I am your host, Robbie Fox, along with my co-host, Clem, as always, and this week we will be breaking down some nerd news last week. This week was a much quieter week in the nerd corners and the nerd corners of the internet, if you want to call them that. But we do have some news, some exciting news. We've got some stuff to talk about, some release dates, some reviews have dropped. Clem, how we doing? We're doing pretty good, Bobo. I'd say last week was like, we got the main course, the entree. This was like a trickling. I don't know if it was a dessert. If it was a dessert, it's like a light dessert. We're not getting cakes. We're not going heavy into it. Maybe a side dish. I'm still in chain restaurant food mode ever since our dog walk draft,

which, by the way, for the people that haven't heard it, you can listen on the dog walk. Me, Robbie, Nick Tarani, Jeff Dff d low and eddie did a chain restaurant draft where he built a dish you know entree appetizer bread uh dessert side dish and eddie is still mad to this day that spoiler we voted him off he he was heated about i said we were on the rundown i was like anything you want to talk about in the after show was like yeah i want to talk about how you guys voted me on my own fucking show. I was like, whoa.

I mean, to be fair, I think I probably should have been voted off, at least seeing the replies and what everyone else thought. I think in the poll, I got like 2%. It was a pathetic showing for me in the poll. So Eddie should have been on there. But I don't know. I'm not going to be upset about not getting voted off. That was a nice feather in my cap to get in on the poll that i wasn't an expert on i i was just looking at the board and i'm like i oh i always think it's bad for him to vote off a guest obviously frank i voted up that one time and it caused like a legit uproar so i always vote for one of the

hosts eddie was the only host sitting there and also like i'm also looking around i'm like robbie's my basement boy uh jeff d lowe i't get the the host of the dozen pissed off as playoff season approaches right nick tarani is like barstool's sweetheart essentially so it's like my zd brother you know me and ed he'll sometimes he shades my picks i have to shade him back so we kind of kept him in check so i i can sleep with it and it was nicks to win once he got um his first pick and his last pick sealed the deal like that was it yeah it was it didn't really matter who was gonna win so uh a little cross promotion here for the podcast go listen to your dog log subscribe thumbs up give any kiss on the lips next time you see him do all it was a really

fun draft is one of my favorite drafts we did in a while and also uh in a in a similar vein i did the bracket this week and we did worst fictional roommates the worst characters you wouldn't want to be your roommate we voted off you know from the whale to the incredible hulk to the kool-aid man to jared leto's joker youngeldon. There was a lot of really funny options. Jar Jar Binks was actually on there. So go check out the bracket this week. Very funny episode of that. Is Jar Jar on the list because he's a Sith Lord and you don't want to live with a Sith Lord?

You know that didn't come up. Yeah. That one user is going to just give me like five minutes of happiness there by talking about living with a Sith Lord. Not cool. Not cool at all. I thought you were going to say Jared Kanavis was going to be one of the guys, too. I'll have to reference all the Jared Karabas variants now in the Barstool universe to get DK partner.

Yep. Hashtag DK partner for sure. Speaking of happiness, you said five minutes of happiness. I'm going to say this might be five years of happiness. The first news item has brought me first new news item. I want to talk about this week is that star Wars battlefront. The classic collection will be released for Xbox, Nintendo switch and PlayStation five, March 14th. The classic collection consists of battlefront one and Battlefront 2, the original Battlefront

1 and 2. It's got the original Xbox DLC, which is Cloud City, Yavin 4 Arena, a planet called Renvar, Jabba's Palace for Battlefront 1, Hero Assault will be playable on all ground maps, which it wasn't before, which is the Hero

versus Sith mode. You play as all the best characters in the game and kit fisto and asajj ventress will both be in the game i cannot wait for this when i tell you battlefront 2 i've been playing for almost 20 years now i have legitimately been playing it consistently whether it's on xbox playstation 2 my psp the remastered on regular xbox or whatever version is available right now on xbox i had an emulator on my mac for a while it is a timeless game where i've been playing against the computer for almost 20 years because it's that fun the fact that they're now opening opening the online servers back up and making a 64 player online game i believe cross platform and everything

this is all of my dreams answered thank the maker battlefront is back and i will be playing with the basement boys and girls we're going to link up we're going to find a way to stream this i want to be playing with as many stools as possible imagine 64 basement dwellers in one battlefront arena or, you know, galactic conquest mode. I can't wait for this. I sent you the like tweet or whatever when I saw it. And I was like, is this the one? Is this your game? Because this I'm old and like I had a different set of Star Wars games.

I remember the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games, but there was like other games that I played that were like, I don't know if they're first person shooters that i liked i didn't like love them and i missed the battlefront series altogether that was right after i like graduated college so i'm probably playing a couple sports games and you know just being a subhuman basically at that point of your life so you know i'm starting to work and stuff like that so video games start getting cycled out of my life at that point. I'm kind of excited. Like, I feel like I have to like, just because I'm in the basement with my boy here, I got

to, I got to get it. And maybe one of the kids, like it strikes with them. And obviously everything is being, so is this basically the old games and they're just slapping the new graphics on it? Or is it complete different stories and everything? Do we know how exactly everything's going? So it's a kind of, it's not completely new graphics on it or is it complete different stories and everything do we know how exactly everything's going so it's a guy it's not completely new graphics they're upping the scale a little bit but it seems like the graphics look pretty similar to the original game so it is

just the original two games that they're putting on and if you own it on xbox already which i do i think they'll be giving a code where it's actually going to be cheaper to get the classic collection everything within it. I do think this is the perfect kind of game you could play with your daughter. And like, it's pretty simple control-wise. That's why I love it so much. You know, they released two Battlefront games

in 2015 and 2017. They're a little too hard for me, which I feel like pathetic for saying that as a nerd. But I don't know. There's just something about it. I play online. I go fucking one in 62. It's like the craziest thing I've ever.

I'm literally like a real life battle droid. Like you could slice through my like butter and I can't do anything about it. The original is not complicated at all. The gameplay is very easy. The gameplay is so much fun. There are maps where you can literally go from shooting people with your blaster to hopping in an x-wing going into space and then landing on a star destroyer getting out and then fighting people

on the star destroyer like it was so ahead of its time the dog fighting isn't too hard which is always a pleasure because some dog fighting games are incredibly hard the inverted fucking controls and all that shit um and when you play as one of the heroes or one of the big villains, Darth Vader, you feel unbeatable. The only thing better than that is when you kill one of the big villains as like a random rebel or something. You're like, oh my God, I took him down. It's also not too violent.

So if you got kids out there, if you're in the basement with kids, there's no blood in the game or anything. When you like kill a hero or villain or whatever, they just drop to their knees and like fade away so it it is definitely a game i recommend parents getting and getting their kids into star wars through this because man this helped get me into star wars as much as i am like some of my best nights were playing this game with my friends so i'm looking at like the older games that i might have like been playing, like obviously other than like the dog fighting games, dark forces. I like had the two dark forces games.

That's got a great cover with the storm trooper on a cover. Yes. That's as soon as like that, like came all came on rushing back when I saw the title there, the terrorist Cassie, which is like the fighting game, which was pretty fun, but it like lost its Lester after a little side scroller,

like mortal combat type game, right? Yes, exactly, yeah. Yeah. And then I don't know if I had Knights of the Old Republic or what, but it was like, and then, you know, there was also Shadows of the Empire. So at that point, and what was the one that Rogue Squadron, I had Rogue Squadron for GameCube, GameCube criminally underrated system in my humble opinion.

So I think I kind of hit like a Star Wars like oversaturation oh and then also let's be honest the prequels came out and kind of killed a little bit of my love for it so I have this like complete it was like uh oh that looks cool new Star Wars game not even close to my radar I guess I'm just gonna have to jump in with two feet here and uh for nothing else to stream with Bob Fox, especially because you're an Xbox guy. I'm a PS5 and Switch guy. So there's not a lot of time to be some overlapping. This might be one of them as long as it's cross platform. Well, I'll be getting it on the Switch for sure, because I need to be playing this on every subway

ride, every plane, every train I take for the rest of my life. I mean, I would literally play it on PSP all the time. I still own it onsp my psp doesn't work unfortunately but now i have a portable battlefront back in my hands i couldn't be happier about this and you mentioned the prequels there's rumors that we're going to get an acolyte feature trailer behind the scenes little thing attached to the phantom menace re-release in may the The Acolyte debuts, I believe June 5th is the reported date that that's coming out, which is sooner than, you know, it's going to sneak up on us, sooner than you would expect.

I'll be seeing the Phantom Menace in theaters. I can't say the same for you. I saw that. Oh, it's 25th anniversary. Is that right? It's 25th anniversary? Oh my God. Yeah. I think you can go in the theaters and be let down all over again and i'm like ah chris like that's cute for you to write i actually would

be living it all over again you are not exactly you know he's not the same age as me so he probably didn't if i don't think he would have been able to really live it the first time so yeah uh i will i'm passing unless there's like unless we special editions it and you know i see darth jar jar you know talking to the emperor on the side other than that i'm gonna have to pass on it now i think we've talked about this in the past is battlefront the game or one of the games that you always buy like whenever you get a new system they inevitably have like the throwback is that the one that you always buy. Like whenever you get a new system. They inevitably have like the throwback. Is that the one that you always buy?

Is there any other games? Or is Battlefront the game? It's Battlefront 2 specifically. And Battlefront 1 is great. I'm glad it's actually being included in the classic. And they're not like just throwing it to the side. Battlefront 2 is just. It expands upon that in every way.

Maps, levels, characters. Modes and everything. But yeah. battlefront 2 is just it expands upon that in every way maps levels characters uh modes and everything but yeah battlefront 2 is definitely one of those games i think i've owned uh batman arkham city and arkham asylum on a couple systems now um trying to think what those games would be for me i've owned uh turtles in time on a couple systems because they always like will re-release that uh it's like a lot of the simple older games that i think i i will go back on and on every system do you have games like that uh yeah so street fighter 2 i mean i've probably bought like the five-year anniversary 10-year like they always have anniversaries and you buy it and then i think the last one i just bought

on the switch and it had like every game ever from like the original street fighter which i don't think i've ever had played before even though i was obsessed with street fighter 2 as a kid and they had like the turbo versions champion and then like i might actually when they finally got the three i was like oh my god we made it to street fighter 3 it was a very big deal robbie it was just the same fucking number every single time out. And then the other game was Phantasy Star 2, old Sega Genesis RPG that I absolutely loved. I loved the story. I loved the graphics, everything about it.

So those are the only two. And I probably have, like you said, every PlayStation version of it on the Switch. I get it on like if they released it on Game Boy Advanced, I probably had emulators, all that kind of stuff. It's on like seven different computers I own. It is one of those things. It's funny.

I feel like everyone has their game. In the comments. In the comments or tweet at us, let us know your game that you have bought every single time. And I mean, I play it like I'll play it for like a couple hours and then I'll forget about it and play like new games like I should be playing. But it's just something like it's like your little binky. It's like a comfort game yeah yes exactly lego star wars the original when they did the complete saga that was one of those games for me i think i owned the complete saga on ps2 xbox xbox 360 psp and maybe like a game boy like that was because that's

six movies worth of levels that's you could get a little variety in that game, you know? So that was definitely one for me as well. Now this feels bigger than comfort games. So what they're doing with this is because they're going to have online capable. Yeah. Yeah. The online servers being back is everything.

Like I had friends that I literally haven't talked to in months, like text me, like, we got to get the band back together.'m like fuck yeah we're going back to war if i could pick one okay if you could pick one other game to get this treatment an old school game to get like the servers back or whatever just kind of to bring back those those nostalgia pangs do you know what it would be do you have like something that jumps right out i actually do have uh like two games that jump right out both for the original xbox one was a fighter pilot game just planes and shit that was called crimson skies that was sick and the other one would be mech assault which was just like you got in like it was like a mech suits that were fighting each other you could destroy the city destroy buildings and shit that and then another one for original xbox i'd

really just want this franchise to come back as the original ea fight night games some of those were fucking awesome and they try i think they've tried to make sequels like since i think round four was like the big one that i loved but yeah i would love like a good boxing game like that that was like you'd have roy jones on the cover muhammad ali right you'd like muhammad ali was rojo junior which wouldn't make sense white class is all different but you could at least do it yeah i used to love that and i'd be so bad boxing games that take themselves seriously like i just want to like basically just fight you know i want a ball and it's very hard to do you're just gonna get your ass kicked by the sweet sides.

Mine, I think would be a game to bring back. I know you can play Mario Kart online with anybody and we do that. We, we, we have, we do play online on the switch. I'd love to have either 64 or I, again, I truly do think double dash was my favorite Mario Kart game on the game, on the GameCube. And it was maybe because I was in college and we just played a ton of it. But I just liked having the two characters. You had the special, like, weapons you could have.

Baby Bowser had the giant shell. And Baby, that was DK, Diddy Kong, he had the giant banana. I just loved that. And, like, that was the first time we played Baby Park. A lot of different, fun, unique things to that game that we haven't seen since. So that would probably be my version. Just being able being able to again play online with my college friends i play probably once a month if not a year because we all have kids and we'd have no fucking time to play but uh yeah that'll bring back some good memories right there isn't it funny that there's video games like that where i feel like i i know the every inch and corner of those

maps better than i know like my hometown yes as you say that i'm thinking like golden eyes another one but i feel like golden i did come out and it kind of flopped i don't know if they had the servers right i don't know if it's ever been done right i blogged about it like a thousand times when i first joined barcel every golden eye rumor that came out but i don't know if they ever made the right game. If they did, they never marketed it right. But yeah, like Mario Kart, there was times where like, we all said it.

We'd like go to sleep and you'd see, you know, DK Mountain in your fucking windows. It's like Queen's Gambit. It's like on your ceiling. It was unbelievable, dude. When video games and you're playing, shout out to anyone who's currently watching this podcast that is in a time of their life. No matter it may be maybe you know you're in school you're

post-school whatever it is i don't care i'm just happy for you that you're that's one of the best times of life you could have is just when you're playing video games so much you can see that shit on your ceiling queensgate um our next story in the marvel universe it's official avengers 5 will not be titled the kang dynasty uh hollywood reporter says marvel was moving away from kang even before jonathan majors was fired maybe due to the reception of quantumania or whatever um not totally surprising but just wanted to shout out bob gucciman here at barstool for having this prediction come true he said this maybe six months ago he was like yeah that's never coming out before any of the jonathan major stuff he's like i think they're gonna have to reassess that that movie will never come out he was right he's

fucking right so he called that before the soul charge came out yeah wow that is a hell of a hell of a take right there a plus by gucci uh it's it's kind of crazy looking back now that it's canon. Kang appeared on screen, got killed by Sylvie, got killed a thousand times by the fucking thing in Loki season two where the fucking radiation, and got killed by Ents. Like, when Kang comes back down the road in the mcu five years ten years whatever now he has to just wipe the floor he's gonna have to like yeah they need him to put some uh heroes blood on his hands to like it's like in wrestling you need to put this guy over you're gonna have

to put this guy over because he is coming in like a fucking weakling after the last uh yeah couple movies that's tough tougher can Maybe you bring him back in Secret Wars and have him wipe out a bunch of heroes and then just escape unscathed. Have him wipe out some of our favorites and have him fucking... I'm going to say something crazy. I just had something crazy come into my mind.

I just got to say it. It's an urge. Have him fucking kill Wong and we will hate this guy. I didn't want you to say, I really, really want you to say, that's how you make Kang. It's not really his fault. I told him to say it.

He said it and it did its job. I guess. That's how you make Kang Kang. You know, like if you want to make us hate him, hire that guy, Coleman Domingo, he's probably the actor to do it. He interested he's a fucking oscar nominated actor bring some prestige to that role and you know i'm not gonna say it again but have him do it

and we'll hate him again we'll feel that threat and we've we've come to this point like the wong boys you know we were talking about i don't want it to happen but realistically i know if he kills wong i'm gonna fucking hate him and that's what you need you need us to hate him you are right it's factually correct i can't argue with you i'm not gonna say i want to see it but i cannot argue with the facts you laid out very well said but i wouldn't have said it myself but you make some good points you make some very good points and like i don't even want to say this but i'm gonna say it like if they kind of just do it where it's not even a big deal he just it's like he chokes loki out like thanos does in the

beginning of infinity war you're just like exactly the stakes have been raised this guy fucking around kind of thing just that's when you knew thanos this was boss thanos this wasn't you know end of the level runs away thanos this was boss man he ain't going nowhere there's gonna be a problem infinity stones are gonna be in that call that by the end of this movie oh shit so he said it guys i i apologize i am in an i am an enabler by telling him to say it so it's on me as much as on anyone else here i'm sorry you guys had to hear that, though. I might have to put a trigger warning on the episode before this comes out. Just like trigger warning Wong. Yeah, we were just in the basement talking about our favorite video games, just having a good old time. Yeah, it all changed.

Oh, so quickly. Oh, that's Jonathan Major's fault. Not mine, by the way. Yeah, that's on Jonathan. That is. Yes. And you know what? Everyone's looking, you know, just third on the heat there.

It's all it's all. Yeah. You know And you know what? Everyone's like, yeah, you know, just throw it on the heat there. It's all his fault. You know, we'll blame Quantumania on him, too. Like, he was a real problem on set, and all the stuff we wanted to do was just because of his problems on set. So now let's just, like, take a quick, like, look at the – it's not even an autopsy, but, like, just look at, like like the injury report for the mcu and it's like they were already coming off like an impossible situation after sticking the line ending on endgame losing all those actors obviously losing you know the guy they're gonna build it around in black panther there were so many things that just went wrong the pandemic um messing up the everything that happened there everything with james gunn

like it's true and then you know you're just gonna inevitably probably have a couple like stinkers along the way compared to some of the other stuff that they had right at the end there and then you're like well at least we're gonna have kang come in and that was almost we're like you know what like this is tough but once kang shows up everything's gonna be right in and the multiverse is gonna be cool and kang just got wiped right off the multiverse has been like i don't know it was like loki and a couple like that multiverse doesn't it feel like the multiverse has kind of been a flop so far too like the spider-man stuff was cool we saw the spider-man together and the villains that was cool uh but i like dr strange i liked seeing the evil dr strange and shit. But other than that

and Loki, nothing else has really felt multiversal. Yeah, exactly. I thought at this point we'd have enough cross-pollination going on, and I think Deadpool's gonna hopefully, knock on wood, be the hammer of that all. But if it's

not, it's like, so this wasn't even the multiversal saga it was like yeah a couple dr strange scenes spider-man was cool and you know maybe some loki and some dr strange so maybe i'm just going in with too high of expectations of what i thought that was all going to be it's just like to get from where we are now to secret wars a lot has to happen yeah right a lot has to happen and kang was kind of going to be in the fucking point guard of that situation and he's got who do you want or think will be the next kind of thanos because that was kind of what everyone's calling kang i i want it to be doom i think dr doom is such a fucking cool character that they could nail with the right actor behind it and obviously

they're bringing the fantastic four in it's the perfect timing for someone like doom to come in you can't do secret wars without doom either i don't know if that was ever the plan but i would love dr doom because he's also someone who for a lot of people non-comic fans that are fans of the mcu probably didn't know who kang was unless they played like the lego marvel game whereas dr doom is pretty recognizable at this point. I think people know Dr. Doom. If you,

you know, I wasn't, you know, when I was reading the comic books, I knew of him, even though I didn't read a lot of the stuff that he was like in a lot, but he'd be like the video games. He'd fuck with Spider-Man a little bit too.

So it's like, yeah, that whole thing. So even Spider-Man fans, I think would know him. I think doom's probably the answer. I think you're going to have the X-Men. The X-Men characters kind of, the X-Men universe is so big.

There's so many characters. It's almost like let them do their own thing and they could have that big baddie, you know, interact with Doom or be a part of it. But it does feel like you kind of need a guy who's independent of the X-Men because there's going to probably be a lot of shit going on with just them.

And again, that's probably years away from all that stuff happening. So yeah, you're right. I think with the Fantastic Four coming out, the way he's involved with Secret Wars, I think Doom's probably the answer. But it sounds like Galactus is going to be the villain in Fantastic Four, right? Didn't they offer the, is that true they offered the part to him?

Reported that they offered the part to Javier Bardem, which would be fucking awesome. You want to cast a good Galactus. He's the guy. I love that. He's the guy. He's the guy. He's the guy.

He's the guy. He's the, he's the fucking quarterback. If you want to give him that. Now, who should he kill? If you want to really let people know Galactus is serious, Bob,

I haven't even seen this robot yet, but that robot Herbie that's in the poster, I know almost nothing about Herbie but i know i'm gonna love him and i know it's gonna hurt if he dies bob has just killed herbie and wong this kid needs to get battlefront in front of him soon because he's just breaking all of our hearts right now i'm sticking around with mcu news mark ruffalo did an interview recently where he said he doesn't know if a solo Hulk movie will ever happen.

He said, I'd love to do a standalone Hulk. I just don't know if that'll ever happen. He says the CGI for the character has gotten costly, even though it's come down in price over the years. He said it's just expensive if you did a whole movie like that,

which is why they use the Hulk so sparingly. I priced myself out and he laughed about it. This is something that I do think is going to happen one day. There's been all the talk about World War Hulk. I feel like they are going to do it. And maybe they're just not telling Mark Ruffalo anymore because this guy can't keep his mouth shut in interviews. That is a great theory right there.

I like that. I was going to go with the angle of I feel like he's just going to – he's like a tragic figure, very quote-unquote. I don't feel bad for Mark Ruffalo. But it's like the athlete, like dramatically, where it's like he joined the Yankees after they won the World Series and left right before they won the World Series. I think he got to be Hulk in obviously some of the biggest movies

DMC will ever have. But the solo Hulk movies from before he was hulk and then like there will be another one but it'll be after he leaves as well so it's like i just see the timing potentially fucking him there or i like your theory more i hope your theory is right but i'm i feel like there is a chance he's just gonna get screwed by this all because again there's a lot of stuff they have to cover here with all the new stuff coming in um the stuff they've already started that they can't just be like oh kang is gone don't worry about it guys they have other stuff they can't do that with and i feel like the one thing they did with hulk with his son everyone's just going to kind of

ignore that stuff like yeah she hulk didn't really happen and hey listen we there was some stuff about she hulk i liked but i was like that like i'm not itching for uh some more hulk appearances right now i'm pretty no his son too just let's let's treat him like they treated shia labeouf and indiana jones and dial of destiny let's be like yeah yeah he's not in this one yeah it just was so weird the haircut the fact that he just had mark ruffalo's face they just like dragged and dropped the hulk model on him that wasn't good the stuff in the mcu book about the original incredible hulk is very interesting because basically the studio like gave edward norton a ton of creative input and control over that movie and he was really pushing it for it to be like a longer darker movie they wound up cutting like 30 minutes out of it he was so mad

So I have to watch that again um the next story this was a cool one some concept art for a pitched batman beyond movie has surfaced um five months ago patrick harpen and yuki demers um directors on the spider verse movies walked into warner brothers and pitched a batman beyond animated movie they said before they pitched they were warned there's absolutely no way we can do a beyond movie but they loved their enthusiasm let them pitch it anyway and they said what started as a never has turned into a maybe and now they're trying to pitch their way up the company to get to james gunn and they did a very

smart strategic move here by showing three pieces of concept art that look amazing to be like maybe this will get james gunn's attention it reminds me of like ryan reynolds having the deadpool test footage leaked so they could get funding for the original movie like they put out the test footage and the fans were like this is fucking awesome why isn't anyone funding this movie boom deadpool was made like two years later. I think this has potential all over it. The animation looks very spider verse and style, but different enough.

It doesn't look as comic booky, just very neon blade runner esque. And Batman beyond is such a fucking awesome fan favorite character. Batman of the future. You get an old Bruce Wayne in there. You get ace the dog in there. You get Ace the dog in there, Terry McGinnis. I think there's potential all over this, especially now that James Gunn is saying he wants to have DC animation intertwined with the DCU. He wants to bring up DC animation.

Batman Beyond is the route. I mean, why wouldn't you ever pitch something or at least put something together? I don't know how many man hours and time it takes, but it's like even just get the no to a maybe. But with the way the Internet is, if someone catches wind of something like the way viral shit goes and how you can just get green lit or just become a star. It's like if you have something you think is awesome, like just get it out there. She's in prison with crosshair, and you see a lot of andor prison style shots even the way the empire's treating prisoners and suppressing them is very like okay we're going along the same themes here that worked on that live action show and they're really working on this kid show but it is a little more mature this season so far so i'm very excited for the season to progress i hope we get some more palpatine i just can't say that word it's like a little papal teen as you call them yeah i what i want is i want every show in star wars to have the emperor come back at some point i just wanted to be like i it to be a bit.
