Mum's The Word! The Parenting Podcast - 'Is That Your Work, Scrolling Instagram?' | Georgia Jones is joined by her son Cooper

Episode Date: September 13, 2026

This week Georgia Jones hands the co-host chair to a very special guest: her one and only, Cooper, for his first ever appearance on the podcast.Cooper gets into the big stuff: why he's going to be a p...rofessional golfer like Rory McIlroy, beating grown men three times his age off the tee, and the "so mathematical" reason he loves the game. Then it's back to real life: starting Year 4, keeping his two best mates in class, the great mufti-day-versus-non-uniform-day debate, and the after-school pull of the PS5.Plus the lighter stuff: the great orange chocolate scandal, why he only "shuts his eyes" for 50 minutes in the car (definitely not sleeping), Daddy's ill-fated mission to rescue a sunbed a mile out to sea, and Cooper's honest ranking of the most annoying things adults do.And of course, his one rule every grown-up should follow: put the phone down and play.Grab a cuppa and get comfy.A Create Podcast Hosted on Acast. Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome back to another episode of Mums the Word. I'm your host, Georgia Jones, and today I've got a very, very special guest joining me, actually my favourite of all time, because it's my one and only, my little boy, Cooper Alv Jones. So Cooper, he is eight years old, he is my boy, and Danny's, of course, and he is about to start year four in September. He's a keen camper, he's a great golfer, he's a great golfer, he's a well, world-class fussy eater. And it's the first time I've had him on the podcast
Starting point is 00:00:36 and I'm so excited for you all to meet him properly. So grab a cupper, get comfy and let's jump in to a brand new episode of Mum's the Word. Cooper, my little boy. Thanks for joining me on Mummy's podcast. I would love to join you anyway. Oh, it's wonderful having you hear, my darling. Are you okay?
Starting point is 00:01:01 Are you happy in your chair? Yes. Yeah, are you feeling good? Yes, I'm feeling okay. Oh, well that's good. Are you ready for mum me to ask you some questions? Mm-hmm. Okay, shall we start?
Starting point is 00:01:14 Mm-hmm. So, if you had to describe mummy and daddy in one word, what would it be? Also, it would be both the same word, do you reckon? I would say you're slightly different. You're not perfectly the same, but you're near. Neer. So would you, are you going to use the same word to describe us then? Yes. And what would that be? Fantastic. Thanks sweetheart. You're pretty fantastic too. Are we good parents? Yes. Thanks mate. So tell us, when you grow up, now I know the answer to this question. This is quite a new thing, but what do you want to be when you grow up? A famous golfer or a professional. A professional, famous golfer like who? Like Rory McElroy, Tiger Woods, Tommy Fleetwood.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Right, you know your golfers. You know your golfers, don't you? And what's your favourite thing about golf? My favourite thing about golf is that, well, I don't really know it's just... Do you enjoy it? Yeah, you just get to hit a ball with a club and it's so... Mathematat, mathematics... Mathematic...
Starting point is 00:02:25 I don't think I know that word. Mathematical. Mathematical. Mathematical. We got there in the end, darling. Mommy didn't know it either, did she? It's quite mathematical and you like maths, don't you? Is that one of your favourite subjects at school? Yes, sort of. Sort of. What else? Art, P.E. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Spelling, probably. Yeah? You're very good at art, aren't you? Very good at art. I've been on holiday recently, and I'm wondering whether where we went is your favourite place we've ever been on holiday. Definitely crete. Definitely crete. And that's where we've just been, haven't we? Yes. How long did we go for?
Starting point is 00:03:13 Three weeks. I know, it was a long holiday, wasn't it? A long and very fun holiday. It was. What was the fun things that we did on that holiday? The fun things that we did on that holiday were mostly, there were a lot of things in the sea. They were, weren't there? A lot.
Starting point is 00:03:29 And how does mummy feel about the sea? Not so sure. But that didn't stop you, did it? No. I'm very glad that you haven't got Mummy's fear of the sea. But I have got the fear of the roller coasters. You don't mind a roller coaster, do you?
Starting point is 00:03:46 I wouldn't mind the slow one, but the fast ones, I'm a bit scared. Well, I mean, what were you on this weekend at the festival we went to? Oh, that was a... That was like the swingy-jury ride. That wasn't the same as a roller coaster. Still fast, though.
Starting point is 00:04:02 And spinny. Not spot. How many times do you think you went on that fast-spinny swingy chair? About 25 times. Yeah, I think Nana and Grandad needed to rematchage after that because they spent so much money on those swingy chairs. What is your favourite thing to do after school? My favourite thing to do after school is probably come back and do.
Starting point is 00:04:27 go on the PS5. And does Mommy let you go on the PS5 after school? Sometimes, but not every day. Don't tell people my secrets. It's mainly on a morning, isn't it? Yes. And not really on an evening. Sometimes.
Starting point is 00:04:42 On the odd occasion. If you've been an extra good boy. Friday's, some plumes. But what do we not play? Fortnight. Absolutely not. Call of Duty. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Red Dead Dead Deadension. I don't know what that is. I don't know what that is. either? I don't know. Fighting games, any fighting games. Yeah, Roeblocks. Oh. Don't play that, do we? Yeah. What are your favourite games on the PS5? My favourite games on the PS5? Probably Rocket League, FIFA 26. And what's the other? The golfing one? Oh yeah. PGA tall golfing. PGA tall golfing. Obviously, you live on a holiday with mummy and daddy. But apart from that,
Starting point is 00:05:23 what is your favourite things, things to do with mummy and daddy? Probably go out and play some fun games or... You quite like playing football in the garden at the moment, don't you? Yeah, you've really got into that. With Daddy. With Daddy. Yeah. What about with Mummy?
Starting point is 00:05:41 I'm mainly in the kitchen cooking your tea, aren't I? Mainly. I haven't done much things with you this week. This week? Well... Excuse me? This... I think you'll find you've not been with Daddy at all this week
Starting point is 00:05:55 and you've been with Mummy. It's a festival. But you've been camping and we, and we've been at a hotel. Well, yeah, because you're bougie. You're bougie like that. Well, that's because you were with Nana and Granddad, weren't you? And your cousin Adam? Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:14 And what was Mummy and Auntie Lulu doing? You were camping. We were camping. We were camping. Booty camping, yeah. I suppose I'm a bit boogey as well then, aren't I? But I don't think you'd have been. enjoyed camping all that much at that festival because it was very loud, it was very bright.
Starting point is 00:06:32 I didn't really care about that. Do you not? Would you have liked to have camped? I would have if it was all of us together. Yeah, well it would have been. It wouldn't just be you on your own in the tent, would it? It wouldn't be very good parenting. No. Me on my own in the tent. You don't want that, do we? No.
Starting point is 00:06:49 So, Coobes, this September. What are you going to be starting? School. School. How are you feeling? Okay. Yeah? Not as scared. Not as scared. No, I think the older you're getting, you're getting a bit better at school, aren't you? Also because I know I have a really nice teacher.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Teacher. You've got a man for the first time? Yes, the first time. Yeah, and what's your teacher going to be called? Mr Conley. I'm glad you remembered because I'd forgotten. Because what happens in year four that's different to the other years before that? What happens?
Starting point is 00:07:23 You get to meet your new teacher Oh, have you met him? Yeah. Oh, I didn't realize you'd met him. We meet our teacher every year when we change to a different year. We meet our new teacher. Yeah. And have a day with them whilst the other class goes to our classroom.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Oh, so did you swap classrooms? Yes. So have you seen your new classroom as well? Yes. This is fabulous parenting for a mummy because I didn't have any idea on this. I have ordered you a new uniform now. So we just need to go and get your shoes Your shoes are the correct size after this podcast, don't we?
Starting point is 00:07:59 Yeah, they're okay. Well, actually, your school shoes are okay because you wore them at the festival all weekend. Oh, they're a bit dirty. They're very dirty, very smelly. A bit too muddy. A bit too muddy, yeah. But what else happens with your class in year four?
Starting point is 00:08:14 Different people went into different classes. Yeah, so your class got split up, didn't it? But luckily I got to stay with best. Two. Your best two friends. And the good thing is that I sit next to Archie and Leo. Do you? Yes.
Starting point is 00:08:30 You got to choose. Did you? Yes. Oh, that's amazing. I don't get why. But I don't think he knew we were best friends. Well, it might be because you're a bit older and they're hoping that you don't mess about as much as if you were really little. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:43 They wouldn't put us together if they did that. No. Well, that's good. So it's good that you got with your besties. So you're happy about that, are you? Yeah. Yeah, well, that's really good. What do you boys love doing together?
Starting point is 00:08:58 What are your favorite things to do together as best mates? I would say playing football, playing some fun games. And do you get to hang about in class a lot, or is it more you've got to be? We go in class more than we come outside. Yeah. But we sometimes play some fun games in class. It's not so often, but it's... Occasionally.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Yes. Especially on like last day of term and stuff like that. Yeah, you get to have Mofty Day and play it definitely get to play at least one game. Yeah. You know when Mummy was little, it wasn't called Mofty Day, it was called non-uniform Day. I'd never heard. That makes more sense. It does, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:09:36 Yes. Yeah. Muffly Day. I know I'd never heard of that before you started school. I think it might be a southern thing. So is there anything you're feeling a little bit nervous about starting school? Or are you feeling all right? Not feeling as worried as I was turned from year two to year three.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Yeah. But year three was fun, so I'm not, I'm thinking this might be, it's either fun or it's either okay. Okay, well, either of those things are pretty good, considering it's school, isn't it? Yeah. And if you like your teacher already, well, that's a great start, isn't it? We saw one of your old teachers on the river the other day, and she was, with a boyfriend and she was drinking. It was very funny to see a teacher of yours out at the pool, Bab, and she had brown, dark brown hair.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Dark brown curly, was a little bit of a little bit of a curing. No, not dark brown curly. Dark brown street like yours. Yeah. Yeah, that was, maybe we're saying. That was from reception. Was she from reception? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Oh, okay. Reception. Not the one that went and got pregnant? No, no, no. No. Yeah. Yeah. The helper.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Yeah. Yeah, there you go. Saw her on the river. So if you could be a teacher for the day, what would be the first thing that you'd do? I would probably start the day with spelling. Right. Then I would do some maths.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Mm-hmm. Then we would have playtime. Yeah. Then we would have healthy snack and drinks. Yeah. Do you still have milk? No. What, do you watch News Round in the middle of the day at school?
Starting point is 00:11:26 Yeah, after Playtime, we watch News Round and have snacks. Do you? Yeah. Did you know that Mummy used to watch News Round when she was a little girl? Yeah. It was on TV when I was a little girl. Wow. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Do you feel like NewsRound is somewhere where you learn lots of information? I wouldn't say it's very, I wouldn't say it's a lot of information, but it's sometimes nice to know that that happened. Yeah, things about the world. I know you sometimes come on and say something to me. I'm like, how on earth do you know that? And you go, oh, it's because we watch news around. So, let's talk about golf.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Golf. Should we talk about golf? Golf, yeah. So I've spoken about you and Daddy's Golf days on this podcast before. In depth. What do you love most about? going and playing golf with daddy? Is it spending time with him or is it beating him?
Starting point is 00:12:27 Probably having fun and a bit of beating him. A bit of beating him. Or losing, I don't. It's okay, but. You're getting quite good though, aren't you? What was your handicap that you were playing? My handicap was, I was playing with five people of a handicap with a 15. That was very good, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:47 And I came seconded in both around. And how old were the people you were playing with? At least over 60. Yeah, because who was it? It was my, it was granddad and... His mates. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:01 And then Karen. Karen, yeah. Yeah. So granddad, two of his friends and Karen. Yeah. Then you came second. Yes. Who won?
Starting point is 00:13:12 Was it granddad? No. It wasn't. Karen won the first one. And I came second. against George. Three girl men beaten by a child and a woman. That's wonderful.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Can you remember your best ever shot? I think you did a really good one. I've done 151 before. What does that mean? I've hit, I've heard, my furthest drive was 151 yards. Right, okay. And I'm almost, I think the highest you can get on my club that I'm using is 170, I think.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Wow. Close to the limit. Have you ever got a birdie? Yes. Have you ever got a hole in one? No. Do you know what I think? I think you're better at distance.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Yes. Working out distances than mummy is. Because I wouldn't know how far 150 yards was. It's pretty far. Is it? Yeah. Well, when we're walking down the street later, do you want to try and show me if you point to a shop?
Starting point is 00:14:11 Yeah. Yeah, and you can tell me. It's about Grandad's driveway about, his driveway and then a bit. No, his driveway, that's how long... Granddad's got quite a long driveway, hasn't it? It's like up to the gates and then a bit more of the driveway. It's up to the gates and then the road.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Yeah. I got, yeah. So do you think you're going to be better than Daddy soon then? Or are you already better than Daddy? I'm close. You're close. His furthest drive was 131, yeah, so I'm not going to be that soon. Okay. I haven't got up to a 200 yet.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Well, you're only little. So your daddy's a big grown adult, isn't he? Yeah. When I'm the same age as him, I'd be better than him when he was that age. Well, you're probably going to be a pro by that point, aren't you? Yes. Because you'll be 40. 40.
Starting point is 00:15:02 If you're not a pro by 40, I think it's probably time to give up. Another 36 years and then I'll be pro. No, not 36. 36, yeah. You're 8? Oh, I mean 32. 32, not 36. Don't say you good at math and then do that live on.
Starting point is 00:15:17 on mum's the word, pardon. I am good math, I'm joking. I have done 89,000 plus some other thousand. What? Sums? Yeah. Oh yeah, you like your long multiplication, don't you? The massive ones.
Starting point is 00:15:35 I can't do them. You know that, don't you? Yes, I do. So, also this year, we went camping, didn't we? Remember, we went camping with all of Mummy's friends. Yes. And all of their children. Six-hour drive.
Starting point is 00:15:50 It was a six-hour drive. It also took six hours to get back from Nan and Grandad's to here because the traffic was terrible. It was, wasn't it? The traffic added another hour onto the thing. Absolutely not. That Coops. He arrived at seven something. You're a very good traveller though, considering you've always been very travel-sick.
Starting point is 00:16:09 What do we not do in the car? Don't watch screens. Yeah. Well, I can look at the Saturn Ave, but I don't watch the entire Saturn Ave the entire way. No. You like a little sleep in the car, even though you pretend you haven't ever slept in the car. Well, I have slept, but I just sometimes don't sleep and I just shut my eyes. No, you don't. Yes, sometimes.
Starting point is 00:16:28 No, because you don't just keep your eyes closed for three hours, do you? Sometimes I just keep my eyes closed for at least 50 minutes. Right, okay. So not asleep, just your eyes are closed. Exactly. So I'm still awake. Okay, but your eyes are shut. Just looks like I'm sleeping. It's funny because that dribble coming out of your mouth says different.
Starting point is 00:16:52 No, I'm joking. When have I ever dribbled? You haven't actually. You do sleep in a very funny position. I have actually dribbled. Have you? In football, dribbling the ball. Aha, very good.
Starting point is 00:17:05 What did you like most about that camping trip? It was really good fun, wasn't it? It had such a good time. I don't actually know. Probably the roasting marshmallows. Oh, you did like that. Oh, he had a good marshmallow brown last night. made a really good, oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Brownie was marshmallow curled off and top. At the pub? Yes. Yeah. So you did that over a campfire, didn't you? Back before we weren't allowed to do campfires. Who's the best? Mine or the other than four people.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Who do you think was the best? But what did you put your marshmallow in between? Did you do? Yes, I made a small. A small? Did I? Yeah, I think you did. With chocolate digestive biscuits?
Starting point is 00:17:48 Oh, no, I didn't do that. I didn't do that. Oh, did you not? It was orange chocolate. Oh. Yeah, I'm not a fan of it. Me neither. No, thanks. Why would you make orange chocolate if it's just chocolate that tastes like orange?
Starting point is 00:18:02 Why would you make orange chocolate, darling? It's just a terrible flavour. It's just orange. It's just not nice. No. No, thanks. Tell everyone what you just had before this podcast. Uh, donut.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Absolutely massive doughnuts. I'm probably not bouncing off the walls because it was covered in sugar. You mean a lot of sweet treats this holidays, haven't you? Especially at Nana and Grandad's. Remember a couple of months ago we had Tom Letisier from Elaine's Regent Park on the podcast. Well, we've got some exciting news. Next up, we're welcoming another teacher, Trish, head of early years at Elaine's Hampstead. And this is your chance to ask an.
Starting point is 00:18:48 early years expert, anything you've ever wanted to know. Thinking about nursery or reception for your little one, wondering when the right time to start is or what those first years at school should actually look like. Curious what makes a school the right fit for a two, three or four year old. Whatever your burning question is, now's the time to ask. So fire us a message on at Mum's the Word underscore pod on socials and we'll put your questions to Trish at Elaine's Hampstead. A school for ages 2 to 18 built around simple ideas, helping every child become all they can be.
Starting point is 00:19:24 So what did you enjoy? So you liked doing the marshmallows. What about? Yes, about the swimming, swimming in the river. Yeah. The most scariest poles that I found a bone in the river. Oh. I found a bone on the rocks.
Starting point is 00:19:40 I think it was probably just... It was a sheep bone. Was it? Isaac picked it up. Oh, God, right, okay. I wouldn't recommend picking up. I wouldn't. No.
Starting point is 00:19:48 I was like, whatever you do, don't touch it might be full of... What, do we need to get you next time you go swimming in a river, though? Water shoes. Yes. Because it hurts. Yeah, and you had to borrow yours of Fante Sophie, didn't you? Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:02 She wasn't technically going that far as... She wasn't going as far as us. No. We would have carried on the river if you didn't stop us. Well, I mean, you can only go so far down a river before it might get a little bit dangerous. Before it goes into the sea. Yeah. I think you were aware.
Starting point is 00:20:17 quite a way off the sea, but yes. And then remember what we did on the day we went home? You remember? We went paddling in kayak. Yes, went to Lake Windermere. I tried, I raced you with. You did race me and who won? I bet if I was, no, you did not.
Starting point is 00:20:35 No, you did not. Champion. No? No? Okay, well, if you say so. Who was it? Who was I with? Daddy?
Starting point is 00:20:46 Yes. And who were you with? I was with Dan. Dan? Yeah. And you two won. Oh, well done. If I was by myself, if I was against one of the kids, I would have won so fairly.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Would you? Have you seen my paddling? Is it good? I thought you saw it on holiday. Very good. It was very good. Actually, yeah, because we paddles across from one beach to another beach. I had to stop because my arms were...
Starting point is 00:21:16 Did you see me? you with Lisa? I did, yeah. I just came back without stopping. I know you did. Well, do you know what? I was really proud of you for that because mummy was in with Daddy, wasn't I?
Starting point is 00:21:28 And me and Daddy were both paddling. Yeah. And I was exhausted by the time I got to the island. And you were just with... I was with Pat. You were with Leon. Leon and Pat doing the weight... And you managed to get all the way across.
Starting point is 00:21:43 I went on the foil, went back to the... the same spot that was like quite far out. Yeah. A few, like a hundred metres out. Yeah. And then paddled all the way back with no one in with me. And what happened to Daddy in the Sea?
Starting point is 00:22:00 Danny McGee, who got cramp in the sea. Danny McGee got cramp in the sea. Yep. What? What? And then what happened when he got cramp in the sea? He had to get onto these rocks because he couldn't move his rat, His leg.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Which one was it? I don't know which one it was. His leg and then he tried moving the other leg. And then he started getting tired when the boat drove back to the island. Yeah. He thought Pat was on it. So what did?
Starting point is 00:22:32 He had to get rescued, didn't he? Yes. And cut himself on the rocks. Cut himself on the rocks. Got a cramp in the sea and had to be rescued by the boat. Yes. So what's the moral of that story? The moral of story.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Don't come, don't go out. Hang on. I don't get why he still didn't call the boat instead to get the thing when it was past the boys. Well, what happened? Because the reason Daddy went swimming out in the first place was because what was out in the sea, do you remember what had flown out into the sea and the wind?
Starting point is 00:23:04 Yeah, the bed. The bed, sunbed had flown out. But it was floating out to sea. Well, I know. Why wouldn't he call the boat? Exactly, Cooper. That would have been the sensible thing to do. That would have been the most sensible thing to do.
Starting point is 00:23:15 So it's a bit silly of Daddy really, wasn't it? Yeah, I don't get why you'd do that. You had a 90-minute massage as well. It had a 90-minute massage and then decided to go and swim a mile out to sea to rescue a sun lounger and then ended up having to be rescued. Silly silly, silly daddy. He didn't even rescue the thing. He didn't.
Starting point is 00:23:36 He didn't. He didn't rescue it. No, he didn't. Just have to be rescued himself. He just has to be rescued. Right, Cooper. Oh, if you could go a cat. Jumping anywhere in the world.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Where would you go? Oof. I would probably go somewhere. Tough question, that, isn't it? Hmm. It's actually really hard. You'd want to go somewhere warm? I'd want to go somewhere warm.
Starting point is 00:24:02 Like a forest, but not as, but not like really dark foresty forest. Yeah. Like the campsite where there's like, there were roads and you, Like a village thing Yeah Where there aren't many trees But there aren't many trees But there are quite a lot
Starting point is 00:24:23 Yeah And they're paths through the trees So not too scary Not like you're in the middle of nowhere Not like it's really dark And there's nowhere to camp And I know what you would love to do On a night time
Starting point is 00:24:33 Can you think of what you would love to do Especially with Daddy Because you and Daddy do it quite a lot And you do it on holiday at night When you lay on your... Stargazing Stargazing So you'd probably like to do that.
Starting point is 00:24:44 to go somewhere where you can star gates, wouldn't you? Yeah, that's probably going to be like the forest because, yeah, the forest is the best place to go. Where there's no light pollution. Yes, and it's not that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Yeah. Should we do it? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Yeah. Right. Cooper rules for adults. If you were in charge today, right now, what would be one rule that all grown-ups would have to follow. Oof, I wouldn't make it too harsh. Oh, thanks, Coops. Appreciate that. So you could do some things that you sometimes mostly do?
Starting point is 00:25:24 Yeah. How about, um... Let me think. Oh, it's a hard one. It's a hard one. I have harsh questions. That's all right. You can say something harsh. I won't be upset.
Starting point is 00:25:39 It's not going to happen. Will you not? No. One rule, you have to play with the kids and not just ignore them and go on your phones and do work If they say I want to play with you You have to play with them Oh yes, listen
Starting point is 00:25:55 Sometimes when we just have to do a work That's the problem That's exactly why I know, okay That's why the rule Well I promise you one day we can do that rule Yesterday? A yes day
Starting point is 00:26:07 Yes We do still need to do that I have promised you a yes day haven't I? Yes. But there has to be a money limit. A money limit over a million pounds. No, I don't have a million pounds for spending, so he's at.
Starting point is 00:26:21 You've had quite a lot, but that's not the most in the world. So there has to be a money limit. There has to be a distance limit. So it's not like you can't go... I can't go on screens the entire day. No. I wouldn't do that anyway. No.
Starting point is 00:26:35 I would get a bad headache. You would get a very bad headache. We will do it yesterday. So if somebody says... said to you, what does mummy do all day? What would your answer me? That's a hard question because sometimes you do, you don't normally do something all day. But you do, I don't know, walk all day. Walk all day? Maybe. You do walk a lot. Okay. And if I asked you the same thing about Daddy, what would it be? I don't know what he does. So you don't know what Mommy, oh Daddy does,
Starting point is 00:27:10 All you know is mummy walks all day. No, not really. Not necessarily, I don't say that. I've changed my mind. Okay, go on, let me change your mind to. Something that I don't know. I do something you don't know? Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Do you mean you don't know what my work is? Oh, you do work all day. That's more. I get it now. What work do I do? You do photo shooting? Photoshoots? Yeah, you do that all day.
Starting point is 00:27:42 I do do some photo shoots, yeah? Yes. And I do a bit of this? Yes. Yeah? Is it cool coming in here and seeing mummy do what she does? It's cool sitting in here. Is it?
Starting point is 00:27:53 Yes. Do you like my backdrop? Mm-hmm. Yeah? A lot of mum's the word. A lot of mum's the word. Yeah. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:28:02 When I'm working, what do you think I'm doing? Do you think I'm... I sat in the house all day, though? I think you're sitting the house not ignoring me and just sometimes I sit, sometimes I look at your phone and you're just watching things. I don't. Sometimes I see you too.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I'm not just, well, I'm not just scrolling on Instagram. I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah, you're scrolling on Instagram when I watch you and then you say, no, I'm doing work. I am doing work. Yeah, but you scroll, is that your work scrolling on Instagram. Oh my God, you're absolutely throwing me under the bus here, Newport Jones.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Well, partly because I, I am a content creator so I've got to look on Instagram I've got to do research Yeah Thank you very much Also I do scroll on Instagram Just for fun sometimes as well
Starting point is 00:28:54 Exactly And don't you start Because you love scrolling With me on Instagram And watching funny videos But then sometimes you say I'm doing work here Move out away everybody
Starting point is 00:29:07 You're a cheeky chops you are How much TV or as well screen time Do you think is in a reasonable amount For you to have a day per day One hour One hour Oh that's pretty reasonable that sweetheart
Starting point is 00:29:27 One hour or one and a half One and a quarter and a half One and a quarter and a half One and a half hours One and a quarter and a bit Quarter and a bit So 25 one hour 25 One hour 25.
Starting point is 00:29:42 Yeah. Okay, that's very specific. Okay. I would say two hours would be a bit. And what do you think is a reasonable bedtime for an eight-year-old? Nine. Nine. Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:55 And what time do you go to bed? Eight. Yes. When I should be going to 8.30. No, I don't think you're ready for 8.30 yet. You're not normally asleep by 8.30 anywhere, are you? I always fall asleep at 8.30. It takes ages for me to get to sleep.
Starting point is 00:30:11 I know. But what's your favourite thing to listen to when you go to sleep? I know. There's a few. Oh, gone on then. What are they? I think I know what you're going to. What do you think I'm going to sit?
Starting point is 00:30:22 You're going to say crackling fire. Yeah, on your yourself? Yeah. Yeah. That's always on when I come up. You're fast asleep and you've got your little crackling fire playing with. It's because if I'm trying to get to sleep and I don't feel that tired, I put stories on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:37 If I feel like I just want to try and get to sleep. Yeah. I put the cracking fire on because it helps a lot, yes. Does it calm your little mind down a bit? Really? Oh, that's nice, like camping sheep. And you like reading now at bedtime, don't you? That helps get you to sleep a little bit.
Starting point is 00:30:57 That's why we need to get some more Tom Gates books after this. You like those ones, don't you? I've read five so far, four books. Very good, darling. And in total, I've read six. Very good. Six books in total from the two months. Now, be honest with May, is there anything that you think mummy does that's a bit unfair?
Starting point is 00:31:18 You don't do that much unfair things. I'm quite a cool mum. Daddy sometimes does some fair things. Like what? Like cheats in football. We both wrestle. You like to wrestle? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:31 And then mummy stands there and goes, stop it, somebody's going to get hurt. And then what happens? Step like to there. And what happens? Sometimes I get hurt. sometimes it really is fun. Mm. You boys, you're a bit rough.
Starting point is 00:31:48 So Cooper, we do a section on the podcast where me and Kelsey list our top five things on a certain topic. So what I want you to list are the top five most annoying things that adults do. Oh, wow. Top most five annoying things that I don't do that adults do that adults do. that adults do. Yeah. Stay up at least another hour after children. Okay.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Staying up later than you. Yes. Okay. Being boring sometimes. Being boring when you're doing annoying work. Yeah, okay. But remember, why have we got to work? To get money.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Exactly. And then if we've got... So we can play fun games. Yeah, we can go on a nice holiday. Go to the arcades. I'll go to the arcades. Which we haven't done in it. Mini Golf.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Minigolds. I really want to do mini girls. Okay, we'll put that on the list of things to do. Yep, go on. Work. Next. Oh, yeah, when I ask you to watch me to do something and then you absolutely fail.
Starting point is 00:32:56 And you just, it's like you have five seconds to come over and you take at least one minute. You go like, when I'm like, well, because you go, Mommy watch, Mommy watch, Mommy watch. And I'm right in the middle of something. Yeah, I know. Yeah. I can't watch immediately all the time.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Can I? No. Anything else? I don't know you know. I know what you don't like. You don't like you when I pick you up from school and I go, so what did you do in school today? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:27 Because your answer is always, I don't know. Because I just don't want to say anything. You can't be bothered, can you? No, because I've been playing football, at least the entire afternoon after... After school. When you go to after school club? After school, yeah. Do you like after-school club?
Starting point is 00:33:44 I would, yes, I do when Archie and Leo's there when... Yeah. Leo only goes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. It doesn't go on Fridays. Well, that's three out of five days of the weeks. That's not too bad, is it? Yeah. Good thing he's not here on Monday.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Why? Monday's football club and it takes a... And you have to play in the infant's playgrounds. Oh. And you're not allowed to play football because it's their windows there. Oh, because it's windows? Someone in my school was blaming me on smashing a window with a rock. Really?
Starting point is 00:34:22 Yeah. Well, that's not okay. Well, not, maybe not blaming me, but he was like... Saying it wasn't him? Yeah. He was, everyone saw him do it and then he was saying it was no, it was nowhere else apart from him. That's a bit naughty. But I'm not...
Starting point is 00:34:37 Did you know, was it definitely him? Yes, it was. I saw him do it. I saw him. Did you tell the teacher? Yeah, he literally said, do you dare me to do this? No one said anything, he just threw it at the thing. Well, that's very nasty, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:34:48 You'd never do a thing like that, would you? It actually smashed. But it, no, I wouldn't do that. Good. It smashed, but it didn't fall to pieces. It just was a big window with shatters of things in the window. Pins of glass. Yes, it wasn't, there was nothing on the floor.
Starting point is 00:35:04 It just looked a bit like a cobweb on the window. Oh, yeah. Big cobwebub. Yeah, so it brought up. but didn't shatter to the floor. Yes, it was like inside the glass. I've got a final question for you before it's nearly the end of the podcast.
Starting point is 00:35:19 You have done so well. I'm so proud of you. Thank you. Did you enjoy it? Okay, last question. What's your favourite thing about your mummy? That's an odd question to ask when there's two of you. And daddy?
Starting point is 00:35:35 And daddy, yeah. A favourite thing about you is probably your kisses and cuddle. Oh, thanks, sweetheart. And that you organise so much things. Oh, thanks. I'm good that's gone noticed. Thank you. And Daddy doesn't actually help.
Starting point is 00:35:51 There's much. Sometimes. What's your favorite thing about Daddy? That he's rough and tumble and he plays the football with me. He does. And Daddy's... What? And that he's bought all these electronic things and the PS5,
Starting point is 00:36:15 which isn't actually mine. It's daddy's PS5, isn't it? It's not actually mine. Not actually us. Just realised it has all my games, though. It does. It does. Well, Coupes, it's been a pleasure having you on, my darling.
Starting point is 00:36:28 Thank you. Thank you for coming. Should we go and get your shoe size measured now? Yes. And buy you some new books? Okay, deal. The only problem about what you just said there is that I don't know about my shoes getting sized.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Well, we need to go and get your feet measured. They don't feel like we need sizing. Well, let's just do it just to check, okay? Okay.
