Just stupid boys making basement noise in the basement.
Yeah, yeah.
Hello and welcome to My Mom's Basement presented by 3G and Barstool Sports.
I am your host, Robbie Fox.
And today I have an MMA edition of the show,
kicking off with an interview with the UFC Women's bantamweight champion, Juliana Pena.
Then we will throw it over to a UFC legend, Quentin Rampage Jackson, talking triad combat too.
And then we're going to change gears a little bit and be talking about a wheelchair boxing event for charity with Sir Steve-O Timothy.
And it's not just any wheelchair boxing match.
It's one that Conor McGregor is actually going to be fighting in. You'll get all the details
in this podcast. It is a great one. And before we get into it, let me just remind everybody
about our presenting sponsor, 3Chi. 3Chi is the industry leader in Delta-8 THC products.
All of these products are formulated by a biochemist and made
in the USA with USA grown hemp and three cheese Delta eight is a federally legal version of THC.
It's a more functional alternative to marijuana that gives you an amazing buzz and a great body
feel, but with a much clearer head and a less anxious and paranoia filled high it's available
online at three chi.com. That's the number three, chi.com.
Like I said, vapes, edibles, gummies, drink mixes. Now you could put stuff in a coffee,
tea juices. They say, don't put them in alcohol. They don't recommend mixing that stuff because
like I said, this is psychoactive. It's going to give you a buzz. So please use it responsibly.

now and use that promo code BASEMENT, all caps BASEMENT, you'll take 5% off your purchase.
Hello and welcome back to my mom's basement, ladies and gentlemen. It is Robbie Fox and I
am here with the UFC bantamweight champion of the world. It is Juliana Pena. She's coming off this
bantamweight title and not even two months removed from it. But are you still on cloud nine? You have to be right. I mean, I'm happy. I don't really
have that many complaints when you're the champ. Nothing really pisses you off. So I'm in a good
spot. Has your life changed a ton since winning the title or no? Is it kind of the same routine
with more media obligations? That's exactly what it is. It's it's the it's exactly the same,
but just with more media obligations. Yeah. So what was that night is. It's, it's the, it's exactly the same, but just with
more media obligations. Yeah. So what was that night? Like it's December 12th, you win the title
huge, shocking upset, right? It's the third craziest upset in UFC history. When you go by
the odds, it was, I think the first was Rhonda. The second was GSP and Matt, Sarah. And then the
third is you in the history of the UFC. So can you just take us through like what the emotions were right after you win that title? The emotions for me was validation,
justification for myself. It was something that I knew that I was going to walk away with. I didn't
know if I was going to come away with, you know, one arm or, you know, you know, broken eyeball or
something, but I just knew that I was going to win. So for me, it was a great justification. I was like, you did it old gal. Like we knew we were going to do it
and we finally did it. And so I was just happy for that because I felt like I proved something
to myself and I wasn't, you know, full of beans. And so, um, that was a great thing for me.
And then obviously just the elation of winning and just, you know, being engulfed by
everyone around me that also knew it. And just, I just felt like we were validated that we were
just finally like, it's finally here. You know, we've been doing this for 13 years. So to see
the grind to pay off was just very overwhelming and very emotional. What was your reaction to
seeing, I assume you didn't see
it in real time. But Michael Chiesa, your teammate, like jumping the barricade like a
lunatic to celebrate with you. Like when you eventually saw that, how did you react?
I was so happy. And I can tell you that when Mike wins his belt, and when he gets that strap right
around his waist, I will equally be jumping the barricade and storming the cage as well.
You know, we've been doing this. We started within one week of each other.
Mike started one week before I did. And so it's it's so cool to see it come full circle.
And and, you know, that's my brother in arms and and we go to war together.
And so it was just so awesome to see how happy he was for me.
Did you get to celebrate
that night? Or was it kind of like, I have to be a mom tonight? Yes, I have to be a mom. And no,
I didn't get to celebrate that much. I was starving. They didn't have a green room. I went
to a hotel to meet some friends. And that was it. I got stormed like crazy. I was in the same spot for like an hour and a half taking pictures with every single fan.
I didn't turn one away and I was wanting food, but everything was closed.
And since I was on the casino floor, they were literally like, you have to get off of here. There's no children allowed. And so I ended up walking like a mile to my brother's hotel room and we ordered
a pizza and I just, you know, ate some pizza in his room. And then I went back to the hotel and
I slept. Actually, I didn't sleep. I stayed up all night, but I finally got to my hotel room and
put my baby down. And that's kind of how I celebrated. When you're staying up all night,
are you rewatching the victory 100 times?
I feel like that's what I would be doing. I was Yeah, I think I was what I was responding back to text messages. I was rewatching all of the clips from the fight. I was just scouring the
internet with all the stuff that I had just done. So I literally, I think my baby woke up at like
seven and and she was sleeping. She only got a little bit of sleep, but I mean,
we were just like so happy and, and it was hard. It was actually, now that I think about it,
I don't think I slept for like three days straight. Um, I was, yeah, I was just so happy
and I was just, I couldn't sleep actually. So you mentioned the feeling of validation that I knew I
could do this when you won and you had been calling out Amanda Nunez for
literally like five years and it's crazy going back to UFC 200 right was when you wanted the
title shot and then Ronda Rousey kind of got to skip the line when she came back are you almost
as part of you glad that it took this long to get the title shot so you could evolve as a fighter
and she could evolve as a fighter and get where you are. Are you like, no, I would have kicked her ass five years ago. No, I definitely think that too. Um, but I also
think that, you know, I, I wasn't actually considering that until I heard, heard another
perspective and they're like, it had to have been this way because she did so much. And so then once,
you know, it wouldn't have been the same if I would have beat her five years ago. The fact that
she has built up such a resume and has been at this for, you know, six years going unbeaten, six years never had tapped,
six years of just this bolster list of incredible women that she destroyed and dismantled like
Chris Cyborg, Misha Tate, Ronda Rousey, you know, she wouldn't have had that chance to do that if I
would have fought her prior because you know it just wouldn't have
worked out so I think that the timing everything happens for a reason and timing is is very
important and so I'm happy to know that she was able to gain all this success because then it was
great for me too it just made for such a great matchup and the timing was absolutely perfect. So I'm happy that they made me wait now in retrospect. Yeah. From a fan
perspective, it feels like feeding quote unquote, the goat was as big as winning the title. Like
those things kind of go hand in hand where it's like, Oh my God, I can't believe you did that.
The title is a cherry on top, but most people were just like, I can't believe she dethroned
Amanda. It was the fact that it was, you know, who it was that you beating her so I think that is very cool that it lasted that
and it's kind of a full circle thing too you called her out for five years you finally got her
and then you did what you said you were going to do yeah and and I think that that's that's so true
too like when it comes to beating the goat or or beating the champion you have to and they say this
in order to be the champ
you got to beat the champ and you got to beat them decisively and so for me to not only win
but to have beaten her in the way that I did and then just dominate like that I think that that is
the cherry on top for me is that I didn't you know win by a decision or anything like that it was a
straight up ass whooping how much of that ass whooping do you think was mental though, leading into that? Like,
could you put a percentage on it leading into the fight?
90%, 90%, 90% mental because, you know, we both are in great shape. We both have trained very hard
for the fight. We both have, you know, skills in our arsenal that could take anybody out at any
given point in time. But mentally is where I think the fight is won or lost. It's nine, like I mental
fortitude and keeping your mind sharp is very hard in this game, you know, and I think that
she definitely was beaten mentally before the fight. How would you compare her power to the others that you faced in your career?
Because you took some heavy shots.
You were able to take all of them, but you actually got to really experience it.
Yeah, she absolutely punches hard.
She's the hardest hitting woman that I've ever faced.
But the flip side to that is I've stood in the pocket with the best strikers
in the division. I was, um, backing up Jermaine Durand even when I fought her, I, I was backing
up Valentina Shevchenko when I fought her, you know? So I, I think that her power is great,
but so is mine. Is there any desire for you to try to get back that Shevchenko loss on your record?
Or are you like, that's a thing of the past at this point? Both, both.
Jermaine and Valentina.
I've dropped two fights in the last 10 years.
And those two fights, they haunt me
because I was beating them both handedly
right when I screwed the pooch and got caught there.
So that's just, it's heartbreaking.
It still bothers me.
And I absolutely would like my revenge
on both of those fights.
I assume next for you
will probably be an Amanda Nunez rematch though. Yes, I think so. Yeah, that's in the books for me.
Absolutely. Because, you know, there's still people that think that that was a fluke. And so
I just want to go back in there and show them that it was no fluke. Do you think it goes the exact
same way in the second fight? I can't say for sure. You know, I definitely think that it's gonna go in the way
that I get my hand raised no matter what. But to say that it's gonna go exactly the same, I have
no idea. I just know that, you know, when that time comes, I will be absolutely ready. And do
you have a time that you want to get back in the octagon, a summer thing, a fall thing, or are you
kind of just waiting to hear from the UFC? Yeah, so summer is good for me.
If it's good for her, I think that summer would be a great time for us to rematch.
And it kind of just kind of depends on what works for both of us and what makes sense for everyone, for me, for her, for the UFC.
But I would definitely love to fight in the summertime.
Yeah, that's going to be a huge rematch.
I can't wait.
What is your favorite thing that you've gotten to do since becoming champ that maybe you wouldn't have
if you didn't win that fight? Let's see. Your Instagram is like a fun scroll right now because
it's like you with Johnny Knoxville, you with Mario Lopez, you with the Anaheim Ducks. It's
like you doing a bunch of fun stuff. Yes, yes. Actually, I think that going on Ellen was pretty
epic. I don't think I would
have ever had a chance to go on Ellen. I think that that's pretty awesome. And just the amount
of media attention that I've been getting. Actually, Joe Rogan was pretty cool, too.
I think that that was awesome. And yeah, of course, you know, I've always if you go way back
down my scroll list, I have had some awesome pictures with some pretty awesome celebrities.
And so I think that that's pretty epic to be able to to meet these people that I wouldn't have ever got the chance to meet otherwise.
What's the new Rogan compound like? Is it awesome?
It is awesome. Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's wasn't what I was expecting.
I thought that their kitchen was where we were going to be doing the podcast.
And then they took me like around the corner and through this hallway. And
I was like, Oh, this is where we're going. So it was, uh, it was pretty awesome to go in there and
to see it for myself as a fighter, who are your favorite fighters, fellow fighters to watch in
the UFC. So my favorite fighter of all time doesn't fight in the UFC. It's fade or a million
Inko. Um, I am the biggest fan girl of him and I love him.
And then of course- I didn't know that. You should do a press conference in the sweater.
Yeah, I know. I would love to, like a little Christmas sweater, ugly Christmas sweater.
I love Fedor. I think that he's fantastic. And I love watching my training partners fight. I love
watching Mike fight. I love watching Brady, he stand fight. I like watching Terrence
McKinney fight. Um, and of course my training partners, um, from VFS here, Nacho Baja Mondes,
Bilal Muhammad, um, Carlos Hernandez. Uh, I love watching my training partners fight. And I think
that those are the ones that get me the most excited because I train with them every day.
And I see them in the gym every day. Do you ever feel like more nervous watching them fight than you
actually fighting? Of course, yes. I get a pit in my stomach and I just am so like, ah, yeah,
I do. It's hard for me to watch, but I love it. Yeah, of course, you have to. For a while,
it seemed like Kayla Harrison might be signing with the UFC you guys kind of exchanged words a little bit she was at the fight obviously do you think now that it seems
like she's probably staying with the PFL that that was the right move for her um yeah you know it
probably was the right move for her you know I think that you know her being a part of that
million dollar tournament winning it I believe two years in a row, it was just great for her. Hey, if you can go for a third, why not? And then also the level
of competition, there's not really, you know, high caliber girls at that weight division.
So to try to get her girls in her weight, you know, I know that these girls are coming up in
weight just to compete for that million dollars, but're not actually true what does she fight at 155 165 155 155 they're not true 155ers there's not a lot of 155ers out there so
these girls are just coming up and wait for a chance to fight for a million dollars but there's
not really um a big uh deep division as far as um as far as the competition goes so i think that it's great that she gets to um
make a million dollars on girls that are not you know at that that high uh caliber level that she
is so it's it makes sense go go get your money yeah i felt like it made sense too like i think
dana white might have done an interview where he was like nope if she could keep making a million
dollars keep making a million dollars and the media a million dollars. And the media kind of
like trashed him for saying that. But I was like, nah, it kind of makes sense. Like, she's making a
million dollars a year. So why not? Yeah, no, exactly. I mean, make your money go go make go
make it's it's, to me, not rocket scientist, not rocket science, go go make the most money you can
in the easiest way possible. I mean, of course,
that makes sense to me. A huge women's fight that just got announced in the boxing world
is Amanda Serrano versus Katie Taylor. I think it's probably going to be the biggest women's
boxing fight like ever. It's at MSG. Do you have any thoughts on this one? I didn't know that. I
am so such a big fan, I guess, of both women. You know, I commentate on the side
for Combate Americas and Amanda Serrano fought for Combate and I got to see her striking and I was
blown away by how crisp her striking was. I think that she's an incredible athlete and she's also a
nice person. And Katie Taylor, I know is another monster in her division. And so I
definitely think that that's a great fight. That's awesome to know that they booked that. Do you know
when? I think it's in the spring. It's like coming up soon. I was, you know, booked with Jake Paul
and Eddie Hearn, like they're going to be co-promoting it. So it's going to be like a huge,
obviously one of the biggest fights in women's boxing history okay well that is so cool good for her uh good for both of them i think that's a huge
fight it's a great matchup and and and what's exciting for me about that is that amanda serrano
is a beast in the sense that she's literally gone up and down and up and down and fought the who's
who and literally has um made such a gigantic career in fighting in every single
division. I think she's the only woman that could say that she's the champion in like, I don't know,
six divisions. Like that's incredible. And I know that Katie Taylor's probably a bit bigger than
her. So to see that they're coming together and maybe fighting at a catchweight, that's awesome.
That's great news. It's going to be awesome. All right. I got a couple of fun ones before I get you out of here. The first of which is what is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is True Romance.
Oh, what a great one. Yeah. Tarantino's first script. Yeah. Sold it off and made Reservoir Dogs. Yeah.
Yes. I love that movie. It's one of my favorites.
Do you have a favorite fighting movie?
Favorite fighting movie. I think it's the one with Mark Wahlberg, the fighter.
Oh, yeah.
Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.
Great movie.
Yeah.
Yes, that's a good one.
I like that one.
Yeah, that's really good as well.
What is your favorite TV show?
My favorite TV show.
I see.
I don't get a lot of time to watch TV.
I thought about that when I was writing this.
I was like, she's the champ.
She ain't watching TV.
Yeah.
But maybe, gosh, and this sucks because I probably do have one, but nothing that comes
right off the top.
I really liked Squid Games.
I loved Squid Games.
That was really good.
Yeah.
I liked it as well.
So kind of a follow-up to that one, a lot of UFC fighters and MMA fighters have been appearing in the pro wrestling world recently in AEW and WWE Ronda Rousey just won the Royal
Rumble. Would you ever consider going to pro wrestling and doing something in that world?
So if it was after my fighting career and after I was done with the UFC, then I absolutely would. But if it is, you know, during the UFC, no, I don't think I would right now. My focus is just on UFC. But in the future, I mean, I'm definitely open to doing something like that. I think that's probably going to be something like a dream come true later on when I'm done with my UFC career. I was going to say, like, you know how to cut a promo already. We've seen that. So you could even get in the ring, cut a promo, throw a hip toss and get out of there. And it's just
like, Oh, there's the champ. I tried. I tried. I wanted to do a, um, I went to the WWE when they
were here in Chicago at the all state arena, like maybe the week after I won. And I was trying so
hard to get inside that ring. And I was going to be like, you know, I heard you guys got some goats around here. Well, I'm the goat slayer. So bring them, bring them on out. Let's see what you guys got. But they didn't let me in the ring.
Damn, that would have been great. Maybe AEW, maybe you got to go to their competition and then it'll like force their hand, you know? Well, it was crazy because I saw Shayna Baszler in there. She came out. I didn't know she was there.
She came out.
She got pinned in like 10 seconds right in front of me.
I'm like, this is crazy.
I think that would be a great first match for me if I ever do go to the WWE.
Yeah, you and Shayna, that would be awesome.
Yeah.
There's a ton of MMA fighters.
Like the entire four horsewomen of MMA are now in pro wrestling.
Like some of them are in WWE.
Some of them are in AEW.
Some of them work in the independents.
But it seems to be like, I don't't know an easy transition for a lot of people matt riddle is
really succeeding in wrestling right now it's like i don't know if it's just the the body language
techniques or whatever it is mma fighters seem to transition very well well and i also think that
you know any you know older i guess mma fighter can can can can relate to WWE so much because for me for
example this is what I grew up watching this is what I grew up my brother practiced all these
moves on me so like I'm a fan of the WWE because that was the first form of fighting that I actually
saw I thought it was real I thought that these guys were you know crazy fighters and so I think
that they transitioned so well because it's what they crazy fighters. And so I think that they transitioned so well,
because it's what they grew up watching. And so I think that that also has something to do with it.
And then who is your favorite musical artist?
My favorite musical artist. See, that's difficult, because I have such a wide range of music taste,
I literally listen to everything. And I'm such a big fan.
I love, for example, Nora Jones.
I also love like Kanye West, you know, so it can go either way depending on my mood.
I love Brad Paisley, Kid Rock.
I'm obsessed with Elton John, you know, so those are just some of the people that I like.
But I love music.
Literally, I listen to music all day long,
every single day.
They call me the DJ at the gym
because I got the playlists.
And I love a lot of artists.
It just depends on the mood that I'm in.
Do you have like a pump up playlist?
Like this is the playlist that helped me win the title.
You got to put that out there for the people.
Yeah, it's called the leo
lion shit only and uh it's like stuff that like gets me pumped up at site and then i had like an
abu dhabi playlist when i went to abu dhabi and so like i i form a new playlist pretty much every
camp i was there in abu dhabi for the sarah mcmahon fight and sarah mcmahon i had i i have to admit a
little urge
to root for her because I was on a plane with her over there and she worked out in front of me like
six times on the plane. I was like, I am trying to get some sleep and she can't stop working out.
Good for her. But then yeah, you'd be there. You'd be ruined.
I, yeah, no, I know. I was, I, I, I heard that too. Like she was working out on the plane and
I was like, Oh, I was chilling. I was trying to read a book enjoying doing burpees yeah yeah I know I was I was having a good time just enjoying
the you know first class experience and and getting treated like a princess on that flight
so I was like do you want some champagne yes I do want some champagne thank you you know so I was
having a good old time yeah that flight definitely I'll never go to Abu Dhabi
again. I don't think. Yeah. Well you have to go first class. If you don't go first class,
then it ain't nothing. So no, I wasn't in first class way back. I was on the middle seat and a
fighter's coach spilled a drink on my sock. I had a wet sock for the flight. You know how bad a wet
sock is for an 18 hour flight. That is horrible. They give you socks in first class. I got like a, I still have them. They were so comfortable or like so nice.
That's brutal. You're the champ. You deserve the socks. Juliana, thank you for joining the show. I really appreciate the time. And I hope you get that title fight soon, that title defense soon.
Yes, thank you. Thank you for having me. And thank you so much for the time. I appreciate it.
Hello and welcome back to my mom's basement, ladies and gentlemen.
It is Robbie Fox and I am here with the legend, Quentin Rampage Jackson.
We're here to talk about Triad Combat 2, which is a foreign combat sport to a lot of people,
this new Triad Combat system. So Rampage, to begin, can you just explain what this is to everybody?
It's just my listeners that may not know.
Oh, man, this is like, in my opinion,
I think this is like one of the most exciting combat sports around.
They put in boxers versus MMA guys and a new cage ring triad thing.ad it's a triangle it's literally a small triangle yeah
yes it's a small triangle and um with uh like eight ounce gloves they're like um
they're like basically the mma gloves that mma fighters use to spar this is what we this is what
we spar in because we don't want to spar in like a little bit four-ounce gloves. So we put on the little bit bigger gloves with a little bit more padding so we can punch each other and still grapple and everything.
And they kind of like mix the rules up a little bit where you can do dirty.
It's basically dirty boxing with a spinning back fist and a Superman punch where you can kind of like grapple a little bit.
It's very exciting.
If you guys missed the first triad, you guys really missed that.
I would suggest that you guys go back and try to watch the first one.
I don't know how you can do that.
I don't know if it's up on there.
I'm sure you could do it on Triller.
I'm sure they got it.
Yeah, I'm sure.
Yeah, I'm sure.
Yeah.
Go and check it out.
Every fight was so exciting.
Every fight.
And so I'm i'm expecting
for that to um be the same way for this for this next event they got coming up and it's not just
the fights right it's like a show as well they got metallica playing and they got nick cannon
hosting and they had fat joe there last time it's it's a whole big shindig yeah yeah it was very
exciting i was very impressed i i had no idea what to expect. You know, I've seen Triller and stuff like, you know, I've seen people, you know, them putting on shows, but I'd never been to one.
Right. And I was very impressed.
The only people that I've seen even come close to what they what they've done was Pride back in the day.
And they blew Pride out of the water.
Wow.
It was like a very impressive event.
I saw some interviews with you afterwards,
and I saw Ariel Hawani ask you if you were a Metallica fan.
You said not really.
So let me ask you, if you could place anyone you wanted in that place,
let's say as the guest performer, who would Rampage Jackson's pick be?
I probably would pick, you i'm from memphis so you know i picked like dj paul and juicy jay and you know
and then you know a lot of uh a lot of the memphis rap rappers you know what's the best
concert you've ever been to oh man i i'm not a big music buff. I haven't been to many concerts.
But I can say, back in the day, I used to have a big crush on Beyonce.
So I went to one of her concerts.
As soon as she got married to Jay-Z, I kind of lost my crush on her. So I haven't been back.
But the most memorable concert, that's probably one of the only concerts I've been to was Cardi B.
I had a lot of female friends that won.
I mean, not Cardi B.
I said Beyonce.
I had a lot of female friends that won the Sierra.
And I won the Sierra.
And, you know, I went because I met Beyonce once in my hometown of Memphis after I won the belt.
So I was a real big fan of hers.
What was that like meeting her after you won the belt?
Man, that was, it was cool belt? Man, that was cool.
You know, it was unexpected.
I was in Memphis, and they wanted me to come to the FedEx Arena.
That's like, you know, the big arena in Memphis where they put on events
and where, you know, they have all the games and stuff.
And they was like, oh, we want you to take a picture with Beyonce with the belt.
And so they put the belt on me and I walked in there.
And so Beyonce saw me walking in the room with her.
I think she had like somebody with her best friend or I don't know who she was.
The girl I didn't recognize it.
Beyonce bust out laughing at me.
And she whispered something to the girl kind of made me feel uneasy.
She was like, why are you walking around with that big
belt on? I'm like, oh, come on.
I'm from here and I just won this belt.
They wanted me to take
a picture with you with the
belt on. She's like, oh, okay.
It made me instantly shocked.
I mean, it's Beyonce.
How could it not?
She was stunning in person this is my
first time seeing her in person i'm like wow stunning you mentioned memphis and when i put
the call out for questions for fan questions for this interview one of the ones that i got was if
memphis is the undisputed king of barbecue who is number two in your eyes wow that's a good question
uh man i think i had some good um. I think I was in Carolina somewhere.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah, I think I was in Carolina,
but I think some people would argue, like, what, St. Louis, wouldn't they?
A lot of people like St. Louis barbecue, yeah.
Yeah, so I guess we would argue and say St. Louis.
All right, that's fair. Shout out St. Louis.
The first triad
show you went back and forth a lot with shannon bricks this was a big rivalry you guys were duking
it out i mean there was even talk of you guys fighting yeah i remember there was talk of it
happening in december then there was talk of it maybe happening in march do you think this is
still on the table is something you want to do yeah i really want to fight uh shannon you know
i have to shut this guy up he talks too
much he's a big troll and so um my manager has been going back and forth for triller and we're
trying to get it for me uh pending on shannon olas passing a physical oh there you go so he's
very confident he can pass the physical he said mike tyson and holyfield and fighting for them
and they're there he said they're older than him.
He just looked older.
Shannon, he looks way older than Mike Tyson and Holyfield put together.
He got that gray-ass Billy Goat beard on his face.
And he's like a chuckety Kris Kringle dog.
You know, he's just old looking.
Ruthless.
I mean, you're ruthless on Instagram, too.
You don't let this guy get a break every day trolling him.
Well, you know what?
I'm about to give up on that because he posts a bunch of bullshit about me.
I post one.
I come back with one.
And then he got like 10 posts dragging me through the mud.
And I just can't keep up.
I'm petty.
I'm petty with stuff like that.
I can't. It got'm petty with stuff like that. I can't.
You can't lose the meme war.
You got to win the meme war.
There's no stopping it with that guy.
I come back with some belts
and some tenor ones.
I come back with some real good ones
and he just don't stop.
He'll recycle ones that
we already used
before he just don't stop
goes back to the playbook plays the hits
yeah it's no
winning the meme war with that
guy you know
I'm in a meme war with him I'm in an Instagram
I'm in an IG war with
Kongo it's like
me and Kongo have been going back and forth
for years I got two guys like coming for my neck you know, me and Congo have been going back and forth for years. I got two guys, like, coming for my neck, you know what I'm saying?
Like, embarrassing the hell out of me.
Congo be getting me with all the fat jokes and then Shannon keep photoshopping my face on fat chick.
You know, I can't catch a break.
What are you laughing at?
Well, you know, it's tough.
I get it, you know. Sometimes you it you know sometimes you get memed i get
memed all the time look at me obviously um and you and your mom's basement and i can see that
i can see people post the pictures of me oh this is the guy talking about fighting this guy right
here yeah i yeah i get it i get it um looking back at your career now do you have a favorite
win do you have one that sticks out above all others? Yeah, my first time knocking Vanny Lake Silver the fuck out in the UFC. That was my favorite
fight to date. I knew I could beat this guy. You know, I fought him both times. Both times
he beat me, I was winning the fight. And the first time Pride helped him out, they stood
me up when I was grinding and pounding him.
He was in that tournament. I had just beat Chuck Liddell 45 minutes before.
And then the second time I fought him, I was kicking his ass.
And then he got me. He rocked me. He got me. And he just knocked me out with a knee.
And I was like, oh, you know, it's MMA. Anything mma anything i just knew i could beat this guy then
when i finally had the perfect training conditions everything was perfect perfect camp i trained with
mark kenny he's an amateur boxing coach out of the uk one of the best amateur boxing coaches i've
ever seen and he worked on my on my on my left hook and he called it hook get with that hook and again
i turned it and i turned it over like this like he said like an amateur hook and said you don't
know my hook like this he had me turn it over like this when i when i landed it he was he was he was
out before you hit the mat he was instantly like as soon as he was out and i was like wow that was
my that was my most favorite fight to date.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
And now your son's fighting, right?
And you cornered your son.
So how do the nerves compare to you stepping in the cage yourself and you watching your son fight from the corner?
Man, it's some crazy shit because, you know, my son, his first amateur fight, I kind of wanted to handpick his opponent,
but I didn't have the, you know, they didn't let me.
You know, they didn't let me because it's my son, right?
You know, you kind of like, you want your son to, it's hard to explain.
I wanted to pick his fight, but I didn't have the liberty to.
My son picked his fight, and he wanted to fight this cat,
and this cat was tough.
He had already, it wasn't his debut.
He had just beat some guy like a couple weeks prior,
like a month prior or something.
I told my son, I saw the video.
I was like, son, this kid's tough.
My son was like, I don't care.
I just want to fight.
Amateur, don't count on my record.
So going into that fight and calling my son,
you don't know what's going to happen in a fight. You fought before. You don't know what my record so going into that fight and cornering my son like leading up
you don't know what's going to happen like in a fight like you fought before you don't know what's
going to happen you can prepare for it you know everything the worst and anything can happen and
you don't know what the other guys got coming you know especially at that level and my son went out
there and he and he fought he fought well he showed a lot of heart he got put in a really tight guillotine
choke early in the first round.
And he could have tapped, and nobody would have thought nothing of it.
It would have been like, oh, so he got tapped out of it.
He fought out of it.
And I was like, wow, my son fought out of that guillotine.
A lot of people would have tapped.
I probably would have tapped.
And who knows, you know?
He got out of it and grinded out
a referee stoppage.
He stopped the kid in the third round.
It was very nerve-wracking.
I was sweating.
I was more nervous for him than I have been
for any of my fights.
He's fighting again next month
in Global Legion
in Charlotte.
Will you be there for that one too?
Yeah, I'll be there for that one. He's fighting on the 19th. February 19th in Charlotte. Oh, wow. Will you be there for that one, too? Yeah, I'll be there for that one. He's fighting on the 19th, February 19th
in Charlotte.
He's fighting
another tough guy.
I think this guy's like a kickboxer
or something.
I'm just proud of my son.
My son, he's come a long way.
He chose this
life. I'm just going to be there, try's come a long way. He chose this. He chose this life.
And I'm just going to be there, try to guide him as much as I can possibly can.
I'm not saying that I'll be there in his corner for every fight, but hopefully I can be, you know?
Yeah.
How instrumental are you in his coaching?
Like, are you coaching him regularly?
Is he off on his own doing that stuff?
No, I'm a shit coach, bro.
I don't know if you've ever seen me on Ultimate Fighter. I did. Yeah, I did. Yeah, I saw that.'m a shit coach, bro. I ain't no lie. I don't know if you ever seen me on Ultimate Fighter.
I did.
Yeah, I did.
Yeah, I saw that.
Yeah.
So, you know, I ain't no fucking coach, bro.
I'm a shit coach.
But I teach him the things that work for me because he's a lot like me.
His style is like mine but better.
When he gets into fighting for like after like five like five ten years he'll be a better fighter
than i ever were wow but he has but he has the um he has the best coach in the night he trained
with antonio mckee the father awesome yeah defeated aj mckee aj yeah yeah it's a great
camp over there and finally this is a real question for you how many of me would it take to kick your ass if you put a bunch of 145
six foot 145 still a white belt still a white belt in jiu-jitsu yeah and we do it we what we
doing we we doing it in a cage or we was like street i'm walking down the alley and there's
a bunch of you i mean well yeah yeah walking down the alley there's a bunch of me we walking down the alley and there's a bunch of you. Yeah, walking down the alley, there's a bunch of me.
We walk down the alley and there's a bunch of you.
I would say a realistic number would probably be...
A dozen?
I would say it would probably be seven.
Seven of me?
I'll take that.
Yeah, realistic seven because uh i said because i grown
up in memphis i used to get jumped a lot and i used to hold my own against uh four people i have
a strategy i'm a i'm a street fighter first i'm a brawler i always told people this you know it's
always been my fighting style i'm a brawler so i'm really good at street fighting and i have a strategy when you're fighting
more than one guy and the most people i've ever uh fought and and did uh well that was was four
and when it got to five and six i wouldn't do as well so but you realistically now since the
experience that i got now back then i didn't know any martial arts. I just knew how to fight. Now that I know martial arts
and I can probably
like the first two,
I could probably be the one here to quit
because if you go on the street, I'm trying to kill.
You know what I'm saying? I'd probably snap a couple of y'all next.
I was going to say, if you hit me with a punch,
I would die. Yeah, but you know,
honestly, the first couple
ones, I would probably grab and
throw you up, try to slam you in your head, kill you. You know what I'm the first couple ones, I would probably grab them, throw you up,
try to slap you on your head, kill you.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm fighting for my life.
I don't know if you guys got guns or what.
I don't know.
I'm fighting for my life.
I'm trying to kill.
You got a little skinny neck.
I'd probably kill a couple of y'all. You know, at least three of y'all are going to die.
Well, let me tell you what.
Cloning becomes a thing.
You better watch your back.
Seven of me.
That's a pay-per-view I would watch.
Seven of me in the triangle, in the triad triangle against you.
Come on.
Tell me we don't sell a million pay-per-views.
Hey, I'm down.
Call up Ryan Kavanaugh.
Tell Ryan Kavanaugh I want $5 million per year for one of your clones.
That's fair, right?
Yeah, I think that's fair.
And then, you know, if he's fair right yeah i think that's fair and then you
know if he's in a triad it's cool i don't got to kill nobody because uh you know i i want to i want
to make it to heaven we'll sign the forms yeah yeah i never killed anybody so i'm not looking
forward to you know breaking that that one rule i got that's not the only rule i got but that's
one of my most you're like you're like bat You're like, you can't break that one rule. You can't kill.
Yeah, I don't want to kill him, but I will if I have to.
All right.
Save my life, you know?
Yeah.
No, I mean, who wouldn't?
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Come on.
Who wouldn't?
Who wouldn't?
All right, Rampage.
This has been a blast.
It's great finally getting to talk to you.
I've been a big fan of yours for a while.
Everyone, check out Triad Combat 2, February 26th.

dos santos vitor belfort like this is huge yeah this this is huge they got and it's going to be here to stay big names too junior dos santos vitor belfort like
this is huge yeah this this is huge they got and they're going to get some tough guys you know
who knows what's going to happen absolutely rampage thanks for joining the show all right brother
hello and welcome back to my mom's basement ladies and gentlemen i have a very special guest with me
now for an interview it is sir steve-o timothy and we're here to talk about this irish wheelchair boxing event this
charity event it's amazing it's for the irish wheelchair association the iwa this is going to
have conor mcgregor involved it's going to have a friend of the program involved al foran we love
him we're worried about him talk to me about how this all came together where did
the idea come to come from and all that it kind of i i'm a wheelchair user i use a wheelchair and
use crutches so i kind of had this idea last year just off the cuff that i wanted to do like some
kind of mma style wheelchair fight i basically wanted to get a fella in a wheelchair and let's
kick the shite out of each other why should that only be the the uh the realm of able-bodied people if i if two consenting gallants want to go out and
kick the shit out of each other let's do it so i put up a tweet and uh the olympic boxer patty
burns responded to me and he goes i'll fight you if you want so he messaged me and we got chatting
and we were only going to do it like in a in the care park in galway or belfast or something like that just for a bit of a buzz and then I kind of got thinking and I said why
don't we put it up as a charity thing and kind of try and raise a couple of pounds for the Irish
wheelchair association so that it kind of evolved then and it spread and then we had a good few
Irish kind of uh online celebrities involved Al of course but we didn't have a competitor for Al
so I put up a tweet and I just tagged Conor in it because Conor had donated 10 grand earlier Irish kind of online celebrities involved, Al, of course, but we didn't have a competitor for Al.
So I put up a tweet and I just tagged Conor in it because Conor had donated 10 grand earlier.
So he was obviously interested and he was retweeting.
So then Conor goes like, I'll do it.
And we were like, no, this is, he's messing.
He's messing.
He's not going to do this.
And then it came to September,
but he had the injury at that time. So he kind of, he he said give me a few more months or whatever and then we were meant to
have it in december but we had restrictions here and we had all that crap going on so then we said
we'll put it off to the new year so we haven't got a confirmed date exactly we're hoping march
april but we're playing around with that and we're trying to get a day basically when everyone's free so then Conor said yeah he'll do it and it's it's real and it's kind of it's insane it's kind of
insane how it went from just me and Paddy Burns taking a few slaps out of you at each other to
like Conor McGregor being involved and we had Ricky Hatton at the last one we had like other
well-known fighters as well and we decided as well then we're going to we're going
to do it an annual event so we're going to have it every september and we've already started
negotiations with a big name in boxing you might i won't give a name but he's fairly big up there
in the boxing world he's quite a quite a funny or a reverent guy so we're hoping to get him in in
september if we can't fingers crossed that's amazing you just mentioned mentioned the last event that Ricky Hatton was at and everything.
And there's some great clips from that online.
You could find on your Instagram, on your YouTube and all that stuff.
How did that last event go?
It went very well.
I won anyway.
Well, Paddy was, Paddy, we just ended the fight because Paddy stood up.
Because we took off the head guards.
And I said to Paddy, will we just go for it for the last round? And he went, Paddy, Paddy, Paddy, Paddy stood up because we took off the headguards. And I said to Paddy, will we just go for it for the last round?
And he went, Paddy has a very strong accent.
He goes, whatever, let's go.
So we just started thumping the faces of each other.
And then Paddy stood up.
So he was disqualified immediately.
So I took the win.
So I was happy.
And we raised 40-something grand.
So that's incredible as well.
And obviously, hopefully, with this one coming around and obviously with connor involved all it would take really for
connor to like break it into like astronomical figures just to retweet it and go hey donate to
this yeah you know because he's such he has such pull on social media world you know so
at the end of the day like it's a bit of crack for us but it is raising
well-needed funds oh yeah absolutely and obviously the irish wheelchair association they used to
solely depend on basically being outside supermarkets trying to get pennies off people
coming out with the restrictions and the lockdown and all that that was removed from them so and my
mother was in a wheelchair and i remember how good they were to her
when she needed stuff and things.
So you pay back, don't you?
That's the kind of, that's how the world works.
Absolutely.
Where can people donate
to the Irish Wheelchair Association now if they want to?
We haven't set up the GoFundMe
because we don't have a date for the fight.
Yeah.
So if they want to donate separately,
I think you can just go to the Irish Wheelchair Association
and donate from their page.
So the irishwheelchairassociation.ie, I think.
Or they can just wait until we have either a GoFundMe
or some other system in place
because we couldn't set it up because we don't have a date.
So it puts everything on hold for a while,
but we're excited for it.
And look, we think it'll be big
and we'll probably do a pay-per-view because people
will be,
people will be very inquisitive to see Conor McGregor fighting in a
wheelchair.
I was going to say,
if Conor's fighting,
you got to put it on pay-per-view.
He's a pay-per-view fighter.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Obviously,
obviously.
And hopefully that'll break records and it'll be a brilliant night.
And look,
if Al chickens out,
I'll take them on.
I don't care.
What was Al's response
when when McGregor started responding and everything oh I was getting a bit afraid like
he was getting afraid he was like oh Steve I don't know about this buddy you know what I mean and I
was like Al come on he's not going to like he knows it's for the Irish wheelchair association
there's no bad blood he's not going to like come out and demolish Al you know what I mean you know
what I mean he's he's not stupid like you know demolish out you know what i mean you know what i mean he's
he's not stupid like you know what i mean it's for charity yeah i certainly hope not i love al
i don't want to see him get knocked out that would be that would be a sad day for me as an al friend
no no and i'd be bad then for like getting him involved in this and he has a heart issue so
like it'd be like oh god i'm after killing al but like yeah it's it's going to be fun and i
hope everyone tunes in and hopefully in the next the next week or two we can have finality on dates
and stuff like that times of where it'll be and all that that would be amazing and i remember
when this was scheduled i think the last go around you were talking about maybe doing stuff with
artem and john cavanaugh mcgregor's boxing coach and stuff do you think you're still going to do
some stuff in the lead up to it with
that team?
Oh yeah.
They'll be,
they'll be,
they'll be on the undercard.
Like it's going to be Artem V.
Paddy Houlin.
Amazing.
So that's going to be incredible because that's going to be an actual
fight.
Cause yeah.
No,
you don't play.
Absolute animal.
And then we're going to have other like,
uh,
people that do sketches and things online and a few of that. And like, we're going to have Sine uh people that do sketches and things online and a few of
that and like we're going to have shanae kavanaugh who's fighting soon enough in the in the three
arena and stuff so that would be really cool and hopefully we'll get john kavanaugh as well as a
as one of one of the judges so hopefully you won't be too biased when it comes to connor but
yeah really well i'm looking forward to it steve i'm really excited for you to announce the date
i'll be watching a live stream and everything and people that are listening to this pay attention to
my podcast as soon as they announce the date i'll let you guys know when it happens i'll let you
guys know where the gofundme link is so you can go donate and stay tuned because we're going to
see conor mcgregor versus alfora in a wheelchair boxing match it's going to be amazing it's going
to be a great event for charity thank you very much for joining the show i appreciate the time
thank you so much man i appreciate it
