It's Tuesday, December 13th, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update.
In a health roundtable Tuesday morning, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced he is requesting
a grand jury investigation into VIII.
vaccines and the companies who made them to look into whether the manufacturers misled Florida citizens.
He also announced the creation of the Public Health Integrity Committee, which he said may act as a
replacement for the CDC. Today, I'm announcing a petition with the Supreme Court of Florida
to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any and all wrongdoing in Florida with respect to COVID-19
vaccines. And that will come with legal processes and to bring legal accountability for those who
committed misconduct. Disgraced crypto founder Sam Bankman-Fried was arrested late Monday evening on charges
of wire fraud, wire fraud conspiracy, securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy, and money laundering.
The charges brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York
follow the bankruptcy of Bankman Freed's
Crypto Trading firm FTX.
Famed football coach Mike Leach passed away Monday night
after suffering a major heart attack Sunday evening.
He was 61 years old and had been the head football coach
at Mississippi State for three years.
Leach's signature air raid offense helped shape college football
over the course of his career.
The Consumer Price Index rose 7.1% between November 2021 and November 22,
showing that inflation has continued to slow amid harsh contractionary policy from the Federal Reserve.
The rate, while historically high, is slower than the previous months.
President Biden said on Tuesday that Americans can expect relief by 2024.

The Department of Energy confirmed on Tuesday that a team from DOE's Livermore Laboratory made history
by achieving fusion ignition.
The department said, quote,
this breakthrough will change the future of clean power
in America's national defense forever.
At the direction of outgoing Republican Governor Doug Deucey,
work crews in Arizona have double-stacked miles of shipping containers
topped with razor wire along the state's eastern boundary with Mexico.
What governor-elect Katie Hobbs intends to do with the makeshift border
after she takes office in January remains unclear.
The FDA says that around 11,000,
COVID tests made by detect incorporated or being recalled because there is an increased likelihood
they'll provide false negatives.
The company says it has not heard of any false negatives yet.
Congressional leaders and the White House are struggling to reach a deal on a massive government
funding package, warning that they almost certainly will need to pass a short-term measure

Colorado Republican Congresswoman Lauren Bobert won her bid for re-election after a tight race,
decided by roughly 550 votes, a recount confirmed on Monday.
The Cambridge Dictionary has recently updated its definition of man and woman
to include people whose gender identity doesn't correspond with their biological sex.
The Department of Energy has fired top nuclear waste official Sam Brinton after multiple cases of alleged
luggage thefts. The DOE said in a statement, Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee.
By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on the matter.
United Airlines is buying at least 100 787-Dreamliner wide-body jets from Boeing.
The Dreamliner will fly United's longest routes.
The airline says it is upgrading its fleet and it will take delivery of up to 700 new planes by 2032.
This is the largest order in Boeing history.
And finally, President Biden threw a celebration of the recently past Respect for Marriage Act at the White House
with thousands of musicians, activists, and at least one draft.
