Starting point is 00:00:02 This is Daily Wire, editor-in-chief John Bickley with Georgia Howl. It's Tuesday, May 16th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. Across the country, states and cities are dealing with an influx of thousands of illegal immigrants who have entered the country in recent weeks. On Tuesday morning in Williamsburg, a neighborhood of New York City, students and parents protested both in favor of and against the use of a local school's gymnasium to house the migrants. Children could be seen holding signs saying, quote,
Starting point is 00:00:32 We need recess and chanting. We support the silence week because we're out of school and we're out. There are roughly 150 temporary shelters being used across the Big Apple for the more than 40,000 illegal aliens who have come in under the Biden administration. Many parents feel this poses a safety risk. Who are they? Exactly. Who are they? Families who fled war? They're not families.
Starting point is 00:00:58 They're not families? No, they're men. They're all individual men. And they can come and go. In the last week alone, 4,000 individuals have arrived from the southern border, and the city says it has simply nowhere else to put them. Mark Halk, the Catholic father of seven, whose house was raided by the FBI back in September, spoke before the House Judiciary Committee today on Capitol Hill. Halk recounted what's happened to him over the past several months. That includes the charges he faced from the Department of Justice for allegedly violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and the FBI raid. on his house. On September 23rd, my home was rated by 10 unmarked and marked units, state troopers,
Starting point is 00:01:42 federal law enforcement personnel. We proceeded to go into a four and a half month trial, but I was facing 11 years in prison and I had every prospect in my heart that I would be in federal prison away from my seven children. This all stems from a 2021 incident outside a Pennsylvania abortion clinic in which Halk shoved a planned parenthood escort who was allegedly harassing both Halk and his son. The IRS agent who alleges the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden has been corrupted by lies and politics is being pulled from the inquiry in a possible act of retaliation. Attorneys Mark Little and Tristan Leed called the move clearly retaliatory and said it may also constitute obstruction of a congressional inquiry. The CEO of ChatGPT, the popular online artificial intelligence tool, testified before the Senate today

Sam Altman is just the latest in tech gurus from Elon Musk to Steve Wozniak, calling for government intervention before it's too late. when Photoshop came onto the scene a long time ago, you know, for a while, people were really quite fooled by Photoshop images,
Starting point is 00:03:07 and then pretty quickly developed an understanding that images might be Photoshopped. This will be like that, but on steroids, and the interactivity, the ability to really model, predict humans well as you talked about, I think is going to require a combination of companies doing the right thing, regulation and public education. A young girl from Illinois whose abduction was featured on the Netflix true crime series Unsolved Mysteries has been found alive and safe in North Carolina.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Kayla Unbehan was just nine years old when her mother, who did not have custody of her, allegedly took her and went on the run back in July of 2017. Neither Kayla nor her mother, Heather Anbihan, had been seen until this past Saturday when an employee at an Asheville clothing store recognized the two from quote, well-publicized media. The 76th Cannes Film Festival began today in the south of France with stars like Brie Larson, Uma Thurman, El Fanning, and Helen Mirren walking the red carpet.
