Hello and welcome to My Mom's Basement, presented by Barstool Sports and 3G, and the Christmas extravaganza holiday special edition of My Mom's Basement with Robbie Fox, Clem, and the basement's favorite guest, I think, Jose Young. The youngsters, this is your Christmas gift from us.
We've got Jose back on the pod.
Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, happy Kwanzaa,
happy whatever you celebrate, whether it be Festivus, Life Day,
whatever it is, this is the holiday special for you.
How are we?
Fantastic, guys.
I'm glad to be back with the shelf.
I'm glad to be back in the basement with you guys.
It's been a while.
We were trying to remember
it was the last time I did this was
when Marvel just dropped that big
bomb of the lineup of all their
upcoming stuff, correct? Just the whole
slate, yeah. And we were like, we're going to need
a little more insight. And everyone thought I moved.
Yeah, I was at a hotel and everyone thought I moved.
So the shelf is here, the shelf is back, the shelf
is, I think, I have
a lot of stuff I need to put back up.
But it's pretty, it's complete-ish, I'll say.
I'm going to name that the wall of knowledge.
That's what that is.
Jose's brain is filled from the wall of knowledge right behind there.
And this is like a Christmas present because we hear it all the time.
Shit, Bob, how many times since Jose was last on did I say, all right, we need to get Jose on.
He's going to have to figure this out for us.
I wish I had made a list of all the stuff we had to ask you while you're here
because you're a busy man.
Just got to bang some of this stuff out.
But there's a whole lot.
It's like the DC stuff that's going on right now with James Gunn.
I could just hear you for like two hours just talk about that and be like,
is this going to be okay?
I know.
I feel like he should be in on the James Gunn meetings.
I feel like Jose should be in on the meetings.
Dude, that would be great.
That'd be a lot of fun.
Life has been busy.
I've seen Robbie twice since that show in person,
but it's been in passing because it's been on the road for UFC work.
I think I've been home once in the last two months,
so glad I could fit this in.
And if you're watching on YouTube, like Clem said,
that wall behind Jose, it reminds me of it.
It's like the library at Carmitage.
It's like all the spells and shit you need, it's right behind there.
And he's like Wong, you know, like he knows where everything is.
Yeah, yeah.
This one, the first few times I did your show, I was at my old apartment before I moved.
And I could like reach behind without looking and pull it down.
Yeah. I'm not quite there yet because i've added a lot more so i'm still like trying to remember where i put certain things but with to the point yeah was this a huge comic buying year
for you 2022 it started off i got i was real aggressive with buying comic books to the point
where i had i had to force myself to like to the point where i had i'd had to
force myself to like pump the brakes because i'm like you need to finish what finish the stuff you
bought before you buy more but i think in the last month or so i started to pick back up because now
i'm all caught up yeah so i think it was like there's a comics it was a good year
yeah i would say it was pretty good there was some interesting
stuff that happened spider-man relaunched obviously like when i say relaunch like it
went back to amazing spider-man issue one because people i like i get i don't know about you guys
but i get messages a lot saying like where do i start if i want to read and it's daunting to say
like oh start a spider-man one and then you
look and there's 900 and something episodes or issues i should say so spider-man went back to
one and john ramita jr was the artist and i love john ramita jr don't like the direction of spider-man
presently that might be a hot take the daredevil is current daredevil is fantastic.
Immortal Hulk ended.
So it was a good year.
I'll say it was a good year.

And when I hit you up about this concept, a Christmas show, where I was like, let's talk about crossovers between superheroes comics you know specials
batman the animated series we'll bring up later what were the first projects that came to mind
for you when you were like oh that's what i want to talk about without question when you say
christmas comic book it is batman adventures holiday special which is the bruce tim comic
book which is based off of batman the animated series
to me that's i'm not saying it's the best in terms of the story but i remember i had that
comic book before i could read like my my dad would have to read it i i still have my original
i don't know how much it's worth but i still still have the original floppy, and it's so beat up and ripped.
I'm never getting rid of it.
I don't sell my comic books anyway, but that one has a special.
I think I've read it a million times.
It's not even numbered.
It's just Batman Adventures Holiday Special,
and it's four or five short stories.
Most of them, I believe, were reused for Batman the Animated Series,
but it was one they rebranded to Batman adventures,
I believe.
And they redid the art and everything.
It's like the fourth volume or whatever.
Fourth season,
if you want to call it that.
Yeah.
Yes.
Third or fourth season,
whatever.
And this involved Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn a lot,
right?
So the first one,
so the first story was Batgirl in the mall with the mall santa with clay face and there's no
batman in it and that one has like montoya and the and the cops are like undercover looking for
shoplifters because like this mall had had been susceptible to a lot of shoplifters and it turns
out all the kids that were shoplifters were just clay face that like split himself up into a bunch of children and then when like barbara gordon who was shopping like grabs one of the kids wrists
and the kid pulls and then like his hand is still in her hand because it's clay clay yeah yeah and
then so clay face shows up and then there's like this big battle in the mall and it's only like
seven eight pages but it's just fun there's that it's that it's the
poison ivy harley quinn where they brainwash uh bruce wayne to like go on a shopping spree in the
mall and then obviously they he snapped he he fakes his death by falling into an elevator shaft
and then batman comes and saves the day it's the so those two are obviously used in batman the new
adventures of batman show there's the
new year's one with joker where he kills some like he kills someone with like the joker smile
and then when batman goes after him and like i guess times square of the of gotham like it's
the giant they're gonna drop the ball and everything in gotham but what joker did is he
gave everyone in the city a joker
mask like he was just throwing them out so there's a million people with joker masks so he's like
damn it which one's the joker and then he finds it out and it's he drops the ball or the bell
on joker like that's how he went yeah and then there's the one where he has coffee with commissioner
gordon at the end on Christmas and then he
pays and then he like it's just like a fun little
thing where Gordon and
Batman are like just having coffee
and those were all used
in the show the only one that wasn't
which I think is the best one
is it's snowing
all of a sudden when it wasn't forecasted
and then he finds
Mr. Freeze like just
shooting his ice gun into the sky
and making it snow
and then there's like this big battle between Mr. Freeze
and Batman and then
Batman's about to win and he's like
it's Christmas
why are you doing this and then it turns out that
like Nora Reed who's
Mr. Freeze's or Nora Freeze Mr. Freeze's
wife like loved snow and always wanted a white Christmas.
And so it's a really heartwarming thing.
That's the only one they didn't use.
And that's the best one.
That to me is where when you text me,
first like instant holiday special Batman Adventures.
It's funny you say that
because they did redo a lot of those
for Batman the Animated Series.
It was called holiday nights
that's the the name of the episode if you want to check it out it's on hbo max and they also had
christmas with the joker which is like the first thing that comes to mind for me is this batman
the animated series episode which interestingly enough was the second episode of the series that
was ever made but it was the 38th to air yeah they they made these and air them in a
completely different weird order but since the show is so villain of the week and kind of like
formulaic like that but in a good way it works out so this is the debut the recorded debut of
mark hamill as the joker and he takes over a broadcast station breaks out of arkham on christmas
eve and or maybe it's christmas day
and robin just wants to watch it's a wonderful life with batman and they go to turn it on and
it's his broadcast he's got gordon kidnapped he's got a bunch of other people kidnapped
and when batman stops him joker ends by saying bah humbug and that was like always a funny thing for
me growing up like hint joker doing the scrooge thing today i went
back and i watched the very first animated christmas special batman ever had i hadn't even
heard of it before today it's from 1968 and it was called cool cruel christmas caper and it was
the adventures of batman and robin mr freeze disguises himself as santa and he takes over gotham's holiday parade he freezes the whole
tree including batman robin and gordon sure take the million dollar diamond tree topper so he
steals it and gordon goes it won't feel like christmas without that topper on the tree batman
you have to go get him so they go trap mr Freeze in a polar bear pit, save Christmas,
and what does Mr. Freeze end the special with?
Bahumbug.
I was like, unreal.
They took it from that.
That is the – I had not seen that one.
Now I'm going to have to go watch it because I'm a huge –
You could watch it on YouTube.
You could buy it on YouTube for $2.
That's what I did.
Oh, that's what's going to happen today as soon as we're done with this.
The Christmas with the Joker is my favorite episode of batman the animated series
that is it really yeah so i'm glad you brought up the fact that it was the second one made
because i believe the correct me if i'm wrong is the first one made man bat i think it is yeah
so you can tell because there's this real long drawn out scene of Batman just driving his his car.
And it just felt like such a pilot episode.
Like they just wanted to show everything that they wanted to do.
Like they showed him get in the car, leave, drive.
It's like a five minute scene.
It's very bizarre.
But Christmas with the Joker is the best one because, hey, that's where Jingle Bells Batman smell started.
Really?
Is that really the first spot it was?
Years ago, I did a deep dive into this.
And some people are pulling these random tidbits from reader letters in the back of comics.
But to my knowledge, that's the first instinct of Jingle Bells, Batman Smells.
Because he gets on the...
Because you remember at the beginning of that episode he gets on the tree and it like
rockets away he's singing that
there I believe to my
knowledge that's the first time that was ever
used Jingle Bells Batman smells
that's also like to me this is Mark
Hamill's best episode
of like it's the
best Joker laugh it's the best Joker
everything outside of the return
of the Joker the Batman Beyond movie I laugh it's the best joker everything outside of the return of the joker the batman
beyond movie i think that's his best work animated this is his best work in the show
and to me it's like when the heath leather joker came out and you had all these like hyper violent
like crazy criminal criminals of the joker that's all well and good and people really like that and
at the time that's what was
happening in the comic books but to me if you remember that episode he does this whole extravagant
there's a whole extravagant crime like he kidnaps all these people he puts them all in different
places and it takes a whole day and it's this whole big thing and at the end of the day the
big payoff was joker just pied batman in the face yep like he oh here's your present boom and he opens it out of his face all angry it's a
spring-loaded pie yeah like we're just like have a game show on tv where he was like you know making
people all afraid and to me that is what the joker is just a weird clown that just wants to
humiliate batman not this guy that was inspired you know
like one thousand percent and i taken out of the adam west show a thousand percent and to me that's
that one episode is everything i love about that joker and to me that is the that is my favorite
episode of batman the anime series i mean if that is the origin of that song it's it's it's like one
of the greatest pop culture moments of all time because i remember when i was a kid i sang it and then when my daughter came home from school like a
couple she's eight years old now this was like two or three years ago and she started singing
jingle bells batman sounds like it's still going baby it's still going and there are a couple i
think everyone has their version i yeah mine is jingle bells batman smells robin laid an egg
batmobile lost its wheel, and Joker Got Away.
But there's other versions of it.
Do you guys have a different version?
That was always my version, yeah.
That was your version. That's verbatim what I got.
And while I was looking it up today,
it said Bart uses this in The Simpsons like a few years later.
So it was like if this wasn't the first spot,
it was definitely the spot that popularized it.
Without question.
Without question. And it's funny you mentioned the simpsons because i wanted to note that too about how they said this was the second um recorded batman yeah simpsons first episode
of all time when it's a standalone show is a christmas episode it's when they meet santa's
little helper right it's crazy when you think about it where it becomes this fucking phenomenon
it's still on tv decades later and i mean i know it was on tracy olman show it was like a little
like yeah or whatever but the fact that their first episode was a christmas episode in theory
and basically i mean it's a christmas episode is fucking crazy to me so good company you know
what's crazy like there are popular holiday episodes of the halloween ones too like you
would think if you start with a christmas one maybe every year you'd nail the christmas one but no i mean there's a
couple good christmas simpsons ones right the one where bark gets the uh the video game but not the
one he wanted i think yeah yeah yeah thrill house there's this thrill hole yeah there's oh man i've
talked about uh i floated out a simpsons podcast a few times between Spitty and Colin back in the day.
All right.
If Jose's going to have to get it done in the basement.
The first eight seasons, I'm here for it.
Everything post that, I'm not.
I'm out.
Me and you both, brother, because it's about that.
I don't know if it goes to 10.
Sometimes it goes to 12, depending on the Simpsons diet you're talking to.
But basically, yeah, first eight is gold.
Peaks at season four and then slowly goes basically, yeah, first eight is gold.
Peaks at season four and then slowly goes down,
but it's still all good.
Oh, man.
So let's talk about some of the movies and shows that have gone down the Christmas route in recent years.
Obviously, most recently,
the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special.
Me and Clem did a pod on this.
Did you get a chance to watch it, Jose?
I haven't.
I actually, so I'm flying east for Christmas,
and I've downloaded it for the flight.
I think you'll enjoy it.
You like the James Gunn Guardians movies, right?
I, yeah.
I don't know.
I got nothing against it.
I've only seen half of the first and all of the second,
but I enjoy all the Easter eggs in it.
I really do.
When you ask that to Jose, if you like the Guardians,
I'll tell you about my heart's good to be like, Jose, don't tell me
you don't like the Guardians.
Guardians 2 is my jam.
The only thing worse than the boys.
No, no, no.
I like the Guardians. I like the Guardians
movies. I really like
I really liked
Kurt Russell's character.
Oh, Niko, Yeah. You go.
It was great.
Now,
are you a guardians comic guy too?
Do you,
do you read the guardians comics?
I did before the movie.
And this isn't like I stopped reading it because of the movie.
I was reading a lot of,
I was reading the guardians in college back when like Thor and Iron Man were much more involved in it.
But yeah,
I don't,
I really enjoy them.
Can you tell us anything about Cosmo?
Because Cosmo, the dog gets teased in the holiday special we know that it's going to be a bigger part of guardians
three yeah it's he's uh cosmo the one with the uh like the the helmet and everything right yeah he's
uh i believe if i remember correctly he was like a cosmonaut so he's he's like russian he or like
soviet i should say yeah and he was like who cosmonaut. So he's like Russian or like Soviet, I should say.
Yeah, it's the girl who played Borat's daughter does the voice.
Really?
Yeah, but I think he's still a boy.
But it's just kind of the Mark Simpson thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's like a... Don't put that to the Simpsons.
He's telepathic.
So that's how he interacts with people.
And he's like the head of security at the space station no the space station nowhere but nowhere is spelled like k
n o w the guardians now own nowhere and correct so uh it's it's there's a i believe there's a female
there might be female i don't remember but uh it's it's you're there like when when cosmo is there
he's he steals the scenes in the comic books like it's very much like like in the like with
the hickman run with uh hawkeye when kate bishop ever pops up it becomes about kate bishop when
cosmo is in the the comics that's all i care about like
that's literally all i care about it's it's fun they have like it's like telepathic telekinesis
uh like and create like defense shields and everything and it there's like a really good
issue where he fights adam warlock who's obviously being played by what's his name we're the millers
kid we're the yeah that'sers kid yeah there's a really good
issue where cosmo fights adam warlock and adam warlock it's like it's not it's a tough fight
like he's strong enough to hold his own where the millers kid punch a dog in the next movie
i'm not ready to see that it's if they do it that would be i mean they might have my yelps like oh
oh my god that'll break my heart
james comes like listen guys i'm leaving marvel after this anyway i can do whatever i want and
you can't fire me because i'm going to your competitor between that and the high evolutionary
like re going in on rocket we're gonna get some pita complaints towards this movie oh for sure
hands up me and bob fox uh we we did a um end-year grade. We graded the MCU, DCU, Star Wars, and Game of Thrones.
We forgot all the stuff that we watched in the last couple months.
We forgot to put the Guardians on the Marvel grade.
I think we gave Marvel a B for the year.
That might get it in the B-plus range.
I don't know.
I think you're going to like it.
It's this and Werewolf by Night, so I think you could push it up.
I think Jose's going to like it.
It's fun.
It'll make you laugh.
It gets you in the holiday spirit. That's all you can ask for here star wars what do we have i think i might have my notes from uh it got a b overall for the year
but that's bob that's bob's b bob is very and or brought it up a ton at the end of the year
i think i might have been like a c plus or something because andor was awesome i don't
know how much you that's an that is an understatement and or it's the best tv show of the year yes of
anything but then i then like we started like talking about the scenes from uh when leia's
running around and obi-wan and then the uh spy kids my kids And then I just got really angry. And I was like, C, maybe C-minus.
I mean, fucking C-plus.
Andor was awesome.
Yeah, that's fair.
Another show with a dog, Hawkeye.
Last year, we got Hawkeye.
Yeah.
One of the first episodes that we did with you, Jose, because this is one of your favorite comics.
And I thought Hawkeye did Christmas so well in their show.
So well that, like, it kind of made me want to re-watch Hawkeye this
year I haven't yet but I might throw on an episode here or there they did a great decorating montage
the final battle was at the Rockefeller Center tree and everything um so I thought this was
actually a very good example of the Marvel Universe using Christmas as a backdrop I still
haven't watched Hawkeye um but the hawkeye comic that obviously the show is
based off of that christmas issue when hawkeye is it's it's kind of written like pulp fiction
where it's like it starts on this day and then it goes back and then it jumps forward and it
shows the big letters of like the days where it starts off with him and tony stark or like they're they're like trying to
cut this cord and they're like don't do it it's the green one he's like no it's the red one and
you think they're diffusing a bomb but then when he cuts it and then it like pan it like quote
unquote pans out it's hawkeye trying to fix his dvr because he just wants to watch a christmas
special and he called tony stark to help him set up his surround sound system
because he's the smartest man in the world and even
Tony Stark can't figure it out.
It's a great, great, great
episode and it's the one
where he sends Kate Bishop
his bow for Christmas
and then Kate Bishop
brings it back and she's like, where are you
going? And he's like, I have to leave.
The Russian mob's going to blow up this building if I don't leave. And she's like, you're an idiot. And gives him the bow back and she's like where are you going and he's like i have to leave the russian mob's
gonna blow up this building if i don't leave and she's like you're an idiot and i was like gives
him the bow back and like storms away you got me so hyped for that series when you were talking
about you know how it was one of your favorite runs in all comic history and all that and i
know people bought it jose is like moving fucking merch off the shelves i still get messages about
buying moon knight and buying hawkeye like to the
like i get like one a week of people being like is this the right one i'm like buy it just buy
the whole thing moon night's another one we would have been so fucking lost without you you are oh
my god yeah my best if you haven't watched moon night and you're thinking about watching moon
night make sure you watch our episode with Jose first.
That's your primer.
Even I watched Moon Knight and I enjoyed it.
Yeah.
And then there's one other MCU project that touches on Christmas, and it's Iron Man 3, which is very controversial.
We just saw our friend Jeff D'Lo recommended this on Good Morning America as a Christmas movie.
Iron Man does say Merry Christmas, buddy.
Yeah.
At the end, he said Merry Christmas, buddy, as the Iron Legion shows up and there's snow all over the ground.
Kind of gives it that Christmas vibe.
It was released in May, which is interesting.
But Shane Black, the director, just loves using Christmas as a backdrop.
When you look through his movies, he's used Christmas as a backdrop to Lethal Weapon, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Nice Guys nice guys and iron man three kind of fucking crazy that's the christmas weirdo right there that's someone who's obsessed with christmas
and like they have a part of like a room in their house that always is christmas i feel i feel like
he has yeah like mcfoley one of those people yes oh man that's funny i forgot about that
that's so funny i just thought that was interesting.
Like, it's not one of my favorite movies, but, you know, you put snow on the ground and it will give it a Christmas vibe for me, even if it's not a holiday movie.
Like, Batman Returns does have some Christmas stuff if we swap over to DC.
Oh, without question.
They do the tree lighting ceremony.
Catwoman robs the store right before Christmas.
But can you call it a christmas movie
maybe not but i kind of consider it one and watch it yeah around this time every year i think so i
also i think i said this when we did our batman episode when i joined you guys the first two
batman feel like especially the second one uh with michael keegan feels like their whole thing
is shot inside a snow globe because everything. The buildings and everything don't look
real and there's always snow coming down.
Batman Returns is for sure.
Or whichever one
it is, it's for sure a Christmas movie.
It's my favorite of the original
four for sure as well. Danny DeVito
is unbelievable in that movie.
And if you want to watch that with
My Mom's Basement commentary, we've done that
before with my brother. So that's on the channel that would be a fun christmas watch for you
um and then other than that other than dc shows and specials i just did some research on how santa
has been handled in both the mcu and the dcu in the comics um and by doing some research I mean I watched a couple videos
by a guy named comic Drake who actually did the research and there are some crazy I'm very curious
about this because normally when Santa like the actual Santa Claus pops up in comics I'm just like
but he's popped up over the years in both for and Marvel a ton. And it seems like there's basically no continuity between appearances.
Like, it never connects.
In DC, we'll start with DC.
There was a comic once where businessmen tried to get Santa to make commercial goods in his workshop.
This is the first ever appearance of Santa in a comic.
It was in an early Superman comic that was exclusively sold in department stores like bailey's i think sure um so businessmen the villains are trying
to get santa to make commercial goods to be sold in department stores and superman says no or
superman has to come and say no way you can't make santa do this they poison santa's reindeer
and then superman has to carry santa's carry Santa's sleigh and help him deliver presents that whole night.
Superman also has to work Santa out because they make Santa eat cookies that make him way too fat.
What year did this come out?
Like the 40s, I think.
Yeah, that sounds like golden era Superman when he was just doing weird stuff all the time. He's literally there's panels where he has that.
He has a Santa like by the back and he's running behind him to help him burn off the calories.
Oh, I can't fit down chimneys.
I I have such a I have I have such a soft spot for golden age Superman because that's what my mom's favorite comic book is.
And that's how I and she's the one that got me into comic books.
Everything you're describing is
just so up my alley.
I need to find this comic book.
There were actually two comic books
made for
Bailey's, and I think one is
very easy to find, the other is not.
I think it might be because
there was a possibly racist
caricature in it there's if you
read those back then there's so many like if you read them now you're like oh i think that's why
they make comic books they're like let's just throw some some of our views on racism in here
some wild shit dish them to kids hey kids comment um dc comics also had a rudolph the red-nosed
reindeer comic at one point that is considered canon.
Like in the DC encyclopedia, when you look through that and everything, it still says like Earth 12.
Lobo, who we recently discussed on this podcast, I said I would love to see Jason Momoa play him in the new DC universe.
He once had to kill an evil Santa twice in a comic book.
Yeah.
Because Santa was enslaving his elves
yep so you knew about this one oh yeah man that's such an extreme so i went for there was like a
one summer where i got really into lobo and that one's not that's not the best one but
i i remember reading these and being like, I feel like the writer just,
no one cared about Lobo enough back then that he's like, I'm just going to do whatever I want
until they tell me to stop.
Like some of the stories that he would pull out
and be like, this is it.
Like there's one where it's like he,
it's like in the future and he like,
oh, it's just, he like kills Robin.
I'm like, this is nuts.
And yeah, that was a weird
error for comic books for sure it looked very i don't want to say like you should frank miller
but it looked oh yeah you know like you should if you haven't seen the cover clem it's like lobo if
i remember if it's the one i'm thinking about it's like lobo standing over superman with like
a bloody knife and superman i mean not superman santa claus is just like dead in the snow it's like lobo standing over superman with like a bloody knife and superman i mean not superman
santa claus is just like dead in the snow it's so extreme i gotta find this i'm oh my god it's so
extreme can you throw it up for us to put on the screen i'm gonna i'm gonna throw it up on the
screen here all right so if you're watching on youtube we're about to get it up if you're not
make sure to head over to the YouTube channel.
Thankfully, it's like, I don't know if it's blood on there, but it looks more black, which I feel like they sometimes do to kind of...
They have to.
Yeah.
It's like when they show replays of like WrestleMania 13.
Is that what you're talking about, Jose?
I hope that's what you're talking about.
I hope there's not blood on there.
100% man, that's the one. about jose i hope that's what you're talking about i hope there's not 100 man that's the one wow i mean that's metal we we talk about things that are
metal a lot on this show that's fucking metal if i remember the one scene in that issue i remember
that issue that like very easily sticks out is when he fought because super i'm super i keep
saying superman santa claus is like just so big and he has just like hairy arms and he just looks sticks out is when he fights. I keep saying Superman. Santa Claus is just
so big and he has
hairy arms and he just looks like
he works in a steel mill all the time.
And they fight. Him and Lobo
have a fist fight.
I can't remember who the artist
is, but he loved
having Lobo punch someone
and an eyeball
flying out.
Oh my God.
Like Mortal Kombat style.
He like punches Lobo,
Lobo punches Santa Claus and Santa Claus's eye flies out.
And then I think it's like an icicle or something.
Like Santa Claus pulls it out and he's like,
time to die.
You naughty son of a gun.
And then he's like, goes after you naughty son of a gun and then he goes after him
it's so over the top
that is the movie I want to see James Gunn
do in the new DC movie
you bring in the Jim Hopper
Santa from Violent Night
and you have on your face Jason Momoa
boom
your new Alien vs. Predator right there
Lobo vs. Santa
and it's funny that you were saying
superman for santa because dc also had a comic in 2008 i think it was their 2008 2009 holiday special
where they basically gave santa superman's origin story and they were like oh yeah like santa came
from another planet he crashed down a farm couple him in. He wanted to do something with his life.
He became Santa.
And then this is fucked up.
After he dies, Santa, unfortunately, I guess, passes away in this story.
Constantine goes, finds his ashes, and snorts them like they're fucking cocaine for eternal life.
Bob.
Wait.
Call it.
It's metal.
It's metal.
That's metal. It's metal. That's fucking metal. It's metal. That's metal.
It's metal.
That's fucking metal.
It's metal.
That's metal.
Snorting Santa's ashes?
It's as metal as it gets.
It might be the most metal thing I've ever heard in my life.
I remember when this issue came out, and I was like,
I don't need to read that.
You're like, what?
What were they on?
Who snorted Santa's ashes before they wrote that?
I didn't even know Constantine was in it.
Wow.
I remember when this came out.
I think these are the same thing.
I could be confusing it, and there could be another story where Constantine snorts Santa's ashes,
and another one where they did the origin.
But I think they were connected, the way the guy was talking about it in the video, at least.
Huh.
But those two things individually definitely happened.
I can find this now.
That's extreme.
That is so extreme.

right now against the better side.
Yeah, they're letting everyone go, huh?
I just remember Robbie's a Yankees fan.
They're rebooting the universe like it's James Gunn, huh?
This is – I have no words, dude.
I have no words.
We're going to like – I have no – if we lose this – if we lose Rafael Devers, I might quit words, dude. I have no words. You're going to like – I have no –
If we lose this –
If we lose Rafael Devers, I might quit watching baseball forever.
Wow.
I didn't mean to sneak attack you like that, Jose, but I remember you did.
It's okay.
You called out the Mets the other day.
You're like, fuck the Mets.
And I was like –
Yeah.
I was like, what the fuck was that, Jose?
That's so funny.
Yeah, it's so funny yeah it's so funny um another dc special uh where green lantern once falls into
like a winter winter wonderland he not only finds santa but he finds scrooge and he finds like the
imagination of what people think charles dickens is so it's like not charles dickens but it's what
people envision him to be and And he talks to him.
And this one was one of my all time favorites that DC did.
And in 1997 special,
it was revealed that Santa successfully delivers one rock of coal,
dark side every single year.
So like he,
there's like a whole montage of him,
like stepping through all of these traps,
almost like he's Mario and a Bowser's castle or something. and he's like jumping over lava getting through laser rooms and then he
just gives dark side like a piece of coal and he's like that's for you and he like gets the
fuck out of there so i thought there's a lot of really there's a lot of really funny uh mini
because that one the one you're describing is like two pages if i remember correctly yeah there's a
lot of funny dark side ones like that but it's drawn like jack kirby style um another crazy one is
harley quinn once goes into santa's brain to fight off the demons that he's been repressing
for staying so jolly over the years and he has like true like big joker looking demons in his
brain so she has to like ward him off for him and then the final
one there's a recent comic where black adam kind of creates santa in a weird like goes back in time
finds this nicolas guy and convinces him to do it i couldn't even begin to understand that one but
it seemed to be the most recent dc santa appearance's all they had for DC Santa stuff in the video.
Yeah, it's Santa Claus pops up every now and then.
Normally, when that happens, Jose is like,
come on, guys, what are we doing here?
Santa Claus pops up every now and then.
What a life I was in.
Is he used better by Marvel, in your opinion?
Is he used better by one or the other, Marvel or DC?
Because I got a lot of Marvel projects I could run down here, too, no i mean it's not even like they i like some of the stories are
good like but i personally i like if santa claus is using a comic book i like it when he's
like the dark side thing where he's still like just funny like i don't need murdery Santa Claus every month. You don't need Lobo ripping out his intestines.
See, but if it happens, I like the stark.
I like the stark.
When I saw that cover, it's just such a striking image that I need to read more.
Because you never think of Lobo.
When Black Adam did the Superman thing, I mean the Santa Claus thing, it was just like I don't like the time. Time travel the superman thing i mean the the santa claus it was
just like i don't like the time like time travel itself is just crazy to me in the comic books
but i'm like because also black adam is just such a weird character in general it's just it's
whatever but yeah when santa claus dead too like did you see the rock unfollowed at black adam
that's what i heard oh yeah oh rock the rock has been holding on to black
adam for 20 years you know like he was telling us 2007 2007 i'm getting this movie made i promise
this movie will come out like and he unfollows that account after all these years because of the
whole mishap with henry cavill james gunn all that stuff now that people are the snyderverse people
are hashtag fire james gunn all over shocking like of course this would happen of course
people listen i'm i'm sorry if there's snyderverse fans that listen to this podcast i'm not trying to
disrespect the movies or zack snyder or whatever they're not for me they're for you at this point
we gotta move on.
Like it's that meme of the backpack hanging on by string.
And it's like, dude, let it go.
I'm trying.
I know this is like something every comic book,
like villain probably gets into at one point or here,
or I guess a character.
And this happens in like story arcs.
I almost want to take the insane social media following
to promote our brand. You know what I mean? So I kind of want to become the insane social media following to promote our brand.
You know what I mean?
So I kind of want to become the Snyder.
We become the voice of the Snyder.
It's just a,
just,
but this is going to somehow and poorly where we're getting murdered by the
Snyder.
But there's,
I don't want to say they're so crazy.
Cause they'll get mad at me for that.
They're very vocal.
They're so crazy that they'll clip this and there'll be like new public
enemy.
Number one.
And it's almost like the Jersey Jerry, the Rico armies like they'll send hits on us online hits meme hits
where they'll meme us to death i can only imagine what james guns mentions look we don't want to
start a meme war no you know we just want to grow the pod we don't want to ignite any meme wars now
let's get into santa in marvel comics now this is going to excite Clem. One of his
first appearances was in an X-Men comic where the X-Men are looking at their dashboard and they have
all of the mutant sightings. And then all of a sudden, the most powerful mutant ever registered
goes across their screen. And it's Santa in the Marvel Comics. A lot of the time that he's been
brought up, they call him a mutant, which is kind of funny to me.
And I like that idea.
He has a couple powers in the Marvel universe.
He can sense who is naughty or nice right away.
He could just look at you.
He knows if you're naughty or nice.
He could resize objects without the use of Pym particles.
He can turn people into toys.
That's a fucking cool power for Santa to have.
He's like, boom, you're an action figure teleport obviously he could create snow and he becomes much much stronger on christmas eve
so it's like werewolf with a full moon like once he's on christmas eve or christmas
thanos ain't fucking with sam i love it so i like that a lot santa's reindeer were possibly
one off a poker match with odin so that's kind of like
they give him the han solo millennium falcon thing there i love that yeah there's another
interesting episode with odin it might be the same one honestly um where like like centuries
or thousands of years ago odin like like basically gives toys to like kids overnight and they kind of allude that like odin started the
legend of santa claus by accident which makes sense white yeah white beard white hair right
like i like odin and santa knowing each other being old war buddies or whatever they were
i like that yeah it's great um santa has teamed up with howard the duck multiple times oh yeah
that one's a that's uh when i think of santa claus in the marvel universe teamed up with howard the duck multiple times oh yeah that one's like that's
uh when i think of santa claus in the marvel universe it's always howard the duck really
yeah really for sure because it's because it's it's like how are the ducks like just the aesthetics
of howard the duck with santa claus i think just fit yeah uh like there's one where like santa
if i remember correctly because it's been a while,
it's just like so disillusioned by just like mankind.
It's very much,
you know,
remember like year without a Santa Claus,
like just like over it and like quit it.
And then that's where you get the,
like,
I'll have a blue Christmas without you song.
It's like,
he just becomes so disillusioned with life that he just like sells his entire like
operation to like terror to hydra essentially and then like howard is like written down as well yeah
yeah literally yeah he like the hydra exactly i remember this oh like this is to me this is it's
not the best but like the similar with like holiday specials in the dc world when i think
of like christmas there are better marvel comics that take place around christmas but specifically
santa i think of this just absurd howard the duck storyline selling santa selling his workshop to
hydra in the real world is selling your workshop to nazis which is just so funny the concept of
that in a kid's book like this and another crazy concept,
but one that they went with in a Deadpool comic is that Santa was like this
strung out,
like horrible guy who the kids hated.
So the kids started a go fund me and raised money for Deadpool to come kill
Santa.
And I think he does it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I remember when this one came out
there's like an image
there's an image of santa claus like like like super strung out and he's like naked and he has
his hat on he's like like standing in front of a fireplace i'm like because i'm not as people that follow me for the last
ever however i'm not the biggest deadpool fan so the second deadpool is introduced in a comic book
i tread lightly like i'm like let's all dip my toe into this and if it's and this one was so
out of control that i kept reading it i believe it's called like oh what's the name of it like tinsel's theft or some tinsel
swindle it's some dumb name and it's like yeah like christmas like christmas comes and there
are just no presents so then they like get deadpooled like to they just put out a hit
on santa claus the dead blast like go to the north pole and confront santa claus let me ask
you this jose we know you're not a big fan of the boys comics you're
not a big fan of Deadpool is there something about the style of like inner jokes on superheroes the
meta jokes the fourth wall breaks that you shy away from do you think it's a similar thing that
you don't like about both or no not necessarily I don't think that's a good question. I never thought of it like that.
I'm not a big Rob Liefeld fan in general.
So anything he creates, I'm just like barf.
Just barf right in the bag.
Colin, Rob Liefeld, all those cats from the 90s that crashed the comic book market.
The Boys is just like a whole...
Yeah. the comic book market um the boys is just like a whole market yeah it's it's what like clam you
collect you collect cards i right we've had this conversation yeah so a lot of people will buy
cards to resell them like they'll sit on them and they'll resell them so during the 90s they like
variant cover starts to become things specifically in like 90 when they relaunched the X-Men with Jim Lee.
Like that's the one that a lot like they based off of that one had five covers.
And if you got all five, you could put them together and make one big splash page.
You guys have all seen it.
I had that.
That was when I was just getting into comics.
It was like, welcome into the club, buddy.
Capitalism or taking all your money right so people would buy all five now that's one issue it's the same issue just with like four or five different covers
so that obviously was a way to game the system into buying kids buying comic books same as
like around this time comic books because it had been like 30 40 years from all these other heroes that come out that people were now starting to sell
their old comic books for a lot of money like amazing fantasy 15 whatever action comics one
detective comics 27 like all of these ones so then when superman died in the 90s they came out
with that issue and you might not like comic books but you're
starting to see people sell their old comic books for a lot of money so people just bought death of
superman like can't like just bought like 12 issues because i'm like well in 30 years this
will be worth something but the problem is when you keep buying them dc goes well we have to make more so
then they just kept making them and they flooded the market and now you could buy an original
unopened death of superman mint condition it's like 50 bucks it's not worth a comic shop in
america has it on the wall right and it's so then like the market just just plummeted because people were buying
them not to have them but to resell them and it's it's similar with the oh what's the second release
of the star wars action figures like the original star wars yeah jose you're really you're really
fucking me up with this right now because like the original
star wars the original star wars are worth so much money and then when the second line came out
people were like let's buy them all and then they released characters that are just so irrelevant
and they just flooded the market and now they're just not worth nothing now i'm like my brother
did that he bought all the original the second wave the power of the force once he said i'm
buying these i'm keeping them in the box he put them right then and he now has an eight-year-old
son and like every christmas and his birthday he goes up to the bin he takes out a big chunk of
them and he's like all right this chunk is for this year's christmas because he loves star wars
they're brand new figures but they're not worth anything that but then at the end of the day
they're action figures for kids and you want these kids to play with them but now they're just worth all this money like count like i saw this week
that one-fourth of the toy market is now adults that's that's one it's not and like collecting
them is fun and like i buy comic books because i love comic books not to resell them it's when
people go into the comic books this is just a whole long tangent if you just go into the comic book to resell them it just ups the price and then
it just kind of screws the people that want the comic yeah if that makes sense are you anti like
cgc comics because you can't read them no I mean not at all like I have friends who just buy those
all the time but they just they want them yeah like they want i want like i don't know which
one i want yet i think i want like just one for a wall that looks and not even like an expensive
issue just like a cover that i like you know right and i don't have nothing against like the
collecting or the grading or anything like that um i have a lot like i said i have a lot of friends
that they want them for like their collection they're not... I have a comic book somewhere up here called Memories.
It's by the guy who wrote Akita.
It has no connection to it.
But there's not a lot of copies in English.
I've done your show.

Now I want to talk about the humor verse,
which I hadn't heard of until today,
but apparently Marvel has a humor verse.
Earth 9047 is stories that take place in the What The series.
So they have What If, and then they have What The,
and What The is just straight up jokes and stuff.
So like in this Santa was kidnapped by Hitler to lower the American morale during World War Two and Captain America had to go save him.
And it's like drawn in a very comedic like it almost looks like it could be like a robot chicken or like an adult swim show.
But yeah, I love the idea of what the and what if like what the should be a rated r uh
animated show on adult swim oh yeah there's uh this is where you get santa doom which like dr
doom is santa claus yeah in this one yeah that one's like santa has to put on a dr doom mask
yeah yeah and there's the really famous picture
that everyone has seen on the internet
where it's just like,
because Doom's whole joke is like
when he says, I'm Doom,
it's always in a different font.
And it's just like,
I am Doom and it's just saying,
it's just Dr. Doom
with like all of his toys
and like a white thing.
It's very funny.
It's the, what the series is,
is a fun read if no one's ever read it
is that uh like it's not still ongoing is it that is a good question i don't know i have no idea off
the top of my head but like there's a there's enough out there that you could read find some
back in the day that seems like the kind of thing they could even like boot up is i don't want to
say digital comic because i know that's the thing killing comics in a lot of ways but like that's one of those things that could be
a two tweet thing that someone does on twitter every day and you put up a comic and like it
could make us all crack up it's almost like the uh what should have happened or how it should have
ended you know that channel on youtube those little cartoons reminds me of that in a lot of
ways there's also another there's a very funny universe where in the marvel comics do you remember like
back in the day like 80s 90s i'm sure you guys have seen them they would do an ad but it would
be like a comic strip so it'd be like buy your jiffy lube and it would be like superman like
fixing a car and be like seven pages hostess treats would do that and it would always be like superman with
or spider-man or wolverine or captain america would like save the day and then he'd like
eat a hostess treat or like hostess treats would be stolen there are so many ads for that
that that it's is now its own universe the hostess the hostess treat universe is now its own universe. The hostess tree universe has its own designated.
I don't know the number, but that is a thing.
Like there's one where it's like Spider-Man is like,
he comes home to Mary Jane and goes,
sorry, I'm late, MJ, I was saving the day.
And she's like, it's all good.
I just passed the time by eating my hostess Twinkies
and stuff like that.
All right.
We've been talking about the My my mom's basement live show forever.
If we one day do a live show,
we might have to like hand out Twinkies to everyone in the audience and then
break down the hostess universe on a big screen.
Oh yes.
Without question.
So much fun.
There has to be an,
uh,
what was it?
Oxy pads.
There has to be an Oxy pad.
Cause that,
that was every fucking comic book.
There was like six fucking, I, I, when I see the bottle, I just go that was every fucking comic book there was like six
fucking i i when i see the bottle i just go right back to every comic book i ever read because
that's who was reading the comic books 12 year old kids with pimples everywhere i remember seeing a
lot of got milk in my comics yes oh yeah for sure like you see like the celebrities are like the
milk mustache yeah oh yeah without question austin you know and i was like yeah that's my guy um this one was funny as well i think this was maybe the last one
i had written down for the marvel universe scrolls once replaced santa's reindeer and to get around
he needed to borrow the infinity gauntlet from the illuminati
this is what i've not read that's great yeah i think that was a more recent one too because
like the at least the artwork from it looked very recent i was like holy oh that's so good
place the reindeer and he's like let me hit up the illuminati get that gauntlet from him
i don't know why they even had it that one is good that one is really good do you i would love
if like santa had like a moment in his head where he's like if i snap my fingers all everyone on the naughty list will just disappear off the world and resources will
be a lot more easy to get like it's not a bad story arc bob although it seemed like in a lot
of the santa stories like santa was right on the edge of defeating someone at the end and then he
was like it's christmas get out of here you know obviously um there was a christmas movie being planned for hbo max and i'm not sure if it was
one of the things that got cut at this point i almost assume that it is because it seems like
everything was cut at some point but last year they were saying they were going to do a damian
wayne animated movie that was basically home alone where it was like the criminals were attacking
like all of batman's rogue gallery's gonna attack wayne manor on christmas and damian wayne would
have to fight him off with booby traps and i loved that concept so much i hope that does get made
somewhere along the line that's fun that would be a lot of fun see that's what christmas is like
i have like a bunch of like of my favorite christmas comics and none of them involve santa it's just like superheroes around the holidays which that's what i like can you throw
some of those out as a recommendation um i know obviously i didn't alex ross do a superman santa
thing that people like that's i think that's just like a like a calendar or like splash thing i
don't think it was a whole famous picture of him like holding yeah that i think that's just like a like a thing you can buy has like a poster but i don't know don't call me on
that um some of the other ones like famously obviously there's the long halloween which
obviously every episode every issue is a holiday the christmas one into the new year's one are my
two favorite back to back i think it's issues three and four it's like
issue three it's joker uh it's it's just all about the joker like harvey den buys his wife a new
house and then he walks in and he sees foot tracks on the ground and he's gonna look at the new rooms
upstairs then he goes into the the living room and the joker is like screwing in the light bulbs and like quoting the grinch
and at the beginning of the page he's like stealing toys or presents from like a family
he's like tied up so it's just joker being joker and obviously there's the back ends like
the holiday killer is killing people and then uh it goes into the next issue where batman
and joker are fighting.
Joker has like a propeller plane flying around Gotham on New Year's and Batman defeats him on the clock tower right at midnight. That one is like probably the more popular one because it's serious with the hints of comedy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There's awesome.
Exactly.
That's I think the most popular one.
There's Batman Noelel that is very
recent and it's it's also about the joker but it's sort of a reimagining and the art is in i don't
know the artist name the art is incredible the art is the best part of it but it's sort of a
reimagining of a christmas carol but with batman so the narrator is like calling him scrooge
and and like tiny like one like the main bat like there's like this no-name henchman whose son's
name is tim it's supposed to be tiny tim and superman plays the shows up and he's sort of
the ghost of christmas present or past and catwoman is one of them
and the joker is the three ghosts it's like catwoman superman and the joker and then he
saves the day and uh he gives this henchman like his like a giant tree and all these toys and a
job that one is very very good that one i think is the best batman like that one is very, very good. That one, I think, is the best Batman. That one is a proper Christmas special,
and it's one graphic novel.
And then there's Spider-Man Tangled Web,
which takes place on Christmas,
where Spider-Man is fighting the Vulture,
so Peter Parker is late to the Christmas party.
And then he shows up, and he's just so...
He's sick and tired, and he just passes out.
That one is also by Darwin Cook,
who is one of the greatest comic book writers
and illustrators of all time.
There's the Hellboy Christmas special,
which is six pages,
where some woman's daughter disappeared into the woods
five years ago, and he goes to find her on Christmas
because the mom's dying.
Then he finds her in some crypt,
obviously like possessed.
And he gives,
he gives her,
her,
the mother's final Christmas present.
And then it like snaps out of it.
And then obviously like there's a giant fight with a demon.
And then she goes to rest.
And I think there's a,
a phenomenal one called,
I think it's called metropolis mailbag
where superman goes every year to the post office and kids would write to santa but they also write
to superman so like there's like there's this cool scene where superman opens the door and there's
just mountains of letters for him and him and lois go through all of them and some of them are like
there's this one like there's this one
like there's this holocaust survivor who's like you know i never thought i had anything in life
and i was ready prepared to die but like i just found out my sister survived too and she's in
germany like can you can you make this happen superman's like i'll be back and like flies to
germany flies her back to metropolis like, so he's like granting wishes,
but then like he realized like there's this one where this kid goes,
oh,
my dad has a brain tumor and I know you have heat vision.
Could you go save him?
And so Superman goes,
but then he,
the dad had died like 30 minutes before Superman got there.
But then the mom is like,
you know,
it's okay.
But then like,
it's like a very,
you've seen Jerry Maguire, mom is like you know it's okay but then like it's like a very you've seen jerry mcguire the movie yeah you know when the kid like yells it's that jerry mcguire in the
beginning which is actually i just learned that's that's drake bell from drake and josh which is
very that's a trip too um it's like similar to that scene but then like the mom calms him down
but then there's another person dying across the country who needs a new
heart.
And like this guy's heart.
And so Superman flies the heart.
And so they use this kid's dad died,
but then the heart saves someone else.
And then you brought up at the beginning when Superman has to fly Santa's
sleigh around.
So the daily planet in this issue does like a toy drive or and like they get
like a santa claus to come in and give out toys like orphans or something but there's a strike
or something because it's the 90s and there's always a strike in the comic books and so they
couldn't get a santa claus and they couldn't get toys so superman goes to Star Labs, who is,
which is like the shield of the DC world or sort of Cadmus is also kind of
that thing.
But Star Labs is like the lab place.
And he convinces the scientists to like build this animatronic Santa Claus
to like bring kids.
But then he's like,
but we don't have toys.
All the department stores are closed.
So he goes,
I know a guy. So then he calls Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne's like but we don't have toys all the department stores are closed so he goes i know a guy so then he calls bruce wayne and bruce wayne's like i got you and suit and he just
goes tell he's like all bought he buys the entire department store and just gives all the toys to
kids and the superman puts on this suit that is designed for like invisibility goes to the zoo and takes all the
reindeer and then just like flies Santa into the daily planet and all the
kids get their toys.
It's great.
And then the next year is when Superman dies.
So the issue,
the Christmas issue is the justice league is now doing it.
They're reading all the things.
So like Guy gardner goes
to like reunite this family and they build the house that doomsday destroyed those are great
because it's like superheroes like reading santa claus things it's very very good those are like
the wholesome superheroes doing good that like is sometimes missing from the modern day stuff
where i agree they get gray and gritty and dark like that's the stuff we want to see the new superman do specifically superman like that's the guy to do that kind of stuff
superman captain america those kind of characters 100 there's such a great wholesome superman moment
in the justice league unlimited cartoon i was over you were gonna bring this up where they're
sitting around the table and superman's an adult at this point he's talking to the lead lines presence yeah he's talking to his parents and
they're like oh my god when he was a kid he was such a rascal we would have to wrap his presence
in lead so he couldn't see through them and he goes you mean santa did that right and he's just
like kind of like what what and it's like even so good is buying it and they're
like yes of course sweetie uh yeah it's so good that whole episode is good that whole episode is
good with like the high evolutionary or not high evolutionary uh whatever they get like the
the gorilla grad looking guy like that makes the toy with flash like uh because martian manhunter
goes to the with superman to
celebrate christmas right and he's like flying around reading kids minds and that's that is
such a good episode i'm glad you brought that up such a great series that the relationship between
batman and the rest of the justice league in that is like one of my favorite dynamics in all of
cartoons and i would be remiss if i didn't bring up the comic book called Claws
by Grant Morrison,
who's like, they're
one of the best. They're like the pinnacle.
They wrote Arkham Knight,
Haunted House on a Crooked Hill, whatever it's called,
like the Batman and Robin, Grant
Morrison run, which people to this
day revere.
He wrote this
mini, it's like six or seven issues called claws and i don't want
to give away the plot because this is a must read where it's like an origin of santa claus
but it is very like it's like batman year one meets like robin hood meets v for vendetta where
it's like santa or it's not he's not even Santa it's
like this guy like lives in a place where like goodwill is like outlawed and then he has to like
he like it's like a very gritty or middle medieval type setting where like santa claus has a sword it's like and there's like
demons involved it's very it's very interesting and it was so popular that now it was it so it's
like seven or eight issues and now every year around this time grant morrison and the and the
author put out one issue like one standalone standalone issue. So every year they do one
Christmas special with this Claus.
And it's so fun.
I think they've been doing it for four or
five years now. So like 16,
17, 18, 19. Have you read them all?
I haven't read last year's,
but they're all just
fun. Like Claus fights
demons. It's like young
Santa Claus. It's year one meets V for Vendetta, but instead of Batman demons yes so it's like young santa claus it's the it's it's year
one meets like v for vendetta but instead of batman and v it's santa claus it's so fun i love
that concept like i'm in on that you sold me on it it looks so sweet here i'm looking at like the
the covers right now it looks bad even the covers are like are like you want if you're walking by
like down the aisle of like floppies
and you see this guy and it says claws and it's like super buff dude with a beard and a sword
oh you're it's like you just you stop and you're like whoa yeah whoa it's great bob i'm gonna put
it up on the youtube here so people can see this one because this was the this one just stopped me
dead in my tracks as i was browsing around. And if you know it's Santa,
it's like, that is badass, dude.
How Santa Claus began.
Yeah, he looks like he could be like Thor there.
Like that is Thor mixed with like the Revenant, you know?
Oh, yes.
Oh, yeah.
And I think,
because I watched an interview with Grant Morrison and they said that this concept came to him
while they were writing All-Star Superman, which is like the best Superman comic book of all time.
I was going to say, a lot of people are hoping that movie that James Gunn is writing is taking a lot from All-Star Superman.
Oh, my God.
One can dream.
One can dream.
But those are some of my favorite non-Santa Claus Christmas specials.
I love it.
I feel like the people are going to have a lot of
recommendations. If you're getting Amazon
gift cards or Midtown Comics
gift cards for Christmas,
go on and buy these comics.
Claws by Batman, Noel,
The Long Halloween. You've never read that.
Oh my God, that's a must. Just buy that in general.
