I'm Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley.
It's Friday, October 4th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
President Trump will return to Georgia today to tour areas damaged by Hurricane Helene.
Trump started a relief fund for those affected by the hurricane, which has already raised
millions of dollars. He will appear alongside the state's governor Brian Kemp. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris
held a campaign rally in Wisconsin Thursday with former congresswoman Liz Cheney. Former President Obama
will campaign for Harris in battleground states before the election, including Pennsylvania.
On Saturday, Trump will return to Butler, Pennsylvania for what is expected to be a massive rally.
It was in Butler where Trump was shot by a would-be assassin back in July. Among the attendees will be
billionaire Elon Musk, who says he wants to show support for the former president. J.D. Vance and many
others will also be there. Daily Wire senior reporter Mary Margaret O'Lehann will be on the ground for
the rally, speaking to attendees and reporting on all the details. A 22-year-old Los Angeles female
has been arrested and charged with murder. Daily Wire Deputy Managing editor Tim Rice has the
details on the case. This is Shanice Dyer's second murder charge, and her case is putting a spotlight
on Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon's
soft-on-crime policies.
Dyer admitted to pulling the trigger
and killing two men as a 17-year-old member
of the Crips gang.
She was set to be tried as an adult
under Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey.
But Gascon sent her case to juvenile court
upon taking office in 2020.
Dyer served just four years for the double murder.
Now she's accused of murder again.
Gascone defended his decision,
citing the need to address racial imbalances
in the justice system.
The DA's office faces
growing backlash as victims' families and law enforcement argue these policies prioritize criminals
over community safety. Voters seem to have had enough of Gascone's criminal reforms. He's facing
former federal prosecutor Nathan Hockman in his reelection did in November. New polling shows
Hawkeman leading Gascone by more than two to one. Former First Lady Melania Trump revealed
Thursday that she is and always has been an abortion supporter. Morning Wire's senior reporter,
Mary Margaret O'Lahan, has the story.
The Guardian published an excerpt from Melania's upcoming book in which she says that it's, quote, imperative to guarantee that women can abort their unborn babies.
These remarks and their timing ahead of the election shocked both Republicans and Democrats, particularly given that Melania typically does not issue political statements and that her husband, former President Trump, appointed the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roeby Wade.
The move has left many religious and pro-life voters feeling betrayed by the Catholic First Lady.

Three former Memphis police officers have been convicted of federal witness tampering in the
2023 beating death of Tyree Nichols.
All three men were acquitted of the more serious charge of violating Nichols' civil rights
by causing his death.
Demetrius Haley, Justin Smith, and Tadarius Bean were found guilty of obstruction charges,
while Haley also faces additional civil rights convictions.
The men will face up to 20 years in prison with a hearing scheduled Monday to determine if they'll be released pending sentencing.
Tyree's mother spoke out after the verdict.
This has been a long journey for our family.
I'm actually in shock right now because I still can't believe all this stuff is going on.
But we're happy that they all have been convicted.
and they have been arrested.
A new study reveals that thousands of wealthy millennials
are leaving high-cost states like California and New York
for southern red states.
The survey by smart asset shows Gen Y households earning over $200,000
are seeking more affordable living in states like Texas and Florida,
where they can buy a home and stretch their dollars.
California saw a net loss of over 9,000 high-earning millennials,
while New York lost more than 4,000.
In contrast, Florida and Texas gained thousands of affluent young adults,
driven by lower costs and a better chance at financial stability.
And some positive news.
Kate Middleton is back to her public duties.
The Prince and Princess of Wales made their first joint appearance since she completed chemotherapy
attending a ceremony at Windsor Castle this week.
The events marked Princess Kate's returned to her royal duties
after undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer earlier this year.
All right.
