Voters in several states choose candidates in races that could reshape the national landscape. South Carolina and President Trump need a leader who's tough, principled, and will fight to advance our conservative values in Washington. I'm Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley with Georgia Howl. It's Wednesday, August 12th. This is Morning Wire.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Newly released text messages from Dr. Fauci's phone indicate experts had real concerns about the vaccination. on pregnant women, but still encouraged them to get the jab. We would have had 124 miscarriages out of 127 of the women who got the injection in the first or second trimesters. That's an 82% miscarriage rate. And Spanish citizens brace amid rumors of a second wave of invaders from Morocco as the Spanish government vows to send every one of them back home. They're arriving on our shores at the expense of the European taxpayer, who is frankly sick of Thanks for waking up with Morning Wire. Stay tuned.
Starting point is 00:01:41 We have the news you need to know. Key primaries took place yesterday in several states, including Wisconsin and South Carolina. Joining us with the latest is Cabot Phillips, host of Wired Inn and our resident election nerd. So a lot on the line yesterday with voters taking to the polls and some very much coveted seats in the balance. The dust is settling now. So where do things stand? So let's start with the highest profile race for Republicans. That was down in South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:02:09 And the special primary election to replace the late Senator Lindsey Graham, Darlene Graham, that was Lindsay's sister, came in first place. She was followed by former Congressman Ralph Norman. Because neither got to 50 percent, though, the two will face off in a runoff election on August 25th. Darlene had the endorsement of President Trump, and there is a good chance we're going to see him on the ground in South Carolina in the coming weeks. And we know for sure that this runoff is going to draw millions of dollars in spending for both campaigns. Elsewhere on the GOP side, former NFL broadcaster and one-time guest host of
Starting point is 00:02:39 Morning Wire, Michelle Tofoya, came out on top in the Minnesota Senate primary. Over in Wisconsin, Michael Alfonso won the Republican primary in the state's 7th Congressional District. That election was a particular interest because Alfonso is the son of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and at just 26 years old, he would be the youngest member of Congress. He is in a deep red district, so the odds look very good for him in November. And speaking of Wisconsin, let's jump over to the Democratic primary for governor there. coming in self-avowed socialist Francesca Hong was expected to cruise to victory. She was up 30, even 40 points in polls, and betting markets had her as a 20-to-one favorite.
Starting point is 00:03:18 But at the time of this recording, the race is still too close to call. Republicans I've spoken to in the state are hopeful that Hong does ultimately prevail. They're confident she'd be much easier to beat come November. But we're going to have to wait a little longer to find out. That was the big shock, though, for the evening. Again, we thought that race would be a blowout in Hong's favor. Again, lots on the line in several of these races. Now, turning to the White House, while all of this was happening, a huge report broke out that the president was apparently facing a very serious threat from Iran while he was in Turkey.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Can you walk us through what happened? Yeah, this is a major report from the Washington Post. So back in early July, President Trump was wrapping up the NATO summit, while at the same time hostilities were just starting to resume again between the U.S. and Iran. So pretty bad timing, considering that Turkey obviously shares a border with Iran. Trump had flown there on his brand new Katari donated 747, but that morning he announced on Truth Social that he would fly home on the quote former Air Force One for old time's sake. And cameras even recorded him boarding that plane. But according to this post report, minutes after he was seen boarding the plane, he was then escorted out using an airport catering truck that had been raised up to the side of the aircraft.
Starting point is 00:04:25 That truck then drove him across the tarmac to a smaller military jet, which then flew him to England. Meanwhile, Air Force One took off as a decoy with the press corps and even some wide. White House staffers completely unaware that Trump was not flying with them. There were even reports of certain officials and handlers going through the plane telling reporters to keep the shades on the window pulled down. The two planes landed in England within minutes of each other, and President Trump then walked down the Air Force one tarmac after boarding, presumably using similar methods, as if nothing had happened.
Starting point is 00:04:55 So why did the Secret Service feel the need to take all of those precautions? So the Post reports at this operation was triggered by what the Secret Service believed to be a credible Iranian assassination threat against the president. But the U.S. security officials were not willing to tell the outlet anything beyond that. But it is important to remember the context here. The president was preparing to take off just a few hundred miles away from the Iranian border, just as, again, the fighting was resuming. And Iran does still have hundreds of surface-air missiles that could have struck the plane
Starting point is 00:05:22 if proper precautions were not taken. And also, it's worth pointing out these drastic measures are not unprecedented for the Secret Service. President Clinton used an almost identical decoy maneuver, flying to Pakistan back in 2000. All crazy stuff. On a lighter note, before we let you go, how did the president spend his Tuesday in Ohio? Yeah, the president attended the final day
Starting point is 00:05:43 of the inaugural Patriot Games in Geneva, Ohio, on Tuesday. The Patriot games consist of 123 high school athletes 14 to 17 years old, include one male and one female participant from all 50 states and then a few U.S. territories as well. These student athletes competed in everything from the presidential fitness test to military-style obstacle courses
Starting point is 00:06:01 and the two champions split $250,000 in college scholarships. The event was being put on by Freedom 250, which is the same White House-backed nonprofit that put together the July UFC event. If anybody at home did not catch the games live on ESPN, there will be a one-hour recap special airing Thursday night on ABC that I, for one, will be tuning in for very cool stuff.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Well, Kavana, as always, thanks so much for reporting. Absolutely. August is the Sunday of summer, and I don't know about you, but it also feels like a reset. Vacations are over, kids are back to school, schedules get busy again. It's usually the time that we all say,

A first batch of text messages from Dr. Anthony Fauci's government phone has been made public now, revealing that he had private concerns about the vaccine. Here with the details is Daily Wire reporter Amanda Prestajakamo. So Amanda, these text messages shine a new light on Fauci's private thoughts on the vaccine,
Starting point is 00:09:07 specifically when it came to pregnant women. So what exactly did he say and why was there so much blowback? Well, in these messages, we see Fauci's. Fauci expressing privately his concern about pregnant women taking the COVID shot and specifically this potential risk of miscarriage. In January 2021, Fauci spoke to then-surgeon General Vithec, Murthy, and the leader of the CDC, and he wrote that the second dose of the COVID shot could theoretically be associated with miscarriage in the first trimester.
Starting point is 00:09:36 In another message, we have Murphy expressing his concerns about this. He says, quote, I've been hearing concern about the mRNA causing mutations and the developing fetus as well. And a day later, Murthy flags an announcement from the World Health Organization that tells pregnant women to avoid the Moderna COVID shot. These messages were released earlier this week by Republican senators Ron Johnson and Rand Paul. There are apparently tens of thousands of text messages and hundreds of voicemails. So far, we've only seen fewer than a dozen of these text messages, but more are expected to be released soon. And what was the advice that was being given publicly to pregnant women? Were they being told at that time to hold off?
Starting point is 00:10:16 No, and that really is the issue here. So we first saw this with the Fauci diaries, which were released by Rand Paul. In one example, Fauci revealed that he suffered a pulmonary infarction just months after receiving the COVID vaccine, but publicly did not make note of that. You know, that's pretty jarring because it's now been established that myocarditis can be a side effect from these shots, particularly in men. And here, you know, with pregnant women, it's the same disconnect with the public. Here's Fauci pretty much promoting. promoting the vaccine for pregnant women just a week or so after he's discussing these private concerns. The FDA have found thus far, and we've got to be careful, but thus far, no red flags about that, about pregnant women. And again, Fauci makes no mention of a possibility of miscarriage. He does not mention the concerns raised by Murphy about any effects on the developing baby just sort of advances the vaccine. And to be clear, we have much more data now on this. And look, Large studies are not showing that COVID vaccines can significantly increase the risk of miscarriage, but we do know there are obviously other risks and side effects.
Starting point is 00:11:25 And the issue stands here for Fauci. He's privately discussing this unresolved potential risk for pregnant women while publicly sort of telling women to go ahead and get the shot. And it's really not an overstatement to say that Fauci was the most significant voice in shaping public policy. And that's why this has sparked a lot of backlash. We see a lot of responses online from people who were, from women who were pregnant at the time or loved ones of pregnant women who lost out on jobs, who lost out on opportunities because they were hesitant to get this COVID vaccine while pregnant. And, you know, clearly they were having reservations that were shared by Dr. Fauci and other public health officials that we didn't hear about. And in the background of this, we do have the Fauci pardon. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:12 We'll have to see how that all plays out. Now, before you go, Amanda, fill us in on this other major vaccine-related update, this Trump executive order on vaccines. Yes, so this order majorly overhauls the childhood vaccination schedule, and it really moves away from that one-size-fits-all approach. The order spaces out vaccines. It drops some blanket mandates, and it notably separates the MMR vaccine into three separate shots, three separate vaccines. This is going to give parents and doctors a lot more flexibility. Well, I think a lot of parents appreciate having that first. flexibility. Amanda, thanks for reporting. You're welcome. Right now, for a limited time, everyone's part of the Buick team, even you. Buick's employee pricing for you event is on now.

Citizens in a Spanish territory are bracing for another wave of illegal immigrants as more details emerge about what drove the deadly invasion from Morocco. Joining us now with the details is Bev Turner, host of GB News, late show live. Bev, great to have you on. Hi guys. So we've been tracking this saga with you and now there's real fears that we're about to see another surge of Moroccans into Spanish territory. So let's start there. You know, what are we hearing now
Starting point is 00:13:44 about this potential second wave? Well, the update, John, I think is quite interesting, is what has come to light is how many people heard about this through social media. It seems that TikTok particularly played a role in galvanizing that many people. 72,000 men there are thereabouts were believed to have crossed over from Morocco to sweater on the 31st of July. We've all seen the pictures.
Starting point is 00:14:11 It's incredibly shocking. And now, in fact, TikTok and Facebook are collaborating, we understand, with the Spanish authorities, which is not unprecedented, but it's certainly a new direction in terms of following illegal migration, so that they can then inform the Spanish authorities if it looks like a gathering is building via communications online. Now, we've seen some reports that August 15th might be circled for another way, again, this is online like you've just laid out. Does that seem like something that's real? Is that just an internet rumor at this point?
Starting point is 00:14:51 Look, it's a very tempting offer for Moroccan, poor Moroccan people to get across to Spain. The only thing that might offset such an invasion, again, John, is the fact that we understand that from the 72,000 that crossed, Spain is saying the 70,000 have already been taken back to Morocco. Now, that is quite a difficult figure to verify. And frankly, even if 2,000 people have remained in Soweto, that is still problematic to the local people in that very small area. Yeah, indeed. In fact, we've seen reports that maybe a thousand Moroccans were labeled as unaccompanied minors, and they might be heading to mainland Spain.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Have you seen that as well? That is possibly the most shocking element of this story. We're used to seeing here in London. I'm in London at the moment. Here in Europe, we used to see these pictures of these men triumphant arriving on European shores. We have these new what are called mega dinghies that have arrived in the UK this week. We're experiencing beautiful weather here as well with maybe 250 illegal aliens on each dingy. But we've never seen this number of unaccompanied miners arriving in Spain wanting to be looked after.
Starting point is 00:16:08 It raises so many questions. where are their parents? Who are they? How did they swim over there? Because we have to remember, that's the key element. They didn't go on boats to sweater. They swam from Morocco. And so that is a huge responsibility of the Spanish authorities. It's one thing accommodating young men or sending them back. It's something altogether when you're looking out to children. Now, there have been a lot of theories about what drove this initial surge with many people saying there's no way this could have happened without the Moroccan government, at least allowing it or perhaps even enabling it on some level. What are you hearing from your sources?
Starting point is 00:16:45 Similar, actually, Georgia, because there have been some pictures circulating online of what appear to be Moroccan law enforcement agents, let's say, police officers, opening the backs of trucks, with hundreds of men jumping out and heading down to the beach to swim across. So it is very difficult to verify those images. But it is also very hard to imagine that the Moroccan authorities were not aware of 70,000 people over the course of two to three days suddenly arriving on the beach with their swimming trunks on. Like it seems unreasonable to assume that the Moroccan government did not know that this was about to happen. Yeah, well, let's hope that we do not see another surge here and that the Spanish government does actually do what it's promising to do, remove all of the invaders. Bev, thank you so much for joining us.
