I'm Daily Wire, editor-in-chief
John Bickley with guest host
Michelle Tofoya, host of the Michelle Tofoya podcast. It's Friday, May 31st, and this is your
Morning Wire afternoon update. Following the first ever felony conviction of a former president,
Donald Trump held a press conference at Trump Tower this morning. He vowed to appeal what he
called a rigged trial, but he also struck an optimistic note. This is a case where if they can do
this to me, they can do this to anyone. This is far beyond me. This is bigger than Trump. This is
bigger than me. This is bigger than my presidency. And I don't mind because I'm willing to do whatever
I have to do to save our country and to save our Constitution. But we're going to make America
great again. We're going to make it better than ever before. November 5th, remember, November 5th is the
most important day in the history of our country. Thank you very much, everybody.
The Trump campaign announced this morning that it's received 35 million in small dollar donations
in less than 24 hours.
That's a record-breaking hall.
Some big dollar donors have also announced
that they're now giving to Trump's re-election effort,
including Silicon Valley venture capitalist Sean McGuire.
He announced on Twitter that despite voting for Hillary in 2016
and no one in 2020,
the Democrats' lawfare has converted him to Team Trump.
He gave $300,000 following the verdict yesterday.
A House subcommittee investigating the origins of COVID,
COVID-19 wants access to the personal email records of Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
The subcommittee cited concerns over emails released last week from Fauci's former advisor, David Morins.
In those emails, Morins discussed deleting certain information and using private email accounts to avoid Freedom of Information Act requests, noting a, quote, secret back channel between the two.
Fauci has until June 12th to provide the requested information.
Chief Justice John Roberts has respectfully declined an ethics meeting with Senate Democrats.
Daily Wire reporter Tim Pierce has details on the senator's request.
Senate Democrats Dick Durbin and Sheldon White House requested a meeting with Justice Roberts
to discuss Justice Samuel Alito and a recent controversy surrounding flags flown by his wife at their home.
The senators are pressuring Alito to recuse himself from any case before the high court,
that involves January 6th and former President Trump.
Alito himself had already refused congressional requests.
He recuse himself from cases involving Trump.
In his letter, Robert said the court will follow the same procedures they have for 235 years,
which leaves recusal decisions up to individual justices.

President Biden has authorized Ukraine to hit targets inside Russia using weapons supplied by the
U.S. Germany followed the U.S. also granting use of its weapons inside Russia. This is a major
policy shift in the first time a U.S. president has allowed the use of American weapons against
a country that is armed with nuclear weapons. A statement from the Biden administration attempted
to paint the decision as limited only for use for, quote,
counterfire. Boeing CEO and other company executives met with the FAA Thursday to lay out planned
improvements at the airline manufacturer. Daily Wire contributor Matthew Sinovsky has details
of Boeing's new safety plan. The Federal Aviation Administration set a deadline of 90 days for
Boeing to implement a safety plan after an airline door blew off a plane mid-flight.
Issued back in February, that period concluded yesterday, with Boeing presenting a, quote, comprehensive
action plan to the administration. Boeing's safety plans include better employee training, enhanced
safety reporting by employees, less out-of-sequence work, and increasing internal audits.

announced it expects its 2024 revenue to be just shy of $2 billion. Started more than 250 years ago
back in Germany, Birkenstocks were the preferred choice of hippies. But those comfortable souls
have gone mainstream, Birkenstock is now offering several clothes-toe models of its cork-based shoe,
and consumers can't get enough. For the first time ever, sales of Burkinstock's closed-toed shoes,
which include clogs, boots, and sneakers, exceeded sales of its sandals. Burkinstock CEO says sandals
sales were also up double digits and will remain its core item. And as always, socks are optional.
