Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm Daily Wire editor-in-chief John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Thursday, September 12th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. Former President Trump may have lost some ground in both Georgia and North Carolina. The revelation comes as the former president says he will not participate in another debate. Daily Wire senior editor, Cabot Phillips reports. The latest Fox News power rankings show Harris with a slight edge in those two states, giving her a slight lead in the overall forecast. Despite that shift, the race remains highly competitive with six toss-up states holding a combined

Both candidates are still locked in a tight national race as Election Day approaches. In a speech earlier today, Attorney General Merrick Garland condemned what he described as dangerous and outrageous attacks on Justice Department personnel. While speaking to his employees, Garland praised the ability of DOJ workers to remain dedicated amid what he said is an escalation in threats. Here's Garland.
Starting point is 00:01:09 The way you do that work makes clear that the public servants of the Department of Justice do not bend to politics and that they will not break under pressure. Meanwhile, former President Trump continues to slam the Biden-D-O-J as being politically weaponized against him. The former president is facing several cases, two of which are federal. Harvey Weinstein has been indicted on new charges by a Manhattan grand jury ahead of his upcoming sex crimes trial. Prosecutors haven't revealed specifics, but Weinstein's attorney suggests the new indictment involves serious felony charges from multiple accusers. Weinstein, who is currently in the hospital after an emergency heart surgery, is expected to face arraignment if his health allows. The new indictment adds to the legal challenges Weinstein faces following his overturned conviction earlier this year.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Time magazine issued a debate-related correction today. The publication walked back their initial false rating for Trump's debate night claim that Harris supported funding gender transitions for illegal aliens. Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison. This is a radical left liberal that would do this. Daily Wire reporter Amanda Presta Jacamo has more. Trump's comments refer to a questionnaire Harris filled out for the ACLU during her ill-fated 2020 presidential campaign. She was asked if she would take executive action as president to ensure transgender and
Starting point is 00:02:39 non-binary individuals who relied on taxpayer-funded medical care, including those in prison and immigration detention, would have access to transgender medical treatment, including surgeries. Harris answered, yes. Police responded to a bomb-threat. threat in Springfield, Ohio this morning. The threat comes as the city has been thrust into the national spotlight by a discussion about Haitian immigrants during Tuesday's presidential debate. The city commission office says it was sent via email to multiple agencies and media outlets.
Starting point is 00:03:10 No bomb has been located, but police continue to investigate the source of the threat. NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban resigned today amid a federal corruption probe. Daily Wire's senior editor Ash Short has the latest. Caban, who led the department for over a year, stated that the ongoing investigation had become a distraction, making it impossible to focus on the NYPD's crucial work. Mayor Eric Adams accepted Caban's resignation today, naming former FBI official Tom Donlin as interim commissioner. The probe, which included raids on Caban's home, has not resulted in any charges against him, but he vowed to fully cooperate with authorities.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Caban's resignation comes just one day after the New York Post revealed one of the police commissioner's top aides was linked to the Chinese Communist Party. And John Bon Jovi helped persuade a distraught woman to climb off a dangerous ledge on a Nashville bridge earlier this week. Police say Bon Jovi was filming a music video on John Sagan Thaler Pedestrian Bridge Tuesday when surveillance footage captured him and another person approaching a woman perched precariously near the edge of the bridge. The two appear to talk for about a minute after which Bon Jovi assists the woman in climbing back over the railing. The two embrace briefly, then are joined by others and walk safely off the bridge. According to Nashville Metro PD,
