I'm Daily Wire, editor-in-chief John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Thursday, November 16th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.

DePap was convicted on charges of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official.
The 43-year-old could get life in prison. Israel hopes that Wednesday's military action
in Gaza will pressure Hamas into finishing a hostage-swap deal. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has more.
According to Israeli officials, the terms of the deal would require Hamas to release 50 women and
children who were abducted during the October 7th terrorist attack. In exchange, roughly the same
number of Palestinian women and children held in Israel would be released. The deal, which is being
coordinated by Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S., would also require a humanitarian pause. Israel would need
to cease all hostilities for several days.
While Hamas confirmed the deal in a broad sense,
they blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for delaying it.
Netanyahu told NBC News that this deal is a result of military pressure
and that he can't give too many details on it just yet.
I can say that we weren't close at all until we started the ground operation.
In fact, we heard that there's an impending deal of this kind or of that kind,
and then we learned that it was all hoax.
It was nothing.
But the middle we started the ground operation, things began to change.
Is there a potential deal? Mr. Prime Minister? Is there a potential deal?
There could be, but I think the less I say about it, the more I'll increase the chances that it materializes.

Santos called the report a politicized smear while also confirming he would not seek a second term.
He did, however, indicate that he was likely to stay in office through the end of his term.
Meanwhile, a renewed effort to expel the controversial congressman from the House has gained momentum.
The House may vote on the expulsion of Santos after the Thanksgiving holiday.
