled, but was later apprehended. FBI director Christopher Ray called the assassination
attempt a threat to the democratic process, vowing a thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, Trump is called for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to take over the investigation.
Attorney General Merrick Garland addressed Florida's involvement yesterday while hinting of further
charges. Will you cooperate with Florida officials that want to do their own investigation?
Our job is to ensure full accountability here. We always seek to cooperate and to get assistance
from state and local law enforcement to the extent consistent with the law and appropriate
with respect to the investigations. This episode is brought to you by prize picks.

up to the first assassination attempt on Trump. Daily Wire reporter Amanda Presta Jacabo has more.
The bipartisan report criticizes the agency for denying requests for additional security,
including drones and counter-assault agents and for failing to act on a credible threat.
The report also highlights poor communication between federal and local law enforcement.
The Secret Service has vowed to improve security measures moving forward.
The shooter Thomas Crooks killed one person, injured two others, and grazed Trump before
being shot by counter-sniper.
As Senator Rand Paul tells Fox News, the report cites multiple failures by the Secret Service,
and instead of holding people accountable, the plan is to throw more money at it.
This is something Paul says won't solve the problem.
You know, when you have human error, you fix it by replacing the humans.
You don't just give the same humans of much more money.
But, you know, it was one thing after another.
And really, when we began interviewing the people that were there in Butler,
nobody was in charge.
Everybody says, oh, no, he was in charge, she was in charge.
I was in charge of this, but not everything else.
And so you asked, well, didn't somebody walk by that route?
nobody's protecting the roof.
But you also have to realize that the counter-snipers, the good guys that shot and killed
the shooter, that's the first time Trump had him.
One person is dead after a Los Angeles metro bus was hijacked early Wednesday morning,
leading to an hour-long police chase.
The suspect allegedly boarded the bus and forced the bus driver to flee at gunpoint
before driving away with two passengers still on board.
Before disembarking, the bus driver activated a call 911 alert,
to display on the front of the bus.
Police ultimately used spike strips to stop the bus.
A SWAT team rescued one passenger,
but the second passenger was found with multiple gunshot wounds
and later died at the hospital.
The suspect surrendered and is now in custody,
an investigation is ongoing.
Vice President Harris is set to sit down with MSNBC's Stephanie Rule tonight
for her first major solo interview
since becoming the Democratic nominee.
This comes days after Rule defended Harris
for not providing specifics in interviews, saying the focus should be on her race against Trump.
I'm not going to vote for her.
She's running for perfect.
She's running against Trump.
We have two choices.
And so there are some things you might not know her answer to.
And in 2024, unlike 2016 for a lot of the American people, we know exactly what Trump will do, who he is, and the kind of threat he is to democracy.
As previously reported, he was in a lot of the American people, we know exactly what Trump will do, who he is to democracy.
As previously reported.
As previously reported on Morning Wire, Harris and her running mate Tim Walls have sat down for just eight total interviews with the press, while Trump and Vance have done a combined 74.
And in his first addressed to the United Nations, Argentinian President Javier Malay blasted the organization, accusing it of overreach and pushing an ideological agenda.
Malay condemned the U.N.'s pact for the future, calling it twisted and out of step with the original mission of the U.N.
He also criticized the organization's handling of dictatorships and support for lockdowns during the pandemic.
Malay urged nations to join him in promoting an agenda for freedom and individual liberty.
Here's Malay speaking through a translator.
This organization stopped looking after its main aims set out in its founding declaration and started to change.
This was an organization that had essentially been thought up as a shield to protect the reign of men and became a Leviathan.
with various tentacles purporting to decide not only what each nation-state should do,
but also how all the citizens in the world should live.
