The man suspected of murdering United Healthcare's CEO shouted at reporters as he was led into his extradition hearing today. Luigi Mangione was denied bail during the hearing and is also fighting extradition to New York where he faces a murder charge. In the meantime, he'll stay in the Pennsylvania State Prison. According to police, the 26-year-old's mental health spiraled amid debilitating back pain, which he documented following a surgery. Investigators are now looking into how and why he vanished for the past six years.
Starting point is 00:01:02 months and his possible motivations. In the statement, the Mangione family offered their condolences to the family of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson. It's also been revealed that the 26-year-old shooting suspect was a former Ivy League student known for his academic achievements and tech background. Mangione was caught yesterday at a Pennsylvania McDonald's with a weapon, fake ID, and manifesto denouncing the healthcare industry and what he called corporate greed. New York's Attorney General is refusing to back down on the civil case against President
Starting point is 00:01:32 elect Trump. Daily Wire Deputy Managing editor Tim Rice has the latest. The AG is pushing forward with her fraud case against President-elect Donald Trump and rejecting his request to drop the lawsuit, which Trump says is for the greater good of the country. James argues that presidents are not immune from civil litigation related to unofficial conduct and that the case will proceed regardless of Trump's inauguration. Trump was ordered to pay a $454 million judgment, which he is appealing. The decision on his appeal is still pending. The AG, who campaigned on getting Trump, spoke last month after Trump's resounding election victory. No matter what the next administration throws at us, we're ready to respond to any attempts to cut or eliminate any funding to the great state of New York, as the governor outlined.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Given the green light, open border policies and threats to law enforcement, that's the name of today's House Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing. GOP subcommittee members argued that Biden's border policies have, put law enforcement officers across the nation at greater risk while giving a foothold to transnational criminal organizations like Trend de Aragua. Subcommittee chairman Anthony Desposito also pointed to sanctuary city laws. Here's one of the hearing witnesses, Jonathan Thompson, CEO of the National Sheriff's Association. This gang has become a severe public safety threat to the U.S. communities. and its rise is a direct consequence, a direct consequence of border policies that have failed this country. It is the leading and most dangerous criminal element we face, no doubt about it.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Democrats on the subcommittee criticized the number of hearings that have been held about the southern border, claiming they offered no real solution. They also seem to suggest Trump's plan for mass deportations would distract law enforcement from prioritizing violent criminals and national security threats. Speaking of national security threats, Trend de Aragua has again expanded its reach across the U.S. Suspected members of the Venezuelan prison gang have recently been arrested in West Fargo, North Dakota. Authorities arrested an alleged member after he was found with over $24,000 in stolen cash and hacking tools. The illegal immigrant is accused of being part of a group that targets ATMs.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended himself today in court against corruption charges.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the details. The charges allege bribery and breach of trust. The allegations go back nearly five years and stem from three separate cases. Netanyahu denounced the allegations as politically motivated, claiming they are an attack on him during a time of national crisis. He pointed to ongoing conflicts with Hamas, Hezbollah, and other regional issues, arguing that the timing of the trial was absurd. Netanyahu's supporters have rallied behind him, calling the trial an unjust attempt to remove him from power. A wildfire in Malibu spanning hundreds of acres is threatening homes and businesses,
Starting point is 00:04:56 including the famous Malibu Pier. The fire started as a brush fire late. Monday, three miles north of the Pacific Coast Highway. It rapidly grew from around 10 acres to 100 acres within the first hour. Evacuations have been ordered in several surrounding areas. Pepperdine University has canceled classes and events, but the campus does not appear to be directly threatened. The fire is currently traveling south towards Santa Monica. And a bankruptcy judge in Houston is expected to hear a second day of argument litigating the Onions bid to purchase Alex Jones Info Wars. The Onion, a satire website, offered $1.75 million in cash plus other incentives in November
Starting point is 00:05:36 for Info Wars at an auction. Jones is claiming the auction was rigged and that the valuation of his platform is artificially low. One set of rules said you couldn't have formulas or credit to everybody else, but to Bloomberg and the Democrat group, they said, you can do whatever you want. Then the judge asked on the November 14th emergency hearing where he said that the cell did not happen. He said, how much was winning bid?
Starting point is 00:05:56 we can't tell you. And that was because they never even agreed. It was just a made-up number of 3.6 million. Jones is selling Info Wars as part of his personal bankruptcy case stemming from lawsuits over his claims about the Sandy Hook shooting.
