Starting point is 00:00:03 Homeland Security reveals a key new detail from the fatal ice shooting in Minneapolis as six federal prosecutors resign over the case. If they feel the need to resign because of orders they have gotten, that is a great statement of their part that this is not tolerable by them. Plus, Minnesota Governor Tim Walls faces impeachment charges. I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley. It's Thursday, January 15th, and this is Morning Wire. Meanwhile, prosecutors tasked with looking into Good's activist background, keep leaving the Justice Department.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Here to talk more about the latest in the investigation is Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce. So, Tim, we have some new information about this agent's health status after being struck by Good's car. What have we learned? Well, according to the Department of Homeland Security, goods vehicle struck the ICE agent hard enough to cause some amount of internal bleeding. Secretary Noem had previously said that the officer was hospitalized after the incident and then released later that same day, but she never said the extent of the officer's injuries. We also learned on Tuesday that the agent and his family have gone into hiding.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Here's Borders are Tom Homan on the podcast, Will Cain country on that. There are wanted poachers with his pitcher, his license plate number. You know, and he's the death threats against him and his family. According to NBC News, some of the agent's neighbors saw people with moving boxes at the agent's house last week. The attention on the agent after the good shooting has been so significant that even some of the neighbors have talked about temporarily leaving the neighborhood until it all settles down. And while the controversy over this, ICE involved shooting is still burning. There was another ICE involved shooting last night in Minneapolis. According to Homeland Security, the ICE officer was struggling with a suspected illegal alien when two more people ambushed and hit the officer.
Starting point is 00:03:41 with a shovel. The original suspect joined the attack, and the officer was forced to fire defensive shots, hitting the original suspect and officer were hospitalized, and the other two assailants were taken into custody. The incident, of course, drew police and a large crowd of protesters, and this was after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz made an address last night and called for protests against ICE. Let's be very, very clear. This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of Minnesota by our own federal government. Now, on a related note, the investigation itself into this incident in the state of Minnesota has become very controversial. We've heard reports that some of the Justice Department
Starting point is 00:04:23 officials that are in charge of investigating this have now resigned. What do we know? Right. Reports say that at least half a dozen prosecutors have resigned from the Minneapolis U.S. Attorney's Office. All of them were assigned to investigate the Renee Good incident. The resignations even included Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson, who led the prosecution of the feeding our future cases that implicated dozens from the Twin City of Somali community. According to the New York Times, Thompson objected to limits placed on the case to not investigate whether the shooting was lawful, nor to include state law enforcement in the investigation. Instead, the investigation has in part focused on goods ties to activist groups that aim to disrupt ICE operations. According to several reports, the ICE watch groups that Good and her wife joined monitor ICE's movements and attempt to warn people, presumably illegal aliens who would have been picked up by ICE, that agents are in an area. But sometimes those activities border on what could be obstruction of federal law enforcement.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Activists like Good have gotten in the way of federal agents carrying out raids or arrests. Well, and on top of that, we're now seeing a barrage of threats toward ICE agents, so it's become a pretty risky job. pivoting to Tim Walls, he now is facing articles of impeachment. Who brought those? Yeah, a group of state Republican lawmakers say that Walls should be impeached over the vast amount of fraud that has taken place in Minnesota under his watch. State Representative Mike Weiner told Newsweek that since Walls said the buck stops with him, he should have resigned immediately. And since he hasn't, Wiener said, quote, the next step is impeachment. Our taxpayers are demanding this. And if Democrats don't support the impeachment, they are complicit.
Starting point is 00:06:02 with the fraud. There are four articles of impeachment so far, all relating to the fraud scandal and accusing Walls of intentionally covering it up for political calculations. But the chances of this effort actually succeeding are pretty slim, since the impeachment effort can't really move forward without support from Democrats. Well, a long shot, but certainly it is huge damage to Walls' reputation. Tim, thanks for reporting. Thanks for having me. This episode is sponsored by Brickhouse Nutrition. By the time the average person reaches 60, they've likely cycled through numerous fad diets like juice cleanses, the cabbage soup diet, and raw food regimens collectively losing and regaining several hundred pounds over the years.
Starting point is 00:06:41 You've probably done it without even knowing that there's a name for it. It's called weight cycling. Half of Americans are stuck in this frustrating cycle, and doctors are now seeing it's not just disappointing. It can actually be dangerous. That's where lean comes in. Unlike those expensive GLP1 injections, lean is a non-prescription supplement created by doctors specifically for this problem.
Starting point is 00:06:59 And the science behind it is rock solid. I used to be that guy in the kitchen here at work, loading up on snacks more than a few times a day. But with Lean, I spend less time snacking and more time focused in on work. You know the executives love to hear that one. If you want to lose meaningful weight at a healthy pace and keep it off, add Lean to your diet and exercise lifestyle. Get 20% off when you enter Wire at TakeLean.com. Starting point is 00:07:33 Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Tear is on the ground there in the city with the latest and actually wrote along with ICE on Wednesday. Hey, Jenny, so about your ride along, were there any moments you felt like things might spin out of control like they did last week? There were absolutely moments where I felt like things were just going to go haywire within a split second because you had these agitators who were driving in the way of those officers. they were swerving almost directly into them, I mean, from my view. And it happened just within a blink of an eye. I've never seen anything like this. I've been on many ride-alongs with ice. I've covered this issue for years.
Starting point is 00:08:16 And this situation is like nothing I've ever seen. Just again, how organized they are, how they're going out and using different tools to expose the whereabouts of ice, but then get in their way. they're making these arrests of agitators daily now. This is becoming a regular thing. So while they're making arrests of people who are here illegally, who have criminal records, they're also trying to get these people charged and off the streets
Starting point is 00:08:47 who are impeding in their operations, who are assaulting them in some cases. They're also trying to really de-escalate these situations. They're giving these people the opportunity to step away, to move. They're giving them verbal orders before things escalate. And in reality, they're trying to just get out of the way of these agitators. They're trying to move on to their next target and not cause anything to really boil over. But these agitators continue to follow them, continue to move people around the city to show up where they're going to be next. So it's a very
Starting point is 00:09:28 intense situation, a very organized, well-communicated operation. I even met a guy here who was 3D printing whistles and handing them out. He had 50 that he had printed today. All of them were gone by this afternoon, handed out to those agitators who are then going out to where ICE is making arrests, blowing those whistles so that they're alerting everyone around the ICE is here. And then people aren't coming out of their homes. They're not leaving their workplaces. They're not going out. so that ICE won't arrest them. So is the city effectively shut down in some areas? Yeah, some of the protesters said that they actually haven't been able to work.
Starting point is 00:10:06 There was a bartender who works a lot of different events in the city, and he said tons of events have been canceled, so he really can't go to work. There's no reason to go and bartend at these events right now, and they were very upset about that. They're saying that ICE is really causing these parts of the city to shut down, We know that there were school closures last week after the shooting. But yes, it's really affecting life here.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Again, agitators out in the streets. I mean, they're out in the community. So when we were riding along with ICE, we saw just the extent of this. When ICE is out there and they're driving to, let's say, an apartment complex where we were trying to make an arrest, trying to go knock on the door of their target that day who is supposed to be deported from this country. And what happens is you have agitators starting to follow them behind their cars very closely. And then while that's happening, you start to see these agitators forming on each corner of the street. I mean, really surrounding these neighborhoods. And again, with those whistles,
Starting point is 00:11:15 they're blowing, they're honking their horns. And then once the ice agents are getting out of their car, they're standing right across from them. They're yelling really nasty things at them. But those ice agents, at the same time, it's like water off their back. They're walking into those arrest sites. They're going into that apartment complex, for example, where we were. And they're knocking on the door, and they're trying to get their target to come out to, you know, be able to effectuate an arrest. They're up against a lot, but they're still going out there. Now, we didn't see any of those arrests being made. None of those people came out. And I think that's really the story here is that you have ICE agents who are out there trying to make arrests, who are trying to continue this,
Starting point is 00:11:59 despite all this pushback. Now, teams were out there in other areas of the city, other federal teams, because we know this is a larger effort. There's about 3,000 federal agents that have been deployed. So they're out there. There were a lot of arrests made outside of that, but it just shows you what these officers are up against. Well, we've all seen how quickly these things escalate, so we're glad you came back safely from that right along with ICE. Jenny, thank you so much for reporting. Thank you. Bill and Hillary Clinton are refusing to comply with a subpoena in the House Oversight Committee's investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Daily Wire, political reporter Cameron, Arcan, has more. So Cameron,
Starting point is 00:12:38 what are the Clinton saying? So in a very lengthy statement posted earlier this week, they said that they are not planning on complying with the subpoena given by the House Oversight Committee, you know, citing the current political climate saying that this is about right versus wrong. And they've also said and claimed that their attorneys have found that these subpoenas are legally invalid. So they're willing to fight this battle right now. And it's obviously blown up and is considered very controversial given how high profile both of them are. Now, can you just ignore a subpoena or claim that it's illegal? What are the consequences for doing this? So there could be potentially major consequences for the Clintons in this regard as House Oversight Committee Chair, James Comer,
Starting point is 00:13:27 has said that he does plan to hold them in contempt of Congress over this. So here's what he had to say. Well, here we are again. I don't think it's any secret. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined her husband in defying a bipartisan lawful congressional subpoena to show up today. I think what's most disappointing to the oversight committee is the fact that we have in good faith negotiated with the Clinton's attorneys for five months. So obviously when something like this happens, we could potentially see criminal charges filed against the Clintons in this regard. People have served jail time for this before for not willing to give a deposition. And something that Comer has said repeatedly is just because we're asking you to give a deposition
Starting point is 00:14:13 and we sent this in on a bipartisan basis does not mean that there's necessarily any evidence of wrongdoing in this regard. They're simply using this as a vehicle to get answers to questions they have regarding Jeffrey Epstein, as we saw many of those files released last year. Now, what's the political reaction to this been? Are they getting support from Democrats? Well, their lengthy statement on social media did cause a lot of Democrats to rally around them. They see this as an active resistance to the Republicans in Congress and the Trump and But one thing that Comer has argued is this was a bipartisan process, especially given that there was such bipartisan interest in the Epstein files and into this ongoing Epstein probe. So here's what he had to say the other day about what we could expect next week.
Starting point is 00:14:59 When Bill Clinton was president, Jeffrey Epstein went to the White House 17 times and then post-presidency, Bill Clinton flew on Jeffrey Epstein's plane at least 27 times. So that shows they were close. Again, no one's accusing Bill Clinton of any wrongdoing. We just have questions. And the Democrats in Congress, they've gone full war mode on trying to get people in to talk about Epstein. But when it came to Bill Clinton, initially the Democrats voted for the subpoena. And they said, yeah, we want to hear from Bill Clinton too. They didn't even come to the deposition.
Starting point is 00:15:33 And they're all running and evading reporters who, quite surprisingly, the mainstream media has been pretty critical that Bill Clinton didn't show up for this. subpoena. Well, like you said, a lot of bipartisan interest in getting to the bottom of this, so hopefully they will take the stand. Cameron, thanks for reporting. Thank you. Thanks for waking up with us. And if you're listening to the show, you can now watch the show free on Daily Wire Plus. We'll be back this evening with more news you need to know.
