Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey My Mom's Basement listeners, you can find our episodes on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube, and Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. Hello and welcome to My Mom's Basement, presented by Barstool Sports. It is Robbie, Fox, and Clem back for another Andor and Last of Us recap, here with a special guest from Screen Rant, a guy that we've both known for years now, Liam Crowley. And if you're listening on the audio feeds, not watching on a video feed, not the Liam Crowley from Barstool, our other friend also from Boston,
Starting point is 00:00:32 now living in New York City, Liam Crowley. You have so many similarities. You know what's funny? I want to tell the origin story of how me and Barstool Liam Crowley got connected. When I was in like, I want to say senior year of high school and Instagram came out with group chats, I put all the Liam Crowley's I could find on Instagram
Starting point is 00:00:48 in one group chat. And at the time, Liam Crowley from Barstool was just like an intern for Pardon My Take. And then I saw on his past like, oh, you work for Barstool, it's so cool. And this was like sub thousand followers. Oh my God, that's so funny. And then he blows up like crazy.
Starting point is 00:01:03 And I was like, I'm fucked. Like I got so much to like strive for. And now we both have a little bit of a name to ourselves. Well now he jokes, I was saying Clem in the office, Liam Crowley will be like, god damn this other Liam Crowley in New York, this guy's tall, he's in shape, he's fucking interviewing A-listers, he's got a nice job at ScreenRant putting together Thunderbolts screenings for people. I mean you've been crushing it. I appreciate the kind words from yourself and from fellow Liam Crowley But yeah, it's a funny origin of how we got connected. But yeah, it's cool to be in NYC doing the thing
Starting point is 00:01:37 He's been crushing at his coffee show every time I look on is Oh Bryce Dallas Howard's on your interview and Channing Tatum. How many Avengers have you interviewed at this point? How many Avengers have lied to me? Right now we have I have clips who's like similarly you lied to me about being a doomsday, right being in doomsday Pascal lied to me Haley Seinfeld, I think lied to me. Yeah, she I think she did day but she froze and I was like, alright It was nice. You put her on the spot. Yeah, I don't like did but she froze and I was like, all right, but it was nice you put her on the spot Yeah, I don't like to ask people questions that are like Forcing them to say something that they can't talk about but if they have addressed it previously
Starting point is 00:02:13 I'm like all the doors cracked open. Yeah, you're gonna you're gonna peek in in there and say what's going on? There's a there's a I interviewed Katie Sack off yesterday for a new movie called fight or flight and you know Star Wars is obviously A big presence on this podcast. She said recently, she was like, I have not worn the armor in 2025 when she was asked if she's going to be in Mandalorian and Grogu. And so I was like, well, it wrapped production in December of 2024. She was like, uh-huh, wow, I didn't know that. And I was like, yep, sure did. And you know, I like to ask the follow-up questions rather than be like, hey, on did. And you know, I like to ask the follow-up questions rather than be like, hey, on the spot,
Starting point is 00:02:47 are you gonna be in this movie that you clearly would have signed an NDA for? Yeah. Do you have a favorite moment so far at ScreenRant? Obviously there's been great ones. Like again, every time I look at Michael B. Jordan saying great question to you after you're talking about his first movie
Starting point is 00:03:01 after being a director, that was a great clip. Thank you. And I appreciate you remembering that one. That was, that meant a lot to me because of just like, he had done just a million interviews. Yeah. Until I kind of get that reaction of like, oh, this is actually a fresh question.
Starting point is 00:03:13 That's, that really is cool. I had a great moment with Woody Harrelson and Simu Liu for Last Breath and Finn Cole, who was also in the movie, was a trio. And in those kinds of junket settings, it depends on your time of day, because if you're first of the day, you might get energy, but you also might get,
Starting point is 00:03:30 it's 9 a.m. and we don't want to do press. If you're last of the day, they've done a million interviews, you're bound to ask some duplicate questions. And I got them right after lunch, and they were buzzing, and they gave me a lot of good will going in, and we just had a fun conversation.
Starting point is 00:03:45 I don't like doing the whole dressed up, formal question and answer. I like it to flow like a genuine conversation. And then if we get some good snippets out of it, great. And those can exist as their own clips, their own articles. But yeah, we had a good moment where I talked with Simu about his future with Shang-Chi and then Woody Harrelson with Haymitch.
Starting point is 00:04:04 And Woody said it, there was a moment in the interview where like they tried to divert from the question and like complement my suit and then I just like had a moment where I was like, same way we just want a sequel to Shang-Chi and then Woody Harrelson was like and he stays with it and that little moment meant so much to me because like they're actors at the end of the day they know how to turn it on even in interviews and the fact that they like what he saw through like I didn't let the like Glazing for lack of a better term distract me from my objective in the moment and the fact that he like noticed that it was like
Starting point is 00:04:36 You saw through kayfabe a little bit. Yeah, it's a wrestling. Yeah, like the crowd was trying to hijack this Yeah, I was like we got a match like kid's smartened up. He knows the business. They tried to Jedi mind trick your ass. And they're like, he's a little too smart for that one. Yeah, no, he was Watto on their ass. He said that those tricks don't work on me. Speaking of Watto, speaking of Star Wars, I got to say right off the bat on the podcast,
Starting point is 00:05:00 thank you to everyone that tuned into the 24 hour, May the fourth stream. Thank you to everyone that tuned into the 24 hour May the fourth stream. Thank you to Stella Blue for sponsoring it. Thank you to Clem and all of the guests for coming on. Here's a relic from the stream, the 1048 piece Lego Baby Yoda that I built at like four in the morning. I thought it would take me an hour or two.
Starting point is 00:05:19 It took me like three hours, 59 minutes. Jake Bass was in the room with me. He goes, I ran a marathon in less time it took for you to build that I was like, Motherfucker. It was a great time. It went way better than I imagined it. Like the night before I was like, what if Nick Hamilton and Jake Bass put so much work into this with me and we have like 17 concurrent viewers the whole time. I was like four in the morning. Are we gonna have anyone in the chat?
Starting point is 00:05:43 We never dropped below 100 even at four or four in the morning, are we gonna have anyone in the chat? We never dropped below 100. Even at four or five in the morning, we had 500 at certain points. The videos did way better than I thought they would. The interviews during the stream were super fun. We got Eddie to watch Empire Strikes Back for the first time. He just had the greatest observations ever. He was like, Chupacca's a mechanic. How'd he get into that line of work? And then he started talking about how he wanted Yoda to be like his downstairs tenant as a landlord He's like I just feel like this guy would be a great guy You put him downstairs you see him when he's taking the garbage out. It was great I would recommend people go back me and Nick Hamilton are gonna work on a best of I think it's gonna take us a while
Starting point is 00:06:18 There's 24 hours of footage to go through But again, just thank you to everyone that tuned in it went better than I thought it could have gone I hit a wall in the middle of the night clem got me through it I was throwing up because I had acid reflux in the middle of the night And we were drinking like the stella blue with the blue milk in it So I threw up and it was all blue and I just had to laugh at myself like the fuck is this job What am I doing right now? You blew yourself bob? Uh, shout out to you too bob I know you won't shout out to myself. Bob, shout out to you too, Bob. I know you won't shout out yourself, but anyone that does a 24-hour stream like in general,
Starting point is 00:06:47 let alone by themselves like a fucking savage deserves a shout out along with obviously like the other guys you said that helped you out. But it was when I told AJ you were still streaming the next morning, which by the way, you said I came in the middle of the night. It was like 7 a.m. It was not the middle of the night. Listen, time was, you know, just a concept at that point. Yes, so you absolutely crushed it.
Starting point is 00:07:11 And like you said, everything was great. And the listeners, the viewers, whatever you want to call them are tens. The chat was racking up fucking W's. Oh my God, the amount of donations we were getting, I almost felt bad. And Nick Hamilton had it set up. So every subscriber would hit a Darth Vader breath and every donation would hit a seismic charge.
Starting point is 00:07:28 So just in the middle of the night, I'd be like putting together this Lego set, starting to fade and then it'd be like, wah, it would wake me back up. But it was a great time. I can't promise, I'm not like, hey, 24 hour stream next week. In the middle of the night, I did tweet that.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I was like, I feel the pull to the dark side. 24 hour streams are so much fun. I might be, 24 hour stream next week. In the middle of the night, I did tweet that. I was like, I feel the pull to the dark side. 24 hour streams are so much fun. I might be a 24 hour stream guy. What's the occasion for next week? Cause this was May the 4th. Well, there is no occasion. Cause if I do another 24 hour stream, it might have to be like a year from now, May the 4th.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Like it was such a slog in the midnight hours, not the midnight hours, the three, four, five a.m. hours. I mean, I thought I was gonna die on stream at some point. So I was like, what's gonna happen here? Am I ever getting off stream? But it was a good time. We could do 12 hour streams like that. 12 hour stream in my sleep.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Like that was easy. And then you hit 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 hours. And you're like, my, you had 17 hours and you've still got seven left. And it was like, oh fuck. What did I've still got seven left and it was like oh fuck What did I sign up for here? But it was still a great time again? I would recommend everyone go check it out me and Clem did a fan film in Central Park ridiculous funny stuff And then before we get into the last of us and and or this week. I did want to touch on The Thunderbolt stuff so right off the bat
Starting point is 00:08:43 Let me say like if you haven't seen the Thunderbolts and you really don't want it spoiled, I mean, you might've gotten it spoiled because Marvel Studios is spoiling it everywhere, but maybe skip forward like five minutes in the podcast, okay? So I'll give everyone a second, but the way Marvel has changed the marketing
Starting point is 00:08:58 for the Thunderbolts less than a week after it was announced is pretty shocking. So we'll talk spoilers now. They're just revealing the title. The asterisk at the end of Thunderbolts is The New Avengers, which is the end of the Thunderbolts movie. It is like a big part of the ending, and it's just been changed everywhere,
Starting point is 00:09:15 and I feel pulled in either direction because I love the viral marketing they're doing. The videos of Sebastian Stan at the bus stop, putting the thing over. I love the copyright logo that's now on the Avengers. It's on the Avengers Twitter right now. That's great, the Twitter, the Instagram, playing into this team rivalry before Doomsday
Starting point is 00:09:32 is such a great idea, I think. It's just so soon that I can't believe, and now that we're talking about spoilers and everything, I texted Clem and I was like, they're willing to reveal the ending of the movie and they're still putting Taskmaster on all of the posters. It's crazy that they're like, we're gonna spoil that, but not that.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Yeah, Taskmaster's on the poster that says the new Avengers. Correct. I'm like, she has never been, I don't even think she was a member of the Thunderbolts. No. Like, she got killed before that was even a Thunderbolt. That's true.
Starting point is 00:10:00 It's hilarious too, because I think you mentioned, I hosted a screening of Thunderbolts in 40x at Regal Times Square Last Tuesday and it was great Robbie came Jake Bass from Barstool also came we had we had a packed house We had like 300 people which was awesome and I was under so much I don't want to say pressure maybe pressure I put on myself But like I just know how the Marvel machine works and I was like one thing I forgot to say my intro is like this goes without saying but no photos no audio recording none of that and Luckily the only person that took a photo
Starting point is 00:10:33 Messaged me afterwards and she was like, uh Is it cool if I put this on my Instagram story and it was the new Avengers? New Avengers like like title it was in the post credit scene when you have like the new A comics. I was like, no, like not only ethically, am I like no photos or like, it's ridiculous that I can just go on TikTok right now and search Thunderbolt post credit scene
Starting point is 00:10:57 and watch eight different HD videos. And I probably should admit this on a microphone, but like I remember in 2015 when Comic-Con was happening and feverishly searching Batman v Superman leaked trailer, like the age of Ultra leaked trailer and I couldn't find anything because it was so easy to take stuff down and give those pirate strikes. But nowadays it's like everything is just you can watch the full movie on tape. I'm like, this is terrible. But on top of that, I'm like, this is three days before the movie comes out.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Do not put that on your screen. It's logic. Yeah, it's a bold decision by Marvel, especially because we were talking before we started recording. I distinctly remember the Russos were on Good Morning America during the end game campaign. And it was the Monday after end game came out
Starting point is 00:11:43 and they were like, when is it safe to talk spoilers? And the Rooster said, give it two weekends. And that had been the window for theatrical movies. It was like two full weekends. After that, we're probably gonna start to put the Battle of New York, what did they call it? Not the Battle of New York, so it was 2012. Yeah, it was the Battle of Earth, didn't they call it?
Starting point is 00:12:02 Battle for Earth, Battle for upstate New York. Yeah. And it's like, they started to put those snippets in the trailers, but it's like, $76 million opening weekend domestically, it does seem like a, all right, if this thing made 150, maybe we would have changed. Yeah. But this is- You think they're worried about Sinners too,
Starting point is 00:12:20 holding so strong? I mean- Like Sinners coming back to IMAX next week, kicking Thunderbolts out. I love Sinners. It's great, it's awesome. Sinners is, holding so strong. I mean. Sinners coming back to IMAX next week, kicking Thunderbolts out. I love Sinners. It's great, it's awesome. Sinners is an original property,
Starting point is 00:12:29 and it was made with, I don't wanna say this was not made with tender love and care, but Sinners is like, that's Ryan Coogler's baby. Yeah. He put it in his contract, he's getting the rights back in 20 years. And I mean, I liked when there are multiple successful movies at the box office, but in the state of movies
Starting point is 00:12:44 nowadays, really only one movie can control a big company. It's fucked up, yeah. So, I don't know, Thunderbolts will still be a success. It'll do massive overseas. And I guess this is now the time to drum up the hype, because we are a year away from doomsday. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:59 Like, think about how clear our path was to Infinity War as far back as like Thor the Darkworld when when stones are getting introduced that's five years in advance now we have one calendar year and Fantastic fours in the summer. There's an I don't think there's anything in between Fantastic fours and Jooms. Ironheart which yeah, it seems like they're just dump on Disney plus that the word is like they're just like We're gonna sweep this one under the rug. Yeah worries me a little bit. In this era of like, people kinda getting back on the Marvel train and saying Marvel's back, it worries me that they're gonna see Fantastic Four
Starting point is 00:13:31 and be like, oh my God, we're so back. And then Ironheart, I mean, it could be great. Who knows, they're saying Mephisto, Clem, we might be getting Mephisto and Ironheart finally. Isn't it Sacha Baron Cohen? I think it is, yeah. They're saying Sacha Baron Cohen, Mephisto, I think Anthony Ramos is in it. Yep, he's the hood. Um yeah, so like I don't know, it could be good. I mean, Clem, you're an Ironman guy. Are you excited for Ironheart?
Starting point is 00:13:53 Not really. I am excited for Mephisto. I am an Ironman guy. So we'll see. Uh even you saw the Eiger comments this morning where he like, this is proof. I don't think he knew this was going to happen. I'm sure he's very happily. He's happy it did happen though. The Eiger comments being he's like Thunderbolts is the perfect example of us going quality over quantity. It's just any
Starting point is 00:14:16 project that was still in the quantity over quality. I still I have to see it actually on the screen be good before I'm going to get excited about it. So, but hey Thunderbolts has given us the H word Bob Hope. We're going to be talking a lot of hope. Hope you didn't go for a different H word there.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Yeah, hope is a good one. I was like, what did they give us the H? I thought you were going Hitler there. Oh, that's what Dave calls it. Dave is like the H man, you know, that's the H man. The H word in this house. AJ doesn't even say hell. So he just says H word. So when he's he's singing, have you taught him the H man, you know? That's the H man. The H word in this house, AJ doesn't even say hell.
Starting point is 00:14:45 So he just says H word. So when he's singing his songs. Have you taught him the H-E double hockey sticks? No, because I just don't want to hear that every single day. I mean, he says the word H word a hundred times. I don't need to hear that a thousand times. Are you surprised that they did this? Like, obviously we were talking about it.
Starting point is 00:15:02 We were surprised that they didn't even wait a week. But do you think this was always in the plans with the asterisk did you think Marvel marketing was like hey the week this comes out we're gonna reveal new Avengers to the world I wonder if it was always the plan to get it done this quickly I would have said again too I thought after this weekend I think it's fine it's kind of the spoiler whatever you want to call it, rule. So the fact they did it this soon, but maybe like they did some, you know, some dudes crunching numbers and it's like, if we really want to hit turbo mode on this for the following weekend,
Starting point is 00:15:34 let's just rip it off. Now I don't know what other movies are coming out. Liam Bright has like the entire like forecast of the box office for everything coming out, but maybe they're just trying to cash in this weekend instead of waiting another week or two and you know more competition May actually will be busy because karate kid legends will be a big deal. Yep, mission and possible Lilo and stitch. Yeah. Oh my god. Yeah, geez and Lilo and Stitch is also Disney So yeah, there I guess there is a little bit I think Lilo and Stitch in Mission Impossible are same day That's a Barbenheimer all written all over it Memorial Day weekend. Yeah, I believe yeah, that's gonna be and they're saying Lilo could make a bill
Starting point is 00:16:10 Which is oh, yeah Lilo and Stitch like the fan base for that is insane Yeah mission press tour has been they just were in Japan and I think they they're premiering at Cannes Film Festival I saw that next week and then they have a premiere in New York City coming up like that. There's an aggressive I mean, it's it's TC's last one. Yeah. So, I mean. Allegedly. That's what they say.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Allegedly. But yeah, I'm a huge Mission guy so I will be there opening weekends. Also at Cannes, Dogma is returning to Cannes Film Festival for the first time since 1999 when it was first in there because they got the rights back. Kevin Smith has been touring with it so So love to see Kevin Smith, uh, making waves again. Before we get into the last of us, let's tell everyone about game time. One of our favorite sponsors here in the basement. They don't make it easy to buy concert tickets these days.
Starting point is 00:16:53 You got to sign up for the pre-sale. You get in the queue by the time you make it through. The best seats are gone. Going to a concert should be about the show itself. Not waiting in a virtual line. Lucky for me, I always use game time. The official ticketing partner of forestal virtual line. Lucky for me, I always use Game Time, the official ticketing partner of Barstool Sports. Not only for concerts though, concerts, shows,
Starting point is 00:17:07 Broadway shows, comedy shows, WWE events, AEW events, anything, I mean, you could get like Francis Ellis tickets on Game Time. We looked it up one day, you could go see Francis with a discounted code on Game Time. What are you waiting for? Take the guesswork out of buying tickets with Game Time, download the Game Time app, create an account, and use code MMB for $20 off your first purchase.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Terms apply. Again, create an account or deep code MMB for $20 off. Download the Game Time app today. What time is it? Game Time. You could go to Nick Celtics tonight. How about that? We've got a couple of Nick's fans on the podcast and we got a Celtics fan on the podcast. Yep. Liam's from Boston. He's a Celtics guy. I wore my green. I wore my green. Robbie wore his green. Oh, unfortunately. Well, I got, I got new tattoos last night and they're all covered up so I didn't want to like be taking things off and on. So I was like, I'll put a hoodie on over them. The issue is it's a thousand degrees in this room. Shout out game time
Starting point is 00:18:03 once again. All right. We're going to start off with the last of us this week. Liam you've seen, have you seen the whole season? I've seen up to episode six so I haven't seen the finale. Okay so you're saving the finale for live? Well they didn't send me the finale. Oh they sent out screeners without the finale included. Yeah I'll give some backstage insight.
Starting point is 00:18:22 The last of us came to South by Southwest, which I did a screening. We had an awesome like interview setup room at the festival. Highly encourage anyone to like go back and watch. I was watching those that he had Pedro and he was like, have you talked to Robert Downey Jr. And he said, yes. He's like, yeah, he sent me a selfie earlier today. Yeah, I continue to pester him.
Starting point is 00:18:41 And he was like, he got kind of nervous. And I was like, ah, that's all the time we have. And then we actually, we took the four photo. We held up the fours and it was funny, that thing went so viral and all these fan accounts cropped me out of my photo. I was like, I don't care about me getting cropped. It's more just like, you're taking this photo
Starting point is 00:18:59 and like using it for your own likes and engagement. I'm like, you're laughing me like crazy. Like I got like a thousand likes on Twitter and then it's like fan account does like 50K and I'm like, you're lapping me like crazy. Like, I got like a thousand likes on Twitter. And then it's like fan account does like 50K. And I'm like, you could have left the boy in. Like, or they left my hand in. That was the worst part. They left like my fingers. Anyways, getting off track.
Starting point is 00:19:14 When they brought Last of Us to South By, they were very specific about like, you cannot do this interview unless you watch the screeners. And I was like, okay, of course. Like, if you're gonna send me the screeners, I'm gonna watch it. They gave me a 48 hour window to watch said screeners. And I was like, okay, of course. Like, if you're gonna send me the screeners, I'm gonna watch it. They gave me a 48 hour window to watch said screeners. And when I opened it up,
Starting point is 00:19:29 they had only sent the first episode. I was like, is this a mistake or whatever? And they were like, no, no, no. The screeners are just the first episode for South By. And I was like, okay. And I watched the first episode and I thought it was a solid premiere, but I was like, this was the most important thing
Starting point is 00:19:42 I needed to watch before these interviews. And then we do the interviews and everyone's played the game, so everyone knows the direction that Last of Us Part 2 goes. And so I ask them, like, you know, how are we gonna, like, everyone knows what's gonna happen kind of, and they're like, oh, well, your expectations, you never know, you never know. And then we all see Episode 2, which is essentially like a Game of Thrones level Last of Us episode. Like aside from the big, I I mean we can talk spoilers at this
Starting point is 00:20:06 Yeah, spoilers total last of like Joel's death is like a huge moment But like outside of that the the clickers attack and everything like oh my god Anyways that being said they sent me the rest of the season except for the finale For I can say this on the podcast. we got Gabriel Luna on Coffee Chats. Oh, shit. Dropping on Monday. That's awesome. Monday, May 12th. Yes. There we go, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:33 Whenever you're listening to this, it might already be out. And he was great. We talked for like 40 minutes and my editor's like, how are we gonna get this down to like the 15, 20 sweet spot? And I'm like, I'm sorry, it's a good conversation. Yeah. Let's get going. He's a great guy.
Starting point is 00:20:44 So I watched those episodes, prepare for that one. I'm like, I'm sorry, it's a good conversation. Yes, keep going. He's a great guy, so I watch those episodes to prepare for that one, and anything spoilery, we talk, we save for obviously later when those episodes air. But it's a long way of saying, the fact that I haven't seen the finale tells me it's gonna be a massive finale. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Because usually when they conceal stuff like that from press, this is a high quality season, it usually means one of two things. It's either they're not confident in the product and they don't want you to see it in advance, or two, it's such a big thing that they can't trust even the people who signed their life away on NDAs and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:21:12 We get it that you gave us all these rights and you signed initial and all that, but still, you're not walking into the world season. Clem, you kind of hit me up, or not hit me up, we talked about it on stream, on the 24 hour stream, and you were like, I don't know if I'm so in on The Last of Us anymore after this episode. Are you feeling the absence of Joel? I'm feeling the absence of Joel, and after he died in the previous, whatever episode that was, that was such a great moment, big moment I should say.
Starting point is 00:21:41 But then a lot of people were kind of like, well this is when the the show is going to start sucking and you get all the internet hate and whatever. And I was like, shut the fuck up. Can we just enjoy this show? But then there were times this episode in particular, after last episode, which we said was a little bit of a setup episode, where it's like, yeah, there's a whole lot of soul missing from the show right now. And I think they can get it back. But whenever you take a guy like Joel, I'm sure the game felt the same way. It just is like, there's just this void. Not the different kind of void that we had to deal with.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Yeah. That's a whole other thing. I feel like the void has to be filled. And I think that it's going to be interesting to see what they do. But I'm in. I'm locked in, obviously. Bob, you got me they do. But I'm in. I'm locked in. Obviously, Bob, you got me into the show.
Starting point is 00:22:27 I'm just scared now this void is going to be filled with more scary zombies, which is why I was going to watch your show to begin with. Yeah. When we talk about the game versus the show again, listen, I didn't play the game. So I'm sure there's game people that will be like, fuck you for saying that. But I feel like the game couldn't have hurt as much as the show because the show had Pedro Pascal in it and and the game I know people fell in love with that character in the game But he was just he was an animated character Pedro Pascal is America's sweetheart. We all love Pedro right now
Starting point is 00:22:55 He's Reed Richards. Come on He is and thank God we have like Reed Richards coming to the big screen this summer Because otherwise I would need to be watching all Liam's interviews with Pedro. I just need to know he's okay. I need to know our boy is safe. He was keeping Baby Yoda safe. He was keeping Ellie safe. Who was keeping him safe? Who watches the Watchmen? I want to share a quick story about Pedro because he is like genuinely like hearty goal. I know people like that who like are so, you know, they get so many projects at once and people can get over saturated and people can be like, are they really that genuine behind the scenes?
Starting point is 00:23:27 When he walked into our South By Room, it was an interview with four other cast members. It was me sitting in a chair like this and then five of the last of us people. And he walked in a little bit later. I think he was just getting a water or something. And usually, you know, customary, you shake everyone's hand before,
Starting point is 00:23:41 hey, what's going on? I'm Liam, gonna be doing the interview, like love the show. They all sit down. And then I had already been sitting down, had my mic and all that so I couldn't get up again. Pedro walks in, he sits on the end of the couch and I was like, oh, what's up, Pedro, I'm Liam, by the way.
Starting point is 00:23:56 I was like, and in the moment, I just go, I would shake your hands, but we're already sitting unless you can stretch. And I didn't realize when I said the moment, then we both go, ah! And we don't have it on camera and have that moment and he's a great guy and then he played along he took the selfie afterwards and I was like I hope I didn't put you on the spot with that whole RDJ thing we're all having fun and like you
Starting point is 00:24:20 know I'm not prying I'm not like you know have you read the script oh did you guys see what Alan Cummingings said about him today? By the way, no what Alan Cummings who plays Nightcrawler went and did an interview with someone and they were like, what's it been like on set? He's like, it's crazy. Like we're fighting someone new every day the other day They told me you're smashing Pedro Pascal's head into a wall and everyone was like what I don't think you were supposed to say that It's clearly been 22 years since you had Marvel media training. Yes. That is clear.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Wow. That, that's Fox from media training. That's not even, you know, this Marvel. So, yeah. Fox, they showed him like a quick fucking, you know, pamphlet video like the Andor Gorman video where it's like just propaganda, it's not a real quick training vid. Back to the last of us though. I laughed out loud seeing Josh Peck
Starting point is 00:25:06 in the opening of this episode. I don't know if that hits for you, Clem, because obviously you were never a Drake and Josh Amanda show guy, I don't think, but seeing Josh Peck here and him say the words jizz boy in the first five minutes of this episode, I was like, what the fuck? It was almost as crazy as seeing him be like
Starting point is 00:25:21 the one to hit the button in Oppenheimer. Yeah, I checked too because I saw that episode in advance and and I Googled, I was like, was this known? And it was not on his. I was not on his Wikipedia. I was like, damn, I know that Josh is in the last of us and no one else. I can't talk to anyone about that. I like laughed seeing him and then like gasp seeing Jeffrey Wright, even though I knew he was in the show. I knew he was in this season. When he gets in the first scene in this episode. I was like, oh shit. Here we go
Starting point is 00:25:45 I had a Google Josh pack after I saw It hurt and then I got two fucking youngs here taunting me because of it now Oh, Drake and Josh was my childhood Clem Drake and Josh I wanted a red Stratocaster with a white pickguard because of Drake fell in Drake and Josh Like I was obsessed with that show completely. I graduated from college the year came out. So that just makes me want to. Yeah, do bad things.
Starting point is 00:26:12 The twist, too, of Jeffrey Wright turning on the whole squad in the opening, throwing the fucking grenade in the in the van and saying, all right, make a choice. Now, that is so good. Jeffrey Wright rocks. He's one of my favorite actors. Put him in anything like get him in a Star Wars Let's get this motherfucker into Star Wars. He rocks and everything. He's in Hunger Games 2 Obviously the Batman Westworld. I know people love I didn't watch Westworld
Starting point is 00:26:36 So the first season and then I was told it drops off. I heard the same thing I'm here view of this is the watcher the watcher's got such a great voice for the watcher too. Yeah. A lot of Wes Anderson as well. He's just like someone who just like loves the game of acting. Yeah. It doesn't seem, I don't want to say he doesn't seem selective with his roles because that almost makes him sound careless, but he just does so many projects all the time. American fiction. So good in that movie. Yeah. So good. He's so good in it too. Like he makes that movie, He signed me for an Oscar for that movie. Yeah. Law of American fiction. So good. He's so good in it too.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Like he makes that movie, he elevates it for sure. And this is, he did motion capture in the voice of this character in the game. Oh really? This is like a carryover. This was- I didn't even know that. Did you know that, Clem? I had no clue.
Starting point is 00:27:18 I love that they've been doing that with so many different characters or giving them some sort of the people from the video games are being placed into the show. But when you see Jeffrey Wright though, doesn't it feel like the gravity changes in the show? You're like, oh fuck, something's about to go down like or you know, this guy is a problem or someone really good because he just carries that with him. And it does change too by the time you get to his monologue where you're like, he's talking about the pans and he's got the kitchen behind him and then they cut to his fucking torture victim. It's like, oh my god
Starting point is 00:27:46 It took my breath away that that was when you when we were talking about it Clem and we were like Did you like the episode? Did you not like the episode? I said I really did like the episode the end I felt like maybe trailed off a little bit for me But like the Jeffrey Wright moments hit the fucking hanging bodies moment hit like there were some crazy visuals Yeah, the the torture victim. victim was like we are on HBO. Yeah, got his dick out. Bush out. It was crazy.
Starting point is 00:28:12 So shout out to my wife. Do you guys know we are watching this with our 10 year old daughter right now? She's talking about that. She saw nudity in the like opening the end for nudity in credits or whatever. And she goes, Sienna, when we say leave the room, you're leaving the room. And just by God's will, she was in the kitchen like getting a drink when that guy showed up
Starting point is 00:28:33 and scream, he said, stay in there, stay in there. I let you go leave the room. I mean, let's be honest, the dick was probably the least of our concerns, which is what you're looking at, because then the rest of it will haunt you for the rest of the days, right? Did she see the intestines hanging and all that shit? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I think somehow we were able to skid out of that one as well. So we are really are you being truthful or you just make sure that your knife doesn't come after you? I would let it be known. I mean, there's probably 17000 other things on this show that you shouldn't have already seen.
Starting point is 00:29:03 The thing is, it's like unless I put a password on HBO Or max like I have on PlayStation and YouTube. She's just gonna watch the minute we leave the room So we're kind of just screwed either way I loved like the oh fuck of the any any sound like the slam of the dumpster makes them be like Oh fuck that that was a mistake But then two seconds later they bring a horse into a vinyl shop and start playing the drums And I was like the drums pick up the guitar friend. They do pick up the guitar. It's a nice take on me scene I think that's a pretty famous scene in the game as well. I don't know if that's the song she's playing
Starting point is 00:29:34 Pretty sure that it is That's the scene where you're able to like with the controller like hit a couple chords and guitar And there's like cover videos on YouTube where people go into the last of us and they'll try to cover like fucking dear Maria on on the acoustic Whatever, but I liked you know horse in a vinyl shop. I was like, that's a fucking action Bronson lyric right there Yeah, that's a great bit No fucking way the guitar would be in tune though I love that bit. No fucking way the guitar would be in tune though. After all those years, no fucking way would that guitar be in tune. I mean,
Starting point is 00:30:10 whoever puts the like moisture absorber, like absorber, that's the person who takes care of it, but yeah, I don't know if a guitar could like physically stay in tune during all that time. So Bob, I'll take your word on that one. What I will not hear is like, I know they're kids, but like they've also been raised in this godless world that they're living in. They just don't give a shit anymore. They're just loud, having fun. They're fucking morons is what they are.
Starting point is 00:30:34 We're just like, all right, no one in the clickers can hear us. There's also like these wolves that we're trying to like sneak up on and let's just fucking have a jam session in the middle of the channel. Take on me. What are we doing? Take cover. Bella Ramsey has a good voice.
Starting point is 00:30:47 She does. Yeah, I actually noted that in this scene where I was like, this scene had the potential to be a little awkward, I think, if not for her having a great voice. And I was really like watching her finger scene if she was playing. I don't know if it was like a live performance. I don't think it was, but she seemed to know what she was doing. Like I bought that she was playing guitar in that scene I love that like that's your eye to like, you know this like clicker world post-apocalyptic
Starting point is 00:31:11 Awards, let's make sure yeah that she's fucking plucking that the strings that she should be plucking and in time There's this scene where we see the wolves and the one of them is like, I don't care if they're a toddler, I don't care if they're a baby, kill them. Him giving permission to kill a baby, another scene in the episode that kind of took my breath away. I was like, oh my God, I know they're bad people, I know we're in this post-apocalyptic world, but he's like, I don't care if it's a baby, kill them. Whoa. Yeah, you kind of, I don't want to say you need moments like that, but they're like,
Starting point is 00:31:42 we've had so many zombie-based shows and movies, and especially, it's hard not to see the parallels between Walking Dead and Last of Us, because I love the World War Z movies, I love 28 Days Later and stuff like that, but here, it's so distant into the future that we have all the different factions at once, and it's like, how do you not see the parallels between,
Starting point is 00:32:06 you know, is it the Fireflies, right? Yep. Fireflies and the Wolves, and then what you have in The Walking Dead with like Negan and the Sanctuary. Totally. You had Ezekiel and his people. Colt now joining the Frey. Yeah, so it's like, how do you differentiate the faction
Starting point is 00:32:22 so it doesn't feel like we're mimicking factions from other IP, and it's like, you have that the faction so it doesn't feel like we're mimicking factions from other IP and it's like you have that level of like sadistic nature. And yeah, I mean those lines make me uncomfortable but it also makes me more invested into the severity of the show. It feels like an HBO show more than you know, just a random zombie show but the stakes feel higher,
Starting point is 00:32:39 it feels more adult. Clem, you were never a Walking Dead guy, right? You never got into the Walking Dead? No, again I'm not a zombie person, jump scared, horror, whatever you wanna call it. It's another one though like this, I would be like for the first few seasons at least, where like you would get into it because it's a human story and the zombies are,
Starting point is 00:32:53 you know, in the background, like the first season of The Walking Dead. Holy shit. The Walking Dead used to be so good that the season finale when they introduced Negan was the same night as WrestleMania 32. Yeah. And I watched The Walking Dead over WrestleMania. Wow. Yeah. And Robbie knows what a decision like that means for me.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Oh yeah. And then it all just kind of trailed from there. Yeah. Oh my God. The Negan premiere. Once Glenn was out, I was out. That was it for me. Yeah. The Walking Dead for me too, like- Glenn could have been Century. I know. Yeah. Isn't that crazy? Oh, that's right. We were talking about that. The Walking Dead for me too, like- Gliding through the century. I know. Yeah, isn't that crazy? Oh, that's right, we were talking about that. The Walking Dead for me is kind of like Lost, which once I was like, you know what, maybe I will give this a shot.
Starting point is 00:33:32 People then were turning on the show and it's like, it's lost, it's lost, it's way. So I was like, all right, I'm just gonna act like it never happened and just ignore it. So both of them are kind of just sitting out there right now for me. I loved the like escape sequence that Ellie and Dina, or Dina, right?
Starting point is 00:33:47 Dina, yeah. Dina, Ellie, I always go say Nina, I don't know why. Ellie and Dina have the train escape sequence. It was very dark. That was the only little criticism I could point out was I actually had to get up and turn the lights in my apartment off so I could see what was happening in the show,
Starting point is 00:34:01 but it felt very left for dead for me to compare it to another zombie video game. There were levels of that that happened in subways and I just never liked seeing the caption screeching intensifies when that came up on the close guy. I was like, we're fucked screeching intensifies is a bad one. I also liked the Dina seeing the bite panicking, putting the gun up saying Ellie don't make this harder than it is. Ellie's speech felt great in that moment. The un-immune speech, the desperation, and then the quick game planning of, all right, like, I can prove this to you, let me sit in that chair, point the gun at me.
Starting point is 00:34:33 I thought all of this was great, and it was like up until the pregnancy reveal. That came out of nowhere. I didn't know that was coming. I'm sure game players did. Everything after that, the romance stuff, I thought was fine. Everything before that, I thought was pretty great. The immune scene being maybe the highlight of the episode.
Starting point is 00:34:53 Yeah, that whole moment, I really liked it because it was like the way that she didn't panic and like, just believe me, just believe me. It's like, no, that's okay. Like we can prove it. I also thought, just show her the bite mark that you just cut up and turned into like a little cut. Be like, look, I, you know, the burn, the cut.
Starting point is 00:35:08 She showed her later. I was like, show her right away. You've been bit before. Yeah, people are way too comfortable with like, I guess it's post-apocalyptic. So they've had guns pointed at them before. Yeah. But I often like, I'll put myself
Starting point is 00:35:18 in the main character's shoes. And I'm like, if anyone ever points any type of weapon at me, I am like, you know, the scene in a Amazing Spider-Man, what's my weakness? Small knives, but I'm not being sarcastic. I'm like, I'm freaking out. I'm like, whatever you need, here it is.
Starting point is 00:35:31 I'm immediately shitting my pants. I don't have cash, but I got Venmo. Like just, you know. Take it all, yeah. Oh, the, and I think if you, we've been here not in this situation, thank God, but where it's like, I know this sounds crazy. And if I was you, I wouldn't believe me
Starting point is 00:35:45 either, but like she hits her with it, right? And it's like, I swear to god, I'm immune. And if the roles return, I understand me shooting you in the face, but I am immune. It's real. We get immune bomb, then pregnancy bomb, just lob that at each other. And then the ending of the episode bomb. And then the ending of the episode, bomb. Yeah. Bomb, bomb. We fast forwarded past the sex scene. Not because it was two women having sex, it was just sex scenes.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Two men, two women, man, woman. With a 10 year old daughter, yeah. Aliens, they're getting fast forwarded with the daughter in the room. I have kind of a uncomfortable question, Bob. Oh. Is the kid Ellie's? No. What? Come on, I fucking know.. I know kids are made more than men technically. So come on Bob. You have kids yeah. No that did yeah I was like I was thinking like they didn't even they didn't address like who we could assume who the father is right because she was dating the other guy but maybe not I don't know. They kind of said it they're like is it his and you know or she was
Starting point is 00:36:45 like it can't it's his right like being like you're not sweating it around kind of yeah she got like offended. I did love the quick scene where she's like are you sure she's like yeah I found a pregnancy test I peed on it she's like you peed on it she was like yeah that's what you do I don't just piss on things like that was such a funny line and Ellie not knowing that's how pregnancy tests work. I thought that was hysterical. And then the ending was cool. When they go out on the roof and you see that crazy view
Starting point is 00:37:10 and you see the bomb go off, that got me kind of fired up for next episode. Kind of made me feel the way I did when they were going, was it Seattle last season? Or are they going to Seattle this season? I think they're going to Seattle this season. The Melanie Linsky episode where they met the kid and his brother, one of them was deaf. Like it gave me the vibe like we're going to the fucking city again. Like we're on an endeavor, we're on a journey, shit could
Starting point is 00:37:32 go wrong. So yeah, I would say this episode I thought was um, I think I liked it more than last week to be honest. I think I might put it, would put the the Joel death episode one right now the premiere to This one three, I think Yeah, that's one and more stuff going on for sure You have the subway scene and the horde or whatever you want Yeah, that was good stuff and the Jeffrey Wright stuff again. I think was great. The torture scene is like man I really don't like humans and just kind of a glimpse into this war that the wolves are having with this religious religious Click which by the way, I thought these people were just kept gonna catch else every single episode
Starting point is 00:38:13 Turns out they get some wins along the way, right? Yeah And as soon as those people were hanging with their guts hanging out I was like Ellie going all the way to Seattle all the way to Seattle to Avenge all Feels like the dumbest plan in the world now. Like just sit in Jackson, watch fucking movies, you have hospitals, modern medicine, you have all this stuff. Revenge is gonna do nothing for you
Starting point is 00:38:33 and you're in basically hell now. So there is part of me. And then also Ellie using her hand to save Dina was like such a great, using her arm and letting the zombie chew on that was like less desperation. And that was a good line too. And she's like, trust me, I would die for you. That's not what I was doing there. She's like, I'm fucking good. I have a scratch. I have a bite. It's just like a normal scratch or bite.
Starting point is 00:38:56 It ain't like a zombie bite. I will say going through those those turnstiles and the subway has like changed on a crowded day, just like not even worried about someone biting me, but more about just like, you might have to worry about that too. But like when multiple people are going at once, it's just like, all it takes is one hand getting caught. Just like, no. Yeah. Yeah. No, that's nasty. Nasty work. That is a great call. And for anyone, I mean, I know New York has them. I don't know what other cities have those kinds of turnstiles.
Starting point is 00:39:25 And also, like, I feel like look to go like, which way am I going here? And yeah, that on the fly as it's rusted, as a horde of zombies are chasing you. God bless those girls for getting out of peace, because I don't know if I would have done it before we get into Andor. Now we're going to discuss the latest Andor arc that just dropped. We're going to tell everyone about aura frames, which is an absolutely great gift for Mother's Day. You're ready to win Mother's Day

I love you. It was so sweet. I was like what a nice thing. My mom was in the chat. My uncle was in the chat. My brother was in the chat. It was a family affair. It was absolutely beautiful. It was absolutely beautiful and oh wait breaking news breaking news Bob. I actually have bought the
Starting point is 00:41:38 aura frame for not only mama Clem but for wifey Clem who was a mother as well mother of two that we watched last of us with our kids with like savages. And I used the code momsbasement and between those two things, I got $85 off and to be here today. And free shipping. Yep, and I can pay. And the thing is they have to send it very quickly, right?
Starting point is 00:42:00 Cause it's mother's day and I got free Amazon expedited shipping. So it'll be here today. And then they already sent me the link to preload everything from my mom. Cause again, that's the hardest part. I could give my mom the frame. It's just, it'll have the same six pictures that I give her initially with it. And then she'll be like, every time I come over, just, can you just go and look at the frame here? Can you do this thing for me this way? I can give it to my sister who has kids. I have kids
Starting point is 00:42:23 and we could just load them in with all her grandkids, all the pictures of us as kids and they don't have to lift a finger and they just get to be moms sipping their coffee and you know, doing mom stuff while their grandkids and kids are on the frame. So it's an awesome thing. I even did my research, went on Reddit and people were like, this is, this frame is awesome.
Starting point is 00:42:41 So for the love of. Oh, I love to hear that. I love to, and happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there as well. If we've got moms listening to The Basement, anyone out there, happy Mother's Day to your mom as well. This will be the last episode before Mother's Day. Deena, happy Mother's Day to Deena right now.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Happy Mother's Day, Deena, yeah. Mon Mothma, all the fictional moms we're talking about here. So, we're gonna get into Andor now. It's episodes seven,, eight and nine. Now Liam, you are not all caught up on it. You watch season one though, right? Did watch season one. It's okay. I didn't need to give a discrepancy or a disclaimer here. It's quality content. Oh yeah. Anytime I don't watch anything and this is like such
Starting point is 00:43:19 an embarrassment of Rich's complaint. If it's not assigned to me for work, it's very hard to find time. Yeah, watching things has become- Yeah, and like I would rather have, I wouldn't have it the other way around. But yeah, like there's always screeners to catch up on. So it's like when I have free time, what am I watching right now? I'm watching Duster, I'm catching up on Ginny and Georgia. What do I have for next? Movies too. Like half the movies I find out about, I find out because Liam's doing a presser
Starting point is 00:43:46 and I see it on his Instagram story. I'm like, oh, like so and so is in that. I gotta check that out. Yeah, and so we have a very dedicated Star Wars team at Screen Rant. And so like we had a whole team at Star Wars Celebration in Japan. And it's like, that's their expertise.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Like I love Star Wars. I grew up on the prequels. I love the original trilogy. I have like very fond memories of like family members. Like my uncles introduced me to the original trilogy and like I was one of those kids who liked the original trilogy more than the prequels despite my generation.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Cause usually it's flip reverse. Totally. And I got like a model Millennium Falcon for Christmas when I was like seven. And of course it was donated when I was like 14. I was like, I would kill you. I know all that stuff. My battle of Geonosis playset, my mom donated without telling me.
Starting point is 00:44:28 I still think about it. But yeah, Andor is high quality Star Wars. I love season one and it's just been, I have not had the time to catch up. So it's fine to spoil. I will try to catch up before the final three episodes because the final three episodes will drop next week. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:43 So spoilers are cool to be on the table and I will ask my my ignorance. What's the muggle in Star Wars? Is there a synonym for it? I guess not really. No, just a casual. I don't know. It's between nerf herders. Yeah. Like that. I'll ask my ignorant questions for clarification. This season, me and Clem kind of said last week, has been very good, don't get me wrong, very good, but maybe the first six episodes I would say not as strong as season one. A bit of a slower, more methodical pace to it, which we knew from season one had a slower pace
Starting point is 00:45:20 and it's a slow burn, deliberate, methodical pace to it. This week was the arc that we needed them to have basically where it was like we were saying we have faith that they're gonna ramp things up and make things crazy right before the final arc the three episode arc that they're putting out next week this was what we needed it was the kick in the ass we needed it was the shot of adrenaline we needed I thought episode 7 was really fucking good like up to this point episode 7 was the best of the we needed. I thought episode seven was really fucking good. Like up to this point, episode seven
Starting point is 00:45:47 was the best of the series. And then eight, or not the series, the season. And then eight blew me away. I thought eight could have been the best of the series. It's right up there with the prison arc from last season. Nine is right up there with eight. Like eight and nine, I thought were two of the best of the entire season.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Clem, are you with me there? Yeah, I thought nine could have been a finale. The finale. Yeah, totally. Yes. Which now I'm really excited for, what is it, 10, 11, 12? Yeah, and that we saw a heavy spoilers tweet. We love heavy spoilers.
Starting point is 00:46:16 I love his fall, right? Yeah, we put a lot of trust in his opinion, because we line up with a lot of his opinions. And he tweeted the interstellar Matthew McConaughey crying and said I just watched the End or finale it's perfect the finale finale finale finale So that really like pipes me up where I'm like, how are they gonna outdo this arc this week? Which was written by Dan Gilroy Tony's brother who wrote the al Donnie heist of last season Oh, yeah, I and all of that. He also wrote Nightcrawler This guy's a fucking absolute killer when it comes to writing and he wrote the shit out of this arc, dude
Starting point is 00:46:51 the the tense moments the monologue moments the low-key Interrelationship moments it was I mean, it's everything I wanted out of It was, I mean, it's everything I wanted out of this season and this series. Like they, in this arc, they connect the entire series together, where characters are meeting that never met before. It's, I mean, full spoilers, Mon Mothma and Andor finally meet. And that's like a fucking moment. It feels like, okay, the rebellion is starting to connect together we had a
Starting point is 00:47:25 bunch of frayed rebellions and saws group and Lutheran's group and they can't even trust each other we're getting to a point where I believe these guys could steal the plans to the Death Star one day we got a fucking chance Bob we got a chance Dan so Tony Gilroy what did you say he has the sauce oh yeah Tony Gilroy's got the sauce He's got the sauce So I'm gonna say and then like that's a sign and then on the little part like written underneath when that's not a sign yet Dan Gilroy has juice. I don't want to say he's got juice got juice Yeah, and their other brothers the fucking editor. I think there's three Gilroy brothers. They're all in the movie business like the Hamiltons
Starting point is 00:48:02 Yeah, everyone can just crush that we have with a neck and they've got friggin they've got one of the scars guards in this show that the Gilroy's in the scars guards could be like House Hollywood I talked with Alexander recently he's got a show coming out called the murder bot on Apple TV pretty solid dude Alexander scars guard is fucking awesome he's the one from big little lies right I believe so or is that the name of the show I use confuse it with the little Fires everywhere. Some show like that with Nicole Kidman. He's lights out good as an actor. All the Scars
Starting point is 00:48:30 Guards are to be honest. Bill Scars Guard is the creep Scars Guard, right? Yeah, he's an it. He's in Nosferatu. Yeah, he's it in Nosferatu. He had a really good movie earlier this year called Locked with Anthony Hopkins. Small little indie movie made by David Yarovski. Highly recommend, it's like a quick 90 minute watch. And the whole movie takes place, he's locked inside a car. Oh, I love movies like that, yeah. And it's Stellan Skarsgård's in this one.
Starting point is 00:48:55 Yes, and he's so good. I didn't realize, we discussed this last week, I think. He had a stroke a few years ago, and he now has all of his lines, because he has memory issues now. So he has his lines fed to him in an earpiece, which almost makes everything more impressive to me, obviously more impressive from the fact that he is resilient
Starting point is 00:49:12 and is still acting after everything. But like thinking of trying to deliver a monologue while I'm getting it fed to me in my ear, like I don't think I'd be able to do that like physically. He's also at the age too or like you could retire and like Oh my money the money's not an issue, but also legacy is not an issue. Yes, you have created like decades long career Which is like an amazing body of work and like still going at it for the love of the game Like got to respect it. He's a legend
Starting point is 00:49:39 And I wonder if the themes connect this year like they did last year. Like, do you remember every episode had a different theme when they showed the Andor logo? But if you played them all together at the end of the season, it was like a composition. It was, they had every piece of the orchestra was a separate theme. I assume it will connect. Cause I thought that was a cool thing
Starting point is 00:49:59 and everyone praised it last year. We get a lot of Yavin 4. It looks gorgeous to be honest. Like Andor's got a cool ass hut in the woods. This was we were answering the question where would we want to live Clement in a Star Wars planet or whatever. I was like maybe I throw Yavin four up up the ranks on my draft board. Bob, honest question. This is the pod. This is the trust tree. Liam's in the trust tree as well. When they were talking Yavin and you saw it, did it move a little bit? Oh it moved. Absolutely. When I see those temples, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:50:25 The blood is flowing, things are moving, absolutely. It took me a second to understand what he was saying. Yeah, the little lightsaber, that moved. Fresh off the fourth and the revenge of the fifth, I mean, you're in Star Wars mode at this point, so yeah, it's gonna move. The sickest thing Robbie has ever said, which granted, this kid is a sick bastard that loves what he loves like no one else I've ever met.
Starting point is 00:50:49 He's like, I woke up from my sleep after my 24 hours stream, which I'm like, Robbie must have had the craziest dreams ever talking Star Wars for 24 hours straight and then going to sleep. Good. That always will make your brain go a little haywire. And he go, yeah, the first thing I thought of when I woke up is, Oh, man, we're getting a new and or tomorrow. Oh, fuck. Yeah, we got new and or I know it's gonna ramp up. I know it's gonna be better. It was I mean, like I was two hours off stream and I was texting people about like Tales of the Underground or until the underworld already. I was like, not read. And that was also I was like, it truly speaks to how good this was that I wasn't like
Starting point is 00:51:26 Oh my god more star wars shit like after the stream. I was like, holy shit so captivating as captivated I've been with the star wars show since the fucking Prison arc in season one the one way out and everything I loved like will getting back and not even trusting and or at first to tell him where he's been He didn't want to tell him he's with saw He's just like luthen wants to know if you're ready to work again. My note was just like, let's fucking get Dejra. Like this show is so good that it fires you up to get the bad guys. It makes you it's still real to me. Damn it. Like it's one of those
Starting point is 00:51:57 gay fade thrown out the window and I'm just bought into the heels on the faces right now. I love it. And Dej, amazing casting. We might say it every week. The person that saw her and was like, we need her in an Imperial outfit. Absolutely on the money. I love the Star Wars news narration. So like you get like news broadcasts throughout the episode where they're like, the Imperials are moving in, they're lying to us about this. And it feels like a real news broadcast, but it doesn't feel out of place in the Star Wars universe either, like very much fit. Yeah, and I don't know if we've ever had that in the Star Wars universe. I mean, for my basic ass, I've never seen it. But just even like the different spins from the different
Starting point is 00:52:35 networks for the different planets. I'm like, oh shit, like that kind of work, you know, very good. Let's be honest, it's a little it close to home right now, Robert. It's hitting a little close to home right now. Dude, this arc is... Yeah. This arc, Mon Moth, and speech... Tony Gilroy is... he's on the money. He's telling you what's going on in the world right now, but in the galaxy far, far away. And it's funny, again, like, people will call out certain shows for being woke or don't involve politics in this, don't involve politics in that. If the show is just amazing, like Andor is like, people will point out, oh, he's definitely commenting on that. But I haven't seen like hate towards that on Twitter today. I've seen nothing but holy fuck, that was an amazing arc. Yeah. It needs to be natural. Yeah. And it is natural. It fits in with especially a gritty war rebellion story. Yeah. Where
Starting point is 00:53:23 it's like you're fighting the evil empire and all that, it's very, it slots in fun. When there's like, I don't wanna say, like agenda has become such a negative word, but there are some movies and TV shows that go in with a clear agenda. Yes. And you know that's what you're getting when you go in
Starting point is 00:53:37 and then some of like the buzzwords, they hit in the dialogue. I'm like, this is not how human beings talk. Yeah. But the best ones for me are when I can watch something, thinking it's one thing and then a couple days later, I'm like, I'll see something on the news, or see something on the street, and just be like,
Starting point is 00:53:50 that reminds me of, oh, oh. And you're like, reshapes, because again, no one likes to be force-fed on anything. No one likes to be told, like, this is our message, and this is how you should think. It should just be like, we are presenting our narrative, and we're gonna undercook some themes in here, and then maybe that reshapes how you think.
Starting point is 00:54:06 And that's like, that's the best. That's the magic of art at the end of the day. And I think Star Wars over the years has done a really good job with that because it is kind of, it's based on, I mean, the prequels are about trade wars. The prequels are trade. The originals George still says is, you know, he was talking like Vietnam and there are themes about that. Obviously, stormtroopers is a fucking that's a Nazi term right there
Starting point is 00:54:27 so like the Star Wars has always been political to a degree and it's just How it's played how it's presented sometimes people hate it. Sometimes people love it. I feel like with and or people love it I think this is the one where they're like, they've gotten the the way politics Unfold right they've gotten the way politics unfold, right? They've gotten the Mon Mothma stuff, right? They did Senate stuff in this arc that was really good. And even just the simple stuff of when they go to the Senate, someone has to like volunteer their time or give their time
Starting point is 00:54:58 to forfeit their time to bail. And he has to forfeit his time to Mon just to get her an opportunity to speak. And like that stuff is more interesting than some of the trade war stuff they did in the prequels that went over kids heads. Yeah. And you already have the empire that's been set up, right? And you kind of, you know, we've already had rogue one, which already takes you into this pre new hope world.
Starting point is 00:55:17 So it's, you can't say they're just setting this up to push their agenda. This is, this has been the plan forever, but then you hear a line like the death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil you're like oh man like that fits in Here, you know it really does feels like it it comes out of the world that they've created We get a serial just getting dummied by Deirdre constantly. She tells him to pack his bags She's not telling them why they're on this planet Gorman. They're there for Resources and they're gonna massacre the planet. They don't he's just there he's just I mean he's a bit of a cuck he's just there for for what you know whatever Deirdre needs at all
Starting point is 00:55:52 times but he's starting to turn you start to see like all right he's starting to feel a rebellion he's starting to feel that his life's work is all for evil so I saw she smash kisses him too. You don't see that. Yeah. And she hits him with that resting bitch, those resting bitch lips and just nailed it. I didn't realize the gravity of the scene. I don't know if I guess it was last week when they're like, it's the first time in Star Wars that they turn off the lights and kind of elude to, you know, some sex and they're like, yeah, thank you. That was about to be the first time you see a woman throw on a strap on and just go to work
Starting point is 00:56:30 From Deadpool the holiday scene Yeah, Deadpool has brought this into the Disney world now and now star has gotta gone road up with the mouse There's just a genuine rebellion feeling throughout the entire episode Like when Bix lets and or go out and she's like she lets him go out with the boys essentially she's like yeah go join the fucking rebellion like let's split up here it's fine felt very hit manny when Andor gets to Gorman he returns to Gorman he sees the bellhop again that brought him in and the bellhop is trying to subtly tell him he's like you got to get your own bags this time like I fucking remember you dude like be careful out here that was all good and then it bleeds into episode eight so well this episode this arc felt like a movie more than maybe any other arc where it's like he's he takes his briefcase
Starting point is 00:57:14 out at the end of episode seven and he's got total hitman style like the gun disassembled into a thousand parts it looks as cool and badass as it could look. And then episode eight picks up with him assembling the gun. So it's like right afterwards. And episode eight was this was eight. Your favorite of the archers was nine for you. I'm trying to like eight was the actual rebellion, the actual massacre and nine was more than Mon Mothma escape. I mean, it's probably one a one B. I guess I would probably go eight, but I don't know because the I go eight but it was close. It's close. Yeah, it's amazing. There's a realization. Oh, no, it's a trap there. They actually say it's a trap. Fans always fucking Rick Dalton point that shit. The old guy forget his name, but the old guy
Starting point is 00:58:02 that has the longer hair that's part of the rebellion on Gorman, him grabbing Serial as they're marching into the town square, they're trying to get everyone into the town square to massacre them, and he grabs them and he just starts fighting with them and Serial fucking fights back. So well acted. Serial also reminds me so much of Adam Scott. Like the way he acts, maybe it's the Severance thing too, there's kind of Severance vibes with the Empire, the sleek white look. But you could have cast Adam Scott in this role and he would have crushed it. Bob, let me tell you what us casuals call the guy with the long hair, the dad. We just know him as the dad. We're not going Star Wars names. That guy doesn't need a name. He played his role perfectly. That was really good acting, but like
Starting point is 00:58:42 they, you're like, man, these guys have this dynamic that's been going on and he's not probably not trusted him since day one, just all the **** and Gorman going back again, I think of that propaganda video and how it was. It was like the advertising video for Gorman. It's like the tourist attraction and it's just such a happy go lucky video and just knowing what it's about to become. It's so like it kind of just gets you sick thinking about it and just the bell hop his whole story going into it and even when he's like, you know, rebellions are built on hope. How about that he dropped it on Andor and then Andor drops it in Rogue
Starting point is 00:59:14 one and or fucking stealing that line. C&D bellhop on Gorman stole my goddamn line. Just like, you know, what's his name? Scarsgards and all these movies and shows where people are stealing other people's lives. I also loved out the force healer like people don't trust the force anymore because the Empire is private Yeah, God knows how many years fucking muck raking and propaganda against the force being bad for you That was a good scene too That was in the previous episode episode 7 and ors got this issue with his shoulder and he's brought to a force healer and She like feels him. She's like, thank you and they talk with his shoulder and he's brought to a force healer and she like feels him. She's like, thank you.
Starting point is 00:59:47 And they talk back and forth and she's like, I basically feel the weight of like stress that he has on his body. And that's part of why Bix is like, I think she feels that he has to go off to the rebellion. He's conflicted. Do I stay with Bix and be a happy couple or do I go do what I know is right and fight for the rebellion? That was a great scene. The force Healer was very well casted too. Just like kind of an older woman who had this she had this aura about her where I bought in where I was like, I think she is a Force Healer in real life.
Starting point is 01:00:15 I think this is a documentary at this point. Are Force Healers, have they been in any shows or any of the cartoons or anything that I haven't seen? I mean Rey and Baby Yo are the only two I think we know of. And it was like debuted on the same week, like the week that the Mandalorian showed Baby Yoda doing a little force healing was the same week that the Rise of Skywalker came out and Rey heals Kylo after she stabs him on the Death Star wreckage. That was the week Filoni gave the green light that force healing is a thing, I guess. And he's like, it's a wikipedia.
Starting point is 01:00:45 A Disney star and a Disney era Star Wars thing. I'm sure it existed at some point in the extended universe. But Disney's really, we've done it three times now, that I think is a really good expansion of the force. It makes sense to me. Why would a force user not be able to do that? In and or is it more like a physical therapist though? He physical therapist mixed with like you ever see those videos of people lining up to get the demons pulled out of their body?
Starting point is 01:01:08 Yes. Had a little bit like not that over the top, but like people are lined up to meet with the force healer. Ray and Roker was more impromptu. Yes. It was like something happened and I'm going to try to use this ability, but this one it's like you're advertised. Yes.
Starting point is 01:01:21 You go to the force healer and there's going to be a big group and she'll get to you But yeah, and it's also like a chiropractor. I feel like people that are legitimate like MD doctors are like that's just bullshit You're not gonna yeah Cyber crystals kyber crystals for sure The Imperial with the scar just great. Look, there's an imperial with a fucking massive scar on his face. Great. The score was so good There were moments like Cassian spotting Dejra and he's there as a hit man when he spots her looking out over the courtyard You you feel that? Oh my god You see the tie come overhead the the stakes the tension that you could cut it with a knife It was so well executed well edited. We see a bunch of KX droids,
Starting point is 01:02:06 which K2SO is one of them. So immediately I noted, I wonder if one of them is our guy. Later on, we would find out one of them is our guy. The Molotov cocktails being passed around while they're all there, you just see the shots of people fucking passing bottles back and forth. That's ramping everything up. They start singing this gore song where they're like the valley The highland they keep singing it. It was getting me fired up I'm on my fucking couch at 1 in the morning last night singing. We are the gore. I'm getting into this planet I never knew I would even be into And then they have this scene where finally serial confront-Real confronts Dejra about what the fuck
Starting point is 01:02:45 are we doing here? Are you setting a massacre up right now? And she gives him a very on-the-nose line. She says, I'm just following orders, which we all know what that's a reference to. We're talking Nazis, folks. And again, on the nose, but not out of place. It fits. I mean, the Empire is basically the Nazis were watching
Starting point is 01:03:05 and you see Serial's dark side, he fucking chokes her, he grabs her, it's a little scary seeing his dark side as well and he gives her a cutting line where he just says, good luck, Deirdre, walks out of there. Yeah, I thought that was gonna be how Deirdre dies. I thought there was a chance too, is this his like, it's a fucked up redemption to like murder her, but like, is it? And I thought he was a chance to is this is like redent. It's a fucked up redemption to like murder her.
Starting point is 01:03:25 But like, is it? And I thought he was going to get some kind of redemption sacrifice in the end. He doesn't, which that also shocked me. He sees Andor in the courtyard lining up the shot with Deirdre. And he's he's like, this is my girl. And Andor is also the guy who's going after. I committed my entire empire existence to. And he snaps. He just fucking fights Andor right away. I'm not doing that girl and the guy was going after I've committed my entire empire
Starting point is 01:03:47 existence to and he snaps. He just fights and or right away. Great fight scene kind of uh end game vibes when and or like who are you reminded me of like you ruined my life. I don't even know who you are and everything from me. Well, RIP my dog, Cereal. Rest in peace. So, I RIP my dog, Tony Stark. We we
Starting point is 01:04:07 always remix that for our people. I'm not doing this. I'm I'm remixing this one. Rest in piss. You bitch. I like that. He don't deserve the the Tony Stark. Tony Stark treatment. He gets the extra E going. That's a good. You know, a real maybe something like that. Double E at the beginning. Did you like the way they executed his demise is ending the entire fight with Andor in the chaos of war massacre. You know, Gormans are shooting stormtroopers. Stormtroopers are shooting Gormans. Yeah, I mean, I think it's I think it's like fitting to I don't think he realized just how much a part of the evil machine he was a part of. Yeah. I mean, I think it's I think it's like fitting too. I don't think he
Starting point is 01:04:47 realized just how much a part of the evil machine he was a part of right and then it all just kind of come scratching down. It's like it could be two on the nose that he's facing and or as it's all going down as he's trying to assassinate
Starting point is 01:04:59 his girlfriend, which he doesn't even realize at the time but I mean the fight scene was really good too. I enjoyed the fight scene and then like once that's over, cast scenes just like fuck I'm in the middle of a goddamn massacre going on. Just see being on the ground floor of a massacre is why I've never seen a movie and I'm sure they exist where you're in the middle of like a genocidal fucking massacre where they're just murdering people and just target practice on like
Starting point is 01:05:20 uh I did not like it. I like it a lot more seeing it with laser beams than like if it's based on real events or with bullets. Yeah, true. Lasers make it a little more tolerable. Not blood. You don't get blood splatter and shit. But there's a scene where one of the KX droids just picks up this woman on the ground and launches her.
Starting point is 01:05:39 Her head fucking snaps on the ground and she's just dead. He just throws her to her. He throws her 20, 30 feet in front of him and she just slams head on the concrete dead and it was a fucking intense scene I'm gonna admit this though as everything I just said about the massacre being heavy I laughed a little when I just started seeing oh no you laugh Fuck are these people flying from oh, yeah the the droids are just like I'm thinking what wrestler had a move like that where he would just toss people. Is there a guy? I'll tell you who I think I'm pretty sure Keith Lee had it with the pounce. I think Bam Bam Bigelow back in the day ECW when we're talking ECW Bam Bam I think he had scenes where he would just fucking pick someone up and throw him into the crowd like a Spike Dudley or something. I know Spike Dudley got thrown
Starting point is 01:06:28 into the crowd at some point. Many times. Yeah. Also the KX droids, I was thinking about this. We did the whole debate, the 100 humans versus one gorilla, then we Star Wars themed it and we made it 100 Ewoks versus one Wookie for the stream. A hundred humans cannot take down one kayak. So I'll say that Kayaks Unaffected by blasters towards the end of this you need to run them over with a with a car essentially Yeah, I did this with Gabriel Luna hundred hundred Jackson residents versus one bloater. Okay I honestly kind of forget the way he took it by I mean in the show
Starting point is 01:07:02 He took out the bloater through with a plane a flamethrower, so I was like, we removed the weapons. And yeah, you'll have to watch coffee chats on the internet. Yeah, watch coffee chats. Good plug, good plug. I also liked the Dejra line when she's with Cyril and she says, with this crazy look on her face, her eyes, she's like, we're going home as heroes. Like like she's trying to convince him still um that was good uh the the kx that sam killed is our k2so so we have like almost a scene like the bloater walking up on um tommy but it's the kx droid and andor's fucking shooting it trying
Starting point is 01:07:41 to get its attention towards him it's walking towards him walking towards me shooting it trying to get its attention towards him. It's walking towards him, walking towards me, shooting it over and over again, unaffected. And then Sam comes out of nowhere and just runs it over with this giant like, not a speeder, but it's like almost like a tank. Like it's a floaty tank hover tank. I was hoping you knew what it was because it's probably on wookie pedia already. Definitely is. I also, again, I'm not trying to make light of this fucking massacre, but it would have been funny if all these protests were in the middle of this square, just jam-packed and they've locked the exits and the stormtroopers just start shooting them and they don't hit a soul. I was thinking that. I was thinking that. I was like, thank God that we don't have death
Starting point is 01:08:20 troopers out here. We've got like the storm troopers. At least we're getting some survivors. There will be people trying to tell the story that the Empire won't tell. And we get a distress call at the end of the episode that was also incredible. Like, Chills talking about it. You hear the distress call talking about the massacre that happened, and you just see this look
Starting point is 01:08:39 on Diego Luna's face. He's got glassy teary eyes. You see a tear drop. Deirdre goes and breaks at the end of the episode where finally she goes into a room by herself and just unloads like just completely breaks. And then the bell, you get just a bell to hit the end of the episodes on, on credits. I've never wanted to hit like next episode faster in my entire life. And I was so angry at Deirdre, so fired up for the rebellion. I was ready to fucking join. I was ready to go, okay, there's spiders
Starting point is 01:09:08 in this season where they're like, Gorman has a lot of spiders on the planet. So part of the way that the rebellion will pass messages is it seems they like taxidermy these spiders, and they'll put a message in the taxidermy spider. And I said I wouldn't buy a spider if the rebellion relied on it. I take it back. I would fucking buy a spider for the rebellion at this point. Would you put it on your face like, no, no, no, no, no. Let's not get crazy. Let's not get crazy. I'll fucking buy it and wear like, you know, some rubber gloves or something.
Starting point is 01:09:36 OK, fair enough. Episode nine, I loved I think it was a senator or someone at the beginning of episode nine just says, remember Gorman. And that's almost going to be the Star Wars. Never forget at this point. Like, I feel like we're going to go to Star Wars celebration. I think it was a senator or someone at the beginning of episode nine just says, remember Gorman. And that's almost going to be the star Wars. Never forget at this point. Like I feel like we're going to go to star war celebration and we're going to see people in remember Gorman shirts. Like people are going to take the Gorman massacre real seriously. Mon Mothma's got that white on. I appreciated that. It's like tiger Sunday red.
Starting point is 01:10:00 I was like, okay, rebellion time. She's got the white on and very quickly. I Think I'm warmed up to the bail Organa recast last week Did you know they recast I was just gonna I was gonna bring it up cuz I was like I saw that they recast them Just scrolling Instagram. I was like, whoa, it's weird and enjoying when you first see him This was a scheduling conflict. Yeah, which is like heartbreaking because usually recastings it's like, got in trouble or actor suddenly cast away. The time period doesn't line up. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:29 Or recasting. Yeah. Like you said, we'll do a prequel and it's like, yeah. Uh, who is it? Smiths? It's Jimmy Smith and it's weird because he played the character in Rogue One and Obi-Wan so he's like, this is the in-between zone for him and we got a different center.
Starting point is 01:10:43 I said, I almost wanted an MCU ass line where the first time they see him, they're like, oh, looking slim. Or like they acknowledge that he looks a little different from the last time we saw him. Lost the mustache. Totally. For Thunderbolt Ross.
Starting point is 01:10:55 I like that shit. Maybe it's a little too like goofy for the tone of Andor. But it took me one full episode of getting this guy, I forget his name again, but getting him in the show and he's really good actor. I've seen him in other shit. I'm he's in poker face. Actually, he's like the boss in poker face.
Starting point is 01:11:14 I was like, okay, I get it. And I'm okay with it. And I was buying him his bail organa. Are you with me there, Clem? Are you still thinking it's a little weird? No, I'm fine with it now at this point. I just can't believe Jimmy Smith's bailed on it. Oh, that's good. For Dexter too, I think.
Starting point is 01:11:29 I'm not 100% confirmed on that. But Dexter Resurrection is coming back and he was in the original. The reboot, the original sin is the prequel. Yes, but Resurrection. Resurrection. The sequel series. Yes, and I believe he could be in Resurrection.
Starting point is 01:11:42 I don't remember if he died in the original series. I don't think he did. I'm trying to to think also is this like probably one of the only times where an actor will like Sandwich a role right? Probably yeah ever been a time where someone's been like played this role and then someone else popped in for the the thing that was shot later but exists in the middle canonically like it'll be weird if if you wanna go back and watch like a Bail Organa arc and start with the prequels and then do Obi-Wan and then do Andor and then go to Rogue One.
Starting point is 01:12:11 I think he even voiced the character. I'm pretty sure Jimmy Smith's voice is the character in the cartoon. Oh wow, really? The new actor's name is Benjamin Bratt and I do gotta give him credit because I think if he wasn't as good as he was, you know, it would have taken me longer
Starting point is 01:12:24 to warm up to that. But Mon Mothma, she just Genevieve O'Reilly has this constant look of terror on her face, constant look of dread, constant look of her world is closing in on itself right now. She destroys a bug that was under her desk in her office. And just the terrified look up that she has afterwards was great. I wrote at her let fucking cook, Lutheran and Mon. Oh, they had a scene together that I thought was awesome. She doesn't know who to trust.
Starting point is 01:12:53 He's telling her, I'm the only one you can trust today. Bail Organa's team, he's already got one in this team that's corrupted. You can't trust him. That was good. And then the entire post-speech extraction plan amazing where it's she's got a team provided by bail to get her the fuck out of the Senate as soon as she makes an anti emperor speech. She's told by Lutheran, you can't trust them. I'm going to send someone in, you're going to meet
Starting point is 01:13:17 up with him, you're gonna he's gonna say I have friends everywhere. And that winds up being Cassian and or and this is what loops the entire fucking series together, where Lutheran, Cassian and Mon are all on screen together. They're all you know, completely interwoven. It's so good that the actual speech is amazing. She has this line that gave me chills the way she delivered it. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. Holy shit. And she's talking about what they won't
Starting point is 01:13:47 say. The she's a rebel spy misdirection. So when Bail Organa's the turncoat, the double crosser holds a gun to Cassian and Man as they're leaving. And the man's assistant who was also working for Lutheran all along, Lutheran all along, well, I get the points and she goes she's a rebel spy and they shoot her right away which I was like brilliant that was such a good move and then the entire scape was just fucking awesome he I loved and or seeing her driver he's like what what's his name what's his name she's like Cloris he's like hey
Starting point is 01:14:20 Cloris boom we got her. Boom. That was good shit. Welcome to the rebellion. Andor hitting that on Mon because as soon as Andor starts merkin fools, Mon is terrified. Like she's seeing murder firsthand for the first time in her entire life. She's like, you just shot someone. Like she can't even speak. She could barely walk. He has to drag her. And I love them being like, Yeah, welcome to the rebellion. This is what you've been in on the entire time. This is what we're doing in the trenches. Like you gotta kill some bodies.
Starting point is 01:14:48 There's gonna be casualties in the empire. Yeah, Mon, time to get those hands dirty. You won't be wearing that, like those nice Sunday whites anymore because you're gonna be getting dirty. You're going into the mud right now. You're joining a goddamn rebellion. I'm like this with any time someone crushes a bug that they find in their office, like don't crush
Starting point is 01:15:07 the bug, then they know the bugs broken and they know you found it. What are you doing? Yeah, I was thinking that as it goes offline, you could see the person loses it and starts, you know, wondering what's going on. We get Mel she back Mel she from season one who was in the prison with and or I almost forgot until I had to do the lookup where we see Vel get a blaster. She's like, who does this blaster belong to? And it's Mel. She kind of walks out from the back and he's on Yavin 4. It feels like that Rogue One vibe
Starting point is 01:15:34 on Yavin 4. There's a great line where Andor, or Monmouth misses Andor. How can I, how can I repay you? How can I ever repay you or whatever? And or just says make it worth it. Make everything worth it. And I was like this fucking thing is making the original trilogy better. When I see Mon Mothman return the Jedi, I'm like she fucking did it.
Starting point is 01:15:55 She made it worth it. The Bothans that died, they fucking made it worth it. And then I just had oh my god, no Bix. His oh my god, This was the first mo listen back in the day I was crying at everything. This is the first movie or TV show that's made me tear up in a while. The ending of this episode is is Bix leaving and or a message where she's like, Listen, I know you can't make this decision me or the rebellion. So I'm going to make it for you. It's the rebellion. So I'm gonna make it for you
Starting point is 01:16:25 It's the rebellion and I'll see you when it's all done I'll see I'll find you after we win the war and we know the fate of Cassian in Rogue One and it makes it all the more heartbreaking the actress that plays Bix is also delivering this monologue Looking directly at the camera. It's like a close up shot of her, again, teary eyed. It reminds me, this is a crazy comparison, but it reminds me of a monologue tusk, the Kevin Smith crazy Justin Levy. But it's so well done that the teary eyes,
Starting point is 01:16:56 and it made me tear up. I wasn't full on crying. I didn't have a tear roll down my cheek, but I was just like, fuck, this is a beautiful way. Again, like you said, Clem, this could have been a finale. By the end you see K2 and they revamp K2 and they make sure he's maybe they take the chip out of him or make sure he's on our side.
Starting point is 01:17:14 They all point the gun at him first, almost last of us where we're gonna make sure that when he wakes up, he's okay. And he wakes up and just perfect K2 Alan Tudyk is like, if I've upset you, I'm sorry. Otherwise I would rather you not point that gun at me or pointed elsewhere. It's like a funny way to end it could have led right into Rogue One. I'm excited to see what we get next
Starting point is 01:17:32 week. But this was as good as I could have expected. It blew away my expectations for this week, I would actually say. Yeah, I mean, I think I think we were hoping for something like this going into the season and we hadn't seen it yet. And we're like, well, there's only two weeks left. There's six episodes, but only two weeks. And again, I do think that having even these episodes where it was action packed, having them together made it so much better. Because if you had to just go from one week to the other, it was a movie. It was a fucking movie. It was a movie. And even if they put two episodes together, you still would have the
Starting point is 01:18:02 third. I think having them all together made it such a better experience So I'm very happy with that was one of our takes that is not freezing cold. That was a yeah I was really I think the release schedule would make sense. Yeah So and we also put faith in it, you know, like last week we were like, I know it's slow But we know it's gonna get good and it fucking did. Yeah, it did The Galactic Senate still fucking hits. It hits even better than it did because you're starting to see the inner workings of it all, seeing everything, the different planets, but even how Mon's thing is moving and all these people
Starting point is 01:18:34 just going back and forth and even like the hallways, like it just looks so awesome. And that's one thing from the prequels that I did love was how the Galactic Senate looked and they're still crushing it. I have friends everywhere at such like, we don't say this anymore, but humble brag. Like, all right, guy, I got you. No, it's a little cold word, but you don't have to tell us that. And then when Mon was in the Galactic Senate, I said she cooked like fucking Jamie Lee and the bear. She had like 17 different things going and she just crushed every single one of them. And I wrote, bubba bix, you bubba bitch. Thank you for your service though because it was
Starting point is 01:19:06 the right move. She did the right thing for him for her and for the rebellion but it was the hardest thing she had to do. So, thank you for your service and for the next episode, I want as much Lutheran as possible because I feel like he's probably done. He's just fucking gallivanting around in daylight in the middle of course. I'm talking to people. I feel like he knows his time is almost over. So I want to get as much with him as I can. And I'd love for one of the last scenes to have all or as a bunch of different rebels on Yavin.
Starting point is 01:19:31 Feel like we're in war and things are going on because it'll be a year later, right? So I want to see what people from Rogue One there, maybe people from New Hope were there alluded to, like, oh, I got this Antilles guy coming in. That'd be good, yeah. So I'm hoping we get a from Rogue One there maybe people from New Hope were there alluded to like oh I got this This Antilles guy coming in. That'd be good. Yeah, so I'm hoping we get a little bit of uh, Original trilogy prequel sprinkling in because it's New Hope but you know, not a ton
Starting point is 01:19:55 Maybe one or two lines or or characters or something? Uh, but yeah, um, I I could have lived with this being the finale would have been fine with it The fact we get three more, uh, And it's probably gonna be a wartime episode. Yeah, that's pretty fucking sweet I do you think we see any of the two two guys at the top of the Imperial or chart? Do you think we get emperor or Vader's a lot of Emperor Torrent? I was thinking maybe an Emperor hologram I don't know if we're getting Emperor in the flesh But maybe an Emperor hologram a little blue Emperor him given giving an order to the Thrones guy at the top of the ladder there. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:20:29 Also, I don't know how much Mon we're going to get in the final arc because as far as I know, I think she's headed off to join the Rebels crew in the animated series. The Rebels crew then brings her and then she gives another speech to the Senate where she speaks out against Palpatine. She steps down from the Senate to kind of declare herself with the rebellion. So I think the the final arc was going to be very, very Cassian focused and maybe, you know, Luthen, he seems like he's not getting a happy ending. I feel like we might see his demise. What was his I don't get a happy I don't see the sun rise planting seeds for a trees never gonna see yeah all that shit
Starting point is 01:21:06 Also, we got a good tweet from Patrick kill Brogan, and he said Robbie Can we get a hashtag Ronnie Guja for this week's MMB? That was Cassian's fake name that he kept having to clarify people from the mid rim news I think he kept saying he was like Ronnie Guja. Yeah, Guja kept having to tell people so listen I don't even care how was like Ronnie Guja, yeah, Guja. Kept having to tell people, so listen, I don't even care how you spell Ronnie Guja, hashtag Ronnie Guja if you made it to the end of the episode this week. Liam, thank you very much for hopping in the basement
Starting point is 01:21:31 with us, first time but not the last time. We'll have to get you back for some Marvel stuff especially. Yeah, yeah, no, this was so much fun. I've been a fan of Robbie's for years. It's crazy to sit down with you, because I followed Robbie's journey. Robbie's one of the people who, there's a short list, there's like Robbie,
Starting point is 01:21:48 Chris Van Vliet, Kevin McCarthy, Brandon Davis, people who found a way to crack into this industry in the kind of digital age we're living in. I remember hearing all about the t-shirt designs you'd send to bars, and all that kind of stuff. So to be genuine peers and friends in the industry is cool. So to be on your show means a lot. So I really do.
Starting point is 01:22:08 Tell the people where they could find all your stuff too. Yeah, so everything exists on Screen Rant, and I'm always promoting my own stuff, so at Liam T. Crowley on socials, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, mainly Instagram. So like interview snippets will go on there as reels and stuff like that. Great follow up.
Starting point is 01:22:23 Thank, I appreciate that. Always on my story too, so like links will guide you to the YouTube and Instagram and the website and all that. And then I'm trying to think what I have coming up that's pretty big. Oh yeah, Gabriel Luna for real on Monday, May 12th. It'll drop in the morning on coffee chats. And that show like to shout it out a little bit here, it's such a labor of love.
Starting point is 01:22:46 When I was brought into Screen Rant they wanted me to have a show and I had always had this concept since I was like 19 years old in college and we had done a segment similar to it on my campus TV station and then to kind of bring it into what it is now as a budgeted interview series with fairly big name actors and we're going to different coffee shops in New York City. It means the world to me and obviously as you guys know, we're in the engagement business so as long as the views are there, the likes are there, the comments are there,
Starting point is 01:23:15 I will be able to keep doing more and we have some pretty big names in the pipeline and I really wanna make those come to fruition so if you're a fan of The Last of Us, if you're a fan of Gabriel Luna and if you're a fan of The Last of Us, if you're a fan of Gabriel Luna, and if you're a fan of just like good genuine conversations, please check out that episode when it drops, Monday, May 12th on the ScreenRant Plus YouTube channel. It's called ScreenRant Plus, it's not like a tiered
Starting point is 01:23:36 subscription, it's just like our additional YouTube channel. And beyond that, definitely a lot of big stuff in the events world and red carpet world and interview world all will exist on Screen Rant. So just yeah, give me a follow on Instagram and you'll be up to date on everything. There we go. And next week we'll be back to recap the Andor finale and also Last of Us Penultimate. Is next week Last of Us Penultimate or not yet?
Starting point is 01:24:01 I believe... Next week's five, so not yet. We're not there yet, but next week's five so not yet. We're not there yet but next week will be big for Endor. Because I will say one more thing me and Gabriel have a good chunk of the episode that can't air because we talk about stuff that happens in episode six so there will be like a bonus we're calling it coffee chats refill. Yep nice. And that'll drop the week after a little good really, there's a conversation that happens in episode six that I don't want to say anything because I don't know what spoiler embargoes
Starting point is 01:24:31 are like. I don't even want to allude to it. There's a conversation episode. We'll spoil shit about it. You'll know when you see it and we have a good conversation about that. Copychats Monday, bonus episode the week after. Hell yeah. Hashtag RonnieGujia for this week and we'll see you next week.
