Starting point is 00:00:02 This is Georgia Howe with Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley. It's Wednesday, September 21st, and this is your Morning Wire afternoon update. The Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate Wednesday by 75 basis points for the third straight month as it tries to get a grip on inflation. The move threatens to slow U.S. economic growth and exacerbate financial pain for millions of households and businesses. President Biden addressed the United Nations on Wednesday covering a number of global challenges. He emphasized the importance of global support for Ukraine.
Starting point is 00:00:35 This war is about extinguishing Ukraine's right to exist as a state, plain and simple. And Ukraine's right to exist as a people. Biden then turned his attention to what he called the growing climate crisis. This is the human cost of climate change. Families are facing impossible choices, choosing which child to feed. We don't have much time. No one seems to doubt it after this past year. New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a civil fraud lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and three of his children, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump.
Starting point is 00:01:15 The complaint demonstrates that Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and to cheat this system. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a mobilization of hundreds of thousands of reservists Wednesday to aid in his invasion of Ukraine. In his seven-minute televised address, he warned that Russia will use whatever means necessary to win in Ukraine. Vanderbilt University Medical Center released a statement Wednesday, saying the hospital is being misrepresented in various social media posts and videos regarding their transgender policies. Daily Wire uncovered a video of Vanderbilt Dr. Ellen Clayton saying there would be consequences. if doctors conscientiously object to participating in trans surgeries or treatments.
Starting point is 00:02:02 If you don't want to do this kind of work, don't work at Vanderbilt. In response to the controversial video, the hospital released a statement saying, quote, our policies allow employees to decline to participate in care they find morally objectionable and do not permit discrimination against employees who choose to do so. This includes employees whose personal or religious beliefs do not support gender-affirming care for transgender persons. Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee released a letter sent to FBI director Christopher Ray this week, claiming agents were moved off of sex abuse cases to pursue political investigations. The letter states that new whistleblowers have come forward, alleging that the Bureau is deliberately manipulating the way case files related to January 6 investigations are maintained,
Starting point is 00:02:47 in order to create a false and misleading narrative that domestic violence extremism is increasing around the country. Congressman Jim Jordan told Fox News that he finds the whistle. Whistleblower's claims, credible. Well, we think he's, we think he's being straightforward. We think he's as honest. We think he's a brave guy for coming forward. And I think the way I view in my mind is they're juicing the numbers and they're cooking the books. The exodus from the Empire State continues.
Starting point is 00:03:10 As a monthly record of 5,833 New Yorkers changed their driver's licenses to Florida last month, according to an analysis of data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. That brought the year's total to over 41,000 New Yorkers leaving the United States. state for the South. Authorities in Minnesota have charged 47 individuals with stealing 250 million from U.S. taxpayers from funds that were meant to go to meals for low-income children during the COVID-19 pandemic. The mayor of Wilmar, Minnesota, slammed the alleged criminals. And the official song of the United States Space Force was revealed Tuesday.
