Memphis police say a sixth officer has been disciplined for his involvement in the brutal beating and arrest of Tyrene Nichols. The department revealed that Officer Preston Hemphill was relieved of duty shortly after the January 7th arrest of Nichols, but Hemphill's role in Nichols' arrest was not disclosed. A federal jury has acquitted pro-life activist Mark Howk on charges of violating federal law outside an abortion clinic. Here with more is Daily Wire Writer Tim Meads. Starting point is 00:00:44 September, was facing two counts of violating the FACE Act after shoving a Planned Parenthood escort in 2021. The escort had reportedly harassed his son. The DOJ's prosecution came after local authorities opted not to charge the Catholic activist. He faced up to 11 years in prison. Minnesota's Democrat majority Senate voted to enshrine the right to abortion into state law without limiting the stage of the pregnancy. Senators approved the bill by just a one-vote margin 3433. Democratic Governor Tim Walts is expected to sign the measure into law. Millions in the South could be left without power by a major ice storm in the coming days, as Americans in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Tennessee could face nearly half an inch of ice through Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:01:37 This week, the city of Alhambra, California, awarded Brandon Zay, the bystander who disarmed the Monterey Park shooter last weekend with a medal of courage. Security footage showed the 26-year-old tackled and wrestled the firearm away from the suspect, who had already killed 11 and wounded more earlier in the day. And at this time, our police chief, Frasier, would like to... honor you with a beautiful medal of courage. Utah banned sex change surgeries for minors over the weekend after the GOP-led House fast-tracked a bill outlawing gender procedures and other hormone-altering therapy for those under 18. Republican Governor Spencer Cox signed the new bill on Saturday. Here's one advocate testifying in support of the bill.
Starting point is 00:02:25 It is wrong to convince children that they are in the wrong body. Nothing could be more abusive or harmful. Russia's deputy foreign minister, Sergei Rebkov, said on state TV Monday that peace talks with Ukraine are pointless after the U.S. announced it would send 31 Abrams tanks to assist Ukraine. He also added that President Vladimir Putin would be willing to consider any serious initiatives, but claim that none have been proposed by the West. President Biden has maintained that Russia can end the war at any time. If Russia troops return to Russia, they'll be there where they belong. This war would be over today. The Australian Open wrapped this weekend with Novak Djokovic reclaiming his title at the top of the tennis world after not being allowed to compete last year.
Starting point is 00:03:12 Here with an update is David Cohn from Crane & Company. The victory gives Djokovic his 22nd overall Grand Slam title, which ties Rafael Nidal for the most ever. Now, this win carries extra significance for Novak, considering he was barred from competing in the tournament last year and was deployed. from the country due to his refusal to receive vaccination against COVID-19. Here is Novak Djokovic. Only the team and the family knows what we've been through in the last four or five weeks.
