Hello and welcome to move the line presented by Circus Sports.
Ryan Newton joined here as always by Connor Allen.
Connor, a little bit of award season today, some offensive awards.
What's going on with you?
Yeah, there's some good long shots, I think, especially in the offensive player of the year market.
I think that's pretty fun.
And then MVP, surprisingly a lot of long shots of the last couple years.
So I think there's some other fun ones that we could talk about there too.
We landed on a big picture thought and how to get there a little bit today too.
so it can just start to sync up.
You know, we're getting into football season.
We're starting to get it all together.
Before we kick off,
tell the good folks what they need to know about all the things that Circa has going on.
Some of the stuff that we're going to be a part of,
maybe some stuff that listeners, viewers can be a part of too.
Again, more information on the show notes, but Conner can expand.
Yeah, Circa Sports offering $30 million guaranteed plus in contest this year.
You've got to register in Vegas, but you can use a proxy.
We are going to be flying out there.
We registered for a contest.
the circum millions five against the spread picks each week circuit survivor pick one team just can't
pick them the rest of the season and all you're going to do survive i'm not very good at circuit
survivor so if we do an entry it's probably a donation circa million though i think we could we could
maybe hang uh and they also have like quarterly payouts i know and d moleter uh deep dive over
there they won one of the quarterly ones and it was like 30 grand i think so pretty awesome
contests there and excited to do some content on it and join if annie can land the plane
feel pretty good about our chances
putting together some competitive
just making fun of Andy.
But yeah, excited to be a part of that this year.
Again, more information to show notes.
If you were interested, check it out.
Just great offering, lots of different ways to go about it.
And watching the show in July,
you're interested in speculating on all things football.
It's definitely something that you should probably check out.
So all right, we're to get into like Conner said, MVP,
offensive player of the year, comeback player of the year.
We touch on some offensive rookie year as well.
quarterback is kind of, you know, this is almost like two separate awards now.
We used to have a little bit of like overlap on an MVP.
We haven't had an MVP outside of quarterback positions since Adrian Peterson back in 2012.
Quarterbacks have won 13 straight.
And then kind of shifted at the same time.
Offensive player of the year has basically been a non-quarterback award for at least the last eight years.
Mahomes in 2018 was the last quarterback to win offensive player of the year, even comeback player
the year. Seven and the last eight have gone to quarterback. So, you know, that does help,
I think just kind of, again, doesn't mean that these things are locked, but like, I think
MVP offensive player of the year are kind of at this point, the trends are loud enough.
Like, it's really hard to win the MVP if you're not a quarterback. And I think that they
kind of have made, you know, offensive player de facto best offensive player, not a quarterback.
So I think we probably should be shopping with that mindset. We'll start there. I mean,
last season we had a couple of guys, again, similar to the thought of, you know,
looking at what we did yesterday in the Super Bowl show, a few that were a little bit off
market.
I mean, at this time last year, we weren't sure if Matthew Stafford was playing football again, right?
So the fact that he was, you know, not even on the board at times, and then literally like,
you know, big numbers.
And then Drake May 60 to one in the preseason to win MVP.
And obviously that was a really close contested battle to the end.
But again, if you look at the current odds board, Connor, it is quarterback.
Like you need to get down to like the spot where you're not even sure that like
Kirk Cousins is playing the position or starting any games or many games this year.
And he's basically lying the same as where like Miles Garrett is for instance.
Right.
So this is a quarterback driven award.
What are your thoughts when you look at it now?
Yeah, looking high level at the market.
You mentioned it long shots of one of MVP before.
As you mentioned Drake made Stafford last year.
Lamar when he won was north of 50 to one, Matt Ryan was 75 to 1, Mahomes.
when he started, I believe it was his first year after the Alex Smith injury,
but like one game the previous season,
he won MVP at a long number.
So I think that's generally where I like to live,
at least early on before the season.
Two names that I stood out to me a little bit.
One, I know you're going to like here.
Bo Nix, 35 to 1, just added Jalen Waddle, good team.
As you mentioned, teams win 11 plus games, quarterback award,
added a new weapon, good offensive line, good defense.
So, you know, he doesn't have to play all that well to be somewhat in consideration.
And if he does play really well, then I think he is a good chance.
So I think 35 to 1 is pretty good odds there.
And then one super long shot that I don't even know if I'm really all that convinced on,
but I think it's kind of fun.
Tyler Shug, 100 to 1.
Ooh, okay.
Yeah.
Saints win the division.
He won 9, 10, 11 games.
He played really well.
You had Jordan Tyson.
again, it's a long shot.
It's 100 to 1, but I don't mind it.
He played really well then the last year,
and who knows, you can take it another step forward.
Yeah, I don't hate it.
And I think it's kind of if you're,
I think entering this market at this time of year,
you kind of have to have those thoughts.
Like, it is also kind of bearing the lead.
It's probably the most team-driven war, too.
I think defensive players like that a lot too.
But I think about what happened last year,
like Josh Allen really wasn't in the discussion,
much for, you know, MVP.
But because,
the Patriots were two games ahead of the bills.
And at that point, you can't really make a case for Josh ahead of Drake May even.
So, like, that is the Tyler Shuck case is that it's just, so maybe shake up,
maybe someone at the top is injured or there's just, no one has a great statistical season
or, again, situation where, like, the Patriots win the division and Drake May is just okay.
And Josh is, you know what I mean?
Like, that just kind of muddies the waters a little bit.
I thought you were going to do another name.
Danny?
You think Danny Dimes?
Is that the other one?
I thought Danny Dimes might be your long shot.
I thought that Jane Daniels was an interesting.
I do like that one too.
25 or so on Fandual.
Similar premise.
I think we're both a little bit,
I'll say bullish,
but I think optimistic on the past forward
for the commanders this year.
And again,
very easy to draw a straight line
between them having success
and Jane Daniels
kind of ascending off of what we saw year one.
So again, 25's a little bit light for me
to want to enter
the market now, but I do think it's, you know, as we get a little bit closer and maybe I want to have
something in the portfolio before the season starts, I think Jane Daniels is, I just don't have to tell
myself the story that I would on Tyler Shirk or, you know, Danny Dimes. I know even Bo Necks. I know,
obviously they look different in the market, but I could see him having both the statistical outlier
season, NFC can, you know, they win that division. I don't know, Jayden's offers a ton of ceiling
if we got a full season of Jane.
I wonder if the commanders add anyone that that would help a little bit too,
because right now the receiving court is a little thin.
It's just Gary McLaurin and they were considering adding,
or they drafted that one guy was Antonio Williams, basically.
And they're considering adding digs.
They're considering adding IUC.
I don't think that's going to happen anymore after IUC called Daniels a mama's boy or whatever
on Instagram.
A little weird situation that's in.
so strange NFL receivers are just some of the wildest bunch of people ever so I don't know I think
that they need to add someone though that's kind of part of my reason like hesitation too because I think
Daniels is talented enough I think that they do have a little bit more volatility to bounce back
but I'm a little bit skeptical or worried about what he's throwing to I guess chig is a good
addition to a tight end but he's not going to be moving the needle a ton either way the case for him
is that the rest of the supporting cast isn't great and then they go out and have a great
seasons because he high tides left all ships kind of situation and he was really you know the
the one that was really orchestrating all that so big picture though I agree I would like to see them
get a little bit more dynamic at the skill position player position so anyone at the top if you were
going to fire towards the top I don't think that you would I don't have a ton of interest but again
you know Josh Lamar Burrow Herber all kind of at 10 or shorter Drake Mayma homes stafford all kind of
there a little bit behind and you kind of get in a little bit of Dak, Caleb, Brock Purdy.
Anything up there of interest to you or anyone that you're kind of circling to see,
you know, maybe what happens in the season and we can get a little bit of a bigger number on
them?
No, I generally think that these are all like pretty bad bets, to be honest.
Pretty bad prices, I agree.
Bad prices, bad bets.
I mean, Josh Allen, six to one added DJ Moore, Joe Brady still OC.
I think that that's interesting if you really are intent on laying chalk.
other than that, I think there's actually pretty strong cases
to be made against Lamar, Burrow, Herbert,
maybe not May to an extent, but he's 12 to 1.
So again, I think that there's strong cases
to be made against these guys where there's strong cases
we made against everyone on the board.
But with these short of prices,
it's not something I'm excited about it all.
I agree. I think it is one way I will say, like, for instance,
you know, if you were interested in the Bears this year,
you know, instead of shopping some of like the Bears team stuff
that we were talking about earlier, maybe it's a Caleb MVP ticket.
I would say the same thing.
If you're bullish on Mahomes, he's going to start week one, they're going to be electric
and he's going to be right back in the saddle.
That's again, if that's your belief, I think of Mahomes MVP is probably better than maybe
a chief's future.
Same thing like even the Bengals, for instance.
Like we touched on the Bengals being completely priced out of the wind total market
based off of what our expectations were like basically expecting a top 80th percentile
outcome on the Bengals based off of the market.
I don't know.
Burrow is a palatable pivot at 10 to 1 instead, right?
Like, again, just on its face, I agree with you.
But I think if you're looking to speculate on a team at a team level,
then maybe, again, it's not like a great proxy or a clean proxy,
but it's, you know, it's something.
So kind of with you, big picture.
All right.
Offensive player of the year, as we said, it's a basically been an award that's outside of my
Holmes in 2018 gone to non-quarterbacks, basically the next best thing.
And, you know, Holmes was so good that year.
That was his first year as you were touching on.
You know, and again, kind of looking at it.
And we both had the same thought.
And I did a little bit of research on it because if you're looking at this,
knowing that same way than MVP's price, it takes you a little while on the board to get
to a quarterback.
You basically, I'm just scrolling through it here.
Josh Allen, 80 to 1.
is your first quarterback.
Otherwise, you're looking at basically the first two to three rounds of fantasy drafts.
So I went and looked the last 20 years of offensive player of the year winners,
excluding quarterbacks, which we've had eight of.
So we have a 12 guy sample in the last 20 years.
And I wanted to look at their ADP.
Connor and I landed on the same project, basically.
You do have a couple of outliers.
One of them was last year, a JSN, JSN going off the board, you know,
closing ADP around 20 overall.
Cooper Cup is the great outlier at 48,
so he was like basically a four or five pick
in fantasy drafts that year.
It's insane and then goes out basically
that's the best wide receiver season ever.
Then you have two running backs,
both went 20 overall.
Todd Gurley coming off of a down year.
He goes out and wins offensive player of the year
in his first year with Sean McVey as head coach.
And then Adrian Peterson,
who was coming off of shredding every
knee ligament possible and then just goes out and does just wild AP things otherwise last 20 years
well danian tomlinson third pick in in drafts chris johnson ninth saquan barkley 10th michael thomas
11 de marco marcoe 12 Justin jefferson five five and a half Derek henry seventh it's the mc 2 so for the most part
we should be shopping at the one-two turn really in like the first two rounds um if you're looking
going to go down the board. I don't think you need to get outside of the top 50 of
ADP non-quarterback because we don't have an example of that over the last 20 years.
Is that some of the same stuff that you came to? Yeah, pretty much. And part of the theory
came from thinking about something that a lot of people have been tweeting about, including
I saw Levitant tweet about it, how fantasy markets, I think, are sharper than betting markets
in terms of like season-long props in terms of what's offered out there. And I think that
because of the player of the year is pretty well, as you just laid out, correlated to fantasy ADP and fantasy
scoring is just related to yards, touchdowns, catches, everything in their total output, essentially.
And that's exactly what obvious player of the year is rewarding, is what player is going to have the most total output.
Not really much of a correlation between team wins and player out and this ward either.
So really, I mean, they can't be on the worst team in the league, but as long as they're okay and they're producing a lot and leading the league in their category,
That's what I found was running backs basically had to have 2,000 yards or lead the league,
and then wide receivers all of like 1,800 plus yards, essentially.
So, yeah, love that angle, the fantasy angle.
I think the first two rounds to go shopping.
And there's some pretty good prices.
I don't know what's set out to you.
I found three that are second round fantasy picks, first round fantasy picks,
and I think could absolutely explode this year.
One, Brock Bowers, 80 to 1.
I think is really interesting.
My favorite one.
That is, what a wild price.
If Fernando plays or Kirk's any good, I guess if Kirk's not good, there's going to put Fernando in.
So either way, I think he'll have decent quarterback play.
Have you seen, by the way, that analytics guy on Twitter, Ryan Pagnetti, I believe his name is?
Yeah, he moved up with Underhill, right?
I haven't watched the show, but I know that they got a new show going.
So he, you worked to the Raiders last year.
And apparently a lot of the staff, I guess, stuck around apparently.
Or at least analytics staff.
and he said that they were going to try and get Brock Bowers
to break all tight end receiving records.
That was their goal last year, essentially,
was to just feed him as much as possible.
And so I wouldn't be surprised if we see something similar here.
And if that's the case, 80 to 1 is just in absolutely ludicrous price.
The cool part of why he is also, I think, super viable.
And I was looking at some other names and going through it.
And some of these, you know, don't have other examples.
But I'm looking at you mentioned Josh Allen.
But then I was like, oh, well, I like some of the stuff we're hearing about,
what they're going to do with James Cook in Buffalo.
But he's tied to Josh Allen in a way, right?
So it's really hard if there's a lot of like team success or like, I mean, obviously
James Cook success is going to be on the ground as well as in the air.
But like it's almost like Josh counts against him.
It would be the same thing for like Kenneth Marie where like Mahomes kind of counts against
him.
You know, it's not like Sequin and Devante Smith are correlated in the same way.
But like it's the same thing for like Amman Ra and.
Gibbs in a way. Like, yes, they can go out and to your point lead in their individual
categories. But in terms of like the offense, just kind of lifting and being awesome, those guys
kind of hurt each other a little bit in my opinion. Whereas like it's so clean for Brock Bowers.
There's, you know, Jaylen Naylor is not stealing, you know, any of the media sentiment on,
you know, the Raiders ascending like same thing, like whatever happens to quarterback. There's,
there's really nothing there. The same way that I don't think that like Ashton Genty impacts him at all.
I just think that there's something about that that I think feels a little bit cleaner.
And 80 feels like a really nice price.
Even, you know, 60 at some books that might let you get down a little bit more than the book at 80 will.
Yep.
I totally agree.
I think that's a great look.
And there are also a couple of other running backs in that range that are really interesting.
So like Sequin is 30 to 1.
James Cook is 30 to 1.
Hampton, Chase Brown, Kenneth Walker are all like 50 to 1.
if you have any conviction, any of those,
I personally don't have a ton of conviction any of those.
Another one further down, way further down the board
that I thought was interesting,
then kind of fun,
and it is not necessarily following this rule,
but he's, I guess, two, three turn.
Devontas Smith at like 80 to one,
no A.J. Brown, they bring in Sean Manion,
a Rams, you know, former Rams coordinator.
If he does anything fun and exciting and they just feed Devanta,
he could leave the league in receiving.
I don't think that that's that that's that crazy.
So yeah,
80 to 1,
I don't think it's a terrible price for a guy who's good.
We've seen him be good and seen him dominate targets without AJ Brown.
And now if they have anything relatively normal play calling wise,
could be pretty good.
So I like him in fantasy a lot,
obviously.
And I think 80 to 1 is pretty interesting.
Yeah,
I like they call a little bit safer.
I have two running backs that are,
it's almost like your Tyler Shruck one.
It's like,
I'm not sure I believe it either.
But like in the land of running backs where you aren't,
really sharing a ton of work and could gain some really high leverage touches and be a part
of explosive offenses. There are two running backs that kind of check that box. I don't, I'm not
really worried about anything else in Dallas outside of Javante Williams. It was actually pretty good
last year. And again, that's an explosive offense and he's, you know, Dallas kind of does
some stuff. Javante at 100 to 1. And then a little bit further down, price kind of the same, you know,
thought is Chase Brown is as high as 150.
Kind of the only show in town.
You know, again, I know you have Burrow, you have Chase, you have a bunch that kind of, you
know, goes against what I made the point of earlier with Brock Bowers, but 150 is a pretty
big number.
Yeah.
If you were to just pull ADP versus Price and, but, and just filter to the top three
rounds, he would be the best value almost certainly.
Yeah.
Based on where he's going.
He's a mid-second round pick and is going to catch the ball a ton.
They use him a ton.
He plays in a great offense.
Exactly what you said.
For him to win an award like this,
he'd probably have to run.
He'd probably have to dev.
I don't even know.
How many all-purpose yards?
2000 plus 20,000.
Over 2000 and probably get to like 15 touchdowns,
something like that.
To have a chance.
And then Chase and Higgins would probably have to have a down-ish year
or just a normal year.
Normal year.
Yeah.
And then you'd also probably have to have the Bengals have a,
you know, 13 and 4, you know, 12 and 5 type season.
We're like, yeah, this, this, where it stands out.
Again, part of it's just the timing of these things, too.
Like, that's why these things are fun now to get a little bit in, but it's just the positioning of like,
what's your late season schedule?
Like, should we be like layering that into our analysis?
Because you get an island game late in the season and you're in contention for one of these.
And all of a sudden you, like, you pop up.
We saw that.
How often do we see down the stretch with like May.
Stafford, May, Stafford, who played on an island game, who played last?
Those would fluctuate six points.
It was crazy.
It was nuts.
Yeah, they were flip-popping back and forth, and then Stafford ended up winning it,
even though I think he had a bad performance in the final island game, if I remember correctly.
Yeah.
I think it was a career achievement award.
It was always my reluctancy to back, Craig, in that market, because I just, I thought,
if it was too close, you're just going to have national writers who want to give Stafford a
lifetime achievement award.
they did so it's tough yeah but after that it gets a little tricky but you know i don't know i think
that's the way you should be thinking about is you know some high leverage high upside
round one two three fantasy place and uh you know who is a path to explode and really exceed
expectations there they might deserve your money in the offensive play with the year category
So another, I think this is another market too that I guess it depends if you can find decimal
odds.
Another one too, if you were going to buy low on a guy, maybe you can sell them at another price
on a prediction market.
I think that's somewhat viable here as well because the reality is it's really tough to pick
the winner here.
You know, it's a big, large field market and there's 30 guys that are going to have
awesome seasons.
Yeah.
All right.
Come back player in the year.
We are so reluctant to talk about this during the season because I just don't know what
we're always coming back from and it feels a little bit arbitrary. I do think it's interesting
that we have a prohibitive favorite. And then we also have a situation where I didn't even
realize that seven and the last eight winners are quarterbacks. It is reflected that way in a sense
in the market with Mahomes basically as good as two to one. Jane Daniels right around plus 550 on
Caesars. Kyla Murray's around six to one as well. Those are your top three. Then you get into
Aaron Donald, Micah Parsons. Maybe this is your Danny Dinah.
bet 20 to 1. Any thoughts on comeback player the year?
There's a lot of good candidates. Again, it feels like all the ones you just mentioned,
Danny Dimes, even further down the board, there's a couple of quarterbacks where if they show
out, they're probably in contention to some extent, whether it's to Michael Pennix.
I mean, Pennix was obviously a top draft pick, got injured, played, sucked.
And then now, I mean, if he's good, 50 to 1, it's not the worst thing I've ever heard.
I have no confidence Michael Pennix, so I'm not going to be betting that.
but just saying if you do it's probably not a bad look and that yeah i think all those make
sense if for some reason you have any confidence in leke wils and the dolphin 70 to one i guess i don't
even know if he got qualifies this award he he was good last year what is he what would he be a comeback
because where i lose the plot he was awful as a rookie in second year in tennessee he was just dreadful
and yeah we've talked about the dolphins enough he's not good so just don't bet that's just
Just don't better.
Yeah, it's tough.
I mean, so you see Mahomes as the, you know, pre-favorite here, two to one.
Again, if we get a full season of Mahomes, it feels like a,
in the award to give him.
The Aaron Donald angle is interesting.
15 to one on Rivers, which is shorter than,
whereas, you know, Sears and Fandwell are at.
Again, obviously limits can be a challenge there.
You're not getting a ton of this in the prediction market yet.
I got an interesting one.
All right.
this is a it feels like a g rp super bowl special which is never a good way to to start
well give the charges have a really good year stay healthy things are happening they win
that division they're clicking joe alt 150 to 1 could get some shine as a reason for
why they're playing good because last year the offensive line was such an abysmal uh situation
and alt's been so good when he's been in the lineup now again it's just so hard because
what are we talking about like you can't
can't measure it's just less clean for the media to be like oh yeah joe alt's been awesome but i could
see a drumbeat of of that and again i probably would want more than 150 but i think it's an
interesting name when you're looking at some of the other names around him like zach charbonnet like
arson wentz like what do we talk about like this joe waltz playing football this year and could make
a massive impact i agree with you from a football perspective i just don't think anyone's going to
vote for all your poker phase is so bad i appreciate i'm trying to give me a little bit of that
Nina Kimes or like Nate Tice or something,
the Galaxy brand themselves into, you know,
thinking that this is a good idea and whatever.
They can do whatever they want.
They have their own votes.
But I don't doubt it.
I just, that caught me off guard.
That was a good one.
I like that.
That was funny.
I love that about you.
You can, there's no shot.
Like, you do not hide your face well at all.
I said it and you're just right away.
You're like, what the hell is this guy talking about?
You help me learn the plane politely.
Protector of the Year, Ward.
Is that still a war?
That's actually probably true.
It might pull them out of there as Protector of the Year.
It actually might hurt him.
I don't know.
I don't have preseason odds or Protective the year.
I don't know if we have that up in the show.
Yeah, I don't see that in the odds screen,
but we can request that.
Yeah.
We need protector.
What would he have to be awesome?
Like, and then what, what do they even gauge it?
They're not using the PFS.
That's the problem.
if you were to do any any of these awards this is the one that's the most like what's the
measurement of it right like so this would be the one path for something weird like that because
it's so vague comeback player the year i'm looking at a bunch of guys that played yeah at the end
of last year that had that had injuries and came back like um yeah it's it's it's just a tricky
it's a tricky word this is the one spot where you can get a little bit weird where i'd be okay
being like yeah i'm gonna say this on the show i'm gonna say joel
vault. I love that. That's fun. That's a good one.
Yeah, the rest of them are not, you know, not prices that are super appealing. Like,
I'd much rather go to Brock Bowers for offensive player of the year for a better price than
comeback player of the year. It's like threading a weird needle.
Malik Willis, like, I don't know. Tank Dell, he's actually coming back from something.
Like, I understand what he's coming back from. It's hard for me to kind of draw a line of what
what's this guy coming back from?
Sucking and getting hurt?
Yeah, pretty much.
That's the problem is, didn't that happen to Sam Darnold too?
And then he almost won or did win?
I don't remember if that did.
Because, right, you just...
That was last year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't know.
It's not my favorite award.
So let's go to offensive rookie of the year to wrap up the show.
Again, a lot of your, you know, your first round talents,
kind of here at the top of the board,
Jeremiah Love is your favorite plus 430 on Fandul.
Fernando Mendoza
This high is 450 on Fandul,
Carnell Tate,
as high as 7 to 1.
Jordan Tyson right there as well.
It's 7.1.
Gendarion Price and 9.
It's kind of the top of the board.
Any interest in the top of the board
or you have any names floating down
that you have a little bit of interest in?
I thought the trends are pretty interesting
is that over the last 10 winners,
eight were first round picks.
All eight were top 10 selections.
16 to last 20 winners were top 12 picks.
17 of 20 were first rounders.
It was basically like Dak, Kamara.
I think there's one other outlier in the past 20 years or so that were mid-round picks and kind of crushed it.
I don't really see that happening this year, to be honest.
It feels like the top of the board is significantly better than the rest.
Now, I guess if you're just going by draft capital, I don't know, I guess someone like Kenyon Sadiq,
if you think he comes on and plays really well, someone like that, but that's only 40 to 1 on Fandul's best odds.
I'm more inclined to stick in like the tight Tyson Tate range.
It doesn't look like Mendoza is going to start right away,
so I bet you'll get a better price on that.
There's questions about love, though, too.
Last year, Ted McMillan, I think, was 16 to 1
and then was as high as 25 to 1 throughout the season.
So I think that buying low on some of these top 10 picks throughout the season
could be pretty interesting because all they need is a decent span, I think,
to kind of get going here to be in contention,
especially if anything happens to any of the top guys.
So I think that's pretty interesting.
I don't know if you have any other looks down the board or the top of the board here
because this is a pretty bad rookie class, in my opinion, to be honest.
Yeah, it's pretty bad.
I think we learned a great lesson last year being able to,
if this is a market that you've decided that you want to allocate attention and funds to,
it's something that you should be kind of combing and watching every week
in trying to, you know, forecast whether by a matchup or what you think can happen,
like, oh, this guy's got a tough matchup,
but this guy's got a soccer matchup,
we could see some pretty good fluctuation.
You know, it's a little bit of projection,
but if you have interest in the player anyway,
you could get a little bit of CLV.
We saw last year, like early, Emeka Abuko is awesome, right?
And it looked like, I don't even know how short he got,
but he was like two to one.
It felt like by the time we got to October, felt like a shoe in,
until it wasn't.
Right, so these things can very much fall apart pretty quickly.
So I'm kind of with you because it is such a weak class.
I get, if there was a situation where like,
Carson Beck gets the job from day one.
I can't even really finish that sentence.
But like that would be the only thing that I think is a little bit longer.
He just plays 17 games and like the rest of the guys fall out.
Like that was kind of the edge and angle we played on Carson Swessinger,
defensive rookie the year last year is like,
hey, if none of these top guys really accumulate the sacks that they need,
everyone's kind of falls flat.
Jeremiah Love finds himself in more of a rotational situation than we thought.
and the Cardinals end up winning three, four games.
Mendoza doesn't come in until week seven or eight,
and he's just kind of okay.
You know, the receivers are fine, but not great.
And then all of a sudden, Carson Beck, you know,
was the quarterback for 17 games, even for a three-win team.
Like, that's a path, right?
Like, so I would kind of just, I think the Tate Tyson lemon is probably
where I'd want to swim in right now.
You know, and I think maybe Tyson,
because I think we're both a little bit bullish
on the Saints, even though I think maybe Tate looks like to
projected out maybe a little bit better of a year one
based off of some of the early camp stuff we've seen.
Yeah, I agree there.
Also, I don't know if Tyson's healthy right now.
I guess we'll find out this week if he's even playing, to be honest.
He didn't practice.
I don't think all offseason.
I mean, that could give yourself a bigger number there in a matter of weeks.
So, yeah.
No rush for any of these in particular.
So we'll watch and see.
Again, I think it's definitely something that, like,
if you decide, like I said,
this is something you want to get into.
just pay attention and you'll find some pretty large discrepancies when this market pops up
like you know monday afternoon tuesday or whatever when you know the week settles like you shop
around a little bit early in the season you could find some pretty big gaps between books so
you know give yourself a little bit of optionality different books and keep your eye out for sure
so all right anything else for the folks before we wrap don't think so brock bowers player of
the year. Locking in now.
Either one. Maybe it has to make that an official
play and get in there because it's a pretty good one.
So yeah, I agree. I like it.
All right. Make sure you hit to subscribe before you take off.
Move the line where we listen to podcasts. Move the line on YouTube.
Check out the notes in the show here where the
circa millions survivor, all that stuff,
join Connor and I out there in Vegas here in a matter of weeks.
It's coming up close. So I appreciate it. We'll be back tomorrow.
put some thoughts on the defensive side of the ball.
