It's Thursday, September 26th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
The federal indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams was unsealed today.
The Democratic mayor has been indicted for allegedly accepting millions of dollars in a legal
campaign contributions and bribes from foreign nationals in exchange for political favors.
The indictment alleges a decade-long pattern of corruption.
Adams reportedly received lavish perks, including luxury travel, in exchange for waiving city
regulations.
Despite the charges, Adams denies any wrongdoing and says he will remain in office while
fighting the allegations.
I ask New Yorkers to wait to hear our defense before making any judgments.
My day-to-day will not.
change. I will continue to do the job for 8.3 million New Yorkers that I was elected to do.
And the 300,000-plus employees of our city government will continue to do their jobs, because this is what we do as New Yorkers.
This marks the first federal indictment of a sitting New York City mayor in history.
Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky met with U.S.
leaders today in an effort to secure continued support in the war against Russia. Daily Wire
senior editor, Joel Needler, has more. President Biden pledged billions more in military aid,
while Vice President Harris vowed to maintain assistance if elected. Zelensky's appearance in
Washington also comes amid his efforts to secure approval for the use of long-range missile systems
in the war. Former President Trump criticized ongoing U.S. aid and suggested Ukraine should negotiate an
end to the war. Zelensky has also stirred controversy over an interview he did with the New York
in which he called Trump's running mate J.D. Vance, quote, too radical.
Vance responded during a speech last night.
It is not in America's interest. It's not in Ukraine's interest.
It's not in Europe's interest for this war to go on indefinitely.
Look, I don't appreciate Zelensky coming to this country
and telling the American taxpayers what they ought to do.
He ought to say thank you to the American taxpayers.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz does not deny that FBI informants
were among the January 6th crowd.
Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has the latest.
In testimony before the House Select Subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government
yesterday, Horowitz acknowledged a review of the presence of confidential human sources during the
January 6th Capitol riot. When pressed by Congressman Thomas Massey, Horowitz didn't provide
specifics, but did not deny that federal sources were among those present, citing an ongoing
review. Horowitz said the final report will be released in the coming months, potentially after
the 2024 election. Here's Massey questioning the
inspector general. You're supposed to be the organization that goes and gets these answers when the FBI
and the DOJ Stonewall Congress, but I feel like, you know, we're four years into this. We're not even
going to get this information. You're telling us now before the election and maybe not even
before the next inauguration. How would we make any corrections without that information?

A former secret service agent says security measures at the July rally where Trump was nearly
assassinated were very atypical. Daily Wire Deputy Managing editor Tim Rice reports.
In testimony before the bipartisan task force probing the assassination attempt,
Patrick Sullivan, who spent 20 years as a secret service agent, pointed to the failure to secure
the event's perimeter, questioned why no snipers were deployed, and criticized the communication
plan as inadequate, adding that these issues likely caused the breach in security. But he really
zeroed in on the Secret Service's lack of communication with local law enforcement, calling it unusual.
Normally there will be an overall command post for the entire visit. Then each site will have what's
called the security room where radio traffic pertinent to that individual site is controlled.
And the command post, the overall command post should be the state local police, Secret Service,
and other federal partners that may be assisting.
The Secret Service is investigating accusations that an agent sexually assaulted a Harris campaign aide.
The incident allegedly occurred last week in Wisconsin after campaign staffers and agents had drinks together following their work.
According to reports, the intoxicated agent allegedly forced himself on the victim in a hotel room.
The Secret Service confirmed that the investigation is underway and has placed the agent on administrative leave.
And Hurricane Helene is barreling towards Florida with,
an expected landfall this evening. Experts are warning the Category 4 storm could be the most
catastrophic since Hurricane Michael in 2018. The National Hurricane Center is warning of
life-threatening storm surges along Florida's West Coast and Big Bend region, with waves that could
reach 20 feet above sea level. Here's Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. You have time to implement
your plan so that you're prepared for the storm. Those who are under evacuation orders have the
ability to do it. You have the ability to make sure you have gas, make sure you have non-perishable food,
water. All those things can still be done, but just know these effects are coming to the state
of Florida, and it's not a matter of whether we're going to get effects. It's just a question of
how significant those effects will be. The storm is expected to affect multiple states in the
southeast as it travels north from the Gulf. All right, those are your drive home updates this
afternoon to learn more about these stories. Go to Dailywire.com and for more in-depth reporting
